[MOD] 70790 Lord of Skull Spiders

Lord of Skull Spiders MOD by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Hi all! I was kind of bored yesterday, so I decided to have a crack at improving the Lord of Skull Spiders in LDD, constructing the original set using just a parts list and whatever pictures I could find of the set on Eurobricks and BZPower (first time I've actually built a set this complex without instructions), before making a few modifications and improvements. The main modification here is to the legs - here I've added an extra ball joint to each leg for much improved poseability in the real model. The abdomen handle has been filled out a little whilst retaining the function squeeze handle, and exposed balljoints have been put to good use to fill out and shape the model a bit more. The model you see in the picture was rendered using LDD2POV-Ray. Post-processing through Photoshop was applied to add LOSS' face since the chestplate does not accept decoration. For those of you interested in using this for the basis of your own modifications, I provide the LDD file here. A few things to note about the LXF file however: it's missing the rubber band which is vital for the leg function. Wherever I use a black 3M axle (2 instances), this actually is supposed to represent the new 2M axle piece with pin (picture of it here, the piece on the left) which appears in LOSS (but having built a replica of the mechanism myself, a 3M axle would also work in it's place). I'm aware the trans-orange colour is all wrong as trans-neon orange does not appear to be in LDD. And the pose achieved in the render probably isn't possible in real life as the mechanism is set at an almost closed position due to LDD limitations (I couldn't get the knob gears to mesh properly at any angle except right angles!). The design is open to further modification (I intend to add a hook and string to the abdomen to let it hang once I get hold of the set itself), and while building this I realised you can just as easily build a trans-light blue (in place of the trans-neon orange) version so I might upload what that would look like to my Flickr a bit later. Thanks for looking!
  2. Hi All, Just sharing a modification of the LEGO Bike Shop & Café set. My kid liked the original advanced build of the set but somehow it was a little too cramped even when opened up. We additionally tried the easy and medium builds to see how it felt but somehow it still lacked room to play. So we decided to revisit the whole concept of the Bike Shop & Café and modularize it. The concept of the modification is to merge the Bike shop and Café as one establishment allowing us to make a 2nd floor loft apartment, which meant more space across the board. We reused alot of the interior pieces from the original set which were really nice. We kept it to two floors to keep it relatively small, which gave us an opportunity to make a nice end lot to place with other modulars. Unfortunately we couldn't stick to just the original pieces so we had to use various additional pieces we had, a 32x32 baseplate and alot of 2x2 tiles for the pavement. My kid enjoys it and somehow prefers the removable floors vs the open-up approach. As there's alot more detail in this build and I can't put up too many images you can check it out here. http://www.boxtoy.co...isited-moc.html Hope you guys like it.
  3. I've been Spamming the Bionicle 2015 thread with attempts at a compact build that utilizes the Fire Protector's chest build. I believe I have finally succeeded. I invite others to show their alternate builds! BTW I don't have a protector yet, I'm still waiting. This is the back of course.. I was happy to be able to fit in a hood shell to sit behind the head and break up that neck area.
  4. Hi everyone! It's my first post in this forum, though this build is probably one of the oldest that I have. Basically, it is a rather heavily modified 4x4 from the 2008 Gold Hunt set. I went for larger wheels and added a few bricks at the back as well as a machine gun. I also tried to make the color scheme a bit more serious, which means that I probably used a couple of pieces that don't exist in those colors. Anyway, I hope you like it, comments and critique are also welcome. If you wish to have an .lxf file, you can get it here.

