  1. The Maltese Falcon is a 1930 novel by Dashiell Hammett, one of the best known novelists of detective novels of the first half of 20th century. Although the next year the novel had a first screen adaptation and a second comical one five years later, it was the 1941 version the best known of them. It was the first film directed by the, until then, screenwriter John Huston, who also penned the screenplay, and was starred by Humphrey Bogart. This is a MOC that I had tried to construct before, but it was the 3-difference contest of the Catbrick 2013 what finally put me in the correct path. It represents a scene of the 1941 film version, that you can see here, although I had to remove Mary Astor from the MOC as I did not have the adequate pieces to represent her. I am giving no more details in case you have not seen the movie or read the book. The MOC: The Black and White version is composed of the only four current colours in production allowed: White, Black, Light Bluish Gray and Dark Bluish Gray, except for the bird that has the old Dark Gray colour. And the question is, when turning to Black and White are the tones similar? There you have the decision: And some more photos. And finally a comparative photo where you can see the differences. I hope you have liked it. Yo have all the photos on Flickr.
  2. Hello everyone! This is my newest lego creation, the tow truck from Johnny English. The truck is completely remote controlled. It has six functions, but only four motors. Two L motors and one M motor drive the functions, and one M motor drives the gearbox. At first you can control the steering, the driving and the outriggers, after using the gearbox the crane’s rotation, the height and the length. The truck is 47 cm long and 15 cm wide and very heavy and crammed with gears, motors, gears, axles, beams and gears... I made a funny video, which shows how the truck works (with real speed), but has a story, too! :D You can find more pictures and a description about the crane on my mocpage: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/365406 Thanks for watching!
  3. Description: Meanwhile in the Hall of Justice. The Justice League meet with the Avengers and Co. to ''discuss'' their interaction with the media. Available to watch in HD and 3D. This is my first time using original voice actors other than myself. My next big project is the Justice League Origin. Feedback is appreciated as always. LegoGalactus

    Lego Shop problem

So, this last Wednesday i ordered some stuff from Lego's website. Since i live in Greece i had to give the address of an American friend of mine. So far so good. Apart from being seriously overpriced Lego sent me a mail a little later telling me to phone them to verify some things in order for my order to procced. If i didn't call within 48 hours they would cancel the order. Since i am bellow 18 i made an account on father's name who can't understand english that good. So, i decided to let them cancel it since i found these sets much cheaper on bricklink. The problem is that: they still haven't cancelled my order. I tried to do it manually but again, my father has to call them, something quite difficult (while he spent his early years in Australia and traveled through Europe when he was younger he can't speak good english anymore). I checked my pre-paid card and the money is still there though. So, do you think they'll cancel my order this weekend? I need to order these sets ASAP since i need them for some stop motions. Any help is appreciated!
  6. Lego Mixels were unveiled at SDCC recently. They appear to be based on a Carton Network program called Mixels. Each set will contain a buildable character. Lego Mixels by TheDevorathShow, on Flickr What are your thoughts?
  7. Hey there! I just finished my latest mini modular builds. These two are the third and fourth builds I've done. A picture below shows all four that I've done. Here they are: "Ollivander's" "Pumpkin Factory" (inspired by flickr user 'RedCoKid's' minifig scale Pumpkin Factory) Here is the lot of four I've done so far: More photos can be seen on my flickr. Let me know what you think! Thank you for looking. P.S. One day I'll get a camera to photograph these things properly. One day...
  8. After my most recent toyota hilux trial buggy build, I wanted to build a simple trial truck that was very strong. My goals were: No gear "grind" in steering or drivetrain Powered by XL motor and steered by M Normal battery box (non-lipo) No special parts so that many people can build The strongest (in my opinion) suspension type is ball-joint with reinforcing link. So I used my ball joint suspension idea with internal gear reduction from last year: Total gear reduction is 3:25 on 1x PFS XL. It has very good suspension and climbing capabilities, as well as meeting all my goals of no gear grind in steering or drive. Video:
  9. I found this at the LEGO Store today. It's the sequel to the critically acclaimed Wedding Decoration set. That Clown figure... I absolutely positively regret being a completionist and skipping on this set today to buy a completely awful Speedorz set. What do y'all think about this set?

    [MOC] The Battle of Osgiliath

Hello all! Just wanted to share with you a diorama I've been working on, featuring the Battle of Osgiliath from The Lord of the Rings (ROTK). "Once the pride of Gondor, a shining city near the River of Anduin, now a battlefield overrun by the evil forces of Sauron. Gondorians and Ithilien Rangers are fighting for their lives as more and more orcs keep approaching from the East, but it all seems like a never-ending wave of evil sweeping itself over the outnumbered forces of the West..." ______________________________________________________________ Click the first picture for some more shots of this MOC in my Flickr photostream! Enjoy, C&C is welcome as always.
  11. Here is my comparison review of 9398 and 41999 Please, use translate button at the right side of page under LEGO Technic logo. 6th 2013 Marvel Superheroes set?

