  1. Hi Fellow Eurobrickers, I would like to use the opportunity to advertise my MOC a bit. I normally build planes and to some extent cars (see my Photostream on Flickr), but this time I decided to build something different: the heroes of Penguins of Madagascar. If you like them, you can support them on http://ideas.lego.com/projects/92191. The goal was to build it at a small scale and yet try to make each one of them reflect the character as much as possible. Each one has some unique features. Rico can tilt his legs, wings and also open his mouth to come up with a new item to solve the puzzle. Skipper can also turn his head around. Because he is taller, Kowalski has more ways to use his wings. Last but not least, Private has his always innocent look. They all have a special item to help them through the adventures:

    MOC Marlinspike Hall

Hello all! Another Brickvention has come and gone and I present to you my main MOC from this year.. Marlinspike Hall from The Adventures of Tintin comic series! C & C Welcome
  4. Hi all, I just received an email form Shop @ Home telling me my order is cancelled, due to exceeded demand. Perhaps this is not the right forum for this post, but I feel I have to share this as I'm extremely amazed and disappointed with LEGO. For the very first time. Apparently the stock status at the Shop @ Home website is not a realtime status! I ordered two NXT battery packs when the were on sale a couple of days ago. They were in stock according to the website. Two days later they sent me a message informing me that delivery is delayed.Ok that can happen. And just now I received a message saying “the demand exceeded the expectations….and the order is cancelled” And any payment will be refunded. This mail exceeded my expectations and experiences with this very strong brand. Unfortunately not in a good way though. It seems ordering online is not a real time transaction :( Anybody had any similar experiences? Is there anything I can do about this?

  6. Hey guys, So I posted a topic in the BrickLink Forums trying to promote my store and products, and several members replied saying that my designs are "illegal" and violate TLG copyright laws. This is, and was not my intent. I created my cape designs the same way that 100s of other customizers and decal creators have done. What do you guys suggest I do. I have stated several times that these designs are completely custom. Should I contact LEGO, put in for a copyright on my designs, ect.? Let me know your thoughts. I don't want to cause any trouble. Thanks, -Brandon (RBC) EDIT: Here is the email I sent to the LEGO Group:

  9. With 2014 coming to an end, I thought it would be nice to give a look back and remember what this year brought along with it. So, in your opinion, what was the: best/worst LEGO set released in 2014? best/worst LEGO minifigure released in 2014? best/worst LEGO theme overall in 2014? And finally, what are you most excited about for 2015? (Happy New Year! )
  10. This MOC's story-line takes place after the first LEGO MMORPG (Lego Universe) was determined a failure and canceled at midnight on Jan 31st, 2012. This story suggests that the Nexus Force (the protectors of imagination in the game) was over-run by a huge armies of Stromlings (bad guys, agents of The Maelstrom, a chaos entity) and the decision was made to evacuate the remaining mini-figures inside Nexus Tower (The home of the nexus force) in the Bright Hope, and head for a tear in the space-time continuum to our Universe. Here is where the story starts: The Bright Hope was ejected from Nexus Tower during the final battle for LEGO Universe, fleeing to Gallant 5 and the space / time rip nearby. With her crew of 1 Grand Admiral (Bob) 6,000 crew, 7,000 soldiers, along with a handful of the best and brightest minds the Nexus Force could gather in their darkest hour. After reaching our universe (and sealing the Rip behind it), the Bright Hope searched for their new home, eventually settling on a small ice planet somewhere near the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy. A base camp was constructed, and after a time, the Bright Hope was sent on a new mission: to make contact with their new neighbors, and forge alliances while defending their new home from invasion from the forces of evil. (The front saucer was inspired by Eurobricks user hachiroku and his version of the 2009 