Adventure awaits! - 1920s Adventurers cars - real world MOCs - revised 4/24/24

Here are my two revamped Adventurers vehicles: the tan Scorpion Tracker owned by Johnny Thunder, and the red Island Racer purchased by Lord Sam Sinister. SCORPION TRACKER This car was heavily modified from a model by BricksAA and these free MOC instructions over on Rebrickable. The car is named the Scorpion Tracker, named after set 5918 (Scorpion Tracker) but styled after set 2995. (Adventurers car and skeleton) The car also features a spare tire hanging at the back of the vehicle. This vehicle can seat three figures total, which usually means Johnny at the wheel, Dr. Kilroy riding shotgun beside him and Pippin Reed seated in the back. ISLAND RACER I took another look at 2020 set 40409 (Hot Rod) and, after tinkering with it a bit, was reminded of the 2000 set 5920 (Island Racer) from Adventurers. I thought about how the styles could merge into one car, and this is the result. The grille, headlights, and bonnet have all been changed, and the color swapped from blue to red. I also used the longer red wheel arches to go around the short red arches extreme scarcity. (I actually like this change better, honestly.) Thoughts? EDITED 4/24/24: I changed around the Scorpion Tracker to have it's top down. The newly revised Johnny Thunder, Pippin Reed and Dr. Kilroy are also shown. -

Adventurers - Sinister Hall with Roaring 1920's style car - 70912 / 70911 real life MOCs

