    60154 + 4564 = 37?

First off, I would like to say that, no, I am not terrible at maths! All shall be explained! (Sorry, this may be quite a lot of reading!) The Back Story: First aspect: Some weeks ago, I was having a general look for sets that might be of interest to me. I stumbled upon a very good deal on the Lego City Bus Station (Set no. 60154). I decided in a spur of the moment purchase to pick up 2 sets, with no real plan… That’s what sowed the seed! Second aspect: In the not so distant past, I had purchased a huge Lego haul from eBay containing many train set items and accessories. In amongst this, was an incomplete copy of the Lego Freight Rail Runner (Set no. 4564) – (maybe 80% complete) – at the time I didn’t really know what to do with it. Over time I harvested the 9V motor, wheels, couplings, bogie plates, wagon parts and straight track – basically all the good stuff! Now, I’m a big fan of seeing people doing set combining! I have never seen anyone attempt something like this! (Correct me if I’m wrong!) The Hypothesis: “Is it feasible to make a decent looking locomotive of any kind, combining Sets 60154 and 4564? – Using minimal significant other parts, but in cases where necessary only using parts I currently have, and not resorting to ordering things. The locomotive should ideally use Power Functions with 2 motors, lights are not necessary. Also, the finished model should be sturdy, strong, and able to be played with by children.” Answer, Was It Possible? Yes, and in my opinion, it turned out rather well. What I attempted to build was a massively simplified Class 37, with much artistic licence! Here is the finished product: Thus, the idea for “60154 + 4564 = 37?” was born! What do you think? Any questions, thoughts, or criticism will be much appreciated. Regards, James :)
  3. Hello! I'd like to present my newest modular, which I completed late last year. This is my biggest Modular MOC to date and features three different business all under one roof: A book store, an ice cream parlor, and a music shop! Here's the overview of the building. At the street level, there is a music store facing south and an ice creamery facing east. Next to the ice cream shop is the entrance to the upstairs bookstore. A street level view of the south side of the building. A close-up of the music store facade, with an interior view. A street level view of the east side. Ice cream shop facade close-up. Top-down view of the ground floor. Inside the music store. "Weird Al" Yankovic is looking for a new accordion. Inside the ice cream shop. The hippie was disappointed that there were no vegan options available. Inside the bookstore, where the mechanic is looking for a nice book on Eastern philosophy while the old man gets sucked in to his favorite spy novel. ] The employees are always helpful for those searching for that perfect book or to froth some milk for a nice hot latte to go with it. Some of the customers prefer their books to be read to them by a celebrity. The upstairs reading loft comes out to give access to the area below. After completing his purchase, the mechanic asked the bookstore girl out for ice cream, and they seem to have hit it off. "Weird Al" Yankovic was a little disappointed that the shop didn't carry accordions, but he did find a good deal on a new guitar. Meanwhile, the old man just can't put down that spy novel. I do have one minor confession! I used a non-Lego part (The BrickWarriors Spartan Shield) as a building decoration. I didn't realize it was a custom piece at the time of the build, having acquired it in a large bulk purchase a few weeks before. Being a purist when it comes to my MOCing, I've since removed and replaced it, but I just had to get that off my chest. Whew! There are plenty more pics in my Flickr folder! Thanks for looking!

