[MOC] Galaxy Squad - Exterminator Eye

Hey, This is my first MOC I've ever shared. It's made completely from pieces from the Bug Obliterator (70705), which was a fun challenge. It does use a little bit of the Bug Obliterator's build in the wings and the long beams up top. I'm calling it the Exterminator Eye, "eye" for the double-sided bubble windscreens enclosing the pilot, and "exterminator" because... bugs. I also tried to name it using an alliteration like a lot of the GS sets. I think of it more as a type of support/utility ship for the orange team. MOC - LL Gouw - Neo Classic Space

Lego Classic Space - 1665 - LL Gouw by WSM_, on Flickr I finished this spaceship about two weeks ago, but as you know, the Neo Classic Space colorscheme is very strict, so i swore by getting myself a Trans-Yellow canopy before taking pictures. I hoped the guy i bought it from would attend the LUG meet i showed this model at a week ago, but sadly not, so i had to show it there with the wrong canopy (a Trans-Black one). So here it finally is! There's way more photos on Flickr which are definitely worth to check. :) Enjoy!
  6. Hey guys! What's up?! I'm a new member (Hello everyone!) and was wanting to get some help going through some old Legos from my childhood/my uncles childhood that I just got from my parents recently. Like most, I actually hadn't thought of a Lego in years, and finally got out the totes that I had in my house that housed about 1/3 of my old sets from childhood (I had mostly space (pretty much every set from 1987-1994 excluding 6987, 6990, but all the SP1/2, BK1/2, Mtron, Ice P, and Spyrius) and some castle/pirates), anyhoo, there was also a huge amount of bags from my grandmas house that I guess I assumed were just "old boring legos" and was gonna stuff them away again, but I looked at some parts sorted out a handful of what I figured were unique parts and made an "Urainium search vehicle" using bricklink inv list and online instructions. As a kid I always thought that the "old space" was boring, but now that I made one its actually kind of cool, and most importantly my two sons love legos and I like building things for them! Anyways, there are POUNDS of old space stuff including at least a Beta 1 command base (6970....found this out based on the one off part 3754pb01), 6971 IG command base (have big pile of blue windows and a few solid blue 4228 parts), robot command ctr (couple solid blue "rocket" pieces and a handful of solid blue canopies), couple fx star patrollers, gamma V laser craft, another Uranium search vehicle, and prob at least 10 more sets (theres a couple 924 and other numbered bricks in there too). Sooooo, here's where I need your expert advice! I'm obviously on the right track using bricklink, etc. but, is there a way to know what "generic" (ie 1x4, etc) brick was from what time period? (ie: look at the mold numbers from the lot it was created on?) I figure if I'm going through all this trouble I might as well try to get it as close to original as possible, esp because these sets are a pretty big deal I guess! ( just bought my son a 6990 since I didn't have one as a kid and figured that would be expensive, but had no idea that these old space bases were worth so much, which makes me want to keep them and pass it on to my children/grandchildren!). Also, any other suggestions would be great too (ie general research/building and if there is a way to ask for older pieces when ordering off bricklink.com, etc in case I need to get a couple bits to finish out a set??). Thanks a bunch guys! Here's a few pics (this is just a little bit of what I've sorted already and the Invader/UFO ship/Forestman thing are just what my son had out from my stuff while I was working on this): Sorry, it's not letting me upload any more pics! I have some large 'windscreen looking things that have the space logo in both large and small sizes, as well as a few others I'd like to have you guys look at but it keeps saying it is too big! I'll try again later on my computer (this is as small as it will let me make it on my phone, sry!) Thanks again for all you help!!!!

