  1. Part I - Rock Raiders 2.0: Hope Part II - Rock Raiders 2.0: Granite Grinder The report was clear, but Jet struggled to make sense of it. “Extraction to be completed in T-40 minutes. Subject needs transportation from complex DF91 directly to the laboratory ASAP. Report immediately. Coordinates in the attached document. Full discretion” She knew the tunnels like the palm of her hand. She transported everything from radioactive malachite geodes to million years old fossils. And they all had one thing in common: heavy duty. But there was something strange about the report she just received. Even though Dr. Mallory’s studies were classified, people knew it was focused on energy-based minerals – in microscopic cell formations. “...Intact crystallized bacterial magnetite... high concentration of the element N72XH... 8.6 tons of concentrated matter... possible disintegration and contamination” 8.6 tons? For a microcellular study? It felt wrong. But how could it? The report came directly from Dr. Mallory Lynch. And no... Dr. Mallory Lynch was never wrong. A thousand colored lights flickered as the flight deck came to life. She pushed the thrust lever and felt her chest tremble with the roar of the double PW5000 rotors swirling parallel to her ears. The turbines on the T.T.VTOL hissed and echoed though unknown subterranean caves. She was up in the air once again. In the dark, Jet smiled remembering Dr. Mallory’s last request. “Full speed, Jet”. _________ Were Rock Raiders part of your LEGO life? The Tunnel Transport, set 4980, was my favorite Rock Raider transport. Something about the rotors, how massive this aircraft was. Oh! And the playability with magnets, of course. So, here is my updated version (T.T.VTOL) of the Rock Raiders’ Tunnel Transport, set 4980-1, from 1999. Third and final part of my Rock Raiders Revamp. Hope you like it as much as I do (and did back then). And hopefully it will inspire you to bring this awesome theme back to life. Keep on building! Louis of Nutwood

    Aquasharks Drill Squid

Even the Aquasharks sometimes mine for crystals themselves
  3. Part I - Rock Raiders 2.0: Hope Part III - Rock Raiders 2.0: Tunnel Transport The message was sound and clear, but Sparks had to check it again to believe it. For the sender was no other than Dr. Mallory Lynch. “Vista Ridge, tunnel complex FD91. Coordinates in the attached document. Report immediately. Full discretion.” The experienced mining engineer opened the report and struggled to keep his jaw from hitting the floor. “... Intact crystallized bacterial magnetites, believed to derive from organic matter, with high concentration of the element N72XH” Could it be true? Could she have finally found the crystals? After thirteen years under the ground, of extensive research, of drilling whole after whole, tunnel after tunnel, Sparks’s purpose and ambition had slowly faded into an unreachable dream. But if the reports were correct... everything changed. The official stamp of a drill breaking the soil marked every page. And that distant dream, suddenly became reality. His heart burst with the potential meaning of the discovery, but the last sentence in Dr. Mallory’s message made him chuckle like a kid for the first time in a decade. “Oh... and bring the Grinder” ... As you wish, Dr. ________ Were Rock Raiders part of your LEGO life? The Granite Grinder, set 4940-1, was the first R.R. of my collection. And this beast is hardcore! So, I had to give him a little update and facelift. This is part II of III. For the final part, I’ll share my take on my favorite Rock Raiders set. Can you guess which one it is? Hope you enjoy it as much as I do (and did). Cheers! Louis of Nutwood
  4. For a long time I wanted to build some Rock Raider MOCs. I loved playing the game and with the sets when it was new and remember playing a lot with it and building things from the game (with the wrong colors). Sadly I never had the big sets but I did have the the Loader-Dozer and a couple of small sets so I did have most minifigs and the rock monster except the Chief. So I recently started putting some figs together and started updating them, and also added some extra characters. Rock Raiders 2.0+ by Ids, on Flickr From left to right: - Raiden (a new miner to expand the team) - Nari (a rookie engineer, helps Sparks with his tasks) - Wiz (a Zotaxian expert in energy crystals and Voltstones) - Sparks (an expert on all things mechanical and electrical) - Jet (the most courageous and strong-willed of all the Rock Raiders, she is a very skilled pilot) - Chief (the oldest, wisest and most experienced Rock Raider) - Docs (the head Geologist and Commander) - Bandit (the greatest sailor) - Axle (one of the best drivers of the team) - Rocky (a robot) - Krenxx (a demolition expert) When building the figs, I realized I had to also build some vehicle for them, for FebRovery (see also this topic: [MOC] Febrovery 2022 a story of rovers - LEGO Sci-Fi - Eurobricks Forums) I made one: FebRovery 2022 - 25 by Ids, on Flickr Heavy Tunnelator by Ids, on Flickr The search for energy crystals continues, the Heavy Tunnelator is a new Rock Raiders vehicle, the drill can be pushed out of the vehicle to drill from a safe distance. An experimental function of the vehicle is that the drill can be remotely controlled from inside the cabin, and can continue to drill without being attached to the base. And today I also finished some small ones: Rock Raider scouts by Ids, on Flickr Two small Rock Raider vehicles. Made an updated Hover Scout and a small scout rovers. Thanks for looking and let me know what you think, I will probably work on some more vehicle when I have an idea.
  5. Part II - Rock Raiders 2.0: Granite Grinder Part III - Rock Raiders 2.0: Tunnel Transport The ground shook, and a deafening roar echoed through the unknown corridors running under the earth. Her heart burst. After 20 years, Dr. Mallory, the most reckoned geologist in the western world, was still uncomfortable with the darkness, the indecipherable sounds, the invisible infinite pits, the imminent danger of working with the strange in nature. The sacrifice. Being way beyond the edge of safety. But it was all worth it after all. If it meant finding a cure... something to keep it from spreading... it meant hope. The numbers were correct, as always. The readings in the NordicEM24 Receiver were matching. And a blinking light at the edge of her equipment meant only one thing. She was close. The white beam of her flashlight cleared the subterranean aisles of rock and dirt, and a distant green sparkle tainted the darkness. She approached. Slowly. Carefully. With every step, what was once a little twinkle, became a blinding show of a radiant fluorescent wall, emblazoned with crystals. Her eyes filled from within, and the truest smile took her lips. Finally, she thought. Finally! ________ Were Rock Raiders part of your LEGO life? This theme was one of my childhood's favorites in the late 90's. I've been willing to work on a R.R. Revamp, and it finally came together. This is part I of III. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do (and did). Cheers! Louis of Nutwood

