  1. Hello all, This is my first real attempt at a Castle. Recently displayed at the Sydney Brick Show, which is where the photos were taken. I'll set it up at home in the near future to try and get some better shots. Castle Drabula is the home of the evil Dragon Knights as well as a few other bad people. They have captured the Elven Princess and locked her up in the dungeon underground. Her blue Drake has been chained up outside and tortured and tormented by the castle guards. Outside the castle, the head of the White Dragon (the most recent kill) is mounted on a spike. A trophy from the kill. The castle is defended by high walls, 4 guard towers and a lava moat. There is also the resident Earth Dragon who is more than happy to eat intruders and the occasional prisoner that the guards hand over... Front of Castle: Castle Drabula by Sam Wright, on Flickr The Dungeon: Castle Drabula by Sam Wright, on Flickr About the build: Built in modular sections on 32stud baseplates (4x4). Most of the top section (towers, walls and even some of the landscape) is easily removed to allow easy transport and storage. Light boxes in the small house inside the castle power the lights in the dungeon and out of the windows of the house. I got the Ninjago Earth Dragon set in a bulk lot a while ago. I like the build, but it is way too slim, so I bulked it up a bit. There is a photo of it on its own in my flickr stream. The front and side gates both open (although they are a little tight), and all the gates in the towers open and close. Future plans are to extend the layout to include the other side of the bridge. This probably wont be completed for quite some time yet though. Full album of the photos is here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskYqyf2b

    Tabashii's Tea House

Tabashii's Tea House While not originally created by the Skudae, the art of the tea ceremony is most significantly associated with them, and a number of tea houses exist in their capital of Civus Skudae. One of the most famous tea masters is Tabashii, who moved to the Western Isles to seek his fortune amongst the new Loreesi nobility. The nouveau riche of Port Valiant are frequently seen in his establishment, soaking up what they see as Skudae culture. This experience does not come cheap, and Tabashii himself has amassed considerable wealth from their desire to seek out new experiences and cultures. More pictures on Flickr.
  3. This build splits apart into 4 modules, each of which is a prize in the Castle Collaboration category of this year's Summer Joust. Faerdham is a large fortress housing a whole town inside its massive walls. More pictures available on brickbuilt. Thanks for looking
  4. As mayor of Fatu Hiva, I needed a beautiful, enchanted villa to show the natives how awesome I am. Well, I'm happy to say. The house is complete. It only took three months to build the house and property. One month to build the house, and property, and two months to make the roof of the house. I'm really happy with the results. The roof is fairly rugged - as long as you know where to grab it. This house encompasses two 30X30 octagons and two 18X18 squares for my Pirate collaborative layout. There will be another 30X30 octagon at the side doorway. Below are a couple shots of the stables. My daughter really likes this house too. You may have two questions in your head right now. Why does a little girl like this house SO much? Does this thing have an interior? Unfortunately, these questions are not for the faint-of-heart who fear strange horizons and for those who are by now... bored. So, I used a Spoiler. Thanks for looking.
  5. First of all: im pretty angry cause I just wrote this entire story, posted it and somehow the topic wasnt created . Please look at my flickr for more pics, couldnt include them all without having a huge post ^^ Davok: "Finally we saw the walls of Falconstone loom on the horizon. We had gotten two more compagnons, two magicians. I didnt trust them, not for even the slightest bit. One of them was an Algus, so then already you should think whats wrong. The second was some wolf-like creature, or maybe raven-like, but unlike something I have ever seen before. Everything black, sharp teeth, yellow eyes. Not the sort of stuff you wanna deal with. He was identified as our questgiver, and had some name I forgot. Its some synonym of Havoc, I dunno exactly." "As soon as we arrived, we went to set up our camp, and we started tunneling as soon as possible, out of sight from the wall, for the vision was blocked by our palissade. The black magician had decreed that we would tunnel to some secret room beneath the main tower, for our target would be there. He would take care of the target after we tunneled, and he and his fellow mage would help our main force to fake the siege and repel sorties." "Well, those sorties came sooner than expected. From the west Falco's ever-annoying cavalry came charging in, while from the east the Falcon Infantry was approaching. We struggled quite a lot while getting shot upon by fire arrows and bolts. Those arrows set one of our shields aflame, i wish we had made more of them to protect our archers... Luckily my men were capable and we could quite repel the attack, but everywhere were signs of dead bulls and...." "Come to your point, please", responded the Mitgardian commander "Well, this mage blew apart Falco 'n his men, I swear. But then we heard news from Tauro, who was dealing with the infantry. Some of the men were wearing King's crest on their armor. It appeared that they were King's guard. So, as one and one is two right, the King was here, and he was our target then, but we didnt know he was here. So we didnt know, you got me?" "We heard word of our tunnelers that the mage should get ready to enter the room. From then, it was only shouting, a flash of light, and then our man came back and said everything was collapsing right there. The king was dead, the mage disappeared, and we saw almost no one get out of the mess. So we went home, as soon as we could, with whatever forces we had left.
  6. I decided to modify some parts of the Goblin Village set and to add my own structures to make the playset feel much bigger
  7. Making a castle gate. Later going to build some houses and shops (after buying one more baseplate). I'm not very good at building, but tryin' to make something cool.

