  1. (NOTE to the mods: This model could go in the adventure forum, but since it's origin is a CITY-like set, I placed it here in the town forum. I hope that's okay!) Heading out for parts unknown, searching for lost treasure, discovering ancient civilizations, fighting the mysterious forces of evil and finding helpful allies, all in far-way lands not on any map! Check your compass, secure your gear and plot your course: It's all in a days work for the ADVENTURERS! (and yes, that was supposed to sound like a early TV / radio drama intro. ) I took the "Old Fishing Store" Ideas set number 21310 and turned back the clock on it from a rundown fishing shop in the modern era to a modular 1920's supply depot for Johnny Thunder and his friends, also known as the Adventurers. I added a set 7596-style freight Crane that's a part of "Trash Compacter Escape" (a Toy Story 3 set from 2010). I revised the color scheme of the mainly yellow building instead of the original sand green, and removed a ton of the mixed bunch of colors that were used a "patch jobs" on the dock and building proper. I removed the roof and redid it completely to be brick-built with slopes instead of plates and tiles at an certain angle. I also stripped the many windows styles off and replaced them with a single type. I added a warehouse section to the lower floor by sending one of the walls about 16 studs back, allowing for storage space for various equipment not yet designed. The back wall of the building shows off the new wall art placed on the roof section of the building: a giant propeller from a ship of some kind. I also am going to use the "Great" and "West" printed parts for the sign out on the front of the building where the "Anton's bait shop" 4 x 2 tile originally was. The back wall still opens in two sections, but the inside is a rough estimate. Some parts I already have from my previous depot model from almost 1 1/2 years ago, such as the safe, radio and various maps. Also, the two freight loading doors actually open and shut quite nicely. The model comes apart into four sections, with the main roof, tower, tower roof, and main building + dock all separating from each other. The crane was totally copied from my previous depot model, which itself was duplicated and color-changed from the dark green / white one in the Toys Story 3 set I mentioned earlier. That's all I've got so far with the building (which is coming soon in real bricks)... any thoughts or ideas for this model? As usual, Comments, Questions, & Complaints are always welcome. Stay tuned for real life pictures that might be coming in October. If you want the LDD file, it is here.
  2. NOTE to the MOD: First off, I am sorry if this is in the wrong place. I wasn't sure where to place it, as it is a model using both System and Technic parts / techniques. Please move this as you see fit, if you need to move it at all. I just finished turning an elongated and enlarged version of set 42064 (Ocean Explorer) into a Adventurers style tramp steamship I call the Great West. The lift-away roof and bridge sections come off easily for access to the inside, and all the cargo is removable / interchangeable. Here is the original model, set number 42064, Ocean Explorer. I stripped the deck clean of all play features and attached models to give me a good foundation for my modifications. I also got rid of the helicopter and submarine. This ship is missing a few parts such as one of this for the bow in red, and two of each of these parts for the ships name, the Great West. The ship's name plates are located on the front of the bridge and the rear of the ship. I made the ship a whole section taller and longer to make it more proportional at mini-figure scale. The ship also feature wheels on the bottom for rolling along the floor / table / whatever. The two inside sections are mostly empty, but the captain's quarters goes on the lower deck, and the command bridge on the higher level. I'm not sure what to put in the lower section, but the upper section is mostly done except for the missing chart table. Any thoughts? Technic-heads, Ship-builders and Adventuresome fellows please chime in, as I am seeking feedback on this model. The LDD file is available here. Comments, Questions & Complaints are always welcome!

