  1. So, I'm starting to work on this LEGO City, but a lot of the buildings I'm using have baseplates at the bottom, and I'm wondering what the best way is to use them with other baseplates, like the road ones. I've seen it done before, with buildings like the Modular Buildings.

    Modern Day Avalonian Village

Add the post station and Octan Rural equals the start to a modern day Avalonian village.....which is a short distance from Avalonia City. I'm not sure if the post station should go on the left or even more far right once I fit the forest police station to the village......as you can see I lot of work is still on the drawing boards......keep watching !

Yes, it's another Hardware Store MOC !

I was playing around with LDD and I thought why not another hardware store.....in fact a rural/farming one, yes it's another one of those ! It's using a new kind of display mechanics.....jail cell doors. We have digging tools, irrigation, shearing and fencing (electric) departments. I still have tons more to do, entrance, a secondary access point and upper sections. Keep watching !

MOC - RAA Road Service Van

It's been a bit since I designed something new, NM needs more vehicles and different ones than before......so..... You can see some tools and also a roller tray for new batteries....I still have some finishing touches like fixing the lights and designing/producing stickers for it. The RAA is out state motoring body, just like the AA in the UK. Keep watching.

    Show me YOUR LEGO Town!

Simply put, like many of those showing off topics, I thought it'd be a great idea to do that for everyone's individual LEGO towns if they have any, especially seeing as I can't seem to find that many in this sub-forum. I'm currently working on my own town, and it encompasses mostly Creator houses and City 8x16 buildings. How about yours?

    MOC: Twisted Victorian

This odd building appeared into Palikkala Town's House fair on one misty Thursday evening. The origins of the house was unclear, but some thought it was from another time and century and somewhat associated with an odd incident of disapperaing house in 1867. An odd fellow with cardigan and trilby hat was seen on the stairs drinking morning tea... This house was build for Finnish LUG Palikkatakomo RY's contest on Model Expo (a big scale model show thing) where we had an exhibit. My house was third (on a ranking shared on two entries) on a visitor voting. Hope you like it! There's more on Cyclopic Bricks and Flickr.
  7. Hi! This is my very first post, so I think I should give a short introduction to myself. When I was a kid I used to be a huge Lego lover and builder, but afterwards I haven't almost touched a brick for almost 20 years. Just recently the passion came back thanks to the modular buildings... I really love those models! I want to present here my very first MOC, the Comptoir Florian. The name come from my favorite tea house, located in Bruxelles (Rue Saint-Boniface 17) that I used as inspiration. Most of the bricks come from the Palace Cinema (10232) and the rest are parts I found in the brick wall in the nearest Lego Store... that's why sometime I was a bit too limited with the colors available. It's a half-size modular building composed by two floors: the ground one with the bar and the second one with the tea room. Here is the front view: And the back view: Detail of the entrance: Ground floor with the entrance, the bar, the stairs to the second floor and the door on the back side: From the back side: Detail of the bar, with a samovar, the tea boxes on the shelves and a chinese umbrella as decoration: Under the stair there is a small room used to store stuff: Back side, with a rubbish bin and some flowers: View of the first floor: Details with the fire place... I love the lamps hanging over the tables and the stairs :) : In the other corner there is a bookshelf with some books for the customers. On the walls there are a few modern paintings: The stairs with the lamps again: And now the top level with the facade and the roof: On the back there is a terrace with some flowers: So, what do you think? I would like to find some space for a small toilet (maybe in the room under the stairs) and a stair to access the top terrace.

    [MOC] Backyard TV store

A backyard TV store, perhaps from the 80s/90s and not in use anymore. There is a building (that used to be a music store) in my hometown that gave me the inspiration to this model.
  9. Welcome to my humble abode, in all the entries I see huge houses made for kings. Why did I make this tiny thing? I wanted to be different and cabins are simply amazing. So, why not!? This took me 12 consecutive hours today. And I must say, I think I did pretty good. I'm not really someone who is a good builder and I think going out of my minifig only zone was a fantastic idea! Enjoy the build! Pic 1: View of the house from the front Pic 2 : Aerial view of the house with the roofs open Pic 3: Hid some bricks to show full interior http://bricksafe.com...ouseContest.lxf, gladly provided by Bricksafe.com If that somehow doesn't work ^ you can also download it by clicking it on here: http://bricksafe.com/pages/NuffSaid1995

    what makes a modular?

okay, im designing my first modular building, a comic shop/arcade with a classic space theme to it. HOWEVER, having never had the money for a modular, i have NO IDEA what it is that makes them have that feeling of quality and all of that. like, i have the proportions down, and the fact that it should be able to split into 3 levels, each one shorter than the last, but other than that im pretty much lost. in short, does anyone here who builds modulars have any tips or advice for a newbie?

    MOD - 60016 Tanker modified

Doing a little bit of shopping at my local Woolworths this morning and on the clearance stand.....one lonely 60016 and thought the tiger ah time for a modified tanker. Now I always wondered why Lego didn't design the truck like this, it's more realistic......what does everyone think ? Oh, and this is going in my Avalonia City layout in May.......the other original tanker is now a heavy vehicle/machinery refuelling tanker. Keep watching !

