Sweets & Co. | Beautiful Modular

Vote this bad boy in: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/165581 Please! My fifth attempt on building the best modular building I could. This time, a corner building, with a huge diagonal façade, and two very easily differentiated buildings: one royal blue and aqua with 1x1 tiles sticked on the wall and the other white, royal blue and teal. You can probably see this, but this was done in the purpose of it being hyper-ultra-mega colorful. Crafted with 2994 bricks, and includes 5 minifigures. I'm pretty sure it would stand about 30-32cm tall (12-12'5 inches). Some more images: Close up of white/teal façade. Notice the nice tree, and sculpture design on top of the building. The other façade. Beautiful gradient upwards! My whole collection. Kinda shocking how earthy the ones on the right look, and how happy the ones on the left look! Hope to see you sometime soon on my project's comment section and supporter list!
  2. Hi there! I thought I'd start this thread because I figured we all have ideas of BrickHeadz we'd like to see made. Especially with the tease of getting BrickHeadz from TV shows! I personally would love to see some BrickHeadz based on the new POTC movie! Maybe some Minecraft BrickHeadz as well. But with the TV shows idea some Flarrowverse BrickHeadz would be incredible! Anyways there you go, fire off your ideas!

I've seen numerous builders who have a unique body of original work and I was wondering where you guys get inspiration from. I've noticed most of them are Castle and Sci-Fi based however is there anything specific that inspires your MOC's? At the end of 2016 I was reviewing my LEGO creation’s and I noticed the lack of innovative and original ideas, most of them are recreations and explorations of existing intellectual properties. Feedback and criticism is much appreciated. My LEGO Creation’s - www.flickr.com/photos/adeelzubair/albums/72157645785522606