[MOD] The Ender Dragon from 21117

Hello all! First off, I would like to state that I don't play Minecraft, so my reference material was basically poor quality screengrabs of the Ender dragon from a Google image search. But even though I don't play Minecraft, I couldn't help but be attracted to the Ender Dragon from set 21117. But, after reading VBBN's insightful review on the set, I realised it had problems, and it inspired me to chalk up a slightly more accurate and poseable modification of the Ender Dragon in the set in LDD. This is what I've come up with: Minecraft - The Ender Dragon (21117 mod) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Basically, gone are most of the hinge plates and they've been replaced with Mixel balljoints to enable more dynamic poses. The legs especially annoyed me as in the previous model, if you bent the legs outwards, the dragon was basically standing on the edges of it's feet, now at least partially fixed by the use of Mixel balljoints. Until the Mixel balljoints are made in black though, black 1x2, 2x2 inverted brackets had to be used in order to maintain more of it's colour homogenity. But the biggest difference is the fact that I have got rid of the flapping wing function in the model and have given it more realistic brick built wings. If you would like to mod your own Ender Dragon to look like this one or use it as a starting point for your own mods, then here is the LDD file for that purpose. All parts do exist, though please be aware that the old style hinges used in the wings either don't exist or are very rare in light bluish gray (but common in the old light grey), and the model should work in real life. Please ignore the random decorations, they were used for the purposes of giving the Ender Dragon it's proper decals in the render. Comments are welcome!

    10197 Fire Brigade Mod

Hi, that's my Mod of 10197 set, i have some problems uploading several photos, so if you'd like to see full gallery in high quality go here https://www.flickr.c...57647423541279/
  7. DSCF0316 by Only Sinner, on Flickr This is my 9464 MOD, the car is not a perfect MOC as I wanted to make it an alternate build, so I only used pieces from the set. I liked the set a whole lot, but It really needed some better design. DSCF0314 by Only Sinner, on Flickr The car rode too high as is, so I proceeded to lower it. On real vehicles, this is called channeling. DSCF0313 by Only Sinner, on Flickr The top was lowered way down to create a more appealing roofline. This is the basic chop top. DSCF0317 by Only Sinner, on Flickr As you can see, it sits low and very agressive. DSCF0318 by Only Sinner, on Flickr The set came with the GITD sticker, but it would have clashed with the intended aesthetic. DSCF0315 by Only Sinner, on Flickr Hope you enjoyed my simple MOD.