  4. This model was based on set 21132 from the Minecraft theme, which was expanded and modified to be quite a bit larger with surrounding rock features, dangerous rope bridge, a second room and cave for the man-tiger creature. The first half of the map (the one the pirate had) described in the text is this one here while the one half Johnny had is in this link. Early summer, 1926, somewhere in the jungles of a forgotten island off the coast of South America... This is it: the Temple of the Unknown Question. Inside this structure is the other-worldly Guardian which will grant you either fantastic riches, immortality, or infinite knowledge... your choice is one of those three. (If you answer it's question correctly of course!) To reach the secluded temple, Johnny Thunder had to follow a certain map: the only problem was a 17th century pirate had the other half of said map on his ship. To find the temple, he had to find pirate, who had already answered the question and become immortal. Upon finding him, the pirate gave the map (and some advice) to Johnny, who then had it stolen by Lord Sam Sinister. After following Sam to the hidden island and the temple therein, Johnny and company have to think fast to stop Sam from getting to the ancient guardian first! Just your average rickety / unstable rope bridge, placed right before the temple entrance. ...It even collapses on the pull of a Technic pin! Three switches are inside the first room. The two outer ones will unlock the the mechanism to reveal a treasure chest, while the middle one is a dummy lever. With the two outer levers flipped down, the chest is revealed. However, inside this chest is a Pandora's box of sorts: opening it will let out a bright light for 30 seconds or so, as it sucks those unfortunate enough to see the light into the infinitely larger space in the chest and then slams shut on itself. (kinda like the Ark of the Covenant from "Raiders of the Lost Ark") In universe, this box will be taken by Sam Sinister as he thinks it contains the treasure he seeks. Meanwhile the good guys notice the door to a second room and crawl through it as soon as the bad guys leave with the false treasure. This secret second room holds the treasure guardian statue, and a back exit from the temple via a damaged wall. Just be careful not to wake the mighty tiger-man on your way out! In-universe description: The real treasure is inside the second room: after seeing the notched arrows placed by the pirate many years ago on the first room's walls, Johnny finds the small secret door and enters this room to find the guardian and five jewels. (four on walls, one on the staff in guardian's hand) The statue awakens, and asks for a member of the party to come forward to receive the question. Heeding the pirate's advice, he sends Miss Pippin Reed to do the honors, as she alone can answer what no man can answer. (she is no man, after all) After relaying the answer via whisper, her mind is wiped of the question and answer, and is given the choice of immeasurable wealth, eternal life or infinite knowledge. She chooses not to choose, saying the gifts are too large for one person (or group of people) to share. Thus, the adventurers walk back outside and plant dynamite to blow the temple sky-high, thus destroying any chance of anyone, good or evil ever getting the question right again. The man-tiger guards his cave under the temple. Be careful Johnny and company, or you'll be a mid-afternoon snack for this hungry fellow! BUILDER'S NOTES: This is the original LDD build of the temple... quite a change to now! EDIT 8/3/17: Added more recent real life pictures and modified the text!
  5. This model was originally inspired by set 3817 (Flying Dutchman) from the Spongebob Squarepants theme. It has been seriously up-sized in scale, and features three and a 1/2 masts with Technic panel sails and 14 "shooting" cannons. The ship also has a crows nest and a removable rear upper deck for access to the captain's cabin. Background info: In 1699 Captain Henry Walker found a portal to another world whereupon he, his crew and his ship (the Terror) stayed for 22 days. When he returned 225 years in our time had passed in their absence. His sword came from that other world and can rip / close holes in space, letting him escape from battles quickly and find targets easily. As of early 1925, he is searching for a home for his crew where they can pillage passing ships and live in relative peace. Johnny Thunder and Lord Sam Sinister want the sword, and both are desperate to get it. Lord Sam is forging new alliances with greater evils in order to obtain it first, while Johnny is trying to locate the last known owners.... which happens to be Captain Walker and the Terror. Here is the rear of the ship featuring the captain's cabin windows and a trio of lanterns. The ship has a crows nest on the second mast, and 14 working cannons to dispatch enemies to the briny deep. The upper deck features the ship's wheel. This section is removable to get into the captain's cabin. The roof of the cabin is removable, with a table and chair for the Captain to sit at and read maps. Captain Henry Walker (in green) and his crew. Here is the older version of the ship and it's Captain, which was destroyed to make the bigger ship seen above. The LDD file for the newer version of the ship is available here. Comments, questions, and complaints are welcome, but please keep in mind I only occasionally built ships and pirates are not my specialty by any stretch of the imagination. Thanks for viewing!

  7. Sometimes Johnny Thunder and the other adventurers had to fly commercial. Below is my moc of the Wibault 283, an Air France airliner of the 1930s. For trips around the Mediterranean Sea, they may have flown on the Lioré et Olivier LeO H-242, an Air France flying boat.
  8. (I have put the older pictures of the previous model in the spoiler tag below. This way, you can compare the models of the building and car.) This Adventurers model was inspired by my original Johnny Thunder office building from 2015. I modified it into a corner building with a tower like in set 10255 (assembly square). The building is modular, and comes apart into three sections: roof, second floor and main floor. This model is my actually second tallest creation, as it's shorter than Sam Sinister's Mansion and only slightly taller than my Saloon. Here you can see Johnny Thunder and his car (the aptly-named "Treasure Raider") outside the building. The rear of the building is blank, as it it would be sandwiched next to other buildings. The vent on the roof leads from the stove on the second floor. The lower floor features a cabinet from set 10228 (Haunted House) and a 1920's style ivory phone borrowed from set 10218 (Pet Shop). A hat rack (also from the Pet Shop set) is next to the wall opposite the desk. The far wall features some treasure from Johnny and his friends many adventurers, such as the Golden Shield from "Orient Expedition", a T-Rex tooth from "Dino Island", a trident from the "Quest for Atlantis", the replica hammer of the Thunder god from the "Age of Ragnarok", the helmet of a dwarf from "Middle Zealand", and many others artifacts. The upper floor features Johnny's bed, a stove, table with root beer bottle, and a radio / record player. This model was inspired by the tan car in set 7628 (Shanghai Chase) from the Indiana Jones them. The car now features a hard-top roof instead of the original fabric one, with one section of the roof being removable to allow for two figures to be seated inside plus a rear-mounted spare tire. The model also has a rear-mounted spare tire, located right next to the taillights. The inside of the car seats two figures side-by-side. 3/4/17 Major update complete: I added new pictures of the updated house and car, plus i put the older models into a spoiler tag for you to compare between old and new. Comments, Questions and Complaints are always welcome!