MOC - Pixar Lamp Luxo jr

hi Guys, have a look to my creation, do you have any suggestoin on how to get it better? btw it is a lego ideas project: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/161724
  5. INTRODUCTION The research institute was the 6th Cuusoo / Ideas project to be released. It was a very short-lived set with an unexpectedly large following. This set got popular outside of LEGO circles due to its feminist message concerning the lack of portrayal of women as job workers in sets. (or something along those lines) This might have been unintentional, but got a lot of attention which may have influenced the sets early retirement, seen as The LEGO Group usually goes to great lengths in order to avoid being used as a tool to promote any political, religious or otherwise socially sensitive messages. It’s a set of 3 individual vignettes built on a 6x6 base, representing three jobs. A paleontologist, astronomer and chemist. TECHNICAL: Set Name: Research Institute Set Number: 21110 Number of Pieces: 165 Theme: Ideas Designer: Alatariel (Ellen Kooijman) Availability: LEGO Exclusive / retail Year Released: 2014 Price: $ 19.99 / € 19.99 Stickers: 0 New elements: 0 Exclusive minifigures: 1/3 Brickset entry Bricklink Inventory The set consists of 165 pieces and three minifigures. It’s easy to build but a small child may need some help, especially with the dinosaur. There are a lot of tiny pieces, so keep your cat and baby clear while building. The box is a step nicer than we are used to, Ideas sets tend to have non-standard box dimensions and fold open from flat like a box of chocolates. Inside you’ll find the instruction booklet. Unlike most sets, with Ideas you get a thicker, sometimes differently binded book with a smoother paper finish. Before the actual build you can read a story about the author, how the idea for the set was born and a short description about the Ideas project. The research institute booklet also describes each of the portrayed scientist jobs. PARTS SELECTION: There are no new or very special parts except a printed blackboard, but you do get a nice selection of lab accessories including a purple colored Erlenmeyer flask which isn’t very common. MINIFIGURES: You get three figures for three scientists. The white lab coat with an orange shirt is a torso print exclusive to this set. The other two minifigures use common parts seen in other town themed sets. I think the white coat chemist is a representation of the sets author which is why it might have gotten special treatment, even though this isn’t outright mentioned anywhere. All the characters have double faces if you want to get them angry or shocked. The paleontologist doesn’t seem to be having a good day either way. BUILD: After you are done with the little gang of scientists, you better give them something to do. We start with Alatariel’s, I mean the chemist’s workplace. This build is the quickest and simplest, but she gets all the nice glassware and other fancy bits and bobs. I would have liked some tiles on that floor but I guess the design team responsible for parts optimization and price boundaries at TLG would disagree. Some scientists get fancy flasks, others get floor furnishing. Moving onto the next gang member and probably the most interesting build of all. The dinosaur! After we are done mini-building this cool microscope stand which stalled us from getting to the dinosaur, we can finally begin work on that menacing T-Rex! … I mean research reference material. This is where the build gets slightly more interesting. The parts that make the skeleton are quite imaginative, someone put a lot of thought into this, hopefully not during work hours. (; No tiles here either, but with a prop this cool, you don't need them. Moving on to the third and last scientist. The astronomer. The build is tiny, but I like how the telescope is built. The use of a sextant and the bucket element for the lens is pretty genius. I think white might have been a better choice of color, but probably not worth the extra expense as some of these elements aren't available in that color. The floor tiles give it a nice finished look, and overall, in spite of the dinosaur, this is my favorite build of the three. And there you have it, the collective institute of researchers. Chemists are a common sight in many research institutions, but I don’t really think you would find a paleontologist and astronomer together in the same building, or at least not very often. I was thinking how to make use of these vignettes in a town setting, and finally chose to use up the empty space in my town hall set as a form of exhibitional and educational area. Leftover parts: Ideas sets are nice enough to always include a brick separator even with smaller sets. Nice to get an extra bone and syringe, but nothing rare or of great use is left from the build. CONCLUSION: I feel like this set is a piece of LEGO Ideas history, it’s the one that baffled with popularity, it held a message and gave us some variety. I’d love to see more specialized themes in LEGO, ones that aren’t firemen and cake shop vendors, something you could put on a bookshelf just for display even if you’re not a regular builder. I don’t think the set was targeted primarily at children, but I feel it could work quite well as a play set. The build is simple and instantly recognizable. Overall Design: 7/10 - All the props are within reach of the limited minifigure limb articulation capabilities except the microscope. Maybe the floor furnishings could be more consistent between the builds. I appreciate the choice of printing in place of stickers. Parts selection: 6/10 – Most of the elements and colors are common, you do get one or two interesting items. Play features: 7/10 – This set is probably not primarily intended for play, but would be up to the task nevertheless Challenging build: 7/10 - The set has a couple of interesting builds despite its small scale Minifigures: 6/10 – One is great, one is acceptable and one is dressed inappropriately for the job description. I think they could have done slightly better. The choice of faces is great though. Overall: 7/10

    Orient Express Thriller!

Well, here it is! My first train MOC that I've ever made, the Orient Express! Including a large Pacific class style locomotive similar to the Emerald Night, a tender, and a passenger car, I cobbled this together from several Bricklink orders and the LEGO Constitution Train Chase. ( I was very sad to take it apart, but it was for the greater good!) The passenger coach features opening doors, and I was able to put two lights into the roof, so it can light up at night! Here's the official story on this MOC: -Oh no! There's a Mummy on the Orient Express! Join dashing, adventurous Arthur Rutledge as he travels across Europe with several priceless artifacts to be delivered to the Louvre Museum in Paris. But be careful, his evil nemesis Cad Goldwater is also aboard, and will stop at nothing to acquire the relics. Will Rutledge be successful, or will the Orient Express be stopped by the nefarious plans of Cad? It's up to you! You can also see more photos of this MOC on the Orient Express Thriller page on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/150692089@N03/albums/72157676895085431/with/31865151642/ This project is also on LEGO Ideas to support! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/162979 We would really appreciate the support! Thank you. :) A couple extra pictures!

