I enjoy building in the Dwarven style, and have made a fair amount of Dwarven scenes over the years, but not any recently. Which made it a great time to experiment with another building. I also got back into the habit of including full interiors. The corner pillar design is a modified version of a technique used in the Disney Castle. Eryl has many friends in Harburg, but one of his closest companions is Danyel: the son of a Dwarven merchant. Despite being nearly the same age as Eryl, Danyel already shows signs of having a fine Dwarven beard in the years to come. When they have some free time, the two boys enjoy exploring the forests and mountains around Harburg or playing mischievous pranks. It must be admitted that most of the latter are Eryl's ideas, and he can just about always convince Danyel to help him carry out his tricks. See more pictures on Brickbuilt. This MOC was a commissioned model builld. My client gave me the general layout, and some specific details to include, and then let me go from there. It’s 64×64 plus the two stud border, and is modular, allowing each 32×32 module to be easily removed, and also allowing for easy additions in the future. All the building’s doors/trapdoors are functional, the two cranes work, and the prison cell has a break-away wall. Total piece count, excluding figs and accessories (all the dock cargo) was 5696 parts, making it my largest MOC in the Pirate theme so far. I've added an own design interior to the 2nd and 3rd floor of my bricklinked Green Grocer. Only two very minor changes to the GG needed, everything else is kept original. It wasn't easy because the GGs small rooms with odd shape and placement of stairs. Tiled the stairs in the design of the already present hallway floor. 2nd floor with living room and kitchen. The kitchen where one 1x8 tan brick is replaced by plates for the kitchen shelf and upper cupboard. You might recognize the refrigerator, it's from the Parisian Restaurant. Living room with book cabinet. 3rd floor with bedroom and bathroom in one room. Towel rack at the left, shower at the right. Dress boy. Trouser rack. I hope you like it.

This is my upscale Imperial Shuttle, not quite mini figure scale, but close. I have finally built it after my original UCS set was in many pieces, something i regret not finishing as i was going through my "lego dark age" when i received it. The shuttle can fit one figure in the head and around 6 in the main body. The ramp extends down and has enough headspace for a mini figure to stand under it. The landing gear is retractable, and can also be mounted on a stand. The only issue with this design is that i underestimated the strength of the gear system. The wings are heavier then expected, thus the gear box can't lower and raise the wings with out carful assistance. It is strong enough to hold the wings in place, however. Perhaps when i feel brave in the future i will modify it and add an extra 2 gear boxes to strengthen it. More photos on my Flickr.

My 5th entry for the Colossal Castle Contest, into the Village Life category. Credit for the pine tree design goes to Chris Maddison, who recently shared his design in a tutorial here. The build fits on a 48×48 baseplate, and three of the buildings have interiors (pull out rooms). Daydelon has plenty of excellent shops to meet your various needs. Brianna’s Bakery, Tryggr’s Supplies, and the Toy Shop are all located on the first stretch of the main street. Even in the winter the city keeps bustling, with the frozen river providing a great place for children to skate and the snow covered streets still see plenty of traffic from dog sleds and others. This is Billy. Billy has had enough of browsing the internet or watching television and is thinking about alternatives to go with his coffee. To let his mind and senses get some rest Billy decided to read a book. Some time goes by when suddenly Billy gets interrupted, and he scares. Technology is coming for him and there is no escape. Billy tries his best to escape Technology. But in the end Billy had to give up, technology had won. There is no escape. Thanks for reading Billy's story. Altough i'm not here to post my moc today, i'm asking any of you for a possible link to a tutorial to see of i can turn that back castle thingy at the end of the silent mary set into an accesible space without many bricks or without ruining the design too much. I've gotten the set and tought something was missing. The living quarters of course. Seeing as tough the hull was completely exploded, i tought i could make a cabin for captain salazar. Only problem is: i don't know how i can mod it. That's actually the only reason i'm on this site righ now. I've searched the internet but there's no tutorial for how to make it an accesible space. (Yes this is my first post and i don't know how i need to form a good comment yet) (please don't ban me for this admins)