  9. (Note to the MODs: This is in the town forum because it's a car. It could have gone in either the Adventurer forum, the Licensed forum, or here in the Town section. I chose Town because it could be easily modified by taking the figure out and making it into a regular 1920's car again.) The car on the other hand was inspired by this build which was in turn a modified version of set 70911, (Arctic Roller) This model is Sam Sinister's largest ride to date and lacks the spring loaded shooters of the original set. I replaced them with a proper car grille. The car by itself is about 8 studs wide (with a tiny 1/2 stud bit of overhang on each side due to the front wheel wells) and 28 studs long in total. As a side note, the headlights are not clipped in the same way as the original set had, and are instead sandwiched in place with 1 x 6 plates sand headlight bricks. The rear of the car features a license plate for Lord Sam Sinister and dual exhaust. The gray round thing on the trunk is supposed to house a spare tire, but it doesn't.... it's really just for looks. Two figures (sans tall hats) can fit side-by-side in the car, and their is space in the opening trunk for a briefcase. The teeny tiny mini-figure out by the front door of the house is Lord Sam Sinister... it just gives you an idea how massive the house and car really are! (the house can be found here) As usual, comments, questions and complaints are always welcome!
  10. The house was originally made in 2007 as a digital construct by Brickshelf user "Widdi" and was found by me at this address back in late 2014. I then changed the color, added a garage and a back half to the building, and eventually put in a chimney styled after the one in set 10228. The car on the other hand was inspired by this build which was in turn a modified version of set 70911, (Arctic Roller) This model is Sam Sinister's largest ride to date and lacks the spring loaded shooters of the original set. I replaced them with a proper car grille. The garage to the side of the building is unusual, as Victorian houses never had them. Thus, I've decided it was a later addition in 1918 by Sam Sinister when he inherited the house from his father, just after Sam returned from World War I. The rear of the building features a large amount of windows, while the far side has a stone chimney flue. The second floor features the master bedroom / writing room with a small balcony on the right hand side. The furniture on the upper floor features a bed, a desk, table with lamp, a cabinet, and a grandfather clock. The ground floor is little crowded with the kitchen and living room appliances / furniture. The items seen here includes a stove, wine cabinet, table with two chairs, phonograph, couch, curio cabinet, and pool table. The sign above the fireplace is supposed to read "1912" for that is the year the house was built. The building is modular, so the roof top, second floor, and ground floor all come apart from each other. Fictional information on the house's history: Built in 1912, Sinister Manor is one of the last houses built in the Victorian Style of architecture in Ironwood county. It was built by Lord Gregory Sinister for his family, and features one thing not usually seen on Victorian houses: a automobile garage (it was added later on in 1918 when Sam Sinister returned from the Great War.) The house was left to Gregory's family, (his son Sam Sinister & his sister Alexis Sinister) upon the elder Sinister's death of a stroke in 1913. Sam Sinister went on to serve in the British army in World War I, losing his left hand in the conflict and replacing it with a iron hook. When he returned from the conflict Sam set about continuing his fathers tradition: collecting treasures and precious artifacts, through legal and illegal means. The collection was stored in the Attic of the sinister Mansion until it became too large and was moved to a more secure (and secret) location. Thoughts? Complaints? Questions? Feel free to post them! Main Post Edited 2/14/17: added new pictures of the building and the new car. LDD file for both car and house available here.
