Hey everybody, this is my last build of the year and the last one for at least a few months as I've said in my flickr account a few days before I'll be moving to Billund on January. This build was actually started a few months ago but I never got the chance to finish it until now. And as I got a big chunk of my collection unsorted and my time is very limited right now, I didn't manage to get the results I wanted. Do people outside of the US even know of (and like) the movie "A Christmas Story"?

Well it is now officially the start of the Christmas season, and my latest creation is the house from the movie "A Christmas Story". In the States, this movie is iconic. So much so that it runs 24 hours straight on Christmas Eve on a particular channel, and the actual house where the movie was filmed was turned into a museum and gets 10s of thousands of visitors every year. However, it dawned on me that Lego fans outside of America may not even know about this movie. Thus, I figured that Eurobricks was probably the best place to get some perspective. Any feedback that you can provide would be great. Just a little about the model itself... I have an 8 year-old, and I really wanted it to be playable for her. Thus, it is modular where the second story and roof can be removed, and it fits fully on a 32x32 baseplate (actually two white 16x32 plates to be exact). Many of the movie scenes were shot in a studio, so the interior layout is based on a mix of the film and the actual house (in Cleveland, Ohio). It was created 100% percent with bricks that I had or was able to procure from bricklink, so there are no custom bricks. I was even able to find a tile with a "FRAGILE" sticker on it! To distinctly set it apart from other Lego houses, I added snow in a unique way to the roof and ground. The most fun feature that I was able to recreate was the famous leg lamp from the film using a Lego light brick above it so that it can be turned on. Anyway, if people outside of the US don't really know about the movie, then I guess those details would be lost. Just looking for some feedback and perspective (mostly from non-Americans, but anyone can feel free to weigh in). The landscape for this scene was built as a commission, and then I finished the build by adding some houses, the fences, and figure activity. After learning that medieval roads often had fences or walls to allow animals to be moved effectively, I wanted to include that detail here. Brother Steven inspired the woodwork on the water mill. This is an entry into the large miscellaneous category of the Colossal Castle Contest. Market day makes for a lot of traffic on the village road as animals are taken to be sold, or purchased and brought home. The watermill is also a popular location as villagers purchase flour and bring grain to be ground. As usual, there are more pictures on brickbuilt. Your feedback is always welcome

I have fond memories of listening to Harold Engel’s “A Child’s Christmas in Scarborough” on the CBC while travelling to relatives during the holiday season. His irreverent Canadian take on the Dylan Thomas classic poem made the long car rides almost enjoyable. I have tried to create a Lego MOC inspired by being a kid in Eastern Ontario over the holiday season. Some other inspirations are the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, the film “A Christmas Story” and of course the annual Doctor Who Christmas special (Fezzes are cool!). Gallagher House (1885) in Newboro, Ontario, which has an amazing slate roof. For modular purists there are no interior stairs, which would have taken up a lot of interior space and I wanted to fill with holdiay/family scenes instead, so teleportation it is (at least they could use the Tardis). The artwork in the artist studio is a copy of the Group of Seven artist Lawren Harris’ “Pine Tree and Red House, Winter City Painting II" (1924). The bridge is inspired by the stone bridge in Lyndhurst which is the oldest bridge in Ontario, built in 1856/1857, and is still in use today. Hello everyone, today i want you to show my latest creation. I call it "Miami Surf Shop". ;) I tried to create a modern style Miami building, inspired by some pictures i found on Google. Some details: Parts: 1740 mostly Created on Lego Designer 4.3 and all parts ordered on Bricklink. It takes 13 orders to complete the parts.