    The Great Scorpion

Gallery The Great Scorpion is My Own Creation I built in LDD. However, it's possible to recreate it with real pieces.
  5. NOTE TO THE MODS: I know I have a thread for this already, but I thought it would be better to start fresh than try and refresh everything on the first post. Plus, the title was no longer the right one, as I cast off all the Ninjago parts of the story. Sorry, but I had to make a new start.... (Also, please note I am using the camera on my phone for these pictures. They might be slightly blurry in some cases.) Real background: I built this ship from two Adventurers sets: I used the boat from set 5975 (T-Rex Transport) and modified slightly to resemble set 5976 (River Expedition). The ship features a boiler, steering wheel and a bigger smoke-stack. I have added a complete bridge with removable roof instead of the open topped one on my previous version of the ship. Also, I have recently added a mast to the front of the ship, and changed the name to the Great West. Fictional background: Built in 1917 for Throwing Star Freight Lines as an ocean going tramp steam ship, the Great West was constructed in a far off land not shown on most globe or maps. The ship is captained by Edward Karloff, who is also the owner of Throwing Star Freight Lines and good friend of Johnny Thunder. In fact, Johnny uses the Great West to run supply routes for his Adventurers quests all over the globe. When not on duty, the ship and Captain Karloff can be found at the Adventurers resupply depot, located on a tropical island in the Atlantic Ocean halfway between where Dino Island is and the mouth of the Amazon river. The top floor of the ship is the bridge - this area contains a nautical telegraph (to control speed) and the wheel. (to control direction) The bottom floor features a table covered with ancient papers and sea charts, plus a glass jar with a some thing strange inside. ( it's actually this OGEL ice orb from Alpha Team: http://alpha.brickli...3626bpb0091#T=C ) Some of these old papers contain places not seen on any globe or any modern map. Also that red thing is a dynamite plunger... just in case! Some of the recent cargo of the Great West includes: - silver ingots and coins - silver and gold nuggets - Dynamite (the accompanying plunger is in the Captain's Quarters / map room) - Ancient spears - the Maltese Chicken - Two halves of a long-lost pirate's treasure map - Money - large rough-cut ruby Captain Edward Karloff and his dog, Madame Blue. LDD file (boat only, no cargo or captain): http://www.mocpages....1451495112m.lxf This concludes the tour of the ship. Comments, Questions, Suggestions for additions or modifications and Complaints are always welcome. Keep on Adventuring!
  6. Hello. What do you think about my interpretation of new X-Wing and Special Force TIE? X-Wing was based on the new Poe's X-Wing polybag TIE was my idea :D
  7. I have motorized my 7939-inspired MOC and added a new engine inspired by early Box-cab diesels. This is my first couple of motorized MOCs ever, and I'm not sure I did it quite right. I won't be building them, but if anyone wants to take a crack at them be my guest. Here is the front view. The yellow engine is also build able in red or black, while the blue engine is also build able in white. The cab on the yellow engine opens up, but the blue loco is inaccessible at this time. It may be possible to fix this, but it would require a roof redesign and I don't feel like redoing the engine (again) right now... Here we see the innards of the engines: The triple A Battery box and IR receiver. There are two 2x2 holes in the frame of the engine for a PF cord to the motor. No lights are included, but it may be possible to make them fit inside if you really wanted to. The roof sections that are hidden in this picture are removable, and are held on by four studs each. LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1432672946m.lxf As I said above, these are my first motorized models, so please tell me if I did something wrong. Also, Comments, Questions, & Complains are always welcome!
  8. Hey Guys welcome to my MOC of the Lord of the Skull Spiders in humanoid form during absorbing/fusioning with Pohatu. I love constracting my own canon with Bionicle and I love darker storylines, so here is what happened: When the Toa landed on Okoto, Onua just met Pohatu. They decided to search for the other Toa their Protectors have them told of. On their way they found the Lord of the Skull Spiders and his giant army. Seeing that he has no chance against these Toa, the Lord of Skull Spiders commanded his army to distract Onua and Pohatu, while he could do a ruse on Pohatu. He absorbed Pohatu and gained more power than ever before. Now he could beat Onua and bring him under his controll. It is the destiny of the four Toa left to liberate their Brothers and get rid of the Lord of Skull Spiders. This is my first MOC using CCBS since I stopped collecting BIONICLE in 2007. A wave of nostalgia lead me to buy the new 2015 Bionicle, so =D His Body is pretty simple built since it is Pohatus build. His golden armour is Onua's, I swapped the Onua's golden plates with silver ones because it looks better in my opinion. His extra arms came from the Protector of Fire and his weapons, well, just some old style Bionicle swords :D Will the other Toa defeat this powerful enemy and free their brothers?
  9. Hello again! From the beginning of December 2014 LEGO gave me an opportunity to play with new Bionicle 2015 pieces. 50 Kilos. In return I had to build some MOCs and sent them my photos. LEGO gave me 2 weeks of pleasure. After that time I had to sent them back all Bionicle 2015 pieces and all MOCs I created with them. They said they would like to use them for Public Relations purposes. But they also said I can use photos in my gallery/forum etc. If you're interested in more details, you can see my little propaganda video: ... don't forget to turn captions on! Ok, I think I made my point and it is good time to show my MOCs. I decided to post here only some basic pictures and links - that's because I don't want to make topic too huge. More infos about heroes and others in my flickr/DA descriptions: FlickR (all project Bionicle 2015 photos) DeviantArt (all project Bionicle 2015 photos, additional gallery) FlickR (my second account) (photos of 50 kilos, new Bionicle parts etc.) I also give some links related to topic on my blog. I'm sorry I didn't translate it into English but I think it my be more practical to show MOCs' photos in that way. I don't think that the text is interesting - on flickR/DA should be all of my story in English. 1. Dark Lord BRICKSHELF A topic on my blog (some extra photos). The Bush of Power: 2. 10. This is model I have built back in the first half of 2012. I don´t have the physical model anymore, but I just found the pics I had in my archive and decided to finally post it. It´s a steampunk submarine, originated from a former pirate ship that was converted. It had no interiors. It was simply a tryout into this world I quite love and admire for its aesthetic richness but to which I had never dared to dive. So, here's my first steampunk adventure! :) There´s more pictures of it on my flickr. Just follow any of the links of the pictures! :)