  11. Hey Guys! It's been a long time that I haven't posted any MOC on EB! Here is one of my creations I finally took time to take photos! It is my "Indiana Jones temple escape" where Sir Henry Jones Jr. tries not to be flattened by a big rock ball! It is motorized so the rock rolls after Indy! Please, do not hesitate to make any suggestion or comment! They are welcome! Hope you will enjoy! 12. This model was originally set 31064, (Seaplane Adventures), a 2017 official Lego set from the CREATOR line, with some of the ideas from set 5935 (Island Hopper) from the 2000 ADVENTURERS line thrown in for good measure. I also added an updated figure of the pilot (Ms. Pippin Reed) plus a printed map tile. This twin-engine model is a seaplane, which means it can only land on water. No wheels would make for a very rough landing on dry ground! The model has two opening hatches (one for the pilot and one for loading cargo) and removable roof section for access to the cargo compartment. I got the printed 2 x 4 tiles on the rear of the plane from the 2010 Toy Story 3 line set "Western Train Chase". As the former lead reporter for Adventurer Times, Miss Pippin Reed was reporting on a Dr. Kilroy's 1920 discovery of a copy of the Book of the Dead when she met Johnny Thunder at a dig site near Cairo, Egypt. They have been good friends ever since, even though Ms. Reed happens to be an better aviator than Johnny. She currently is employed by Harry Cane as one of his best pilots. She usually files the Island Hopper on cargo runs into Europe and Africa, but has known to take the plane as far away as the Pacific Ocean / Dino Island and the Far East. In this picture we see the Adventurers' home base / resupply depot with the seaplane called the "Island Hopper", the large tramp steamer "Eastern", and the smaller tugboat "Gulf Stream". This photo is just for fun (read: not included in the LDD file), and features all the good-guy Adventurers vehicles and their home base, along with the seaplane called the "Island Hopper", the large tramp steamer "Eastern", the smaller tugboat "Gulf Stream" and Johnny Thunder's car "Treasure Raider". Any comments, Questions, Suggestions, and Complaints are always welcome. NOTE: The supply base and the other vehicles have thier own thread here or, if you are more into the bad guys, check out the Sinister battle-cruiser here and his secret submarine here.
  13. Fictional background info: Built in 1919 by the evil country of OGEL, the Vladek is a diesel powered battle cruiser originally intended for use by finding enemy ships and sinking them with it's nine guns on three turrets. This ship was finished too late to serve in World War I, and so sat until 1922, when Lord Sam Sinister manged to convince the mysterious leader of OGEL to let him borrow it to scourer the globe looking for valuable and dangerous artifacts of immense power. The Vladek has been Sam's base of operations in several campaigns such the Orient Expedition and Dino Island, and he has the full might of the OGEL military behind him as his personal army. Only time will tell if that is enough to stop Johnny Thunder and his pals! In the Real world: This Adventurers-style ship happens to be based off set 3829, Fire Nation Ship from a decade ago. (2006) The ship is 85 studs long, while being made to be 20 bricks in height and 16 studs in width. The ship is modular, with the roof and bridge removable from the war room and each other. The menacing skull on the bow of the battlercruiser signifies it's evil captain and crew! The bow, or front, of the ship is tapered to a point much like on my 1920's Tramp Steamship. while the stern (or rear) is pretty flat. The name "Vladek" should go on the exposed studs back of the ship, as that's the vessel's name. (I haven't got those letters yet!) The vessel features two funnels and room in the lower level for the war room, complete with a large map table. The upper floor features the wheel and a nautical telegraph. The ship has three turrets with three barrels each that can elevate up and down or rotate left to right. The crew of the battle-cruiser Vladek is on the right, while Captain Hawkins is on the left. As usual, comments, questions, or complaints are always welcome! EDIT: This vessel's was constructed just today, 1/4/17, and the page has been restructured once more. I hope you like it!
  14. Down periscope, prepare to fire torpedoes on my mark! Help the evil Lord Sam Sinister stalk and sink his nemesis Johnny Thunder with the cutting edge submarine S-13, nicknamed the Killer Whale, by firing torpedoes and diving deep to avoid depth charges.* *Sub does not actually dive, fire torpedoes, or float on real water. This sinister vessel comes with two propellers, a rudder, a ladder from deck level to the conning tower, and a periscope for seeing your enemies before they see you! Remember: Run silent and Run deep! The ship comes with detailed interior and removable roof. This is so you can plan Sam's next devious attack on Johnny in the war room, pilot the sub in the control area, or try to coax some extra speed out of the motor in the engine room. You can even watch the sea creatures go by with the massive windows in the side of the sub! NOTES & LDD FILES: Here is the LDD file for version 1 (above): http://www.moc-pages...1466873891m.lxf It is based heavily on set 4888 and the sub Nautilus from the 1950's movie version of "20,000 Leagues under the Sea". This is version 3 of the sub's LDD file: submarine version two LDD file This model (v3) was more inspired by the modern subs from 1990's film "The Hunt for Red October" than the Nautilus, though it still retains the large porthole. It features an enlarged conning tower and revised engine room. I also moved the tower four studs closer to the front of the sub. Both models are able to be built in real life. Any thoughts, comments, and / or questions are always welcome!
