  1. We all know that LEGO will not release many of our favorite movie or television characters. Here is thr place to show off your purist figures! Rules (I know, bad word, but must be done): 1. Absolutely must be purist. That means no 3rd party brands, knockoffs, or any custom printing. These must be made from existing LEGO parts. 2. No Star Wars, Marvel, or DC characters. There are separate forums for those. 3. Keep the profanity to a minimum. We have people of all ages here. No hard cursing. Otherwise, let's do this!

    [MOC] Stranger Things

Hi Everyone! This is my Stranger Things LEGO Ideas set. Stranger Things is one of my favourite shows, so this was a passion project of mine, I spent a lot of time and effort into creating this set. While it was rejected from LEGO ideas and never made it onto the LEGO Ideas website, I'm still really proud of the end result and had a blast making it. Bellow follows some images of the project as well as a YouTube video with my commentary & more images. Another 10 images of my project can also be viewed through Flickr: Thanks for taking a look! I would love to hear and discuss any feedback, criticisms and thoughts anyone might have. Thank you!!
  5. Since this is becoming a whole series, I thought it's time for a general discussion topic. You can watch the trailer for the latest Justice League movie "Cosmic Clash" here: And here is an image of the DVD/BluRay combo pack that comes with the Cosmic Boy minifigure fittingly. According to the Brick Fan, It will be available on March 1 while the Digital HD version will be available on February 9. LEGO DC Comics Superheroes – Justice League: Cosmic Clash by Allen Tran, on Flickr The trailer doesn't look that exciting. Brainiac seems annoying and this feels like a retreat of the Lego Batman 3 plot, just with the Legion of Superheroes added in. On the other hand, I enjoyed the Legion of Superheroes cartoon back in the day and I really liked the last Lego Justice League movie, "Attack of the Legion of Doom", so I hope that they will be able to surprise me again and that the movie will be much better than the trailer makes it out to be. And yes, I believe in Batman too. What are your thoughts on this and the other Lego DC movies?
  6. Do you have a daughter? My daughter appears as a turbulence to my life of being an AFOL. An ordinary AFOL may build models no other than houses, robots, cars and other sci-fi stuffs. Girl-themed LEGO sets do not coexist peacefully with your former builds. This is my experience. Up to date I have not seen LEGO movie 2, but I think this is a major of the story line. I assign a special task while building this creation -- to create some "floating elements", including the LEGO Movie 2 logo, the house (which does not touch the base) and the spaceship (which is meant to smash the ground by the girly monster). I am very delighted I was awarded a prize in a building competition hosted by HKLUG (Hong Kong LEGO Users Group). 7. Personally, I think a LEGO Superman movie would be good. It could be like a parody of Superman's origin, where it tries shoe-horning in as much stuff as possible like Supergirl, Doomsday, Luthor, Brainiac, Zod, obscure Silver Age baddies, etc.
  8. Hi guys. As you know TLM2 is within our reach in 2019, there's some time for us to guess what references would like to be used. As we knwo from TLM1, there were quite many references used, especially in the "master builder" when many major LEGO themes representives showed up. There's a very high chance for the same thing going on again, but it's not like LEGO/Warnerbros would always be obedient to what fans want. (for example, the famous Disney-owned media case, we all know that), so I start this topic to check if each franchise has the chance to be in TLM2 or not. *References can be anything, the bigger one is of course having a character figure appear, the smaller one include buildings, world map, scenes, or even just lines. *This topic is mainly activated before TLM2 officially released and all referenced are digged out. *All franchises from TLM1 are all considered available options of references in TLM2, despite I personally wish to see new ones instead. Category 1: franchises between TLM1 and TLM2 Which weren't able to make it into TLM1 so they might be starred in the first place. UniKitty Oh well, the direct spinoff of TLM featuring the very lovely UniKitty! Honestly it seems not very necessary to show all other characters beside UniKitty if she is already the representive from that franchise. But it wouldn't be bad to give Puppycorn and the others in some footage when Emmet and others visit the re-built Cloud Cuckoo Land again. Mixels In some aspects of CN cartoon shorts, it's the