We seem to always get 6 sets for every theme/subtheme. Last year we got the Doc Ock Ambush really late and it surprised us. Well there's currently only 5 Marvel sets for 2013 so far (3 Iron Man 3, 2 Ultimate Spider-Man). What do you think the last set will be. I'm thinking maybe a Fantastic 4 set or something like that. Maybe also a Wolverine set (based on the movie).
  14. What sets do you think will show up for Marvel sets of 2014. I am pretty sure we will be seeing some Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: Winter Soldier, and maybe some Guardians of the Galaxy. What do you think lets get this thread strong!
  15. On Rebrickable, Timothy Endersby posted his Lego Mindstorms NXT Double-Tracked Tank. It is surprisingly capable. His description on his :"Double-tracked is my attempt at a robust tank using the rubber treads. I used the rubber treads instead of the hard plastic treads since they have much better grip (and I have no plastic treads). This worked very well. The only down side to this is that there was no suspension. Also, the gears connecting the front and back treads would often catch on the ground. Overall though, I think this could outperform almost any other Lego tank the same size with hard plastic treads." He created 10-page PDF Building Instructions and a Zip file containing LDraw building files. See 6 pictures on his Mindstorms Podcast website.
  16. Another one of my "holy grail" sets came a few days ago. The first being the 8420 Street Bike and now the 8265 Front Loader. I bought it used and it came unassembled with 100% of the parts, instruction booklets and all the necessary power function accessories to motorize it. It was $160US including shipping and while that is still expensive I saved around $100 by buying used. The build process was really fun and the finished model is actually better than I had pictured it and it matches perfectly with the 8043 excavator. I was trying to figure out which real loader Lego modeled the 8265 after, and to me it resembles a mid to top of the range Caterpillar.
  17. New Half-axles for Lego Trial Trucks - Tatra T813 4x4 RC Trial Truck V4 I accidentally reversed the gears of the portal hubs of this pic. For Lego Tatra T813 4x4 RC Trial Truck V4 I decided to make new half-axles, more resistant than they already were the previous ones, so as to transmit the maximum torque ratio possible from wheels to ground. The photo of the axle shafts made with Lego bricks will be available by early next week. Project Starting from my previous axles, which had little resistance in the attack for wheels, I added the portal hubs from Lego set 8110 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U400, made specifically for this use. In the portal hubs I put gear reductions for a total gear ratio of, together with other gear reductions in the transmission, 9:1, then, nine complete revolutions of the pinion of the motor, the wheel it will perform a complete one. Lego Tatra T813 4x4 RC Trial Truck V4 My new axles shafts will be used by Lego Tatra T813 4x4 RC Trial Truck V4; thanks to them will greatly improve its performance and by the end of July will publish a new article and a new video dedicated to Lego Tatra T813 V4.
  18. Lego Tatra T813 4x4 RC Trial Truck The famous Tatra T813 in lego version remote controlled, Versatile and durable as the original. Modular Design The scale model made by me after several months of work, contains most of the features found in the real version, to significantly affect its performance are the axle shafts, transmission, suspension, chassis structure and weight distribution. It's powered by two powerful xl motors through a four-wheel drive, it has half-axles and various gear reductions. 19. This is a bit of an older MOC I did last Halloween - (it's long scrapped now) but I thought I'd share this here as well - especially for those with a small taste of the macabre. Just after building Lego's Vampyre Hearse, a new, slightly-morbid-yet-cool idea spawned in my mind; what if I build a bigger, RC version of this? At first, I wasn't quite sure what it'll end up looking like, since I couldn't figure out what to model it after - a Cadillac? a Rolls-Royce? a Lincoln? - so, I went with all three - sort of, lol. Hearse Front by Octav_spot, on Flickr What's interesting is that the headlamps are actually yellow elements, but mixed together with the blue from the LED's, it came out green. I liked the look so much, I kept it as is. Hearse Rear by Octav_spot, on Flickr The side-lamps idea came to me in the last moment - I wish I'd of made them look closer to actual lanterns (since that's what original hearse carriages had.) To my surprise, the light came out looking almost purple, which seemed strikingly accurate. Hearse Profile by Octav_spot, on Flickr Two Hearses by Octav_spot, on Flickr Just the V8 engine itself was literally half the Vampyre Hearse. I laughed. Hearse Speed by Octav_spot, on Flickr To see it in motion, here's the video. I thought the reaction from my cat was pretty funny, so I kept it in the clip Currently working on an actual Rolls Royce... just haven't decided what model year yet... In any case, enjoy!

  21. Hey guys - thought I'd share my Starcraft Terran Battlecruiser "Norad II" MOC - I thought I'd give the BC another try, simply because it's always been my favourite unit from the SC universe. So, here goes: Terran Battlecruiser "Snout" by Octav_spot, on Flickr Ah yes... the "snot". Those familiar with the original SC cinematics, you may remember the angular nose of the BC as an iconic (and somewhat ominous) visual characteristic. Terran Battlecruiser Side by Octav_spot, on Flickr With my earlier efforts of rendering the BC, I tried to keep it closely familiar to the original SC version - this time, I kept to the same idea, albeit with a few aesthetics borrowed from the SC II version of the BC. Now, a bit of background on Norad II. In the SC universe, it is the Terran Confederacy flagship of General Edmund Duke, (hence the flag) - the ship appears several times as a playable unit throughout the SC I and Brood War campaigns. I chose Norad II, because it was an important catalyst to several events that take place early in the SC storyline, and symbolized the fall of the Terran Confederacy's empire. And, even though technically, in the game Norad II is Teal (light olive green) I chose blue, since I thought it looked better with it. Terran Battlecruiser Profile 2 by Octav_spot, on Flickr Terran Battlecruiser Rear by Octav_spot, on Flickr Terran Battlecruiser Engines by Octav_spot, on Flickr As you can hopefully tell in the last photo, I've added some functionality to it, simply because I didn't want a completely stationary model. It features spinning turbines, a "functioning" Yamato cannon (the BC's greatest weapon) and "working" atmospheric thrusters. I'm still putting together a video demonstrating all these features, so look out for it soon! ;) In any case, enjoy, feedback is welcome, looking forward to connecting to any Starcraft fans here on eurobricks! :)

  23. Hi, I am making a six speed gearbox but I am having significant trouble in enabling the gear lever to slide out of the drive selector clutch and into the clutch beside it. This is fine if the drive selector is set to the middle setting as it lines up with the clutch for the gearbox but if it isnt then it wont be able to without moving back down to the middle position and changing clutches. Any ideas?
