[MOC] Clone Wars Vintage Z-95 Headhunter

Made this for a freebuild for SoNE. The build won't be ready for about a week since I need some parts from Bricklink in order to finish this Headhunter as well as another (the other one will be smaller, have four engines, and be gray; in other words, a more "Rebel-like'" version), and improve my currently horrendously ugly Tie Fighter. The cockpit and the unnervingly cheerful pilot. A sight my TIE pilot will never get to see. The cones on the engines aren't canon, but I think it gives it a more clone-wars feel. The engines. When the BL order comes in, it'll have authentic pink exhaust. Until then, my camera is rebelling by taking blurry pictures of them. The wing-tip blaster. My second-most favorite part. Has anyone else wondered where the proton torpedo launchers were? I mean, Episode IV didn't show the X-Wing when the torpedoes were being launched, and there aren't any visible exit ports on the fighter to my knowledge. And here's my most favorite part: the back panel flips down to reveal the engine... ...which comes out for maintenance. Or, you know, if you need to jettison the engine so you can have less weight mid-flight That's it. Overall, I'm really pleased with how this turned out

    [MOC] TIE Defender D

I've always loved the TIE Defender. Since I didn't have any TIE cockpit pieces at the time of this build, I just made a drone. The engines. I imagine it must be very fast.

    [MOC] Steampunk Star Wars

My first entry for the FBTB contest. I left the title ambiguous because I've already built my Round 2 entry (wishful thinking + no time this week to build) and I will add it here once it's ready to shoot. If anybody else wants to add their Steam builds to this topic, feel free to reply with your pics. Please leave C&C below and go vote for my build if you have an account. Enjoy.