    Give me your MOC ideas

Hey Guys! I'm super delighted! A college of mine told me that he used to have a Lego train when he was a kid and he'd see what he could find. Turns out, he used to have an original Metro Liner - including a double deck carriage. Unfortunately, all that's left of the train are the bogies, the 9V motor and the base plates of the train. He sold them to me for 10€. Quite a bargain if you ask me. I'm going to convert my Santa Fe Engine into a 9V train (it was not powered at all before). I'm left with this: http://i.imgur.com/v6UwRij.jpg A completely stripped out Metro Liner base. Nothing more, nothing less. I really wished he still had the complete parts but oh well, can't have everything I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Now I'm looking for ideas to create a new train. I'm planning on making this one a power functions train. I currently have a Santa Fe Engine (conversion to 9V coming up) with one Santa Fe carriage, the complete blue cargo train (set 60052, I believe, with PF) and the blue Railway Express (also a 9V train). I've never really liked the look of the Railway Express' Engine. So stubby and weird. The majority of my trains have a north-american look, so I feel like going the same direction with this MOC train. So if you got an idea of something cool that would go along with my other trains, I'd be glad if you posted some pictures. This is going to be my first MOC train. Super excited for the opportunity.
  8. What time is it? LEGO Ideas and Cartoon Network have joined together to create a totally Algebraic new set. 21308 Adventure Time! The official product description reads: Also, as we all know, LEGO Ideas sets have come from the clever and creative brain-spaces of LEGO fans. From the LEGO Ideas blog I present aBetterMonkey (aka Ludovic Piraud) The set stats for all you number hungry heroes: Parts: 495 Pieces Prices: $49.99 (I can only find the dollar price right now...) Here's the box, the usual sturdier fold out flap package that the more "presentation" oriented sets are sold in. It is very attractive and colourful, with the graphics styled like the cartoon and the characters posed in a way reminiscent to the cartoon too. Showing us just what we get with all the important branding logos too! The back of the box is a cute comic strip arrangement comparing the build-able figures and the characters in the show. Honestly, this is making me hope that there might be an all LEGO styled episode in the series. The Ideas blurb on the boxout informs you about the set. The sides have a continuation of the Land of Ooo styled landscape. Here is a nice little bit printed under the flap. Sage advice too. Inside there are three numbered bags and the full colour instruction manual. The Manual itself has the full instructions and a little character biography for the featured characters. Also, popping up on a few pages are the brick-built characters themselves with little quotes to enjoy as you build. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, building in a logical way to create each figure. Bag 1 Finn, Jake, BMO and a brick separator. Very useful tool, but I have nearly 12 now. Included as these Ideas sets are often aimed more at the fan of the theme than the LEGO fan, so it will be useful for them. There are printed tiles and bricks to create our favourite characters and the colours required too. Certainly it is mostly basic parts, but the result are some very charming figures. Here's the boys (and BMO). Two controllers for video gaming, a cute little BMO with NPU(Nice Parts Use) hotdog arms! BMO is just as adorable as in the series. Jake is all the right colours with the usual cheery grin. The construction of his face means you can build plenty of his morphed forms. I'm looking forward to having a go at building a Jake Suit. Now our hero himself, Finn the Human Boy. The clean lines of a brick-built figure suit the character, two round tiles as the bear hat ears are a great little detail. Pose-ability is minimal, but the mixel ball joints allow some sword swinging detail. The simplicity of the sword design also means it is easy to create many more of Finn's favourite things to take into battle. Overall, these three are well designed, fun to build and cute to boot. Spares aren't actually very remarkable, but spare parts do add to a collection. Bag 2 Here we have the parts for building Marceline the Vampire Queen, Ice King and Gunter the penguin. Printed eyes and two printed 1x3 bricks for the faces. The snowflakes are always lovely to see and these trans-lite-blue ones are great. The pyramid in trans-pink is also very pretty. Here we have the rockin' Marceline, Gunter the possibly evil penguin and Simon Ice King. I just love Marceline's design, getting the hair just right but still LEGO like is excellently accomplished here. Mixel joint arms again let there be some poses, but it is a little hard to get the axe-bass into a good place. Gunter the penguin is a cute little thing, his wings are two shield tiles that leave minimal possibility, Though, how much do penguins need to do? Ice King has an impressive beard, the nose we all know and the magic crown. The snowflakes are a nice touch and the ball joint arms are perfect for Ice King, you don't see many more movements from him than flying and waving his arms around. These three were fun to build and again capture the look of the cartoon characters very well. Spares, minimal again, but an extra pyramid in trans-pink is great. Bag 3 Bag three contents, everything we need for Lady Rainicorn and Princess Bubblegum. Eyes and a printed face, interesting parts include a tan coloured flag and many parts in shades of pink. There are four Unikitty tails in tan also, useful for sculptures and architectural detail. The finished build. Off scale of course, as PB does fly around on Lady. (Lady and Peebs is an excellent example of an episode). Princess Bubblegum looks lovely. Again, the character designs