  1. This was a fairly difficult build because of the round tower. I call it modular in the sense that each floor can be removed easily to access the interior. My goal was to portray this small island as a reasonably comfortable place to live for the couple that maintains the signal fire. Here we see the process for winching the charcoal up to the storage room right below the top of the tower. A vegetable garden has been cultivated to supplement the preserved foods and fish available to the residents. A trap door leads into the hidden cove where a boat is stored. Here are the floors from top to bottom:

    Boat Repair Shop

My story For this modular (creator) building was that the Boat Repair Shop is based for a creation to fit in the Sea front Village. I built this one on Lego Digital Designer (LDD). I really believe that this model could have a lot of genuine interest for fans of my Sea front Village sets. This is the second of a series of modular (creator} buildings that I will be submitting. Summary If you're looking for trusted boat repair in Sea Front Village you've found the right place. With a full team of highly-trained technicians, Our Service Department has become one of the most trusted boat repair shops in Sea Front Village. From plastic boat repair to marine engine repair. our state-of-the-art equipment will get you back on the water as quickly as possible. The following is a list of the boat repair shop items: Minifig: Technicians (Carpenters), Captain, Fishing man. Boat: 2 type models, Tools: Drill, Screwdriver, Saw and more. The building consists of roughly 2460 parts and a boat ramp with a crane, work floor, and storage- attic. I used the colors sand yellow and olive green for the building that gives it a realistic feeling. And Siding technique for the clapboards. The roof just sits on the recess so it’s easy to take of and put on. If you like this design or the idea of the Boat Repair Shop – Modular (Creator) Building please support and follow (LEGO IDEAS) thanks for reading and Brick On everyone
  3. Hi all, I would like to present my MOC: a tower crane. I got inspired by the 42042 B-model, but I was a bit disappointed that the trolley function (which moves the hook closer or further from the crane base) wasn't powered. While redesigning this, I got the idea to construct a tower crane from scratch. The other big inspiration is the 8288 crane. I like how it was completely cable operated and the fact that it's a small scale set large size set. I also like that modularity of the 42042, a feature I wanted to incorporate. The goal of my efforts is a tower crane with a look and feel of a real mid-size TLG set. Functions: - Manual winch with ratchet system - Manual, cable operated trolley - Manual slew - Modular design The first LDD design looked like this (picture of a WIP, so the base and the trolley was not completed at this stage): It had a lot of 6x1 thin liftarms to create the lattice boom structure of the mast and the boom. This would make it a bit flimsy and rather expensive for me to order via Bricklink. So the next step was to redesigned it to make it simpler and more rigid. For example, the 6x1 thin liftarms where replaced by 4x6 angled liftarms, which on one side are a more rigid way of bracing and on the other side can act as the connecting element between sections of a module. I also reduced the amount of modules of the mast to get the part count down (in the spirit of the MINI-contest). This is the final model in LDD: That is the progress so far, I'm waiting on a few Bricklink orders to start building. EDIT: for those interested, the final part count is 744 part, including 3 strings.

  5. As I am toying with purchasing a second 'Pet Shop' I was wondering how many others buy multiple copies of the sets. So far, I have gotten 2 Town Halls, 2 Grand Emporiums, 2 Parisian Restaurants. 1 each of the Palace Cinema, Fire Brigade and PetShop. I came too late to the table for the others. I used most of the second Town Hall to build my Ideas project, and the others I plan to increase the size of my GE, and maybe MOC something from the PR. If anything, they are good sources of a lot of brick for the price. With the intro of a new modular soon, I am thinking I might get the 2nd Pet Shop for the parts, and possibly reworking it into my own design. I guess the possibilities are endless. What are your thoughts/plans?

