  1. I thought it would be fun to have a thread just for sharing really awesome MOCs that other people created. I know looking at awesome stuff helps to get me inspired. My first ever Lego Space set was Starfleet Voyager. One really awesome Lego builder, Chris Giddens, created TWO remakes of this set that are both amazing! The first one is here: His more recent one is here: Two of my other favorite MOCs are by Peter Moris as part of his Classic Space Evolved set. This first one is remake of the Twin Starfire, a ridiculous set from the 80s that he made awesome: The other one I really like of his is his radical remake of FX Star Patroller, which is a mashup with the Mospeada Legioss & Tread (also known as the Robotech Alpha and Beta fighters):

    Inspirational Modular and Castle MOCs

Hey guys, I decided to create this topic and the main idea came from this and this post (so special thanks to @danth and @Digger of Bricks!). I would like to highlight three things before I start to post inspirational MOCs: I’ll post three staff picks everyday! Please feel free to post your favorite MOCs! Have fun admiring and taking inspiration from those great MOCs Top three MOC’s IMO in Baroque architecture: 1. This incredible Baroque Church by @Jellyeater! 2. This amazingly detailed MOC by @pj_bosman! 3. This greatly shaped modular by @cimddwc! Here are the three best Baroque MOC’s IMO! What do you think about them? Would you buy modulars like those if TLG made? Here are the Steampunk ones: 1. This incredible layout made together by @castor-troy and @domino39 (they also made one MOD of the PR and the MS and two MOD’s of the CC included in this layout. But they look so different that they are more MOC then MOD). EB topic here and Flickr albums with more photos here, here, here and here. 2. These great Steampunk modulars by @adde51! 3. These very interesting modulars by @Zilmrud who as well made great MOD’s of the PC and the BB! Here are the three most gorgeous Steampunk MOC’s IMO! What do you think of them? Would you buy modulars like those if TLG ever made?
  3. Who are some of your favorite train/locomotive AFOL builders, and what are your favorite creations of theirs? Anything and everything relating to trains amongst fan creations and builders can be discussed here, including Locomotives, Railcars, Trolleys, Monorails, Train-centric Architecture, LEGO Ideas Projects, Techniques and whatever else that may fit within the context of this subforum!
  4. What are your favorite MOC genres to build within, admire others' work from, or aspire to hopefully build within in the near future if you'll ever have the opportunity? Whether they be based upon past or present preexisting themes, licenses, or product lines already covered by Lego (Star Wars, Classic Space, Ninjago, etc.), or perhaps they've never been truly touched upon by Lego (Steampunk, Post-Apocalyptic, Licensed Franchises never yet partnered with TLG, etc.), discuss your favorites here and share creations from those genres built by yourself or others.
  5. Hey guys, I know that several people before me created similar threads but here, there are some specific people from whom I would really like to learn how they design modulars or non-modular buildings, from where they get inspiration, how do they start to design and which techniques they use to create their incredible buildings - so I mention them here. Would be extremely appreciated if you can share some of your knowledge and experiences. @snaillad, @cimddwc, @RoxYourBlox, @Pate-keetongu, @alois, @Norton74, @peedeejay, @Pakita, @lookl, @paupadros, @Kristel, @BrickyBoy, @AllanSmith, @fillishave, @Xenomurphy, @Brickenberg, @Jellyeater, @oirad 72, @sander1992, @DigitalDreams, @Skalldyr, @drdesignz, @Wodanis, @Berthil, @tkel86, @Captain Green Hair, @Stelario, @spaceman76, @PaddyBricksplitter, @Kalais, @pj_bosman, @Man with a hat, @Basiliscus, @kris kelvin, @Lasse, @Morty, @Sheriff von Snottingham, @Pepa Quin, @Inyongbricks, @mautara, @flat_four, @jaapxaap, @quy, @sasbury, @chumuhou, @Nannan, @nebraska, @Elostirion, @Imagine, @puddleglum, @genecyst, @Luky1987, @Gabor, @MichalPL, @higdon, @Gabe Umland, @Startbrickingtoday, @dvdliu, @Xtopher, @Toltomeja, @Klikstyle, @Colonel, @andybear@hk, @koffiemoc, @Naptown11, @SavaTheAggie, @tsi, @Regenerate builder, @mccoyed, @Brickextreme, @brickextreme2, @Wedge09, @SERVATOR, @BrickRally217, @macsergey, @Superfunk, @Ayrlego, @Chorduroy, @Dfenz, @denil85, @vecchiasignoraceppo, @SlyOwl, @kreimkoek, @Spacebrick, @frumpy, @teabox, @mouseketeer, @norlego, @Subix, @Bricksky, @TJJohn12, @Nick Barrett, @Legodt, @Danpb, @CorvusA, @Chapachuk, @tkatt, @otterlilly, @ranghaal, @nuno2500, @Hoexbroe, @wingyew29, @de-marco, @theycallmemrdarko, @savetheclocktower, @hugosantos, @Nieks, @TheBear, @TheLET, @Svelte, @modestolus, @exis, @wanseetoon, @Erdbeereis, @dalle, @chiukeung99, @eos512, @stej123, @6kyubi6, @LegoJalex, @Brickthing, @Anne Mette, @Ymarilego, @Clark, @Matija Grguric, @Ron Dayes, @Neverroads, @Kapp, @o0ger, @Asper, @Bennemans, @Matn, @Romanos, @Esben Kolind, @Minifig Lecturer, @Skrytsson, @brickbink, @sweetsha, @Konajra, @frogstudio, @WetWired, @pinioncorp, @Scrat, @crises_crs, @Nightfall, @SzU, @lisqr, @Huaojozu, @Klikstyle, @Bricked1980, @oo7, @brickbink, @Derfel Cadarn, @Priovit70, @CoolerTD, @Swan Dutchman, @Parks and Wrecked Creation, @Know