  2. Just realized I haven't posted a film here in a while. Might as well change that! A Stormtrooper gets into a little trouble... My first attempt at melding live action and stop-motion animation. It was made for a compilation of funny videos that had a tight deadline, and so is a bit rushed. However, I hope you enjoy it anyway.

  4. Not for LEGO purists, contains modified LEGO parts. It has been a wonderful struggle, but it paid off: a super fast, relatively stable LEGO RC Boat, driven by a brushless elektromotor and two, counterclockwise turning propellors! No torque-roll anymore, almost no porposing (thanks to the trim tabs), direct steering and great fun! To get the balance right and to get the boat planning at higher speed was a challenge. But it works! The wet area can be reduced to a minimum, at high speed the boat is almost complete on top of the water (downside: hardly any control left :(( ). Based on a 54799 LEGO Hull with a few additions: - 3D printed stuffing tube to cater for an in-board, brushless motor (10 mm tube stuffed with LEGO parts to make it waterproof) - A gearbox to convert the motor output into two counterclockwise turning axles - A 2x2 3D printed LEGO brick to make the steering arm waterproof - And al the 2.4GHz RC parts: ESC, servo, battery pack, receiver Please have a look at the video and let me know your comments.

  7. Hi folks, This is not for purists. Contains modified and non-LEGO parts. My urge to build a super fast LEGO RC Car often stopped at the stage where the body needed to be build. Seeing all the great designs on forums like this, it somewhat discouraged me building my own. Besides the fact that these bodies come with some weight and will not hold a crash a higher speeds, I had to come up with something else. As a result of an earlier project (building a fast LEGO boat) a had some damaged LEGO Hulls (54779). Since a car body works basically the same as boat hull (but 180 degrees rotated), I thought I'd give it a try. Have a look at the result in the YT video. It works fine. Gives strength to the car, the aerodynamics work well for good driving stability and it is not that ugly :) Called it The LBOW (Lego Boat On Wheels). Included standard RC components: ESC, brushless motor, 3s Lipo battery, digital steering servo and .... a Gyro. Resulted in a very fast RC Car. Theoretically this should be able to reach 100 km/h. Speed test will follow (need to find a good track first). For those trying to do similar things, I'd strongly recommend to add the Gyroscope to your car. It prevents the car from breaking out at higher speeds. Very useful.

    [MOC] MOONEYES headquarters

    My latest build matches my passion for motoring culture: it's the MOONEYES headquarters located in Santa Fe Springs, California. MOONEYES was founded by Dean Moon in 1950, the Santa Fe Springs-based hot rod shop was originally titled Moon Speed Equipment. The Moon crew was a prominent group of go-fast pioneers through the ‘50s and ‘60s, working hand in hand with the likes of legends such as Carroll Shelby — in fact, the first AC Cobra was constructed in the Moon garage. Inspired by the Dean Moon’s history I've recreated the MOON HQ, both the interior and the exterior of the building. In the garage there’re a lot of tools: a roller cabinet, a workbench, the pendant lights, a sink, the column drill press and a lot more. Everything in bright yellow of course. Remarkable the American flag hanged on the wall and the electrical outlets and conduits. What about the surfboard displayed on the wall? The exterior is enjoyable and it features many details. The two rolling shutters and the electricity poles are the ones I prefer. To complete the work I've built the well known and famous MOON pick-up, a ’68 Ford F100, and a Hot Rod based on a ’32 Ford model B. More info and pictures on my flickr. Thanks for stopping by.
  9. [WIP] 40+ km/h lego car Since i like to see some ideas and open discussions, i decided to make this project public. So lets start with the current progress: A few pictures of the first tries, with the following specs: - 4 motors, gearing 24:8 from low-speed-otput - 1 PF-battery-box, attached to an old 9V switch, controlling 1 of the 4 buggy motors. Switch is controlled by a micromotor powered with the auxilary output of the rc unit. - 3 motors powered with the RC unit - total weight (without speed computer, to stay below the magic number :D) -> 991g (1012g with the computer) 4th motor is used as a booster, activated with the auxiliary padels, once the car reached like 15 km/h Fresh video, done 1 hour ago ;) (38,7 km/h) ->
  10. Here's my entry for Rebrick's "Racers of Tomorrow" contest. This is my vision of Mercedes AMG's 2030 F1 contender. This futuristic design features advanced aerodynamics, side mounted air intakes, the "Shield" windscreen and even a previously controversial fan on the back which sucks the car to the track, increasing downforce. It used to be banned from racing but by 2030 F1 cars had become so fast, that fans have become the only means of keeping the car stable. The windscreen also has AR technology that acts as a heads-up display for the driver.     [MOC] Group-C Race Car

