  1. These are builds inspired by or taken from the first MMO made for Lego: LEGO Universe. (or LU, as it was affectionately known) Here is my base, and below is it's history + the LU story post-2010: This game had very few real world items in sets, but two things did come out: First, an astronaut for people who pre-ordered the game in 2010... and then a rocket that was modular in the style of the game (Nose + Cockpit + Engine) and was released in a LEGO Club event to build your own rocket. (both pictures from Brick Link) The game lasted barely past it's first birthday (October 2010 was when it started), with the plug being pulled on February 1st 12:01 AM 2012. As a testament to the game I played and loved, I built some models that continue the story past 2012 and beyond the current day. Here are those builds: The Neo-Nexus Force, pilots, droids, and officers. The NIFT-E robot was designed in 2015 to compliment the thousands of Sentry (set 4416) series robots produced in 2006 by the X-POD corporation for the original Nexus Force founders. Thirty-four of these newer robots were produced in 2018 as a test batch, called the Nexus Iron Friendly Teammate - Engineer class (NIFT-E) for use as spaceship ground-crew and heavy engineering duties, including fueling and heavy duty maintenance, computer updating, and guiding ships into landing zones. They are used alongside human counterparts who work on the harder to reach areas of a ship's engine, and on life support systems. Each human master mechanic (of which every base has at least two or three of them, plus several apprentices) is assigned an NIFT-E counterpart, in which they are equal partners working towards the same goal: keeping the ships flying, the base humming with life, and repair bay as empty as possible in case of emergencies. I copied this back in 2012 from a desktop download from the old LEGO Universe game. It was carefully cut out and switched to gray scale to save ink. It is the logo of the Nexus Force. Due to the Nexus Force logo not being found anywhere but a expensive mini-figure torso from a limited edition polybag, I have decided to change the logo to something different. This new logo is seen in the 2014 CITY Arctic sets. I figure this is my in-universe explanation of the logo change: This moon base-like space base model was inspired by set 60036 (Arctic Base Camp), with a rooftop shield generator partially lifted from set 75098 (Assault on Hoth) and a sensor array inspired by set 76157 (Wonder Woman VS. Cheetah) The base consists of eight separate, interchangeable, modular sections, all of which have opening roof / wall sections for ease of access. These sections include (but are not limited too): a common bunk room, a spaceship control tower, a fusion generator, communications room, break room, and several more. As you can see, I joined the base to the rail-line with a short siding for freight deliveries, and for the servicing of steam locomotives on services such as the Moonlighter passenger train. Fictional history of the base: The Nexus force landed on an ice world named DY-17, (this was soon to be renamed Ice Station Destiny) in a bit of desperation, as the Maelstrom had damaged their escape cruiser, the Bright Hope, to the point of near hyper-drive core failure. The ships sensors located no technology on the surface, and not many life forms, but a lot of geothermal activity in the form of large heat/steam vents from the core to the surface, which could be used for emergency power. The ship landed, and soon the base camp for the crew of the Bright Hope was set up. It was then discovered the planet had many mineral deposits that happen to be compatible with the metal in the Hyper-drive cooling system. So, the minerals began to be mined, and pretty soon the crew had a good operation going that was almost self-sufficient and very eco-friendly. A vote was taken, and the crew chose to stay on the ice world they re-named Ice Station Destiny, as the planet had supplied all of their wants and needs. The logo was repainted to show the original Nexus logo as a distant star, signifying the journey taken by the Bright Hope to their new home world, which was symbolized by the ice-covered world on the logo. The Bright Hope and crew were eventually discovered two years after their landing on Ice Station Destiny by the Norstas of the nearby world of Beta Polaris. Bob formed a friendship with this like-minded race, which eventually became an Alliance between the two forces, and the rest is history Common bunk room, as everyone on the base sleeps in shifts in these bunks. This corner hall module also leads outside via a back door. (not visible here) The beating Nuclear heart of the base. It is powered by cold fusion, and is situated at the center of the base, under the radio communications antenna. This deep-space communications room is where every listening post the Nexus Force has comes to bear it's potentially deadly load. What are they listening for? No, it's not the latest M-TRON corporate gossip or Blacktron III secret battle plans. It's whether the Maelstrom has figured out how to invade our universe from the old pocket