  1. Inspired by the Speed Champions cars. Last year I built a car showroom to show them off. Al's Autos is built on 3 large baseplates. On the left baseplate the blue and white sign has doubled sided brick plate writing and rotates on a Technic turntable. The showroom has a roller door entry behind the office on the left. It is fully tiled inside and lit with PF LEDs. On the right baseplate the brown turntable also rotates on a Technic turntable. The footpath is designed to match up to the Modular footpaths. My own creation cars are a Pick Up truck with removable Camper. A Ford GT40 reverse engineered from a LEGO YouTube movie. The black Pontiac is a KITT replica and has a working red LED scanner in the front. Next was a service centre / workshop for the showroom. The back section is a parts department. On the right are two service bays. The front one has a working Technic pneumatic hoist. Also PF LED lighting. The shipping containers can fit a Speed Champions car or spare parts. To keep the cars clean I next built a car wash. This has a working Technic based linear actuator to move the brushes back and forward over the car. So after a long day. It's off to the Drive In movies. The diner has a projection room, kitchen, counter, seating and toilet. My own creation cars are two NYPD police cars with working light bars. A yellow NY taxi. The two Porsche 911's are modified with brick headlights and door handles. The ambulance has working LED light bars, headlights and taillights One day I will get around to doing close up and interior photos.

  4. Hello all, First post in this forum! I had 75887, but decided to widen it to 8 studs so more detail can be incorporated! Hope you like it! Comments and criticism are welcome!
  5. Dear Eurobricks fans, I wanted to share with you one of the favourite speed Champs MOC I've created: The mighty Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution 2 Rally car This little beast is regarded by many rally fans as the most successful racing car ever It dominated the WRC championship in the mighty (and rather scary) Group B, winning both pilot and constructor's titles in 1985 & 1986 I thought it was time to pay a Lego tribute to both this astonishing Peugeot racing car and the legendary Group B WRC era My Lego project features a very realistic and detailed racing car in full action in its natural rally 'habitat' The vehicle comes with a lot of interesting details: An accurate shape and proportions (not easy to at this scale) Multiple stickers reproducing faithfully the Peugeot Talbot Sport racing colours, main sponsors, headlights, rear lights and Tailgate... A polished and detailed interior including a beautiful reinforcement frame behind the driver’s seat I hope you will like it and don't hesitate to share your feedback here! Finally, this set is currently gathering support on the official Lego Ideas website. If you wish to, you can also vote for it on the following link: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/171007 Thanks! 8. Hello Speed Champions fans, Trabant 601 is a legendary car of Eastern and Central Europe. This is its studless model in Speed Champions scale. If you like it, please keep alive this project and support on Lego Ideas to become a real set (only 3 supporters are missing in the next hours to reach the first milestone): https://ideas.lego.com/projects/77b0428c-c46c-47b0-984c-1fd7c97a2948 I wanted to create a relatively accurate model, and some details were challenging in this small size. Firstly I needed smaller wheels than my other builds in this scale, the size of the actual ones are equal to the Mini Cooper (Lego 75894) ones. It was clear too that the City mudgards will not fit to this size, therefore I created a brickbuilt one. The connection of the wheels are tricky a bit which helps to keep the room between the wheels and the mudguard proportional. I wanted to create an accurate front, and I added simple white stickers to the direction indicator lamps to keep the orange parts visible on the front only. The most common colors of this car are the light blue and white (broken white). I decided to use white pieces as the roof element of Mini Cooper (part 6018101) is ideal as hood and roof, and I have this item only in this color. The rear of the car is a bit tricky too as I wanted tilted lights similarly to the real ones. The back lights could be red transparent elements, but I was not able to buy them in that color. I had to buy some elements of "brick, modified, 6191" to the sides too, and it was available only with "Nitro" stickers, but my son said that these stickers are cool, so I kept them. I wanted to use as less stickers as possible as I don't really like them, because they restrain the applicability the stickered elements in different builds. There is picture without the "Nitro" sticker and an other one without any stickers. The set includes a minifigure with a baseball hat and with an additinal red helmet. 10. The red double decker bus is one of the iconic London symbol. My model is base on Enviro 400 bus in a minifigure scale. It is 8 stud wide The top and the second level can be easily detached for more playability. The front, rear, and the engine compartment door can be opened. I also designed the London phone booth and the bus stop in this Lego set. This bus does not only fit in London, it can also fit in every kids' Lego city. 11. Here is my video review on 75895 1974 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0: THE GOOD: Looks great and captures the look of 911. Great minifigure torso with a nice print. I like how they designed the tail lights build. THE NOT SO GOOD: I think Lego needs to come up with a better way for the rear windows. The gap shown by stickers is really not that good. The spoiler is a bit too thick and flat in my opinion. Overall I think this is good addition to the speed champions line. It's one of the few sets that actually capture the look of the real car well. At this price and size, I have no complains and recommend to everyone. As a bonus, you also get a nice minifigure. I still think the F40 is the best so far.