    The Headsman's Hovel

Even a headsman needs a place to sleep, eat and sharpen his axes. Take my money Brick Link, take it all!! So I finally decided it was time to grab some more greens, including olive, sand and as you can see here dark. The house was challenging to get so small, especially the front, which is split into 3 different parts, non of which are attached to the structure :p I like the tree although I ran out of black robot arms and I think the crows turned out alright. Also I don't know what I was doing with that pumpkin patch, its only there cause I ran out of dk green. So C&C wanted dead or alive and hope you enjoy :D
  9. What is the Summer Joust? The Summer Joust is a castle contest with 6 different categories that is open May 1st-June 30th 2017. The contest is hosted on Flickr in a dedicated contest group. This year there are prizes for 1st and 2nd in all categories (excepting the team category), as well as 3 individual awards.
  10. I Combined parts from Naida's Spa and the Water section of Skyra's Castle, so I guess it's not really a MOC, making a waterfall themed cave/home for Naida the water Elf and friends

    [MOC] History of LEGO Castle

I already had the concept of "little castles from different subthemes" last year, but I didn't have the time to build it. Not long ago, I realised that the Yellow Castle will be 40 years old in 2018. I've put the two things together, and created a Lego Ideas project to commemorate this anniversary of the Castle theme. The concept of this MOC is similar to the 4002016 set: recreate some of the iconic castles of the Lego Castle history in smaller size. I've chosen a castle set from each decade from the 1970s to the 2010s and created a little tower that resembles that set. It was built in LDD and rendered in Bluerender. It was the first time I tried Bluerender, and I'm quite satisfied with it, but the texturing of the missing minifig and shield decals was pretty time consuming. You can see more pictures here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/149157518@N03/albums/72157680073276641 If you like my MOC, please support it on Lego Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/171709
  12. After fulfilling his contracted task on the enchanted forests of the west region, Adam and Terryn started their return trip to Albion. They’ve been riding for 3 days and are now on BlueWater Castle region. The castle and the surrounding lands belongs to Sir Bridger and his beautiful daughter, Lady Melissa. Adam, but specially Terryn, are tired and in need for a resting place. Maybe Sir Bridger would welcome them on his castle to spend the night? Perhaps they could even get a chance to meet Lady Melissa and her legendary beauty… Hey guys, I was going to post these MOC on History Forum, but I thought it would fit well on the West Region of avalonia, my current Guild as it is home to mighty stone castles. Also, can I somehow put the castle on Avalonian map? Is that possible? I consider myself a castle builder, but I have never build a castle in the real sense of the word, so I thought it was about time I build one. As I’m working on a big display to my LUGs expositions (Comunidade 0937) and having access to a lot more parts I could go a little wild. :) This MOC stands on a footprint of 4x3 (48x48) baseplates and is more than 3 feet high. I had a clear idea of what I wanted to do since the beginning, but of course some modifications and adjustments were made along the build, such as the positioning of the various towers on the main walls or the shape of the half-timbered sections. A few facts and thoughts that I would like to share: - Its viewable from the 4 sides and completely modular so it can easily be transported. - Despite having access to more parts, I still had some limitations. So, for instance, I had to use more LBG 1x2 plates and 1x2 masonry dark tan bricks on the walls that I wanted but nevertheless I think it turned out Ok all the same. - The colors used on the landscape terrain are not the ones that I would like to use, but again, due to its size, I had to use more common ones. - I build this at home and took me about 250 hours in 50 or so days to build this MOC. - I have no idea how many parts it’s made off! If someone as a rough idea, please let me now. But I can tell you that just on the landscape alone and on the castle interiors I used around 10000 2x4 bricks of various colors and on the walls I used at least 4000 round 1x1 bricks. - The landscape was not my priority as it will sure suffer some changes and adding’s when integrated on the full display so I spend just 5 days on it and is not yet as I want him to look. - Also, the trees are somewhat simple as I need them to be brickbuild (for easier transportation and also due to time restrictions) but I kind like them that way. - Naturally, I’m a BIG noob in taking good pics and these are total crap (overexposed, poor lighting, poor focus). Taking reasonable ones was a huge #$#/&%$ pain and in my opinion it looks so much better in person :) Hope you all like it. It sure was an immense fun to build these one :) I will try to upload more pics in a few days before I get this huge thing in card boxes :) BlueWater Castle BlueWater Castle BlueWater Castle

