    [MOC] Argus III: CR90 Corvette

Since TheNerdyOne_ posted his first ships for his Rebel Fleet, I was inspired to build some capital rebel ships myself. The CR90 (a.k.a. Corellian Corvette or Blockade Runner) is propably my favorite rebel capital ship - its fast and pretty maneuverable for its size, heavily armed, easy to reconfigure for different tasks, and most importantly of all, it has interesting shapes as a model and a nice contrast between its elegant long shape and the massive engine array on the back. I initially started by building TheNerdyOne_'s Corvette according to his LDD files, but I quickly realized that this model could not be built with bricks without the application of glue. So, while his model still remained my inspiration, I set out to do what's most fun with LEGO: Come up with my very own build. The model is roughly the scale of TheNerdyOne_'s Corvette - it's slightly bigger - and built very differently to his model, so that I can now with confidence call it a MOC of my own. The core consists of alternating layers of bricks and two plates stacked in multiples with a footprint of 2x3 and 2x5 studs, with modified studs (one stud on the side) running along the middle. 1xX plates are connected to the studs that run along the sides of the core structure in the middle and make for a super-sturdy base with studs on the front, sides, and optionally on top and bottom where needed. Both the engine array and the display stand are connected deep into or with the core, which results in one of the most sturdy models I have ever build. The ship I built I have christened 'ARGUS III'. It's a ship attached to Phoenix Squadron which has been outfitted with a very powerful sensor array and the capability to mask its signature to some extend. The ARGUS III has been used on several occasions by FULCRUM (Ahsoka Tano) to spy on imperial facilities and intercept secret imperial transmissions - lastly near Mustafar. I hope you like the model, and I hope @TheNerdyOne_ likes it, too - your fleet is the inspiration for my own fleet, which will hopefully join the ARGUS III in time.
  2. The YT-1450 model was conceived mainly for hauling large cargo crates by connecting them to the hull between the two forward mandibles. This was a feature not frequently used on earlier models, such as the YT-1300, but there still existed a market demand for these types of ships. The YT-1450 standard model comes equipped with a forward pointing tractor beam projector, placed between the large mandibles. Somewhat unique for this YT model is the side mounted rotating cockpit that gives the pilot a great overview of the ship and the cargo during flight. "The Nadir" is, as many other YT class ships, greatly modified. In particular for getting large cargo shipments out of tough situations. An oversized shield generator has been fitted to one of the mandibles. This gives The Nadir the possibility to shield both the ship and the cargo. To be able to blast through blockades, a double turbo laser battery has replaced one of the docking ports. Almost all of the long-range sensors and communication equipment have been upgraded and switched out during the years. -------------------------------------- This is my entry in the Rebrick FREIGHTER WARS contest. The design is completely my own. It's a mix of the Millennium Falcon and a ship I've been thinking about building for a long time. Hope you like it!

What he was given wasn't fancy, but at least it flew. They called it The Blue Motley. Not very original, but with the fading paint job, it was accurate. His mission successful, they both headed to Endor!

    [MOC] YT-2700 'Break of Day'

My Freighter Wars entry. I envisage the YT-2700 as a design brought in after the fall of the Empire in response to a rapid increase in trade (legitimate or otherwise) once the industry was free of Imperial regulation. The two large cargo holds opening up wider freight possibilities in terms of type and volume of cargo. The 2700 began to decline in popularity with the rise of the First Order. Galactic conflict made such a specific-role freighter less desirable than other multi-purpose models as it lacked flexibility but some remain in use. The 'Break of Day' is owned and operated by Nix Vellon and Jeroh Saael, a couple who mostly ran charter consignments for the Republic. The destruction of the Hosnian System has left them at a loose end, unsure of their future. Thanks for looking. I don't dabble in Star Wars much (even though I'm a huge fan) so any feedback is appreciated. Luc.
  5. Hi This is my entry for the Freighter Wars Contest . When it was announced, I seem an opportunity to build not your regular Technic model and I really enjoyed the experience This model is based on the YT-2400 Outrider,. As you may see, it has some modifications as the color scheme, canons instead turrets and a longer rear of the cockpit (I don't know how it is called) My main goal was built it with only existent Technic parts and make all details with Technic pieces, avoiding System parts as possible. In the end I used a LA, perpendicular connectors, towballs, axles, busshes etc for the details and only 5 tiles and 3 dishes. Also I wanted to create the body an getting the shape using Panels as much as I could to give an uniform, sleek appearance. (The new 3x13 curved panel in black was really useful) Since there is not a room and time due contest for functions, the only one is function is rotating canons using the central vent of the rear as knob. The model was partially built in real life, but I ran out of pieces because it was a side project. Also the color combination was really bad (White and bright green) So decided to finish it on LDD - despite all difficulties of building with Technic on LDD - and then this color combination comes that really pops out and is possible to build in real life. Unfortunately, right know is not possible for my to build it, since a lack so many black panels..... Someday... For now there are some pics/renders . Hope you like it
  6. Hello... After some time away from LEGO... I created something I had designed a long time ago in paper using digital bricks. This is a concept I used for a script i sent to darkhorse when the LEGACY comics were out. In that script the Corellian armada had become one of the most powerful fleets in the galaxy and had incorporated in their cruisers, technology from the lost galaxy gun... SO those big guns you see on each side are supposed to shoot hyperspace energy shells, turning the ship into a deadlier vessel than the death star :D Of course, that is only a tale I made up. But I would really like to see one such ship in the new STAR WARS movies. Even if it is not a cruiser it can be adapted to become a ship for a crew of three or four :D That's how many minifigs fit inside :D Hope you like it and let me know your thoughts. Cheers