    May I present to you, my take on a car from the legendary 1980's Group-C racing series. Cars from that series were known for producing literally tons of down force through under body diffusers that accelerated the air underneath the car and vented it through two large openings in the back. The resulting low-pressure area underneath the entire car paired with aggressive splitters and light weight of the vehicle resulted in cornering speeds of up to 3-4 g's. Engine power in excess of 1000 bhp accelerated those cars to speeds up to 245 mp/h or 405 km/h. With my build, which consists of approx 1500 parts, I tried to visually capture the extreme speed and raw power of those cars. I hope you like it!

    Jaguar F-Type Speed Champions moc

    As you can read in the title this is my attempt of a Jaguar F-Type. It is built with the same style and proportions as the original LEGO Speed Champions series. Although the speed champions use lots of stickers to capture some of the key elements of a car I really wanted the front with the unique inlets to be brick built. The interior can hold a minifig and is equipped with a steering wheel. The car perfectly fits in the Speed Champions series because it uses the same key elements as the official cars. It has the same baseplate, fenders, windscreen, axles and wheels. I also used the officials cars as a reference and inspiration to make it even better. I am not quite sure about the spoiler yet so I posted an image without it. As you might already have guessed I am a big fan of the Speed champions series and the Jaguar F-Type is one of my favourite cars. So I would really like to see this become an official set.   14. Finally i found some time to present you my latest MOC here. -> the 34,8 km/h black speed record racer It is the fastest 2-motor LEGO-rc-car until now (june 2017). While developing i was aiming for the highest speed you could reach with only 2 buggy-motors. To reach the goal, i had to: - reduce weight as much as anyhow possible - reduce the rolling resistance as much as possible (using only 3 as thin as possible wheels [only frontwheel could be better for indoor use: 2815 + 4185, but doesnt work outdoors]) - reduce axle-beam friction; just 3 studs in total (5 to protect the motor bearings) - find the best gearing - reduce air-resistance, and keep center of gravity as low as possible -> so here are the specs: Including panels in studs: length 55 , wide 21, height 12 (wheels) -> weigth: 650gChassis only (ready to race) : length 42 , wide 21, height 12 (wheels) -> weigth: ultralight 621g (without speed computer)Ground clearance: 0,5 studsGearing: 2:1 up at the fast output of the buggy-motorsTop speed: 34,8 km/h I know some of you dont trust the LEGO-speed-computer, so i also didnt at first. I startet measuring with gps with my heavy weighted mobile phone (more then 150g), but i didnt like the idea, to add 25% of weight to the model just for speed meassuring. Thats why i decided to buy a speed-computer (21g) [ could get one for 15€] just to try how accurate it is. And SURPRISE... it is really really accurate. I made a lot of comparing runs with GPS-phone (speedo app in 1 second mode) AND speed computer together attached to the car. The biggest difference i could ever meassure was 0,3km/h. You can see some pictures of this at the end of my video. (In my next video i will make some videos of this, not just pictures). Now that I have the GoPro 5 camera which can record speed on video, I wanted to use it for comparing how various power supply options affect speed of LEGO motors: old PF battery box, new PF battery box, V1 and V2 PF receivers, SBrick and BuWizz. Various AA batteries, too. However, in the imperfect conditions I was running my tests in, all results came out pretty close. I admit that this test could have been conducted in a better way.