    [MOC] Rock Raiders Mining Mech

Hello! Do you remember Rock Raiders series? In my opinion that theme had a big potential. This time I'm glad to present you my variation of Rock Raiders crew's mining mech. That mech is bigger than last one. Needs more power and weight to mine all important minerals. 11. Hi everyone , it's been like 16 years i'm out of lego... now...one event leads to another...aaand i'm kind of back into it. what should i say... stayed at my parents place... had nothing to do... went to the basement and had to decide what to grab: laptop vs. box of old legos... spent the whole evening building the rock raiders tunnel transport (nothing ultra special but it has something to it besides memories ). ...and that was it. So, before posting pics i have to give credits to the original idea: Lego Ideas - Civilization: Beyond Earth Worker Mech and here is, what i made out of it: it was fun to build and works mostly fine (you could play with it). I realy like the function of the shovel with the two little levers/antennas holding the arms in place! The only flaw is the cockpit, because everything is quite loose... but that's negligible . Still needs a little bit done here and there, but that's it for now. well...stuck two lasers on it for maximum "pew pew" That's it so far. Thanks for reading and have a nice day

    Rock Wrecker

My second build for the 2017 LEGO Speeder Bike Contest, for the Overkill Oval category. The track was probably the most difficult part of this build, and it ended up going through several iterations before settling on the current design. Ready to tear through opponents, the Rock Wrecker’s brutal saw and powerful laser are a deadly combination. And if things really get out of hand, its deployable missiles in the hidden undercarriage compartment end things with a bang. More pictures on Brickbuilt Thanks for looking, C&C welcome
  16. I've built this small MOC two days ago. It's a Rock Raiders dump truck with a small drill and radar dish. And rised cabin for overview. 17. So here it is, my biggest project after Hogwarts is finally completed! with a part count of something in between 7000-8000 parts! It have taken me 2 months to build this monster and I have to say that I'am more then pleased with the result! Now something that you have most likely noticed is the extremely poor photo, don't think that I doesn't care about the photo but I just don't have any camera, nor does anyone else in the family so this is the best I can do (like, it really is as good as it gets, I've tried to get a decent shot for a week now...). I hope you like it despite that. Something that I noticed yesterday that I thought was quite funny is that I uploaded my first Rock Raiders MOC a year ago :-) This is also the biggest Rock Raiders MOC ever made right now btw ;-) Lego Rock Raiders HQ [MOC] by =DoNe=, on Flickr Lego Rock Raiders HQ [MOC] by =DoNe=, on Flickr Lego Rock Raiders HQ [MOC] by =DoNe=, on Flickr
  18. Last week I've made a new concept vehicle for the Rock Raiders 2 game: Drill Craft 2,0. It's a new version of the original Rock Raiders set 1277 Drill Craft: http://brickset.com/sets/1277-1/Drill-Craft I've tried to build a lot of details in this MOC, added better drills and give it a more speeder look. pictures: 01_Drill-Craft_2.0 by LegoMathijs, on Flickr 03_Drill_Craft_2.0 by LegoMathijs, on Flickr 02_Drill_Craft_2.0 by LegoMathijs, on Flickr 04_Drill_Craft_2.0 by LegoMathijs, on Flickr I hope you like it