dimension they have been sealed away in. This ultra top secret project has listening posts attached to an uninhibited asteroid or comet in almost every known sector of inhabited space. They plan on finding out where and when the Maelstrom ever invade (if they ever do) and planning a counterattack with all available forces before they can even fully emerge through the rip in space-time. The fusion reactor's control room. This module leads outside to the base's elevated landing pad. Upstairs is the flight control tower. This tower makes landing large spacecraft easier, and helps keep an eye out for unwanted guests. It sits on top of the previous module. These computers analyze rock samples looking for fuel traces to be mined. The break room is mostly taken from set 60036, with the addition of the Death Star plans. (Why not?) The radio array on top of the nuclear reactor. SPACE VEHICLES This ship was originally set 70816, Benny's spaceship (x3), with the Unkiitty seat and radar dish removed in favor of a skylight and laser gun turret instead. The sliding wings were redesigned to be stationary and thus provide space under the turret for commander Bob. The ship also has separate passageways for crew to walk so they don't have to go outside to go to Bob, engineering, or the bridge. More recently, I combined the ship with a more elongated nose taken from the 2015 DC Comics set 76028 (Darksied Invasion). I was inspired to build this model by this cool ship by Oran Cruzen as seen here. The ship has three areas for up to eight crew to be placed, with passageways for the figures to "walk" from section to section. The rear of the ship has three engines and a rotating, elevating laser turret above. This rocket was originally poly-bag number 55001 from the failed 2010 MMO Lego Universe. Just like in the game, it can split into three modular parts connected by Technic axles. These sections are the following: -Nose-Cone -Cockpit -Engine The rockets can be dissembled into the three component sections and are interchangeable with each other, and with about 15+ other rockets available in LDD form from the Lego Universe Wiki. Also, the completed rockets can seat 1 mini-figure each. This ship is heavily based on set 80020 (White Dragon horse Jet) from the Monkie Kid theme. I made it slightly less overtly dragon-themed by removing the "eyes holes" by closing them up and replacing them with slopes. I also added laser cannons where the flick-fire shooter was, plus the canopy has been reversed 180 degrees too. This allows for more room for the pilot to sit up and reach the controls. The rear of the rocket-ship has one engine, with the Imagination-fueled powerplant located under the light bluish gray heatsink panels. This space fighter now looks more like a F-18 jet with the new brick-built tail fins. (at least to me!) LAND VEHICLES This 1960's-inspired sports car is one mean-looking space-driving machine! Partially inspired by Lola the car from the TV show Agents of Shield, (although this one doesn't fly) this is Bob's ultimate ride. ..and it even has room for taillights! (no exhaust pipe needed, this thing runs on clean fusion.) This model is a slightly modified version of set 60033, Arctic Ice Crawler that I call the Mobile Ice Driller . Whereas the original set has a crane hook, this one has a much more useful drill bit. The drill is used for mining energy crystals embedded deep within the ice of the frozen world on which the Neo Nexus Force is stationed. This is a very slightly modified version of set 60035: Arctic Outpost. All I really did to this one was add the symbol to the front fender. The inside of the mobile outpost is a lab, complete with Bunsen burner and microscope with crystal sample. It seems the computer hanging from the ceiling bar is off right now, as the scientist is out collecting more samples that were dug out with the Mobile Ice Drill. The rear of the model is pretty sparse in details, and as such, their isn't much to say about it. The snow speeder you see here is a simple vehicle to aid in fetching luggage and equipment across the base. It is armed with a flare gun and a radio. These come in mighty handy when the sun sets and temperatures plummet to well below minus 125 Fahrenheit! These two trains comprise my space-train fleet for the Nexus Force, one streamlined passenger train, and one generic freight train. You can read more about this (space!) trains here in the dedicated topic at the Train-Tech sub forum. It has plenty of pictures of this new addition to be arriving soon! FINAL THOUGHTS Well, that's all I've built so far, but that's not the end of the story or the models. Scott Bourgeois from MOCpages has made some pretty awesome stuff related to the Neo Nexus Force, their first allies, the peaceful Norstas (from the planet Beta Polaris in orbit of the the North Star) and the common enemy, the Xantukans. (inspired by the snake cultists from Ninjago) Here is a link to his Neo Nexus Force page with related builds: http://www.mocpages....lder.php/189764 EDITED 2/21/2021 Added new overall picture and Moonlighter steam train image. Any thoughts / ideas / complaints would be appreciated!