This build was inspired by Scottish Castles and Tower-Houses. I wanted to experiment with a modular building setup, and a new style of stonework. The keep is built on four separate 16×16 sections that can be pulled apart and rearranged. For the stonework I used brackets, headlight bricks, and brick with stud to give three different depths to the SNOT tiles. Credit for the corbel design under the battlements goes to LL. John designed the brickbuilt arches used here. Bjarn-dar Keep sits in Southern Mitgardia and is the main residence of the Bjarn Clan. Today a fresh shipment of supplies is delivered by some Mitgardian merchants. And one example of how the modules can be rearranged: See more here. Yes, a classroom is the place for learning! Even though learning could be anywhere. I created an LEGO interior scene of classroom, this model is at minifig-scale. This model was mainly inspired by LegoJalex’s Classroom. Since that is a big built, I tried to make it small and more simple. Classroom by Kamal Muftie Yafi, on Flickr I used a unique technique to make the four-legged chair. I forgot where I got that chair design. Ramadhan is an Islamic month, it’s a special month where every muslims are fasting. It already started about 2 weeks ago so maybe it’s a little late to celebrate it but it’s not a problem right? This was built for the ABS Builder Challenge, Round 1.2 It was largely inspired by Cesbrick’s amazing Kid’s Room model. This was quite an enjoyable change from my typical minifigure scale Castle creations. Both the closet doors and main door do open and close. You can see more pictures on brickbuilt. My entry for round 1 of The Middle Earth LEGO Olympics over on MOCpages. The category was to create a build based on one of J.R.R Tolkien’s poems or songs. Here is the one I chose: Farewell we call to hearth and hall! Though wind may blow and rain may fall, We must away ere break of day Far over wood and mountain tall. To Rivendell, where Elves yet dwell In glades beneath the misty fell, Through moor and waste we ride in haste, And whither then we cannot tell. With foes ahead, behind us dread, Beneath the sky shall be our bed, Until at last our toil be passed, Our journey done, our errand sped. We must away! We must away! We ride before the break of day! A fun build for the ABC’s of Castle, over on Classic-Castle. The idea is to pick a castle word that starts with any letter, build it and then post it (in alphabetical order). For my first contribution, I did the letter ‘B’, which stands for blacksmith. The blacksmith shop lifts off the base for easy play-ability, and features a full interior, as well as hinging walls for easy access. Inspiration for the wall texturing goes to Rod Gillies. Hardwin the smithy is always kept busy at his work, with all the local farmers coming to him for their tools and when their horses need shoeing. Though I am not very good at designing in Lego form (or Lego Digital Designer), so i was wondering if anyone had any instructions for this or if anyone has a LDD file for this that would great. Built for the 2017 Brickstory contest. I’ve been wanting to do some more pirate themed builds for a while now, and the Brickstory contest provided a great opportunity with its ‘Age of Piracy’ category. The island can split in half to reveal a path, cannon, and other details inside, and the winch holding the boat is fully functional. This paradise of a pirate island serves as the base of operations for Captain Hookey Hand and his crew. With everything from canons and lookout towers, to sun-bathing boats and planks to walk, the island is incredibly popular with his band of compatriots. My 8th entry into the CCC XIV, for the Traveling Salesman category. I’ve wanted to try an Asian themed build for quite some time now, and this category seemed a great opportunity to finally actually do it. I’m very pleased with how this build turned out, though there were definitely some challenging parts. It was inspired by several of Disco’s excellent Asian builds. Built for the 7th annual Expand the Winter Village Contest. All the doors open, there is a pop out ice block function, and a secret compartment under the house for hiding presents. The building itself was inspired by this model. It was quite an enjoyable build process, especially the wooden porch section. The ice house is particularly busy in the winter months, as blocks of ice are cut and then put into the storage shack to await delivery via truck to customers’ homes. My first model of 2017, I have had the idea for this build for sometime, and finally found time to do it. The building is modeled after Bits and Pieces, the general store in Solitude from the game Skyrim. I used the same stonework design as I did in my Nordheim Farmhouse creation, though this time in dark bley. A tutorial for that technique is available. The rather complex layout of the building offered some challenges to recreate in LEGO, but I’m quite pleased with the finished result. It lifts off the base and hinges open to reveal the full interior. Previous story installments: 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Sigurd’s General Goods is the largest general store in Daydelon. It not only provides supplies, but is also a common meeting place for the people of the city. Today Glorfindel is met there by a Mitgardian courier. It had been two months since Glorfindel's distasteful run in with Lord Tuinis, and in that time Glorfindel had made several other more successful trips to lords and jarls in the area. He also made the journey to Valholl for a council of Parliament, and now was checking in at Daydelon before heading back to the border. "Greetings Sir, I bring word of the council's decision..." I tried my hand at a few photo edits with this build as well: As usual, there are plenty more pictures on our website. Did not make my goal of completing Age of Mitgardia last year, but now I'm only 3 mill builds away, so the end is near C&C appreciated .

