  1. Last year I found pictures of a really cool Winter Village display that had a ski mountain. In a cut away of the mountain you could see inside and there was a cave with the Yeti mini-figure and the Ice Fisherman mini-figure. It was really cool, the cave had a small pond that the Fisherman was fishing in. Does anyone remember this display and have a link or pictures of it? Or has anyone else built a Yeti's cave they'd like to share?
  2. I have posted this in the Town Snow contest thread, but I feel like it deserves it's own thread as well. This is first of many wildlife sculptures I am working on, for an ultimate purpose, a coffee table book. I have also created a Flickr group named Bricks of Wildlife for curating Lego creations of wildlife from the Lego community. Feel free to join, browse and add your wildlife Lego creations. I hope for it to be a great resource and an inspiration. https://www.flickr.com/groups/bricksofwildlife/ Winter Fox Hunt by Miro Dudas, on Flickr Miro

MOC - Tree Lorry Danish Edition

Hey guys! Today I'm going to show you my latest LEGO(R) creation/MOC. It's a "pre-christmas". I'm prepairing my LEGO(R) city for the Christmas time and this is a good add to it I think. It is a version of the danish tree lorries that carry the trees to put in the familie's houses. I hope you like it!
  4. I have fond memories of listening to Harold Engel’s “A Child’s Christmas in Scarborough” on the CBC while travelling to relatives during the holiday season. His irreverent Canadian take on the Dylan Thomas classic poem made the long car rides almost enjoyable. I have tried to create a Lego MOC inspired by being a kid in Eastern Ontario over the holiday season. Some other inspirations are the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, the film “A Christmas Story” and of course the annual Doctor Who Christmas special (Fezzes are cool!). A Child's Christmas in Eastern Ontario by Karen Metz, on Flickr A Child's Christmas in Eastern Ontario by Karen Metz, on Flickr A Child's Christmas in Eastern Ontario by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr I have included a few features that have been inspired by and/or borrowed from fellow MOCers. These include: JKbrickworks’ miniature tractor, Miro Dudas’ birch tree, Michael Jasper’s rocking chair, Eero Okkonen’s lamp post from the Winter Village Brewery, Etzel use of the Duplo fur for a rug from the winter log cabin, Thorsten Bonsch‘s typewriter from the H.P Lovecraft’s Study and Vecchiasignora Ceppo’s knitter using bagpiper’s kilt from the Winter tailor shop. So many talented people. Gallagher House (1885) in Newboro, Ontario, which has an amazing slate roof. For modular purists there are no interior stairs, which would have taken up a lot of interior space and I wanted to fill with holdiay/family scenes instead, so teleportation it is (at least they could use the Tardis). The artwork in the artist studio is a copy of the Group of Seven artist Lawren Harris’ “Pine Tree and Red House, Winter City Painting II" (1924). The bridge is inspired by the stone bridge in Lyndhurst which is the oldest bridge in Ontario, built in 1856/1857, and is still in use today. Hope you enjoy and an early Happy Holidays! image by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr

    Walk in the Snow

Sir Glorfindel goes for a peaceful walk in the snow with his loyal husky. Snowy landscapes are one of my favorite things to build, and they are something you don’t see all that often in the LEGO community. I made this MOC to serve as a tutorial for snow-scapes. Hopefully it's helpful, and comments/suggestions for the build are welcome

    Winter Village Train Station

Winter Village Station_4 Introduction Lego have released two trains and a lot of nice buildings for the winter village, but it still misses a nice place to stop. This is a station with a nice clock tower with two bells so that the citizens can keep track on the time during the Christmas shopping. Inside the station building there is a waiting room, full ticket booth and a small workshop in the tower for maintaining the clock and the bells. On the right side of the station you have a nice fountain and the train schedule. As you can see in the pictures this would be a very nice supplement for the old holiday train (10173) and this years new winter village set (10254). Basic Info Approx Dimensions: Length 62 cm x Width 12.8 cm x Height 37,4 cm Number of pieces (with minifigs, without track): 1200 Clock print: 17038 Input and support will be appreciated. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/154973 Winter Village Station_with Train Winter Village Station_Detail
  8. I had fun experimenting with the cross bracing below the platform, and trying to simulate hay bales around the targets Even in the snow, Mitgardian archers continue their practice. There are a few more pictures on brickbuilt. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome, I should be posting the second phase fairly soon