    Music Store Modular

New creation just before the new year. This is my second modular: a music store and a recording studio. Packed with lots of details and opening panels, I think that this is perhaps my best build yet! My goal is to be able to build some more modulars (comprising of what will be known as Bricktropolis) for BrickWorld Chicago 2016. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

    Hradcanny Dungeons

Built for the Colossal Castle Contest. It was inspired by Michal Herbolt's "Defending the Mine" build. There are 4 individual cell modules that hook onto the back of the build. The dwarves of Hradcanny know well that run down prison cells increase the chances of escape, thus, even their dungeons feature wonderful craftsmanship of stonework. See more pictures here: link Thanks for looking, more to come soon
  10. Hi Eurobricks! I want to share my first modular moc with all of you. I built a Chipotle restaurant modeled after the one in my home town. Now it can be Taco Tuesday everyday! More images in more flickr gallery, here: https://www.flickr.c...57644811038186/ Thanks for your feedback!
  11. Eiscafé Rialto by Filius Rucilo on Flickr Maria and Ernesto Candagio are from Calabria and emerged in 1960 to Snottingen. The italian people helps to make the economic miracle came true and normally all the emigrants works at the LWM-factory in Cross-Axleton. Instead of doing factory work the Candagios take over the old house in Bricksuferstraße for an icecream parlor. The House was cheap and they had no money... Eiscafé Rialto by Filius Rucilo on Flickr Eiscafé Rialto by Filius Rucilo on Flickr Unfortunally Candagios have no childern and that's very sad for italian people. So all childern of Snottingen became "their" children. Ernstos Grandfather already was a icecream man in Calabria which made all childrens happy. And so Candagios does in Snottingen today! Every year, end of march, a big icecream test takes place in the parlor and every child is invited. In the winter month's Candagios travelling back to italy and when they're back to Snotting in spring they have the latest ice recipes which have to be tested on their main customers. Only what's liked by the children find the way into the waffle! Over the years Ernesto and Maria have transformed the house into a veritable gem. The great ice-parlor on the ground floor has a glazing which can fully opened when the weather becomes sunny and the big Appleoak in the garden always spend a nice shadow. It's a lovely place for an iced coffee or a Rialto-Special sundae. That's doce vita italiano and grandpa Ludwig or Captain Norbert knows that exactly... the captain is quite impatient waiting for his ice. Eiscafé Rialto by Filius Rucilo on Flickr Eiscafé Rialto by Filius Rucilo on Flickr Eiscafé Rialto by Filius Rucilo on Flickr On second floor is dental office of Dr. med. dent. Rudolph Wurzelbohrer (Rootdriller ;-) The Office is complet with al waitung room, an assitant office and a dentit chair. In this moment Dr. Wurzelbohrer does an extraction. Thanks god the windows are closed so nobody in the garden can hear the screams. On the opposite of the second floor is Susi's photo studio. It's so small that it is more like a photo booth. Susi's studio is open three days a week. On the other days Susi's takes photos for the Snottinger Tageblatt newspaper. Eiscafé Rialto by Filius Rucilo on Flickr Eiscafé Rialto by Filius Rucilo on Flickr In the third floor is the small flat of the candagios with a big kitchen, a couch and TV and a bed. Eiscafé Rialto by Filius Rucilo on Flickr Eiscafé Rialto by Filius Rucilo on Flickr See more pictures at Flickr. For the statistic Parts: 5150. After a few last minute changes I don't know the amount exactly. The parts are from 6 european countrys and it needs 12 orders at bricklink to obtain them. Planning: October 2013 to march 2014 Build: july 2014 Order and build time: 8 weeks. The "Appleoak" is inspired by the beautiful trees of Paul Toxopeus. The Eiscafé Rialto is placed in the Brickufer-Block back to back with Hugos Oldtimer-Klinik and the DPD Pickup shop. I apologize my terrible english. Suggestions are always welcome.
