  1. Location: F03 - Forring Tags: civil, vehicle, land vehicle, exploration --Weekly Explorer's Transmission-- --Log of Eagle-Eye Silver-- -- 06 Julali 3815-- I’ve been driving The Beast around Forring for a week now. It’s not actually called “The Beast”, but after rolling over countless small trees, shrubs, rocks, and a bunch of the tan grass on this planet, I’ve forgotten what the Octan Corp. engineers actually call it in the fleet inventory. The Beast doesn’t turn very well, but the power put through the axles is impressive! I’ll bet this truck could pull down a large building if I needed it too. Anyway, Dr. Long has me placing these devices every few kilometers today. She didn’t tell me what they do, but I’m guessing they’re supposed to help locate awesomnium. --End-- More on Flickr, I'll add some standalone pics of The Beast to the album tomorrow.

    MOC: Midnight Riders Technical

I usually stay within the Town forum, however this truck that I am presenting to you today belongs in Sci-Fi. I used the Lego City 7213 Off-Road Firetruck and Fireboat as a base, and based it off of a Tatra T815 8x8 truck. 18 days after incident: Our gas was running low and we were nearly out of options. If we didn't find a new set of wheels or some fuel soon, we would never make it through the Sierra Nevadas safely. Chet suggested that we hit up a logging camp not to far away. The sun was just rising over the landscape when we arrived. In the far back of the camp, surrounded by looming cranes and harvesting equipment sat our salvation: a partially rusted 8x8 semi; it still had all of its wheels, and we were able to siphon enough diesel fuel from the nearby tractors to fill six jerrycans. Having reacquired transportation, we left our homes behind and headed towards the East Coast, or what was left of it. Finding the Technical by Ryn Labrie, on Flickr That was three months ago. So much has been going on that I haven't had time write up a proper report. Our small band of marauders has made good use of the truck we found in those mountains. We've armored it, weaponized it, and turned it in to a fighting vehicle that spits bullets like they're going out of style. Other survivors and bandits have smartly kept away from us as we roam about, looking for supplies and staying alive. Midnight Riders Technical Front Quarter by Ryn Labrie, on Flickr When we came across the smoking ruins of the largest survivor compound in the New Mexico Badlands, we gained the bulldozer blade from their barricade, and the stereo speaker. Johnny had the great idea of mounting the speaker to the roof, so we could "play some Wagner and freak the heck out of the locals." (a cookie to the person who names this reference) Midnight Riders Technical Front by Ryn Labrie, on Flickr The current armament of our ramshackle fighting truck consists of a pair of Browning M2A2 machine guns, a MK19 grenade launcher, an M1919 with Cobray 37mm flare launcher, a M60, a M134D minigun, a triple M16 turret, and last but not least, a Common Remotely Operated Weapons System (CROWS) fitted with another M2 machine gun. The .50 cals and the Mk19 came from a National Guard convoy, the minigun was found on a helicopter crash, and the other weapons were found on the road. Midnight Riders Technical Back Quarter by Ryn Labrie, on Flickr Also worth noting are the Hiab/Palfinger folding crane with manbasket and all of the spotlights that we've attached to our truck; we don't want any sneaky buggers tying to sabotage us at night. To keep the lights working, we have 10 car batteries mounted beneath the cargo area. Midnight Riders Technical Palfinger Crane by Ryn Labrie, on Flickr I am including a "family picture" with this message. From left to right: Frank, Jaeger, Pops, Johnny, Ross, Archer (me), and Chet. A pair of local yokels took it for us before we left the Idaho territory. I will send out another message when I have time. This is 1st Sargent Archer, signing off. Midnight Riders Family Photo by Ryn Labrie, on Flickr C&C Greatly appreciated and as always, thanks for viewing!
  3. Greetings, Here's a look at the rear suspension i'm using for a truck I've been working on for six months. I only have time for a couple of hours at weekends. Just wanted to share this with you. Could be a while before it's completed. H