    Svellbjorn Tower

I thought the polar bear Chima figs fit well in Mitgardia, particularly the Frozen Beyond, so I built a ice/snow fortress for them. "Svellbjorn" means ice-bear in Norse. The corner stone technique was borrowed from Andrew JN. The Svellbjorn are natives of the Frozen Beyond in Mitgardia, though their tendency to rarely venture outside their territory keeps their existence relatively unknown. Some hunters are bringing in a shark. And a fun shot, with a bit of glare off the 'ice': There are a few more pictures on brickbuilt. I may do more with the Svellbjorn in the future, I imagine them to be enemies of the Algus. C&C welcome

    Life in Nordheim

The completed collab that John and I built for Brickfair VA 2016 where it won Best Castle/Knights. The base is 130×98 studs making it our largest build ever, and it weighs a whopping 87 pounds! Which is 56 pounds more than our next largest build, which was our big collab build last year, Katoren. Every building has a full interior and all the doors actually open. We tried to include tons of little details, and there are some interesting easter eggs to look for: sig figs, thieves, snowball fights, goats, dragons, fishermen, and custom weapons. You can see more pictures of the 7 individual modules on their own build pages: Nordheim Docks, Nordheim Paddock, Nordheim Harbormaster, Nordheim Farmhouse, Nordheim Armory, Nordheim Greathouse, and Nordheim Fjall. Nordheim is a bustling city in Mitgardia. Its harbor and Dwarven mine make it a center of commerce, while its strong walls offer protection from the Northern wilderness. There are more pictures on brickbuilt. We hope you enjoy our latest and biggest collaboration
  13. After a long absence, that I am presenting today it is the single largest MOC and challenging I have ever done so far. This MOC represent a medieval winter district with 4 houses, a cemetery (on the back) and a rock mountain with a castle used today for tourism visits. Around the block it consists of 6 Baseplates 32x32 and will be part again of my famous Winter Village. This project took me nine months of work and the use of 16,000 pieces. All the houses and the whole castle (and the basement of the castle) are embellished with furnishings with many scenes and details. The entire moc consists of 45 Minifigs and there are various curiosities scattered to embellish the work. I put on Flickr over 100 photographs to observe every detail of this moc. You can ask me all the curiosity and I will try to fill all your questions. This MOC will be presented for the first time in Lecco (Italy) during the two days of the exhibition at the end of July 2016. Flickr Complete Gallery: Greetings to all! Brick Flick: LEGO True Christmas Elf

Anyone can become Santa's helper. Will Ricky become one?
  15. Here is my build for Barracks Phase 2. It's a bit of an unorthodox training ground, but I thought it would make sense for Mitgardian warriors to be well trained in how to survive Mitgardia's icy climate. Also, this is my unofficial entry to the Natural Beauty category of the Summer Joust. The smaller pine tree is based off of mrcp6d’s design. Part of any Mitgardian warrior’s training is to learn how to survive for days outside in the frigid cold with minimal supplies. Snow shelters offer relative warmth during the night if well constructed. More pictures: link Your comments and suggestions are always appreciated

    Mr. Freeze's Ice Crawler (Micro)

This is the latest addition to my arsenal of microscale Batman baddie vehicles. My friend, Omar Ovalle made a Mr. Freeze microfigure (he also edited the first photo). I thought he needed a vehicle and this was the result! For ideas, I looked to polar research vehicles, past and present. That's why the vehicle is big and has treads. It is also functional; The front end is meant to look like a snow plow at first. But they can turn into hands, capable of capturing Batman! The Ice Crawler's trailer carries an icy prison. This was also made as an update to our LEGO Ideas project, "Mini Battle for the Batcave," which you can see here: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/120166 Who should be next in line for a micro vehicle?