  20. Today I thought, that I should share this spaceship here, because despite its flaws (it may look a bit boring and repetitive) I think, that it's still a pretty decent ship, which fits into this part of the forum (here are already some Rock Raider MOCs). This post is similar to the one, that I have made on rockraidersunited, but without the development of rather bad pictures to pictures, that I have made in POV-Ray etc. XD, but since I haven't uploaded all pictures on flickr yet, there is still some stuff in the rru-thread, that isn't here (like a separate model of the bridge): http://www.rockraide...file-available/ I will also post 4 other MOCs (3 smaller LMS Explorer models and one action-figure MOC) on eurobricks :). 21. Last week I've made the Ultra Fast Tunnel Speeder. The Rock Raiders using this speeder for fast movement trough caves and other places where other flying units can't reach. The speeder have an basic equipment such as two lights at the front and a radar dish at the backside of the speeder. And extra elements that gain more stability and fast movement. The chassis of the speeder is a combination of Technic and bricks, which hold together by pins and plates. 22. [i combined two threads from rockraidersunited to make this post/topic more compact.] What contains 1178 pieces and looks like the LMS Explorer? If you guessed something but the 1:16 LMS Explorer, you we're wrong. I thought a long time about the idea of building an even smaller version of the LMS Explorer, because more people would be able to recreate it at home due to the lower piece count (things like the lack of some teal bricks are still a problem though). It was a bit difficult to integrate some details (this version has its flaws) and the 1:16 version doesn't look near as good as the 1:8 version, but I hope, that you still enjoy it. [2015-11-23]: I made new pictures with another render program (personally I prefer the new result):
  23. [As promised in my 1:1 scale L.M.S. Explorer thread this is one of the smaller L.M.S. Explorer models] In January 2012 I thought, that it would be a funny idea to build a smaller version of the L.M.S. Explorer, which could actually be build without owning the inventory of several Lego Stores ;) (turns out, that it's still impossible, because those cheese-slopes and other parts aren't produced in some colors like teal etc.). The result is the "Mini" L.M.S. Explorer. pieces: 5320 (aargh, so many small pieces^^). My latest version has ~5000 pieces (I eliminated some smaller flaws and exchanged smaller parts with bigger ones to reduce the brick count). building time: hmm, maybe 30 to 50 hours (changes not included) scale: not exactly 1:8 but very close to it (~1:8,25) (compared to my 1:1 scale version of the LMS Explorer, which is 975 studs long) construction program: LDD (but I have converted the model into ldr (MLCAD) and lcd (LeoCAD) files, too) dimensions: Length: 116 studs/ 91,36 cm/ 35,97 in. Width: 17 studs/ 13,49 cm/ 5,31 in. Height: 16 studs/ 12,70 cm/ 5,00 in. [2015-11-23]: I made a new picture with another render program (personally I prefer the new result):
  24. Last week I've made the Tracked Crystal Digger. It's a concept for the Rock Raiders 2 game. The Tracked Crystal Digger is a compact mining vehicle with several mining tools: -Drill -Mining laser -Radar -Two ground scanners for searching energy crystals And the tracks makes this vehicle suitable for rugged terrain. Rock Raiders Tunnel Transport 2.0

A few months ago, I've made this MOC. The Rock Raiders can use this vehicle to transport energy crystals and mining equipment to locations what's not reachable for ground vehicles. It's based on the original Rock Raiders 4980 Tunnel Transport. But it's not a replacement for the original one, but a extra air unit with more functionality;) Landing pads adapts to the surface Cabin and engines can be connected together Crystal carrier Bobcat More photo's at Flickr: Hope you like it :)