Starship Enterprise.) The Bright Hope is powered by two Imagination Reactors and can reach 70% of the speed of light. It has 510 laser cannons, has consumables (food & water) capable of lasting 2 years, and contains a compliment of 250 fighter craft and 50 shuttles, plus 200 escape pods. The fighters and shuttles come from a landing bay in the center of the two two engine bays. The 2x2 curved slope on the front is supposed to have this CITY Arctic print: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=15068pb004 The Bright Hope's bridge (it is supposed to be located in the 4x4 dish on the ship model) features three seats, two for senior officers and the large swivel chair is for the Nexus Force supreme commander, which happens to be Grand Admiral Bob. The rear of the bridge is the briefing room with a large hologram projector in the center. (The bridge was heavily inspired by the 2009 Star Wars set 7754, Home One Mon Calimari Star Cruiser.) Ship Name: Bright Hope Commander: Grand Admiral Bob Owner: Nexus Force Designer: Dr. Albert Overbuild Manufacturer: Assembly Shipyards Weapons: 510 Laser Turrets Engines: 2 Imagination Reactors Max Speed: 25,000 MPH Max Hyper Speed: 70% speed of light Personnel: 1 Grand Admiral, 6,000 crew Troops: 7,000 soldiers, 300 pilots Consumables: 2 years Max. 12. Built for the Chibi Micro Contest, hosted by Simon and The Brother's Brick , with the first place prize being a FAN EXPO CANADA EXCLUSIVE STAR WARS SET that I had to literally fight a hundred other people for to secure it for the contest. ;D Last week my dad lent me some Thunderbirds episodes. Can't stop watching, such a good series! A collaborative build between myself and the amazingly talented Dr. Spock. This build is one of two parts, built for the Fairview LEGO®-Brand retail store in Toronto. It's a micro version of Thunderbird 2's Hangar, with a reference image here. The other part (Spoiler: Thunderbird 1's hangar) can be found here. Inspired by The Brother's Brick Micro Chibi contest and The Thunderbird's 50th Anniversary this year (2015). Logo found here. Keep in mind that the ones below were done before the base, which is why some of them may appear different (were "upgraded") in the photo above. The ones in the photo above are the updated versions. 13. Hello, This is my first post so I hope I do everything correctly along the way. I will surely be learning, anyways. Today, I made a small mod that combines two lackluster sets(see title) into one fairly decent set. My original intent was to make more of a drop-ship mechanism but I've always liked keeping official LEGO sets as "pure" as possible. So, hopefully these pictures below are correctly formatted and are sufficiently understandable enough for all of you. I don't think this set is the worst(I'm going to forget about the Green Goblin,) it's got fun play features, looks so crazy it just seems decent. I can just picture SHIELD saying "Alright, we got this experimental Helicopter finished what should we do with it?" and having somebody say "Paint this baby red and blue, kick out the floors, jam some webbing into the sides, paint some logos on it and call it a day." Here is my modification. I removed the black pegs that were originally in the Helicopter and I changed the pegs in the Trike's wheels into a 1x3 peg so that they can attach. It actually doesn't look that bad. It fills in the awkward shapes of everything and makes it cohesive. Like it was intended this way all along. I used the blue pegs because it was all I could find and once the inspiration hit I didn't want to lose it due to my poor part sorting. The blues do have more of a grip so if I pick up the Helicopter it doesn't wiggle around however the wheels do not move freely. When I built the Helicopter I didn't even realize that you put the black pegs into the black underbeam(?). I just thought them moving around was some weird design function. It wasn't until I looked at it one day and thought "wait maybe these pegs go into these holes," also are pegs even the right word? Please tell me anything I could do better for next time whether it be better pictures, better descriptions, etc. Thanks. Edit 1: Well the link I used didn't work so I looked into it and posted each once individually. Hopefully this works now. Edit 2: Okay, now my photos are enourmous and I cannot remove these black bars where my text was supposed to go.