    MOC/MOD: Rapunzel's Tower Room

I wasn't best impressed with the official tower set for varied reasons. So, with a little bit of a look at the Art of Tangled and a lot of building and rebuilding, I created a playset/MOC that fitted with what I thought it should look like. I left plenty of play space inside on a dollhouse play principal. The steps, chair and stove from the original set still feature. The window is super important to the story, so I simply transferred it wholly into my new build. I left a nice wide space at the 'front' for further play. At the back is a bed and there are a few other little details placed, hobbies mentioned in the song When Will my Life Begin? I do wish there was an official LEGO produced acoustic guitar though! The Friends guitar had to make do. The back view isn't so exciting. The bed is inside this turret. It will be very easy to build a tower for this room to sit on, maybe that will be the next thing to try. Maybe a little landscaping at the base and such... Thoughts? Comments? Critque?
  9. This first model is a mash-up of the 2013 Palace Cinema (set number 10232) car and the car from 2002 Escape from Privet Drive. (set number 4728) I added a new cabin roof with bigger windows and made the car in more colors. These variations include: Tan, Red, White, Black, Dark Bluish Gray. Each car has 4 seats and a steering wheel now too, but it still can't seat figures. Here we see the tan version. Rear view. LDD file with all the colors included: http://www.mocpages....1413071878m.lxf This second car model was inspired by the 2008 set 10200, Custom Car Garage. I made the red convertible into a brown coupe. I have updated the model and LDD file because some parts of the old MOC were did not exist in the right colors, so I fixed them. The rear features the tail lights and license plate. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1428415439m.lxf This car is based off the CARS 2 character "Acer" from set 9484, Red's Water Rescue, a 2012 set. It uses a mix of dark bluish gray and lime to give it the peeling paint look. the car is EXTREMELY tiny, being about the same size as the LEGO cars from the 1990's, except this model seats no mini-figures. This car was built in real life first, then recreated in LDD, which is a fairly rare occurrence for me. it is also build able without the dark bluish gray bricks for an all lime green color scheme fresh from the Factory floor. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1412897086m.lxf The inspiration for this next model (and basis for most of it's design) was the 2002 Harry Potter set 4728, Escape from Privet Drive. The car is build-able in five colors: Red, White Yellow, Black, and Medium Blue. Shown here is the medium blue version. The rear view features an opening trunk, which is a much larger version of the one included in set 4728. LDD file for all the colors of this car: http://www.mocpages....1409862897m.lxf This next car is a modified set version of the S.H.I.E.L.D. car from 76004. (Spider Man: Spider Cycle Chase) I took out the hover wheels and removed the flick-fire launcher mechanism. I then grouped the parts I added to the model to make it easier to build. Personally, this car makes me think of a 1980's sports car. The rear of the car features some neat partially covered wheels. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1416423876m.lxf This model is a modified version of the 2014 set 76015, Dock Ock Truck Heist. It was inspired by eurotrash48903 and his own MOD of the set to be 7 wide. I didn't change it quite as much as him, but I did follow his lead in several spot, such as shortening the frame by 2 studs and getting rid of the ridiculously oversized original wheels. The roof and front have been strengthened and a door added to the rear, as their was none before. rear view showcasing the door and rear fender. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1411148366m.lxf Here is a classic 1950's pickup truck: Based on one half of the 2013 Holiday exclusive, this truck features several improvements over the original. It's cab features two seats instead of one, and the paint scheme has been changed to plain black. You can also see the brake lights are located just under the tailgate. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1416927610m.lxf 1969 Volkswagen micro-bus This particular van is currently owned by the Collectible Mini figures (Series 7) Hippie, and his girlfriend. Built and modified from a PDF of the LEGO Rock Band bus, but in red instead of orange. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1416926983m.lxf 1980's Yellow Taxicab I recommend you listen to 1970's singer / songwriter Harry Chapin's songs "TAXI" & "SEQUEL" when building this model. Dual exhaust and fancy tail-lights feature on this model. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1416926658m.lxf (Two of these are need for the roof sign: http://www.bricklink....asp?P=4865pb42 ) 1950's Fire truck I was inspired to build this by CARS set 9484, Red's Water Rescue. I replaced the eyes with trans-black tiles and cheese slopes, while adding a grille where the mouth was. I also beefed up the rear, and removed the flick-fire missiles. The side of the truck features two hoses (one for each side) and the roof has a ladder. The sides also feature 4 hose hookups (that's the pearl gold 1x1 round studs) and two identical pump controls. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1416965118m.lxf Modern Double deck bus (yellow) Inspired by the design of the red bus in set 60026 (Town Square) and the yellow bus in set 7641 (City Corner), this double deck bus can seat 14 mini-figures, including the driver. It features a modular design, and has two doors: one at the front for entering, and one at the rear for exiting. (My brother Austin inspired this mod by giving me the idea for the double deck bus in yellow. He made one in red which he has not uploaded yet. Link to his mocpage: http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/94191 ) The modular design makes figure placement a lot easier. Oh, and by the way: The yellow 1x2 tile at the front under the engine grille is supposed to be printed like this piece: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=3069bpb162 LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1417396825m.lxf 1960's Moving truck This model was originally set number 4000008, otherwise known as LEGO Inside Tour (LIT) Exclusive 2013 Edition – Villy Thomsen Truck. (link: http://www.bricklink...asp?S=4000008-1 ) I repainted it a more common-place black & gray instead of red, yellow, blue & light gray. It now features a enclosed cab, and better-looking side mirrors. The top of the cargo compartment comes off allowing for access to the interior. The rear features a trailer hookup although no trailer is included in the LDD file. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1418836166m.lxf 1950's left-hand drive Double Deck bus (black & red) This was originally Scotnick's 7-studs-wide Bridgemaster Bus. I painted it in black and red for Brick Railway Systems and made into left hand drive for use in America. The bus also sports an enlarged upper deck, and a revised front windscreen. The red stripes on the upper deck are destination boards. This model is 100% build-able. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1418417217m.lxf 1950's American Sedan I was inspired to build this model after seeing the dark red half-track / truck in this set: http://brickset.com/...overcraft-Chase The model looked easy to duplicate, but it proved difficult to create an exact copy. I then decided to take it in a another direction and create a regular American 1950's car, complete with tail fins and two rows of seating. The model features two rows of seating and opening doors, (a rarity on my models!) tail fins, and "double" tail lights. (I used a trans-red grille to create a nice effect.) The jumper plate on the rear bumper is supposed to represent a tailpipe and the white 1x2 tile is a license plate. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1418836486m.lxf 1970's Volkswagen Beetle Built from these old instructions by Whoward 69. (link: https://www.flickr.c...57624191463040/ ) I converted this 5 wide car to a hardtop and replaced the wide original wheels with a more Beetle-like solid disc. I also changed the color to yellow instead of green and added a license plate at the back. The car seats 1 mini figure. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1417396431m.lxf 1960's Tow Truck I have modified Tom Netherton's 1969 Chevy C10 Tow truck to suit my tastes. I modified the rear view mirrors, added a different style hook assembly, and removed the doors. (Here is the original model by Tom: https://www.flickr.c...57645284487353/ ) The rear of the truck features a new hook / crane arm. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1420396040m.lxf 1950's left-hand drive double deck bus This is Scotnick's Bridgemaster (UK) bus painted reddish brown and heavily modified to have left hand drive. The model is 7 wide, 24 studs long, and 12 2/3 bricks tall. It even features a handrail at the rear entrance. As an interesting side note, there are 27 1x2x2 trans-clear panels on the bus, along with two brick-built rear windows and the front windscreen. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1420233991m.lxf 4-wide police car Inspired by set World City set 7030, (Squad Car, link: http://www.bricklink...em.asp?S=7030-1 ) this car is a modern update to that 12 year old set. (man am I old!) This model features an extended frame and new wheels, courtesy of the CARS theme. I built this model for my Brother, Austin, for use on his town. The interior can seat one figure and features a steering wheel. The rear bumper also features a licence plate. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1422742404m.lxf Anglia 105E - Black This car type is famous for being used in the movie "Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets". In real life, this car type was built from 1959 - 1968. The engine was a straight in-line four cylinder, and the body came in 2 door saloon, 3 door estate & 2 door panel van. I built the LEGO version in LEGO Digital Designer and real life. The rear of the car features a non-opening trunk made to look like the original set 4728 model. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1425155138m.lxf 1950's delivery truck This model was partially inspired by set 10222, Winter Village Post Office. I took the original model and enclosed the rear storage space and added a new front bumper / engine area. The model seats 1 mini-figure and has doors in the rear for storage. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1428181942m.lxf US Postal van This mail van was inspired by Dacta - Town set number 9333 (link: http://www.bricklink...em.asp?S=9333-1 ) The set features a bunch of vehicles, one of which is a red mail van, which I stretched out, changed the colors, and added letters to the side. (these are supposed to be signs, not actual letters) This model was also partially inspired by the United States Postal service vans I have in my area. The rear features two tail lights and a license plate. The rear doors do open and there is space to hold stuff in there. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1423179965m.lxf Bob's 1970's Nexus force - themed car Since the last time I showed off this car, I relocated the rear-view mirrors, raised the front by a plate, and added this piece to the rear: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=15068pb004 Here is the rear of the car. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1430493388m.lxf Benny's 1950's Classic Space - themed car I was inspired to build this model after seeing the dark red half-track / truck in set 60071, Hovercraft Arrest. The model looked easy to duplicate, but it proved difficult to create an exact copy. I then decided to take it in a another direction and create a generic American 1950's car, which eventually got turned into this version of Benny's Classic Space themed automobile. The model features a row of space-ship styled seats and "double" tail lights. (I used a trans-red grille to create a nice effect.) the white tile above the rear bumper is supposed to be Benny's license plate. This part goes on the sloped rear of the car: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=30363pb021 LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1434990478m.lxf 1930's streamlined car This model was inspired by the recent announcement of the Super Man "Action Comics Number 1" exclusive 2015 LEGO set. I eyeballed the model and faithfully recreated it, but it was severely lacking in several areas so I enhanced it by extending the frame about two studs, and added bigger wheels. I then redid the bumper and passenger cabin, which required a new 4 x 8 roof, which is longer than the original 4 x 6 piece. The rear features two tail-lights and a license plate. It can also seat one mini-figure in the drivers seat. NOTE: The rear of the model actually features a 2 x 2 trans clear slope instead of the two 1 x 2 slopes seen here. 9v or PF or both?