  15. Hello ! I am not really active in this part of the forum but I made a little build trying to illustrate what could be some new adventurers little set in our days. I tryed to think at this build like a possible set TLG could release in order to launch a new Adventurer/Egypt theme ! (my favourite one) So enjoy : Of course, Comments and Criticisms are welcome !
  16. Hello all- long time peruser but first time poster! This is also the first MOC I've done since my dark ages. Currently I live in China, so most of my sets are back in the US, but over the summer I brought some back with me because I had the following idea. I love Chinese culture, architecture, and history! When I found out they had done an adventurers orient series a few years ago, I found some pretty sweet deals and was able to pick up the main orient sets. While I loved the 7416 Emperor's Ship, I thought it was a bit lame not to include the emperor himself, and that it was more like a smuggler's ship than an emperor's ship. I combined a few of those sets along with some others (although unfortunately left my Emperor Chang Wu back home), and came up with the ship below. Let me know your thoughts, and suggestions/etc.! Thanks Here are some more pictures I took: https://www.flickr.c...4194@N05/6Mv27g
  17. Hi, This is my latest creation, Johnny Thunder's Heli-plane! i wanted to make something a bit different that can eventually fit into my moc city. it carries all the equipment that treasure hunters might need, and even fits in his trusty motorbike! inside there's also enough room for his trusty pilot, Harry Cane, Dr. Lightning and his loyal Alaskan Malamute, Indy! my favorite part is the removable wing and tail/roof section. it really adds to the play ability, i also made a supply truck to restock on equipment, but this is mostly modified from the indiana jones set. More pictures can be found on my page: https://www.flickr.c...th/24114321389/ Hope you enjoy! comments and feedback much appreciated:) Toni Lego Adventurers heliplane moc by toni lynam, on Flickr Lego Adventurers heliplane moc by toni lynam, on Flickr Lego Adventurers heliplane moc by toni lynam, on Flickr Lego Adventurers heliplane moc by toni lynam, on Flickr
  18. NOTE TO THE MODS: I know I have a thread for this already, but I thought it would be better to start fresh than try and refresh everything on the first post. Plus, the title was no longer the right one, as I cast off all the Ninjago parts of the story. Sorry, but I had to make a new start.... (Also, please note I am using the camera on my phone for these pictures. They might be slightly blurry in some cases.) Real background: I built this ship from two Adventurers sets: I used the boat from set 5975 (T-Rex Transport) and modified slightly to resemble set 5976 (River Expedition). The ship features a boiler, steering wheel and a bigger smoke-stack. I have added a complete bridge with removable roof instead of the open topped one on my previous version of the ship. Also, I have recently added a mast to the front of the ship, and changed the name to the Great West. Fictional background: Built in 1917 for Throwing Star Freight Lines as an ocean going tramp steam ship, the Great West was constructed in a far off land not shown on most globe or maps. The ship is captained by Edward Karloff, who is also the owner of Throwing Star Freight Lines and good friend of Johnny Thunder. In fact, Johnny uses the Great West to run supply routes for his Adventurers quests all over the globe. When not on duty, the ship and Captain Karloff can be found at the Adventurers resupply depot, located on a tropical island in the Atlantic Ocean halfway between where Dino Island is and the mouth of the Amazon river. The top floor of the ship is the bridge - this area contains a nautical telegraph (to control speed) and the wheel. (to control direction) The bottom floor features a table covered with ancient papers and sea charts, plus a glass jar with a some thing strange inside. ( it's actually this OGEL ice orb from Alpha Team: http://alpha.brickli...3626bpb0091#T=C ) Some of these old papers contain places not seen on any globe or any modern map. Also that red thing is a dynamite plunger... just in case! Some of the recent cargo of the Great West includes: - silver ingots and coins - silver and gold nuggets - Dynamite (the accompanying plunger is in the Captain's Quarters / map room) - Ancient spears - the Maltese Chicken - Two halves of a long-lost pirate's treasure map - Money - large rough-cut ruby Captain Edward Karloff and his dog, Madame Blue. LDD file (boat only, no cargo or captain): http://www.mocpages....1451495112m.lxf This concludes the tour of the ship. Comments, Questions, Suggestions for additions or modifications and Complaints are always welcome. Keep on Adventuring!