[MOC] Ice Planet ARC-1 Mobile Command Ship

The ARC-1 or otherwise known as "Arctic One by the ice planet goers" is fresh off the assembly line and has been proven reliable in its heavy armor and smooth flying capabilities. Instead of it's normal use as a cargo carrier or space police prisoner transport, this particular model has been repainted and is being used by a crew of ice-jewel seeking adventurers that are always on the go. ARC2 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Minibase 1 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr ARC7 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr ARC5 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr These adventurers spared no expense. Their modifications to the ARC-1 consist of a service robot, a portable refinery, a small survey tower, and a snow-mobile. ARC3 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr The back can open up to store the service robot. ARC10 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr ARC1 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Due to the added snow-mobile in the storage bay, the cargo has to be held on the back. That must be one strong rope. ARC9 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr The middle cargo bay can easily be released to reveal the snowmobile. [MOC] (Explorien) Trouble on Yemin-IV

Yemin-IV, a dangerous but priceless planet, is known for its immensely hot climate, its deadly inhabitants, and nearly impossible to survive off the land. Our unfortunate Explorien friend finds himself here, waiting for rescue. IMG_6144 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Whilst surveying the area with a small scouting ship, an unexpected sandstorm brought the ship down into a cavern. Using pieces of rubble from the ship, he managed to construct a temporary base and land speeder until he finds a way off the planet. IMG_6151 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr IMG_6154 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr On impact, the back module for the ship dug into the ground while the rest swerved to the right getting stuck in an opening to a ravine. By using the wings of the ship and other scrap, the abandoned Explorien created a makeshift weather monitor to warn of incoming sandstorms. IMG_6147 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr The locals will attack on sight, but luckily the Explorien's knowledge of lands allowed him to carve a skull in the side of the entrance to the cavern warning off the attackers, until night that is... IMG_6161 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr After surviving for a few weeks, our friend has made himself a shelter both inside and out. IMG_6160 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr The windscreen from the ship was used to construct a window. IMG_6162 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Using the leftover fuel (which somehow remarkably survived the crash), the Explorien cooks himself the meal via the booster flames from the back ship module. Mmmm, glow in the dark spider, my favourite! IMG_6163 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Here comes the night, it is time to call it in and prepare to another day without rescue. Scout vessels don't typically have the most comfortable sleeping bags on-board, but it will do. IMG_6168 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Just in-case the locals gain enough brain cells to find the entrance, the Explorien always keeps weapons on hand. IMG_6146 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Another night without encounter. Whew! IMG_6167 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Now that it's morning, it's time to repair the land speeder to, hopefully, finally, find rescue... (End of story) both by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr One of the features of the MOC is that if you wish to recreate the crashing events, you can reconstruct the ship by dismantling the makeshift creations using the remains. IMG_6174 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Hope you enjoyed this creation! C&C always appreciated. As always, happy travels, Earthling! Lego USCSS Nostromo with Refinery

Hi everybody, With the new Alien: Convenant movie coming to cinemas this May, I wanted to pay tribute to the original Alien motion picture (1979) by building the space ship in which this sci-fi classic is set – the USCSS Nostromo. Since there are already some beautiful Lego designs of the Nostromo ship (the “towing vehicle”), I wanted to do something different. As Alien fans will know, in the first few minutes of the movie, a massive refinery is moving silently through open space. I would try building this ore refinery! I hope you like the result and thank you for your feedback and comments. A special shout-out goes to the Arvo Brothers, who did some amazing Alien designs. Their work and our mutual passion inspired me to start this first Lego project . The Lego Model: Bricks: 3'144 Scale: 1:42000 (approx.) Length: 55 cm (22 in) Width: 40 cm (16 in) Height: 38 cm (15 in) Weight: 3.4 kg (7.5 lb) The build After doing some research; I started with new and old dark gray bricks. Halfway in the project the model looked like a dark “blob” and I decided to change the color to light gray. After I used up all my old gray bricks, I spend way too much money on buying bricks – especially small parts for the detailing. At first I thought the different coloring of the bricks would not work, but the fact it is not completely build out of new bricks fits the model well. The Challenges One of the main challenges, was the decision to having the top- and bottom section inverted. The reason for doing this, was to allow me to detail the model with round bricks both on the top as well as the bottom. It had to look like a refinery with tanks, pipes and structures. With every brick, it became more evident, the stability would be a challenge. The two biggest towers standing in the rear became quite heavy. This works in space with zero gravity, but on earth this means the model started tipping backward and looked more and more like a banana! After many, many trails and errors it finally worked in the end. I hope you out there like it! You can find all the pictures here on Flickr. Cheers, Remco

    Shiptember

Hi there, It is my plan to build a ship for shiptember. No pics yet, but hopefully I will have something to show off soon.
  6. This gunship is owned by Snake, former member of the Black Hole Gang. The ship is named the Atlantis II and is used by Snake as his personal transport in his new line of work. Snake became a member of the resistance after the demise of the Black Hole Gang and the destruction of his species home planet by the Space Police IV forces into a radioactive wasteland.\ In reality, the model the ship is a heavily modified Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship (set number 7930.) This ship features six guns, a ton of cargo space and rotating engine for flight or landing modes. The cockpit is also accessible via a roof hatch. The ship in flight mode, with the engine pods rotated 90 degrees. The rear of the ship, with the cargo area access hatch. The opening cockpit features a seat for the pilot figure. Two of this part go on either side of the cockpit where the 2 x 2 tiles in yellow are. The sides of the ship open up for easier access to the inside. The pilot of the ship, Snake. Not much is known about him, except he was a member of the Black Hole Gang and his home-world no longer is safe to travel to. The is available to download here. I'm thinking about buying this at the same time as my futuristic house I uploaded, as the same Brick Link seller has most of the parts I don't already have in real life. As usual Comments, Questions, & Complaints are always welcome!

  8. NOTE: I have no plans on building this IRL for now, it was just for fun to pass the time. If you want the original Star wars version, see here. This model is a combination of the best parts of sets 8095 and 7565 (both of the sets mentioned are called General Grievous’ Starfighter.) but rendered in orange and white for the Neo Nexus Force. As such, this logo here goes on the nose of the craft. Background info: The ship's name in the Star Wars universe is the "Soulless One", and is General Grievous’ personal vessel in Episode 3 and both the Clone Wars cartoon and mini-series until his death at the hands of a Obi Wan Kenobi, who then "borrowed" the ship and later abandoned it. The ship was later found on a junkyard asteroid by Neo Nexus Force leader Bob, who gave a new paint job to the vessel and rechristened it "Creative One". It serves as Bob's private space vessel when on solo missions and also when the star cruisers Bright Hope and Bright Future are not needed. The ship features a slide open cockpit, which comes with a flight computer. The ship defends itself with four laser cannons mounted near the front by the wings, two per side. I heavily modified the tail, wings, and underside to attach better to the rest of the ship. Also, in case anyone is wondering, the wings and mostly from set 7565 while 98% of the body is from set 8095. The Bob figure is included with the space ship in the LDD file, which is available here. Comments, questions and complaints are always welcome!