  15. LEGO Ideas - Birds (21301) Review by Adeel Zubair, on Flickr "They will fly off the shelves!" First Impression: When I saw this set for the first time I was very impressed with this set just like any LEGO Ideas set. This is a must have set for any birds enthusiast. These are impressive recreations of three birds seen in different parts of the world. This will be an iconic and popular LEGO set amongst adults. This is one of the LEGO Idea's set that is not based on an IP (Intellectual Property) or a replica, others being the recent Exo-Suit (21109) and Research Institute (21110.) I just want to say a huge thanks to Thomas Poulsom for making this set a reality. Unique Parts: This set contains 3 unique printed 'Flat Tile 2x4' pieces in Black each with the specific bird's name in Latin: Erithacus Rubecula, Cyanocitta Cristata and Colibri Thalassinus. There are recolours of certain pieces which are now exclusive to this set at the time of this review: Plate 2X4X18° (Dark Green), Corner Plate 45 Deg. 3X3 (Dark Green), Tip Of The Tail Ø6,47 (Earth Green), Neck - Tail Link, Ø7.84-Ø6,47 (Earth Green), Plate 1x3 (Medium Blue), Plate 1X2 W. 1 Knob (Medium Blue), Plate 2x3 (Medium Blue), Left Plate 2X4 W/Angle (Medium Blue) and Right Plate 2X4 W/Angle (Medium Blue.) There are also a few rare pieces in this set: Plate 6x16 (Dark Green), Right Plate 3X8 W/Angle (Earth Blue), Left Plate 3X8 W/Angle Earth Blue), Roof Tile 4X2/18° W/Cor. (Earth Green), Brick W/Bow 1/3 (Medium Blue), Plate 1X2 W/Shaft Ø3.2 (Reddish Brown) and Plate 1X2 W. Shaft 12M (Transparent) Something I would like to point out that some ‘Medium Blue’ pieces seem to have two different shades in this set. I don't know why but it may be a quality control issue which does happen sometimes. I found it to be extra useful for different texture as the bird is a natural form. However some people may not like this simply because they may look out of place if the pieces are used for your own creations. Minifigures and Playability: Ha! This set contains no minifigures. These are detailed models of birds for display only. Therefore I don't see young children purchasing this set for any reason besides someone who likes birds or the swoosh factor of the birds. No, the wings don't move but yes each Bird can be easily removed from their display stand. The models are really great display pieces and are just a wonderful piece to adore the details on display. Build Experience: This set contains 5 five numbered bags. 2x Bag 1's for the Robin, 2x Bag 2's for the Blue Jay and 1x Bag 3 for the Hummingbird and flower. It surprisingly contains three instruction booklets (one for each bird.) As always with the LEGO Ideas sets, they are high-quality books containing the building instructions, information on the LEGO Ideas platform and background information about the set and its original creator. It took me an average of 25 minutes per bird to assemble together. This set was designed by the very talented Steen Sig Andersen who has been with The LEGO Group for a very long time and it really shows. He has provided each bird with its own unique SNOT (Studs Not On Top) techniques and very thoughtful engineering which makes the models really strong and durable. Each Bird has its own stand very similar to the architecture stands but this time we have the green grass with a small pedestal for the birds to fit on. In front of the pedestal we have the printed 'Flat Tile 2x4' with the name of the specific bird which keeps them partly hidden and at the edge of the base we have a ‘San Yellow’ finish to possibly represent wood. The set was very enjoyable to put together and I learned a few new techniques along the way which was quite surprising since I'm a pretty experienced builder. Value for Money: This retails for £39.99 in the UK and contains 580 pieces. It's hard to judge this set because it contains three different builds. Each bird with stand works out £13.33 each so that's fairly respectable plus with the high quality box and instructions booklets is definitely worth £39.99 compared with other models LEGO has released in the past. It's a set that will sky rocket in the aftermarket, you would rather purchase this whenever you get the chance since it has a limited production run like any other LEGO Ideas set. This set is only available at LEGO Stores and Shop.LEGO.com Display Attributes: Since this set is built with three separate models I will discuss each model in depth. The Erithacus Rubecula also known as the Robin has been exquisitely rendered with the whole profile and shape capturing the exact shape of a Robin. Unlike the other models it's not smoothed out to try to hide the studs. Instead they have expressed and proudly shown the studs through 80% of the model. It's really great they have exposed the studs to capture what LEGO really is and how its simple brick can be constructed into a beautiful natural form, which isn't seen often. As I examine the photograph I can see that the Robin is orange, light brown, tan, grey and white. I understand that having several colours on a model of this scale could easily take away from the model, but I was surprised they didn't use orange instead of the red but to be honest I saw the original in person and it didn't look right with the brown. I like how the belly of the Robin is built like a Lowell Sphere. One advantage with this compared with other birds is that the Robin can stand on its two very small feet without extra support, again heads up to Steen for some really great engineering techniques used. This model has to be the highlight of the set. The stand is also well designed, you can turn the Technic axle 360° to suit the owners needs of display and it can also be easily be separated. I don't like that the Technic axle wiggles, I feel they are under a lot of pressure underneath the weight of the model. I have two complaints which I have with most LEGO sets: when having SNOT techniques used in a LEGO set is requires you to assemble an opposite colour to the brick/s it will attached on to. In this case the white and brown is showing though a small gap above the assembly of the red belly of the Robin. It's a natural form so I won't complain too much but I have seen it many times in other sets. Yes LEGO have