  1. Took this time some inspiration from @johndrinkin and his art deco/retrofuturistic trains and some existing trains with smooth "bathtub" cowl appearance. Here few versions of it with a slight forward and backward cowl and with standard parts and customs wheels that suits better With custom wheels that are slightly bigger XLL https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/design.page?idModel=440333 With standard partlist https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/design.page?idModel=439655 Due too similarity of them here some other photos and angels Hoses job (it was painful and full of struggle but I`ve made it! ) Size comparison between desighn with custom wheels and sandart(sorter) Been working on this for way too much time but got a few new ideas and some of them use as improvements for PRR GG1 family Maybe will try to make a "tank version" based on some German/Dutchland streamlined train (if not fall fully insane)
  2. Model of a Mack Granite truck equipped with a boom and flatbed. Features drive, steering, full suspension, motorized boom elevation, extension, and rotation, winch, and extending/lowering outriggers. Functions/features: Drive Steering Full suspension Boom elevation Boom extension Boom rotation Winch Outriggers Instructions available on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-150955/JLiu15/mack-granite-boom-truck/#details After the 4-output distribution gearbox on my MCI D4500CT Commuter Coach model proved to be ineffective, I didn't want to simply abandon the gearbox design. I decided that I was going to tweak the gearbox a little to be used in a new MOC. I had wanted to use the same suspension setup for my MCI D4500CT model as a test bed for the suspension design, so I settled on incorporating the gearbox into a truck model. A boom truck like this is a MOC I had wanted to make for quite some time, as I see plenty of them in the US but not that many MOCs of them. Because the turntable for the boom is placed higher up, it leaves more room to route gears/axles from the gearbox to the 4 functions it controls. Because the gearbox sits in the heart of the chassis between the outriggers and rear axles, the chassis is built very densely. The gearbox makes use of two Control+ L motors: one for shifting and one for driving the output functions. The drive motor (a Control+ XL motor) sits directly behind the gearbox, and drive is transferred to the rear axles via an extendable CV joint. The drivetrain is geared down after the CV joint to reduce the amount of torque applied to it. Lastly, there is another Control+ L motor for steering which is built into the front axle. I designed the suspension (a simple live axle for all 3 axles) entirely in Stud.io before building it physically, so I had no idea how it would perform upon building it. However, the entire setup worked flawlessly, and there are no issues with drive transmission into the suspended rear axles. My initial plan for this MOC was to just build it as a generic US-style truck, but upon finishing the cab someone said it resembled a Mack Granite, so I modified the cab to actually make it based on the Mack Granite with the Mack Bulldog emblem from the 42078 Mack Anthem set in the front. A number of metallic silver elements are used in the front, although due to the relatively low number of pieces available in that color there is still plenty of gray in the front (such as the bumper). The Control+ hub is placed in the back of the cab and is removable for battery replacement by removing the roof, as the hub and roof are attached to each other. This means the sides of the cab must be sturdy to compensate for the relatively loosely attached roof, so the doors do not open on this model. I decided to build the cab in dark blue, a color I have not used much before, as I now have a sizeable collection of dark blue pieces from the 42083 and 42154 sets. I built the boom in yellow to contrast with the dark blue cab. The boom is built around 3x19 frames covered with tiles. Their abundance of pin holes makes them a good candidate for crane booms. It was difficult routing the two motorized functions through the turntable and into the boom, as two separate axle functions must pass through a small space. Because only two axle functions can be routed through a turntable, I had to make the winch manually