  1. I present to you the backbone of the Rebel Alliance – the GR-75 Rebel Transport: After having tweaked and tweaked my last MOC (Medical Frigate) and built a fleet of fighters and smaller ships for it, I wanted to build something bigger - but in the same scale. I chose the beautiful, organic looking 90-meters long, Rebel Transport. The Medical Frigate can be seen here: http://www.eurobrick...pic=129607&st=0 http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=131170 The Transport is the workhorse of the Rebel alliance, transporting equipment from base to base. The ship can house dozens of odd sized containers kept in place by strong magnetic locks. The Transport, like so many other Rebel ships, have a very organic and beat up look – getting this look right was the biggest challenge when designing the moc. The scale of the model is 1: 250 meaning it is built at 2 meters per stud. Thus the Transport is 45 studs long. Building the most detailed 45 stud version of the ship was my main goal. Based on pictures of the movie model I calculated the width and curvature of the ship – I fired up LDD and began building. What I ended up with was an 850+ brick model made up of 150+ brick types: The Transport takes flight! Front view. In this picture the curvature of the ship is very pronounced. To my luck the range of curved bricks fit perfectly with curvature of the ship. When placed along a central spine they further underline the lines the Transport has across the hull. Don’t mind the small hole in the front – one of the hinges is slightly too bent. Top view. I have mostly used white 1 x 4 curved slopes to get the proper shape. However, to get the dirty, rugged look of the ship, I have mixed in a number of different colors and other curved slopes. The Cargo. The GR-75 can carry a LOT of containers. Creating this part of the ship was kind of a chore but also very fun. At this scale I had just enough resolution to attempt recreating every single cargo container and detail from the studio model. I found a picture of the model showing the bottom up and began mapping every container pipe and greeble I could. I recreated it all with bricks of matching colors, pipes, taps and odd shaped pieces. The end result matches the haphazard stacking of the studio model – I’m glad I put the magnetic locks in place… :) Containers from the back. As with the Medical Frigate, one of the challenges was creating a sturdy non-interfering stand. With this ship one of the stands is placed in the middle of the containers. However I did not want to sacrifice even a single compartment so I found a workaround using transparent wall pieces. The slim piece is fitted snugly in between a number of containers and is just connected via two studs – but it seems to hold :) Container close up. They are all there :) Starboard profile view. This angle reveals the slight sloping of the hull towards the rear end of the ship. The curving effect was achieved by a number of plate hinges and four sections with slightly different angles. Port profile view. The profile views show the gap between the top and bottom hull plates. This gap has a jagged effect on the studio model – conveyed here by 1 x 1 and 1 x 2 plates. Side detail. Yes, there is actually detailing in the narrow gap between the hull plates. Again, the greebling is based on looking at the studio model – and on what was possible in such a small area :) Engine view. As always, one of my favorite parts of a ship. Getting all the engines to fit in there was a bit of a challenge. Rear view. As the Transport flies out of focus the uneven surface is again evident. The Transport has a very small command/deflector module - the little thing on top of the spine. To be in scale this module should actually be about half a stud smaller – even smaller than a B-wing cockpit section. However, the 2,5 stud test I did, did not look very good :) Lastly a scale comparison with the Medical Frigate – and the rest of the rebel fleet :) Thanks to all the supporters of the Medical Frigate project, you have helped make this model possible! Everyone can get the LDD for the Rebel Transport here: https://www.dropbox..../GR-75.lxf?dl=0 Enjoy and please comment!
  2. Hello all, I'm having a trouble trying to build a dome on top of an octagonal structure. I don't normally build fully round structures; I've only done one MOC that was round modeled after a skyscraper in Texas (I forgot which city). Since I don''t have much experience with round buildings, I've having an extremely difficult time trying to build a dome top of my structure. I'm trying to make it in LDD as I would in real life but I'm not having any luck. I'm trying to make it look like what I have below but a lot better. Any suggestions or techniques to make this happen?