to use as many simple and primary colours in the internal structure of any model to make it easier for the builder to find the pieces when constructing a set. Additionally the black ‘Plate 1X2 W. Vertical Grip’ that have used to attach the Robin's wings which could've been brown but I guess in this case it can represent shadow and depth. Another example is the Technic axle going through the underside of the Robin could have been transparent, now it seems as if it's part of the Robin. Which doesn’t look right? I like that the scale is pretty close to the real bird and it also make these models feel like your personal pets. The Blue Jay (Cyanocitta Cristata) is once again rendered well but this build also has minor problems. Main reason is in some angles you can see right through the bird but to be honest when it's on the stand you can barely notice. Comparing this model to the photograph provided in the instruction booklet. You can clearly see that all black pieces should have been ‘Earth Blue' besides the beak. I feel cheated and I would have preferred them to be 'Earth Blue' I don't understand why LEGO had to be lazy and choose black instead. That's one big problem I have with this assembly. The final bird is the Hummingbird (Colibri Thalassinus) which sits on a ‘Plate 6x16’ for the additional flower assembly. The flower is an interesting but simple. It's nice to see another large natural form in this set beside a couple of birds. Referencing back to the photograph I can see that a Hummingbird also has yellow and blue but would look out of place with the presented scale like the Robin. The brown 'Plate' would have been nice in transparent but I may be mistaken, but it could be its feet? The two sloped 'Earth Green' bricks that were used to hide most of the back of the plates is a great addition however it's only conned by one Technic pin which means doesn't stay still. Fan Model Vs. Final Product: All three models are very well recreated and are pretty similar to the original fan creation. The only differences are the internal structure and the way the models are presented. I do prefer the way the final product displays the birds because they look or presentable. Steen has done a wonderful job of staying true to Tom’s original design and has done them justice as a worldwide product. Final Analysis/ Conclusion: Overall this set it is a must have set for adults. It has its flaws like any other set: the grey Technic axle used between the Robin and tree branch, black pieces used instead of ‘Earth Blue’ for the Blue Jay and the loose ‘Earth Green’ pieces of the Hummingbird. Anyway the models are impressive recreations and would make a great gift for any adult or birds enthusiast. Quick Summary: Parts: 5 - Good quantity of common and semi rare colours from a parts perspective. Playability: 3 - Each bird can be easily removed from their display stand and be swooshed around if you so desire. Building Experience: 4.5 - A few interesting SNOT techniques are used, although some parts of the build are a bit repetitive but still enjoyable. Value for Money: 5 - At first the price may seem high however the models of the birds are very attractive. With a price tag of £39.99 you cannot go wrong. Overall: 5 - It has one or two problems that come from the deep vaults of LEGO but besides that I can only judge the build on its own merits. The models are impressive recreations and would make a great gift for any adult or birds enthusiast. 16. Hey guys! This is my first entry to this year’s CCC, to the Fairy Tale Castle Category. It’s Rapunzel’s Tower. According to the original story written by the Brother’s Grimm, Rapunzel was a beautiful girl, locked up by an evil witch on a tower with no doors or stairs located deep in the forest. After a year or two, it came to pass that the Prince rode through the forest and went by the tower. He heard a song which was so lovely that he stood still and listened. This was Rapunzel who in her loneliness passed her time singing. The Prince wanted to climb up to her, and looked for the door of the tower, but none was to be found… The rest, you all know… :p It was a HUGE pain to photograph a MOC this size. The lighting never seemed right and in honesty I don´t think the photos do justice to this build, but I di9d the best I could :/ Some photos: Rapunzel's Tower Rapunzel's Tower Rapunzel's Tower
  17. Not much is known about Malcumus Erlond. People know he is a druid and a mysterious man, that lives in the old cottage on Death Cliff Island. People often say too, that is has a magic potion that turns anyone into a very smart person! Marcus and Gairbert are not smart… At all… And they decided to try and reach the cottage on top of the cliff and steal the potion from Malcumus and become the 2 smartest persons of the country… Would they be successful? :b Hey guys, this is my 6th and final entry to the CCC, to The Merry Band category. Hope you like it. Ho and I would totally live there :b Malcumus Erlond Cottage Malcumus Erlond Cottage Malcumus Erlond Cottage
  18. Hello Eurobrickers! For a long time, walked behind me the idea to build a tow truck, the more so that more and more the tow truck appears in the BS gallery, so I decided to build it myself. However, my favorite version, americkan style. I long it goes down, but overall I'm happy with the results of their work. Of course, the tow truck will be fully motorized. I told myself that the car will be after 3 lockers for equipment on each side, flashing light beacons of his own design, active fake 8 V engine and, above all, the main functions of the tug, and so drive, steering, outriggers, winch, towing arm with folding and rotating fork and a tower with a sliding and lifting the boom, which is still under construction all the time. For photos I used so far, the boom of a set of 42009, although I admit that even quite well with the tow truck. The outriggers for now can lift a model, but as it's ready, I suppose it will be too heavy to support the tow truck. We will see in the future. Initially, it was the drive on 2 axles, but changed it to 3. The lifting arm of the towing I wanted to use a large Linear Actuator, but it took too much space, so it is on a small Linear Actuator. And so far it looks the effect of my building.