operated with a ratchet mechanism. I was initially concerned about the weight of the boom, and while the boom does tend to lean forward during the elevation process, everything remains intact even at maximum elevation and extension and the range of the boom is quite impressive. There are no stoppers for the boom rotation, so the boom can theoretically rotate infinitely as there are no wires going through the turntable. The outriggers, however, were a weak point for the model as they are quite flimsy and are unable to lift the truck off the ground without substantial bending, so I limited the outriggers' legs extension to where they are able to make contact with the ground. Additionally, I should have geared down the mechanism substantially more, but a modification would require essentially rebuilding the chassis from scratch. As a result, I set the gearbox motor responsible for driving the gearbox functions slightly below maximum speed. I had wanted to be able to control the gearbox functions with a single touch (e.g. pressing one button shifts the gearbox then drives it in a given direction) but was not able to figure it out so I went with a much more straightforward (albeit more difficult to use) controller setup. A single slider is used to drive the gearbox functions, and three buttons are used to shift the gearbox (up 90 degrees, down 90 degrees, and return to one endpoint). I have to keep in mind the position of the gearbox while controlling the model, but the setup overall worked well. Overall, this was a MOC that had plenty of mechanical complexity, but certain functions could've been designed better. While all of the functions work as intended, the boom leans forward quite a bit when the boom elevates and the outriggers cannot lift the truck off the ground. The front axle could've also been reinforced better, as during the steering calibration process the steering pinion gear often skips a tooth. Despite the drawbacks of this MOC, it still largely met my expectations as the drivetrain and suspension worked flawlessly and the dark blue/yellow color scheme worked well. Video: Photos:

    [MOC] SS Mᴿ̱ SAИDERƧ

Built this SHIP last night using some advanced building techniques, but I'm not sure what the right term for this type of hull design is. It has a lot in common with a Cog, but the curve on the prow is the wrong shape - wondering if anyone can help me figure out a more accurate classification. It's definitely a merchant vessel as the primary cargo is animals. Advanced Rigging Technique: Use fences for sails and pinch a firehose between them Advanced SNOT Technique: Balance a plate on a bear's nose as the ship's wheel A shot showing off the whole build Another shot showing off the whole build The nameboard

    [MOC] Rachel's Nissan 350z from NFSU2

My new 8 wide Speed Champions scaled MOC! This time i wanted to build something from my childhood. And Need for Speed games really were a gigantic part of my childhood. So i decided to build one of the most coolest cars from old NFS games - Rachel's Nissan 350z from Need for Speed Underground 2. The very first car you see and drive when starting your career as a street racer in Bayview. FREE INSTRUCTIONS: https://reb.li/m/151905 Video Review: Thanks for visiting!
  6. LEGO MOC#97 Convenience Store I have submitted this creation to Bricklink Designer Program Series 2. I have put a lot of detail at the interior. Welcome to take a look. If you like this MOC, please support it on Bricklink Designer Program Series 2: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-2/838/Convenience-Store-Modular-Building I also created a stop-motion animation for this creation. Welcome to take a look: More MOC on my homepage: https://www.bricksboy.com/moc
  7. I've started building with some various Super Heroes scenes. Two scenes are finished. The Scarecrow has placed some canisters with fear gas in the docks. But why? Is this a distraction? Batman hasn't noticed the green question mark yet. The other scene is a bit inspired by the Flash TV series. The Flash noticed a yellow streak moving through Central City and started to chase it. There are more pictures in my Flickr album. Feedback and questions are appreciated. Sander
  8. Started this for the Lego Ideas LOTR contest from a weeks ago, but ran out of time for it then, and just came back to finish it now.
