  1. Hey guys, I'm making a fantasy moc of an evil lords tower. I need help texturing the walls because I don't wanna repeat the same thing the whole way up the tower (it will be 68cm tall) and I don't wanna use techniques from the LOTR set "Orthanc" because I have that one and I'll be displaying them on the same shelf. I'm using black for pretty much the whole thing. Does anyone have any advice? Please?
  2. [MOC] Kingdom's First Gate

    This is my third MOC and the first i made with "new" pieces.... My collection is almost entirely from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's, so i used to have a lot of regular bricks in blue, yellow, white, black and red. Now i have adquire some new LEGO sets and the options are growing (i live in Argentina and the price of LEGO is ridiculous)... I build it last year but my camera was broken and today i got fixed it... About the MOC: This is the first line of defense in the kingdom... is a small structure with a small garrison... Time is peaceful so they can even go outside and cut the grass! As always, comments and criticism is most welcome!   3. Boy's Room

    This was built for the ABS Builder Challenge, Round 1.2 It was largely inspired by Cesbrick’s amazing Kid’s Room model. This was quite an enjoyable change from my typical minifigure scale Castle creations. Both the closet doors and main door do open and close. You can see more pictures on brickbuilt.   5. My phase 2 windmill, this is another build influenced by Skyrim, the windmill is based off of the typical windmills seen in game. I also tried to replicate the tundra look that is common in many regions of Skyrim. This was also my entry to the 2017 Brickstory contest, for the Early Middle Age category. The model features working windmill blades and grindstone, both simultaneously operated by a crank on the back of the windmill. Previous story installments: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Glorfindel and Dedan visit the windmill in Holt to speak with Jarl Arfast. "Welcome, Sir Glorfindel! I'm glad you were willing to meet me here, harvest time sees me at the windmill more often than my hall." "Greetings Jarl, it's nice to have a meeting outside for once. This is my friend, Dedan the hunter." "Good day, hunter Dedan," replied Arfast, "I imagine you two have come with warnings of the conflict in Nocturnus? I can assure you all our warriors have been keeping a watchful eye on our borders and will continue to do so. Though our numbers are limited after the Algus war," he continued sadly. "Yes, that conflict has weakened our forces considerably. I may have some encouraging news though, as I've recently returned from Valholl, and some of the centrally located towns and villages have agreed to send some of their own troops to help reinforce our borders. The troops will be allotted to various villages who are deemed to have special need. And the soldiers will be placed directly under the jarls and lords command." "That is good news! Particularly during this season when our men are so busy preparing for the coming winter months. Thank you Glorfindel." "You are most welcome, Mitgardia must stand together to survive.   6. My first model of 2017, I have had the idea for this build for sometime, and finally found time to do it. The building is modeled after Bits and Pieces, the general store in Solitude from the game Skyrim. I used the same stonework design as I did in my Nordheim Farmhouse creation, though this time in dark bley. A tutorial for that technique is available. The rather complex layout of the building offered some challenges to recreate in LEGO, but I’m quite pleased with the finished result. It lifts off the base and hinges open to reveal the full interior. Previous story installments: 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Sigurd’s General Goods is the largest general store in Daydelon. It not only provides supplies, but is also a common meeting place for the people of the city. Today Glorfindel is met there by a Mitgardian courier. It had been two months since Glorfindel's distasteful run in with Lord Tuinis, and in that time Glorfindel had made several other more successful trips to lords and jarls in the area. He also made the journey to Valholl for a council of Parliament, and now was checking in at Daydelon before heading back to the border. "Greetings Sir, I bring word of the council's decision..." I tried my hand at a few photo edits with this build as well: As usual, there are plenty more pictures on our website. Did not make my goal of completing Age of Mitgardia last year, but now I'm only 3 mill builds away, so the end is near C&C appreciated .
  7. Unwelcome Tidings