  19. Hi everyone! This is my entry for the Expand The Winter Village contest, hope you like it! When the first snow is coming, Santa starts his old train. He goes around the neighbouring villages and gives hot chocolate and cake to people, who want to have a rest, among the many challenges they have before Christmas. Happy Holidays! Thanks for visiting!
  20. Deep in the forest, Vyell Henion stumbles across a very strange house. A house built in a very big and ancient tree… She heard about this ancient tree and the old lady that leaves there many times... The urge to knock is big… So guys, this is my 5th entry to the CCC,to the small miscellaneous category. It didn’t turned out quite well as I wanted but this was a rush build as I wanted to make one more. I love this concept and I will build more like this for sure when I have more time. Enjoy! 21. Hi guys This is the “Etheldreed Windmill” my 3rd entry for the CCC, Medieval Husbandry category, and also a freebuild to GoH. The mighty lands of Avalonia are home to many water and windmills, and perhaps the most known is the “Etheldreed Windmill”, where all kinds of cereals are milled to feed the nearby small villages. Being away from the forests, so it can catch strong winds, this windmill is an iconic landmark of Vanhorn Region. CC is welcome. I had to photograph this one with only artificial lighting so the pics came out a little dark. Enjoy
  22. I remember when I'd bought at least one of these three LEGO TECHNIC sets, that I think there was some special model you could make using parts gathered from all three of these sets. They are: 8815 Speedway Bandit 8820 Mountain Rambler 8825 Night Chopper I just wish I remembered what it was. All three of these kits were released in 1991. ~Ben

I also would like it if you could share some modifications that you put on your horizon express trains. Thx

    [REVIEW]: 75080 AAT

Set Name: AAT Set #: 75080 Theme: Star Wars Pieces: 251 Minifigures: 3 Year of Release: 2015 MSRP: USD $24.99 INTRODUCTION Unfortunately, as a child who was just beginning to appreciate the magical world of LEGO, I missed out on the original 2000 AAT. And then I was in my LEGO dark ages when the 2009 revision was released. When I found out that LEGO would be releasing another AAT in 2015, I couldn't wait to see the first preliminary pictures after many years of waiting to finally get my hands on an AAT (which I might add is one of the few prequel vehicles I actually like). And when those first pictures of the 2015 AAT leaked, it was immediately welcomed with hate and criticism on the internet. People did not like its beefy hull, its small stature, and the minifigure selection. After the full-sized (but in my opinion over-sized) 2009 Clone Wars AAT, a lot of people felt like this was a step down. However, I did my best to remain optimistic. I was relieved it was based on the Episode I version, since I don't like it painted blue as much as tan, and the smaller size meant less pain on my wallet! Given its low price and my yearning to have an AAT in my collection, I decided to be an early adopter of this set and experience it for myself. Here is the back of the box, which features photos demonstrating the play features, as well as a bunch of CGI pictures of the minifigures interacting, which I don't think I've seen on box art before. Here are the contents of the box. We get three numbered bags, one loose piece, and one instruction manual. Thankfully, there is no sticker sheet (although one could argue this set actually needed stickers, which I'll get to later). MINIFIGURES I don't think anyone will be buying this set for the figures. It comes with 2 battle droids and Jar Jar Binks, none of which are new designs. For a while, people thought the battle droids would have new arms, but I can confirm that they do not. While all of the figures included make sense for the set, it would have been nice to get a new, exclusive figure such as Boss Nass. Here is a plain battle droid with a blaster, which I'm sure we all have by now. Here is the pilot battle droid, another figure I'm sure many of us already have in our collection. Given what this set is though, an AAT needs battle droids for functioning, so it's hard to complain about their inclusion. And finally, we have Jar Jar