    [MOC] Circuit Breaker

It's been a while since I've posted MOCs here, but I thought I should get into the habit of doing it again. Here's my most recent MOC, a starfighter built for round 5 of the Starfighter Telephone Game on Flickr. After receiving a starfighter from another builder, the aim of the game is to interpret/evolve it into your own design, which you then pass onto the next builder in the team. (Click for a hi-res version) Circuit Breaker is an evolution of Ryan H's Phasor (pictured on the left). Advanced alien technology puts delicate mechanics on the outside. While this provides acute sub-wave sensitivity, Circuit Breaker scout ships must rely on their quick maneuverability provided by retractable retro-thrusters, in order to survive forays in hostile space. Circuit Breaker ships are equipped laser saw fangs instead of any ranged weapons or countermeasures. Also wing functions!
  5. Apologies to Nuukeer whose artwork I have mutilated for the background. Thirteen years ago, The LEGO Group amazed everyone by releasing a Star Wars set that was clearly aimed solely at adults. 7191 X-Wing Fighter was a large-scale, accurate representation of the iconic X-Wing, and introduced to the unsuspecting world the concept of Ultimate Collector Series models - large, complicated builds, with interesting techniques and (often) parts, all with oodles of AFOL appeal. The original 7191 - with its sister 7181 Tie Interceptor - might have been seen as an experiment; years have passed, and the UCS title has (officially) disappeared, but it appears the experiment was a success and the concept lives on. Since then, we've seen most of the more famous SW vehicles released in UCS format, but it has been a long time since an X-Wing has been available at this scale without resorting to extortionate aftermarket prices. If you missed the first one, you need fret no longer: there's a new, updated version. I'm therefore proud to present a Eurobricks early review of 10240 Red Five X-Wing Starfighter. Obviously we are keen to see how the new set shapes up, but I'll also concentrate on how she compares to her thirteen-year-old ancestor: to see if owners of the original 7191 might be tempted to shell out for the new version. In honour of this occasion, I've made a new, detailed review of the older one: read 7191 UCS X-Wing Fighter here. 7191 was a great set, but it had a few flaws. The principal ones are these: the wing attachments were weak, and there were a large numbers of STickers Across Multiple Pieces (STAMPs). Let's see how the new one deal with these issues, and also if newly-available parts have improved the overall shape. A huge thank you once again to The LEGO Group for providing this set for early review! LEGO Press Release ... Shop@Home ... Brickset ... Bricklink ... Peeron The Box Click the picture for a larger full-frontal image The 2013 Star Wars box art has a smart, attractive green tinge to the banner, matching action-Yoda's lightsaber. Recent years have seen a uniform banner for all Star WarsTM merchandise - LEGO or otherwise; it doesn't necessarily match the model in question. Action-Yoda appears only in the prequel episodes II and III; the X-Wing is very much an Original Trilogy set. Moreover, Luke's Red Five X-Wing doesn't go anywhere near the Death Star II pictured in the background; as I recall, we don't see her after Bespin in The Empire Strikes back. Questionable canon aside, I like the picture: the ship stands out nicely against the dramatic backdrop. The size of the banner (or perhaps of the box) has, however, necessitated the loss of the lower starboard laser to box oblivion. A small inset - also picked out tastefully in green - gives us an idea of the final size of the model. Around the back, we are treated to the X-Wing in display mode, replete with stand and diminutinve R2-D2, on what might possibly be a Bespin landing platform. Click the picture for a larger image Insets show the ship in her most famous role - dodging laser fire in the Death Star trench - and remind us how Luke's Red Five was responsible for the DS's destruction via physics-defying torpedoes. Further insets demonstrate the opening cockpit and wings, and small images show the ship in 'flight mode', with wings closed. The overall effect is neat but a little fussy: I'm not keen on the step between the main image border and the 'torpedo' inset, which exists only to accommodate the set number. Both sides are identical, with the exception of the 'LEGO Club' logo on the right-hand side; I wonder how necessary this is on an adult-orientated set, but I guess AFOLs have a reasonable chance of having KFOL kids! You may be pleased to see that the box opens via flaps, with no box-destruction required, and allowing easy storage for a highly collectable set. Scale is provided on the box top by the image of '1:1' R2-D2, but as he is rather lost in the model itself, the X-Wing's size information is repeated here: The bottom teaches us to say 'Small Parts' in innumerable languages, which I suppose might be useful. I was a little surprised by how big the box isn't: Measuring W 578 mm x H 371 mm x D 82 mm, it's roughly the same width as 7191, but some six centimetres shorter and only a centimetre deeper; she feels much smaller, if that makes any sense. The weight is similar: 2255 grammes compared to 7191's 2204, and there are 250 more pieces. Presumably this represents TLG's move to more environmentally-friendly packaging; we'll have to see if the larger part count translates to an 'improved' model. The Instructions You'll be pleased to see that the instructions and stickers are wrapped separately, and cardboard-backed. Three booklets are contained therein: All have the same cover image; book 3's cover is noticeably lower quality. Advertisements for the LEGO Club and the LEGO Star Wars site adorn the rear of two of them; I'll give you one guess what's on the back of the third. The dimensions of the booklet allow for a slightly larger picture of the X-Wing than the box front affords: We therefore haven't lost quite so much of the lower starboard laser. Inside, we are treated to a whole two pages showing the modular construction; the first is shown here: Here we get a little sneak preview of how the wing-opening mechanism will be achieved. I was surprised to see that the stand is built in module 6, rather than at the end as in most UCS sets. The rather bland grey-brown background persists throughout all the instruction steps: Part call-outs and sub-builds are demonstrated clearly; a quick glance suggest there won't be any issues with colour-differentiation; but when I came to build, I did encouter a little difficulty distinguishing between dark tan and light bluish-grey in artificial light. I quickly spotted the error. Insets depicting the set's principal features are repeated from the box back at the end of manual three: Click the picture for a larger image Owners of 7191 will recognise the design of the rear-end knob which opens the wings. Immediately before this is found the set's inventory, spread over three pages; see them here: Page 1, Page 2, and Page 3. The inside rear cover of manual one advertises the extensive Summer 2013 Star Wars range: I was a little disappointed to find out that we've seen all these already. I'm no Clone Wars fan, but I love that Mando Speeder. DSS There are two separate sticker sheets; the smaller sports the complex decals for the cockpit: I was fortunate to receive two of these, so I have a backup for when I screw it up. On the larger sheet are found the display plaque decal, and some detail for the wings, complete with 'battle scars', in addition to a few smaller features. Click the picture for a larger image with correct orientation It is far less complicated than the rather daunting sheet from 7191, though I'm a little disappointed to see that - it seems - the control panel and targeting computer will be stickered. 6. The Oordelay, a race in favor of Imperial rule, has had Aethersprite light fighters in service since the dawn of the Empire. Their use has dwindled, and as of the destruction of the second Death Star, only 23 remain in service with the Oordelay royal guard. Impressed by Plo Koon's custom fighter, the Oordali ministry of defense ordered many of these ships during the clone wars to supplement their navy and air force. The Aethersprites are the only non-Oordali designed or produced ships in their fleet. Unlike the "jedi starfighter" used in the clone wars, this later-model Aethersprite is hyperspace-capable, as is the escape pod. In addition to being slightly larger, it has been designated the R-1 in Oordali service. The ajar torpedo tubes fire custom, long-range homing torpedoes are paired with two large repeating lasers in-line with the engines. Instead of an astromech droid, the space in front of the cockpit has been turned into a pressurized cargo hold, often containing a hardcase full of survival equipment, a blaster of the pilot's preference, and a royal cortosis-phrik alloy shield. [WIP] Re-Creating Sleepers E-Wing