Hello all! New here to Eurobricks and the whole AFOL Trains community in general. I have noticed that there there are essentially two different train systems the 9v (runs on metal rails using a DC current from a transformer like a normal model railroad) and then Power Functions. I unfortunately don't have any of either to experiment with but I was just thinking would it be possible to merge the two and create a kind of DCC system? (Digital Command Control - current standard for powering and controlling model railroads) What I mean is this, you have the PF system that uses a battery pack, IR or RF receiver to power either a "train motor" or another motor that uses Technick gears etc, to power the wheels. Could not one remove the actual motor from the 9v train motor housing and use the metal wheels as contacts to pass the current through from the metal track to your PF control system? This way you would not have to break your layout into Power Districts and you would be able to run multiple trains on the same line under completely different control. Each train would be controlled by it's unique PF controller yet pulling the same current from the rails. Essentially moving the battery pack from a pack of batteries in the locomotive or tender and placing it in the rails where you no longer have to worry about charging or bringing extra batteries. I haven't been around long enough to see of you guys are doing this yet or not, but just thought I'd throw it out there. As I stated, I unfortunately don't have either system (or trains) to experiment with but will as soon as I have the coin. I recently downloaded LDD and built an MOC that I designed to run in either system or both. I've always been an FOL and trains but never have been able to bring the two together until I downloaded LDD. Let me know what you think of combining both 9v and PF and I'd love some feedback on my MOC in the link below. I went for detail so it turned out to be about to scale so wider and I'm sure taller than the standard size, though still on the Lego standard gauge track. Cheers! https://www.flickr.com/photos/128636628@N08/

