  1. Hello everybody, I'm both a Lego fans and a train fans from China. This MOC is a very classic chinese engine. The prototype The MOC is 7 studs wild and 44 studs long. Driven by and XL motor. tthee Video Link: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XOTI0NzI4OTQ0.html Intruction: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=marbleman Hope you like it.
  2. Hi all, Long time lurker, first time posting. I came out of the dark ages (15yrs +) last year, saw all the amazing trains I'd missed (damn Maersk and EN) and decided to try my hand at a MOC - The new(?) pieces on offer these days are amazing! The following is all made up btw, it's loosely based on real engines and a bit of the LEGO Lone range train thrown in "The Persian Blue Express is one of the fastest in it's class, with almost unmatched speed for it's pulling power. Shown here is the model T version, which was used to carry the King and Queen through the Great Western plains. Following it's retirement in 1910, it has since made a comeback in 2015 with passengers from the city wanting to experience the regalia and nostalgia of the past." - Longer story is also WIP WIP, CC welcome please. I have a black clips and gold clips version. I'm learning towards the gold, although I haven't got any of those in my collection, but may well be brick-linked tonight! I've managed to build one side in bricks, have ordered all the blue bits I'm missing. I've also order enough parts to make an Emerald night carriage, so I'll hock that up when the parts arrive, before designing my own. Black Clips: Gold Version: Front: Cab: LDraw version, sometimes easier to see: And finally in real life! I built it in brick first, and then went to LDD, where I made some changes along the way..... I like the LDD file better than the brick built version now! The PF are in the tender, and it works well going round the track. (not with those Blue pegs though, annoying friction) - The T.C.R.R is from the Lone Ranger, I've yet to print my own stickers! Can anyone tell me how long the Engine of the EN is please? Mine is exactly two straight pieces long. Thanks Dylan
  3. Hello Community! It's been quite awhile since my last MOC. But I wasn't passive. In the meantime I've upgrated some of my models, especially the ones of my petroleum plant fire brigade "Jade Öl AG". So, let's start with a new special tanker equipped with a high reachable Turret, mobile water cannon and a heavy duty pump. It carries 7,000 liters of water and 3,000 liters of foam to the scene. You'll find a few more pics in the gallery on my blog. So, hope you like it. Comments and critics are welcome as usual. More MOCs to come. Regards!

    IDENTIFY villiers engine

hey guys I have a unidentified Villiers engine and it is one I have not seen before. it has a 1:5 gear reduction built into it and is a four stroke engine. the carbie is a Villiers make and so is the flywheel. any help would be appreciated photos soon to come
  5. Hi all. Here's my (WIP) first attempt at a steam engine. So far I'm pretty happy with the boiler and tender. The cab, wheels, centre coupling and some details need work but they'll have to wait until I can get more bits. The chasis isn't very strong when handled at the moment, may redesign from scratch. It's also having derailing issues on corners - I think the problems the current centre coupling. C&C welcome.
  6. MOC. Built January the 21th-22nd, 2015. The challenge was to use ONLY & EXCLUSIVELY the Lego movie set 70813 "Rescue Reinforcements" and ONLY the pieces of the fire mech (bags 1,2 and 3). So please keep in mind that my options were limited. My inspirations were the Transformers Inferno from Generation 1, his Classics/Universe version, and the TF3 movie Sentinel Prime. The vehicle mode is a big fire truck with a ladder (360 degrees of rotation and goes up and down). Thanks to the good amount of joints the robot is well poseable. It doesn't have an head because is driven by a pilot sitting in the cabin (enough room inside for a minifigure). The transformation is simple and relatively fast. All the steps here. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/405126
  7. I have just completed the modifications to incorporate the suggestions for my 6 wide power functions shunter. Please let me know what you think and I welcome suggestions for how it can be improved. Thank you all for your support on https://ideas.lego.com/projects/82031 I regret we have only 100 supporters now so I don't forsee this getting up as the 50th anniversary of Lego Trains train. Fortunately James Mathis has what I think is an even better idea https://ideas.lego.com/projects/86744 so if you haven't supported this one I can highly recommend his. The biggest change is the ability to now turn the battery box off and on by pressing the front of the forward dome. I have some pictures on Flickr that show how it works. https://www.flickr.c...57649279163680/
  8. So a couple of people have asked for a more detailed look at some of my MOCs, and who am I to say no? Each gallery will come with the LDD file. Although the LDD designs are always my own work (unless otherwise stated), a lot of inspiration will have been taken from other people's work. I will endeavour to credit anyone who's work has inspired me. To make things easier, I'll provide a link to all my MOCs from this first post: Locomotives - Coaches - 6 Wide Pullman Wagons - More MOCs to come! 6 Wide Pullman The basic style for this build was very much inspired by youtube user technoandrew's Pullmans. LDD File: Click me! LDD notes: Roof is held on by friction alone. Turn tables fit into the smaller arched formed windows to make the toilet windows. The 2x4 black tiles (of which there should be 4, not 2) fit into the larger arch formed windows to represent the door windows (and hid the ugly stuff behind them). The frames under the coach are formed using some chopped 3mm hose.