    The Gate of Dunholm

Hello folks Here comes the newest stuff build by THE BRICK TIME building yard. It is the Gate of Dunholm. As you can see the door is flanked by two massive towers. And the the door-wings are armored with strong wood and metal. I just wanted to mix an ancient roman style with parts of medical town and castles. So the gate fits in the whole scene of Dunholm. Lets have look: Overview - Closed door and some guards on the battlement. Some peasants making some "Wusel" around the gate. And you can see some details here. If you like to learn more about the Gate of Dunholm and the Northland check up THE BRICK TIME or our FlickR gallery. Best regards BoB

    Drowned Town

On the far western border of Burnby, there is a town that dates from the time of the Kaliphlin Conquest. When the guilds were formed, it was abandoned in favor of newer settlements. However, over time, the river Avonmora, once the lifeblood of the town, grew until it covered the entire valley. Only the tallest buildings poked above the water. Nobody knows exactly when, but sometime in the last three hundred years the area was resettled by exiles from both Mitgardia and Kaliphlin. They fashioned homes out of wood, and built them on top of the ruins. Now they fly the Avalonian colors. Fishing is a major part of their economy. Guards are posted to keep an eye out for bears in the winter months. They like to steal the fish. People store and gut fish away from their homes, so that they will stay clean. The organs are thrown back into the river, so that the May nourish the other fish and continue the cycle. Due to all the fish, there is a large cat population. Since they have no farmland or animals, a lot of the supplies must be imported. Using barges made of logs, they float up and down the river, selling fish and trading for supplies. While they're traveling, the rivermen live in their barges. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This was one of those really fas builds. I really enjoyed building it, and hope you like looking at it! I'd also like to claim the following: Shipping by Water Fishing Oceanside or river scene C&c welcome!

    REVIEW: 60048 "Rogue Hideout"

Hello Eurobricks! First post, and first Review, hope this works ;) :classic: WARNING: lots of links. Yesterday I went to a big shopping center in Valais, Switzerland, and they had the entire 2014 line-up for City and Ninjago, so I took this set.Pics are awful because I don't have my DSLR, so I had to use my Iphone, and no white background. LET'S GET STARTED! BOX: Normal city box, we already know that one . here is the box. INSTRUCTIONS: normal city instructions, we get three of those and three numbered bags. One builds the hot rod, another the police truck and the last one the hideout. DREADED STICKER SHEET: not many stickers, only for the policeman's ride BAG ONE PARTS: nothing new, like the dark pearl engine part, love the nose part and that treasure. Only new piece is the golden tap piece (in chest in pic 2). BAG ONE BUILDS: A lovely hot rod car, very 1950s US style. Too bad it has no lights... BAG TWO BUILDS: The police SUV or dog carrying truck. Nice, but very standard. Very similar to the dirt bike transporter set, still nice looking, and the new police colors are OK. WIP shot, veeeery standard build the finished truck, once again veeery standard. not sure about it being nice. BAG THREE BUILDS: a nice hideout, with a lovely side trapdoor and a submarine sight (hm... submarine homes? ) The house could also be used in war mocs or as an abandoned house. The parts. LOTS of very cool brick-bricks, including new 4 studs long bricks! Details of the lovely brick wall, with a very pet shop-ish trapdoor MINIFIGS: 3 normal figs, nothing special or fancy. 2 dogs, and one of the new policemen, which can't go together with the old ones, thay're too different (sorry for the minifig-racism, LOL) OVERALL LOOKS: a nice set, mainly for the hotrod and the hideout. In the pic the first burglar has left the other one and ran away with the hot rod... MINIFIGS: 7/10: normal ones, nice new police guy and normal burglars. BUILDS: 7.5/10: nice for hotrod and for hideout, boring for the truck. PARTS: 8/10: new brick bricks!! yayyyyy PLAYABILITY: 8,5/10: very high playability, three vehicles. DESIGN: 7.5/10: lovely hotrod pickup, nice building, police truck is veeery repetitive. Gio's ratings: 7.5 out of 10, good but a bit expensive. Got it for 40 swiss francs, or CHF. The truck is nothing new, but the other two things are worth it, really.

