    Epsilon Elnath (SHIPtember)

Here is the SHIP I built for the SHIPtember challenge on Flickr: It clocks in at 120 studs long, and 60 something studs wide. Many features include a large shuttle bay that can carry many different things. Comments and criticism are welcome. And I seem to be having troubles using the enter key here. Had to type this all elsewhere and copy it here.

    Knor I

This is for the SHIPtember contest on Flickr. The contest is to design and build a SHIP (Super Huge Investment in Parts, a spaceship that is over 100 studs long) in the month of September. The minifig scale freighter I built weighs near 11 pounds, is 110 studs long, and is surprisingly sturdy. Some notable features: working overhead cranes, opening doors, a full interior, two small transport vehicles, and working landing gear. The Knor I is a middle class freighter that carries a four man crew. It's two small transport vehicles are docked at the landing pad in front of the bridge. With dual overhead cranes and loading docks the Knor I can load or unload its cargo quickly and efficiently. Numerous solar panels provide power for the large engines. Lots more pics can be seen here: link All C&C appreciated

    MOC- LDD SHIP X

As I have said in my other posting I plan on doing a series of 3 ships in LDD and I plan on building one to display at next years Brickfair VA. Here is the start of my second ship. I haven't completely decided what her purpose in life is yet but she'll probably another military style ship. I wanted to post some WIP pics so that I can get feedback not only on the design but perhaps some ways of using different techniques to try out. So here she is......at present..... This is her bow. Like I said I don't have a plan on the forward mount just yet, but I'm working on it. This is her forward command area. I thought the lights are a pretty cool idea. This is half of the RIB Deployment and Recovery Area of the ship. The slopes on The sides of the ships are just an idea at the moment, they aren't 100% designed through yet. I plan on trying to mount something like an Aegis array on it. We'll see if I can come up with that. Anyway that is how I work through a ships design, start at the bow and work my way aft. I try to build in the ability to take the ship apart for transport that is why there are the technic pieces on the back of this section of the ship. As always tips, comments, and critiques are always welcome. For larger pictures please feel free to visit my flickr page. http://www.flickr.com/photos/63422706@N06/

    (MOC) LDD Patrol Craft

Here is my Lego Patrol Craft. I don't have any specific genre I'm putting this into. I based the model off of the US Coast Guard Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter. The model has three decks. The internal layouts still need to be finalized but I think I am about 98% done with the outside. I apologize for the ridiculous background but that is the stock background from LDD and I haven't found a way to create a better one yet. Any comments, critiques and questions are appreciated.

    We want more playsets!

What the heck, Lego? Give us less ships and vehicles in the Star Wars line! I understand it might be so they can sell better, because kids like to swoosh around spaceships. But think of us TFOLs and AFOLs! Besides, what kid wouldn't want to buy a (much much larger) remake of the Mos Eisley Cantina with Doctor Evazan, the Bith band players, and a new Greedo! Let's start a riot!! We want Kamino, we want Geonosis Arena, we want Droid Factory, we want a new Cloud City and Cantina, we want Jedi Council room, you name it! Now who's with me!

    [Micro MOC] The Yoshikuni

The Yoshikuni by skapunkplaything, on Flickr The Yoshikuni by skapunkplaything, on Flickr The Yoshikuni by skapunkplaything, on Flickr The Yoshikuni by skapunkplaything, on Flickr When Siro Hatzuki graduated from clandestine supplier of weapons to Outer RIm pirates to legitimate member of the Merchant's Guild, he was told that he no longer had to be the ostentatious figure he once was. Being rich enough to ignore pretty much all advice, he went on to construct his pride and joy, the Yoshikuni, ostensibly his 'yacht'. However, with a scale and defence suite rivalling most warships of similar size, it is far from a simple pleasure craft. Length: 225m Crew: 102 (50 passengers, to boot) Armament: 2 x STS Cannons (Wing-mounted). 2 x Single-mount Frag Cannons. 4 x Flak turrets. Computer: Hitachi XT-80a. [[Realistically, This has been built for a long, long time and I've been too lazy to photograph it. I need to take it all apart, for the sake of SHIPtember.]]