  19. This thread is to put for anybody to put their Adventurers, / Pharaoh's Quest / Monster Fighters figures, and generic people of the same time-frame. (1920's / 1930's) They can put any figures of that era, or from books or movies set in that era. The Great Gatsby meets Johnny Thunder at a cafe or maybe Sam Sinister wants to steal the Maltese Falcon, but Beloq (from Indiana Jones) gets it first. Either way, the era between the World Wars works for me. Here is the first bit, which combines all three themes under one banner. (please remember that my cell phone photography skills are near zero, so most of these are off in one way or another.) In the early 1920's, inquisitive minds and hardy souls, both good and evil, scour the corners of the Earth looking for lost civilizations and vast treasures. Some search for their own personal gain, or limitless power, others search for knowledge in a quest to preserve the past for the future. Good or evil they are known as... THE ADVENTURERS From left to right: THE BAD GUYS Senor Palomar Old friend of the Sinister family. He runs a vast South American artifact smuggling ring, as Sam Sinister's second in command. Alexis Sinister Sister of Lord Sam Sinister, evil, loves traps and weapons, secretly wants to turn Johnny Thunder evil. Lord Sam Sinister Arch enemy of Johnny Thunder, thief of lost treasures and great fortunes, plus is a mastermind of evil THE GOOD GUYS Johnny Thunder Australian explorer with a all- around can-do attitude. Always looking forward towards the future, but an eye on preserving the past. Miss Pippin Reed Former journalist, expert pilot, and a great friend to all in need. Jake Raines Hotheaded former pupil of Johnny Thunder's late friend, Dr. Charles Kilroy. Student of almost all sciences, but a firm believer in the supernatural. Major Quentin Steele English army officer turned monster hunter, tracker extraordinaire, and is a crack shot with any gun. CITIZENS OF THE 1920's These figures are not named, and so are located here. Their is one other figure not under any classification, and that is the signature figure of me as a railroad engineer. I am not in the group because I am named, but am not with the Adventurers because I am not in the story-lines of any of the themes listed above. First Imperial Bank employees Left to right: bank manager - teller number 1 - teller number 2 Law Enforcement & City of Ironwood officials Left to right: Sheriff - Mayor - Silver mine owner - town doctor Railroad Workers Left to right: local railroad official - station master - passenger train conductor - steam locomotive fireman Shop Keepers & etc. Left to right: General Store owner - post office master - bar maid OTHER PEOPLE This is where armies and named non - Adventurers go. Army of the Crossed Sabers (The evil country of Ogel's land forces, known as the Army of the Crossed Sabers, which is temporarily commanded by Lord Sam Sinister on board the Battle-cruiser HMS Vladeck.) Left to right: Captain of the HMS Vladeck, Ogel soldiers (x6) Named non-Adventurers Left to right: Madame Blue (the dog), Captain Karloff (owner of Madame Blue and the tramp steamer "Great West"), Murdoch (engineer for Brick Railway Systems on their steam trains) END (SO FAR) I hope everyone liked my list, and feel free to add your own too. Happy Adventuring / Questing / Fighting Monsters!
  20. So here's my latest build: I've always been a fan of this theme but I only have sets from the Dinoisland subtheme as a kid. This build is kind of an homage to the older sets but in an updated fashion. Check out the rest of the pictures on my Flickr.
  21. (This may apply to the Action & Adventure theme forum, but since it's just a bunch of vehicles I put it here. Sorry if this topic needs to be moved!) Tramp Steamer I built this ship from two Adventurers sets: I used the boat from set 5975 (T-Rex Transport) and modified slightly to resemble set 5976 (River Expedition). The ship features a boiler, steering wheel and a bigger smoke-stack. I have also added a complete bridge with removable roof instead of the open topped one on my previous version of the ship. The top floor of the ship is the bridge - this area contains a nautical telegraph (to control speed) and the wheel (to control direction)... and yes, there is a piece out of place. I fixed it after taking this photo. The lower floor features the boiler room. It is empty right now, but could be re-purposed into a captain's cabin. Island Hopper seaplane This is a seaplane based off 2008 Indiana Jones set 7628 (Peril In Peru), along with inspiration from 2000 Adventurers set 5935 (Island Hopper) thrown in for good measure. This part goes on both sides of the tail: http://alpha.brickli...=87079pb006#T=C The plane now has a interior that seats five people: 1 pilot and four passengers. Treasure Chaser - Johnny Thunder's ride This model was inspired by sets 7622, Race for the Stolen Treasure, and 5918, Scorpion Tracker. Ford Model AA truck This one was heavily inspired by set 10222, Winter Village Post Office. I originally built it from the pictures before instructions came out. 1922 MOON Automobile This car was originally a Rolls Royce Phantom MKII first designed by Carl Greatrix that got transformed into a MOON Touring car. (no, the the jalopy from the Apollo Moon missions, but the car company from St. Louis MO!) once I realized how close they were to each other in style cues. I guess I did the usual car building process backwards: build the car, then find a real life counterpart, instead of building the car off a specific type. Roaring 20's Gangster Sedan This model was modified from set 7682, Shanghai Chase. Perfect for smuggling illegal alcohol or setting up a drive by for friendly meeting with the rival gangs. Gasoline tanker truck Built from set 7683, Fight on the Flying Wing and modified to have a radiator grille and a better fuel tank. Island Racer mark II I modified my copy of set 5920 to have a longer wheelbase and a spare wheel. I also modernized the engine area with special attention paid to the grille. Lord Sam Sinister's personal vehicle This model was inspired by the recent announcement of the Super Man "Action Comics Number 1" exclusive San Diego Comic Con 2015 LEGO set, which I then extended and improved into the model seen here. This part goes on the rear license plate spot: http://www.bricklink....asp?P=3069bpa1 and as a bonus here is my favorite picture: A Sinister Encounter In case you wonder what is so sinister about the picture, the name of the person who owns the house is Lord Sam Sinister, an evil man who hates the owner of the plane: Johnny Thunder and his friend and aviatrix of the seaplane, Pippin Reed.
