[MOC] Ice Planet ARC-1 Mobile Command Ship

The ARC-1 or otherwise known as "Arctic One by the ice planet goers" is fresh off the assembly line and has been proven reliable in its heavy armor and smooth flying capabilities. Instead of it's normal use as a cargo carrier or space police prisoner transport, this particular model has been repainted and is being used by a crew of ice-jewel seeking adventurers that are always on the go. ARC2 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Minibase 1 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr ARC7 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr ARC5 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr These adventurers spared no expense. Their modifications to the ARC-1 consist of a service robot, a portable refinery, a small survey tower, and a snow-mobile. ARC3 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr The back can open up to store the service robot. ARC10 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr ARC1 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Due to the added snow-mobile in the storage bay, the cargo has to be held on the back. That must be one strong rope. ARC9 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr The middle cargo bay can easily be released to reveal the snowmobile. [MOC] (Explorien) Trouble on Yemin-IV

Yemin-IV, a dangerous but priceless planet, is known for its immensely hot climate, its deadly inhabitants, and nearly impossible to survive off the land. Our unfortunate Explorien friend finds himself here, waiting for rescue. IMG_6144 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Whilst surveying the area with a small scouting ship, an unexpected sandstorm brought the ship down into a cavern. Using pieces of rubble from the ship, he managed to construct a temporary base and land speeder until he finds a way off the planet. IMG_6151 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr IMG_6154 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr On impact, the back module for the ship dug into the ground while the rest swerved to the right getting stuck in an opening to a ravine. By using the wings of the ship and other scrap, the abandoned Explorien created a makeshift weather monitor to warn of incoming sandstorms. IMG_6147 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr The locals will attack on sight, but luckily the Explorien's knowledge of lands allowed him to carve a skull in the side of the entrance to the cavern warning off the attackers, until night that is... IMG_6161 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr After surviving for a few weeks, our friend has made himself a shelter both inside and out. IMG_6160 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr The windscreen from the ship was used to construct a window. IMG_6162 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Using the leftover fuel (which somehow remarkably survived the crash), the Explorien cooks himself the meal via the booster flames from the back ship module. Mmmm, glow in the dark spider, my favourite! IMG_6163 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Here comes the night, it is time to call it in and prepare to another day without rescue. Scout vessels don't typically have the most comfortable sleeping bags on-board, but it will do. IMG_6168 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Just in-case the locals gain enough brain cells to find the entrance, the Explorien always keeps weapons on hand. IMG_6146 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Another night without encounter. Whew! IMG_6167 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Now that it's morning, it's time to repair the land speeder to, hopefully, finally, find rescue... (End of story) both by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr One of the features of the MOC is that if you wish to recreate the crashing events, you can reconstruct the ship by dismantling the makeshift creations using the remains. IMG_6174 by The Neighborhood Merchant, on Flickr Hope you enjoyed this creation! C&C always appreciated. As always, happy travels, Earthling! Lego USCSS Nostromo with Refinery

Hi everybody, With the new Alien: Convenant movie coming to cinemas this May, I wanted to pay tribute to the original Alien motion picture (1979) by building the space ship in which this sci-fi classic is set – the USCSS Nostromo. Since there are already some beautiful Lego designs of the Nostromo ship (the “towing vehicle”), I wanted to do something different. As Alien fans will know, in the first few minutes of the movie, a massive refinery is moving silently through open space. I would try building this ore refinery! I hope you like the result and thank you for your feedback and comments. A special shout-out goes to the Arvo Brothers, who did some amazing Alien designs. Their work and our mutual passion inspired me to start this first Lego project . The Lego Model: Bricks: 3'144 Scale: 1:42000 (approx.) Length: 55 cm (22 in) Width: 40 cm (16 in) Height: 38 cm (15 in) Weight: 3.4 kg (7.5 lb) The build After doing some research; I started with new and old dark gray bricks. Halfway in the project the model looked like a dark “blob” and I decided to change the color to light gray. After I used up all my old gray bricks, I spend way too much money on buying bricks – especially small parts for the detailing. At first I thought the different coloring of the bricks would not work, but the fact it is not completely build out of new bricks fits the model well. The Challenges One of the main challenges, was the decision to having the top- and bottom section inverted. The reason for doing this, was to allow me to detail the model with round bricks both on the top as well as the bottom. It had to look like a refinery with tanks, pipes and structures. With every brick, it became more evident, the stability would be a challenge. The two biggest towers standing in the rear became quite heavy. This works in space with zero gravity, but on earth this means the model started tipping backward and looked more and more like a banana! After many, many trails and errors it finally worked in the end. I hope you out there like it! You can find all the pictures here on Flickr. Cheers, Remco

