    Barad-dûr [MOC]

For some time I have been thinking about building something with rocks and lava. I started designing Darth Vader’s Castle for a Star Wars event back in August, but soon realized I wouldn’t be able to build it within 2 months. Thus, I abandoned the idea. As it happens I also wanted to build something from Lord of the Rings. It’s one of my favourite stories and surprisingly I haven’t build anything of that theme before. Combine rocks, lava and Lord of the Rings and this is what you get: Barad-dûr, Sauron’s stronghold in Mordor. I really enjoyed building my Cinderella Castle on 1 baseplate of 48 x 48 studs and decided that Sauron’s fortress had to fit on 1 baseplate as well. Somehow it was easier to design this digitally starting at the top and ending with the bottom. The model took about 4 months to design and build, contains about 6300 parts and is about 67cm in height. For the lava I used Light STAX layered with transparent orange plates and tiles. I think this is working really well and it gives a nice glow to the black walls and turrets of the fortress. And now a couple of pictures. You'll find many more pictures on Flickr.
  2. I absolutely love all the orcs from the LotR and Hobbit line. They are so detailed and I feel like they look so much better than the Fantasy Era trolls. Heck, they even look better than the more recent CMF goblin IMO. With that said, I was wondering what orc is everyone else favorite? Why is that particular orc your favorite? Is it your favorite from the movie, because Lego did the best job representing them, because the orc just looks amazing, or what? If it is an orc that has different versions, like the Mordor Orcs with and without hair, or the Gundabad Orcs with different face paint, which one of that particular type is your favorite?
  3. This is my "The Great Eye: Barad-dûr" Lego Ideas set. It would be a pit for Lego to never produce any more large sets for the world of Middle Earth without a decent version of the main enemy Sauron himself and so I have made this set in hopes that one large missing chunk can be filled. If you want to support it in hopes of it getting made you can do so through here. Every vote makes a change so please do not hesitate to leave your support. It only takes a few minutes if you don't already have a account imagine all the time I put to make it:http://https://ideas.lego.com/projects/96737 This is the main image in a large resolution. If you wish to see more close ups there are many more to be seen on the Lego Ideas link. Let me know what you think. -Gus Something happened with the post the title should be ""Sauron in armor minifigure along with Barad-dûr (Lotr) What do you think?" and it posted it twice. GG

    [MOC] Into Mordor

Here's my newest creation, depicting the scene from ROTK where Frodo and Sam, disguised as orcs, are approached by a group of orcs and their linebreaker... "After Samwise Gamgee rescues Frodo from Cirith Ungol, they travel further into the land of Mordor, disguised as orcs. As they keep walking on and on, weary and tiresome, they find that up ahead a group of orcs is passing through, slowly moving towards them. As they keep calm and quiet, hoping not to be seen, they are approached by an orc linebreaker who sees them as little orcs and pulls them into the group to march among them..." ___________________________________________________________ You can find it on both Flickr and MOCpages, as well. C&C is welcome as always.

    [MOC] The Battle of Osgiliath

Hello all! Just wanted to share with you a diorama I've been working on, featuring the Battle of Osgiliath from The Lord of the Rings (ROTK). "Once the pride of Gondor, a shining city near the River of Anduin, now a battlefield overrun by the evil forces of Sauron. Gondorians and Ithilien Rangers are fighting for their lives as more and more orcs keep approaching from the East, but it all seems like a never-ending wave of evil sweeping itself over the outnumbered forces of the West..." ______________________________________________________________ Click the first picture for some more shots of this MOC in my Flickr photostream! Enjoy, C&C is welcome as always.