My 10th and last entry to the Colossal Castle Contest (small miscellaneous category). This was mainly a small fun build to mess around with new designs. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out, and that I was able to get every element actually attached, except the 3 logs which rest securely in the firewood bin. First installment in the story. After his first successful meeting with the Jarl of Balkr, Glorfindel had high hopes that he would meet with similar success when visiting other jarls and lords on the Nocturnus border. Dedan had set off for another clansman village, while Glorfindel's next trip took him to the medium sized town of Firoir. A single guard stood watch at the gate, or rather sat watch, as he was resting on a stool. "What's your business here?" He questioned, not bothering to stand. "I need to speak with Lord Tuinis," Glorfindel replied, taking in the somewhat disheveled uniform of the soldier. "Just straight on down the main road to his manor then, can't miss it." "Thank you, and good day," said Glorfindel, to which the guard merely grunted. Continuing on his way, Glorfindel saw that the guard was right and that it would be almost impossible to miss the large ornate manor. After an equally brief conversation with the steward, Glorfindel found himself face-to-face with Lord Tuinis in a lavish wood paneled room. "And what brings the esteemed Sir Glorfindel to the humble town of Firoir?" Asked Tuinis with a sneer. "Urgent orders from Elon Chorian no doubt, more men and supplies needed to defend our beloved capitol city?" Somewhat taken aback by the lord's belittling manner, Glorfindel tried to be diplomatic in his response: "It's always an honor to be received into any town of Mitgardia, and while the capitol is secure, I do bring word from Chorian that the villages, towns, and cities along the Nocturnus border should be fortified against a possible attack from the darklands. Tuinis jeered, "Of course! It's easy enough for him to order new fortifications and more soldiers to be trained, but we lords always pay the price for his petty concerns. Not a year ago, I was ordered to send troops and reserves of goods to the North for defense against the Algus threat. Yet this supposed threat to our existence was never even sighted by my scouts!" "Surely you don't mean to question the validity of the Algus attack?" Glorfindel asked incredulously. "Northern Mitgardia paid a dear price to keep the Algus from advancing to your doorstep! And if your scouts really never picked up on that threat, that only betrays their incompetence!" "You dare insult a lord of Mitgardia to his face at his own hearth?" spat Tuinis, "I know your kind, merely a lackey of Valholl, constantly sticking your nose into your better's business, and getting rewarded for it!" For a moment, Glorfindel could only consider the satisfaction a swift blow to the insolent face before him would provide, then with a great effort he controlled himself and turned from the room. Tuinis aimed one final insult at the retreating figure "That's right, crawl back to your fancy city and learn not to meddle. You have no authority here, boy." Another view of the build. This is my 5th entry into the Colossal Castle Contest XIV, for the Ice Castle category. Burg Eltz castle in Germany is one of my favorite castles, and that castle was my main inspiration for this build. My model stands 84 studs tall, and features a full interior via 2 hinging walls sections. Harburg Castle is located in the mountain range near the Nocturnus border in Mitgardia. The lord of the castle, Karsten Storrar, receives an unexpected visit from his brother Sir Glorfindel. Inside the castle the cook prepares some fresh baked goods while a few guards take their mid-day meal. "Karsten! It is good to see you again!" "Likewise, but what brings my famous little brother and Dedan the hunter to Harburg?" Karsten asked jokingly, though his tone soon shifted as he posed another question, "New tidings of the Algus in the North?" "No, the Kylma Katsella and new fortifications seem to be holding back those foes. It's danger from the east that brings me, as we've heard many reports of the Black Spire's influence in Nocturnus growing stronger. Naturally, Harburg's location on the Nocturnus border makes it an important position to have well defended. We've come to warn you and other towns and villages that their defenses should be strengthened in the face of this possible threat," Glorfindel answered. "Yes, I've heard these rumors myself and tried to prepare accordingly. Unfortunately, many of the neighboring lords and jarls feel that these rumours are unfounded." "Which is why we've come to you first," Dedan interjected, "we hoped that your influence in this region of Mitgardia might help to convince the others." "Well I'm happy to do what I can, though of course you understand the difficulty of the situation. The recent Algus threat has already weakened most towns and villages, as they sent supplies and men to fortify the North. But enough of this gloomy talk, come! The twins will be thrilled to have a visit from their uncle, and I'm sure Karin will be pleased to see you as well." And with that, the group headed into the protection and welcoming warmth of