  10. Some of you may remember the Vintage Space Memorial I posted a couple months ago. Well, I finally got to take proper pictures of the ship I mentioned in it: the fast space cruiser Andromeda! The ship is loosely based on FX Star Patroller (6931). At least it got a lot of parts from it - and was ironically (and without me even knowing!) build exactly 30 years after the release of the set - quite a happy coincidence. My main goal was building a ship large enough to give it a "proper" space-ship bridge, as you know from TV series like Star Trek. The name of the ship's class is inspired by ther German show Raumpatroullie - Die phantastischen Abenteuer des Raumschiffs Orion (Space Patrol - The fantastic adventures of the space ship Orion), where the designation schneller Raumkreuzer (fast space cruiser), was used. For the future I plan to refit the Andromeda with a small detachable shuttle-craft and improve a few things I am not quite happy with yet. For example I literally ran out of blue bricks! And some more wall-panel computers would be helpful too Anyway. I hope you like my little big spaceship!

Terrian:While dominated by volcanic activity, the deserts here hide vast water supplies. Meanwhile back in Farmolis in the Smith Lab. Mrs Smith is going over the results from the Awesomnium crystals found and gathered from E03 The crystals have since been hooked up to a power generator to be able to see what can be done from this power source. Then on the comlink “Mrs Smith are you there?” “that sounds like Dr. Long? Great now what did those boys get up to?” I need you to load up you equipment for some water collection on F02, Mr. Smith and Guy have seemed to have found a catacomb with water and have no way of extracting it.” “No Problem, Dr. Long, I thought something had gone wrong or the boys had gotten into trouble. I will get right on it. Some time passes Alright I need these sample containers and this tanker loaded onto F429 and I will be leaving for F02. 12. I have finished my first MOC with the trans-yellow windshield that I got off brick link a couple weeks ago. Down the road I am going to use it is a remake of the Blacktron Alienator. I need to get better at the pics, but I would rather spend by hobby money on Lego instead of photo equipment. :D LL4- Cargo Transport- Side by whitesidewjw, on Flickr LL4- Cargo Transport- Back Overview by whitesidewjw, on Flickr LL4- Cargo Transport- Front Cockpit by whitesidewjw, on Flickr LL4- Cargo Transport- Cockpit Open (It opens from the bottom) by whitesidewjw, on Flickr LL4- Cargo Transport- Back by whitesidewjw, on Flickr LL4- Cargo Transport- Back w/ Cargo Hold open by whitesidewjw, on Flickr LL4- Cargo Transport- Containers by whitesidewjw, on Flickr LL4- Cargo Transport- Containers Open by whitesidewjw, on Flickr LL4- Cargo Transport- Top View by whitesidewjw, on Flickr LL4- Cargo Transport- Front/ Side by whitesidewjw, on Flickr

    [MOC] ISV Atalaya

I bet some of you thought I had forgotten about LEGO. Well this proves you wrong. Spent about six hours building this over two days. I've really been wanting to build a nice spaceship after seeing all of the nice STG fighters. It's quite sturdy, and I've had some great swoosh sessions. Also my entry for the Part Challenge. [MOC] Small Space Craft

Man, I've been checking out all the LEGO creations made here and there for years, but never really had the inspiration (or funds) to make one up myself until recently. I'm pretty new to this whole MOCing thing (at least on this level). This is a small spacecraft that I made up in LDD a few months ago and have just received the final few pieces I needed to finish up. If any of you experts out there have any advice or critiques, please let me know!

    MOC: Dawnstar - 1st Fleet

First MOC I've posted on these forums, so bear with me. Last year I saw, as I'm sure most of you did, Red Spacecat's USS Saratoga. Link: https://www.flickr.c...cat/8491654079/ Not having built LEGO for some time, I was inspired to build a similar version. I started working on it late August when I found out instructions had been released, thus making my life a lot easier. His inner structure has thus been completely plagiarized in my version, as has the bridge, but the rest is my own imagination. Enjoy! For those of you that like stats, the build took me somewhere in the region of four months to complete, and cost approximately $400 in Bricklink orders before I was satisfied. The element count is, if I recall correctly, just above 4000 pieces. Luckily, most of these are extremely cheap and readily available, meaning I don't have much incentive to disassemble her. I'm quite happy to keep her displayed for years to come.
