  1. Hey all! I’ve wanted to start a personal story in GoH for a while now, and it finally is happening. I completed the second build of the start yesterday, and I hope there will follow a lot more… The story is about my sigfig and in the first episodes I’ll be telling the story from his youth till now, as he reigns over Kyrrath, The city of purple. Afterwards there will be new stories, but I don’t have any clear ideas for that yet(as I first need to complete these builds ) It has been almost 5 years now, since that day. that one day… Now it should be over, it’s time for justice! It’s time for revenge! Whispers Kiarr to himself. It all started peaceful. Kiarr and his twin brother Rignar grew up in a peaceful Mitgardian family. They were the only two children of their parents, and Kiarr was the oldest, as he was born a few minutes before his brother. But his parents favored his brother more than him, and that makes Kiarr angry. But as Kiarr was angry, it didn’t went that bad, as in their normal lives, there wasn’t a huge difference between Kiarr and Rignar. But that suddenly changed at their 10th birthday… It was a cold but beautiful day. And what makes it even more beautiful, was the 10th birthday of the twin brothers Kiarr and Rignar. And in their family, when you reach the age of 10, it’s a special celebration as from that moment you will be counted as a man, and get training in fighting/hunting and other important things man have to do. And to celebrate it, the oldest boy of a family will get a special ‘family’ axe. This weapon has an enormous value for the family members and it shows who will be the heritor of the family. That one day, everything started great. The whole family was ready for the celebration and was waiting for their uncle Wiglaf(sigfig of @[Claus von Nassau]) to bring the family axe, so the ceremony could start. And around 10 o’clock they heard the sound of a horse walking around the house. That has to be Wiglaf! And Kiarr, Rignar and their mum ran outside to welcome their uncle: Wiglaf has arrived and the ceremony could start. But then the moment came that completely changed the life of Kiarr(and his family as well… ) as Wiglaf doesn’t give the Family-axe to Kiarr (as he was the oldest son) but he gives it to Rignar! And it wasn’t even a mistake, as his parents do notice it, but don’t stop Wiglaf from doing this! Instead of the family axe he deserved, now Kiarr gets a magic box. It’s also a nice present, but it just can’t be compared to a family axe(as that also means he won’t be the heritor of his family)… And from that day on, Kiarr is looking for justice! Or he will be the most important son, or no one will! It’s five years later, and it’s their birthday again. Kiarr has practiced with his magicbox every day for five years now. And now he knows he is strong enough to turn this day into a nightmare for his family! It’s 10 o’clock. Like five years ago. But today his family is inside the house and he is outside. Kiarr creates a small purple magic-ball, and let it grow bigger… And when it has enough power, Kiarr throws the ball to their house. The house shakes, and flames are everywhere in the house. Kiarr keeps looking at it until the flames are extinguished. Then he leaves a purple sign at the floor of the house and flees.. No one knows what has happened and what the purple sign means.. only Kiarr himself knows it, but he has fled to Nocturnus. But when Kyrrath rises, things will come clear for other people… But that does happen several years later after this day, and will come clear in future parts of the story of Kiarr…. So here you have it, my first part of the story of my sigfig, Lord Kiarr.. Hope you enjoy it! Here are some more photos of the builds: The backside of the house: (actually I built this one a year ago, and it’s also at the Mitgardian poster….) The backside of the ruins: And an overview photo so you can compare the 2 builds: I hope you enjoy this build and story, and I hope to continue the stoy anytime soon... Jaap
  2. Hey there! Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to finish my cat. B entry in time, but instead I have something else for you... (maybe I'll finish the entry as a freebuild somewhere in the near future...) As you know(or don't) am I the founder of the purple city of Kyrrath. And for a big part, it's similar to other city's in many ways. But when you look to the expansion of Kyrrath, than there is a difference with other citys. Yes, there are some houses that are just build up from the ground, but since Kyrrath has declared loyalty to the spire, there has been a second way of expansion: In a lot of places there are citizens that would like to be loyal to the spire, but do live in areas where most of the population is helping the resistance out. But now there's something