[MOC] Rope Braiding Machine

Hello. New post in this new year to show you this: So what connection between this rope and Lego, you say? The machine that does it, of course !!! I start with the video. Edit : WIP vidéo : Now, photos and explanation. This braiding is based on the following system: to alternatively turn the trays. Although it uses 12 strands, braiding is relatively simple: The strands are braided in fact four by four. The blue plaques turn to the right and red on the left, etc .. Between each rotation, the trays are realigned by "jaws". To power, a motor M is more than enough. The lever to switch to manual. BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS There be a new 5th rate frigate found in these waters. She be called the Fer Maiden, pierced for 36 guns. She's armed with 18 long guns on her upper (gun) deck with a further 14 carronades on her weather decks. 2 long gun bow chasers and 2 larger carronades on her stern complete her firepower. She's built at Theme-scale: a slick, fast hunter that can protect merchants ... or hunt and take prizes. In this build she is flying the black, but every smart pirate knows that a letter of marque from a faction's admiralty is worth more than pieces of eight. A "chest" of alternate flags would be a great compliment. Features: a working capstan to weigh anchor, a stove to feed her crew, a furnished cabin for her captain, standing and running rigging with yards that rotate to accurately portray various sailing profiles, and removable foc'sle and quarter decks to allow access to her gun deck and interior. This is designed and built using real parts first before I made it digital in Stud.io and uses 100% legal build techniques and pieces. Now, keep that prize 2 points off our larboard bow on a broad reach, throw all sheets to the wind and let her eat. Build details: this started as an evolution from my earlier Barracuda frigate (21322 x2) but quickly became her own endeavor. I tried to nail the desired level of play vs realism, staying in theme scale and hull sections. My reasoning is that it can integrate nicer with peoples' official set collections if they choose. Because of that I decided to leave the molded shrouds off the mizzenmast, which allowed me to get the proportions of the sail plan "correct" whilst still allowing for full rotation of the yards and spanker. I fully realize some of the concessions and compromises I had to make but I like the result and challenge. Apologies for the lack of detail shots, I will add more when I assemble her crew. Full respect to you long-time MOC builders pioneering the space, and hopefully when viewing her with the theme-scale perspective you understand why I did certain things. One of which is only 4 mid sections, though her length is much closer to that of a 5-mid-frigate. I am currently building her modular lower hull so she can be displayed/played with a variety of ways - especially on an island beach getting careened, or perhaps in a yard getting her copper. The LEGO Group will be releasing a new pirate ship named "The Firebird Frigate", complete with box art evoking the retro style of the classic sets.

Hi everyone, My Midi-Scale TIE collection expands again with a new TIE starfighter: the TIE Striker from Rogue One. Made of 730 pieces, this TIE Striker features a fully SNOT surface, a smooth cockpit section, and includes blaster cannons below the cockpit. Design-wise, this ship really felt like a natural continuation of my previous TIE Reaper MOC. Although being almost Minifig-scaled, (hence the Midi-scale) this ship obviously doesn't have any interior due to the techniques used and small space allowed for the internal structure. Due to the front-heavy nature of the design, a rather long (but very simple) stand had to be made in order for the ship to remain perfectly steady and horizontal. The overall build is pleasantly sturdy for a display model and can be moved around easily. 1940s short school bus - real world MOC (for use with Modular Buildings or Winter Village)

I remade my magic school bus model into a school bus from an older time period (the 1940's) and I think I like this version better. There are some anachronisms (such as the swinging stop sign arm) that didn't exist on school buses in the '40s, but I am using Modular Building / Winter Village logic here: old fashioned vehicles and buildings, with some modern features strewn about when needed. Like many of my vehicle models the roof does not come off to get at the inside details, but then again, there aren't much in the way of details in there anyway. (Yes, the stop sign is printed wonky. There is nothing I can do about it.) Thoughts? -

Which started as modding the original 7965 Set ended up a with a little more changes than expected. first of All big credits to Kit Bricksto (did the Falcon ever finish?) , Inthert (Systemscale and interior), Joerg Kuehni (Mandibles), Fenk512(docking rings) which inspired me most and many of their details ended up in this Falcon. I also love to see what people do in the great UCS Millennium Falcon Mod Topic. Well, the reasons for choosing the Falcon in systemscale are quite simple: Not enough Money for the UCS; Not even enough Space in my flat for the size of the UCS and I wanted to fit the Falcon to the other Lego sets I own from back in the days. So I try to stick with the original size. I know there are proportions that don’t really fit, e.g. the size of the window at the gun turrets or the size of the access bays of the mandibles… But in the end I wanted to get the most iconic details into this one so this is how i dealt with it. I also began with the interior which i will upload later.