    (MOD) 75053 - The Ghost

Hello all, my very first post here on the forums. I recently purchased the Ghost from Star Wars Rebels and felt the set didn't really do the ship justice, hence I played around with modding her. I decided to extend the cockpit section longer by 2 stubs, and smoothening the slope on her dorsal side. Also made big changes to her under belly, basically covering the big holes in the under hull and making the landing pad housings taller. Lastly i removed the detachable feature of the Phantom, and modified her aft hull to fill up the space on the Ghost. Pls do leave some comments on what you guys think. Am kinda new to this :

  13. Hi. Thought I'd shove up my very first MOC / MOD. It's heavily influenced by the Daily Bugle and I did it as an exercise to see if I was capable of performing the strange mathematics / engineering / voodoo necessary to wrangle a modular out of an existing set. I chose to do a news building first as I have a (hardly updated) blog that mirrors the 'LEGO NEWS' 2x2 tile in terms of design, so making the office in which the blog is written added to the fun. Inside is a bit sparse to be frank - the bottom floor is supposed to be a chilled, corporate looking, swish lobby in which members of the public can grab a coffee and be interviewed for the paper. A flight of stairs leads to the white walled workhouse, in which the poorly paid staff slave away. Overlooking this is a mezzanine level, where the editor in chief gets to bark at his staff from above. A ladder leads from there onto the split level roof, just in case the place bursts into flames or whatnot! (the place is, after all, a hotbed of activity). I did have a better picture of the front of the building but the windows were filthy... lol I'll find some better photos if there's any interest in the project. Overall, it was great fun to do and I'm now hooked on making modulars. PS - hope I've got the posting of images correct in terms of netiquette here... [MOC/MOD] A.I.M Lab.