  22. Sorry, that was a long and odd title, I couldn't think of anything really catchy. Also, I put this in town forum because it involves land-based town vehicles with some sci-fi features thrown in for good measure. (I hope this is okay, but you mods can move it if you want!) Also, I will update this thread when need be to prove these have been built in real life and are not just digital models. Classic Space car (Benny the Blue astronaut) This is Benny the 1980-something space guy's car while on Earth. It was used to travel to the movie studio when making the LEGO Movie, and is now normally parked at Benny's summer home in Bricksburg. The model features a row of space-ship styled seats and "double" tail lights. (I used a trans-red grille to create a nice effect.) the white tile above the rear bumper is supposed to be Benny's license plate. This part goes on the sloped rear of the car: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=30363pb021 Here is the car in real life. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1434990478m.lxf Neo-Nexus Force automobile (Bob from LEGO Universe) Here we see Bob's car for use on Earth. Bob uses the car to travel from his Military Surplus shop in Ironwood to a classified location where he then moves on to his base, Ice Station Destiny, which is located in Polaris star system. This car can seat one figure and is supposed to have this print on the 2x2 slope situated on the trunk: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=15068pb004 Bob's car can also fly using the same basic STARK hover technology as Nick Fury's S.H.I.E.L.D. car does. (Bob is a good friend of Tony Stark and is also on good terms with Bruce Wayne, as he tests out their new tech for both of them) (real world picture goes here when I build this model) LDD file for the car: http://www.mocpages....1437422963m.lxf Treasure Raider (Johnny Thunder) This is Johnny Thunder's car, and has been used from the Great Pyramids of Egypt to the Great Wall of China, to the depths of the Amazon jungles of Peru and even to places not listed on any map where dinosaurs still roam the Earth. The car features seating for two an full-size spare tire (perfect for those times when you jump over a cliff and cause a dented wheel hub while trying to make your getaway from the approaching enemy forces) Here is the real model of the car. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1404178315m.lxf Evil Intentions (Lord Sam Sinister) Here we see the car of Lord Sam Sinister which may or may not have been involved in stealing artifacts and treasures the world over, and was definitely not involved in the botched attempt to ransom the Great Sphinx of Giza's nose. It also was never anywhere close to being hauled onto a battle-cruiser named the HMS Vladeck, which by the way, is not from the country of Ogel. It most certainly was never photographed headed to Antarctica, where it won't locate the lost City of the Ancients. (also known as Atlantis) The car can seat two people, and is supposed to have this license plate where the white 1x2 tile is: http://www.bricklink....asp?P=3069bpa1 Here is the photograph I wasn't talking about before. The LDD file is available here: http://www.mocpages....1436387276m.lxf This concludes the post for now... more vehicles may come eventually.