Binks, which I've read is the same version as the one included in the 2011 Battle of Naboo set. He carries his Gungan shield and weapon. Somehow, this is actually my first Jar Jar Binks minifigure. Finally, my Lego SW minifigure collection is complete... THE BUILD To give you an idea of what the build was like, I took a photo after each bag. Here is the vehicle after the first bag: After the second bag: And after the third and final bag: THE AAT: Here we can see the AAT's profile, which I think pretty accurately captures the design of the tank, especially given the scale. From the front, we can see the "chubbiness" of the hull which many complained about, and the GLARING lack of the six frontal launch tubes. As much as I hate stickers, this set really could have benefited by having them (or better yet printed pieces) that depict the front launchers. However, the spring-loaded shooters are concealed, which is nice. There's not much to see in the back, aside from the mechanism used to shoot the launchers, which is similar to many of the 2015 sets. The pilot can fit comfortably in the center of the tank, even when holding his gun. And the other battle droid can fit in the turret, but its pretty tight, and he cannot hold his gun (but why would he anyway?) Boy, that looks like a comfortable position! The top of the tank, if you're curious: And because I also have the 2014 MTT and plan on displaying them together, here is how they look next to each other: Not bad, not bad at all. (IMHO ) And here it is next to the 2014 Advent Calendar AAT. Take that, anyone who thinks this one is small! CONCLUSION AND RATINGS Minifigures: 5/10 - The figs are pretty boring and none of them are new, but they make sense for inclusion in the set. It just would have been nice to get an exclusive fig to give this set more selling power. Parts: 8/10 - There are tan pieces, lots of them. I like tan. I like it more than the blue of the Clone Wars version of the tank. Build: 8/10 - It was a fast and simple build, but with a set this small, that's pretty standard. Price: 10/10 - Given the number of pieces (251) and the price ($24.99) that pretty much hits the golden ratio perfectly, and I while I think $20 would make this set much more tempting for some people, I do think $25 is fair considering the original one was $20 15 years ago and contained far less pieces. Design: 9/10 - I am positive that a lot of you will disagree with this rating, but given the scale of this set, I think the LEGO designers did a pretty good job of re-creating the tank at this size. It's not blocky like the original and its not on steroids like the 2009 version. Yes, its small, but I don't mind that. The AAT isn't supposed to be a giant vehicle. The only deduction I took off of the design score was the lack of frontal launch tubes. Playability: 9/10 - As a toy, this is very playable. You get a turret that spins a full 360 degrees, spring-loaded launchers, and minifigures representing both the "good guys" and "bad guys". What more can you ask for? Overall: 82% - I'm sure many of you will disagree with this score given how much hate this set has gotten on the internet, but honestly, I like this set a lot. I'm happy with it, and while I won't deny that it is indeed small, I think it captures the design of the AAT very well, and its smaller stature makes it both easier to store for display and open to the possibility of buying multiples for building an army. I really dislike the fact it does not have any frontal launchers which I think is an essential part of the AAT, but I suppose stickers on curved pieces are a pain anyway. If you already have 7155 or 8018, there's probably little reason to get this set, but if you're like me and don't have any AATs yet, I honestly think its worth grabbing. If you have the MTT, if compliments it nicely, and at $25, its hardly an investment. All in all, even if I'm the only one that feels this way, I'm glad LEGO made this set, and I think it makes a nice addition to any SW prequel collection. As I said about the 2014 MTT in my review, I doubt these will be flying off of shelves given the timing of its release (although I only saw one at the Target I found it at), but the low price will make it tempting for many, unlike the MTT. Hope you enjoyed reading this!