really do suit LEGO. Her crown is well done, the tile is a nice touch too. A few more expressions would have been good, PB has a wide range after all. A better look at Lady, made pose-able from clips and bars, using the new rounded 1x1 plates with bar, you can arrange the legs a little too. The all important rainbow stripes are well done. All in all, she's a great little build. Spares, just little parts again. Bonus Round! "We're Fighting a Dragon!!!" (Creator 31032 Red Creatures not included in the Ideas set) Conclusion Overall, this is an excellent set. It was great fun to play with. After I had built them, there was lots of playing to be done. The characters are fun to pose and display. Great to play with and the simplistic design means there are many additions one can make to accessories the characters. I give it a 10 out of 10, top marks A+ (and others of that like.) This set was completely Algebraic! If you are an Adventure Time fan or have a fan in your life this set is a great buy. Thanks to TLG and Eurobricks for this chance to get my hands on this great Ideas Set. .
  9. Greetings, fellow brick lovers! I'm happy to present you my new project - the legendary Lamborghini Miura SV. I couldn't leave this masterpiece of car engineering without attention it deserves and built it with Lego. Revolutionary and innovative, Miura was basically the first supercar ever produced, setting the standart for sport vehicles up to now. Mid-engined light vehicle with two-seat layout - sounds familiar, right? Named after Ganadería Miura, the Spanish fighting bull ranch (as well as most of the other Lamborghini cars' names having been associated with bulls), this little devil, equipped with V12 engine, was extremely light, with the weight not exceeding 1300kg. The shapes of the car are not edgy compared to its successor Countach, and this has made the process quite hard for me, as the target was not only to copy the exterior, but also to make the openable parts exactly like in the original. This 1243 parts' model features: openable doors, front and rear part fully built interior and a V12 engine replica spare wheel in the front part and a tool box behind the engine :) modular system for easier building process Thank you and have a great day!
  10. Hi guys, I'd like to create a set, a small one, for a series I invented, that is some kind of saga, now this one I thinked should be one of the smallest in the series, a set priced 14,99€ and is inspired by a real gate. In the file you will find some reference photos and a prototype, made by myself, but that lacks a lot. I tried to make it, and I did my best, but it's not already what I'm looking for. Now what I ask you guys is to think as a real lego designer, so take this model and review it, change whatever you want or even start it again from the beginning, to make it looks like a real set, but the most important is: make it cool! This is not a contest, just an help I ask you. This idea could be interesting because everyone can make a different thing, that is related with his idea of lego set. Sorry for bad english. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yoetg94jv2arrbc/set.to.rar?dl=0 hope you enjoy this
  11. "There is no man living who isn’t capable of doing more than he thinks he can do" - Henry Ford (Description below is taken from project page on Ideas) "The prototype of this project, Ford Model T was not the first car ever built, neither it was the most powerful, fast, beautiful and so on... It was revolutionary because of its availability, making the concept of automobile the one we know today - a vehicle, more or less affordable for highest amount of people possible, not a luxury for the chosen ones. That is why I have chosen Tin Lizzie - it's simply iconic. Since there is a plenty of variations of Model T, I ended up making the collective image of it without sticking to any exact modificaton, but trying to follow the last, 1927 version of it - wheels' choice was probably the hardest part because of the original, since there aren't any tires that narrow. However, the overall look of Lizzie is still recognizable. Being a huge fan of vehicles myself, I grab every new set of Creator Expert car as soon as it's possible - but one day I just decided to try my skills in making my own model, that's how this project has been born. Adjusted to scale of already existing vehicles, this set could be a nice addition to the collection and a good gift for other many cars' enthusiasts. Since I'm planning to develop the project, the updates will be coming without any doubt - the final target is to manage to improve the model as much as possible and to build a real version of it, so stay tuned :) Thanks in advance to every single supporter and everyone who stopped to look at this project!" Thanks again for stopping by and have a great day! :)
  12. Do you like stories about secret rooms, hidden maps, the secret signs and ancient treasures? I will tell you one such story. Once upon a time lived a famous architect. He even built palaces for kings. He was fabulously rich and famous. He was very fond of gold and jewels. And all the money he spent on them. But when he died, left a very strange Testament. The old architect wrote in his testament that he hid all his gold and jewels. The map and the key to the treasure he left for storage to the Admiral Carl Jonson who was a close friend of the architect. It seems that everything is simple. But the admiral died 10 years earlier than the architect. Therefore, it is impossible to ask the Admiral, where the treasures are hidden. People says that the treasure has not yet been found. Maybe you can find them? Good luck! So I made a little comic about a treasure hunt. This story happened on this pedestrian street. If you want to see all images of this set, please click here: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/158145 If you liked the story and the set, please SUPPORT this project on ideas.lego.com!

