Hola, I'm a new member, but have been lurking for many years. At the moment I'm working on a classic themed Lego town in our guest room/my Lego room. I want it too look very 80's and early 90's, because that was the era when I was a kid (I was born in 1981). But I want it to have new features also, so it feels like a town that's been around for some time, with different layers of time periods just like a real town. Soltown has an airport, two train stations, a medieval castle that attracts tourist, lots of policemen since it's a bit of a dictatorship, a harbor and so on. You'll see most of it in my shaky youtube video ... Here's the link It's still under construction. I think it will be finished in late August, because I'm going away on vacation. If you search for the hashtag #lego on instagram, you will probably see some more pics of the different stuff that's going on in Soltown. Anyways, I'm so inspired by all the cool MOCs your posting here, so I hope I can contribute some myself to this great community. Here's a pic of how Soltown looked a couple of weeks ago, but in the youtube video you'll see a lot of changes (I've removed the train yard because I wanted a more compact town)

Hi all, I would just like to start this thread to see what the general feeling is with regards to LED lighting in city/town vehicles and streets. Basically what would like to see in a city rescue vehicle? Would you like flashing lights on the top of the police/fire/ambulance/rescue vehicle and headlight/tail lights that stay on and would you want the LEDs to be controlled from a remote or just switched on/off on the vehicle? Likewise with street lighting. What would you want from LED lamp posts? I'm opening this discussion after seeing this video and wondering how popular this would be and if it was commercially available would you buy it? Many thanks Happy Building Neil

Finally a new hotel to go into the town of New Mannum......though I haven't made a street for this yet so posting it separately from my NM topic. I only have to find some glass doors for the cabinets and the hotel is completed......keep watching !

Ok eurobricks I need your help! Recently I bought a green baseplate to build a town on. So far I have a coffee shop, a park and road/sidewalk. But I have no idea what kind of stores to build! Would love some help and pictures of what they would sell, etc. for example if it was a tool shop a picture of like a power tool you made. thanks in advance! -Lazorapple

Hi all! JUST WANTED TO QUICKLY SHOW YOU ALL… oh geez, caps lock… ahem…. Just wanted to quickly show you all my bakery, THE place to get your cookies, cakes, jams and breads in my town. I've just rebuild it seeing as I wasn't completely happy with the previous one. In advance I apologize for the quality of the photos, I don't have a good camera. So here we go! The (to me) most important part is the bakery shop of course. I'm gonna order new (non-scratched) transparent curved panels to replace the ones in this window. Lots of shades of browns in here! Stuck a pretzel to the sign with a piece of tape, but just temporarily; I hope to find a nice sticker to take its place soon. I love how the table of homemade jams turned out! The top of the building has a heavy, almost gothic feel to it, with dark colors and lots of ornaments. The roof is based on Dutch stepped gables. Inside the bakery we have lots of baked goods on display, and a semi-open kitchen with a large oven and everything the baker needs to create his delicious plastic goodies. There is a restroom under the stairs. Upstairs is the apartment. First we have the kitchen and lounge. Second is a kids room and bathroom. Top floor is the main bedroom, with a balcony. I'd like to take you to another stop in my burgeoning modular LEGO city! Today's visit is to the Octopus Japanese Restaurant, where minifigs flock for authentic Asian cuisine! Here's Octopus! The torii and rock garden help to allure hungry diners to the restaurant. If you're in the mood for sushi or hibachi, you've arrived at the right place. Around back, we can see the open air dining area. A closeup view of the dining area in the back of the restaurant. Now for a look inside! Here's the ground floor. The sushi bar is to the right, with a casual dining area to the left. Another look at the ground floor. There's a sink in the prep area near the sushi bar, some decorative items on the wall, and a restroom under the stairs. One of the most alluring aspects of the ground floor is the large aquarium, dividing the sushi bar and table settings and giving the restaurant a calm atmosphere. There's even a light feature in the aquarium to further enhance the experience. Here's a look at the bathroom. It's a small space but it has what's necessary. But now, let's travel up the stairs to the next floor: The next level has two hibachi tables. The hibachi is very popular for large parties and business meetings. The chefs are very skilled and put on a highly entertaining show. To the right, another chef prepares food for preparation at the table. Some friends are enjoying sake and miso soup before their entree is served. Swinging doors separate the kitchen area from the patrons in the main dining area. And now, let's go up one final flight of stairs, which really picks up after hours: The top floor contains a karaoke bar and lounge! Patrons sing their hearts out to their favorite songs, but occasionally a professional entertainer puts on her kimono for a performance on selected nights. Dark curtains help keep an ambient vibe and another aquarium and flowers keep the patrons happy. And for musical accompaniment, a full sized piano sits on the stage. Hey all! First time I'm posting a MOC! I don't have a good camera, so I made the pics with my phone. Forgive me! I wanna show you my grocery store. It's a small corner building in dark colors (mostly black, dark red and dark green). On the outside there are crates of fruits and vegetables, a tree pushing up the stones of the sidewalk, a dumpster around the corner, Chase McCain on patrol, and the entrances to the shop and the apartment above. The roof plates will be replaced with a darker color, I was thinking dark brown or dark gray, but Kristel's suggestion of dark green got me thinking ;) Inside the shop there are stocked shelves, a counter with a scale and a busy shop owner. What you can't see is the refrigerated area across from the counter and the restroom underneath the stairs behind the counter (even though the toilet is basically invisible, I want my buildings to be functional, and a place for the shop owner to lay a brick [badum tsh] is part of that) When we go upstairs, there's an apartment. First level is the kitchen (with toilet and laundry room), second the living room, and third the bedroom and bathroom with a small balcony. I hope y'all like it! What ? A modular from LT ? Yes, it's an Octan Rural office and store. I should of said picture heavy I guess but you can see the two sections that come away so repairs or minifig positioning can be done. Any comments and questions feel free to post them.