    Shiptember

Hi there, It is my plan to build a ship for shiptember. No pics yet, but hopefully I will have something to show off soon.
  5. This gunship is owned by Snake, former member of the Black Hole Gang. The ship is named the Atlantis II and is used by Snake as his personal transport in his new line of work. Snake became a member of the resistance after the demise of the Black Hole Gang and the destruction of his species home planet by the Space Police IV forces into a radioactive wasteland.\ In reality, the model the ship is a heavily modified Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship (set number 7930.) This ship features six guns, a ton of cargo space and rotating engine for flight or landing modes. The cockpit is also accessible via a roof hatch. The ship in flight mode, with the engine pods rotated 90 degrees. The rear of the ship, with the cargo area access hatch. The opening cockpit features a seat for the pilot figure. Two of this part go on either side of the cockpit where the 2 x 2 tiles in yellow are. The sides of the ship open up for easier access to the inside. The pilot of the ship, Snake. Not much is known about him, except he was a member of the Black Hole Gang and his home-world no longer is safe to travel to. The is available to download here. I'm thinking about buying this at the same time as my futuristic house I uploaded, as the same Brick Link seller has most of the parts I don't already have in real life. As usual Comments, Questions, & Complaints are always welcome!

So hope you enjoyed ;) Th3_Br1ck_Kid Oh, and happy April Fool's day XD
  7. NOTE: I have no plans on building this IRL for now, it was just for fun to pass the time. If you want the original Star wars version, see here. This model is a combination of the best parts of sets 8095 and 7565 (both of the sets mentioned are called General Grievous’ Starfighter.) but rendered in orange and white for the Neo Nexus Force. As such, this logo here goes on the nose of the craft. Background info: The ship's name in the Star Wars universe is the "Soulless One", and is General Grievous’ personal vessel in Episode 3 and both the Clone Wars cartoon and mini-series until his death at the hands of a Obi Wan Kenobi, who then "borrowed" the ship and later abandoned it. The ship was later found on a junkyard asteroid by Neo Nexus Force leader Bob, who gave a new paint job to the vessel and rechristened it "Creative One". It serves as Bob's private space vessel when on solo missions and also when the star cruisers Bright Hope and Bright Future are not needed. The ship features a slide open cockpit, which comes with a flight computer. The ship defends itself with four laser cannons mounted near the front by the wings, two per side. I heavily modified the tail, wings, and underside to attach better to the rest of the ship. Also, in case anyone is wondering, the wings and mostly from set 7565 while 98% of the body is from set 8095. The Bob figure is included with the space ship in the LDD file, which is available here. Comments, questions and complaints are always welcome!

  9. Some of you may remember the Vintage Space Memorial I posted a couple months ago. Well, I finally got to take proper pictures of the ship I mentioned in it: the fast space cruiser Andromeda! The ship is loosely based on FX Star Patroller (6931). At least it got a lot of parts from it - and was ironically (and without me even knowing!) build exactly 30 years after the release of the set - quite a happy coincidence. My main goal was building a ship large enough to give it a "proper" space-ship bridge, as you know from TV series like Star Trek. The name of the ship's class is inspired by ther German show Raumpatroullie - Die phantastischen Abenteuer des Raumschiffs Orion (Space Patrol - The fantastic adventures of the space ship Orion), where the designation schneller Raumkreuzer (fast space cruiser), was used. For the future I plan to refit the Andromeda with a small detachable shuttle-craft and improve a few things I am not quite happy with yet. For example I literally ran out of blue bricks! And some more wall-panel computers would be helpful too Anyway. I hope you like my little big spaceship!

    V-RAC Valkyrie

    [MOC] ISV Atalaya

I bet some of you thought I had forgotten about LEGO. Well this proves you wrong. Spent about six hours building this over two days. I've really been wanting to build a nice spaceship after seeing all of the nice STG fighters. It's quite sturdy, and I've had some great swoosh sessions. Also my entry for the Part Challenge. Forward flare shamelessly stolen from Ochre Jelly. Flickr Set June 2014

    [MOC] Small Space Craft

Man, I've been checking out all the LEGO creations made here and there for years, but never really had the inspiration (or funds) to make one up myself until recently. I'm pretty new to this whole MOCing thing (at least on this level). This is a small spacecraft that I made up in LDD a few months ago and have just received the final few pieces I needed to finish up. If any of you experts out there have any advice or critiques, please let me know!

    MOC: Dawnstar - 1st Fleet

First MOC I've posted on these forums, so bear with me. Last year I saw, as I'm sure most of you did, Red Spacecat's USS Saratoga. Link: https://www.flickr.c...cat/8491654079/ Not having built LEGO for some time, I was inspired to build a similar version. I started working on it late August when I found out instructions had been released, thus making my life a lot easier. His inner structure has thus been completely plagiarized in my version, as has the bridge, but the rest is my own imagination. Enjoy! For those of you that like stats, the build took me somewhere in the region of four months to complete, and cost approximately $400 in Bricklink orders before I was satisfied. The element count is, if I recall correctly, just above 4000 pieces. Luckily, most of these are extremely cheap and readily available, meaning I don't have much incentive to disassemble her. I'm quite happy to keep her displayed for years to come.