Hi Guys! Today I've decided to share with you my very first LDD project, re-creating Sleepers E-wing. I absolutely love the E-Wing as a starfighter, and Sleepers lego version captures it perfectly. So far, I have managed to make the nose, body, and wings, leaving just the engines and smaller wings left, along with some other fine tuning. Really, I've hit a wall and can't continue. My main issue is the how to connect the smallest wing and gun. My current iteration has the wing connected to the gun, and that connected to the engine, which snaps underneath the wing. This isn't perfected yet, leaving it in pieces. If any one has suggestions of tips, they would be appreciated. Knor Interstellar Outpost

This build is for the Interstellar Outpost contest on Flickr. The idea is to build a one-man starfighter, landing pad, ground support vehicle, and comm station that together form a space outpost. I don't build sci-fi a lot, so this was a good challenge. After so many Castle builds, using lots of bright colors was really fun. The starfighter's wings rotate with a twist of the knob on top, to switch between flight and hover/landing mode; it also has a functional landing gear. The tanker truck has working steering (also operated by the knob on top) and 'suspension'. The comm station has a full interior and the landing pad doubles as a storage area. And just for fun, a picture with the colors inverted: See more pictures here: http://www.brickbuilt.org/?p=324 C&C welcome

  11. Hey SteamWars-friends This is my interpretation of how the iconic Starfighter of Obi Wan might have looked in the Victorian Ages. Entry for the SteamWars-Madness on FBTB in the semifinals against Markus. And in addition i build a fitting HyperSteam-Ring for faster travelling through the SteamWars-Univsers: More photos can be be found here. All my SteamWars build will also be displayed in Skaerbaek. Probably the only chance to see them in "real". Good luck to Markus and thanks for stopping by. Best regards Jonas

    Star Flower

Cliché Rodian bounty hunter Ronnagond Jarra doesn't always like her starfighters flowery and pastel-colored, but when she does, they have big guns. This is the first of three ships I made for the 14x14x6 Starfighter Contest. The contest's basic premise, for those too lazy to follow the link, is to build a minifig-scale starfighter that is capable of fitting within a box with a volume of precisely 14x14x6 studs (not bricks high, studs high). I chose to engineer folding spacecraft rather than super small ones (chibi scale) that would just fit right in. Observe: Fully capable of fitting into my fancy box, without the stand, of course. I actually had to redesign this one after I thought I had finished because the big gun was originally placed horizontally (that is, with the two-stud-long side flush with the ship's belly) with a technic pin so it could just swivel 180 degrees out from the bottom when in compact mode, effectively doubling the ship's length. However, I overlooked that this nonnegotiable detail boosted the height just over 6 studs (darned tall cockpits) and I was unwilling to reconfigure the cockpit, as you may have noticed that it flows nicely into the medium azure angled slope piece behind it. I eventually came up with the droid arm-and-T-piece solution, which allows it to sit in the box at a steep enough angle to keep the cockpit just at the height limit. The new gun solution doubles the ship's length as before but also increases its height by approximately 30% all while making it...wait for it...20% cooler. Obligatory detail shots: Left side. Head-on view of the front. You know the gun is big enough when it evades your camera's focus! The right side. The backside, showing the propulsion output array. There's a hyperdrive in there somewhere... I don't build much Star Wars stuff and in all honesty the only reason this is here, rather than in the Sci-fi forum, is because the pilot is a Rodian, but hey... It kind of looks like a letter, right? Oh, wait...it doesn't... not really... ...and I just realized that if Ronnagond is a bounty hunter, how in the name of ponies is she going to stuff any bounties she captures into this tiny thing...? Oh well, I tried. More on Flickr and I hope you enjoyed!