    [LDD] Agent Coulson's LOLA

I always want a proper model based on Agent Coulson's flying car and fortunately the new Avengers Video Game have a really good looking one. So i decided to build it at least in LDD. The "work" beginned with taking a lot of screenshots from every angle the whole and the exploded car. I'm very happy with the final build and i hope you like it too. Here is the final model and it's LDD: I also built an updated one for better structure in the inside: LDD Update: Added some flying pics:
  5. Hi, i am trying to find a way to build a realistic redwood tree. But i find no way to build a realistic trunk, maybe someone has an advice? it should be round i found some pics in the net but i dont think they build it on the LDD is there someone who knows some tricks or a building instruction? please help me!
  6. Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Pic 6 Album A Lego chess set based on the Nexo Knights theme. Altogether, including parts that aren't available on LDD (8 Scurrier figs and the helmets for the 2 Ash Attackers), this model would add up to 1022 pieces. The base features storage space for the chess pieces themselves, and two modular sections visually based on the good and evil factions in the theme. The board itself is also modular and separates into four 16x16 sections. The two halves of the board can be separated and stacked on top of one another for storage. The chess pieces themselves all have simple yet uniform bases that allow for easy color-coded identification. The "good" Nexo Knight faction features King Halbert (King), Queen Halbert (Queen), two Royal Soldiers (Bishops), two hover horses (Knights), two Nexo Shields (Rooks), and eight King's Squirebots (Pawns). The "evil" Lava Monster faction features Jestro and the Book of Monsters (King), Lavaria (Queen), two Ash Attackers (Bishops), two evil hover horses (Knights), two Shields of Absorption (Rooks) and eight Scurriers (Pawns). I would love to build this physically and/or submit it to Lego Ideas, but am hesitant due to how obvious the idea is. Lego has released many chess sets in the past, most of them based on Castle themes, so chances are Lego is already considering releasing a chess set for the Nexo Knights theme. I would not want to buy all the necessary figs and parts on Bricklink only for Lego to release a similar set on their own!

    0-4-0 Steam Switcher

Hello all! I build mostly City style 6-wide trains. I have been building a lot of trains on LDD recently, and I just joined Eurobricks a couple of weeks ago. So I found this to be the opportune time to share my newest creation. A 0-4-0 Steam Switcher Engine. For the models I've been designing on LDD, I have been using a color scheme of blue with a white stripe. It looks a little cartoony, but until I find a better combo, I'm going to stick with this one. I based it off the countless models of switcher that Lionel likes to do with their O Gauge trains. A rear view of the switcher. It is worth noting that this probably isn't possible to build since I built it in LDD Advanced Edition. Therefore, I could put all the parts in any color I wanted, regardless of if they've even been made in that color. For example, the robot claws on the back of the tender have never actually been made in blue. So if I actually wanted to buy this model, I'd have to use a different color scheme. What little interior i did. If I started building in 8-wide, I probably could get a full cab in, but I'm happy with my 6-wide trains for now. Hopefully the formatting isn't too messed up, since this is only my second post. Here is a download link if anyone wants the LDD file. NOTE: If anyone wants to redesign this model or make it better than it is, I'd love to see it!
  8. Hi. Another effort to build ships from old Sci-Fi shows in LDD - this time I've had a go at building an SA-43 Hammerhead from the under-rated 90's show Space, Above and Beyond. This is the attack jet the marines use against the bad guys. Lots of source material to work from but the below were useful reference pics: And here she is: It's built in DBG but looks more like LBG in the images. I think you can just about see the embedded jet engines/fans in that pic - the "natural light" renders were a bit too dark to see the black turbofans hidden in there until I tweaked the levels and monkeyed around with multiple light sources. The top gun turret rotates/elevates, the nose gun rotates, and the cockpit canopy pivots up around some clips at the front for the pilot. Front view: Top-down view: Obligatory 360 spin-o-tron view: With my MOC experience I couldn't get all the angles and curves to work in this minifig-scale, so it's a bit chunkier/stubbier than the reference images but I think it's a fair approximation that captures the spirit. Good enough for version 0.1... I wasn't able to get the cockpit unit to fully separate like in the pre-launch/post-landing sequences they had on the show. I thought that was a cool idea but couldn't make it work smoothly enough in the size I was aiming for while being a self-contained unit, so ditched that concept. I also left out landing gear - still have a lot to learn about building that... It's much better looking in flying mode for display, anyway! And for anyone who's curious, the LDD file is here. No clues how well it'll hold together in bricks, but I think everything should be able to bear the weight... Now to find some other obscure space-junk to build...
  9. Hello all Eurobrickers! Today is a great day for the community as a MOC is making its long awaited release to the public! That's right, Mortesv's UCS-Scale Nebulon-B Medical Frigate now has plans ready for purchase The purchase of these plans includes a professional grade manual totaling at 1,493 pages, the LDD files used to create the manual, an excel spreadsheet covering the 531 unique parts lot and their quantity, and a bonus LDD file that contains to scale models of fighter ships to put next to Nebulon when it is on display! So to recap, a purchase of these plans includes the original LDD files, a 1,493 page instruction manual, an excel spreadsheet parts list, and a bonus LDD file with to-scale fighters. The final price for this awesome bundle is 50 U.S Dollars ($50). If you are interested in purchasing a copy, please PM me or send an email to chrdvorak@hotmail.com The final MOC contains 5,728 pieces, which would make it the largest Lego Star Wars set if it were released on shelves. The ship measures about 4 feet long when completed! A lot of hard work went into this project on both the designing end and the manual end, and Mortesv and I are very excited to give everyone the chance to build this awesome MOC! Here are some images from the manual: May the force be with you and happy building!!!
  10. A revamped version with new elements from the latest LDD parts update! I especially like the SNOT portion of the roof's front section and the improved tail lights!
  11. Thanks to some new elements, I've built a small handy trailer for carrying extra cargo or gardening tools to be towed by that Mini Cooper!