    MOC: Crocodile Locomotive

I like Swiss crocodile locomotives. I think Lego came out with a couple of versions of them that I missed in my Dark Ages. I took some creative license and built a dual crocodile locomotive for twice the jaw crunching traction power. We have Killer Croc from the Batman theme as the driver/engineer. Let's go for a train ride with the family. Crocodile Locomotive by dr_spock_888, on Flickr

    MOC: LDraw Fire Engine

I have a decent sized Lego fire department that I and supplementing with LDraw apparatus to fill in for missing trucks. My question is what is everyone's preferred angle to view these in LDview? Do most people just stick with the standard 2/3 view or change the lat/long of thier renders? This angle just seams unnatural to me. Maybe because when I shoot them, I shoot them like I would an actual fire engine, and expect that angle of view. Thanks.
  11. Hi there! Like many others I ordered the Mini as soon as it was available. It is a great piece of kit, since I´m very fond the BRG-color I was really happy when it was presented. I think the designer has done a really good job overall - considering the limitations of Lego. It has some drawbacks though; The rear end just doesn't look right, the angles are a bit off. The engine bay is nothing but horrible, the lack of detail is just - well bad. Therefor I've made some customization's, to get it a bit more like I want it. I've tried to get the rear end to look more like the original car, I've changed the tail lights since they were completely off. I have to admit thought I'm not 100% satisfied, but at least i think its better than out-of-the-box. The tailpipe is relocated and enlarged a bit to get the car a little more attitude when seen from behind. I've also moved the fog light since I made it left hand drive - the main reason for this was because i wanted to be able to fit the steering-servo, with reservoir inside the engine bay. And this was not doable due to the air-intake hose. I've redone the front grille to get some more space for the engine-components, but I hope it doesn't show to much from the outside. I fitted some extra lights, (rally-style) and put some covers on them. And yes I've changed to "Mini-lites" to golden ones, this may not be liked by some - but I think the contrast lifts the BRG-color even more. I've also moved the wheels out 1/2 stud to better fill the wheel arches. Well I think that's is whats done to the outside, lets talk a bout the engine bay: New engine block Side mounted radiator, with hose and thermostat Air intake hose, plenum and injection New spark plug cables Steering servo with reservoir Washer fluid reservoir Fuse box Exhaust manifold, (although It cannot be seen in the picture, but it is there) In addition to changing the front grille, I've also made the hood thinner to get enough space for the redesigned engine bay. Well - enough talking, here are the pictures - hope you like them! Cheers!
  12. My entry for Model Team competition. This thing isnt very sirious build, but ive had fun. Its somekind of show dragster van based on VW T1, but very few thing are same as on original. Those things on the right side are air intakes for supercharger. Support wheels, so it doesnt fly away. Some racing colours. Flat floor as should be for a sirious racer, and theres a difusser too. Claustrofobic cockpit. So the rules say the model has to have at least one function. As a dragster dont have many i build badass "doors" (hope it count), And the steering wheel can be moved away :) (was trying on steering many hours, was close, but it wasnt good and it doesnt fit well in that flat floor. Wide open. The heart of the machine. Big V8 engine with millions of horsepower and tourques. Big rpm counter. Rollcage. A big bucket racing seats with 5 point belts. V8 with air intake hoses and exhaust, that black thing is gearbox. More photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/101783996@N06/with/14950986649/
  13. Hey guys, I'm new here and would like to present you the WIP of my lawn and garden tractor. At the moment, it features RWD, a turning blade and a V2-Engine. Both are connected to the RWD, which has a differential. The seat is variable, it moves in one stud steps. The front wheels are steered by the small steering wheel. Things I'm having on my to do list at the moment: - I'll have to optimize the partcount to give the lawn and garden tractor a nice body (194 parts at the moment). - Building the model in real life (this will happen next weekend). And I have a picture of the actual virtual model for you, which shows the drivetrain and the frame. In the model above I made the wrong picture, so you can't see the steering. My second picture shows you my virtual model with body parts. I'll use silver and black or red and black. I'll see which plates I have at home and use them in one of the two colour combinations. The basket isn't ready, when playing with the lawn garden tractor the player can remove it. Another small update: I changed the body design, because the first version of the body was too "fat".
  14. A little work in progress I started recently. I decided to marry together two of my favorite projects, the LPE and the Oshkosh HEMTT 8x8 trial truck. I'm going to power it by a portable air tank and long air hose. I could use regulated C02 and have a onboard tank (a 20 oz paintball tank), but my tank is running low. HEMTT: LPE: And some progress:

    [MOC] Fire Units

Here are my current fire units. These are for the Brickshore Fire Rescue District, which is the main fire department in my county, Brickford. This is Engine 1, a 2013 Pierce Velocity side-mount pumper. It has a 500 GPM Waterous pump with a 2000 gallon polycarbonite tank. It is eqquipped with a Federal Signal Vsion SLR lightbar and a Federal Q siren. This is the second version of Engine 1. You can check out the new one here: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/376620, and the old one here: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/374415. Up next is my Utility unit! This is the BFRD's Utility unit for Station 1. It runs with Engine 1 for MVAs, medical calls, and anything that involves a trailer. It is a Ford F-250, converted by KME into a small service unit. It has a hard bubble cover on the bed, but it doesn't hold anything. It has Whelen lighting, and as you will see, there is a traffic advisor in the back. The wheel are raised a stud, due to the trailer hitch, and I think that making it one stud higher makes it look a lot more like an F-250 than a 150. The truck is pretty much self explanatory; not much else to say. Check it out on MOCpages: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/376041. Last but not least, the command car. This car is a 2013 Ford Interceptor used the BFRD for the chief. That they don't have. We have the car, but not the Chief. Anyways, same as the Sheriff cars, blah blah. There will be two more of these; one for each station. This one is driven by the chief, and the other two will be driven by assistant chiefs. It's on MOCpages here: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/377101. Plus, the entire Brickford emergency fleet! Look below for 'Muricah pride! This is a car that would be, if you guys like it, more or less acuratly made into LEGO for the BCSD. I made this on Ford's Mustang Customizer. It is a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 that would be an unmarked pursuit unit for the Sheriff's Department. The reason why it would be a pursuit unit is because of the supercharged intercooled 5.8-liter 32-valve aluminum block V8 engine delivering 662 horsepower and 631 lb.-ft. of torque. Plus it just looks badass, hands down. Do you guys think I should go on a limb and try this? Post below!
  16. What's your favorite railway museum, and why? I was at the China Railway Museum here in Beijing a few weeks ago for the third time and it got me to thinking about all the wonderful train museums I've seen in my travels. I thought it might make for an interesting discussion here in the train forum. Mine would have to be the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri. It's been awhile since I've been there, but some pieces that stick out in my mind are the Big Boy (above, photo from their website) and UP 6944 (below, photo from UP150.com): This GM Aerotrain (designed to pull modified highway bus coaches for commuters) always fascinated me (photo from Wikipedia): They also have the original EMD FT Demo engine # 103 which is a model I always admired (photo from American-Rails.com): Anyway, they have a lot of stuff there! If you're anywhere near it, don't hesitate to take a look. Their web site is here. Besides the large array of historical pieces, the fact that it was within walking distance of my home factors in a lot to it's ranking as my favorite. A couple other American museums that I remember as being exceptional are: California State Railway Museum in Sacramento, CA B & O Railway Museum in Baltimore, MD ...but I'll leave those for others to discuss as I'm not so familiar with them. Oh, the China Railway Museum in Beijing? It's pretty good! It's completely enclosed in one huge shed and they have an interesting array of motive power there. It would be better if they had more English placards and maybe a bus that goes there as it can be tricky to find and hard to get a taxi out of. If you happen to be in Beijing and have an afternoon to kill, go take a look. Their web site (in Chinese) is here, the Wikipedia entry (in English) is here. They also have an annex in the center of the city in the old Qianmen Railway Station, but I've never been there. I don't think that there's any rolling stock there. Ok, so which museum(s) is/are your favorite? Joe