    [MOC] ISV Atalaya

I bet some of you thought I had forgotten about LEGO. Well this proves you wrong. Spent about six hours building this over two days. I've really been wanting to build a nice spaceship after seeing all of the nice STG fighters. It's quite sturdy, and I've had some great swoosh sessions. Also my entry for the Part Challenge. Forward flare shamelessly stolen from Ochre Jelly. Flickr Set June 2014
  18. Hey there, i'm relative new in this forums, but not to LEGO Star Wars.. ^^ Until now, i've spent my time on Imperium der Steine, a german Lego Star wars forum. But now, i want to introduce myself here, with my first MOC. It's my version of the E-Wing Escort Starfighter, well known from the Expanded Universe. Introduced at the time of the New Republic, it was later one of the major starfighters in the New Republic's Navy. It's a single-pilot Starfighter, with support from an Astromech-droid, which is placed in a slot behind the cockpit. The Starfighter is equipped with a Shield-generator and armed with three laser-cannons and one proton-torpedo launcher. This shown model is created out of 343 bricks, including the Pilot and the Astromech-Droid. It's build in minifigure-scale and fits in it's size to the second generation (2006) x-wing. Created as a concept model in LDD. I have uploaded it on Cuusoo too, so maybe, you would support me. It would be great.. ;) Thanks, and best regards $leeper

    [MOC] K-Wing Starfighter

Hi, I just wanted to share my K-Wing with you. If you want this to become an official LEGO set, please support this project on LEGO Ideas (formerly LEGO Cuusoo). History The K-Wing was a heavy starfighter in the Star Wars universe. It was developed for the New Republic during the Yevethan crisis, replacing the B-Wing. In the Second Galactic Civil War, Commenor deployed K-wings for defense during the Battle of Commenor. (→ read more on Wookieepedia) The LEGO set The set I'm thinking of includes 3 rebel pilot minifigs and a R2-series astromech droid. It would fit perfectly to the other already released starfighters, like the official X- or Y-Wing sets. I created the model using Lego Digital Designer. My construction consists of 1020 pieces, the price would probably be around $100.00, but please consider that the final set design by LEGO could be different. Please support this project Again, please cast your supporting vote and spread the word, inform your family, your friends, and anyone you know who could be interested in supporting this LEGO set idea - the path to 10,000 supports is a long one and this mission needs any help it can get! ;) PS: I’m going to build one when reaching 1,000 supporters
  20. Hu hu, after short introduction, I wanted to present my newest MOC. It's a starfighter, a viper and I am sure it is not the last one. Inspired by T-5 DUOLOS X-Viper by nate_decastro. It was his starfighter version for Starfighter-Telephone-Game. And according to the game, I redesigned it whith some of my ideas. Bigger Pics at Flickr. I hope you like it
  21. A British newspaper, the Daily Mail, will soon be running a Lego promotion. You can see the polybags that will be part of the promo here: http://brickset.com/sets/list-10595 The 30247 ARC-170 Starfighter is pretty rare. I believe it's never been available in North America or continental Europe. If you're interested in any of these, please: 1. express your interest by posting below, and 2. PM me to let me know specifically what you're after and if you want to buy or trade. I'm after: - a sealed Iron Man polybag ( http://brickset.com/sets/30167-1/Iron-Man-vs-Fighting-Drone ) - the Hulk big fig (both trouser colours) in mint condition - the Taskmaster minifig in mint condition - the Neimoidian Warrior minifig ( http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=sw536 ) in mint condition. Benny Starfighter