  12. Some months ago a topic started here in EB by piterx, inspired to design a little, fast, simple and funny 4x4. My original idea was build again a Land-Rover Defender in small scale to help to the people who likes my previous Defender but it is too much big and expensive. But when I was starting the car I though about that will be even more interesting if I design a chassis which can be used in many differents 4x4. I finnally designed a modular 4x4 platform. I have called it Modular All-terrain Platform (MAP) This platform can be used in almost all 4x4s with live axles. I this category you can find many Jeeps, Land-Rovers, Toyotas and many other famous 4x4. This MOC has been designed to be easy to built, very strong and light, funny to drive and as cheap as possible. The width is 17 studs. The chassis comes in two versions RC and MANUAL, with many features, some of them common, and other specific for one version. Common features - Wheelbase The most important feature in this platform is the option to change the wheelbese very easily and quickly. You only need to change 3 parts, yes only 3 parts to use any wheelbease you want between 22 and 30 studs, without change any other part in the chassis. With all this options you can use it in any vehicle you want and the bodywork will always fit correctly and very proportionate. I have studied many 4x4 and the wheelbase between 22 and 30 with 17 studs of wide is enough to built almost any real 4x4 ever built. - 4WD The chassis has permanent 4x4 traction with two differentials. This platforn has not been designed to be used like a Truck Trial, so it is better use differentials and increase the usability on smooth surfaces. - Live axles suspension Like the bests 4x4 this chassis has live axles with 3-links configutation in front and rear. Also it has good suspension travel, specialy in the rear axle . - Steering by push-pull bar Again like the real 4x4s the front axles use a bar system to make the steering works. Very realistic, strong and reliable. I have measured more than 30 differents 4x4 to fix the steering wheel in the best possible position. MANUAL VERSION FEATURES - Interchangeable fake engine To be used in all possible 4x4s, it is necessary to have the options to use differents fake engines. I have included 3 differents engines: L4, V6 and V8. I have not added a L6 because there are not enough space to fit it. You can change the motor in less than 10 seconds. - Working steering wheel The position of the steering wheel is exactly the same as the RC version. RC VERSION FEATURES - Powered by PF Like the name sais, this version has Power Functions. It uses a servo motor fot the steering and 2L motors for drive. Actually the whole PF system is exactly the same as the set 9398 (Crawler). - 2 speeds gearbox This version also includes a 2 speeds manual gearbox. Perfect to go fast on flat floors and slow cross-country. The gear ratios: Low - 1:1 - Max speed: 1.3kph High - 1:3 - Max speed: 4kph Jeep Willys One of the most famous 4x4 vehicles ever made. This is the first bodywork I have designed because it is small and simple to build, and at the same time very famous and The exacly scale for the Willys is 1:11.6 Now as always a little video showing how it works. Complete instructions for both versions available now!! All info HERE

