The Brig "India" has set sails

167A Ahoy, I am happy to present a brigg [sorry: it seems to be "brig" in English] with custom sails - the India (because of the galion): I have tried custom sails before but without the custom rigging. This time I am quite happy about the result. Then I found that the pictures look much better with a decent blue background: The crew is famous, as usual I hope you enjoy this (small) brigg and I am looking forward to comments that tell me that the "rear sail" is incorret . So, we sail into the sunset: ... wishing everyone a nice weekend! (P.S.: Don't try to search for "Lego Brig". Some clever algorithm is sure that you meant "Lego brick". I hate programs that try to be intelligent...)

    Friends-ship: The Pink Pearl

Avast, everyone. Presenting my latest Friends build, the Pink Pearl. It's a galleon type sailing ship in the style of pirate theme ships. The Pink Pearl is friendly. If there are pirates around, she has 4 shooting cannons to defend herself. The Pink Pearl by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Captain Mia's cabin is cozy. She has a comfy bed, desk, treasure map, sword, pistol and a lip sticks rack. The Pink Pearl by dr_spock_888, on Flickr In preparation for their journey, our Friends-ship is docking at the Imperial Trading Post for supplies such as, meat. Hey, where's the beef going? 4. Just as the title says, would you like the vikings back? If yes, in what form? Like the last time with horned helmets and dragons and catapults? Or more realistic? I want them to be more realistic, with different helmets, different shield designs, of course the viking long ship, maybe a long house. And of course a lot of vikings, viking woman, kids, and more historical accurate stuff. I also don't mind the vikings comeback with the dragons and snakes and wolves, as long as they return! I love vikings! What is your opinion?

    [MOC] Frigate HMS Jupiter

166D Ahoy, time for a more serious attempt to build a ship: This is the HMS Jupiter (3rd generation). The model is loosely based on the HMS Diana (many non-lego models seem to be around - check out this e.g. http://www.modelship...Diana_I_eng.htm) So, we have the captain: ... and his crew (with many custom cannons)... There she is sailing away: Some different custom cannons on deck: ... not to forget Jupiter himself: .. and one of two custom carronades: The ship is built in a modular way: For some strange reason Emmet found his way onboard but he found himself equally terrified by a crew member and by the ship's goat. (Oh, no monkey on this one) This is a joint collaboration of me and my son and we are both happy and proud about the result. Please send your comments! (Actually, the HMS Jupiter does not look so yellow in reality. I still need to convince my photo editing program to produce something decent... )
  6. Some time ago i started toying around with the idea of building a LEGO sailboat. After watching a video of Sariel where he mentioned doing it with LEGO-sails, I really started thinking about the approach i'd take. Building a LEGO sailboat is not as easy as you might think because LEGO hulls leave a lot to be desired, weight is obviously a crucial factor and if you want to go for performance, then there are a lot of stresses the build needs to handle. Also, LEGO does not make sails that offer the performance i was looking for, so i had to make those myself. Purist may not like my MOC because of the amount of non-LEGO parts (rigging and sails), but I am mostly interested in performance. And perform it surely does, the MOC took its maiden voyage yesterday with a stiff breeze in open water and it performed beautifully, good speed, stability and sailing close hauled was no problem. Unfortunately I wasn't able to film it, as controlling the boat especially with the high wind took all my focus. And there was a huge problem, which i had feared before hand. The range of the PF remote outdoors was really poor, only 2-3 meter which was not near enough to properly control the boat. So i am desperately waiting for either the SBrick or somesuch to become available so i can make a proper video. The functions of the MOC are: two remote controlled rudders and a remote controlled sheet for the mainsail. The jib is self-tacking. There are still quite a lot of improvements i am planning to make, so far is was mostly a proof of concept. The link offers a small video of the main RC functions.