I'd like to present to you my latest creation that is the Modular Palm House: This build took me somewhat under two months to complete (evenings only, of course). What I wanted to achieve was to capture some of the XIX and early XX century architecture. I hope I was able to represent neoclassical style well. If you can help me with some comments regarding this, I would be grateful. I am not an architect myself, this was just me feeling that it should look more or less like it. Another thing that I had in mind was to create such shape of the building that was not done before. I know this is hard to do and there is probably someone that did this before, but at least I don't know any. This shape gave me some headache with the roof - there was simply nothing that really fitted well. Eventually I came up with glass roof which I like. I had also some other problems with those walls - stability. The only place where this is fixed well is the place where it connects to solid walls. The central piece sits on a 2x2 turntable, windowed walls don't connect to baseplate at all. Not too comfortable to build or transport. The mosaic was done first in MLCad, then recreated in brick. Otherwise I would have some serious troubles doing that right ;) Now, the reason this build is a modular is because of connection standards that it has, as well as the sidewalk. Other that it only has removable roof and one, big module: Here it the mosaic wall as seen from the outside: And the other wall covered in ivy: As could be seen from the "modules" picture, the interior consists of an island that is covered by exotic plants for minifigs to enjoy, there is a pathway around it, as well as ticket office (is that correct word for it?). Another contribution to the Ye Old Merry Battleground display. I had a lot of fun with this build, using tan and dark bley together, along with the red and dark red as accents. It seemed to fit Kaliphlin well, so here it is. I'll be posting my other YOMB builds in the Historic Themes soon. Ellena’s bakery is well known for her delicious pies, breads, and other baked goods. These were my contributions to the Ye Old Merry Battleground layout at BFVA. The Vermillion realm (red) and the Cerulean realm (blue) are at war! The land's greatest heroes go head to head in many epic battles where breaches are made on both sides. The forest men who dwell outside of the two realms' protection acted upon the war's opportunity and planned their own schemes for riches. The fourth module in my large collab with John. See the others, 1st, 2nd, 3rd. As you might guess, this module will connect with the Paddock module, and the previous gatehouse. All of the buildings have full interiors and working doors. The farmhouse itself was inspired by Derfel Cadarn. Nordheim farms often include a small stone cottage. And the main gatehouse sees plenty of traffic as people travel to and from the city, and merchants deliver their wares. See more pictures on brickbuilt. C&C welcome

The third module of a large collab build that Isaac and I are building for Brickfair, Virginia. First module, second module. We’ll be posting one new module a week. The harbor-master’s house and tower both have full interiors. The tower is only one half of the gatehouse, which is why the arch has nothing on top of it. The harbor-master’s house sits in the corner of the Nordheim Docks, and all incoming traffic is registered there. The winter lull gives the harbor-master plenty of time to catch up on his records, inside his cozy home. I tried to make the visual style similiar to the style I have seen in the Donald Duck comics I read during the 80s. The car is up as an LEGO Ideas-project, so I would appreciate if you had a look at that as well and gave it your support.

This is the third of 4 micros I built as prizes for the Guild Creation category of the Summer Joust. This particular model was focused on a city of Rauor. You can see the first and the second builds already. Rauor is just a fictional land I made up, and tried to develop the culture and setting of with these 4 micro builds, the rest of which will be posted soon. C&C welcome