    MOC Modular "Alsterarkaden"

Like so many others here, both my wife and I were great Lego fans throughout our childhood. My dark ages have been completely black for 25 years, and my wife's, well, let's call them Dark bluish grey. They both ended when, on an impulse, I bought my wife Lego set 10220 (Volkswagen T1 Camper Van) for Christmas in 2011. A great set. And as it happened, the manual of this set had a picture of Pet shop on the back. Unaware of the modular series, we checked it out, and well, from that moment on we were hooked. And I mean properly addicted beyond recognition. We started buying all modulars in production plus all the new ones, and also bricklinked MS, CC and GG. Oh, and anything to do with winter village, too. Also, we bought a number of MOC Modular instructions we liked, which we built as well. I've seen so many brilliant MOCs from various people here (we even reverse-engineered one or two of them), that I was inspired to have a try myself. A few years back, we were on holiday in Hamburg, where I took a picture of the "Alsterarkaden", a row of white houses alongside the water, with a "covered" pavement as an arcade. One of those houses (maybe even more with different façades) would be a nice idea, I thought. In hindsight, very naive, and way too ambitious for a first MOC, but I had a go, and this is what came out 3701 pieces later (after a very long time of designing, redesigning and learning). I'm happy with the result; there are a few minor construction issues, but overall, I'm pretty chuffed. I especially like the extra depth the pillars alongside the windows provide. Overall, a very exciting journey, during which I learnt a lot, also from other MOCers and their solutions. I paid some attention to the back; backs of modulars are usually a bit plain. So, by creating different floor plans for the levels, I tried to make it a bit more interesting, design-wise, by creating these two small terraces. I'm particularly happy with the way the ground floor awnings turned out (and yes, the one in the front is useless, because of the covered pavement, but I didn't want to break the pattern). I removed the arches here, for a better view. Ground floor is a sort of souvenir and art shop. I think the desk looks nice, the art work needs improvement. Polly definitely needs a cookie Separate stairs to access the apartment above Above the shop is an apartment. Not very original, but the official modulars seriously lack living space. I may have nicked a few ideas from other MOCers here, like Kevin8's kitchen cabinets and Kristel's bedside cupboards. I solemnly swear that my next MOC will not contain an apartment. I have a lot of space to work with in this MOC, and I still couldn't fit everything I wanted in there. I have a tremendous amount of respect for people who squeeze this in a 16x32 modular. And I've even seen a 10x32! Living and kitchen Staircase to the bedroom Bedroom and bathroom Access to the roof The roof is a roof, a roof, of course, and no-one can do without roof, of course In between Petshop houses Jerry's enjoying a drink Fresh eggs for breakfast Well, there are many things to improve on this one, but I think I'll leave it like this. It is a first, after all. I may design another one or two of these with different façades, to create a row, like in Hamburg. But first of all, I have my beady eye on a few buildings in The Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland, which we visited a few weeks back. Some more on my flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/130421735@N02/ I would love to hear what you think.
  15. I started designing this station model back in early December of last year, basing it off of set 60050, Train Station from Summer 2014. I got stuck with the set's roof, and put it aside. Then, earlier this week, I got inspiration to remove the roof and start afresh. I eventually removed the big 2 x 12 x 4 windscreens and replace them with two rows of 1 x 2 x 3 windows. I removed the hanging station clock and added the tower, which has unprinted faces in LDD but it should use this print In real llfe: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3960pb024#T=C&C=11 Anyway, the station has four ticket machines outside, 12 seats on the platform, with eight more seats inside (four of those are for seating in the pizzeria / dining area). Their is even a coffee machine to quench the thirst of the caffeine addicted passengers, station master and / or train crew! The street and track sides both feature eight letters each to name your station. You could even name it Legocity, just like in the original set, or maybe something simple like Bricktown, Duplobay, Ogelvill, or the ever popular name of Galidor. The inside features the dining area for customers of the pizza restaurant, seating for weary travelers and a ticket kiosk for the lone station employee. The station's right and left platform can be extended or removed. Here is the LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1449269932m.lxf Please note: I won't be getting this model as it was originally designed for my brother when I started last year, but now I'm trying to get my dad to get it for his railroad: he wants a station, but the LEGO Shop near us stopped stocking the original 60050 set. This might be the next best thing, and besides, the original set looks too modern for his railroad, plus it doesn't go well with the 9V era stuff anyway...
  16. I built this station with set #7997 in mind. (Link to this set's Brickset listing: http://brickset.com/...1/Train-Station ) I got the original set in 2007, along with a double rail crossover for my Birthday. I wanted to make it a full building but didn't have the parts. By 2008, I had discovered Bricklink, but the station was in pieces by then and was not re-created until early 2012. The station was a stock set, while I searched for ideas. Eventually, I came across a build by fellow Eurobricks user named Lazarus that incorporated a modular basis, a full building (street & track-sides) & a appealing design. I saved a picture of it and made my own design based on his. I included really neat features, (such as the arched lattice windows made with a fence) but I went too far and made it impossible to transport to train shows and LUG meetings. The platforms were very flimsy, and during the recent move to my families new house, it shattered into small chunks. So, I went back to the drawing board, scrapping everything but the building itself. Here is the end result, which is strangely near where I started with set #7997. It has one platform, plentiful outside seating on the platform, and is still yellow-and-black. There are many changes from the set, (no stairs on the platform, for example.) but the heart and soul is still there. In this latest version, I relocated the clocks to the top of the tower roof so that the design was closer to the original model. I also combined / redid sections of the model, such as the building and trackside awning have become one large section instead of two smaller ones. I even swapped the town-name of this station and my Victorian station, making the one you see here "Barretts" while the other one became "Ironwood". Also, this side of the station is 5 tracks long, or 80 studs. Here is the street side of the station. Here we can see the interior of the station, with ticket machines, seating, and snack bar on the first floor, plus the train tracking / switching controls on the second floor. You can also see the modular breakdown of the model, which includes the following: -Station building (lower floor) -Station roof and Tower control room (upper floor) -Tower roof -left platform section -right platform section The original set, courtesy or Bricklink. Tan parts. I love them. Best colour LEGO has ever produced. Didn't like the use of multiple colours for the facade, hence I made this. Well, you can do it with parts from simpson house + palace cinema alone, but I chose to scavenge simpson house + many other sets.

    Is there a 3x3 window ?