    My 10th and last entry to the Colossal Castle Contest (small miscellaneous category). This was mainly a small fun build to mess around with new designs. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out, and that I was able to get every element actually attached, except the 3 logs which rest securely in the firewood bin. First installment in the story. After his first successful meeting with the Jarl of Balkr, Glorfindel had high hopes that he would meet with similar success when visiting other jarls and lords on the Nocturnus border. Dedan had set off for another clansman village, while Glorfindel's next trip took him to the medium sized town of Firoir. A single guard stood watch at the gate, or rather sat watch, as he was resting on a stool. "What's your business here?" He questioned, not bothering to stand. "I need to speak with Lord Tuinis," Glorfindel replied, taking in the somewhat disheveled uniform of the soldier. "Just straight on down the main road to his manor then, can't miss it." "Thank you, and good day," said Glorfindel, to which the guard merely grunted. Continuing on his way, Glorfindel saw that the guard was right and that it would be almost impossible to miss the large ornate manor. After an equally brief conversation with the steward, Glorfindel found himself face-to-face with Lord Tuinis in a lavish wood paneled room. "And what brings the esteemed Sir Glorfindel to the humble town of Firoir?" Asked Tuinis with a sneer. "Urgent orders from Elon Chorian no doubt, more men and supplies needed to defend our beloved capitol city?" Somewhat taken aback by the lord's belittling manner, Glorfindel tried to be diplomatic in his response: "It's always an honor to be received into any town of Mitgardia, and while the capitol is secure, I do bring word from Chorian that the villages, towns, and cities along the Nocturnus border should be fortified against a possible attack from the darklands. Tuinis jeered, "Of course! It's easy enough for him to order new fortifications and more soldiers to be trained, but we lords always pay the price for his petty concerns. Not a year ago, I was ordered to send troops and reserves of goods to the North for defense against the Algus threat. Yet this supposed threat to our existence was never even sighted by my scouts!" "Surely you don't mean to question the validity of the Algus attack?" Glorfindel asked incredulously. "Northern Mitgardia paid a dear price to keep the Algus from advancing to your doorstep! And if your scouts really never picked up on that threat, that only betrays their incompetence!" "You dare insult a lord of Mitgardia to his face at his own hearth?" spat Tuinis, "I know your kind, merely a lackey of Valholl, constantly sticking your nose into your better's business, and getting rewarded for it!" For a moment, Glorfindel could only consider the satisfaction a swift blow to the insolent face before him would provide, then with a great effort he controlled himself and turned from the room. Tuinis aimed one final insult at the retreating figure "That's right, crawl back to your fancy city and learn not to meddle. You have no authority here, boy." Another view of the build.   8. Harburg Castle

    This is my 5th entry into the Colossal Castle Contest XIV, for the Ice Castle category. Burg Eltz castle in Germany is one of my favorite castles, and that castle was my main inspiration for this build. My model stands 84 studs tall, and features a full interior via 2 hinging walls sections. Harburg Castle is located in the mountain range near the Nocturnus border in Mitgardia. The lord of the castle, Karsten Storrar, receives an unexpected visit from his brother Sir Glorfindel. Inside the castle the cook prepares some fresh baked goods while a few guards take their mid-day meal. "Karsten! It is good to see you again!" "Likewise, but what brings my famous little brother and Dedan the hunter to Harburg?" Karsten asked jokingly, though his tone soon shifted as he posed another question, "New tidings of the Algus in the North?" "No, the Kylma Katsella and new fortifications seem to be holding back those foes. It's danger from the east that brings me, as we've heard many reports of the Black Spire's influence in Nocturnus growing stronger. Naturally, Harburg's location on the Nocturnus border makes it an important position to have well defended. We've come to warn you and other towns and villages that their defenses should be strengthened in the face of this possible threat," Glorfindel answered. "Yes, I've heard these rumors myself and tried to prepare accordingly. Unfortunately, many of the neighboring lords and jarls feel that these rumours are unfounded." "Which is why we've come to you first," Dedan interjected, "we hoped that your influence in this region of Mitgardia might help to convince the others." "Well I'm happy to do what I can, though of course you understand the difficulty of the situation. The recent Algus threat has already weakened most towns and villages, as they sent supplies and men to fortify the North. But enough of this gloomy talk, come! The twins will be thrilled to have a visit from their uncle, and I'm sure Karin will be pleased to see you as well." And with that, the group headed into the protection and welcoming warmth of the keep. On a white backdrop: There are plenty more pictures on brickbuilt.   9. Plentiful Harvest

    My 7th entry into the CCC XIV, for the Small Miscellaneous category. The colorscheme was inspired by Legopard and Brickvader’s Venice. I wanted to try something a little different from the typical vineyard, so I decided to do a wall and tower surrounding it. Harvest time brings plenty of activity to the vineyard as everyone works together to gather the ripe grapes. Contests to see who can harvest most are common, though some take a more relaxed approach.   10. [K-C09] - Defense wall happenings