the keep. On a white backdrop: There are plenty more pictures on brickbuilt. Happy Holidays Everyone! My town has finally got what it was missing, a more habitable apartment complex that has some green space (a rarity due to a severe land shortage problem). Ending the long tradition of single-room flats the new spacious units include a mind-boggling 4 rooms. Some even have toilets, although these cost extra. The development consists of 12 apartments, 3 stacks of 4 built one on top of another. Around 1,500 dark tan masonry bricks were required. As these are more expensive than standard bricks some believe they were intentionally used to funnel state aid to mining companies although this could be just a conspiracy theory. Despite the obvious design improvements however most of my minifigs are not happy at all which is not a surprise really as they can’t afford one. The few that can are also not happy do to bad choices when picking friends. Hope you like the build. This time I went for a different approach in modular building. Heavily inspired by the Haunted House, I wanted to create a stand-alone building with garden. From the start of the project, I was working in parallel on both of the houses, hence I am presenting them together. At the back of the house, there's lots of space that wasn't filled with details. The plan is to build a railway track in the back for the town layout of our LUG's upcoming exhibition. However, I wanted to add details to the back to see more life in town. There's a small barbecue at the back of the grey house, and a small siting area with wooden table and benches. The houses were built in similar style. It's obvious the sand green one is a MOD of Haunted House, while the grey one followed in style. My favourite details of both houses are the entrances. It's obvious, again, they were made by the same 'architect'. Both of the houses were made in modular fashion. The floors can be lifted to see furnished interiors. To start with the sand green house, there's a lovely corner just under the roof, in the bedroom actually, where the floor is in different levels, to make an easier access to the window, as well as to create a sitting area or just to make room for extra decorations. In the middle floor, there's a reading corner, to enjoy afternoons with a great book and relaxing in a quiet space. The other side of the floor is a bathroom - probably the most challenging build in the house. As it's crammed in a tight space, there's not much room for details. It has the basics (a bath, toilet and a sink) and a few pinkish decorations - it's a girls bathroom. The ground floor is the main area, there's a kitchen partly hidden under the stairs, and on the opposite site is the dining area. I'm quite happy with the kitchen, as I tried a ''different'' look. It gets hard not to repeat yourself with details. The dining area is parallel to a sitting area with a small couch and TV. There's also large glass door to the side porch and a view of the garden. The garden is small, but green. Also, it's facing away from the neighbouring house, so it's a nice and quiet place to relax. On the side, the grey house is more lively, with both colours and life. There's a similar floor arangement, with kitchen, diner and living room on the ground floor. This time, a TV set is hidden under the stairs, and a nice view of the garden can be enjoyed from the couch. The terrace is more open, and is only partly covered by sun shades. From the terrace, the garden is easily accessible. The terrace itself is one of the two favourite parts of the house. My other favourite part of this house is the daybed on the middle floor. It's next to a large window to enjoy the view. It's easy to imagine myself lying there, reading a crime novel, enjoying a hot cup of tea and watching snow falling down (or just daydreaming). There's a bathroom on the middle floor as well, a small one, and similar in style to the bathroom of the sand green house. The top floor is modestly furnished. It's a bedroom, so there's not much to see. My favourite detail is the bed with a book shelf included, that was inspired by one of the Ikea's models. Built for the large miscellaneous category of the 14th Colossal Castle Contest. The scene was inspired by this image. It took about 2 weeks to build, and weighs 24.8 pounds, making it my largest solo build ever. Setting up the buildings layout and connecting them via bridges was the most challenging part, though the rockwork was most time consuming to build. Qasr Albahr is a large trade citadel in the Spice Islands of Kaliphlin. It serves as a hub of the trade between the islands and mainland Kaliphlin. Its climbing bridges and ornate walls are well known throughout Historica. Lots more pictures on Brickbuilt Thanks for looking, all C&C appreciated

My third entry into CCC XIV, for the Traveling Salesman category. Credit for the star mosaic over the throne goes to Disco86. One of the main things I wanted to include in this build was the awning over the king’s seat, as it is historically accurate, and something I haven’t seen done much in LEGO. The balcony area and floor were perhaps the funnest parts to build however. The grand merchant Tajir specializes in fine silks, spices, jewels, and robes.