Hi everyone! This is my entry for the Dream Home LDD Contest - Free Build Although I'm a software engineer by education, I dabble in architecture and interior design as a hobby here and there. This house is a concept i've had in my head for some time and it represents a dream home for me. In my vision, this house is placed on the edge of a cliff, the living room and bedroom areas are suspended over the abyss and held by columns. Imagine waking up in such a room to an unobscured view of surrounding hills and forests. The house is an open space, without doors (except on the bathroom :) ), rooms separated only by wall panels. Walls are made of brick and glass, and the floors, including the terrace, are teak. In current state, it is basically a bachelor pad :) There's a garage, a living room, bedroom and bathroom. No kitchen at the moment (although i enjoy cooking), so I guess there would be a lot of eating out :) On with the pics: The "squareness" of the house is broken by the curved bathroom wall What good is a bachelor pad without a nice porsche in the garage? :) Rare sight in a men's bedroom - a made bed :) Who can guess the lego set on the shelf? (not a tough question, I'm sure) I hope you enjoyed the presentation, it was really fun and exciting for me to materialize something I imagined for so long. Hi all, Back with my second MOC after some weeks of buying bricks, thinking, scetching, scratching my head, building and buying more bricks. Scorpion house is a modern hillside villa overlooking a lake. Partly built into a rocky terrain it features four levels. The house is designed with basically six boxes of different sizes in just black and white. I do like such designs a lot, so the second proper MOC had to be such a design as well. Initially I wanted to build something rather extreme in terms of technique, based on the design ideas in this house from swiss architect Andre Treina. http://www.schoener-...g-haus-am-hang. I saved that for later with all those angles and massive height. The idea which I finally kept, still stretching my design and lego capabilities, is a house built for a car lover (personally I'm not ;-)) on a hillside terrain and several boxes with concrete and glass. The glass front faces the lake and provides spectacular views, especially from second and third level. The back of the house includes much less windows as it faces a steeper hill. The owners had ordered the garage door in Ferrari red as they own an Italia GT2 model, which is driven mostly by the wife. The main entrance connects to the house with a six stud wide corridor or tunnel to the main building. The beloved car can be seen through large glas windows walking through the corridor (and also top windows next to the swimming pool). The garage provides a small service access for the pumps and pipes of the pool. At the end of the entrance corridor stairs lead up to the first level. Turning right either leads up to the second level or two steps down to the kitchen and eating area. Glas doors open to the swimming pool and (way too small!) front garden on top of the garage. The roof is with glas elements just over the bathroom area to provide natural light. Yes, the sauna provides stunning views through a large glas window over the lake. The owners are aware that they could be seen from the street. Those who prefer a different layout may turn the whole left box into staircases or assume the owners use their swimwear (what a sin). The second level also contains the living room, again with stunning views over the lake, the master bedroom and a room for the child. The master bedroom has a glass roof as well to watch the stairs while lying in bed. Access to the third top level is via spiral stairs. As a hommage to his favorite football/soccer club, the color scheme of the studio is again black and yellow. I'm reasonably pleased with the overall design and shape of the house itself, architecual effects with technic bricks are more reduced this time. I need to think of a way to improve the actual terrain and don't like that it looks a bit packed. I'm also not too happy with the rocks which I wanted to do a bit larger and with a stronger influence on the shape of the terrain, also extending behind the house on the left side, almost reaching into the pool etc. Maybe next time. I also find it difficult to do proper pictures. Comments and critique very welcome!

Hi everyone! If you recall the memories about my older buildings (Snack Bar, Airport Control Tower, Floriculture), you may realise, that all of them had a very detailed interior, and it was more attractive, than the exterior. Now I tried to create a building with a highly detailed overall look. And it has no interior, because I had to use the space inside for building different things, which keep the door, the windows and the chimney. After some brainstorming I found out, that I make something in the style of the old Hungarian railway buildings. There are a lot of interesting challenges at this topic. Stations, sheds, water houses, warehouses, etc. Finally I decided to build the wathman's house, because it is the smallest, and this size is still okay for my budget :) The next picture shows the house with my Siemens Taurus. Not exactly the same era - totally different :D but I think they look cool together! The pictures below show a lot of interesting things around the house, after them you can see the building tricks I used in or on the house. I'm really proud of two things. The first is the white MÁV (hungarian railway company) fence. It is possible to find it almost everywhere (picture of the real one). My Lego version is not perfect, a little bit different from the real one, but I guess, I cant do it better with Lego bricks. The fence is modular, and only the gravity holds it. Basic rule of Lego is 2 studs = 5 plates. It is not true. Theoretically it is possible to make an endless fence, but the truth is that only these five moduls are enough to create an ugly difference between the basement and the fence The second is the two bushes. They are also held by the gravity. I used this and this elements to create them. Furthermore there is an outhouse and a garden shower in the courtyard. Another interesting thing is the roof. I always used platebuilt roofs with hinges, but it is possible to create only a few angles with them, whithout a gap at the top, between the two half. But now I found out this new technique with technic pieces. More pictures are on MOCpages! Thanks for visiting!

Here's my Phase 1 build for the storehouse category in Age of Mitgardia. I limited myself to an 8x8 base size for this build, and was mainly trying to make a realistic looking cellar entrance. Fruit cellars are commonly used in Mitgardia to store food, and other goods. My story For this modular (creator) building was that the Boat Repair Shop is based for a creation to fit in the Sea front Village. I built this one on Lego Digital Designer (LDD). I really believe that this model could have a lot of genuine interest for fans of my Sea front Village sets. This is the second of a series of modular (creator} buildings that I will be submitting. I used the colors sand yellow and olive green for the building that gives it a realistic feeling. And Siding technique for the clapboards. The roof just sits on the recess so it’s easy to take of and put on.