    Review: 6987 Message Intercept Base

I wasn't expecting to review anything, and this is the only review you'll most likely see me do, however given the set it is then I'd be only happy to review it. Some facts: Released: 1988 Pieces: 569 Minifigures: 5 Build time: Around 2-3hrs Price paid: Just over £50 The set is the all time classic Space base from my favourite Space subtheme, Blacktron. It is the one and only 6987 Message Intercept Base. The best space base made in my opinion and pretty much the peak of Lego space. Many say that the bad guys got the biggest base, but in a sense when it was released in 1988 for its first year it was kinda a good guy base too, it was only in 1989 when Space Police came out that Lego changed the space story/canon somewhat and made Blacktron become outcast in a way and splitting away. Either way that doesn't stop it from being amazing, the Star Trek: First Contact of Lego space bases. And sometimes its good to be a little bit bad. The story goes that a while ago I managed to get a new example of this set, however the box wasn't great and was missing the front flap/lid, I managed to get another empty box which also wasn't great in other areas, but had the lid. I carefully took the lid off and carefully glued it to the new examples box successfully. I still had somewhat of an original box left though, so I decided to buy a complete set unboxed with instructions to pair with it so I can sell it back in better more complete condition than before. However that gave me a great excuse to make it and while I'm at it post a review. So let's get on with the details. It looks like this new. The Building Process With all that out of the way, time to empty the parts, get out the instructions and start building the detailed model. First, the set comes with some pretty nice parts, some of the more special ones that stand out are shown below. The trans yellow windscreen parts as always look great, there is even a 4x6 trans yellow plate, which rings back to the old classic space days. A nice use of castle wall pieces too, as well as the large black panel piece with the iconic Blacktron logo. The Minifigures/Crew The base comes with 5 classic Blacktron astronauts, sporting the mostly black body with grey detailing, and the intimidating pure black visor, becuase not being able to see your face is just cooler and so much more badass. It has a good amount of crew, however an extra figure or two would have been nice for a base this large and detailed, but oh well, at least its better than a lot that came after where the numbers seemed to go down to about 3. Instructions Being released 25 years ago now, the instructions that came with the set were harder to follow than now, less pages but more work on each step, I like that though. The front cover shows the base opening and closing as well as two of the four alternate models that can be built. A massive walker (basically a much larger Alienator) and a spaceship, which looks a bit like a much more fearsome Spyrius Saucer Centurion (6939) released some years later. The Baseplate This is pretty much the last big space base set that still used a flat surface studded plate before the raised baseplate came along afterwards. It actually consists of two plates, one large flat one, next to another one the same size with some cool crater detailing, another nod to what was used in classic space. These two together as you are about to see makes for one hell of a large home. Vehicles The base comes with two vehicles, a small but nimble buggy and an agile spacecraft. While not as large as separate models like the Battrax (6941) or Renegade (6954), they are still cool and give the base a sense of being complete. The buggy doesn't contain a lot of parts, however despite that it is the little details that make it rather nice. Those large tyres make it compensate for the not too many parts it has, and it just looks so space like. Even the transparent red rocket piece at the back with the transparent red cone at the front while only being as few pieces just make it look sleek and a lot of fun. It could totally ace the car chase scene in Star Trek: Nemesis. The spacecraft is one of the gems of the set, it is a small Vic Viper like craft. The wings can be adjusted to fold up and down, in some ways it resembles one of those mini Klingon fighters from Star Trek Into Darkness. Very clever design, even the thrusters are neat and it has enough firepower at the front and on the wings. It resides in the hanger of the base and actually stems around one of the main functional features of the base which will be revealed. It must be great being him. Ready to boldly go...where no one from Futuron has gone before. Space... The Base Itself Now onto making the big part, the base itself, what a joy it is to make. Here's a shot of part way through making, to show how this set is full of detail, this actually feels like a base, a place where if you are a Blacktron astronaut you really can chill out here after a hard days work. Control stations, tool/weapon holders and the spacecraft launchpad, plenty of stuff to do. The base is now complete in all of its glory. As you can see, there is a control tower to the right, which quite cleverly using a sort of gear piece below it can move backwards and forwards connecting to the base or separating on its own and making things look bigger and more spaced out. When separated it allows you to open up the walkway/corridor in between. Another part that uses the same method is the hanger itself, which again through the use of a rotating gear piece opens the hanger right out, to allow, yes you guessed it, the spacecraft to jet off. It also makes the unique and rare yellow 3x3 dish pieces at either side open out. One small flaw with this mechanism is that it is a bit fragile if you aren't careful. The Blacktron astronaut not in the craft can only just about hide his jealousy that he's not in it. And now back to work, can't be long until its is my turn to fly it, or mine. Another load of excellent interior detail this set offers. Dammit, I want the car! Well at least I have this weapon. The detail just doesn't end, revealed in the middle towards the rear of the hanger is a small and cute control booth that can be accessed via ladder, just below is another control area. Going back towards the right end of the base are more control areas, including another raised area with a yellow seat, although how the guy gets down is anyone guess. I may find it hard getting down, but I'm still higher up than you are. Relax, I know what I'm doing. And now my final and favourite part of the base, the corridor/walkway in between. This may not seem like a big bit, bit it is so nicely detailed and feels really realistic. You can lift the two windowed areas up via the hinges to put someone in the staring or walking down the corridor. In order to lift the one up at the front of the base you have to move the control tower forward a bit, otherwise you won't be able to get your hand in, it's a bit annoying but doesn't take much to do at least. I gotta get to that craft now! Well that's it, to sum up this is a fantastic base and my favourite, so many nice touches that overall make for a sweet build. It does have some minor flaws, like as mentioned no stairs to the top part in the control tower and no way of getting up to the base itself from the outside, but this is Lego so I'll just use my imagination. A bit flimsy in places and an extra minifig or two would be nice, however that could be solved easily now. As a whole it makes for an amazing space base that could even be modded to make even more detailed, while its obvious the colour scheme is also classic too, can't beat mostly black with some yellow highlighting. It gets my seal of approval, and it was fantastic having the chance to make it again. Pros +Amazing design and detail +Superb colour scheme +Nice vehicles +Many nice compartments +Great playability Cons -Flimsy in some places -One or two more minifigures would have been nice Overall: 95% Anyway I hope you enjoyed my review, thanks for reading.

    [MOC] Surface Buggy - LDD

  9. This is Benny the 1980-something Space Guy's apartment. It features a garage on the lower floor for his Lego Classic Space - styled Car. The style of the set is based off half of set 6390, a Classic Town set from 1980. (This set was re-released in 2003 under the short-lived Lego LEGENDS line as set 10041.) Also, unlike most of my buildings, Benny's apartment does not open like a dollhouse, but features removable levels to accesses the inside, much like a modular building. The numbers "60" should go on the stud next to the door, as provided by this piece: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=3070bpb003 The rear of the building is a solid brick wall. (now I'm thinking of that Pink Floyd song "Another Brick in The Wall") The lower floor features Benny's Classic Space-themed car. The upper floor features a layout with miniature buildings, a bed, side-table with lamp, computer, a micro-model of Benny's SPACESHIP! LEGO set and a 1980's telephone. The arch on Benny's LEGO layout features this printed piece courtesy of Astro Kitty: http://www.bricklink....asp?P=4490pb02 This Classic Space car features: -Trans-Yellow glass / headlights -Classic space logo on the rear of the car -Classic Space accurate color scheme The rear features the (printed!) classic space logo from Benny Spaceship: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=30363pb021 Here is the LDD file for the car and building: http://www.mocpages....1425153749m.lxf

    Rovers: The LG-2 and CS-0

These two rovers were a lot of fun to build. I don't build sci-fi a lot, so this was a nice change from Castle. The little rover was especially interesting, as I used pretty much only grey for it, which limited my part selection. The larger rover (the LG-2) has working steering, 'suspension,' and opening tailgates; while the smaller (CS-0) has a neat sample gatherer, moveable radar dish, and hinges between each section of the vehicle. More pictures here: http://www.brickbuilt.org/?p=1982 C&C welcome
  12. Hello everyone! So every now and then I look at this page and get inspired by many illustrations presented here or just try to remember them, and it inspires me to think about how would I reboot the "classic" Space themes, such as Blacktron, Ice Planet, Space Police, Spyrius... These thoughts has led me to some results that are posted here. And today I want to show you some of my ideas of how would droid/robotic helpers would look like in a rebooted space? Ice Planet Reloaded - Figures by The Mugbearer, on Flickr The Ice Planet robot was the first that I made. The role I had in mind is a fast-moving scout/courier. Space Police Patrol and Apprehension Unit by The Mugbearer, on Flickr For Space Police robot I had a more specific role in mind. This droid is for patrol and apprehension, which means it must have a sturdy frame and be mobile enough to scale the distance between itself and perpetrator. It hovers above the ground and uses it's shoulder boosters for steering. Blacktron Intruder Bot by The Mugbearer, on Flickr The latest robot I made is the biggest among them all, and there's no surprise since it's an intruder battle droid that disguises itself as a recon probe. It's armed with plasma circular sawblade and a laser gun, and it's sole purpose is to sabotage the work of M-Tron's facilities. That's all for now, enjoy!

[MOC] Space Drone "Delta Protecter V"

Greetings all! You may have seen me around Eurobricks, mostly in Star Wars. I've been trying to expand my interests and LEGO work lately, and because I like Star Wars so much, and Sci-Fi is so close to Star Wars, and basically is Star Wars, I decided to get some parts, get some of my aliens, space troopers and lasers and make a small MOC. I quite like my design of my small Drone. It can be used for spying, combat and exploration. Alright, lets get to it. Here is Space Troopers Drone "Delta Protector V". Excuse the name at the top for being misspelled. SpaceDrone1 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr Here's a view of the Drone. A small thing at the top to receive orders and commands. A big red eye and two side scanners to have maximum seeing ability, 4 mini side lasers, and one big rotating laser at it's bottom (hard to land it ) SpaceDrone2 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr Basically same picture but a bit closer and a maintenance crewman working on some minor damages and space troopers and officers in the background SpaceDrone3 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr A view of the back of it. SpaceDrone5 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr The Drone's main gun in action. A small firefight with a hostile alien life form. (excuse the connector, imagine it not there) SpaceDrone6 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr Two of it's four smaller lasers engage the hostile alien at close range, a Space Officer also comes in to aid. SpaceDrone7 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr A closeup of it's firing skills and a sort of side view of the thing. SpaceDrone8 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr Frontal firing view. SpaceDrone9 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr The Delta Protector V Drone saves the day! I hope you liked it, please comment, tell me what you think, it helps me to better preform next time and tells me if you like it or not. Please add any suggestions for the Drone (parts to add on, take off, etc). Maybe I'll create some more space stuff? Thanks for viewing!

  23. Moon Squad Anti-Aircraft Ground Cannon This set comprises an Anti Aircraft Groud Cannon, working with blue plasma energie, located inside a small secured area. The secured area : The secured area is a squared space surrounded with a blue plasma fence, liberating a small plasma incapaciting discharge to everybody touching it. The area comprises also a check-point in the form of a closed small building, having on its roof, a space scooter landing plot. The secured area is equiped, on three corners, with a very effective targeting system, in the form of three small radar self-searching and targeting units. The targeting system is of course coupled with the ground cannon. The anti-aircraft ground cannon : It is a squared building, having a operation center at the bottom, an the actual cannon on the top. The operation center is piloted by two technicians. The cannon is fully horizontal rotating (360°C) and the two turrets can be leaned vertically over almost 25°C, independantly from each other. A ladder present next to the entrance door, permits an acces to the cannon level for the technicians if necessary. The vehicles : The set comprises a space scooter, which is a small flying transport unit for one single minifig. Further present in this set, a ground wheeled transport vehicle for the transport of isolation units in which a prisoner can be kept and locked in. The rear part of the vehicle can be folded down, to allow the exit of the isolation unit. The cockpit can be lifted, to introduce the pilot. The hood can also be lifted to see te plasma driven motor. The isolation unit can, of course, be opened, by lifting the front part. (see pictures) The Minifigs : This set comprise seven moon squad minifigs. There are two technicians (without weapons) and the Pilot of the wheeled transport vehicle. There are also four armed minifigs, in charge of the defense of the complex. All four units have a plasma shield. Two of them have a plasma pistol One has a plasma rifle And the last one has a plasma ray power phaser. So, if you like this set, you can support it on Lego Ideas : Moon Squad Anti-Aircraft Ground Cannon

    MOC: Grand Admiral Thrawn

Hello, Here to present the MOC I posted on ideas.lego - https://ideas.lego.c.../87740/comments It's all about grand admiral THRAWN and his seat of power :) He is a beloved character from the former STAR WARS' EU. But if you feel like me then this one should become canon as well because there is plenty of room between episode VI and VII. Hope you like it. Set - It is a pretty simple set. There is a moveable arm console that let's you place a small holocron image. The seat spins 360º because of turntable element underneath the seat. But the main attraction is in fact the minifigure :) Let me know what you think and if it deserves your support or why not :) Cheers