    Some steampunk stuff

Hi all ! Here's something i've been working on for the past couple of days, and i wanted to show you some lil' preview. Yeah, you can cal that teasing ! All in LDD right now, as i'm unemployed i got some spare time, but i'm also running extra low on cash so can't buy parts for now. But they'll sur be build, as i've the idea of a complete universe ( cars, town parts, modular homes, ... ) Sorry for the LDD pics, but the rendering technique of mecabricks/blender don't work as some parts aren't available on mecabricks, gotta have povray. Here is a range of cars/"motorcycles" and a huge machine. More to come when i'll find the way to build them. I tried to make those, like my funicular, as realistic as possible yet steampunkish, with gears/engines/boilers/etc. They are minifig scale, width wise, but must be longer than what may be usual ... The huge machine is the road maker, sent where there's no path for cars to make some. I'll do some detailed pics of every one of course AS always, comments and critics are appreciated ! Hope you like it
  13. The capture of the Bonnie Lass by Montgomery DuLac's Night's Gold was a surprise to many, especially DuLac himself, who had no particular interest in owning the warship, nor the crew for a ship twice the size of his own. A few days in port, and with repairs to both ships underway, DuLac encountered an old frenemy: Elspeth Harrow. Miss Harrow was in the market for a ship, and so ownership quickly changed hands again. Now-Captain Harrow immediately set about gathering a crew of her own. She found time to get the ship blessed by a priest of the Lord of Deep Waters, and rechristened the ship Maiden of the Deep. At dusk the next day Harrow set sail with a ship full of battle-ready sailors and marines. As for DuLac and his crew, well, that many doubloons bought many a drink before they too set sail. I tried a few new things on this. The hull design was inspired by Hass Kabal's Jackdaw project over in Pirate MOCs. Not entirely convinced by the sails, but I wanted to get this posted up. I may post the alternate, sail-less version later, possibly with some crew (and a hatch to the lower decks added - the things you only realise you missed after uploading the pics). The cabin sides are hinged to open outwards, though I've yet to fully furnish the interiors. Not sure how viable this would be as an actual build; the interior is quite hollow and lacking in structural supports because I was lazy and more concerned with the outward appearance. And I just realised I forgot the rudder... more pics later, it looks.

  15. Hello again, oh wait, that's ahoy again, of course! Today, another ship for the ever growing Oleander fleet. Proudly presenting: The 'Infatigable' Infatigable's keel was laid down four months ago in the smaller of the two 'Pontaniou' basins in Quilbignon, right next to La Recouvrance. But as the latter was launched shortly after, work on Infatigable was interrupted due to a shortage of timber after hurricanes Hilda and Stepho had devastated large parts of New Terra, as especially Le Bellan was in dire need of construction material. But work was resumed in April, and now she was finally launched and immediately attached to the New Terra Fleet. Infatigable is the fastest warship ever constructed in the Royal Shipyards in Quilbignon - a schooner, fast, agile, and equipped with sixteen 12-pounder long guns - lead-ship of her class, a majestic sight. She's on her way to Breshaun now, ready to indefatigably pursue her adversaries, and to enforce Oleon's rule wherever needed. about: Like most of my ships, Infatigable started with a look at the ship classification chart, as I needed ideas for a 5A1. But finding examples for large schooners of war turned out quite a quest. In fact I didn't find any reference ship that would be larger than a brig, but smaller than a corvette, so this is more of a fantasy ship. But nonetheless, Infatigable is easily one of my favorite ships so far. I'm really happy with her hull, which took me quite long to shape. As I wanted to build her as low as possible, I 'cut off' plate by plate, changing her base several times, until reaching what I think is a minimum height for me on this build. Again, she's a flush deck ship with no cabin box - just like Gladiateur - but I hope her side galleries being ornate blinds is presented better here. Some numbers: the length on her waterline is 88 studs, length over all is 116 studs, and her beam measures 21 studs. As always, she's buildable, and with proper rigging and some flex tubes support her mast should carry the weight of her huge sails IRL... but then, I won't build her Thanks for watching C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

    [OL - FB3] The 'Gladiateur'