predecessor of UniKitty series. I think it's fine to have one of the Mixels or use the cubits references, but not quite sure if this discontinued theme has the popularity in marketing? The Batman Movie Similiar with UniKitty, they might not have to highlight TBM either because Batman and other DC heroes have been featured, or the story is possibly in a different canon. But TBM have grabbed lots of fans and it'd be sweet to see Alfred, Dick and Barbara from the TBM canon also show up in TLM2. Elves One of the current long-running LEGO originals, with unique elf characters and world. It'd be nice to show any elf character as a master builder Nexo Knights The other current running LEGO original, despite it's gonna discontinue this year... Scooby-Doo I assume the chance Scooby appearing in TLM2 is 100%. No explaination. Jurassic World Also 100% chance to have Owen in TLM2 considerin how big this franchise is to WB. Minecraft I think it'd make it in. Especially wowing audience by literally throwing Emmet into the Minecraft worlds and making him chase by the zombies, that'd be fun. Team DFB Well, not sure, Perhaps these guys will take O'Neal's place to star in TLM2? The Angry Birds Movie I'm not sure about this one as well (or should say I'm not sure how is WB doing with Rovio). ABM is gonna have sequel in the same time, but if we're not having ABM2 sets then, would that mean also no any bird in TLM2 as well? LEGO Ideas exclusive franchises Including Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, The Big Bang Theory, The Beatles, NASA ladies All inroduced from LEGO Ideas, but Ideas franchises remain unknown. It'd be stated later. LEGO Dimensions exclusive franchises Including Sonic the Hedgehod, Gizmo, Jake, Betelgeuse... etc. Given that this film has the be closely based on physical figures, the other in-game characters might not be in the movie unless the sets have them. I'm neutral to see them in the film but the regular themes should still be prior IMO. Powerpuff Girls One of the extended franchise from the LEGO Dimensions, it'd make sense for them to be in as CN's main representives. Category 2: past franchises before TLM1 Franchises which didn't make it into TLM1 for unknown reasons. Back to the Future If not counting the original Minecraft building set, this is the very first minifigure-scale LEGO Ideas licensed franchise. However, for unknown reason Marty and Doc didn't make it into TLM1. Despite without any other official regular set, the characters still returned in LEGO Dimensions and this proves it is still an active LEGO license. So, if BttF finally get included in TLM2 canon for this time, the other later LEGO Ideas franchise might all have the chance as well? Friends Currently the second longrunning LEGO original franchise behind Ninjago, which just faced a new reboot this year. It was in the third year when TLM1 was introduced, but they were not really presented in this film (only cited in the world map as a small reference). But now given how notable this franchise it nowaday, any of the Friends should really be in the TLM2 cameo this time. BIONICLE / Hero Fcatory Similiar with Friends, it onlt got small reference from the world map. But it also face huge issue of not quite fitting in the minifigre-scale world as buildable figure toyline, it's even more cruel for being discontinued once again before TLM2 comes. But as an important page of the LEGO history, I still wish that LEGO at least make another reference in TLM2 for this time. Belville Duh... I dunno, like BIONICLE, maybe just a small reference is enough. Time Cruisers / Island Xtreme Stunts Since Johnny had made apperance in TLM1, I would suggest these two historical franchises gets footage in TLM2 for this time, and it'd be sweet if Pepper Roni or Dr. Cyber gets some redesign in physical LEGO sets. CITY Undercover Okay, since Chase McCain has made it into LEGO Dimensions, hopefully also in TLM2 as well. LEGO Universe / Clutch Powers It might just be my personal wish, but I do think LEGO still owe these two franchises a footage since they were suppsoed to be the origins of LEGO crossover projects despite being only in LEGO non-physical media works. Category 3: rumored future franchise after TLM2 Like how they inserted Milhouse in TLM1, it'd be predicable to have another one this time. Overwatch Okay, this is new, I wouldn't be too surprised to see Tracer hop in and steal Wyldstyle's glamor. Here's my personal prediction Main cameos: Unikitty, The Batman Movie, Nexo, Jurassic, MInecraft, Powerpuff Girls Small references / not quite sure: Friends, Elves, Mixels, BTTF, Team DFB What do you guys think? Do you have different ideas about these franchises or you have other unmentinoed options?