My modest entry to the SHIPtember 2014 challenge: the Common-class Modular Star Hauler Blackbee Length: 126 studs (101cm) Common-class Modular Star Hauler Blackbee by Veynom, on Flickr The Common-class Star Hauler vessels were designed as modular and easy to assemble ships able to transport a lot of different cargo across long distances. Their modular conception allowed for virtually unlimited capacity as modules can be added or removed upon needs. The Blackbee is a nice example carrying 3 container sections and two power rings. [MOC] HMS Royal Monkey

166C Ahoy, today it is my great pleasure to present to you something I find nice and funny: The HMS Royal Monkey. It looks like a normal vessel. but if you take a close look, you will find signs of monkey-driven-design And you will find a few guests that have joined Captain Braunsfeld on his journey. Kurigan, sorry, I don't have the exact torso... The key point, however, is the Royal Monkey himself: :pir_laugh2: (Those of you more interested in historical accurateness might want to look at the lanterns instead. And the rudder is actually working!!!) I had a lot of fun building this. I hope you will be able to enjoy it too! By the way, it takes an awful lot of bricks to build a lego-sky-background... :pir-grin: :pir-grin: I am looking forward to your feedback!

    West Stedor

West Stedor has been renovated. The wall, gate and towers may look the same as the previous ones, now they are stronger and have a better foundation. All the buildings in West Stedor have been replaced and put on a higher level. Now the ground level functions as stockage room. Avalonia, Mitgardia and Nocturnus have their individual stockageroom where their members can store goods. There are also 3 Kaliphlin stockagerooms. They can be recognised by the heralds of Eastgate (for West Kaliphlin), Petraea (Middle Kaliphlin) and Qarkyr (East Kaliplin). The buildings itself are different shops. The red building houses a bakery and a cartographer. The darkblue house has a butcher and cooper in it and under the arches people can buy fruit. The dark orange building is well know for their smiths, stonecutters and painters (most of them coming from Ruadh!). The green building is the very famous "Horses Head Inn". Under the Inn are stables. Not only the white striped buildings are a citymark of Stedor, also the mozaic roofs made of dried flowers are known in every corner of the world. As major Historican trading port, Mpya Stedor has cranes to lift heavy cargo. (note: it really works!) In the Market Area you can almost buy everything!! Some good wine? Check! Or a new fancy cape? Check! Or you need some barrels to store your food in? Check!! Let's see what the Market Area can offer you: - Ale seller from Mitgardia - Baker - Butcher - Cape maker (with spinningweel) - Cartographer - Cooper - Fish & Seafruits - Fruits & Vegetables - Inn - Painter - Stonecutter making statues - Weapons - Winery There is also a fortuneteller telling you everything you want to hear! After walking under the huge Main Gate of Stedor, you are welcomed by a very vibrating Main Square. People are meeting eachother here or saying goodbye, adventurers are dropping a tear before leaving the city, ... It all happens around the fountain under the Statue of Liberty. Another very popular attraction are the Warrior Games in front of the "Champions Guild". Many famous Historicans are watching now a game between a Mitgardian and a Jungle Of Gorr Warrior. Lord Damaximus is standing on the balcony of the "Champions Guild" (aka Alleenridders Palace), having a nice view over West Stedor. In front of him, workers are building a small temple. And if all the activity makes you thirsty? Well go get a beer in the Horses Head Inn!! Under the "Horses Head Inn" are the stables of West Stedor. Easily recognisable by the Camel wall painting next to it. In the lower right corner, you see a part of the construction site. As MAESTRO needed more space, they have converted the West Gate into their Headquarter. Here their traders and soldiers come and go with goods and gold. Different views of the city I had many positive comments at Brickmania Limburg about this part of my city. I hope you like it as well :) Thanks for watching! C&C is ofcourse welcome! Maxim I Note: I believe I am the first one using flowers as roofing technique. There are in Hungary and Poland buildings (mostly churches) with mozaic in their roofs, making it very colourfull and extrely beautifull. Note 2: For the University of Petraea I like to claim more than 3 credits because of the size of the MOC (it are smaller 3 48x48 baseplates + 1 32x80 + 4 32x32 MOCs): - Architecture: roofing (the flowers) - Architecture walls: SNOT tiled walls (the camel and doors) - Architecture roofrakes (the white roofrakes of the Horses Head Inn) - Architecture Advanced windows (the fences as windows, the double windows, ...) - General Building: Movement-enabled (the crane on the docks and the crane of the workshop) - Trade & Law: manufactering - Culture : Art Note 3: West and East Stedor will be showed together at Brickmania Antwerp 2014 (15 & 16 November) as part of a huge (8x8 meter) castle lay-out, so be sure to come to there and check this out! Note 4: the pictures were taking during Brickmania Limburg. That's why the lightening is not perfect. Anyway, thanks to Lt. Hornblower & Sebeus for holding the black sail behind the MOC!

MOC: HMS Poseidon 2.0 (probably a Galleon)

164A Ahoy, people have been asking my: Why do you post pirate houses, harbours and comics? Where are the ships? Well, here is one, it is an update: Captain Braunsfeld proudly presents: The HMS Poseidon (2.0.). And it is probably a galleon. Why am I saying this? Well, usually when I try to classify one of my ships in this forum, people go and say, well, Captain, it is all very nice but for a real paddle wheel steamer you need to be more accurate on the Mississippi underneath, etc. And then I get worried. Is my model really a ship of the line 3rd rate or rather a full rigged brig? Honestly, I don't know about this stuff very well. I build lego models to play with... The (currently small) crew consists of decent, trustworthy men: to handle the custom cannons/carronades. And the crew is, of course, fearlesss: And finally, the overall approach is modular. This is where the captain returns to his bottles of rum: err, I mean, where he heroically plans for the next battle. Some storage room is found practically everywhere: and the capstan is working!!!! More storage room: You can also remove the floor of the captain's cabin to store even more stuff: Ok, so here she goes - the HMS Poseidon (2.0) Enjoy the summer!

    Ship Cannons

Expensive and history and even more expensive in Lego, I am finding it very hard to find cheap cannons. I have scoured Bricklink and came up with nothing. Why are they so expensive? I got 3 mid-sections, 2 end-sections and a bow off bricklink for less than £4 so why are cannons like £2 each? I am building my first ever sailing ship and only a few (around 10) cannons would do and I am simply no willing to break the bank on them. Thanks, Spud.

    Through seas and oceans!

This ship floats on the waves, here is the video: There was a contest organized by Kris Kelvin on Zbudujmy.to and LUGPol to build realistic ship. I dont like building realistic things, so i didn't care much about it, but then i got this idea. Unfortunately it was late enough to miss the deadline. But i finished it and here it is. This was a hit at Pyrkon 2014 and you will ne able to see it on Lego Fan Weekend this year.

    [MOC] HMS Elisa

165C After discovering eurobricks and all the great lego ships that are here, I decided to build my own one. Indeed I 've keep my lego collection from my childhood, so I had a good basis to start. For that reason I wanted to use the classic lego hulls and masts. I wanted my ship to had several decks & masts, to be fully rigged, to have a interior and a few others features you will discover. After 1,5 years I have finish, and I proudly introduce you the HMS Elisa: Specification: Masts: 3 Decks: 2 Guns: 2x8 heavy guns and 4 Swivel guns Crew: 22 souls Figure head: 3 Dimension (without masts): 74 cm (Length) x 15 (height, main deck; 21 for the quarter deck) x 14 (width, main deck level; 18 at the broadest level) Dimension (with) mast: 96 cm (L) x 84 cm (h) Deck removable to access inside Functional capstan and wheel-rudder A lot of bricks but don't ask how many, I don't have any idea! I didn't have any specific real inspiration model, I got ideas from others ship on eurobricks, mocpages, etc and a few painting/pics on internet and in comic books. A consequence is that I do not really know what type or class of vessels she belongs to. Maybe you can help me with this? Enought talk, let see some others pictures: The captain's cabin (under the bridge): The galley (under the captain's cabin) and the aftermost part of the gun deck: The front part of the gun deck (under the deck with the capstan): Middle part of the hold: The ship with all removable parts gone: All the removable parts: I made two little mistakes in the arrangement: the third part of the middle line (the hole with the scale) should be the second of the right line (gun deck). And the actual second of the right line sould be between the big one and the one with a wall (that's the wall between the galley and the gun deck). Aniway,... Please see my mocpage for more photos and the video of the wheel-rudder! Now I really want your comments and critics. If you have any suggestion to improve her, don't hesitate! Thank you for your interest!