    Arangr Castle: Winter

The fourth and final phase of my project to show Arangr Castle through all 4 seasons. See spring, summer , and fall. What was your favorite season? Arangr castle is located near the Avalonian border, in Mitgardia. Winter brings snow and ice to the countryside, and an unusual quiet, as most animals are in hibernation of have migrated to warmer climates. Fortunately a good harvest has provided plenty of food for the castle’s residents. Inside a feast is begun, and the minstrels are just arriving. See a large res picture of all 4 seasons together, here. And see more pictures of 'winter' here: link Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed this series
  18. This was a really fun build, that let me try a few new things: mainly the curved roof design, and using the new lavendar leaves. The crane and doors actually work, and the posts of the dock go down into the ‘ice’. There’s a full interior as usual. You can see tutorials for both the lower roof, and curved roof. The city of Daydelon has many warehouses, most are equipped with a crane, and large doors on the second floor for easy unloading of cargo. In the summer, boats are harbored at the dock, but the winters of Mitgardia are so cold, that carts and wagons can be driven on top of the ice. See more pictures on my website, here. Feedback always appreciated
  19. Hullo, all! Welcome to my first post of 2016 (woot woot!) Here follows commentary. The funnest part of this was trying out a border with one stud's width on the sides. It's kinda hard to put in words. Thus, the entire bottom is SNOTed. There is nothing new with the tree, but I was able to use Ninjago/Chima (?) blades for icicles which convey a nice fantasy look. One of them is not really visible in the pic though. That's about the sum of it! Thanks for viewing :) The pooling of money had still not covered the cost of lodging, and thus, Knorle was sent forth to find food for the landlady. A particular delicacy for Knorle was mushrooms, and as everyone from rural areas know, they are best picked at midnight. That night, he found himself outside the city walls at ten-thirty. After half an hour’s hard searching, he found them, cradled beside a small rock face. They were huge, and Knorle could hardly contain his excitement. Setting down his two bags (one with a rabbit inside), he quickly knelt down, and with the utmost care, sliced their stems. As he trudged back to the relative safety of the walls, he hoped that this would be sufficient for a day or two.
  20. The stonework technique is made using half stud offsets, see a tutorial here. Check out more info on the Blitzard 2.0 The Elken tribe has been building strong stone watchtowers to fortify their lands against their polar bear neighbors: See more pictures here: link Thanks for looking

    MOC: Finnish hobbies

Sauna and an ice hole in the lake. Finnish people have some strange hobbies. One of these is swimming in the ice hole. After the short visit in freezing water it’s time to go to sauna, where usual temperature is about 70-100 degrees Celsius. We crazy Finns…
  22. Hello everyone! Here is my "last-minute" creation for the Expand the Winter Village VI contest. It's a 2 in 1 building. The main building is an antique store, but it's a little bit big if we compare it with other Winter Village LEGO sets, isn't it? That's why we can open it up and get two smaller, but more interesting buildings: an antique store and an old house. Hope you like my entry for the contest, please leave your opinion here, I can't wait to read it. Please fly to my Flickr album for more, detailed photos: Winter Village: Antique store and an old house Happy holidays, and happy new year for everyone!

    Winter Village: The Gift Ship

The Gift Ship Hello all, nice to meet you! Here is my entry for the Winter Village contest. The Gift Ship! Sometimes Santa and the elves like to get out of the shop and take boat ride around the Winter Village. They go sailing around fishing for gifts and sharing them with children around the coasts. The Gift Ship comes complete with wrapping stations with ribbon and tape, rolls of wrapping paper, AND, get this, GIFTS! I wanted to make something convertible since I feel like the past WV could give the option for closing up the backs without sacrificing a lot and increase play value and display options. I also felt that while always awesome the locomotives have been stealing the spotlight away from other perfectly good forms of transportation! I had much more planned but unfortunately I only had last night to work on this and things escalated pretty quickly in the building department. Hope you enjoy the photos and can find some techniques and brick combinations you like! Let's set sail! Thank you for looking and have a Happy New Year!!! More photos here: http://s916.photobuc...mpetition/story
  24. Snowy Castle dioramas have long been my favorite subject matter, so this was an extraordinarily fun build. This is my largest irregular base build to date, and features a full interior throughout the whole keep. The rockwork was made using my technic brick design, which you can see a tutorial on, here: Flickr It's my personal favorite of all my builds so far, so I hope you all like it The citizens of Nordheim are quite proud of their large keep, and can often be found feasting inside it's protective walls on cold wintry days. See all the details here: link