  4. UPDATE: Rebrickable truck chassis Rebrickable dump bed attachment Truck chassis instructions Dump bed attachment instructions Hi! I want to present my latest MOC, a 6x6 Offroad type European style truck with PF. I have been working on this longer than any previous MOC, slowly improving and perfecting things here and there, and can finally say I am finished with the base model! Oh, and also, the instructions took quite a while to perfect! Firstly I want to say thank you to Alasdair Ryan, Efferman and Blakbird for reviewing my instructions and providing valuable feedback! Special thanks to Alasdair for helping me with some LPub issues I couldn't figure out on my own! So, a little introduction: The idea behind this MOC is to make a sturdy and powerful PF chassis with advanced drivetrain and suspension on all axles. Further I wanted it to be highly adaptable when it comes to equipment to be placed on the back of it, thereby providing people with a good chassis onto which they can mount their own MOCs, and allowing myself the time to develop and publish different implementations to the model in the future. The features of the model are: -6x6 drivetrain powered by two XL motors -Steering via a worm gear, powered by one M motor -Lockable central differential (manual) -Live axle suspension on all three axles -PF "Expansion Bay" to easily integrate up to two more remote controlled PF motors -Working V8 engine Non technical features: -Rack to mount a 9V/AAA/LiPo batterybox in the cabin (for lights, etc) -Openable doors -Lower steps for the crew pivot up if hitting an obstacle -Tiltable cabin -Semi-detailed interior (including gear stick, coffee cups and some instruments) -Manual winch in the front For a lot of WIP photos, renders and high res pictures of the finished model, please visit the appropriate BrickSafe folder Firstly I'll show you a couple of pictures of the internals: The final gear ration result in a fairly low speed, but tons of torque (maybe a little too much, as some U-joints have experienced). Due to the high torque, I saw myself forced to modify the central differential, as I wanted the truck to have some actual offroad capabilities. Let it be known though, that for driving on the floor (both wooden and carpet) this is not necessary at all. Then some more actual pictures of the physical model In the above picture you can see the small 9V batterybox I placed in the cabin to provide power for the blinking roof lights. Also some of the way too long wiring I had to use, as I don't have short ones. There are certain differences to my model compared to the one in the instructions, most notably the rear lights and the roof of the cabin. This is due to me lacking the proper pieces, so it looks a little bit off in the pictures. The obligatory underside shot. Here you can see most of the mechanical side of the drivetrain It's a bit difficult to get good pictures of the suspension working.. The PF Expansion Bay. As you can see the two channels are free, and there is room for a lot of wiring. You can also see the dual white clutch gears used for the steering. It makes it powerful and fast, while still preventing the M-motor from stalling. On the other side is the space taken by the lever to engage the diff lock. I originally had an RC function for this, but it turned out a little unreliable due to the M-motor driving itself back a little after stalling. Also, it took up unnecessary space. Shot of the driver's side interior of the cabin. The cabin tilts forward to allow access to the batterybox... Which can then easily be removed. Here you can also see the V8 and the "fake gearbox" with shift lever and cup holder A shot of the rear of the vehicle, meant to show the available space for additions. Okay, that about sums it up. A couple of notes: I initally wanted to have independent front suspension, but this, together with a lockable central diff took up way too much space. Designing the front axle was a real pain, as it had to be very low to not interfere with the engine. This meant the steering motor had to be placed on the chassis. I first tried to use the servo motor, but it took up too much room. The solution I ended up with is as good as it gets given the parameters I had to work with, although it does have a little slack But it works great! Like I said This is supposed to be a modular build, and I am in the process of developing said modules now. Firstly is a picture of three different LA systems