  9. For a long time I wanted to build some Rock Raider MOCs. I loved playing the game and with the sets when it was new and remember playing a lot with it and building things from the game (with the wrong colors). Sadly I never had the big sets but I did have the the Loader-Dozer and a couple of small sets so I did have most minifigs and the rock monster except the Chief. So I recently started putting some figs together and started updating them, and also added some extra characters. Rock Raiders 2.0+ by Ids, on Flickr From left to right: - Raiden (a new miner to expand the team) - Nari (a rookie engineer, helps Sparks with his tasks) - Wiz (a Zotaxian expert in energy crystals and Voltstones) - Sparks (an expert on all things mechanical and electrical) - Jet (the most courageous and strong-willed of all the Rock Raiders, she is a very skilled pilot) - Chief (the oldest, wisest and most experienced Rock Raider) - Docs (the head Geologist and Commander) - Bandit (the greatest sailor) - Axle (one of the best drivers of the team) - Rocky (a robot) - Krenxx (a demolition expert) When building the figs, I realized I had to also build some vehicle for them, for FebRovery (see also this topic: [MOC] Febrovery 2022 a story of rovers - LEGO Sci-Fi - Eurobricks Forums) I made one: FebRovery 2022 - 25 by Ids, on Flickr Heavy Tunnelator by Ids, on Flickr The search for energy crystals continues, the Heavy Tunnelator is a new Rock Raiders vehicle, the drill can be pushed out of the vehicle to drill from a safe distance. An experimental function of the vehicle is that the drill can be remotely controlled from inside the cabin, and can continue to drill without being attached to the base. And today I also finished some small ones: Rock Raider scouts by Ids, on Flickr Two small Rock Raider vehicles. Made an updated Hover Scout and a small scout rovers. Thanks for looking and let me know what you think, I will probably work on some more vehicle when I have an idea.
  10. Today I was able to post my latest build (due to personal matters). The Generic Mower 2000! I wanted, again, to make something non-branded, so a riding mower it was. Not much about the build really; It has a two cylinder water cooled diesel. Four wheels. Pivoting front axle. The mower deck can be turned on and off. The seat flips up. The trailer has a removable back. The trailer can dump too. I for some reason was having trouble with the deck because how I modeled it, I did not have the clearance or parts to make the deck raise and lower. Taking care of the flowers and grass. Just a little flex. 15 horsepower of ultimate power! Ready for work. The remaining pictures are located here! and video is here!

    [MOC] X0186 - Hover Train

I was inspired by Alejandro Burdisio's artworks. I made this just for fun using parts that I rarely use. the base model was my old 7wide Henschel & Sohn CP0186 it was a 9V train and it didn't have enough room to be upgraded to another motorization solution. I'm not running 9V trains anymore, so I decided to change it to something strange just for fun. I believe this belongs more here than the Train Tech, correct me if I am wrong. :) I added some non-lego lights from a Fun Whole set that I received a few months ago

  17. In the course of December, I stumbled across the Flying Hamburger while reading Wikipedia every day. The railcar train is of course a perfect match for my streamlined locomotives: time and origin fits. However, there is only a remnant of the Flying Hamburger in Nuremberg DB museum and I prefer to build complete museum locomotives. Also, I was not happy with the look of the "Flying Hamburger" and the small, deep-drawn front windows. However, further research revealed that after the prototype, 13 railcar trains of the "Hamburg" type were built and also in regular service. These had a more beautiful front for me and are simply a classic. And one of them is completely preserved as a museum train in Leipzig's main station. Perfect ;-) The original is perfect in shape for a Lego conversion, so go for it ;-) Sure, I needed the one or other attempt in studio or with stones, but quite quickly I came to the feeling: yes, it works. An exciting topic was the transition between the two halves of the train. I wanted them as close together as possible. The solution was then a variation of an idea from @Hod Carrier. He had presented a kind of close coupling with trapeze and I adapted this principle to my place and size. There was still help in the Dr. Brick