Hello, fellow Eurobrickers! You may or may not have seen some builds from my Updated Classics project that I've been working on, on and off, for a couple of years now: Modern 6624 1 by L@go, on Flickr Modern 6651 11 by L@go, on Flickr Modern 6653 8 by L@go, on Flickr Modern 6661 1 by L@go, on Flickr Hot Rod Clubhouse 16 on Flickr Modern 6694 15 by L@go, on Flickr As you can see, I've only had a go at one building so far, the Hot Rod clubhouse (which wasn't really much of a building in the first place). But my intention is to eventually develop this project into a layout of sorts, and then I need something more substantial than cars. So I decided to have a go at the classic set #675, the Snack Bar, which I owned as a kid. The white and blue colours of the original set have always appealed to me, and during the Eurobricks Event in Billund I got a chance to relive the feeling of holding the brand new, unopened box in my hands when we were allowed to visit the Vault :) I set myself a few goals with this build: I wanted to make it compatible with a modular street layout; I wanted it to fit in, architecturally, with my gas station; I obviously wanted it to be bigger, more modern and more detailed, while still keeping the iconic details of the original... and I wanted to replace that old-fashioned moulded pine tree with something more realistic, so I gave my friend and fellow Eurobricks member Marco('Ecclesiastes) the challenge of shrinking his fantastic tree design down to fit within a 9x9 footprint. He came through - more about that later :) So this is what I ended up with - built on a 16x32 base, it will go nicely with a modular layout if you add another 16x32 plate behind it, with, say, a few picnic tables and some more of those lovely trees, or something like that. I'm quite happy with how it turned out: Snack Bar 1 by L@go, on Flickr Snack Bar 4 by L@go, on Flickr On to the details - and let's start with that wonderful tree. Marco's pine trees are the best trees I've ever seen anybody build out of LEGO, so he was the obvious person to turn to for this. He applied his fantastic building skills to the task of shrinking the mammoth trees down into something that wouldn't dwarf my snack bar, and then brought a few different trees to the Eurobricks Event in Billund for me to choose from. This one was his own favourite, and who am I to argue? Snack Bar 7 by L@go, on Flickr If I'm not too badly mistaken, Marco will post some detail shots of his own soon - probably over in the Historic Themes section, where he normally resides. Snack Bar 8 by L@go, on Flickr I wanted to have a small round window on this wall to match the rounded edges of the roof and the arched opening on the facade, and it ended up like this. The upside-down arch that makes up the bottom part of the window frame is connected to the rest of the wall using those bars and clips that double as a downspout. I was originally planning on solving the SNOT challenge with some old-fashioned finger hinges, but the ones I had were yellowed, and they would have been much more visible in the wall than a couple of tiles. This design is less obvious and just as sturdy. Snack Bar 9 by L@go, on Flickr During the Updated Classics project, I've had to acquire unused stickers from very old sets, which can be a bit difficult. This is the oldest set I've revisited, and while it doesn't have stickers, it has what could potentially be an even bigger challenge: White, printed bricks. I knew I needed an original 1x8 "SNACK BAR" brick, and I assumed finding one that wasn't yellowed and still looked fresh would be a big problem - but I bought the most expensive one I could find on BrickLink, at a whopping 4€ (...) and quite simply hit the jackpot. It doesn't appear used at all - it's still sparkling white, has absolutely no nicks and the print doesn't have a single scratch. Quite incredible for a 35-year-old brick, if you ask me... Snack Bar 12 by L@go, on Flickr The snack bar's owner has an unwelcome tenant underneath the wooden decking... Snack Bar 16 by L@go, on Flickr Snack Bar 19 by L@go, on Flickr The interior is a bit more detailed than the original set's. There's a small table fixed to the rear wall; a sink with a soap dispenser and a towel; a fridge with... well, food; a microwave oven in the corner; a second fridge for fizzy drinks and fruit juice; an oven and a cash register underneath the counter; and ketchup, mustard and other condiments on the rotating plate on the counter edge. On the counter itself, waiting for hungry customers: An ice cream cone, a hot dog, and, not least: The World's Biggest Hamburger. The price? 100, of course. Everything's 100. Snack Bar 20 by L@go, on Flickr The owner and customer are updated versions of the ones in the original set. As you can see, they've 'aged' gracefully. And the customer comes armed with... 100! I'm not sure whether this qualifies as a Mod or a MOC. I guess it's both. The exterior is an expansion/re-imagining of 10228. I used the same window design but with a 1/2 stud offset to give the windows a lower profile. Most of the design cues from 10228 have been carried over as well. I also added a bay window on the right and a two story set of bay windows on the left side of the house as well as a second chimney. The house is built in the modular style and will eventually have a fully detailed interior. I will update with more pictures as I complete more of the house. The parlour is nearly done and most of the first floor is in progress - waiting on some pieces. This is the biggest (and most expensive!) project I've attempted and I have big plans for this project, beyond just the interior and exterior. Other images available here.