[MOC] Volvo LM 841 Front Loader

Hi guys and gals, today I'd like to present my MOC based on an old Volvo LM 841 Front Loader: The main goal was to achieve the mechanism used for the bucket with the oddly placed hydraulic/pneumatic cylinder. Due to stability, I used a 3x11 panel and could get the right mounting point for the small cylinders. Also, the narrow 1x11 cylinders I intended to use for the lift weren't strong enough, so I went with the stronger 2x7. This sadly led to a lower lift height. Pneumatic pump is placed in the cabin like in the 8455, while I rather place a fake 6 cylinder engine in the hood. In this size I went with front driven engine, although the real thing is 4WD. Main functions are: - steering with pendular rear axle - lift of the bucket - tilt of the bucket - fake inline 6 driven by front wheels I just love older equipment, which gives more a feel of old Lege technic also :-) -
Hello my dear friends! Today I'd like to share my collection of the alternative models for the Telehandler 42133. All the videos contain detailed building instructions, if somebody want to build the model. 1. The first one is skidder. A few years ago I've created large-scale RC skidder (Skidder John Deere 648L), and this time I have a tiny version. The functions: steering, blade elevation, boom elevation, the claw. 2. The second one is a racing car with adaptive aerodynamics. The feature that I'm waiting for years to be introduced in 1:8 Technic supercars :) The steering mechanism activates the spoiler, so the car has more downforce at curves. And due to the weight of the wing the steering has a return-to-center feature. 3. The next one is a jet plane. The feature of this model is an adjustable wing geometry, like in the set 9394. 4. And the last one - dozer compactor. This model has two functions: steering and blade elevation. Nothing special, but pretty playable and looks not so bad :) Thanks for watching, I hope you'll find something interesting here :) -
Hello all, I'm very excited to finally be able to share with you the project I've been working on the past half year. It's a 1:50 scale model of the big boy, with working lights and sound! (yes, another big boy model) Instructions are available, which also includes the PFx Brick configuration file; plug and play! You can build it unmotorized, with 2 or 4 PF L motors, with LEGO PF or PFx Brick, using batteries or 9v. I really tried to include everything and make it as easy and fun as possible You are also able to use a BMR knuckle coupler without needing extra parts, those steps are also included! 1930's modular railroad interlocking tower MOC - real world MOC (finished 2/13/23)

I was inspired to build this industrial-looking old fashioned interlocking Tower by set number 60009 (Helicopter Arrest) and a number of old towers in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. In addition, the unusually-placed signal arm attached to the building is inspired by an mid-1960s WWII-set black and white film, (The Train) in which a French signal tower very similar to this one is used for some sabotage of a German train and is subsequently blown up in an Allied air raid... and yes, they really did blow it up - no miniatures were involved! Here you can see the chimney flue on the rear of the building. There is an abandoned OCTAN tank car also visible nearby. Upstairs is a heating stove for those cold winter nights, six lever frames for moving switches and a signal board for showing which route is currently aligned. The bottom floor features a (empty) gas tank, a chest for emergency flares and torpedo's, a trash can, plus a telephone. "This is getting out of hand... now there are two of them!" The one on the right is my original switch tower, while the one on the left is my Dad's (slightly different) copy. He paid for the model and I built it. I ordered the parts last Sunday (Feb. 12th), the three orders arrived Wednesday and Thursday and construction on the copy was completed last night. (the 16th) Thoughts anybody? The base car is an "Eleanor" Mustang based on the Rolling Bricks model that I reverse-engineered last year. I modified a lot to a "Mad Max" type with the exposed engine, weathering, and a menacing look. WARNING: this video contains flash images Rolling Bricks Base model:

This is my moc/alternative/combo build “corner market” Mr produce has fallen on hard times, forcing him to downgrade his grocery store to a corner market, he still is very popular with the kids, though, his only complaint about his current situation is the bank at the top In the back, a fresh delivery from the farm! Jackson unloads the truck, getting the shipment ready for the store! Mr produce welcomes the first few arrivals to the store, Amy and Natasha! Jackson meanwhile, has gotten the crate and is about to put it on the conveyor belt Jackson loads the crate… And pushes it through! Mr produce, on the other end, receives the delivery, all locally grown produce! And by local… we mean VERY local Upstairs, Ben works on managing the banks reserves, everything is in order! 9 hours later, mr produce closes up for the night… little does he know, the truck is back, but why? Midnight delivery? Recreational driving? No! Crime!, as daisy kaboom has been behind the scenes the whole time! Using the lift she secretly had in the truck, she is able to get up to the bank… A few minutes later, KABOOM! She has blown a hole in the side of the building Daisy helps herself to the goods inside And then escapes through her secret exit, through the roof! That’s not her only secret, however As daisy enjoys her snack, she doesn’t realize she has more imminent problems… Will daisy kaboom escape? Does mr produce know about this? Stay tuned to find out!

"Double helix" - a simple, efficient grandfather clock

I present my new build: over1 by David_Z1, on Flickr It is a 170 cm high grandfather clock, built with about 9000 bricks. The structure is meant to be bio-inspired, with a double helix (dna-like) pattern. The main load bearing element are four technic brick reinforced pillars at the edges, which are connected by the said helix-like grider structure. The power is provided by a pretty light (by my standards anyway :P) 0.3 kg weight. It is sufficient for 16 hours of operation. mainw by David_Z1, on Flickr The clock face is constructed mostly with 1x2 plates, the whole structure is under slight tension. over2 by David_Z1, on Flickr The hands assembly uses my new solution with worm gear. The minute hand (axle) is geared up 2:1 and then geared down 1:24 to differential casing, which holds hours hand. hands by David_Z1, on Flickr The escapement used here is a so-called Grasshopper escapement, invented by John Harrison. My particular implementation uses two wheels to make the whole mechanism completely symmetric. The system is highly efficient (needs 70 microwatts to run) and accurate (clock error is under 1 minute per day) escapement by David_Z1, on Flickr Video: -
Technic fifth wheel detachable towing unit

(Admin, if this is in the wrong place, can you please move it still learning the roads here)w I don’t know whether this is a thing in Europe, I in America, when heavy recovery trucks/wreckers or out busy, they use a standard truck with a detachable towing unit, has anybody decided, or ever made a design? They could use Efferson Safeways towing custom design, peace. Then create an under lift to fit onto the fifth wheel and a couple of motors to lift it and pull it, I’d love to make one, but I can’t, looking to design one with someone if anybody is thinking about it, would be nice to have a model show, so you could take one truck into two different things, one that could pull a trailer than one that could have a Btu to pull a ruined vehicle. In 2012 LEGO released 10225, the UCS R2-D2. It remains one of my favorite sets of all time, but I've always felt like something was missing... and now with a new BB-8 model coming (that appears to be in the same scale as R2-D2), it's obvious that C-3PO needs to be done next. So I set out to build one myself... and so far I've succeeded... kind of. The original plan was to have it in scale with the R2-D2 set, but since I'm a bit lazy instead of doing measurements I just eyeballed it, using the size of his feet to judge how big everything should be. So the feet ended up being in scale with R2, and everything else accidentally turned out bigger. I didn't actually realize this until I took the screenshots, and I was too proud of my work to go back and change it. The next step is to make C-3PO's feet bigger to be in scale with the rest of his legs, and to continue working upwards from there. I intend on bricklinking all the parts and building this bad boy for my collection once it's finished. I will eventually post the lxf and/or instructions too. Hello Everyone, Coming back after a long period without touching the little bricks. I decided to rebuilt an old gas station that i made 10 years ago, and replacing it with this new one. I added a restaurant and the appartment of the owner of the gas station. I hope it will be safe for the minifigs.... [MOC] - WIP - Kage Goomba's YT-2000 "Otana" - UCS - Ready for Evaluation

UPDATE: I've changed some things on my webserver - so some pics will be broken - they are still there - just hiding - happy to fix the links if requested - but these forum boards are horrid at editing links so ill just keep it to the highlights for now. Some of you may have saw my "YT Corellian Transport Thread" - This is what I've been working on. (Those who know - please don't share my pics - as I'm keeping things simple for now) Tonight I've hit roughly the 45-49% Mark in terms of proof of concept design wise. So now I feel like revealing the work to get some community feedback/encouragement. To date - no ones ever done one - there's been some miniatures - some rather "smallish" models - but nothing like UCS scale. EDIT: Seems I wasn't the first. Per @Geihlen who found this -> Vieral's Otana - 2012 - 10 years back - not bad - certainly didn't have the luxery of parts we have today. Google didn't see this either - not in any MOC DB's - I did in fact reach out to him as a result. I've been wanting to do this since I first saw this ship. Little background first: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_X-Wing_Alliance Back in 1999 this game showed up - I grabbed a copy - and saw this Falcon like ship for the first time and fell head over heels in love with it. To be honest - I never liked the falcon that much - yes its the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy - but as Leia said when she first saw it - its ugly (inferred or otherwise) - The Otana however was glorious in shape and design. As a lego maniac I wanted to build one. Fast forward to today - I now understand why no one's really done one yet - or at least tried and nearly went bald/insane. The ship unlike the YT-2400 and the 1300 is very different in that the cockpit is down the center-line - and it has a larger "saucer/dome" section in the main hull of the ship. Add to that - 1990's computer graphics doesn't help much in rendering. Little to no "hard facts" on this ship which makes it a bit of a challenge to interpret the design. Funny enough - everyone thought I was building the YT-2400 - which is well known as the Outrider which is funny because its already been done - quite nicely I might add (as did copy off the engine array design of one hehe) Some Info on the Otana (keep in mind - open to interpretation) - https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Otana Ive decided to go with this rather nice layout design - with some room to stretch/squeeze as needed. I've put a lot of thought into this project over the years - thankfully I didn't attempt this until now. As one of my new community friends @Kdapt-Preacher pointed out - there are very nice pieces recently released that make these challenges "possible". Thankfully the biggest blessing as this is a symmetrical ship that allows for clone/copy once I get one side done. Hence my unveiling. I've also seen as I researched prior to Thanksgiving - that people have been literally screaming for this MOC - so I'm excited to be in the running for the likely first second? one done of this type or scale - certainly what I call "UCS". So I'm hoping this will get the fans to come out of the woodwork. After many months of work - its ready for poking and prodding before finishing touches. Some questions I'm expecting that ill try to answer: 1: How big are we talking? - Roughly the size of the UCS Falcon - measures at (currently) 32"x24"x11" at 7.5k-7.6k pieces. 2: Are you going to build this? YES - of course I am - but it will take time to budget and gather parts - right now I need to make sure this thing is ready to be built - still need finishing touches. 3: What kind of model aside from UCS? Playable? Insides? - Not a "play model" - there will be a cockpit that ill try to have something to show for it insides wise but this isn't going to be that kind of design - maybe in the future - but not for this "iteration". It will likely require a stand or a cradle as there are weight concerns/structure wise. 4: Are you going to post instructions if so how much? Yes at some point - but I'm undecided on whether i charge or not. Its taking 10's if not 100's of hours to get here - So I may have to consult with other designers and ask for suggestions advice. 5: This (insert this bit here) looks wrong. - Yep there's many bits that look wrong - feel free to point out and suggest. Right now the following areas are "no touchy" - Dome Suacer sections (There will be 4 - 2 on each side) - that thing has stolen days from me in redesign. I may end up having to redo it - however its looking very good. The rest vary depending on the critiquing. My to-do list will be posted so you can check that if your curious. 6:Scaling is off - yep it likely is - it was VERY bad early on as some of my new friends pointed out. Again - check to-do list before pointing something out. 7: Otana has dual gun turrets! - Don't Care :P I'm going Quad Guns - I however would like to figure out where to stick a/the Ion Cannon(s) at (Suggestions are welcome!) (In truth this is not really a big deal but Its just my little "dispute" from the game) - Yes I totally ripped the Falcon's turret off and "smashed" it to fit. I'm open to redesigning this. Yep ok you win - its not the Otana if its not to spec. 8: You going to make changes after release? - I'm going to avoid doing this for obvious reasons - so I'll try not to "rock the boat" with perfectionist syndrome. 9: Bonus Feature - Gun Turrets that drop from hidden hatches (Ion Cannon/Laser Cannon) with sliding hatches. Todo list: 1: Get some volunteers who are willing to help me evaluate this carefully and MAYBE do some test builds to make sure this will hold up. 2: Design a Cradle/Stand/Plaque 3: Surface "Candy"/Greebles/etc. 4: Cockpit needs some refinement (inside) 5: Part Audit (make sure I'm using readily available parts and nothing stupid insane aside from obvious (3 parts estimated at this point) 6: Instructions (cringe) Major Phases: Phase 1: Proof of Concept - done - ready for evaluation. Phase 2: Detail it out Phase 3: Audit to make sure the bloody thing won't fall apart and can be built out (will be looking for volunteers to test/poke) - with colors. Consider bricks and price. Phase 4: Instruction Manual (I'm not looking forward to this) Phase 5: Build it! And pray it works. Phase 6: Release! (1.0) And that's that.....hope you guys are excited as much as I am. Biggest thanks and shout outs to @Kdapt-Preacher with his tolerance of my ranting/screaming/spamming of my progress and "Darth Soban" who gave me inspiration for the dome sections. Those who are interested in helping me out - PM me and we can discuss - I strongly advise you get Discord because these boards are not suited to up to minute detailed chats. The goal is to make sure those who decide to shell out money for this - won't regret the investment (like me for instance). I will charge for instructions yes - but that's yet to be determined. -