    Location: C09 - Orinshi Tags: Building, Land vehicle Log #007 – 26 Novembrinali 3816 It was a very calm night. And when It's calm outside, I like to drive a few rounds around Orenshi's HQ defense walls with my High Speed Kart™. The guards are okay with this and the long stretched road, mostly used for transport by day light, is a very fine looking road. I wish I could say that as well to the walls themselves; looks like Kawashita is cutting down on gardeners around here. Not much later on, one of the guards signed me to stop. While I did that, he walked to me and informed me that we had an intruder. The intruder by now is dead and charcoaled when trying to hop over the wall. The poor soul had probably no idea that the empty space between the vertical generator and the beams, is twice as hot and causes instant death. We have no idea ATM who or to what this individual is affiliated with. But I suppose someone like Dr. Jakob could trace this person's DNA and suit origins in his lab.   11. Leanorll Manor

    This was a commissioned model based off of Leanan Manor. This version is a bit larger and features a full interior that can be reached via lift off floors or the hinging function. All the doors and window shutters actually open and close. It is also an entry into the small miscellaneous category of the Colossal Castle Contest. Leanorll Manor sits on a rock island in the middle of a placid lake. This morning, one of the servants brings in fresh water and kindling while the cook peels an apple. Lord Leanor makes his morning rounds and checks in with the roof top sentry. While the area has enjoyed a period of peace, terrible rumors from Nocturnus keep everyone on edge.   12. [ MOC ] Modern Fire Brigade

    Hi everyone! I got this interesting idea of a fire station some time ago, and built this in two weeks, the fastest building I have done so far. I have no intention to get the now-expensive 10197 Fire Brigade, which doesn't really appeal to me. However, I am thinking, if I am to build a fire station, what design should it be? All fire stations have the distinctive feature of the big gates for fire trucks and the walls that separate them, no matter what the buildings look like. I took that idea, and thought about extending these bays to the second storey. At the same time, what if the interior walls grow so big that they grow outside of the facade walls? And so I turned the sketches into real thing. I choose dark red as it is less prominent than bright red, giving a more sophisticated color scheme for the city. Inside, you have everything a normal fire station would have: parking bays and equipment racks on the ground floor: Captain talking to the staff... On the second floor, there are pantry, resting room and toilet on the top. There is even a ping-pong table for the firemen! "Hey why are you two playing table tennis on the street, huh?" One of the play features here is the light. I put the red light brick at the corner and so when there is alarm, you can light it up and the firemen will be ready to go! I hope you like this modern building design, thanks!
  13. Life in Nordheim

    The completed collab that John and I built for Brickfair VA 2016 where it won Best Castle/Knights. The base is 130×98 studs making it our largest build ever, and it weighs a whopping 87 pounds! Which is 56 pounds more than our next largest build, which was our big collab build last year, Katoren. Every building has a full interior and all the doors actually open. We tried to include tons of little details, and there are some interesting easter eggs to look for: sig figs, thieves, snowball fights, goats, dragons, fishermen, and custom weapons. You can see more pictures of the 7 individual modules on their own build pages: Nordheim Docks, Nordheim Paddock, Nordheim Harbormaster, Nordheim Farmhouse, Nordheim Armory, Nordheim Greathouse, and Nordheim Fjall. Nordheim is a bustling city in Mitgardia. Its harbor and Dwarven mine make it a center of commerce, while its strong walls offer protection from the Northern wilderness.   14. Leanan Manor

    This was built as part of the InnovaLUG collab, Ye Old Merry Battleground, for Brickfair Virginia.Check out the full collab here. Given the colorscheme and landscape, I thought this would fit well in Avalonia. I enjoyed getting to use some of our new sand green parts, and small castles/manors are always fun to build. There is no interior as when building this, Nordheim was still altogether and I was short on parts and time. Sir Ruari Leanin leads some of his soldiers out on a tax collecting tour.   15. Ellena's Bakery

    Another contribution to the Ye Old Merry Battleground display. I had a lot of fun with this build, using tan and dark bley together, along with the red and dark red as accents. It seemed to fit Kaliphlin well, so here it is. I'll be posting my other YOMB builds in the Historic Themes soon. Ellena’s bakery is well known for her delicious pies, breads, and other baked goods. "Well good evening Zia," Ellena said as she set aside her rolling pin. "It is a peaceful night, a nice change from the recent wars and uprisings in the land. But I didn't come here to discuss politics, I wanted to buy 2 loaves of bread and a tray of cookies." "Certainly!" Ellena replied, "I have some that still warm, here you are." "Thank you!   16. Here's my phase 3 storehouse for Age of Mitgardia. I used the vast majority of our dark brown collection in this build, and really like how it looks with the reddish brown walls. The storehouse features a full interior with plenty of supplies stored for the winter. And the doors work. Just outside one of Daydelon's large storehouses, Smolja the dwarven blacksmith is greeted by Flotnar. "Good day, Smolja! I hope your work hasn't been keeping you too busy of late," said the cheerful sailor. "Good day to you my friend, and while I never have lack of work, there hasn't been as many pressing tasks of late. Your dogs look to be in fine shape, how do they enjoy life aboard your ship?" queried Smolja. "They enjoy it well enough, though they're happy to gain a romp on land when possible. In fact, they're the reason I've been meaning to talk with you. You see, I'd like to have some light chain collars made, with the dogs names engraved on small placards. Rjoor and Rif are their names." Flotnar stated. "I can do that easily enough," replied Smolja, "bring them round to my smithy tomorrow, and I'll make sure the collars fit properly."   17. Nordheim Farmhouse