    Cheers and greetings from USA

Greetings to all! I'm fairly new to this site and these forums, and only started commenting in earnest about 4 months or so ago, after a period of more than a year lurking. First off, Eurobricks is my "go-to" site for LEGO news and information - what a fantastic resource! I admire and appreciate all who take their time to post thoughts, instructions, solutions, creations, etc. It is all enormously inspiring. A couple of things about me... 1) I got out of my "Dark Ages" around the time of the birth of my daughter in 2009. My first exposure to nouveau-LEGO was the release of the Emerald Night, which I saw in the windows of my local LEGO store. That train just caught my eye, and I couldn't stop thinking about it, I couldn't get that damned thing out of my head. A gracious mother-in-law, who assumed I had gone temporarily insane with the prospect of being a first-time dad, bought it jointly with my wife for my Christmas gift. The Emerald Night has a solid hold on my #2 spot for "Best LEGO set ever" (#1 remains, and always will remain, the Black Seas Barracuda which I got for Christmas when I was 6). 2) I received the Black Seas Barracuda for Christmas in 1989. I got my Emerald Night in 2009, 20 years later. 3) In no particular order - my favorite themes are/have been: Town, Train, Pirates, Creator "Expert" (modulars) and the Collectible Minifigure series. 4) I've also made recent room for Alien Conquest (RIP), The LEGO Movie, and Friends for my daughter. 5) I am 30 yrs old and live in Portland, OR - USA. 6) In addition to LEGO, my hobbies include: cooking, illustration, all things comics and graphic novels, and movies. I'm a budding audiophile and woodworking enthusiast. A couple of things I love about the LEGO hobby: -It gives me time to bond with my kids. It's fun to share something we can all relate to and for different reasons/motives. -The quality of the higher-end sets just boggles my mind. -The increased color pallet over the past few years -It may seem odd to say so, but I really like the direction of graphics team - the minifigures have so much personality and quality of printing has just gotten better and better -Correlations to my own job. Substitute "plastic injected molds" for "sand-casted steel," and the companies I've worked for professionally are very similar to LEGO (down to the manufacturing processes, supply chains, etc.) In fact, we use LEGO Adult education products for some of our internal training courses. Things I don't like about the LEGO hobby and wish would change: -Stickers. Boo. -Poorer quality manufacturing from overseas sources -Designs that got pumped into market way too fast. I almost feel like LEGO is overheating a bit these days and almost needs to scale back number of themes or new products to market. Too many are half-baked (and don't give me the "target market" argument - a poorly-thought out set design is a poorly-thought out set design, be it geared to the 5-12 age group or the 12-16 age group) -Pricing - especially for 2014. -Recent changes to exclusives discount policies (booo!)
  17. Since I started collecting again 3 years ago, space has gotten tight, really tight. I had been keeping everything LEGO at my parents house. Then on January 18/19 I decided to rent a van and move it downtown to my building, closer too my apartment, where I can store it in a more comfortable, spacious, location. Now their weight is better distributed. Used sets are now 4-5, instead of 6-8, similar goes for the newer sets. Unfortunately this will only be a temporary, as this ex-communications room they are in will most likely be renovated and rented later this year. When this happens, I will move it into another location in my building. It took a few friends and I around four hours and two trips in a 10' UHaul. The hardest part was getting everything out of the room, downstairs, and into the truck. Couple that with a four inch snowfall, covered windy roads, and potholes, and you had our saturday evening. We only used two ratchet-straps and some care placement to secure the opened set bins on the first trip. A tarp and blankets and short stacks to transport the new sets. After a 15 minute, 4 mile drive, everything arrived safe, with only a single lever/antenna falling off an old fireboat. Unloading was very fast thanks to a loading bay, some carts, and freight elevator. A straight shot to 2nd floor and an hour of stacking boxes and it was done. I figured I shoot the move, but wish I would have had pics of the weather that night. Serving double as a record if anything bad happened to these, as we all know how valuable some of these are. Next I will be photographing the contents of the storage bins, as much has changed since 2011. Plus, I've always liked those 'I Spy' books, and looking at a photo shooting down into those bins is very reminiscent IMO. So here is a move of an AFOL with a serious problem

    MOC - Coffee Shop

I was working on one thing today, but then something I started two or three weeks ago caught my attention and decided to work on it. A coffee shop..... I just need some signs and Larry from the Lego Movie collectables series, then my coffee shop can join my Coles Express servo setup......this is now replacing my diner idea because....cash flow is bad again - anyway keep watching.
  22. First of all, I have to admit that both of these are not so much "my own". The cargo truck was reverse engineered from someone's MOC that I once saw at classic-town.net, but couldn't find ever since. The dump truck (its hopper to be exact) is almost identical to the hopper Zed designed for his unbelievable KRAZ, definitely check that one out. So, here go the pictures. Cargo truck: Nothing special inside, just some furniture, boxes and a dog: I'd like to point out the washing machine, 1x1 round tile was made for this: Now the dump truck, nothing special here: So here you go, two trucks, one dog and a washing machine. For those interested, the .lxf files are attached. .lxf files are available at Bricksafe, so here's a link to the cargo truck, and here's a link to the dump truck

    MOC: Starbucks and Espresso Machine

Yes, I'm a coffee-holic... and I really like Starbucks. I built several versions over the years... The 2010 one is the most successful and standing... and it got a facelift. But before I reveal that one I want to share the video of one of the most intricate and time consuming mini builds... the Mastrena espresso machine! It's a replica of two small machines... They're automatic tamp and grind... and make good espresso. And yes, lots of us play with the steam wands from time to time... my barista friends did a Harlem Shake with the thing steaming once... but never recorded it lol. PART II will be the video reveal of the Starbucks itself.