Hello Trabi and Speed Champions fans, Trabant 601 (or Trabant P601 series) is one of the most iconic Eastern Bloc cars of my childhood. It was a Trabant model produced by VEB Sachsenring in Zwickau, Saxony. It was the third generation of the model, built for the longest production time, from 1964 to 1990. As a result, it is the best-known Trabant model and often referred to simply as "the Trabant" or "the Trabi". During this long production run, 2,818,547 Trabant 601s were produced overall and it was the most common vehicle in former East Germany. I have minimized the number of the stickers to keep the flexibility of the parts in further builds, therefore only two standard vehicle registration plate stickers and a Trabant logo sticker are used. I wanted to build the model as accurate as possible in this small scale, therefore it contains lots of details: for example the iconic head and rear ligths, the front grill, the side view mirror, the door handles etc... Maybe the most challenging one was the wheel and mudguard detail with a half stud offset. The model has space for one minifigure with small or middle sized hair. If you prefer the Universal version, then you need only 3 extra parts and it is an easy modification. [MOC] The Witch-King of Angmar™ & Fellbeast™ BrickHeadz (LOTR Product Concept)

The Witch-King of Angmar™ & Fellbeast™ BrickHeadz (LOTR Product Concept) By Rui Miguel “Do not come between the Nazgul and his prey” Shortly after I finish my Fellowship collection it bother me I couldn’t produce them in physical form or bring you another of my creations. So I decided to make one more character but with 4 parameters: 1 – No new printed elements 2 – Only available colors 3 – No rare parts 4 – Under 400 pieces At first, it crossed my mind to make a Balrog but then again LEGO is already making one… So I skipped. Treebeard was on the table of ideas too but I ended up doing the Witch-King of Angmar. It’s a villain with a badass design and a very iconic look. But what close the deal for me was the piece 65473 that had the perfect shape for a neck of a Fellbeast dragon and I think I haven’t seen a MOC of these characters in BrickHeadz form. The final result, I present here 😉 Hope you like it. My goal again was to deliver a LEGO experience that could resemble the product standards of LEGO official products, from packaging, LEGO model and building experience. Beneath I share the PDF files of the building instructions for this set I made. I also added the Bricklink studio file of the model so you can upload to Bricklink and generate a wanted list of the LEGO parts needed to order.