that are all more or less "drop in" additions to the model (you need to remove some of the transverse 7L axles seen in the above picture). The one to the left is used for a side tipping bed, which you can see in the next picture. The other two are to be used with for example standard tipping beds or other modules This is a WIP side tipping bed, using the two small LA setup shown above. It is a bit short maybe, but that is to give room for a rear attachment, like a Palfinger style crane, or a material handler claw, like in the picture below: As you can probably see, this is just a modified version of the Unimog 8110 crane, but with a claw (a la 42006) and an extendable boom. It is manual. EDIT: Also; yay or nay regarding the stickers (from 42025) on the cabin in the above picture? I am also going to make a compressor unit that can fit underneath the bed at the cost of the tipping function. Lastly, here is a taste of the instructions, which you can download here It is currently pending approval at Rebrickable (posted last night, so should hopefully not be too long). In the mean time, here is the parts list And here is the LDD model for those interested (a couple of pieces couldn't be properly attached) So thanks for taking the time to read all this, I hope you like the model, and that some of you will be building it yourselves. If you do, please come back here and post your impressions, along with a picture or two of your build! As always, comments, criticism etc etc are very welcome EDIT 2: The truck is built in white in the instructions, so most white parts can be substituted for any other colour. Also, as I note in the introduction of the instructions, most LBG and DBG thin and normal liftarms are used in the chassis, and can be substituted for other colours. The colours are used to make the instructions as clear as possible
  5. Just wanted to share my failed MOC. It's a truck with trailer. The truck had rear wheel drive through 2 XL motors and was steered by an M motor with clutch. It also had front lights controlled by a switch in the rear. I never was really a fan of the truck's looks ,especially my makeshift wheel arches made from panels, and I lost interest in building it. On the other hand I was very satisfied with the trailer. It was finished unlike the truck and looked quite smooth to me and had pneumatic legs which worked well. It also had a pair of lights in the rear which connected to the truck's switch with a long extension wire. The back of the trailer didn't look too great either. It also had a bit of sag which can be expected from something this long Here's both of them together. It was quite long, the trailer alone was about the length of 42009 Thanks for reading and hopefully my next MOC will succeed and be far more interesting than this
  6. Yes, it´s yet another teaser. Yes, it´s yet another Unimog. I just have to finish up the rear end a little bit, otherwise it´s ready.
  7. This is a large short-course style stadium truck built with Lego Mindstorms Ev3. It features independent rear suspension and a front live axle with steering. One Medium Motor controls the steering, and one Large Motor drives the rear wheels. It also uses the InfraRed Sensor for Remote Control. The reasons I used only one motor in this model are: 1. I was attempting to reduce weight, 2. The chassis of the truck is even studs wide, not odd; not allowing a very easy placement of two motors, 3. This vehicle was built as a test vehicle for the new 4-stud wide differential I got a while back but never used until now. The drawbacks of this truck are: 1. One motor does not exert nearly enough power, 2. The old-type differential makes it impossible to not use more gears in order to transfer the power, 3. All the gears used decreases efficiency massively, 4. The rear independent suspension worsens performance, 5. A 3:5 gear ratio was used (a 1:3 would have been better), 6. The truck is very large, bulky, and heavier than most other robots that I have built. I extremely apologize for the audio/video sync issues, I have no idea why the video turned out that way. Music: http://www.bensound.com [] Extra pictures coming soon! []
  8. Hy i just builded this ( http://rebrickable.com/mocs/musenkevin/off-road-crawler ) off-road crawler now i am searching for a buddy for that one. it doesn't has to be fast. i just want one with a low part count.

