Hi all! This is a small idea that I had quite recently as an item that could be found in a set that added playability to a Lego train set. It's less for show displays and more for a child's little Lego City oval of track in their room. There's no electricity, just a mechanism that'll hopefully make it feel like the operator is a signalman! It's not based on any particular signal box, but the signal is very clearly an old British design. The box is cut in half to reveal the interior of the box and to provide access to the lever of the mechanism: It's a very simple set-up, with the mechanism being the most complicated aspect to it. Here's a (VERY) quick diagram of the mechanism: I'd love to hear any comments or suggestions to improve this! I might put it forward to Lego Ideas in the near future, maybe with a little train to go with it! Many thanks, Isaac

Behold, my first large scale locomotive MOC, the EMD SD70ACe. The engine is 7 wide, and runs 48 studs in length from coupler magnet to coupler magnet. Everything is brick built, not a single sticker to be found on it. Motive power is provided from two PF Medium motors each driving an A1A wheel set. A PF receiver sits where the dynamic braking grid would be, and the battery box is accessed through the hole between the air horns. I know the locomotive number belongs to a GP-38, but it worked in the size. Given the motor locations, there wasn't any room to build the internals for the cab. And now, a shot of the internals. You can see the two PF Medium motors rather easily in here, along with the battery box and PF receiver. Given the generous length of the locomotive, I plan to upgrade it to two L motors next time I hit the LEGO store in Koln. It hauls a lot of wagons, but lacks speed. If the motor upgrade doesn't speed it up, at least I'll be able to haul a lot more. I'd like to thank everybody that's posted their MOCs up here. I've cribbed a few ideas from stuff to improve the looks.

Hello, I have discovered that it would be great if TLG had a 2L bar/hose. the 3L bar/wand is great and the 4L light-sword is also great but a 2L bar would be amazing! What are people currently doing when they find themselves in need of a 2L bar? I have seen some that look like a 3mm hose that is 2L used as a foot rung on rolling stock with 2 droid arms. Like on this beautiful boxcar built by Cale Leiphart. https://www.flickr.c...mpoweredbricks/ Are you guys (purists close your eyes) cutting a 3mm hose from TLG or do you get a cheaper one from a hardware store and cut that to size? Just curious to know what people are doing. Thanks!

Hello all fellow train folks, today I have another MOC but it isn't a train, it is a track piece that we haven't been able to get in 10 years. Here it is more info to follow. 1). It has to be the same size as previous tracks. 2). It would need to use minimal parts and be easy to construct. 3). It would need to be as quiet as possible or be as quiet as standard Lego tracks when the train rolls over it. 4). It would have to be stable and would not fall apart in use. Hi everyone! If you recall the memories about my older buildings (Snack Bar, Airport Control Tower, Floriculture), you may realise, that all of them had a very detailed interior, and it was more attractive, than the exterior. Now I tried to create a building with a highly detailed overall look. And it has no interior, because I had to use the space inside for building different things, which keep the door, the windows and the chimney. After some brainstorming I found out, that I make something in the style of the old Hungarian railway buildings. There are a lot of interesting challenges at this topic. Stations, sheds, water houses, warehouses, etc. Finally I decided to build the wathman's house, because it is the smallest, and this size is still okay for my budget :) The next picture shows the house with my Siemens Taurus. Not exactly the same era - totally different :D but I think they look cool together! The pictures below show a lot of interesting things around the house, after them you can see the building tricks I used in or on the house. I'm really proud of two things. The first is the white MÁV (hungarian railway company) fence. It is possible to find it almost everywhere (picture of the real one). My Lego version is not perfect, a little bit different from the real one, but I guess, I cant do it better with Lego bricks. The fence is modular, and only the gravity holds it. Basic rule of Lego is 2 studs = 5 plates. It is not true. Theoretically it is possible to make an endless fence, but the truth is that only these five moduls are enough to create an ugly difference between the basement and the fence The second is the two bushes. They are also held by the gravity. I used this and this elements to create them. Furthermore there is an outhouse and a garden shower in the courtyard. Another interesting thing is the roof. I always used platebuilt roofs with hinges, but it is possible to create only a few angles with them, whithout a gap at the top, between the two half. But now I found out this new technique with technic pieces. More pictures are on MOCpages! Thanks for visiting!