Forum from Mick. With the close coupling the two units can drive very close together through R104 curves / switches. But the limitation to R104 is in the boogies, the coupler could run smaller radii with a different design. The interior design was also exciting. I didn't want to use the Lego molding for a seat, since wing chairs were in use in the original. So I built myself wing chairs. Per seat only 14 parts.... ;-) Built are just over 2700 Lego parts Drive 2x Lego PU CityHUB 2x Lego PU train motor Light and stickers are self-made No foreign parts from other manufacturers used Working front and rear lights, automatically matching the direction of travel Interior lighting: Since I wanted a rigid fairing, the minimum curve radius is R104: Last weekend at the exhibition in Wörrstadt/Germany the SVT had the first opportunity for a real ride: Have fun watching! 18. Hello everyone! I am glad to introduce you my Mercedes Unimog U4000. I made it last autumn for trial competitions and it became my first successful RC Lego model with Brushless RC motor. Technical aspects: - Brushless RC motor 1000kv with a custom 3D-printed planetary gear. - Custom 3D-prined planetary 2-speed gearbox with remote control (by Geek Servo) gear ratio 1:1 or 1:5 - RC remote control - 3S Li-Po for power - Geek Servo for steering - Transmission with metal bearings - Planetary wheel hubs - 4-link live axe suspension at the front - 3-link live axe suspension at the rear with free articulation - 85 mm RC tires - Light-weight bodywork, total mass is about 1.2 kg I tested this car on various terrain both indoor and outdoor. It reaches about 8 km/h on normal speed and about 1,6 km on low gear. Since the transmission has several reduction gears (made with planetary gears) Brushless motor feels good in this trial car. It gives the truck more power than it will ever need, so the truck can take a significant weight on board (if one change shocks to the hard one). Oscillating real live-axe and grippy tires provide a constant contact with road, so the truck climbs rocks easily both with closed and open differentials. Due to the reference, the gravity center of the truck is moved to the front, so it struggles a bit with going down the hill, but appears to be a great climber. It can beat Lego Zetros both on low and high gear!
  19. You REALY don't want to see this in your rearview mirror as this truck is killer! This 8-wide LEGO MOC is inspired by the villain vehicle (driven by an unseen psycho trucker) as featured in the TV production-turned-feature film "Duel", which was Steven Spielberg's first feature-length film by the way. It also uses parts of the truck in Jurassic World set 76948 (T. rex & Atrociraptor Dinosaur Breakout) as a general guide to the cab area, and CITY set 60357 (Stunt Truck and Ring of Fire Challenge) for the area forward of the actual driver's compartment. The 1955 Peterbuilt 281 'needlenose' semi truck, with tanker trailer attached, is what was used in the film originally. Later, as the film was extended for theatrical release, a 351 was used as a stand-in for more scenes due to the original truck being... unable to fulfill it's role. (watch the movie so you know what I mean!) I've tried to make it as accurate as possible to the original 251, with the AC unit behind the cab, sleek streamlined 1950's tanker design, and single exhaust pipe in black. There is a steering wheel in the cab, but no way to place a figure at the controls. This is because we never see the driver's face in the film. So putting a placeholder in there would be totally inaccurate. The tanker by itself, balanced upright by my finger on the back bumper. This is because I didn't add jacks / stands underneath the trailer that are used when the cab is separated from the trailer. The truck seen in most (some added scenes used a 351 model of the same truck maker) of the 1971 action-thriller film is a 1955 Peterbilt 281, which Steven Spielberg selected because of the long hood of the Peterbilt, its split windshield, and its round headlights gave it more of a "face", adding to its menacing personality. Additionally, Spielberg said that the multiple license plates on the front bumper of the Peterbilt subtly suggested that the truck driver is a serial killer, having "run down other drivers in other states". (The above paragraph is taken from Wikipedia article on the film) Any thoughts on this model or it's accuracy? Comments, questions and complaints always welcome! UPDATE 5/22/23: Real world photos added!