    WIP The Rowdy Gentleman

Hey everyone. I'm starting work on a pirate ship (Wow, I haven't built one in forever) and I'm getting back into the swing of things. I'm working in LDD right now to design it. I'm still deciding on the color scheme, earth blue or black and white, etc.? Should I tile the gundeck? I'm expecting The Rowdy Gentleman to hold 12 guns per side, not including chasers or swivels. I'm thinking she'll have a full gun deck, and then that "half" one (can't remember the correct term). Any suggestions?

    Pegasus UAV

Hi, Lately I haven't come around posting any of my MOCs, however I felt that this had to change. So, to start of with, here's my latest creation: the Pegasus UAV. It's an unmanned remotely operated helicopter featuring the latest within surveillance and weapons technology. It was developed to operate from the new corvette (HMS Svea) that I'm currently working on (there's a sneak preview on it on one of the pictures). More information, specifications and pictures can be found over at Mocpages (pictures can also be found at Brickshelf when it goes public). Thanks for viewing. Regards, Wombat

    [MOCpages Find] HMS Victory

[pid][/pid] 151B Nick Barret posted his modernized HMS Victory on MOCpages. "Stalwart of the British navy for 50 years, Admiral Nelson's flagship, now equipped for 21st century warfare..." More details and pics on his MOCpages: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/365933 [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  13. Here is my first-ever render! However, since it is sci-fi, I post it here, right? I looked around and that seems to be correct. If it isn't, I apologize admins! Behold, the Indomitable Rush! This ship blatantly steals ideas from both my Man-o-war airship and my Manticore mech. But the end result, I think, still looks original.
  14. Hi, Lately I've been working on a new ship (since I scrapped my old one, HMS Vasa). Although she is going to be smaller (just shy of one and a half meter) she will feature more details. Hopefully I will have some preview photos to show within a week or so (if you'd like, there is a somewhat blurry picture here with her in the background)... Anyway, without further ado, let me present three different types of weaponry built for her. First of, a 76mm cannon which is somewhat inspired by the Oto Melara 76mm Super-Rapido Gun: RAM Launcher (actually think I just might give custom stickers a chance to represent the 21 missiles): Phalanx CIWS (however, I'm now leaning towards not arming her with the Phalanx CIWS): More pictures can be found at MocPages and Brickshelf. Please do comment. Cheers, Wombat

    HMS Dark Tan Beauty

[pid][/pid] 150A HMS Dark Tan Beauty (For lack of a more original name.) Yep, this is what happens when you combine a recent viewing of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie with the "Sorting" of an old Indiana Jones set that just happened to have boat parts in it. Of course, I also had to find a way to integrate some dark tan parts. I'm quite proud of the overall smoothness and sleekness of this ship, so I hope you like it! It's my first true ship MOC, and Jack is thrown in rather randomly, but it's always fun to try something new. Hope you don't mind the sup-par picture quality. C&C welcome, and as always, more pics over on my photostream. SteampunkDoc

    RS Hudson and RS Unwin

Video Overview of the build: RS Industries deploys several scrap fleets to salvage derelict SHIPs in space. The RS HUDSON is a demolition class scrap vessel - when docked with floating wrecks, the RS HUDSON has a retractable arm which is capable cutting into hulls of SHIPs. Cubes are cut out and sent to waiting Dumpships which transport the raw cubes to the RS UNWIN which continues to process the cubes further. Refined materials are loaded into cargo containers ready for shipping. The UNWIN is the Scrap Fleet's mobile processing plant - taking raw materials from its sistership RS HUDSON, this ship sorts and refines the salvage material and placing them into cargo containers for off ship transport. The RS UNWIN is built by Ricecracker who came up this awesome layout idea. Ricey is typically a The Town MOD so I was thrilled to do a Sci-Fi build with him. The SHIP is about 180 studs long, and the wreck/rock is about 3x3x1 feet. The RS Hudson has a NXT (for the 'arm') and two powerfunctions (front conveyor belt and engine pulsing), the wreck/rock has one (for glow fluctuation)- which takes a combined 24 batteries to operate -- After it's untimely demise at Brickworld Chicago, the entire middle section was destroyed, and given the effort it takes to put up the Space Wreck (about a day) it would only be displayed once. As such RS Hudson was repuprosed into the RS Hudson Jr: After near destruction in the Chicago sector, the RS Hudson was repurposed from a SCRAP SHIP to one of RS Industry's Comet Catchers. The RS HUDSON Jr now captures comets in it's center hold, and proceeds to crush the comet, striping out frozen Water and other useful minerals. The RS HUDSON and Space wreck (aka Space rock, aka ice house) are the two largest LEGO structures I have ever built, it has been almost a year long journey with Ricecracker who conceived of the idea of SPACE wreaking SHIPs. Through many ramen meals the idea of a pair of SHIPs came together. Here are some WIP photos as I built up the SHIP and the Wreck: And finally like all good builds, it would have to be scrapped itself and eventually sorted:

The Flying Monkey (2nd post attempt)

[pid][/pid] 150C Hi guys, I'll try again to post some pics of the infamous "Flying Monkey" (1st attempt failed...): It took me a while to find out how to finalize the ship. Then the idea to apply some monkey-driven design struck me. And then it was easy ... and my children love it ... ... and I tried to invent some new cannons: Next time I can give some insights into other monkey-driven MOCs. Take care Captain Braunsfeld

  19. [pid][/pid] 150B Ahoy mates! I be Cap'n Redshanks, mighty pirate, and for many years now I've been a regular visitor of these fine forums - but nary a post have I made. My meager collection of pirate LEGO hasn't produced much worth sharing. Now that I be home for the summer, it's time to set sail in my first completed MOC: the "Sea Chantey", me flagship. Enjoy! Most of the techniques and parts I utilized came from TLG ships, like the POTC Black Pearl and 2009 Brickbeard's Bounty. The sails are made of cardstock paper, and the reef points are (very poorly) hand-drawn. Here are some more views: A view from the port quarter. From dead astern. Dead-ahead, bow-on. A closer view of the stern. Nothing fancy here; the gold cutlasses came from the Pirate Captain in TLG's Minifigs Collection. The main cabin. Apologies for the blurry picture. The doors are a wee bit close to the mainmast, but I couldn't move the mast forward too much or else it would ruin the proportions of the ship; it'll just be a tight squeeze for the captain A closeup of the quarterdeck. See how close those doors are? I will probably change that later... Closeup of the winch over the gun deck. It can rotate in any direction. The gun deck. She can mount three guns per side, unless you clear out the cabin and stick cannons out the windows...improvisation, after all, is the art of a true pirate! A very blurry shot of the figurehead, a parrot. It seemed to fit with the aesthetics of the ship... That's it! Please leave your comments, criticisms, insults, and angry exclamations below. Fair winds and following seas, me buckos! - Redshanks

    Redskull pirate cutter/sloop

[pid][/pid] 148C Hi I am a new guy in here and here's my first MOC: I came out of my dark ages not very long ago, exactly at the moment, when I gave my 5 YO son (he is 6 now) some shoeboxes filled with LEGO. Ofcourse it was pirates he liked the most. And I still feel the same way. After buying PotC's Black Pearl and QAR we had to go on. I started to build two gun-decked, four masted ship, which is a WIP and this little sloop was build in the meantime. And It was inspired by other little ships like Commander Red Hat's The Seagull or many works of Sebeus whom both I salute. She has machine sewn sails made of PVC (PCV) fabric, and yes, I've made those sails all by myself (including machine sewing). She is build pretty solid and easy to repair, because she's purposed to be a playable toy for my son and also she has to withstand the attacks of the Kraken monster (2 YO little sister). Redskull has a captain's cabin, but it's not very useful, since it's very small, but it's rather typical for all small-hull ships. The crew isn't very happy... ...because they have to run from R.S.* "Neptune" (soon to be seen here on EB) *R.S. = Redcoats' Ship So here's BS folder http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=527724 (when public). And sorry for my english, I don't know is it still acceptable, I hope it is. C&C welcomed

    MOC: Tramp Steamer

Built out of the wreckage of the Black Pearl (lost at sea under the helm of a neighbor's 4-year old), here is a model of a turn-of-the-(last)-century freighter. I had wanted to do a freighter in LEGO ever since seeing plans of a steam schooner in a magazine some time ago, but finally got around to it :) And besides, my daughter was running out of space inthe LEGO rowboats for all the gear to take along on an expedition, so this solved that problem, as well! It has operating hatches and a crane, for loading those really heavy items. And a detailed interior....