    MOC: Yellow Shunting Engine

Hi all, I present my second train creation in bricks here An invented shunting engine to power my RENFE Bed-car 9600 Series This is not a nice, or real shunting engine, but works well and have enought torque to move the cars without problem. and work in all Lego train curves The motor is a 88002, that have more power that I thought, the tip is to put weight on it to prevent slippage of the wheels. Is full PF with a custom Li-Ion battery (2500mAh in this case) Detail of the custom PF Li-Ion Battery Pulling the Bed-car The No-Conventional coupling A Conventional Old-magnets coupling I hope you enjoy it
  18. Hello again peoples :) I present here another Tank Engine MOC, this one based off a train that once ran through my back garden from 1830's to the 1950's! :O Sadly, it was retired and scrapped and retired after the roads became more popular, but it was one of the oldest railways in the world. Out of all my Engine MOCs, i'd say this is my most 'advanced', and by far my favourite! I'm very pleased with the result. Here's a picture of the real thing ( A painting, I know, but it's the best one I could find :P ) Let's see how my one looks in comparison! Please forgive the camera quality, I have to use my phone sadly. :/ Here's the 3/4 front view! The coupling system will work different to the Lego magnetic one, due to my own scarcity of those parts. I'll use two of those pieces that are 2x3 with the holes in the front. I like the look of the buffers, and i cheated a bit with the engine "face", because I don't have that part in black :( I used black insulation tape to colour it black, without permanently affecting the part. I also left two dark grey lines for those things Steam engines have, I think it's a hinge for the door or something?? :S Here's the illustriative back view: If I had two dark grey 2x1x2 window pieces, they'd be there, instead of the angry eyed look it currently has :( A side view, showing the studless nature of the engine: I had to leave the front wheel a stud up from the tracks to allow it to turn on curves, because the back two wheels are a motor. I've made it so the rear buffers come off easily, in case I want to motorize it some day. Here's the inside of the cab: It's a 4x4 space, with a firebox underneath the controls. Here's the final view of it, on my work in progress town layout! I made a makeshift carriage for it too, but it's not worth seeing, I might post pictures later on when I make some proper carriages for it. Please let me know what you think of the engine! Leave me some constructive criticism too please. :) Axle