MOC - Carripana - Old Truck

I've been wanting to do some builds different from my usual castle/fantasy tendency, so while I'm waiting a few days for some parts to arrive to do more builds to my LUGs Fantasy display, I decided to make this little truck. This is based on one of many trucks that I saw (and hitchhiked) on my home little town when I was a kid. Mr. Manel da Linda is very annoyed because that little bastard is taking toooo long to cross the road... :) This is my first thing with wheels :) so please bare with me. I must say I had lots of fun building this and definitely want to do MOCs of different themes from now on! Thanks for watching! PS: Carripana is portuguese for "old decaying ugly truck"! ;) Carripana Carripana Carripana

    [MOC/MOD/LDD] Bro Tractor!

I apologize this isn't in real bricks yet, but I promise it will happen as soon as I can do it. This is a mod of the truck from the just-released 60085. I've been wanting to do a bro-tractor style truck for quite a while and gathered up tons of references to do my own design, but I felt this platform was just right to mod from. Here it is: Features include massive investment in forward-facing light apparati, sweet paint job, chromed-out front clip (to be special-ordered for the Real Thing!), janky front lift... ...False stacks in the bed (and Real Exhaust under the chassis), multiple sets of lift blocks above the rear axle, aftermarket tail lights and tailgate illumination strip... ...Retained gooseneck hitch, plus plenty of room for, uh, energy drinks... ...and an epic drop hitch that I am very proud of (and some weird green berries). I was going to create the minifig piecemeal, but I may as well just put the standard-issue Rapper minus his mic in the cockpit. (though the windsurfing print does look more appropriate than the chain) Enjoy, and stay tuned for the Real Thing as soon as I can afford to build it.
  11. I always wanted to create something like this in LEGO. This is the ADU (Alien Defence Unit) Incident Response Truck. It carries a small robot and all the equiptment needed to investigate an UFO crash site. Here you can see it in action here: The truck is also part of my LEGO Ideas project "UFO Response Team" . I hope you like it. Best regards marv

    Altered Lego Cargo Truck

I removed one wheel set, added a trailer hitch and changed the truck to a flatbed. I removed the wheels actually due to needing them for another model and altered it to a flatbed to just give it a look of my own. The trailer hitch was added much later to give a way for the crew to take the forklift with them. https://docs.google.com/folderview?id=0B0LIffC6GUIYaHFETWktWnJTYmc&usp=docslist_api

    MOC: Nissan Xterra(s)

Hello! This is my first ever post here. I have recently started getting back into Lego - my childhood pile was donated a few years ago (but for a few vintage printed pieces and chewed-up 1x4 plates that I saved). This project mostly came about because I wanted to build a Lego version of my beloved truck, a 2010 Nissan Xterra, which I have heavily modified: I have done all of the modifications myself, including fabricating many of my own parts (I'm a welder). We'll come back to this in a moment :) For those of you not in the western hemisphere or a market where the Xterra is sold, the Nissan Xterra is a 4x4 SUV based on the Nissan Frontier/Navara platform, designed and primarily built in the US. My first attempt at a Lego Xterra was a modification of 4433 Dirt Bike Transporter; you can see the results of it on MOCPages here. I decided to make it a police truck, mostly because I wanted an excuse to buy some BrickArms weapons. The first major revision of this model saw bigger tires with working suspension, along with a lot of fine-tuning in the bodywork: See more here. I was pretty happy with this one, and then decided to order parts to build a model of the actual truck I own. This version features representations of the stock bumper and tires I had at the time, as well as the rear hatch ladder. Its latest revision has a better roof fairing, as well as the mud-terrain tires, custom-painted rims (and yes, I committed the cardinal sin of painting Lego to match), and tire carrier: See more here. I could help but build one more, this time inspired by the City Elite Police: See more here. And I pretty much left that there for most of the year. I bought a few sets in between to help flesh out my off-road vehicle collection, but I had an itch to do something unique. I thought about making a version of the Mercedes Ener-G-Force concept, then about a civilian SUV version of the SHIELD truck from 6867. I pursued the latter option and it evolved into a concept Xterra that I call the X3 "Super Xterra": See more here. This MOC has all the bells and whistles I could think to put on an off-road SUV - live axles front and rear with differential detail (both articulate as you can see), hidden winch inside the front bumper, which also has a prerunner stinger bar, built-in lighting all around, intake snorkel. Here it is compared to the previous version (latest revision): And that's a custom decal for my face. I'm sure I'll be pushing them as I discover better elements (or Lego comes up with better ones - I need a windscreen with much more rake!). I have a few other MOCs, of course, which will be showing up in due time, but I thought I'd kick off my membership with a doozy.
  14. Hi all, some of you may have seen this already, it had been added to the bottom of an old thread a few months ago. The truck is very close to being finished now and its huge! the plumbing has taken me an age to sort because its running with two compressors and six switches!! Couple of jobs left to do, need a good fifth wheel design and the rear hitch needs better hook up points for attachments - if anyone has any ideas it would be great if you could let me know. the trailer is a six wheeled monster as well which should be able to carry a load of around 7kg but its still along way off being completed at the moment.