    Tram of Opicina

Hi! I'm a new train LEGO fan, my new passion started last spring... But I think that a LEGO tram is missing, so I created in LEGO the tram of my little city. This is my MOC: Tram of Opicina #DSC_1058 by Prison Brick, on Flickr Tram of Opicina #IMG_2473 by Prison Brick, on Flickr Tram of Opicina #IMG_2496 by Prison Brick, on Flickr Tram of Opicina #DSC_1061 by Prison Brick, on Flickr Now I submit it on LEGO Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/158520 Please, support & share if you like it! 15. BMW 2002 Turbo Hello everyone and thank you for stopping by! Collaborators: Built in Lego Digital Designer/Mecabricks by Marco. qm (me) Rendered by Wlange and Technic Man Very special thanks to Wlange and Technic, probably without their help you wouldn't be seing this awesome images. Information of the 2002 Made in 1974, the 2002 Turbo was the first car made by BMW that had a trubocharger. This little 2-door car made more than 170 BHP, which on those times was a lot of power, still it was a nice car that you could use to go on a trip with your family on the weekend. Information of the Lego version: I designed this using techniques from the Lego Creator Expert sets, such as the Mini, VW Camper, Beetle and F40, so it would look nice if you placed it next to the sets mentioned before. It also features opening bonnet, trunk, doors, detailed interior and engine. On the interior, it has 4 detailed seats, a straight 4 engine, and detailed dashboard. With a lot of space on the trunk and "glovebox". On the rear, you will see the opening trunk, detailed tailights and even an exhaust! Hope you liked it enough to click that support button! If you want, feel free to give feedback or suggestions on the comments and all the changes made will be added to the updates. ;) Also, building instructions here: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/433738 -Marco. qm