  17. My little son is a big fan of the Lego Speed Champions models. When I saw the Corvette I thought it was a good base to build a "Bumblebee" Camaro. So I started with instructions for the new Speed Champions Camaro, a Transformer from the second movie and built a Speed Champions version of the Camaro used in the film. The idea to build a Legoformer based on the movie Bumblebee was in my mind for years, too. So after building the Speed Champions model I continued with a shell of the Camaro and tried to find a transforming mechanism that was small enough to be squeezed into the 6-wide model. The main idea was to get as close as possible to the Speed Champions model (including the wheel houses and wheels) without visible hinges or gaps. The robot looks more like a "Hulk Buster", but I'm still quite satisfied with the look. The wish to have a Barricade as a rival was right there when "Bee" was finished, so I went on. Black mudguards aren't so easy to get, as there is no model with four of the new ones, yet. After all I bought four Audi models to have all the parts for two Barricades (a Speed Champion for my son and a Legoformer for me). Once more I started with the Speed Champion for my son and modified it to include the transforming function. I really wanted to include the "long arms" of the movie Transformers, so I had to modify the transforming mechanism quite a bit to get the desired result. OK, enough words, time for some pictures.   18. Hi guys! Here's a demonstration model I built to show the potential of Buwizz. There were several goals for this model: Keep it small and light Gearing should be as simple and efficient as possible - ended up using a 40 tooth gear powering the older style differential, getting a 40/:16 gear ratio Advanced steering solution - pivot point is inside the wheel and the car is using ackermann steering geometry for best possible steering and efficiency Use Buwizz as a structural support - not only does the Buwizz power and control the car, it also helds it together Working steering wheel and openable doors - have them too Here's the result: In the gif below you can see the way the car is built and how the steering system works The end result is a very fast and maneuverable car that faces same problems as the big ones. Its actually so fast, that its easy to understeer at high speed or oversteer when accelerating. Controling it at high speed can be very hard, but thanks to Buwiz's different speed modes you can easily slow down the car. This is very usefull for parking or precise maneuvering.   19. As a last goodbye to 2016, I present this small red car. It is not really built to be particularly good looking (I used a wire bodywork to have a low weight) or to have a particular high speed. But what it does, is put a smile on your face. Technics are kept simple, there's an RC buggy motor next to a PF lipo batterybox in the middle, a PF medium steering motor before the front axle and an IR V2 receiver to enable 1 metre of infrared range when going outside. Please Lego... Please... do something about it. The frustration and anger about this appalling range is powering companies like S-brick. And that's why my future cars are having an S-brick, leaving this model as one of my last PF IR remote controlleds MOCs... We're making a fun car, right? So there is a silly spoiler and huge rear tires. By the way, these wide tires provide excellent traction in dry conditions, which is important for low-weight cars like this. The interior had to be sacrificed to have a low position for the drive motor and battery box. Because of this measure, the handling was quite good, but made much worse by the slow PF IR remote. In the end, of course there is the video: The longer story can be read on MOCpages and better photos are on Brickshelf. Have a nice 2017!

No Optimal Transmission Motor RPM: 15 - 40 Length: 10 studs Width: 11 studs Height: 5 studs (6 with optional support) Note on dimensions: dimensions are measure to the furthest protruding point of the transmission; that is to say, the transmission does not actually occupy all of the space designated above. Also, I know that the measurement for width is greater than that of length, (which is against their very definitions) but length was measured as being parallel to the drive axles. This is the transmission I used in my RHM Wutzwerg (http://www.eurobrick...opic=125571&hl=) supercar. It is a dual-sequential transmission, meaning that it is actually a pair of 2-speed transmissions (one with ratios of 3:1 and 1:1, the other with ratios of 1.67:1 and 1:1) which are shifted in sequence to produce 4 distinct, sequential speeds. It is very smooth and very reliable, the only potential concern being that it can slip under <b>extreme</b> stress situations; this can be remedied by added a gear reduction later in the drivetrain. It does also lack an auto-stop function, however I will be posting an appropriate stepper-motor shortly. Instructions are here: https://drive.google...XVFRGc.   21. First of all, for those who havent seen it allready: They claim it to be just for advertising and not to become an official set. Well, looking through the video, this is quite easy to build. So we dont mind^^ From what i could see, there are no new parts so this can be build with nowadays "standard" stuff. If you allready own some of the SC, this should be a piece of cake partwise. File is ready for LDD download via this link , though im not very sure on the inside structure.   22. I am going on a road trip soon and hopefully will get a Mustang from the car rental. So I happened to walk past this set and just had to buy it in anticipation of the trip :D So, I never use stickers. Hate them. So I thought I try to mod this car stickerless, which seemed doable. It is a minor mod, but I am kinda new and I feel kinda proud I could finish what I had in mind. I thought I'd share.