beautiful, something magical for these people... When they use purple amethystdust from Kyrrath, and paint their roofs purple, their houses will come to live, and move towards Kyrrath, to settle there and be able to support the spire, The true leader of Nocturnus! Oh, and when the houses come across pirateships, or other buildings loyal to the resistance, they don't doubt destroying them... Here are the photos: This build is also an entry for the finals of The Tourney, that is the reason why this ship design is based at the design of my enemy over there, W. Navarre. But it is a complete rebuild, using my own techniques and designchoises. Credits to him tho for the original design of the ship. And lastly a picture of the house itself, without a ship covering the whole front... I hope you enjoy my build, and if you also want to live in Kyrrath, don't wait any longer, buy some Kyrrath' amethyst dust and paint your roof purple.... C&C always welcome! Have a nice day, Jaap
  3. Hey all! For a while, I've want to build something for the frozen beyond, but I never made time for it. When I was building for a contest, with a mage-battle category, I decided it was time for a build for The Frozen Beyond. For those that are wondering, no it doesn't have purple roofs, so this isnt located in Kyrrath. This build is located somewhere in the land in south of Kyrrath. The reason I didn't go for purple roofs(wanted to do so, at first) is that I didnt want to use black in my build, and I don't have enough purple wedges for all the roofs. So in the end I went for the blue-orange colorscheme, to make an unrealistic color-combination, although I didn't want it to look 'weird'. In the end I'm quite pleased with the result, so now it's up to you to make your own opinion at my build :) I didn't really make a story, but my build shows that the algus is still slowly spreading over the guilds... It has even reached one of the 'hottest' places, far into the nocturnus' lands... But although they come close to these places, the algus isn't strong enough to capture the house of the fire-mage... This far from the north, the power of the Algus isn't that big anymore, and the icemage gets blown away by the firespells, used by the fire-mage... Here are the pictures: The build itself: The fire-mage: The Algus-mage gets a 'warm welcome'..... And here some other views at the house: And finally a shot from above, that shows the different angles in the build quite nicely.. I hope you like my build, And feel free to share your opinion :) Jaap
  4. Hey there! Finally there's a new GoH build from me! It's been about a year ago since my last one... :/ But I got some plans for new builds, when I'll be finished with The Tourney contest at mocpages... I didn't have a great idea for category A of the challenge for a while, but yesterday evening I found one(and also one for cat. B), and I couldn't resist building it as I think it's stupidly funny . Anyway, here it is: Messenger: "Hey, soldier! I got an important message for Lord Kiarr. Where can I find him? The message should not be lost!" Soldier: "Oh, hey! Welcome to Kyrrath! So you got a message? Interesting! hehe... Messenger: "Sure I got a message, and it's really important! Can you tell me please where Lord Kiarr is? Soldier: "Sure I can, but first I have some questions, as I can't send everybody to my Lord..." Messenger: "It's a message from the resistance, with some very important information! If it get lost, The spire will rule over whole Nocturnus!" Soldier: "So it's an important message against the spire?!?..." Messenger: "Yes, the leaders of the resistance send me to Kyrrath to deliver it to Lord Kyrrath, so Nocturnus will get rescued from the spire!" Soldier: "As you can see, we got a special mailbox for important messages about the war against the spire. Put it in there, and no one that may not read the message will be able to get it out of it, hehe" (He didn't even lie) Messenger: "Great, that looks very safe! I'll put the letter in the box!" "Thanks for the help, and have a nice day!" Soldier: "I wish you a 'safe' trip back! As 'safe' as your message is! hehe..." When the messenger has left: Soldier: "hehe, stupid boy. The leaders of the resistance make it easy for us, the spire, if they keep using these stupid, less intelligent messengers..." "This way, there's not even a single reason to kill the messengers, if they are so stupid! And I didn't even have to lie to him! hehe... " And here's the build: GoH - Challenge A - The Mailbox! And here's the way we stop messages from the resistance in Kyrrath: GoH - Challenge A: The mailbox! Kyrrath for purple, Kyrrath for the spire! Quite a rushed build, but I think you get the idea, and I decided it was funny enough to build and share with you! Hope you enjoy! Jaap