  17. Hello everyone, This topic will be about designing and hopefully the build of the Smit Zwarte Zee. The Zwarte Zee was launched in 1963 and was the most powerfull ocean tug from Smit internationale sleepdiensten for a short while. It was wrecked in 1984 after several attempts to sell it, (to be converted into a yacht) did not succeed. For a lot of Dutch people this is one of the most beautiful tugs ever build. As a 14 year old I had build the wooden model of Billing Boats and turned it into a RC version. It was far from perfect but I was very happy with. I don't know what happened with rhe ship but I don;t own it anymore. Somewhere in march 2012 I started with the wheelhouse. The reason for that is that I had not build a ship that was longer than 1 meter at that time. Besides that I did not had any idea how to build a smooth hull of 2 meters long and about 32 cm wide. In April 2012 I had this: Bridge of the Smit Zwarte Zee by Konajra, on Flickr A good start. At the end of april 2012 I had the wheelhouse finished. Zwarte Zee WIP (3) by Konajra, on Flickr But then I still had no idea how to start with the hull. Other projects came around and I put the Zwarte Zee at hold. But after building my larger ships, the Fairplay and the Grampian Don. I had discovered new techniques how build a smooth looking hull. But stil I wasn't looking forward to desinging the hull. So I started to build the wheelhouse in bricks after I had broken down the Calypso. That ship has been displayed across europe and it was time to take her apart. WIP Zwarte Zee by Konajra, on Flickr WIP Zwarte Zee by Konajra, on Flickr This is the situation at the moment. Some other things came by and I haven't come any further yet. Until the beginning of januari this year when I finally started with designing the hull in MLcad. First attempt failed badly zwarte zee by Konajra, on Flickr zwarte zee Ldraw WIP by Konajra, on Flickr Normal slopes and curved slopes did not work here as good as they did on my Fiona coaster. After four restarts I have yet a great looking hull: Zwarte Zee Ldraw Wip version 4.0 by Konajra, on Flickr zwarte zee WIP by Konajra, on Flickr

  19. Hi! It's my entry for the 200 contest! This is a ship with a yellow submarine. Hope you like it! Part count is exactly 200! The creation has four functions, two of them are controlled by hand, and two are controlled by the two black gears at the rear (but by hand ): - telescopic crane - posable robotic arms on the submarine - high or low position of the crane - control the reel inside the ship to put the submarine into the water Thanks for watching!

    MOC: Trade and Empire

Hi there I posted these photos to Flickr on Friday and meant to share them here too, but various things got in the way so now is my first chance to do so. Anyway, please let me introduce my version of a Roman trading ship of the sort common in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. This is my first attempt at a nautical MOC and so I've gone for a relatively clean design. There are a few things I would perhaps like to have done differently, but in the end I spent so much time fiddling with it that it was beginning to look like a never ending project and so I thought I'd just go ahead and post it. I would now like to try my hand at bigger and more complex ships, so your C&C would be most welcome. Thanks for viewing, MW

  25. Here's my entry for the Warship GNAR category, the Serpent's Pride! An ever-proud Mitgardian ship, equipped with crossbows and a crew of strong Mitgardias, including sir Infernum himself! The captain! Shields and crossbows. Front (prow?) view! Turn this turntable and... The anchors are lowered! Another full view. And finally a view of the water! Ifernum's Comments: Finally got this up! Almost forgot, good thing it was cloudy out today! I love how this turned out, especially the sails (the masts are movable), the deck, hull, and play-function anchors. This is the first MOC I decided to keep together, and it's been sitting on a shelf in my room for the last month. Sadly, it was dropped and smashed on the way back to the shelf after I took these pics. May it rest in pieces. Thanks for looking!