  20. I'm doing a 1:375 scale of the World Trade Center, I'm also doing the concourse (Isn't present in the photos) The album you're viewing is just a representation, still a work in progress, Lego Digital Designer program cannot handle a lot of bricks because it wasn't meant for big projects like this, so deleted the structure of my twins and added them together just for show. The roads with bunch of studs are temporary, I want this to be accurate, including textures, like the 'Marriott' logo, 'The Mall' logo, flags, posters, banners, awnings, etc. I want to share my knowledge with all of you of what it pretty much looks like and feels like. If it's recreate-able, I'll do it sometimes I'll doubt myself. There's so much I really really want to talk about, start with, it's suppose to take place in mid-July in 2001, it's my first time making something involving Lego, I started this more than a year ago - 49,517 bricks present. The tall twins are the twins (Duh) The Marriott Hotel is 3 World Trade Center, 3 low rise black buildings, by looking at the first screenshot, 4 is the bottom right, 5 is top right, and 6 is left of 5, 7 is across the street of 5, and 6, haven't started on 7, besides the two bridges yet. You'll notice weird sculptures, red one that's like on some pedestrian bridge (Seven's plaza) is the Bent Propeller, most noticeable thing just by looking above or slightly above is the grey square with some kind of pavement design, with a stage, and a fountain is the Austin Joseph Tobin plaza, the one looks like an "A" shape between the towers is the Ideogram, the golden black one is the Koenig's Sphere (Unfortunately the artist whom made the sphere has passed away around a month ago) but his art survived, black weird pyramids is the Cloud Fortress, bottom I made some panoramas so y'all, and a photo to compare with one of them, you'll know. It's not like 100% accurate because of its scale, but hopefully I capture the feel, and hopefully you appreciate though how much detail and accuracy I put into it. Would love to explain a lot more, but want to keep this a decent length, after all, the screenshots talk for me, but needs a bit of explanation so y'all know what's going on, and a bit eager to share with y'all. Hope I didn't confuse y'all and hopefully this is in an appropriate, better section to talk about my project. [Freebuild] The Museum Thief

Built for Brickscalibur ("Where's Waldo?" category). The infamous thief Odlaw thought this would be an easy job. Break into Baron Ruprecht's private collection, take as much as he could carry, and leave as quickly as possible. Suddenly he heard the footsteps of an approaching guard. Panicking, he searched for a hiding place somewhere in the collection. Can you find Odlaw? Hint: look for the eyes...
  23. One of the reasons I'm excited about the 2023 Hogwarts Express is that I hope it gets people into building steam locomotive MOCs. This happened for me by modifying it's predecessor, 75955 20230508_162151 by Sam Szeto, on Flickr I got two copies of 75955 cheap on eBay. My aim was to make the locmotive look more like a GWR Hall Class, whilst keeping it "LEGOish". I wanted it to be able to run on R40 tracks, with power functions. I also wanted to mainly use parts from the sets, with some from my own collection, and not have to Bricklink anything. This meant it had to be 6 wide, and use a similar boiler design. Also no custom wheels/rods/stickers. 20230508_162212 by Sam Szeto, on Flickr The original locmotive's proportions were rather tall and not long enough. I extended the boiler by 4 studs, and the firebox and the smokebox by 1 stud. I need to take a better photo, but I'm quite proud of the taper on the boiler. It extends by 1 plate, over 12 studs. The rear of the boiler is clipped to the firebox and the smokebox. The smokebox is not attached with studs to the running board, but on a Technic axle, so it can legally be a fraction of a stud off grid. I also added droid arms to create break rigging and sand pipes. 20230508_162243 by Sam Szeto, on Flickr 20230508_162447 by Sam Szeto, on Flickr 20230508_162508 by Sam Szeto, on Flickr The biggest challenge was getting the pony truck to go around R40 curves, and not interfere with the cylinders. This was an absolute headache - a lot of MOCs I've seen in recent years, are designed for wider curves, or they have the second set of pony wheels fixed, and only have one set of flanged drivers. I didn't want to do this so I created a pony truck with a sliding front axle. The pony truck can pivot to a fixed angle, than there are stoppers under the cylinder, which stop it moving any further. As the axle is free to move axially, it will un-centre itself to go around the bend. It works, but looks a bit strange, and is something I want to improve on the next version. 