  5. Hey all! For round 3 of The Tourney, I had to redesign a castle set, and I went for set 6089. Here's my version: TT17 R3: Stone Tower Bridge TT17 R3: Stone Tower Bridge When I saw the categories of this round of the Tourney, I really liked it, but I totally didn't know what set to choose, as I don't really have a set I really liked from my childhood.(because I'm quite young, and haven't owned the classic castle sets...) So I took a look at the list of castle sets, and came along this set. And from the first look, I liked it. I really like the composition and the overall look of the set. But I think the top part of the tower and the part beneath the roof of the arch is a huge mess, and looks like some random bricks are put together... But hey, that makes for a perfect set to revamp! There are a lot of choices I made while redesigning the set, from wich I'll describe the most important ones below: The horsecart is a complete rebuild, but isn't that interesting for the revamp imho, but I wanted to add it, as I liked it in the original set. As for the arch, I really liked the roof or the arch, and wanted to keep the same design for it, but after all I changed it too, as I wanted to use the same roofstructure as on teh main tower. this way, it complements better together. The columns of the rch I totally changed, as I really hated it in the original set. I changed it to the red poles and beam, inspired by asian architecture, to give it a more 'ninja-style' look. I made the ramp longer, so it's less steep. The second reason for it is, that I now have 2 16x16's as a base, which I prefered over 2 different sizes. The bridge is, in looks, quite similar to the set, as the only 'big' change is the addition of the red poles in the border of the bridge. The biggest changes are in the main tower of the set, As the top is a complete change from the set. I sticked with the shape of the roofs, and the 'watchtower' in between, but used completely different techniques for it, what resutls in a, in my opinion, way better look. I decided to co for the red beams, where in the set, you can find black ones. The 4 pillars are also changes, but I sticked with the red parts at the top and at the bottom of the pillars, as that made it look like the walls in the set itself. The biggest change I made at the bottem of the tower, as I removed the huge rock, and changed it to the same angled wall, as beneath the arch. I think it capture the look of a 'fortress' way better than with the rocks. The second reason is that in the set, some lbg slopes are used to make it look like the angled wall is behind the rock. But it doen's look that great in my opinion, so I decided to do it this way. To keep the feeling that it's build on rocks, I changed the ugly green base for the dbg base, and added some small rocks beside the ramps. I think these are the biggest choices I made while building. If you have questions about another part, feel free to ask! While redesigning the set, I also looked to te functions and I think I got all of them! On the photo below you can see them: list of functions: 1. The cart can be opened, to hide some katana's 2. beneath the arch is a bar, to let the gray ninja hide from the samurai 3. If you take out a bar, in the top part of the tower, some dangerous flighing axes will come down. 4. If you take out a bar from the side of the bridge, a trap will open and you will fall down to whatever is beneath. 5. at the bottom of the tower is a secret storage place, where I put some silver... 6. The Tower, bridge and arch can be separated into 3 seperate parts! TT17 R3: Stone Tower Bridge Bonus shot of the roofs: TT17 R3: Stone Tower Bridge I hope you enjoy my revamp of this set! C&C always welcome! Have a nice day, Jaapxaap
  6. Hey there, Long time since I've post something over here... Had a busier time and just didnt complete my builds . But for the Legoworld Utrecht event, I've completed a few builds where this ninjago-style swamp city is one of them. As a castle builder, I wanted to build an asian/japanese build for a while now, to try to create another shape of roofs and style... You may decide if I succeeded Hope you enjoyed, and C&C is always welcome! Jaap
  7. Hey! I've just finished my latest moc, which I've built for the Brickstory 2016 contest, but I also want to share it with you guys! For my entry I've chosen for the theme: Ancient Civilisations, and I've built an interpretation by me for the famous Babylonian hanging gardens. It's something totally different from my 'normal' style of building but I'm quite happy with the result! I hope you enjoy it too! Here are the pics: C&C always welcome and I hope you enjoy my build! Have a nice day! jaapxaap