[pid][/pid] 251C Ahoy, I was interested in building a harbour scene using a good old raised baseplate. Unfortunately you cannot see a lot of the harbour but for some bits of water in the middle, but I am quite happy with the way the buildings have turned out: The whole set is modular (which I have forgotten to prove by taking the appropriate pictures ). At the back side I have allowed for a cross-section approach to the buildings to allow for access and playability: Ok - Sebeus I : this was not the harbour scene I am working on. And the next post should be a ship again.

I've had this MOC done for a while now (the first thing I've finished building in a very long time) but hadn't gotten around to posting it yet because I was very busy with my college work. However, now that it's summer, I'm finally getting around to it! It feels good to have some more time to give to Eurobricks again. Anyway, here it is, Brickington Center Station. This station located at the heart of downtown is perfect for hopping on a train that can bring you anywhere you need to go in the city. I just needed a house for my exhibition project Dunholm. So i startet and... just have a look: Frontview. There are the kinds of roof technique. Hi everyone, here is my latest creation De Luca's menswear! It is a 4 storey building with a store for stylish menswear on the ground floor and several apartments in the floors above. It fits exactly onto two 32x32 baseplates. I wanted to see how interesting I could make a predominantly grey based fascia as I have done mainly white/tan facades most recently. I figured enough texture and occasional colouring could bring it to life. I also wanted to experiment with an idea I had to make a different shape of apartment by hinging the bedrooms for access. It's pretty sturdy with a couple of hinges per wall for reinforcement but it did limit the colour palette slightly. Sadly no bathrooms this time but thought the spacing and shape would allow for kitchens easily enough. The building is based in the early 1960's for reference. I wanted to make furniture from a different era than I usually do. The vehicle is an American style sedan. It took a lot of fiddling to get the rear wheel arch to line up perfectly! I couldn't quite get good light for pics of the bedroom interiors so ill probably post all the furniture separately in the future. Comments and questions welcomed! I've been thinking of using those newer, dark bley road baseplates that are more in place with the newer, modern buildings like City, but the straight ones go for like, £5 a piece on Bricklink. Where can I get these baseplates for cheap?

I wanted to add some extra shapes to my city buildings and prefer a modern style of building rather than the more tradtional. I see some nice round office blocks on my daily drive so thought I would try and replicate that. I would have preferred to have a completely mirrored glass exterior, but Lego just doesn't make those pieces, so this is what I came up with. Unlike my normal builds, it is not modular, it would lose all it's strength to be able to separate it easily. It does have two internal floors though which can be removed, which I will build onto so the building isn't empty. The middle floor is trapped in though, as the cross beam support for the floor above it (and for wall integrity) means I can't actually get it out. I have placed my extended GE on one side and modified Pet Shop on the other for comparison, I still haven't worked out where this will go in my City. I don't have my display tables at the moment, but once I get them back I will work something out. As always, comments and ideas for improvement are greatly appreciated

Final touches are going into NM, I changed a few things on the inside of my latest version of my Landmark merchandise store. In the last shot you can see a shearing set up on the wall along with a huge coil of wire fencing. Keep watching !