Ahoy ya scurvy sea dogs, Another day - another ship, this time: The 'Gladiateur' Gladiateur is a veteran brig of war, built for La Royale about a half a decade ago by the Royal Shipyards in Quilbignon. For most of her service life she was stationed in New Oleon, but now the Admiralty has decided to assign her to the New Terra Fleet. In preparation for this, she recently underwent an extended overhaul, during which her hull was structurally improved, and she received an armament of sixteen 12-pounder long guns. Experienced and well armed, Gladiateur is now entering the arena that is the Eastern Brick Seas, ready to strike devastating blows to her adversaries. And in comparison to the IFS: about: Yes, those really are prefabs! Well, in fact only the upper bow/stern elements are, the rest of the hull is made of curved slopes. Gladiateur is based on an older design, but being sort of the only of my prefab ships, that I really liked, I thought she'd deserve her place here in BoBS, and renewed her. Gladiateur is no spectacular ship, but she's a fighting workhorse, right what's needed on the waves these days - I hope you can like her despite her simplicity. C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

    [OL - FB2] 'Le Protecteur'

Ahoy, laddies! As the Lord Chancellor said, there will be ships. But let's start small, shall we? Presenting: 'Le Protecteur' Being a light topsail schooner, agile and with a shallow draft, Le Protecteur excels at patrol duty in difficult waters, anti pirates sweeps, and reconnaissance missions, freeing La Royale's much needed heavy hitters for more challenging ventures. Crewed by experienced men, and captained by an able sea dog Le Protecteur will surely master the tasks ahead of her. about: Some of you might have recognized the resemblance to La Recouvrance. That's no coincidence. But Le Protecteur was in fact the ship to be launched first, and La Recouvrance was modeled only afterwards. I just never came around to post the ship, and the actual need to do so only arose... well, recently. As always, all can be built. And for quite some time I did have an urge to really build this ship... but then other ships happened Just FYI, her length at the waterline is 57 studs, LOA is 85, and she's 18 studs wide. For now she'll be a class 3A, let's see if that changes with the next ship list. C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!

  20. Ahoy mateys, what a busy short month this is, so let's get straight to it: Drastic Measures - Part I Looking from the balcony, his eyes wandered from ship to ship. The Secrétaire d'Etat de la Marine was in no good mood. Although Quilbignon was as busy a port as never before, and despite the fact that the latest shipping numbers had skyrocketed, the depleted fleet was all he could think of. "Something needs to be done about this!", he mumbled into the gentle spring air. "Have this letter delivered to our embassador to Namere! They aren't going to like it, but neither do I." He was still outraged. The Commerce de Breshaun and the Scimitar, both ships had been captured by privateers coming from Namere, as several reports suggested. "Oleon has no quarrel with Namere", he thought "so why in the Brick Seas would they prey on our merchants?! Was it really them? Was it a misunderstanding - or a prelude to open war?" He didn't have an answer - which didn't help his bad mood. "And have my carriage readied! I need to get to Granoleon." The Secrétaire hesitated, weighing his words. "I have a proposal for the Lord Chancellor, that he might not like." "Oh, and before I forget", he continued "Have this here brought to the captain of The Galaxie!" "What is it, Sir?", his adjutant asked. The Secrétaire turned to the window and looked over the port again. "Orders. And a promotion." about: This is a story build to kick off some things. Building wise there's not much to it, lots of work, but in the end 'only' some recycled ideas and repetition. I hope Dukesc's The Galaxie is recognizable. And if you add some minifig hands to those flex hoses used on both ships, all is buildable - they just don't come in LDD. Stay tuned for more C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!
  21. I'm currently working on a Modular Hospital MOC in LDD. These are the results so far (rendered using BlueRender): Birds perspective: Front view: Inside view: About the model: The lower right wing will be a garage for an ambulance (hence the barrier on the sidewalk). On the opposite side, lower left, there is a gift shop with flowers, balloons and a teddy bear. Across the gift shop will be room for an elevator. At the main entrance (those are sliding doors) there is a reception/desk. The second floor contains a room with two hospital beds (one currently containing a patient). In the other wing an operation room is situated along with minifigs of a surgeon and a patient. The rest of the second floor I don't have planned yet! I'd like to hear your thoughts and comments Also, first post here! YAY!

    Luke Skywalker Lightsabre

Hi all, This is my Luke Skywalker lightsabre project: the copy of lightsabre used in StarWars ep.VI ( my favourite episode of the series ). I published this in Lego ideas with two version of the stand: white/tan and black/light green: this is my favourite version. I made it with LDD and rendered with blurender so i don't know if this is the right place where to post. I hope you Like it:
