  1. Hey everyone Decided to build a section of a library for GOH. The first floor has some bookshelves, desk and a statue. Second floor is more of a "cat-walk", which displays shields, weapons and the colors of Avalonia. As always, both positive and negative criticism is welcome. Thanks all for reading/viewing. ~Pat
  2. Hey everyone After settling in the furthest west of Avalonia, these three set up a small house close to the cliff edge. The Avalonian colors fly near the entrance of the house (And as decoration at the bottom). Still new to the land, they take their time exploring different locations and plan to expand their settlement here. As always, all feedback is welcome! A closer look at the landscape and front of the building. Looking forward to posting more here in Guilds of Historica. Thanks all for your time! ~Pat
  3. Hi I have designed a couple of medieval-style cottages, but I think this is my favourite scale. It's similar to the little buildings in the Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu, and the Medieval Market Village, which i think works really well. I am planning a medieval mountain village, inspired from the clean lines of Howls Moving Castle and the cartoonish architecture and machinery of Final Fantasy/Zelda RPGs. I'm most proud of the windows, which I think really characterise that robust, animated style. Anyway, I'm hoping to construct a few more buildings in this style, and place them in a mountain top village. Although this plan is still pretty fluid at this stage. I've also experimented with a topo map for a background, from somewhere in regional Victoria... Lego Medieval Themed Mecha

Hello all There are already many great MOCs on the internet for Gundams/Mecha. I wanted to organize a thread here and collect some of the Medieval Themed (or at least styled) Mechas. I will start by sharing my own MOC, a Knight Templar Mecha (just built it this weekend). One overview photo is attached. More detailed photos can be found on my mocpages account. Here is the link to some basic photos: http://www.moc-pages.../moc.php/426034 and some better quality ones: http://www.moc-pages.../moc.php/426044 (thanks to my wife who is much better at photography) This is the first one of about three I have planned. The Templar is mainly red and black (should be red and white, but.........), I will build a Knight Hospitaller counterpart that's mainly black and white and a Teutonic Knight that's mainly white yellow (gold) and black. I wanted to stick with medieval designs initially but didn't have enough pieces for matching left and right pauldrons. Ended up borrowing some ideas/designs from the gundam MOCs. Some works that I should give credit to are in the following links (may not be original sources): - Zaku MOC that inspired left pauldron: https://www.flickr.c...akboy/165116253 - Another ZAKU MOC that is great: http://gundamfamily....og-post_56.html - I quite liked the bust design. It was learned from another MOC but I can't find the source right now. Will add it in a later post. Please leave your comment or share your favorite Medieval themed (related) mecha. It can be what-ever scale. Also, if you come across any medieval style action figures that can be adapted into a LEGO mecha, please feel free to share it here. Thanks all

    Arangr Castle: Fall

The third phase of my project to show Arangr Castle through all 4 seasons. This was a fun season to build, as it being the time of harvest, I was able to have lots of fun minifig details. As well as some fall foliage, which is always neat. Arangr castle is located near the Avalonian border, in Mitgardia. Fall sees the harvest of crops, and storage of provisions for winter. The leaves fall, as the weather gets colder, and animals also make preparation to hibernate or migrate south. As usual, there are more pictures on my website: link Thanks for looking, one season left

    Arangr Castle: Summer

The second phase of my project to show Arangr Castle through all 4 seasons. See spring here. The landscape changed most, though there are some changes to be found inside the castle as well. Arangr castle is located near the Avalonian border, in Mitgardia. Summer sees the continuing growth of plant and animal life. The warmer weather dries up the spring rains and encourages outdoor activities. More pictures can be found on my website. Thanks for looking

    MMV-style Bakery

Oh and I've just realised I've never done a render of the building closed up. Oh well. Sort of considering whether it's worth putting this up on Ideas as an individual model or including a second building in the vein of the old MMV. I've begun work on a companion building, a guildhall with a half-timbered front and a stone rear, but it's proving a somewhat tricky build at the moment. Oh, the bakery, yes. It's designed in LDD but uses only production-colour bricks (aside from the minifigs, natch). I shamelessly copied the idea of the front shop window from the Diagon Alley set, and of course the building proportions are all from the original MMV concept.
  8. Here's my entry for Category A of the Frozen Beyond contest. Hoping to get over our argument, I reluctantly agreed to accompany Gremlon on a trip to Mitgardia. Our destination was Falcon Manor - a vital fortress that was untouched by the Algus. Until now... After my last few small builds, it was nice to build a slightly larger moc again. The main technical challenge in this MOC was the rounded wall - it's a technique I've used only once before (in Zelpunra's Tower), and the fact that I built that section in about 2 days (rather than 1-2 months) made it particularily difficult. The right wooden section also had some tricky half-stud offsets that required a bit of subtle upside-down building. I also haven't done many snowy builds (I think the last time I did one was early 2014) so that was fun, used most of my collection of curved slopes. On a side note, photography was tricky with white on white. I really need to get a good light blue/grey/black background... Enjoy! Thanks for viewing!
  9. My entry to Category C of the Frozen Beyond Contest Before the Algus arrived, Morkerna was a bright isle, warm and peaceful. But then the Algus came. Morkerna has been reduced to a frozen wasteland. And it is to this scene that I come, returning from my adventures in Mitgardia. The land is desolate, cold, destroyed. Anger brews within me as I turn and see a pair of Algus walking toward me. I look for anything I could use as a weapon, but there is nothing. Frustrated, I grab the first thing I find - a flower - and throw it at them. The two stop. A horrified expression comes to their face. Could it be? I grab another blossom and throw it. And, to my utter surprise, it happens again: the algus seem stunned. Grinning, I begin bombarding them with flowers, watching as they fall to the ground, moaning. It seems that the way to defeat death is through life. This was a fun pair of builds! Showing both how the Algus are changing the weather and how to stop them is a challenging task to combine together, so I decided that the former half would be most effectively captured with a before and after. I was originally going to try to do a minifigure scale version of the watermill for the "after" scene, but I couldn't come up with a waterwheel design that I liked (and it ended up that I wouldn't have had time for that idea anyway), so I decided to replicate part of the landscape in the back corner instead. The second build (snowy scene) was quite rushed, but I'm still quite pleased with how the snow and rocks turned out, and I learned from last time to use a blue background The snow and rocks are both surprisingly complex, with tons of SNOT and offsetting. At one point while building the rocks, half of it exploded, and the complexity was so great that I actually had to look at a WIP photo to see how it all went together (and even with the photo, it was still tough to figure out how to put it all back together) The other MOC was designed around that house design, which I came up with during the summer but never actually tested until last month. This build is much more complex than it looks, which is partially why it ended up taking almost 2 months to build... The micro watermill is based on the use of a bar as a corner beam. After that, the rest comes together with some SNOTted tiles and fiddly techniques. The roof, connected with a few clips, was one of the hardest parts. I also really like the look of the river next to it; the SNOT allows for some smooth shaping, and the slope looks pretty nice too. The windmill is a bit simpler, but it was still pretty hard to get a nice tapered shape with a variety of tiny round structure techniques. (this moc is also on Lego Ideas; support it here!) Overall I'm pretty pleased with how these mocs turned out. Hope you like them
  10. Snarling, exhaling putrid hot air, the stone dragon approaches. Its footsteps shake the ground as I cower in fear, unable to move. It reaches me. As the dragon opens its mouth, preparing to attack, a strange thought enters my mind. The dragon, in a way, seems almost familiar, as though it were an old friend. But it does not regard me as a friend; the friend - the dragon - engulfs me with flame. I come back to consciousness in the graveyard, still half-able to feel the heat of the dragon's fire. I've had the same dream, every day, for weeks. For weeks I've been trying to interpret it, to make some sort of sense of it, but all my efforts have been a failure. This time, though, it was more vivid than before. I shake my head; it's useless to dwell on such thoughts. Trying my hardest to forget the dream, I walk solemnly to my parents' graves. A couple of old builds from the summer that I never got around to posting here. Some additional photos of the builds: Thanks for viewing!
  11. This was my second MOC, experimenting with a few techniques from Derfel Cadarn's amazing guide to building a medieval village. It's pretty simple and straightforward. C&C appreciated! 12. The dream was back. A stone dragon, advancing on me, as I stand, unable to run away, cowering in fear. I've seen it so many times that I know it by heart. I'll wake up as soon as it closes in on me. I am about to look away, bored of having the same experience every day for weeks, when I realize that something is different this time. The dragon's eyes are closed. The eyes have always been open before. Bright red eyes, piercing into me, bringing me fear at first before I began to grow used to the dream. Is that why it's different? Do I only keep seeing this because I need to feel fear, because I cannot allow myself to grow comfortable? Is the dream merely a product of my subconscious trying to scare itself, or is it something else? As I try to figure out what the meaning of this new image could be, its eyes open. And that's when I realize why the dragon had felt so familiar before. The eyes belong to someone I know. * * * The misty air cools my skin as I walk briskly over the bridge at Hagron Swamp. The swamp is a place of mystery; I have never been here before, and my parents had never told me about it. Yet, ironically, it is the home of the person who everyone in Morkerna know about: Gremlon. For months, after our adventures in Nocturnus, he has been more reclusive. In the past, he had clung to me constantly, like a shadow, watching my every move like an overprotective parent. Now, this change is almost frightening. For months, I had wondered why he had drawn away from me; now, I believe, I know why. * * * The flimsy porch creaks loudly as I step onto it. Gremlon is not in the treehouse, yet he has claimed that this is where he goes when he is away from me. Lies. It is these lies that have aroused my suspicions of him, these lies that have brought me to loath him. As I begin to curse the lying wizard, I hear footsteps from behind me. It is Gremlon, strolling across the bridge, looking shocked to see me here. He starts to speak, but I cut him off, grabbing him and slamming him against the wall. "What the hell is going on, Gremlon!?" He stares at me, feigning perplexity, so I continue. "Why have you been leaving me? What aren't you telling me!?" He still maintains the same blank stare. Finally, I snap. "My parents weren't killed by supporters of the Desert King, were they? You killed them!" It is the only reasonable conclusion I could reach after seeing his eyes in the nightmare. It must be true, it must be because I need it to be true, because I need to have someone who I can punish for my parents' deaths, and I want to hate Gremlon, and so I tell myself that he is guilty. He must be. "Come on, Elisa, you know I didn't kill them!" And I do know, and what he says is true, but I cannot allow myself to believe him; I must hang onto my illusion of his guilt in order to satisfy myself; I must attack Gremlon, hurt him. Or I can do what is right. Because even as I want to blame Gremlon for my parents' death, I also want him to be innocent, for our old relationship to be restored. I let go of him and walk away, mumbling an apology. Another pair of builds from last summer that I had intended to post here earlier but neglected to. Hagron Swamp (the base of the tree) was a fun experiment in mood and colors. My favorite part might be the lever plants (or perhaps the colors), and overall I think it turned out pretty well for a one-day build. The treehouse was definitely the more difficult of the two, but I'm also really satisfied with this scene. The hardest part was probably the trunk texturing, but I think that it looks a bit better here than in the swamp. Also, I quite like the architecture of the whitewash section on the left, with the arches on the bottom and the angled beams on top. Thanks for viewing!