I've built this small engine for a harbor freight terminal layout that I've made. It is not a real locomotive replica. I admit that I am closer to the playability side and I prefer the works which keep more of a toy atmosphere :) This shunter was built on a 14 X 6 studs base and has enough space for the cables, I.R. receiver and the minifig. The access to the battery box is easy from the upper side and the communication between R.C. and I.R. receiver is perfect. The EMD F7 was a 1,500 horsepower (1,100 kW) Diesel-electric locomotive produced between February 1949 and December 1953 by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors (EMD) and General Motors Diesel (GMD). Although originally promoted by EMD as a freight-hauling unit, the F7 was also used in passenger service hauling such trains as the Santa Fe Railway's Super Chief and El Capitan. The F7's prime mover is a 16-cylinder 567B series Diesel engine developing 1,500 hp (1.1 MW) at 800 rpm. The 567B is a mechanically aspirated two-stroke design in a 45 degree Vee configuration, with 567 cu in (9.29 L) displacement per cylinder, for a total of 9,072 cu in (148.66 L).

Hi, Lego train lovers, this is, to the best of my knowledge, the first and only Ultra Agents (UA) Lego train, fully functional using Lego PF system. My grandchildren Laura & Filip and me adore UA sets (just discontinued this year, unfortunately) although they were not easily accessible in EU but somehow we found several sets. So we started playing from train cars and after three of them the engine to power the train was needed. The idea for perfect locomotive was found in the article on The Maglev Technological Revolution on the maglev.net web pages (http://www.maglev.ne...ical-revolution) where futuristic trains are illustrated by Ferdinand D. Ladera from DigitalHadz (second in the upper illustration on web page; I tried to contact Mr. Ladera by all possible e-addresses and networks but with no answer). Of course, our train model is not levitating as maglev one, it is using typical Lego train wheels. Second UA car is for prisoners (Toxikita, Invizable, Electrolyzer, and Antimatter) in chains and carefully observed by Mrs. Hydron and Max Burnes, (http://www.bricksafe...g/1920x1440.jpg) while Jack Fury is inside his shuttle (http://www.bricksafe...g/1920x1440.jpg). Hi All, I have building question which I am hoping that you great train builders can help me with. I have decided to make my 6 wide carriages into 7 wide This is great as I can now have two rows of seats in the carriages. BUT, I can seem to me the ends work. I need an end door that is 3 studs wide. I have tried some snot techniques including a 1x1 brick and 5 plates to make up the remaining 2 stud width and have dabbled with all vertical plates but have a 1/2 plate width left each side. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance Yogi

Hello guys I am starting to get into 9v now and I have 5 motors. They all run at different speeds and some are slower when they first start but get faster when they have been running for a minute or two. I am wondering if anyone has tips and tricks to fix/tune up or clean the motors so that they all run at the same speed. They all run fine it's just some run slower. Thanks -RailCo