    A Weathered Lodging

Hey everybody! I don't post here as much as I should, but I figure I might as well start again. This is my latest and greatest MOC. Took me a long time to get it to a state that I was happy with. And it isn't fragile either! Take a look at the video I made of it for a sturdyness test and to see some of the techniques I used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQdoRlA4ug8 A Weathered Lodging by Grant Davis, on Flickr
  14. Hey there! Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to finish my cat. B entry in time, but instead I have something else for you... (maybe I'll finish the entry as a freebuild somewhere in the near future...) As you know(or don't) am I the founder of the purple city of Kyrrath. And for a big part, it's similar to other city's in many ways. But when you look to the expansion of Kyrrath, than there is a difference with other citys. Yes, there are some houses that are just build up from the ground, but since Kyrrath has declared loyalty to the spire, there has been a second way of expansion: In a lot of places there are citizens that would like to be loyal to the spire, but do live in areas where most of the population is helping the resistance out. But now there's something beautiful, something magical for these people... When they use purple amethystdust from Kyrrath, and paint their roofs purple, their houses will come to live, and move towards Kyrrath, to settle there and be able to support the spire, The true leader of Nocturnus! Oh, and when the houses come across pirateships, or other buildings loyal to the resistance, they don't doubt destroying them... Here are the photos: This build is also an entry for the finals of The Tourney, that is the reason why this ship design is based at the design of my enemy over there, W. Navarre. But it is a complete rebuild, using my own techniques and designchoises. Credits to him tho for the original design of the ship. And lastly a picture of the house itself, without a ship covering the whole front... I hope you enjoy my build, and if you also want to live in Kyrrath, don't wait any longer, buy some Kyrrath' amethyst dust and paint your roof purple.... C&C always welcome! Have a nice day, Jaap
  15. This is my entry into the Architecture category of Marchitecture. It was a very fun challenge to work in the Architecture scale, and see how much of the real building’s detail I could capture. Due to the small scale, it was easy to make revisions, a good thing as it took quite a few experiments to get each area of the Chateau to look how I wanted. More pics on my website. Thanks for looking