    MOC: The Blacksmith

And another castle MOC! Here's my latest work The Blacksmith: Near the center of the village sits the home of the village blacksmith. Working out of a small shop connected to his house, the blacksmith provides trustworthy work to the local farmers, soldiers, and craftsmen who need a horse shoed, a plough sharpened, or a tool repaired. The sound of his hammer striking metal can be heard throughout the countryside, and the cozy outdoor shop often serves as the site of friendly socialization and sharing of news for the village residents. Another build incorporating the technic-pin roof technique I've been playing with. I love the way it looks and the versatility of it's shape, but it can really be a pain to work with. Also, building houses is kinda hard...getting the roof shape and building proportions right can be complicated. Something I need to practice more. Thanks for looking! Soli Deo Gloria!

  15. After consulting with the late monk Osamu, Daiymo Hayato left for Tagashima Castle to plan out his next move. He has heard from his spies that enemies are plotting against his life, and that the safest route would be through the mountains. The main roads would be far too dangerous. So, after several days of travel, Hayato and his bodyguard, have arrived at a safe haven, the monastery of one of Hayato's close friends, the monk Satomi. And that is that! :) This is my entry for the Colossal Castle Contest's small category. Criticisms, questions, and comments are welcome! Thank you for viewing my creation! MOC Mirror Lake Cottage

Hello all, I would like to share you guys my first 'Historic Theme' worthy MOC. Mirror Lake Cottage is a peaceful cottage where friends join to have a great time. Relax by the lake, take the boat for a trip, chop some wood and play with the dogs. For someone who wants to have a chat with the lady of the house, it tends to get slippery. Hope you like the MOC. [MOC] Hero's Room

Here is a simple and small MOC in a medieval fantasy world (actually inspired by games like Skyrim). The idea is that the heroes return to their home after a long and hard looting :) The build is part of a series of sets I currently plan all related to this medieval fantasy world and with these kind of role playing backgrounds. There is the bed and a small table as well as a fire place on the floor where fish can be cooked. In the chest, there is some of the stuff taken by our heroes.

    MOC: Round Table Hall

After 3 years of design in LDD, and 1 year of accumulating parts, I have finished my Round Table Hall. It is based on the ordering of the Round Table at Winchester Castle, as shown here: https://childrenofar.../roundtable.jpg These are a few general photos, and I will take some more with detail later. If you like these, be sure to check out my Robin Hood MOCs as well: https://www.flickr.c...6995@N05/albums My Flickr account also has these photos in higher res (although I am a busy person, and the photos aren't too great)
  24. St. Bendt's Church is a church in Ringsted, Denmark. Red brick is one of the most common building materials in Denmark. The technique to produce red bricks arrived in Denmark around year 1160. St. Bendt's Church in Ringsted was one of the first red brick churches in Scandinavia. In year 1170 the church was dedicated with great ceremony to Saint Bendt (Benedict of Nursia). The church is built in Romanesque style and houses the tombs of Saint Knud Lavard and many of Denmark´s earlier kings, queens and noblemen. This layout shows the dedication of the church in year 1170. Saint Knud Lavard was canonized during the dedication of the church in year 1170. Saint Knud Lavard (1096-1131) was a very successful and popular Duke of Schleswig. He was the son of King Erik I of Denmark and a an obvious successor to the Danish throne. But he never became king because he was killed by his cousin Magnus. His death provoked a long and bloody civil war. A week after his death his son Valdemar the Great (1131-1182) was born. In year 1157 Valdemar won the civil war and became king of Denmark. The fate of Knud Lavard and his son’s victory formed the background for his canonisation in 1170. During the dedication of the church Valdemar the Great's oldest son Knud VI (1163-1202) was proclaimed co-regent together with his father. Therefore the 7-year-old boy is sitting on a throne with a crown on his head next to his father. The real church can be seen here: More photos of my MOC can be seen here: https://www.flickr.c...157659941927972 .
  25. This was one of those builds, that I started just because I wanted to build something, but somehow I managed to work it into a RPG challenge in the Lands of Mythron on MOCpages. I also added some pink because I'm a bit short on bley… (SHIP pictures coming soon hopefully). The tree is one of my favorite parts, and I tried to make the house different than my last one (https://www.flickr.c...posted-public/) by adding simple things like the protruding door and the window. Please tell me what you think! Criticism is always appreciated.