    [MOC] - The white dragon

Hi all...i'm not a very active user over here but i appreciate the overall quality of moc's i see on this forum, so i wanted to share my latest creation: The white Dragon It started out to be a GARC racer but i liked the overall shape so good with just one pilot in the cabin that i couldn't break it apart ;) It's in some way inspired by manga mechas (the red wings and little antennas etc...) and was mostly build with exoforce and space police parts (plus some orders on bricklink for the final details) Actually the engine was meant to be something much bigger (http://www.flickr.co...157632734552194) , but i couldn't fit the hull around it so it had to shrink (and that was good). The white dragon is a mercenary class ship, super fast to transport his bounty hunter in every possible corner of the galaxy as fast as possible. (Here it is resting on it's refuel base) I hope you'll like it: Have a look at the whole set here: any comments&critics appreciated ;) (and sorry for the bad pictures..i need to get me some proper equipment to take better shots)
  20. I just found this piece in my Legos, the old "engine piston". I also found this piece and made a more compact connecting rod and crankshaft than the older models without having to have the cylinders offset. I also got 8 of this piece in yellow for making a v8, just placing them on top of the old piston squares. For a more accurate cylinder though, you would need this piece, except with a square hole so the piston could fit through. Here is a picture of the complete connecting rod and piston with a size comparison to the newer one: I think it could be useful for large models without pneumatic engines for better scaling.
  21. Inspired by Locomotive Annie's recent 'Steam Electric Locomotive' topic and Electrosteam's 'Bag of Ideas' topic, I threw together this little MOD. Car #168 is the end result of a secret program started by the CIA in 1964. The previous 167 cars all met a grisly demise on the test track, incurring the loss of numerous personnel. The work was so hazardous that hardened criminals who were offered reduced sentences were about the only people willing to work on it. Haircut (pictured here with his guard) was one of the few to survive. The engine was designed to air-lift itself behind enemy lines where it could wreck havoc in it's own unique way. Most of the interior of the car contained various weapons including large calibre machine guns and missle launchers under the retractable roof. There was also room to store the rotors when not in use as, obviously, they would cause a bit of a problem with bridge and tunnel clearances. This prototype - the first to successfully complete trials - was launched from an aircraft carrier when it suddenly developed engine problems and presently it rests at the bottom of the Gulf of Tonkin. The crew was able to paracute to safety however the general in charge of the program was secretly shot for embezzling funds and for being so daft as to think this was a viable project in the first place! Due to lack of funds the program was discontinued soon afterwards. Oh, what's this? The Atlantis team has stumbled upon the wreck! What are they doing in S.E. Asia? Aren't they supposed to be in the Atlantic or Mediterranean somewhere and what are the Fish-men doing at the wreck? There are rumors of rolling stock that were being developed as well but no photographs have ever surfaced. There are several researchers digging through the files, who knows what they might find...? Ok, hope you got a laugh out of it. I don't have much in the way of space, time or bricks...did the best I could. The 'Atlantis' shot probably would've been more successful from a higher angle, live and learn. Joe
  22. This little engine was inspired by the little shunting engine from LEGO's own City set, 4204 'The Mine' which it is pictured with below. This little engine is just 5 studs wide, and can run on rails at just 4-studs wide. The LEGO historians amongst you may recognise the character on which it's name is based. The engine is based on the iconic miniature engine 'Talyllyn', from the Talyllyn Railway, the worlds first preserved railway in Wales, United Kingdom. The aim was to not to create an exact replica of the engine, but rather it was a self discipline exercise to produce a set that would fit in nicely along side the rest of the LEGO City range. As well as to represent a steam engine at this small scale. Heres an image of it next the magnificent Emerald Night to appreciate the scale of the model. The entire 3-piece train is a tad longer than just the Emerald Night's Engine section! Had all the pieces been available in their respective colours I would have made a physical version of the model, but alas they don't, so instead this model was created using Bricksmith and rendered in POV-Ray (Thanks to C3POwen's awesome tutorial). I've decided to upload it to LEGO Cuusoo, so if you like please SUPPORT it there. It would be great to have an actual LEGO Train set that was more affordable to those with a smaller pocket, as the smaller sets in the Trains range always seem to be random rolling stock, railway furniture (lights, station accessories, etc) or track packs, not much with the 'swoosh/chuff' factor. There are more pictures as well as a second engine and some other rolling stock in the works which I'll post up here, and in its Flickr Album when they arrive..