  23. Twelve years ago, when I was fourteen years old and about a year away from entering my Dark Age, I received the set 7417: Temple of Mount Everest. I still have all the pieces, with the exception of one minifigure head, and I rebuilt the biplane over a year ago. However, since I now have a full-time Lego cave, I decided I wanted to rebuild the set. But before I started, I realized that there were things I wanted to change about it--including improving the landscaping and making the structure itself look more authentically Tibetan. I also wanted to display my Lego Movie Johnny Thunder minifigure (as well as my Dr. Kilroy and modified Pippin Reed minifigures) around my newly acquired 70751: Temple of Airjitzu. I decided to tackle both issues by making a MOC that would explain our intrepid Adventurers' arrival in the land of Ninjago and use 7417 as a template. I decided to present the aspects of my creation in loose story form (hope this is OK--if not, a mod can let me know and I'll delete most of the text). So, without further ado, I present to you my MOC/modified 7417. "My good friends," said Sherpa Sangye Dorje, "the way to the Temple of Passage is easy from here. I regret that I must part ways with you, after all he help you gave me last time you were in Tibet, but this chorten is not allowed to be passed by any of my people." The three adventurers expressed their gratitude and, after gifts were exchanged, the Sherpa headed back the way that he had come. As they watched him disappear into the blinding whiteness, Johnny shook his head. "Local superstitions." "Johnny," said Pippin, "you've stopped a magic ruby from falling into military hands. You've returned a sacred sun disk to its owner, you've discovered an island of dinosaurs, you've seen a yeti and a living stone lion--and so much more. Sometimes I wish you'd put a little more trust in local superstitions!" "Right you are, Miss Reed! But I have a feeling that this one is something special. Kilroy! Do you think you can find the way to this temple, mate?" "No doubt about it, Johnny! If this map is accurate, it shouldn't be too far away at all! And indeed, before too long at all, the three adventurers beheld the Temple of Passage. Though the rope bridge looked precarious, the adventurers began to cross it, with Johnny at the lead. All was going well, until. . . . "Stop right there, Thunder, and listen to me--or I'll cut the ropes!" It was Lord Sinister! Although it had appeared for quite some time that he had reformed, the adventurers knew he would eventually pop up again with one of his villainous schemes. "This temple is sure to be booby trapped, with the great treasure it holds! I want you to be the one to open the doors and step inside first--and then make way for me!" Johnny couldn't help but agree--after all, he might still have a chance this way, but it would be over for them all if Sinister cut the ropes. When they had crossed the bridge, Johnny removed the heavy wooden lock, opened the door, and stepped inside, only to find. . . . "It's just a monk!" shouted Sinister. "Just a monk, some candles, and a jar! Blast! There must be some mistake! Move aside, while I make this fool tell me what he's done with the treasure!" He shoved Johnny out of the way and ran in brandishing his knife, ready to do whatever he could in order to find what he sought. But as soon as he ran inside, the monk rose from his meditation pillow . . . . . . catapulting Sinister into the air and outside of the temple! He beckoned Johnny and his friends: "Come in, and do not be afraid! I know that you are supposed to be here. My messengers have already told me of your discussions with the Sherpa. Let me show you the location of what you seek." The monk pulled a small lever underneath his meditation mat. Just like that, the floor lowered. The monk lowered himself down and invited the adventurers to do the same. They were pleased to find cushions at the bottom. They also found . . . "The passage between two worlds!" Kilroy gasped. "Behold!" said the monk. "The flames are being drawn inwards. This means that you may enter the passageway. When you are ready, you may step beyond the candles and you will be pulled into another world. But beware: you will not be able to return until the passageway switches directions once again. It could take minutes . . . or it could take months. There was one stretch of time when the passage did not reverse for three years. Are you truly prepared for what you may find?" "Thank you for the warning, mate--err, lama. It's a serious undertaking, that's for sure. But there's adventure to be had and discoveries to be made on the other side of that passage, and it's calling our names!" "So be it, Johnny Thunder. I hope to see you again soon, when you are ready to return." And with that, the three friends stepped out of their world and into a new one. Here's one more shot of the temple for good measure (in case the outdoor shots were too distracting): Thanks for looking!
  24. Here's a quick build as a "Birthday Card" and gift for my son Daniel. Click on the picture for more detail: The warriors of the Mighty Amazon Tribe of the Sunshine Scepter are not fans of Johnny Thunder. They don't want his autograph. They wouldn't want to take a selfie with him (though they would want to take one with his head. Just his head. For Johnny has stolen their Sunshine Scepter, which many years ago they themselves had rightfully stolen from another tribe after wiping them out (but that was OK, because that tribe had wiped another tribe out for it as well). No one knew where that tribe had gotten it from...but Johnny knew where it was now going! Now the poor Amazon Tribe of the Sushine Scepter, no longer the rightful possessors of The Shiny Thing, have been forced to rename themselves. They are now known as the Mighty Amazon Tribe of the Moldy Tunafish Sandwich Left Behind By Lord Sam Sinister. Happy Birthday son! Comments welcome, Cheers!
  25. Johnny Thunder was first released in 1998. He was the star of four Adventurers themes from 1998-2003. He also appeared in LEGO Studios and Jurassic Park lll sets as well as several video games during this period. That was the last we heard of him until a brief appearance in 2010's LEGO Universe video game. Then, in 2014, Johnny made a dramatic cameo appearance in The LEGO Movie. This appearance led to the inclusion of a Johnny Thunder minifigure in set 70815 Super Secret Police Dropship. This was significant because LEGO created a whole new torso (part #973pb1724c01) and head (part #3626cpa3) for Johnny Thunder As of this posting that is the only set in which these new parts have been. Johnny also appeared in the 2015 Scooby Doo 75900 Mummy Museum Mystery on a sticker. Could this be the beginning of a Johnny Thunder comeback? Would LEGO create a new torso and head for just one set? Your comments are appreciated.