Hello, I've just started trying to build a house (using LDD to start with) after a few years of technic play. I'm actually trying to replicate my own house, using 4x6 doors as a scaling base. But many of my windows need to be 3x3, and I can't find anything to use - 2x2,2x3,4x4 are all available. Is there a solution or will I have to accept windows too small or too big?

    [MOC] The Pumpkin Diner

There's some time left until Halloween, but the Pumpkin Diner is open all year round. So, if you want to eat somewhere special in Heartlake City, this is your place to go. Of course, the atmosphere is best around Halloween when they decorate the diner a bit spookier than normal and their famous Halloween parties take place. Take a look at some of the costumes at this year's party: The roof and the front of the building are separately removable for better access and there are 5 light bricks which can be switched on at the back of the diner. It was built for the FriendsBricks Halloween Building Challenge. I hope you like it. C&C welcome.
  20. Hello, I would like to present to you my second Modular building that I did in April this year. I wanted to present it with building instructions, that's why it took me so long to show it here. The building instructions are available for free at Rebrickable: http://rebrickable.c...lar-flower-shop The flower shop is located at the ground floor with small area for customers and behind the counter the shop keepers place. The entrance to the building is from the front for the customers and there is also back door for the owner. The owner's apartment is on the first floor - it is one big room, just as the ground floor. Then, there is removable roof. The instructions differ slightly to what's shown on the pictures as I didn't have all the right bricks at the time of building. The details changed are pavement colour to match official modulars, some gutter reinforcement and carpet on the first floor is now one plate higher. So.. here goes picture, I hope you'll like it :) First, my modular in all its glory ;) Now, the ground floor, the actual flower shop: Here comes the first floor apartment: ... and the roof: Here are all three modules together: and here's how it looks like with my first modular - the Ice Cream Parlor (http://www.eurobrick...opic=111129&hl=) If you want to have a look at some more pictures, please go to by Bricksafe gallery: http://www.bricksafe...lar_Flower_Shop

    Door colours

I'm building a modular house (to replicate my own house) and disappointed by the choice of door colours available for a 'standard' internal 4x6 door (part 60606). Most internal doors in actual buildings are made of wood, and although many are painted many are left as bare wood. So why don't we have any tan, dark tan, brown or red-brown doors? I tried buying some 'flesh' doors but they look garish. Maybe I should just buy trans-clear doors and paint them - anyone tried painting lego parts?

    [MOC] 50's Style American Diner

I built this little diner to fit into my Modular town. It occupies a single base plate and can serve as an end cap to a row of buildings, but has facades on three sides. To date, this is one of my favorite builds. A little close-up of the marquee: Ground level view of the restaurant: A little profile shot: And then the top came off! Plenty of seating inside: Hamburger, fries, milkshake, or a fresh slice of pie today? The staff is always friendly and helpful. There's always a hoppin' tune playing on the jukebox. Situated in a busy area of town: Thanks for looking! You can see additional pictures (with more details) in my Flickr gallery!

    Built-up doors won't close

I have started to make a modular building that has double doors, each 4x6 bricks, so I am making these up from parts (mainly 2x2 frames and panels) so I don't get frames in the centre when the doors are open. The doors are hinged using these https://alpha.brickl...429c01#T=S&O={} and fit into an opening 8 bricks wide by 6 high. But they don't really fit, because they won't both close (without forcing). Looking at the geometry, I can see why. I notice that the Town Hall modular has very similar doors (although narrower, and with different hinges) but the LDD of this I found http://www.brickshel...4_town_hall.lxf also won't allow both doors to close. Has anyone found a solution to this? If you have a Town Hall, do the doors close?

    MOC: Bob's Burgers Restaurant

MOC: Bob's Burgers Restaurant I was challenged to build the restaurant from the TV show. It's been an excellent adventure into the deepest parts of teh interweb as I tried to grab as much source material as possible. Some of it was contradictory - indeed I found three different roof lines used in various episodes (I finally settled on the most frequently used one). Credit to Terry Akuna for the awesome graphics http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100010629990106&fref=ts I still need to build the interior but I've already started constructing Mort's "It's your funeral" building next door. Comments, criticism and ridicule most welcome! #Beefsquatch