    [MOC] 2020 Corvette C8

Since the first time I saw one, I've been in love with the third-generation Corvette and been fascinated by the man behind it, Zora Arkus-Duntov, a man who'd fled the Nazis, raced at Le Mans and become so enamored by the early Corvettes that he talked his way into a job at GM as an engineer. While the original Corvettes were soft luxury cars, designed to compete with the Ford Thunderbird, Arkus-Duntov saw the car's potential as a European-style, proper sports car, and with the C3 Stingray, that's what it became. But Arkus-Duntov had greater ambitions for the Corvette--as early as 1959, he toyed with the concept of putting the engine behind the driver, but while he continued to refine the idea over the next four decades, he could never quite get GM to green-light a production model of a mid-engined Corvette. Zora Arkus-Duntov died in 1996 having made the Corvette into America's sports car, but without ever succeeding in making it America's supercar. Last week, GM President Mark Reuss unveiled the newest generation of Corvette, the C8. It would feature aggressive jet fighter inspired styling, eschew the traditional leaf-spring suspension for proper coil-overs... and finally, finally, place its massive powerful 495 bhp 6.2L behind the driver. This is my Lego model of that car. It's obviously too early to know how the car performs and handles, but I have a feeling it will do Arkus-Duntov proud. I'm Here, Father by Antar Iliev, on Flickr The C3 MOC in the above and the following shots is by the amazing Jonathan Elliot. New Century, Same Vision by Antar Iliev, on Flickr Evolution and Revolution by Antar Iliev, on Flickr I've made available PDF instructions, digital files and parts lists for this moc all via Rebrickable.
  14. The Speed Champions line has been a breath of fresh air from Lego for me. Small, impeccably designed sets that were a joy to build and play with. But....But....I am a space head at heart. And I kept saying why doesn't Lego make space sets like these. And then I'd say something about how it is Lego and they don't need to do squat. I can do it. So, MOC 1 of the Space Champions line combines: https://brickset.com/sets/6872-1/Xenon-X-Craft with https://brickset.com/sets/75891-1/Chevrolet-Camaro-ZL1-Race-Car to get the Xenon X2-Craft. Look at how happy he looks with his Space Champion upgrade. Maybe by the time I get to MOC 2 of this theme I'll figure out a way to photograph it so it looks good. It is much better in person and very very swooshible. A few more pictures are there on Flickr. Anyway, I hope you like it. Comments, even negative ones, are always appreciated. -Tohst

  16. Recently got the chance to splurge on a few things I've been wanting, among them were the first two official LEGO sets I've bought in years. I look forward to fiddling with all the new pieces I've never held in my hands before. I'm a sucker for gray and orange, cool planes, sharp angles, things that go vroom; these features determine all my buying decisions. If a computer chair doesn't scream VROOM! in my head when I see it, I won't buy it. Send it back to the factory, it's faulty. Yeah, I also got a MegaConstrux fig because I remembered my Cortana minifig was lonely. It's like a blind-bagged blind date for her, maybe she dates an alien, maybe a strapping space marine, or maybe even a microscale battleship, how exciting! (By the way, I got a racecar, a jetplane, and a marine...so I covered land, air, and USM-C[sea], wahahaha) Switching gears back to LEGO, the boxes are still easy to open by sliding a ruler along the edge of the glued panel. You don't have to tear it open at the designated tab, to keep the box looking good. It's weird that the instruction booklet is folded because it fits just fine without needing to be. Maybe the extra thickness protects the stickers better? There's a scanable QR Code on the booklet and one of the bags that will take you to "extra content" associated with the set. To me that sounds like photocomics or something, made with the set, so I bit on that hook. The code takes you to a site to download the "LEGO Social Life App", so you can then download low-res digital instructions. So, you have to download the LEGO social media app, a QR scanner and a PDF reader just to read blurry instructions. I might be missing something here, but I'd rather avoid this hassle next time and just use the paper booklet. Whatever, lets get to building! (I might be channeling the times I've worked sorting parts for Bricklink stores haha) We start by building a...stargate? Oh, a giant fan. It's probably a windtunnel, I like the idea. I'm already working with bits I've never handled before, awesome. I wasn't sure why this section called for a "fancy" piece since it just gets covered up, but later on you see it's a bit exposed and adds a touch of gap detail. The reason I haven't bought a LEGO set in years is because they're hecka expensive and I'm not into most of the themes currently out there. I don't have kids that can learn critical thinking from building things, I don't have any interest in superheroes, etc. However, I figured it was time to invest in me, in my own building skills. With all these new pieces, I was bound to learn something new. I love me some me. I love me even more when I build stuff that doesn't fall apart! Soon the car starts taking shape. I get to learn new techniques and Cortana gets to practice her welding skills. When I design my 8-wide cars, the guts definitely don't look like this. I work digitally and tend to outline the model's shell first to get the proportions right, then fill it in as needed to make it structurally sound. I like simple guts that don't require exotic (expensive) parts. I like to keep my cars as hollow as possible to add an engine bay, trunk, etc. This build is the total opposite. We start with the core and the guts are wild, there are tiles and slopes and panels flying around already and we haven't even touched the outside yet. MADNESS! There are clever techniques used from nose to tail, it's inspiring. I hope the other Speed Champions series cars provide a similar experience. Well...that went downhill faster than I expected. This is one of the best LEGO sets of all time, no question, I wouldn't change a thing. (Well, I'm going to convert it to 8-wide before applying stickers, but let's stick with the spirit of the sentiment.) ---------- If you take nothing else away from this, realize that the smarter your AI assistant gets, the less it will want to do anything you tell it. (And she'll probably steal your racecar and zoom away with her crooked alien boyfriend.)