Your Pieces, @adde51, @Lindon, @MaximB, @Zilmrud, @Mestari, @Fenom, @Adeel Zubair, @FiliusRucilo, @Wineyard, @vedosololego, @JanetVanD, @sdrnet, @Vincent Q, @Cecilie, @papercla, @Aliencat, @fonz, @Teddy, @Majkel, @Disco86, @Jasper Joppe Geers, @jaredchan, @Legopard, @Rolli, @Anio, @jalemac34, @Vincent Kessels, @Delbaerov, @Giacinto Consiglio, @ryantaggart, @vitreolum, @Alex, @eurotrash, @gabrielerava, @L@go, @STHLM, @sonicstarlight, @DK_Titan, @wooootles, @Hinckley, @castor-troy, @ER0L, @polarstein, @Elysiumfountain, @Tobysan, @Tijger-San, @Gunman, @alex54, @Palixa And The Bricks, @Redhead1982, @thomassio, @carebear, @RogerSmith, @gotoAndLego, @2013-lego, @niteangel, @MnnMtq, @kevin8, @koalayummies, @sheo, @hermez, @stef2280, @Cunctator, @domino39, @CarsonBrick, @eliza, @brickcitydepot and @Dakar A I know, that list is enormous, there are some who designed billions of buildings and some just one but they all absolutely deserve to be here! I've seen numerous builders who have a unique body of original work and I was wondering where you guys get inspiration from. I've noticed most of them are Castle and Sci-Fi based however is there anything specific that inspires your MOC's? At the end of 2016 I was reviewing my LEGO creation’s and I noticed the lack of innovative and original ideas, most of them are recreations and explorations of existing intellectual properties. Feedback and criticism is much appreciated. My LEGO Creation’s - www.flickr.com/photos/adeelzubair/albums/72157645785522606
  7. When Alpha Team was in its prime, I wasn't "around" yet. It had been recently discontinued when I ran into the theme on the "product" page of LEGO®'s official website. I remember when I was younger how much I was into making action/adventure type sci-fi creations; and after recently stumbling into the game again, I remember why. I didn't enjoy the game as much I what inspired me within the game. There were giant secret base fortresses and other outposts that you infiltrated. And because nearly everything was made of LEGO® (besides the terrain), I was inspired to build such things as control panels, sliding doors, laser forcefields, and a whole lot of unorthodox vehicles. The physical sets I looked up were pretty cool, but not nearly as cool as they seemed in the game. Same thing happened when I played the last LEGO® Star Wars™ game they made, and watched some gameplay videos of the Batman™ game. Speaking of Batman™, I was equally as inspired by the old animated videos LEGO® had on their website back when they first released the theme: videos such as the one where The Penguin™ broke into a museum, via a giant rubber ducky, and stole a bunch of diamonds. I don't know… There's just something about seeing LEGO®s virtually come to life that make the little plastic gears in my head turn and inspires me to build. (I'm uncertain of where to put this topic, so I'll trust the mods will give it a good home) Anyone else get similar effects from these games?
  8. (from the festival website) I had went to Port Washington, Wisconsin's Maritime Heritage Festival, and took a self-guided tour of the Tall Ship Peacemaker. I figured I would post pictures of my tour to provide inspiration for more realistic MOCs that we construct. The vessel is a Barquentine Rigged vessel, and its interior construction is apparently based upon the Cutty Shark. Below are specifications of this vessel provided by the website for this vessel. Specifications Sparred length 158 feet Length Overall (LOA) 124 feet Length at Waterline (LWL) 104 feet Rig Height 123 feet Beam 33 feet Draft 14 feet Hull Structure Ipe ("Ironwood") Displacement 400 T Registration Georgia (USA) Rig Barquentine Sail Area 10,600 Square Feet Builder Maccarini Shipyard Navegantes, SC, Brazil Keel Laid 1986 Launched 1989 Here are some overview pictures of the vessel docked at Port Washington: Some images of the lower quarter deck. My three year old was with me with her stuffed parrot, which she thought was a good idea to bring to a pirate ship. Here are some images of the upper quarter deck. Here are some pictures of the rigging and sails Here's the helm, which is found inside a structure on the upper quarter deck In the last thumbnail just above, my daughter was heading to the captain's quarters. It's accessed from the lower quarter deck and is located at the stern. It contains all modern furnishings. Here are some pictures of the bow. And here's a close up of the bell. It's located on the fore/main mast. Well sums up my tour of the vessel, and none of you have to pay $6 per person for admittance.
  9. A long, long time ago, I stumbled across the great site called Cranes Etc. It's a site that reviews models of construction vehicles, as the name implies, and I've seen some fun stuff to build here. I really like this site because the pictures of the models are really good, and they do some things with the models that is not often shown with the real vehicles. Also, there are some uncommon vehicles and configurations that are hard to find pictures of in the first place. Some of my favorites: Mammoet PTC Crane Goldhofer AST-1 X 1360 Aircraft Tractor Peterbilt 379 with Nelson 3x3x3 Trailer Terex AC 1000 Mobile Crane (My current project ) Isn't this stuff cool? I think you should check out this site if you need inspiration. www.cranesetc.co.uk