    The fourth module in my large collab with John. See the others, 1st, 2nd, 3rd. As you might guess, this module will connect with the Paddock module, and the previous gatehouse. All of the buildings have full interiors and working doors. The farmhouse itself was inspired by Derfel Cadarn. Nordheim farms often include a small stone cottage. And the main gatehouse sees plenty of traffic as people travel to and from the city, and merchants deliver their wares. See more pictures on brickbuilt. C&C welcome
  18. Hi. This is only the second time I've posted a MOC on Eurobricks, but I'd like to share a little scene I put together a few weeks back. "Investigate the old castle on your way back, there has been a report of smoke from it. It may be bandits..." An Unexpected Resident 1 by Magma Xenoliths, on Flickr An Unexpected Resident 2 by Magma Xenoliths, on Flickr I started putting together a dragon for our LUGs monthly build theme "mythical creatures", and having built the head realised I didn't have the time or pieces to finish it, so thought of a way to make the most of what I had built. I've wanted to try making a textured wall for awhile too. I have a lot of new-found respect for those builders who do it well, it was harder and more time (and piece) consuming than I thought it would be. Feedback welcome!
  19. Benoic Watchtower

    Thanks to de Gothia for letting me place this watchtower in Benoic. Having recently acquired quite a few dark green plates, I wanted to try a landscape in that color and chose to put a small tower/cottage combo on it. There is a full interior, though because of the small size the furnishings are fairly frugal. Both doors are functional as well. The corner stonework was inspired by Dwalin Forkbeard, the cottage was inspired by Legopard, the ‘gear’ mushrooms were borrowed from Captain Flint, and the tower windows were inspired by Gideon. Benoic has many stone watchtowers within its lands to provide warning in case of attack, and also as bastions of defense. This particular tower also has a small cottage to serve as living quarters for the soldiers stationed there. More pictures can be seen on brickbuilt.   20. Here is my Barracks Phase 3 build for Age of Mitgardia. It was actually made in 2015, but it took me forever to get around to making the other barracks phases. I used SNOT 1x2 tiles for the stone walls, and quite like the stone block texture it gives. Daydelon barracks is a prominent barracks in Mitgardia, and houses from all over the guild send their sons there to be trained as warriors. In fact, it's not overly unusual for citizens of another guild to train for a time in Daydelon. Thanks for looking, your comments are always welcome
  21. AoM: Wall phase 1

    So here is the first of some incoming builds. I wanted to create a wooden wall without pallisade bricks, I think I succeeded. (Quite partsconsuming though :) ) This was the first time I ever touched those 3-leave plants, I just ordered them and never had them before, so I had to try how to work with them. (apparently they are much more flexible than I imagined) The trumpet is gonna pop up a lot, I play it myself so I love that brick. It is also my first real shot on an irregular base, I think it turned out fine, but it could have been much smoother. I actually want to create my own settlement, im working on a story for it right now, this will be included too.   22. Summer Joust [MOC]

    Typo in the title, should be Summer, if a mod wants to fix it This was made to serve as the announcement poster for the Summer Joust contest. I took a lot of inspiration from Mark and Steven‘s Grand Joust of Giscellicburg. I tried to achieve a festive atmosphere with lots of bright colors, and large crowds of spectators which was quite a lot of fun. More pictures can be found on brickbuilt. C&C welcome
  23. Land of Rauor: City

    This is the second of 4 micros I built as prizes for the Guild Creation category of the Summer Joust. This particular model was focused on a city of Rauor. You can see the first build, here. Rauor is just a fictional land I made up, and tried to develop the culture and setting of with these 4 micro builds, the rest of which will be posted soon. Comments always appreciated

I used a similar ground texture to what I did in my previous build, “Start of a Journey,” and tried a different stone wall design for the gatehouse.