  10. Hey all! I just completed a new freebuild! (Or, actually i build this for the CCC, but it fits really well in Nocturnus... and I van post it here as well as use it as an entry) It's a haunted Inn, located somewhere in the dangerous deeplands of Nocty... and probably it isn't safe inside the Inn as well... I haven't made a story yet,so you guys will have to do it with the pics for now :) I also made a video about the playable function! Not that high quality, but it shows how well this function works out :) I hope you guys enjoyed my build! C&C welcome! Cheers, jaapxaap
  11. Hey all! Kyrrath is growing and growing, and there are some ideas to make a trading route from Skarenport to Kyrrath, so from here all goods can be send through the rest of Nocturnus. But to make this work, it has to be kinda safe(for Nocturnus standards... ^^). This isn't easy to get but one of the problems to make a safe route is solved: From now on, there's a new ceremony in Kyrrath: Each Monday someone will be chosen and be fed to Bigteeth. So Bigteeth will have enough food and won't eat much innocents anymore. Normally a Criminal will be chosen(like this week) but when there isn't, there will always be a Mitgardian in between the borders of Kyrrath.... Here are the pics of my build: Here some pics of the background and Bigteeth: I've this build also made for the CCC, category Bring out your Dead. I hope you enjoyed my build and I want to thank you for your attention :) C&C always welcome! Have a nice day! Jaap
  12. Hey all! Have you guys ever considered to live your life as a hermit? Probably not, but after reading(and watching) this thread you maybe want.. :) Cause my latest build i just finished is a hermit house, located in Nocturnus, somewhere in the mountains around Kyrrath... Well, Here are the pics: It was pretty fun and challenging to build, and sometimes kinda frustrating :c It actualy is sturdier than it looks it is.... I hope you enjoy this build, and if you have C&C, feel free to post! I really appreciate feedback! Have a nice day! Jaapxaap P.s. If you want to see it in real life, This and other builds will be shown at LegoWorld 2015, in the Netherlands! If you visit please have a talk with me :)
  13. Hey all! Here I have a new Kyrrath build ready to share with you! I've build the mill for the Husbandry minichallenge, but also for my Legoworld 2015 layout(Utrecht,Netherlands) so if you want to see it in real life, headover to the Netherlands :) About the backgroundstory for this build: While there isn't very much food in Nocturnus, Birro, the son of a poor farmer somewhere in the Rakath Mountains, Is traveling through Nocturnus to find a job to get money to buy food for him and his Parents. After visiting many places without succes, he arrives in Kyrrath. Here, he hears that the miller of Kyrrath needs a servant to help him with the heavy work. When he walks up the path to the mill, He sees why the miller needs a servant: The mill pond is silted and there is almost no wind to let the blades rotate. When he knocks at the door, the miller opens the door. When Birro asks if he can be the servant of the miller, the miller tells him he can directly start his new job and tells Birro that he'll send some food to his parents. from that day on, Kyrrath has a new, hardworking villager and a happy miller! Well, here are the pics: The moment of my build is when Birro walks up the path to the mill: Hope you enjoy my mill! I hope to meet some of you at Legoworld2015! And have a nice day, jaapxaap

  15. At the best-armed watchtower of the border between Mitgardia and Avalonia, drives Gwendar his horse cart to the port, where Lurolas, the watchman, asks him to stop. [Lurolas] You shall not pass! The border is closed for dwarves, we(the drow) don't want dwarves in our lands, because we are in war with you! [Gwendar] Nice to meet you! But do you see whats on my cart? [Lurolas] ehm... It looks like a chest... [Gwendar] You're right! It's a present for your leader, because we want to end the war... And I'm here to bring this to your leader, so if you want peace, you have to let me pass! [Lurolas] Of course I want peace... So I will let you pass, but first I want to see whats in the chest. [Gwendar] I understand your question, but I'm not allowed to open it before it's by your leader, because it's a diplomatic chest. [Lurolas] ehm.. yeah.. I'm not allowed to let any dwarf pass the border, but I want peace. so, go fast and don't tell anyone that i've opened the border for you! [Gwendar] Thank you! Have a nice day! And Gwendar passes the border, and when he has traveled some more miles, he stops and opens the chest to let the dwarf out... Then he went back with his empty cart to do this trick again when there are another watchman... The sneaky dwarves :p Here some other pictures of the moc: Thank you for reading and watching! C&C welcome and hope you enjoyed! jaapxaap