    [MOC] Hybrid Truck

Hello, It is my own Hybrid Truck creation, which is called hybrid because it combines standard LEGO elements with a DUPLO car base. It is built from my kids' sets, and I tried to combine these elements just for fun, but I was very satisfied with the result. It is a studless, conventional cab tractor with a car trailer for Speed Champions size cars, but other type of trailers could be used too. It can be combined with my other MOC "Hypercar concept 1". If you like this truck, please share and support the it on LEGO IDEAS: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/ae7ae4f3-18b3-48bc-a169-d3b3be8c6094 Many thanks! 20. Hi, This is my first (real) Speed Champions MOC : the 2016 Nissan GT-R Nismo. I've presented these for the first time at the 2018 Brick en Bulles Reims expo in France, last weekend. This is a car i am very fond of, and in my opinion has been missing from the Speed Champions lineup. I've used techniques to try and get the right shape and minimize "accidents". For instance, the two slopes on the back of the cockpit are offseted by half a plate to avoid the "staircase" effect. I'll probably make instructions. There aren't many rare parts. One last family picture, can you spot the intruders ? The full article on my blog: http://bj51creations.blogspot.fr/2018/03/moc-nissan-gt-r.html Thanks for reading!

Hello, feel the speed! It is my own hypercar concept inspired by real hyper and supercars. It is a 6 studs wide, studless model built from standard LEGO elements. The overall size is similar to the Speed Champions sets, but the wheels are from City sets as I wanted to keep the height to length ratio closer to the real sports cars. It can be combined with my other MOC Hybrid Truck which will be available on LEGO IDEAS soon too. Speed Champions Alternates

Speed Champions Alternates 2019: Speed Champions Alternates 2018: Speed Champions Alternates 2017: (Model by Kenny Burns) Speed Champions Alternates 2016: Speed Champions Alternates 2015: Hi all, I'll put all the SC stuff into this thread, otherwise things might get a bit confusing. As already said the Speed Champions are quite inspiring for City car builders - mainly because of the new parts coming with them. Here you can see a comparison between the already presented 7w+ Ferrari LeMans, the McLaren P1 from the set and a new MOC, a Ferrari 458 in 6w+, maybe more suitable for City builders having smaller vehicles in their layouts. More pics: Main point here was to keep the car as low as possible - it's much lower than the cars from the sets. The Ferrari fits one whole minifig driver with helmet but is considerably lower than a standing fig. Wheels are customized in order to use those nice new Speed Champions hubcaps (as already shown on the Ferrari 308 GTS): Of course there will be a racing version with Speed Champions stickers, too. Thanks for looking, more to come.
  25. I recently bought the Dodge 75893 set for the Charger R/T.I wanted to recreate the one Dom drove in the 4th (maybe 5th) film, which had a plainer front end and nice chrome spoked wheels.I raised up the back ,to give it meaner stance (although to me it looks a bit cartoony with wider truck tyres fitted).I spray painted the rims from the Demon and also the blower with silver paint. Speaking of the Demon, I re-purposed it as transport for the Punisher, matt black gives it a meaner look altogether. I am now hooked on speed champions..the Mustang Fast-back should on it`s way in the post to me as I type this!