After a few years off from MOC building I can finally present another creation. This is one complete set of the new 4000 class commuter trains used in Adelaide, South Australia. They are also the first electric trains on the network. Introduced in 2014, each one is comprised of three-car semi-permanently coupled sets. These locomotives are inspired by set 60052 (Cargo Train) in some respect or another. The F-10 passenger model takes cues from two sets, one being the classic 10200 (AT&SF Super Chief) with regards to the nose design, while 60052 (Cargo Train) takes over the design for the colors scheme. The freight locomotive is more a heavy duty 60052, with parts of set 10219 (Maersk Train) thrown in to make if beefier and more prototypical to the SD-40, which is a six axle version of the GP-40 it it was created to be. F-10 passenger locomotive This model takes cues from two sets, one being the classic 10200 (AT&SF Super Chief) with regards to the nose design, while 60052 (Cargo Train) takes over the design for the colors scheme. Since the last time I uploaded this model, I have redone the roof to make the engine the same height as my other diesels, and have redone the nose and cab windows. (again). The letters LCGR go on the bottom row of studs, while the numbers 3247 go on the top four. The rear of the engine units. Loco statistics: Engine Number: 3247 Engine Type: Diesel-electric Configuration: B-B Engine Class: F10-A (cab) F10-B (booster) Designer: Electro-Motive Division (EMD) Build Date: 1961 Builder: EMD Current Owner: Lodi Clearwater & Green River Rail-Road Top Speed: 70 MPH This is the cab unit, where the engineer sits to control the train. This model no longer has an interior. Fictional background: These locos are from a experimental locomotive series called the F-10, which was built in 1961-2 on an order of 20 locomotives in sets of two (3240 - 3260) for the relatively small Lodi Clearwater & Green River Rail-Road (also known as the LCGR) by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division. These consisted of 10 A (cab) units and 10 B (booster) units, and were originally painted blue with black bases / roof lines. The principal use of the locomotives was the commuter trains radiating out from the city of Green River, Louisiana. The highest honor for these locomotives (and their engineers), though, was taking the Midnight Special from Lodi, Mississippi to Houston, Texas. The locomotives remained in service while the railroad bled money and deferred maintenance due to financial missteps and bad management to the point where a small derailment and fire led to the subsequent burning of the entire Susie Q. Bayou bridge in 1987. After that, most of the battered and weary F-10's were sold to museums or scrap, although five of the best preserved ones were upgraded mechanically and electrically in 1997. These final five serve the financially stabilized and better maintained LCGR to this day. This is the booster unit, which provides extra pulling power to the train. It does not have a cab as it receives orders from the cab engine via multiple unit control cables hooked between the two locomotives. SD-40 freight locomotive Inspired by and mostly taken from instructions by Zephyr1934 for converting the 2014 set 60052 into a model like set 10219 (Maersk Train). The wheels, however, are modified from Anthony Sava's Alco MRS-1 diesel loco, turning this GP-40 styled loco into a simplified version of the Electro Motive Division type SD-40 diesel electric locomotive. The rear of the loco features twin marker lights. As on the passenger loco, their is space for four numbers of the loco and four letters (yes, I need to update the pictures!) for the railroad near the nose of the engine. Fictional background: In August 1966, Electro Motive Division (also called EMD ) delivered a group of thirty SD-40 locomotives to the Lodi Clearwater & Green River Rail-Road. (otherwise known as the LCGR) These locomotives numbered 3260 to 3290 were immediately put to use in the Railroad's workshops, and moving cargo from any of number of smaller on-line businesses and facilities such as the relatively large Cosmo's Bicycle Factory near Green River, Louisiana. The SD-40's were seldom repainted in cash-strapped LCGR service, and quickly earned the name "Bruisers" for their battered appearance and worn black-and-blue color scheme, although the engines were repainted and upgraded in 2002. (though the name “Bruisers” seems to have stuck!) I made this logo by using the Rock Island logo and the font "Union Gray" to make the words. The name of the railroad is a salute to the band Creedence Clearwater Revival. The name of one of this band's songs is "Lodi" while another is "Green River". (as seen my the logo) I also used bits from some of their other songs in the history of the railroad and it's trains, such as the "Midnight Special" passenger train and the "Susie Q." Bayou bridge. I've yet to write the whole history of the road, but that shouldn't be too hard to do. This is all I've worked out so far, and Comments, Questions, and Complaints are always welcome.

Hi guys, This year I made a Holiday Express train under the Christmas tree. I think it would be nice if Lego made a new Holiday train set (like the 10173-1) to go with the winter buildings and bring back 9 volt for that matter.