  10. Hello all, im not a very experienced train builder, but since i saw the movie "Unstoppable", i got inspiration to build trains, so, i made my own version of the 777 train of the movie in LDD, which if im not wrong its a BNSF GE C44-9W, so here it goes: Im not very talented for the aesthetics, thats why it is a bit ugly, it was supposed to have a yellow stripe on the sides, but i think it would look much better with stickers, however, i will see if i can make of bricks. I decided to make it 8 wide, to have more space for details and to make it more scale-realistic. The propulsion system its done by one battery box, one sbrick and 2 XL motors for each locomotive: And this is how it steers (it still can steer to take the normal curves) I hope you like it, i will try to post more pics of the working parts. Thanks.

[9v MOC] CMF vig: March Harriet

Hello everyone! What kind of ideas pop into your head when you hear of a "cmf 8x8 vignette contest"? Mind you, I eventually thought of Micromotor, 9V, Fiber Optics and a matching figure capable of delivering the goods (hint: it did). Here's what came out of that idea... Just a dance club, folks! Nothing to see here, carry on... It is fairly tall for a vig, but it certainly works give the space restrictions. The dim lights were a pain to film in my setting, although I tried my best. The show must go on, no excuses allowed! And no regrets for that matter. Welcome the Catwoman from the Batman Movie franchise! Double the fun!! Some technical shots. The old 9V system is invaluable for how smoothly it integrates into Lego System. Fitting the fiber optics element into 8x8 was one hell of a task. At times I felt like a car thief on a job... The floor, oh, the floor! Don't even ask. Some bits and pieces. The pole absolutely had to be chrome - a choice afterwards regretted... I dare you to find a sound, functional and purist solution of proper length if you don't believe me. A rubber wheel was the only option of attaching the piece as far as my knowledge of pieces goes. ...And the heat goes on... Now that's a club I wouldn't at all mind visiting... Hope you had a great time here, be sure to visit soon! And something tells me you might just do that... Thanks for your attention! Let me know if you had as much fun as I did! x)
  18. First of all, I'm not a videogame guy; I've never really played any video game, save for a few classic arcade games a couple of times. But, I am fascinated by many of the novel back stories and plots of numerous videogames, particularly those of a alternate historical basis. The three prominent videogame franchises that I think could make for some incredible movies are the Wolfenstein, BioShock, and Fallout games specifically. These three franchises have had been pondered upon by various film studios for film adaptations, but have currently been put on the back burner or shelved. One other franchise that I'd like to see adapted for film is Crimson Skies; but currently, it may not have much relevance now. So what cinematic videogame franchise adaptations are you anticipating and/or wish for? Discussion of movies focused generally on videogames and/or videogaming (Wreck-It Ralph and Ready Player One, for example) is also allowed by the way.

  20. Hello! In this topic I want share with you my experience on creating LEGO animation in Blender. Here is a LEGO movie I've created: Blender is a professional, free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, interactive 3D applications and video games. Software that I used to make this animation: LEGO Digital Designer Blender Sony Vegas STEP 1 First of all, I built all needed models in LEGO Digital Designer. STEP 2 I opened all models in Blender and created an animation. Then I rendered all scenes. STEP 3 All video files were ready, and the only thing I needed to do was to edit them in Sony Vegas. That was my first LEGO movie made in Blender. It took near 2 months to create it. Do you like it?

    Lego USCSS Nostromo with Refinery

Hi everybody, With the new Alien: Convenant movie coming to cinemas this May, I wanted to pay tribute to the original Alien motion picture (1979) by building the space ship in which this sci-fi classic is set – the USCSS Nostromo. Since there are already some beautiful Lego designs of the Nostromo ship (the “towing vehicle”), I wanted to do something different. As Alien fans will know, in the first few minutes of the movie, a massive refinery is moving silently through open space. I would try building this ore refinery! I hope you like the result and thank you for your feedback and comments. A special shout-out goes to the Arvo Brothers, who did some amazing Alien designs. Their work and our mutual passion inspired me to start this first Lego project . The Lego Model: Bricks: 3'144 Scale: 1:42000 (approx.) Length: 55 cm (22 in) Width: 40 cm (16 in) Height: 38 cm (15 in) Weight: 3.4 kg (7.5 lb) The build After doing some research; I started with new and old dark gray bricks. Halfway in the project the model looked like a dark “blob” and I decided to change the color to light gray. After I used up all my old gray bricks, I spend way too much money on buying bricks – especially small parts for the detailing. At first I thought the different coloring of the bricks would not work, but the fact it is not completely build out of new bricks fits the model well. The Challenges One of the main challenges, was the decision to having the top- and bottom section inverted. The reason for doing this, was to allow me to detail the model with round bricks both on the top as well as the bottom. It had to look like a refinery with tanks, pipes and structures. With every brick, it became more evident, the stability would be a challenge. The two biggest towers standing in the rear became quite heavy. This works in space with zero gravity, but on earth this means the model started tipping backward and looked more and more like a banana! After many, many trails and errors it finally worked in the end. I hope you out there like it! You can find all the pictures here on Flickr. Cheers, Remco