  16. I am currently most of the way through my latest project to build a large Technic house moving truck and trailer. I had also been wanting to build a Scania T143m, I have never actually seen one in real life but their 'lack of curves' without better terms has always attracted me to them. I have currently got the truck built with the trailer a few hours' work away. The truck is RC with 3 functions; XL motor for drive, servo motor for steering and 2 L motors for a sliding turntable. There is also a flashing light mechanism that automatically turns on when the battery box is started. The XL motor is geared down to increase torque and decrease speed, so far the only main problem I have encountered is the drivetrains gearing is prone to slipping from the resistance put up when pulling the trailer. I have braced the gearing from the top, bottom and one side, so if anyone could give me help on how to stop that happening would be much appreciated. The truck is 50cm X 18.5cm, has 58 light pieces and weighs 2 kilograms. While I have been MOCing for many years now this is my first post on EB. I have put some photos up on Bricksafe: http://bricksafe.com/pages/Kiwi_Builder/Technic/house%20moving%20truck I will hopefully have a video up in the next few days. All feedback is appreciated, Adam (Kiwi_Builder).
  17. Another MOC, I think Sariel built one similar in different scale. It has leaf springs, 2 L motors, servo and I will try to put a functional invented V8 engine. I saw very helpful to use the sliding 8th gear in the front axle. It is very fast, I can still slow using 8th gears in the motors. I will try to do the one in the pic of course in technic style. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zaig2TfcWL4&feature=youtu.be '>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La-uusEo2yE&feature=youtu.be

    Light repair truck

Hi comrades! View I want to make maximum detail under Scale
  19. After a long time lurking, I finally found time and space to pick up building myself I picked up a 42009 and 42023 to supplement my brick-based Technic collection from the '80s and '90s with some modern studless. But considering my collection, my building style will be mostly "bricked". I was inspired by Grazi's tow truck and the trucks of 2LegoOrNot2Lego. Specifically, I wanted to built a realistic truck with suspension, drivetrain, etc. The skills of aforementioned gentlemen are out of reach for me, but nonetheless I'm quite proud of my creation: I went a bit overboard with the features: Suspension on all axles Driven rear live axles 4-speed manual gearbox (based on this one from Sariel) 6-cylinder inline engine (hood and bullbar can be titled for access) Front axle controlled with HOG wheel on cab Working steering wheel inside cab Motorized winch Motorized double compressor with two airtanks and automatic shut-off switch It's all a bit tight, but it all works well without illegal construction techniques. I'm not entirely happy with the linkage for the axle suspension: there is too much play around the vertical axis. Also, if you drive the truck backwards over a bump, you lose the front axle More photos on Brickshelf and Bricksafe.

Octan Audi R18 LMP (from 60025)