This is my another modularized superheroes building. The building is based on '76018 : Hulk Lab Smash'. Some parts of Knowhere Escape Mission (76020) were used for the roof. I used most bricks from Lego store pick-a-brick except those products. It is a still work in progress. I need some plates and tiles to complete it. 15. Yet another modification of the 9398, a 4x4 crawler that I just got as a birthday present just a week or two ago (as of 03/10/2014). So mod after mod it ended up becoming a somewhat MOC. This has been widened by 2 studs, has hightened ground clearance and has been given a new body. Compared to the original 9398 it has a much lower COG and better clearance, and climbs better too! Differentials are fitted with rubber, to act as much as a limited slip diff. VIDEO: Old stuff More old stuff
  16. This model is a modified version of the 2014 set 76015, Dock Ock Truck Heist. It was inspired by eurotrash48903 and his own MOD of the set to be 7 wide. Those parts are the ones that come in the 76015 Dock Ock Truck Heist set. The UN-grouped parts are the ones that I modded the truck with.
  17. Modifying the Spiderman Doc Ock Truck for City use I can't resist a bargain and in my local supermarket they had the Lego 76015 Doc Ock Truck Heist marked down by 33%. I thought at the very least I could use it as a parts pack. It's a straightforward enough build and has plenty of playability - exploding roofs, catapulted swinging spiderman and a dextrous Doc Ock, but good grief there was no way it was going to fit into my City! The wheels are massive! The rear wheel positioning is bizarre and the whole thing looks obviously like it came from a comic book (I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised by that ) So, I dumped the comically large wheels, reduced the wheel span by three studs by moving the rear wheels away from the very back of the truck and reduced the overall length by two. I reworked the front end to give it a more modern feel and tweaked the color scheme. I lost the exploding roof function and cleaned up the roof line. Here's a comparison of the original wheel base and those clownish wheels to this new version One final shot So, what's the point of this post? I suppose it's seek out bargains and modify them to suit your needs. I know I'll be looking for other vehicles to mod - after I've turned this one into a 7-wide one. Edit: I reworked the front end to make it less blocky, turned the back shell of the truck into 7-wide by using jumper plates. I also increased the overall height by 1 plate and cleaned up the roof line.
  18. I was rather dissatisfied with the stock 42000 model - it was silly to have to twist the knob so much to do anything and not very realistic. So I took out that entire system and added a pneumatic Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) that turns on with the actuation of a lever. The air can be used to fill an tank which can be used for the Drag reduction System (DRS), or can be used directly for the DRS without going through the tank. I wanted to be able to have the DRS work without moving the car, so I added a manual pump that can only fill the tank. The tank can be connected or disconnected from the system as desired so that you do not have to fill the tank when pushing the car, but can still use it. I also eliminated the linear actuators for the engine cover - and replaced them with a spring loaded mechanism which holds it open and locks it shut - much more convenient and I think more clever than the actuators. This image shows the pneumatic circuit and all of the inner workings. The final engine bay with everything packaged. I had to remove two of the exhaust pipes - but they were a bit silly since its a V8 which should have 8 primarys not 6 - so I am calling them secondarys for which 4 is the correct number. The bottom view. In my opinion, these MODs add a ton of playability. I would like to make a video, but am unsure when I will have the time. The DRS is waaay faster - more like real F1 cars.
  19. yes yes, i know im probably not the first to make it black, but i did it with a bunch of the black 3X11 panels from the batman tumbler. easy mod to do, but it looks awesome imo. and with 9396
  20. "Clang, clang, clang went the trolleyDing, ding, ding went the bell" - The trolley song (as sung by Judy Garland in the movie "Meet me in St Louis".) This 1930's PCC (Presidents’ Conference Committee) streamlined streetcar was originally designed in LEGO by Flickr user jwolfe7. I copied some of the design using his helpful instructions and added side skirts inspired by James Mathis' design from over a decade ago. Combined together, these features provided the groundwork for this streetcar, which is in 1940's St. Louis Public Service Company colors. The James Mathis-designed wheels can turn a complete 360 degrees. There is a slight gap between the car-body and wheel-set, but that is a price to pay for this design. See here for the original Brickshelf page for the wheels, dating from 2002. Here is the rear of the car. The pole on top of the car moves up and down signifying when the car is in operation (pole up and in contact with the "wires") while down represents the car is not in operation due to technical problems or in storage in the car barn. Below in the spoiler tag you will find my original version of this car from 2014. The LDD file for the newer version is here. Comments, question and complaints welcome!