20230508_162221 by Sam Szeto, on Flickr Tender has all the PF components. Again for simplicity, I used the normal train motor guards (and mimicked the design around the front wheels), but I want to improve this in my next version. Also, for part reuse, I'm using the trap door from the original's tender to mount the train motor and thread the cable. 20230508_162629 by Sam Szeto, on Flickr 20230508_162711 by Sam Szeto, on Flickr The coach isn't meant to be a BR Mk1. I don't have any dark red parts, so I just decided to extend the official coach out to use a proper train base, whilst keeping the removable wall from the playset. I also have some older windows in my collection which were quite useful. If interested, their are more photos on my flickr. When I have the time, I'd like to do a full rebuild in 7 wide using custom wheels, with dark red Mk1s. But for now, I'm happy with this - I'm glad LEGO's play set was mis-proportioned as it inspired me to do this. Already working on a proper MOC now . References A lot of inspiration was taken from Phil B's incredible MOC/MOD @Phil B, particularly with the tapered boiler using the original set's design
  24. "This is where the fun begins!" My latest ship from the Prequel Trilogy has arrived, and it surely was a lot of fun to make: here's Obi Wan's Eta-2 Actis Interceptor from Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars. This small unit consists of 281 pieces (stand included), and has one major feature: true Minifig scale! There's a handful of beautiful MOCs of this ship out there already, but most of them are based on the huge cockpit piece from the playsets, so they're drastically oversized. So here I am with a, dare I say, more accurately scaled version. It does come with a drawback, you guessed it: you can't put a fig inside. A bit ironic I know, but I chose to go for a brick-built cockpit in order to get as close to the original design as I could, prioritizing accuracy over playability, as usual. The wings were pretty challenging given the ridiculously small scale, and my goal was to have them as thin as possible without compromising the SNOT look. I'm quite happy with the result and I think this makes a nice little display piece. It's also very swooshable despite the intricate wing design. I'm usually not a fan of stickers, but I thought this one deserved some sweet markings. I used the sticker sheet from the playset - it is included in the parts list. The color scheme can be changed to red with only a few part swaps (see last page in the instructions). ► Instructions for the Eta-2 Actis Interceptor are available at Rebrickable. 25. So I built my expanded modular Pixar UP house, but the box it's going in has room for another building of 16x32 size. Instead of just making another building from scratch, I decided to transplant Edna Mode's fashion shop onto a modular standard base. You can see the results below. This model was partially inspired by the both buildings in set 10308 - Holiday Main Street from the Winter Village collection. I added a back to it, changed the color scheme around and fixed some areas. I also replaced the original toys with clothing items for sale to make it into a shop for fashion designer Edna Mode from the Incredibles film franchise. (Apparently she has branched off from superhero costumes into the regular fashion market.) The rear has a delivery entrance and a simple porch light on the first floor, while the second / third floors have the chimney flue. On the inside, the lower floor has the shop full of items for sale - from tiaras to top hats, pants to suits. Upstairs is Edna's workshop, complete with sewing machine and long folds of different-colored cloth. I also have a heater / cooker, and a bunch of drawers full of patterned cloth pieces and clothing designs. The vintage sewing machine was from free instructions seen on Rebrickable by user @Scarlet_Patronus. (The lower floor's display cases were also based on items from this talented builder.) The third floor contains Edna's office complete with vault filled with gold, a desk with two chairs, some green kryptonite in a lead-glass case, (a gift from Batman) a old-fashioned TV on a bunch of cabinets, and a Superhero phone on a printed wall piece. This fabulous 1951 Hudson Hornet was originally a @hachiroku design of a Hudson Hornet that I modified quite a bit to be Edna Mode's car. The reason for this specific design is I was struggling to come up with a good 8-wide 1950's / 60's car design for her for use with the tailor shop. Then I remembered I had this design of a blue Hudson Hornet, (extremely similar to the one in CARS) and it just clicked. The car fit the era nicely, and it was high-end enough for Mode to drive without it seeming too odd. You can find the original builder's version here. The rear of the vehicle. The roof is removable and can seat a single mini-figure. EDIT 5/17/23: third floor finished, and all-new pictures added! Thoughts?