    Lego loving bride to be

Hey everyone, I am Babs and I have been a fan of Lego since I was a child but love it a lot more now I am older than I did as a child. I am currently planning my wedding for June. I am looking to incorporate as much Lego as possible in to the day. I am very open to any suggestions/tips/tricks/ideas that anyone may have to offer.
  17. Hi everyone, I'd like to share my first submission for Lego Ideas - a set based on the original Planet of the Apes film from 1968! Click the link below to check it out if you'd like. I'd appreciate if you would support the project and/or leave some feedback on how you think the set looks and could be improved :) Link removed If you could share the project it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  18. With the recent concert tour of "A Head Full of Dreams", Coldplay's popularity has risen drastically, therefore why not create a project of a popular group. The set is a concert stage, so the builders will be able to use it for their own customs and other play features. This set will include 4 exclusive minifigures of the group: Chris Martin Jonny Buckland Guy Berryman Will Champion Additional features include: Upright Piano Electronic Keyboard Drum set 2 Guitars Amplifiers 4 Beat boxes (green, red, blue, black) microphone I invite you all to be a part of this project, support and make something incredible become true.
  19. This is the first MOC I present here on EB. It's a large scale figure of Link from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time measuring around 1 foot/ 30 cm tall. He has 14 joints of articulation so he can be posed in several positions. This is also the first time that I have submitted a model to LEGO Ideas and it would be much appreciated if you could support and share if you like this model. Here's the link (no pun intended) to the project: Link to Ideas
  20. I am trying to help a family member who can't understand English and his not really good with computers. He made a project on LEGO Ideas and is trying to get suggestions on his brick set. He also asked me how do people get more visibility on projects that are not related to any licensed property. Anybody that can takes a looks, give recommendations and suggestions about the set or his question would be really appreciated. At the same time, if you like the project it would be really nice of you to support it. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/145024 Thank you!
  21. Black Jade Pavilion This model presents a typical scene in Chinese royal garden. It is based on a corner view of the famous Summer Palace in Beijing, China. There are two buildings in the scene. The single-level one is named Moyu Xuan, and the other one is called Danxia Ge in Chinese, Which means black jade and rosy cloud. The rockeries in the middle of the model along with lotus in the lake, the whole model represents peace and harmony in Chinese culture. Some features: Build on a 32x32 baseplate. All doors and windows can be opened. Flare angles of the cornices are fixed by hinge plates which connected to a 1x4 plate with 2 knobs. they are very stable. All buildings and the tree can be removed easily. moyudanxia01 by ElviN, on Flickr moyudanxia02 by ElviN, on Flickr moyudanxia03 by ElviN, on Flickr moyudanxia04 by ElviN, on Flickr moyudanxia05 by ElviN, on Flickr moyudanxia06 by ElviN, on Flickr For more images and my other creation, please visit my Flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jxelvin/ C&C are welcome! 22. Robert8 usually does this, but has conferred upon me his blessing to post the poll this time, so... here we go! Let's see which projects in the LEGO Ideas review batch that closed earlier this week are the ones we think likeliest to become honest-to-goodness sets. We should find out in five months or so from this posting (give or take a few weeks) which of us were right.
  23. More photos you can see on the page of this modular project: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/152944 I want to present you my new project "Modular pedestrian street". I really like the modular buildings, which makes LEGO company. Each new official LEGO modular building is not similar to the previous one. Each new set is an interesting building, which occupies a large part of the standard base plate 32*32. Pedestrians, in turn, have to huddle on a narrow strip of sidewalk. In such a small space it is difficult to create something interesting from the life of minifigures. I want to propose to build a long pedestrian street which there is in every city. The most interesting is always happening on a pedestrian streets: street performers, musicians, artists, street cafes with the cheerful companies and so on. My project is fully compatible with the official Lego modular buildings. If you make several similar sets, you can create a long pedestrian street where you will be able to create all sorts of interesting stories and situation with your minifigures. This is a very exciting and interesting! My project is the begin of walking street. In the buildings there are a jewelry store with a jeweler's office, a hostel, a souvenir shop and a small cafe. I think the pictures will tell you about my project more than I can write.

Eagles from space: 1999 TV show

Who doesn't love the Moonbase Alpha Universe borns during the TVShow aired from 1975 to 1977 called "SPACE: 1999" and produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson creators of other cult series like the Thunderbirds and UFO. The eagles are iconic spacecrafts from the serie which I always wanted to build in Lego. Since few time Lego production give me the opportunity to get some parts which fit perfectly with the design of these. Of course I made them take part of Lego.Ideas in order to make a real fleet, one day... You can support this project if you want. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/119421