    [MOD] CHI Panthar

Hello again all! Haven't done these for a while, but I recently picked up a second 70208 CHI Panthar at a discount the other day, so I thought I'd mod a set that I already thought was good using only the parts you get in 2 copies of 70208 CHI Panthar: Front: LEGO 70208 CHI Panthar MOD (1) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Side: LEGO 70208 CHI Panthar MOD (2) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Back: LEGO 70208 CHI Panthar MOD (3) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Action pose: LEGO 70208 CHI Panthar MOD (4) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Modifications concentrate on the neck, torso and arms really (I thought the legs were fine as they were), including: Ditching the asymmetry (seemingly instead going for the "Edward Scissorhands" vibe with long claws on both hands) Going for 5M bones on the neck instead of the grey 4M ones, thus allowing to put shoulder armour on the shoulders rather than the forearms Filling out the torso a little (including using a little unconventional technique on a gold 4M shell located at the back, where it is held between the torso beam and the torso shell). That's all for now. Feel free to use this mod to inspire your own mods of this set!
  22. Hey guys. I wanted to share my tower of orthanc with you. I added two floors and after saving up some money,i finally decided to complete the tower by giving him a back wall. Besides Helms Deep this is my second mod. I even have room to display it. ;-) Steps inside one of the added floors. Yes, the trap door is working. Inside of the other added floor. It was tricky, but i wanted to keep this room with all interior. Front Side Outside of the upper added floor. Balkony of the lower added floor. More spikes. Adding more height. Back wall and additonal pics: Sorry for the unprofessional pictures. Critics and comments are welcome.
  23. When I saw Madoca's original beauty in an earlier thread I knew I had to build it. I simply adored the elegancy of its lines. I thought the red colour was kind of boring though (seems like all supercars have to be red), so I figured I'd build the car in black rather than red. I also thought the original interior was kind of sparse and I didn't like the PF wires being in full view, so I covered these up with an all-tan interior. For shits and giggles I also added a 'supercharger' I was kind of going for this look. So, a short list of what I changed/added: Full-black exterior instead of red, even replacing all the pins and axles by black ones Full-tan interior, covering up the PF wires Chrome silver wheels and 'hub caps' Chrome silver side exhausts Chrome silver 'supercharger' Miscellaneous other chrome silver detailing Improved switching mechanism for front lights to make it more reliable and make the front light pop up further Now, without further ado, some pictures: Many thanks to Aureliusz Falowski for his excellent chromed Technic parts! And ofcourse thanks to Madoca for the brilliant original creation. Hope you like it! P.S.: apologies for the mediocre quality of the photos, I'm a complete n00b when it comes to photographing and DSLRs.
  24. Everyone remembers the 9V Train's sub-theme "My Own Train"... or if you don't and are wondering what I'm talking about look here on Bricklink for a list of all the sets in that theme: http://www.bricklink...ing=124.315.694 The passenger aspect of this sub-theme is covered by this set, #10015: Passenger Wagon. (seen in this stock Bricklink photo below) Also, I might suggest you look at -R8-'s 2011 Reviewer's Academy review of the set here on Eurobricks: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=59018 Everyone loves a classic, and the set deserves the affection if gets. However, it really lacks variety if you have a whole train of these running around. I asked myself these questions: Where does the baggage / mail go? Where are the end tail lights? Why am I talking to myself? Thus, I built my own version, which I plan on getting in real life soon (if not next): I went ahead and added inter-car walkways, giving it less a 1870's feel and more a 1910's look, plus two sliding doors for the combination baggage / passenger car. A small rear platform for the observation car was added, as were 1/2 stud recessed doors for platform access. These coaches are also build-able in tan, dark purple, reddish brown, white, black, and red. They are to be pulled by engine #4613 around my layout: (EDIT: 7/22/14: Updated the photo of the engine to a more recent screenshot... now I just need to take a real life photo!) What do you think? Comments, questions, and complaints welcome!