(NOTE: Since this is a Adventurers building for my town and not situated in a jungle, desert or something like that, I thought it would be okay to post it in the town forum. If the mods don't like it here, feel free to move it to the Action and Adventure forum.) This model was inspired by set 70912, (Arkham Asylum) from the LEGO Batman Movie theme and was built for Lord Sam Sinister, the main bad guy from the Adventurers theme. Whereas that set is only the front facade of the building, this model features two opening rear quarter sections to reveal the interior details plus a tower in the front above the front door. The model consists of three sections: the front half, the left quarter and the right quarter. The stylish car is modified version of set 70911, (Arctic Roller). The car model is about 8 studs wide (with a tiny 1/2 stud bit of overhang on each side due to the front rims) and 28 studs long in total. This model can fit one figure sans top-hat in the driver's seat and has space for a briefcase or top hat in the trunk. The rear of the mansion features rows of windows and a stone fireplace flue on the left side, plus a window on the lower left for the small dungeon. The model consists of three sections: the front half, the left quarter and the right quarter. Each section is connected to the next with two hinges and a small set of two Technic pins (one per side) to lock it shut. The front half of the building features a drawing room on the left side of the picture, a living room on the opposite side, and the bedroom on the upper floor, which also has access to the tower above the main entrance. The spaces below the stairs are a wine cellar / kitchen on the right with the large casks, and on the left is the dungeon for any do-gooder spying on Sam Sinister. The right quarter has the other half of the ground floor dining room and part of the kitchen / wine cellar, a couch in the living room and a phonograph in the bedroom. The left quarter features the fireplace mantle and flue (the year 1892 as stated above the fireplace mantle reflects the year of the house's construction) , plus one half of the dining room on the ground floor. The room with the bars on the windows is the dungeon for unwelcome "guests" of Sam Sinister. The car by itself is about 8 studs wide (with a tiny 1/2 stud bit of overhang on each side due to the front wheel wells) and 28 studs long in total. As a side note, the headlights are not clipped in the same way as the original set had, and are instead sandwiched in place with 1 x 6 plates and headlight bricks. The rear of the car features a license plate for Lord Sam Sinister and dual exhaust. The car can fit two figures sans top-hat in the driver's seat and has space for a briefcase or top hat in the trunk. EDITED 1/3/18: Added real life pictures and newly updated text. Of course, comments, questions and complaints are welcome, and a big shout out to @sander1992 who, among others, are helping keep the Adventurers spirit very much alive! -
This model was based on set 21132 from the Minecraft theme, which was expanded and modified to be quite a bit larger with surrounding rock features, dangerous rope bridge, a second room and cave for the man-tiger creature. The first half of the map (the one the pirate had) described in the text is this one here while the one half Johnny had is in this link. Early summer, 1926, somewhere in the jungles of a forgotten island off the coast of South America... This is it: the Temple of the Unknown Question. Inside this structure is the other-worldly Guardian which will grant you either fantastic riches, immortality, or infinite knowledge... your choice is one of those three. (If you answer it's question correctly of course!) To reach the secluded temple, Johnny Thunder had to follow a certain map: the only problem was a 17th century pirate had the other half of said map on his ship. To find the temple, he had to find pirate, who had already answered the question and become immortal. Upon finding him, the pirate gave the map (and some advice) to Johnny, who then had it stolen by Lord Sam Sinister. After following Sam to the hidden island and the temple therein, Johnny and company have to think fast to stop Sam from getting to the ancient guardian first! Just your average rickety / unstable rope bridge, placed right before the temple entrance. ...It even collapses on the pull of a Technic pin! Three switches are inside the first room. The two outer ones will unlock the the mechanism to reveal a treasure chest, while the middle one is a dummy lever. With the two outer levers flipped down, the chest is revealed. However, inside this chest is a Pandora's box of sorts: opening it will let out a bright light for 30 seconds or so, as it sucks those unfortunate enough to see the light into the infinitely larger space in the chest and then slams shut on itself. (kinda like the Ark of the Covenant from "Raiders of the Lost Ark") In universe, this box will be taken by Sam Sinister as he thinks it contains the treasure he seeks. Meanwhile the good guys notice the door to a second room and crawl through it as soon as the bad guys leave with the false treasure. This secret second room holds the treasure guardian statue, and a back exit from the temple via a damaged wall. Just be careful not to wake the mighty tiger-man on your way out! In-universe description: The real treasure is inside the second room: after seeing the notched arrows placed by the pirate many years ago on the first room's walls, Johnny finds the small secret door and enters this room to find the guardian and five jewels. (four on walls, one on the staff in guardian's hand) The statue awakens, and asks for a member of the party to come forward to receive the question. Heeding the pirate's advice, he sends Miss Pippin Reed to do the honors, as she alone can answer what no man can answer. (she is no man, after all) After relaying the answer via whisper, her mind is wiped of the question and answer, and is given the choice of immeasurable wealth, eternal life or infinite knowledge. She chooses not to choose, saying the gifts are too large for one person (or group of people) to share. Thus, the adventurers walk back outside and plant dynamite to blow the temple sky-high, thus destroying any chance of anyone, good or evil ever getting the question right again. The man-tiger guards his cave under the temple. Be careful Johnny and company, or you'll be a mid-afternoon snack for this hungry fellow! BUILDER'S NOTES: This is the original LDD build of the temple... quite a change to now! EDIT 8/3/17: Added more recent real life pictures and modified the text!

Old Fashioned vehicles - Adventurers real brick models from LDD builds

Before we begin this topic, here are some notes: -some of these builds have LDD files, most do not. -Most of these models should probably go in the Town forum, but they were built for Johnny's time period, so here they are. -I personally think that Johnny Thunder was mentioned to be set from about 1920 to 1924. Jake Raines from Pharoph's Quest was from 1922 (that is officially when it was, as stated by LEGO), so in my version Jake is a former student of Kilroy at the University where the good doctor taught until his untimely death in early 1925. (after Orient Expedition ended) Johnny & Jake met at the Kilroy's funeral, and eventually went adventuring along with Major Quentin Steele, who happens to be Lords Sam Sinister's old commander in World War 1. (Major Steele is from Monster Fighters, set around 1921.) With these points in mind, let's join Johnny and his friends in a never ending battle against the Sinister forces of evil... In the early 1920's, inquisitive minds and hardy souls, both good and evil, scour the corners of the Earth looking for lost civilizations and vast treasures. Some search for their own personal gain, or limitless power, others search for knowledge in a quest to preserve the past for the future. Good or evil they are known as...