I've not really done anything Classic Space MOC wise and thought this would be a good chance to do one with the recent Lego Movie and return of classic space and space somewhat in general with the sets that are going to be released, which I'll be buying for my collection. Anyway, while I like the large Spaceship (70816), I personally prefer the smaller one as seen in the promo poster in this thread. I decided to make my own version/interpretation of it. It is different from the Lego version as I like to make my stuff streamlined, as well as some of the details being a bit different, however hopefully it stays faithful to the original while also offering a personal flavour to it. Here it is, I'll get more pictures up in time. Hope you like it.
  23. [MOC] Jedi Starfighter by Bert.VR, on Flickr Hey, I think I've seen those pieces before... And you're right. This Jedi Starfighter is another alternate build of Lego's 75003 A-wing, just like my Slave I. Once again, all the pieces come from that one set. At least, this time the colors actually make sense... I think this alternate building is growing on me. I can only enter one MOC in the Rebrickable alternate build contest, but I can still have fun and promote it ! So I was thinking about another build. A republic gunship turned out too complex and ended in one terrrrrible looking and undoubtely filmsy build . I did, however, took some techniques with me for this starfighter. I own both the Slave I and Obi-Wan's starfighter, and while building my previous entry, I noticed that a lot of pieces where in common with that starfighter. Seeing another Starfighter MOC here inspired me to take the final step. And this is what came out. [MOC] Jedi Starfighter by Bert.VR, on Flickr The starfighter features an opening cockipt (with place for a minifig like Obi-Wan, and with place for a coffee mug of course) and landing gear. It includes motors and realistically angled wings. Making the sharp nose was the greatest challenge, but some SNOT saved me in the end. The color scheme ended up looking a tiny bit like Obi-Wan's starfighter, so that's a good thing. Slave I and Jedi Starfighter by Bert.VR, on Flickr So what do you have to remember from this adventure? Buy two A-wings, and you get an opportunity to recreate that chase sequence from Episode Two once again. To do so, check out the Rebrickable page (I will post a link once it gets approved) for a digital model and a partlist. You'll find pdf instructions here. Just like the old days. A set is never one set!

    [MOC] Blacktron Stealth

It has been a while since I have shown anything, I'll admit I don't think this one is anything special, it is more filler if anything, although because the Star Wars windscreens went together well and the drill weapon on the front was ok, I suppose a craft is a craft at the end of the day and I found it passable enough at least to make it a nifty fighter. I am however looking forward to showing what I have coming after this over time, as I am much happier with them, it's only just about to get better, and if I can get POV-Ray to work as said before in other threads then even better. Anyway, I present this time the Blacktron Stealth. Original Vintage Yellow Space Shots Enjoy!

    Blacktron Revenger

First of all, happy 2014 everyone! What better way to kick the New Year off with a new MOC. Not just that, what you are about to see is pretty much a fresh format, almost like a reboot. Now that POV-Ray is working well, it means that the detail is much more real compared to the old method of just using LDraw snapshots, making it almost cartoony, in some ways it does look cool and old school, however I’d much prefer it looking more real. The logos have also been given a revamp and made sleeker with an overall less excess baggage look, hopefully you’ll enjoy seeing the changes as much as I enjoyed working on them come together. Right, my next MOC you might recognise is a modern nod to a certain older Blacktron ship design Lego released in 91, and one of their best in my view. There have been modern remakes of it, however I felt it was a good idea to break the mould a bit and make a bit of a different design approach. I give you the Blacktron Revenger, while small, it makes up for it in sheer speed, agility and flexibility of being able to pretty much fit in and be a use anywhere. The fastest single piloted craft in the galaxy. Four powerful weapon heads on each of the four wings, and with top secret research and development by mischievous Blacktron scientists, the ship can fire either lasers or torpedo’s, or for even more it can fire all four lasers into one to make a more powerful destructive beam. Yellow Version And as a further extra, some more generations of it. Future Generation Version Yes I know, it rendered trans yellow, although I thought it looked pretty cool and a bit different but still looking like Future Generation so I kept it like that, they look more trans yellow in the catalogue pictures too to my eyes. Blacktron 3 Version My personal take on the Blacktron 3 look. And finally some space shots. There are a lot of pictures so the rest can be seen in this link. I also while I was at it revamped the last few MOC’s that just used the less detailed LDraw picture format. Anyway, enjoy!