    A statue forgetten

Standing lonely in the sea, a sight forgotten sailors once yearned to see. Seeming destined to be lost forever. Until now... A little teaser for a future build. Not sure when it will be built though, either soon or closer to the end of the year And I will do some more builds leading up to it. The Base style was inspired by the talented Jaaxaap. It was a fun little build to through together and I liked experimenting with the texture. C&C wanted and Hope you enjoy.
  17. Hi, this is my another brickfilm for LEGO contest (my other films here - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQ0_shPKG5mgCoZ89Ww56U5OxeztWkOrs). 45 second max duration. This time the goal was to show rebuilding of any Creator 3in1 set model. Either another one from the official set or your own original model. Of course I took second option :) Read more Link to movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uB9kqH380n4 Bigger photos and full story here: LEGO Gallery - [BRICKFILM] LEGO 31025 Mountain Hut goes Castle Follow my new MOCs and articles at: Facebook | Flickr | Google+ --- Notice: This is a shortened version of the post from LEGO Blog - Bricks' Treasure.
  18. Hello everyone. A long ago, I started a castle for an army of Fright Knigts. I have given you my personal touch and this is the result. In the future, I will upload more photos of construction progress. For my bad English I will not write much. These are the pictures. Hope you like. You remember that I am a old school builder! Regards!
  19. Nexo Knights is a good theme and all, but I've found myself wanting a normal Castle theme. Taking inspiration from the 2013 sets, I'm starting to create my own MOCs of possible Castle sets. First, here is what would be at the $11.99 price range: Ballista Attack: It has a spring-loaded shooting ballista, plus two Good Knights and two Bad Knights. Ballista Attack by VaderFan2187 on Photobucket Stay tuned for more MOCs! C&C are most welcome! VaderFan2187
  20. Hi all, this is not sci-fi work, but as requirements in contest I post in this forum. So we got here Crusaders running to their fortress from the Undead scourge. They are trying to open doors with the key. Noone is inside, noone can help them. Will they get into fortress? Not many left alive... CCC XIV: Forestmen Rescue

My fifth entry to the CCC XIV, for the ‘Pit of Despair’ category. The landscape was largely influenced by Dubbadgrim’s builds. The majority of this build was built in two days, as I wanted to take it to a LUG event. The castle features a working drawbridge, and a full interior in the tower. The doors of the prison carriage can open as well. After some forestmen were captured by crusader knights, their compatriots hatched a clever plan to free them from the dungeon: disguise themselves as crusader knights, bring more ‘captured forestmen’ to the castle, and then break the others free! But will they be successful, and slip through the castle guard un-hindered? Or will their clever plan backfire? Lots more pictures on Brickbuilt Thanks for looking, C&C welcome!
  22. My entry for the Colossal Castle Contest 14, in siege warfare category: For the siege of Constantinople, Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II(later remembered as the Conqueror) commissioned a Hungarian siege engineer to cast him a giant bombard, along with smaller other cannons. These cannons were instrumental in bringing down the Byzantine walls. For Honour

Usually I try build completely original mocs but once I saw this scene I could not resist. It is based off the main setting for the cinematic story trailer. I would have loved to use olive green but unfortunately I have nowhere near enough :P The characters where fun to make even though they may not completely resemble their original source. I don't play the game (because off our old family PC) but I would highly recommend it to anyone as it looks amazing. Hope you enjoy :D This is also a chance to try out the new peices from my first BL order. Mainly bley tiles :P

    [MOC] LEGO Life

An entry for the LEGO Life logo contest on Rebrick. Under each ‘stud’ on the brick, there is an 8×8 minifig scale vignette, in the same theme as the microscale build above it. I tried to represent three of the core themes of LEGO: City, Space, and Castle. This was a very enjoyable build, as I got to dabble in several themes, but it still all came together fairly quickly and easily. Lots more pictures on Brickbuilt Thanks for looking, C&C welcome
  25. Hi guys, I'm technically new but I've been reading content from this site for several years. Recently we learned that there will be no Castle sets in 2015. Knowing this, I went to my local Lego store and tracked down the store manager. I asked him if he knew if there were any Castle related products coming out that he knew of, and, to my surprise, he did. He said that Lego had sent him a memo recently that said they were working on a new Castle line due out late 2015- Mid 2016 at the latest. When I asked him what kind of Castle theme it would be, he said "It's a lot like the Castle theme from a few years ago, the one with the Dwarves and Trolls." I believe that this is referring to the 2007-2009 Castle line. He also said that the current Castle line will receive no further products and should be off the shelves soon. I am not sure if this is true, but it sounded like it was and the man seemed to know what was going on at Lego. If this is true....... Please discuss.