The new 60025 excited me at first, but when it was out, I was so disappointed about the design. The 6-stud to 8-stud transition was awkward. I would say this is more like a starter set. However, the color scheme was good. At the same time, I was watching the news on the recent Le Mans 24-hour racing, and I was so fascinated by the champion Audi R18 car. Hey, that's exactly what Lego should have done, perhaps! It took me nearly 1 week to research on that car, and 3 days to create this Lego version of the R18. Let's get into the racing tracks and have a look! Overview of the car: The hardest part is the tail. I did 4 versions in total, and I finally adopted this. I used the 1x2x1 piece sideways as the side exhaust, and integrated the brake light into the bottom bumper line. Looks ready to dash, right? The crew is doing a fine tuning... Reference image of Audi R18: (Google R18 for more images!) Okay, after a week I finally completed the modification on the truck as well. And here you go, the transporter! I have been struggling for the whole week figuring out whether I should use 8-stud or 9-stud or 10-stud container. 8 is not enough as the R18 is actually a little more than 8.5 stud. 10 is too big and it is so difficult to make it look good with the 6-stud wide truck head. Finally I used the uncommon 9 stud, which is not bad at all. The R18 fits perfectly inside while the trailer can "grow" smoothly from the head using some tilting pieces. The tail. Come on quick quick quick! Unload it! So that's basically what it is like after the huge surgery. It doesn't take too many extra bricks, which are mostly used on the base for the trailer, top of the trailer (it is 2 bricks taller) and the racing car. I used the same amount of wheels from 60025 too! Well, the trailer can be detached, as usual. You can see the barrels of Octan petrol stored at the front of the trailer too! Maybe I will make a Shell LMP later to compete with this R18. Let me know what you think! :D
  21. Just start this topic with a picture, it is full of hint about how I want To build my MOC (and I hope i success) What are them? :D
  22. Hi all! I am making this project for the contest, i did not finished it yet, but here the time is to share some details about it. Unfortunately i have little time to build(5-10 hours weekly), but i try to finish this vehicle until deadline. The project is a Mercedes Econic garbage truck. I tried to build the truck (mostly the cabin) the same as the real one, but the garbage treatment section is an own creation. I used these pictures for guide: More pics here and here! So let's see some details about the vehicle: dimensions: LxWxH: 80x21x23 stud (63x17x18 cm) pieces: 4100-4200 weight: about 4 kg fake engine: 4 pistons in a row 3 axles, 1. and 3. axles are steerable in different angle, also the steering wheel is turning in the cabin 6 motorized functions with 2 M and 2 L motors and 3 gearbox. Functions: 1 L motor: changing gears 1 L motor: driving / blade sweep 1 M motor: steering / tailgate raiser 1M motor: garbage ejector / slide packer Manual function: cabin tilting Little functions and details: tilt seats, dashboard, openable grille, openable doors on both sides, etc. The video: You can download the LXF file from HERE! (*.rar) Thanks!
  23. hi to all! this will be my entry for the TC6! I hope I success to build it as I want and I don't fail to build this MOC, it is a truck took from the videogame Motorstorm:pacific rift, I want to test my ability with my first scaled MOC and also, as I love to do, putting some strange and complex functions into a small creation :3 those are the four function that I've planned: -1 buggy motor for drive (4x4 with two differential) -1 M motor fot 2 speed gearbox -1 servo motor for fron wheel steering and.... -1 L/XL motor for boost function, with overcharge system (it is reallly difficult to build into that creation) the points where I'm focused are: -make a reliable chassis with 4 link suspension similar to the molotov baikal one (the "real" type of suspension is impossible to build due to the start from a videogame, it doesn't respect all the physics rules ahahah) - make a llimited-lifetime boost function (automatic slow recharge) like the game, with a brake function if it is overloaded (in motorstorm cars explode but I can't replicate that :'( ) -finish this moc D: i'm not an expert builder but I love if someone could restart this project after my try those are some pics of the molotov baikal, i have to built it in yellow and with gray wheels but i hope to make some stickers for the black and red painting photo took with the in-game photo mode this is my first try for the chassis, unfortunately I don't have 4 9m uniball link but it looks more similar to the molotov baikal system i've made some improvements and also tested the gearbox that works quite well, i'm only worried about the boost system and the truck cockpit suggestions, impressions and critics are welcome!
  24. Hello everybody! I making this topic to showcase my first ever real MOC. I have made things before, but never something exceeding 20cm in length before, or something complex. This MOC is inspired by those beautiful long-nose semi trucks I see on the road everyday here in Canada. I am also inspired by the works of 2LegoOrNot2Lego and Sariel, two people who I say make some of the best trucks out of Lego, visually and technically. For my MOC, I used LDD since I do not have many parts for a semi truck in general, and money wise, I can't afford much right now. This is also my first time using LDD. I have no clue how to use those more advanced programs like LDraw. I am rendering better photos (POV) for my MOC, and an in-depth description of my MOC will follow shortly, but here are some crude teasers :D I made 2 models. One black and one red. Visually, they look the same, except for the color, but internally, they are a bit different. Can you guys guess what features this truck will have? This is my first real MOC, so it is a bit simplistic, but you can still give it a shot! Don't be disappointed to find out it will probably not have most of the extravagant function you guys will hope for :P Aside from the teaser pictures, I didn't make this post for nothing :D I have a questions to ask. I used LDD to make these trucks, and it allows me to generate instructions. But how can I convert the animated instructions into some readable copy? Like a PDF or something, something I can print? I am never gonna sell anything, so I also want to have a PDF file for you guys!
  25. Concrete truck Mk II. After the first attempt where things were there were scaling issues I had another crack at it today. Ideas are to have 8 wheels so twin steer. Both drive axles and simple sturdy construction. The functions are: L motor for drive. Servo motor for steering. L motor for the mixing bowl. M motor for the chute. Manual functions will be opening doors, cab tilt and chute swing from side to side.
