  1. Last time (in this topic https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/168782-moc-ss-venture/ ) I promised that I'll show you where our favored adventurers team is swimming. So here they are. :-) Johnny Thunder and Dr Kilroy go to the bottom of the sea to find Poseidon's Trident. Please listen to soundtrack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0vFUxE3SrM and find all of octopuses. :-) https://www.flickr.com/photos/158283415@N03/47351956131/in/photostream/
  2. Sphinx Secret Surprise was my favourite childhood LEGO set. It was released Twenty Years ago! I have created a tribute to the main feature of the set, The Great Sphinx. I adored the set, my largest ever single LEGO set as a child and I adored the Adventure theme. Egyptology was one of my real interests when I was a child and I was about the only eight year old who wanted to be an Archaeologist. So, I just had to create a tribute. A MOC that was a representation of the set as I saw it in my minds eye as I played. Deep in the desert many adventurers and archaeologists have descended upon the Great Spinx to seek out treasures and clues to the mysteries they pursue. The front elevation. As with the original set there is a concealed secret... Surprise! The black statue is a the key to a simple mechanism that reveals the Pharaoh on his throne. Pulling the base forward causes the throne platform to move forward and knock down the panel. A view from above. This is one of my larger builds. Only beaten out by my Yellow Castle . The two side views. One features my favourite little capra and the other a statue uncovered in the base of the Sphinx's plinth. Here some tricksy tomb thieves are about to meet a freaky foe! Jake Raines and his friends have made a find and are hoping for more. Meanwhile, Johnny Thunder and Doctor Lightning have been very successful in their dig. Gale Storm is documenting the moment. What a shot! I hope you enjoyed this MOC. I certainly had fun building it and it has gone down very well with LEGO fans young and old alike when I display it. I hope to create versions of the other features of the set on a similar scale to this MOC. I also want to have something of an Adventure layout to display, I'll of course share them here once I make them.
  3. Johnny Thunder and friends set out to another adventure. This time road is going by sea. This is S.S. Venture based on Peters Jackson King Kong. The ship is about 75 studs long. It's old because budget is low. :-) https://www.flickr.com/photos/158283415@N03/32169762038 I hope next year I'll show you where they reached.
  4. Adventurers Resupply Depot (v2) I took the "Old Fishing Store" Ideas set number 21310 and turned back the clock on it from a rundown fishing shop in the modern era to a modular 1920's supply depot for Johnny Thunder and his friends, also known as the Adventurers. I added a set 7596-style freight Crane that's a part of "Trash Compacter Escape" (a Toy Story 3 set). I revised the color scheme of the mainly dark bluish gray building instead of the original sand green, and removed a ton of the mixed bunch of colors that were used a "patch jobs" on the dock and building proper. I also removed the roof and redid it completely to be brick-built with slopes instead of plates and tiles at a cert ain angle. I even stripped the many windows styles off and replaced them with a single type. I added a warehouse section to the lower floor by sending one of the walls about 16 studs back, allowing for storage space for various equipment not yet designed. NOTE: The sign on the front on the building, just on top of the awning should have these two GREAT WEST printed parts (showing off the name of the depot), while inside the blue poster should feature one of theses two RADIATOR SPRINGS prints on top and bottom. The back wall of the building shows off the new wall art placed on the roof section of the building: a giant propeller from a ship of some kind. This gives the dock a gritty, downtown, waterfront industrial feel, at least to me. The yellow square is supposed to have this electricity danger tile print. The back wall now opens in one single section, but the inside is a rough estimate. Some parts I already have from my previous depot model from almost 1 1/2 years ago, such as the safe, radio and various maps. Also, the two freight loading doors actually open and shut quite nicely. The model comes apart into four sections, with the main roof, tower, tower roof, and main building + dock all separating from each other. The crane was totally copied from my previous depot model, which itself was duplicated and color-changed from the dark green / white one in the Toys Story 3 set I mentioned earlier. Original depot design is in the SPOILER tag: Steam tramp freighter EASTERN STAR I built this 103-stud long 1920's Adventurers tramp steam ship from two Adventurers sets: I used the boat from set 5975 (T-Rex Transport) and modified slightly to resemble set 5976 (River Expedition). The ship features a lifeboat, steering wheel, and a smoke-stack plus I have the bridge with removable roof for the top deck of the ship, and captain's quarters for the lower floor. I also have signs on the front of the ship spelling out the name of the vessel: the Eastern Star. The ladders hanging on the side of the lower deck lead the way to the ship's bridge on the upper level. The life boat is also back here. Here you can see inside the ship's bridge (upper deck) and captain's quarters. (lower level) Some of the recent cargo of the Eastern Star includes: - a gyro-copter - silver ingots and coins - silver and gold nuggets - Dynamite (the accompanying plunger is in the Captain's Quarters / map room) - Ancient spears - the real Maltese Falcon - the Burma Chicken (long-lost cousin to the Falcon) - two halves of a long-lost pirate's treasure map - Money - large rough-cut ruby - poison bottles - antidote bottles - and many other items! Bi-wing pontoon plane THUNDER BLAZER Fly farther and higher than ever before with the Adventurers and their Pontoon bi-plane! This vintage style airplane features two re-purposed kayaks for floats, and dual shotguns for forward-facing protection from the forces of Lord Sam Sinister, while the rear of the vehicle has a gunner's seat with rotating machine-gun turret. (Just be sure to not shoot off the tail of the plane while flying!) In reality, this model was heavily inspired by 2018 set 31076 (Daredevil Stunt Plane) with a gunner seat from set 7186 (Fighter Plane Attack) from 2009. The pontoon floats from kayaks were my own idea, and I think are used in a new and unique way. This model comes with rotating prop, seats for the pilot and gunner and swiveling machine gun turret. Seaplane ISLAND HOPPER What do you get when you combine an Adventurers seaplane, a Indiana Jones DC-3, and a Creator rip-off of the Seaduck from the TV show Tailspin? This model of course! The seaplane seen here is based off the 2008 Indiana Jones set 7628 (Peril In Peru), the 2017 Creator set 31064 (Island Adventures), along with inspiration from 2000 Adventurers set 5935 (Island Hopper) thrown in for good measure. The idea behind this model is to depict a updated version of one of my favorite classic LEGO themes: "Adventurers", but with modern techniques and parts using two of my favorites plane designs smashed together. The rear of the plane makes use of a Toy Story 3 printed 2 x 4 tile for a registration number. The plane has a interior that seats six people: 1 pilot and five passengers. The seats are accessible thought the removable roof / wings. Auto-Gyro LIGHTNING ROD In reality, this model was modified from set 70913 (Scarecrow Fearful Face-off) from the LEGO Batman Movie line. I added the classic two seat Adventurers cockpit piece which is usually used on land vehicles, plus a new set of vintage 2003 landing skids. This model also comes with red and green navigation lights and two independent propeller blades. The good guys: Adventurers (good guys) figures from left to right: -Madame Blue This Alaskan husky is the unofficial mascot for the Adventurers team. -Captain Karloff Owner and operator of the "Eastern Star" tramp steam ship, this captain has an eye for spotting the historical value in something that looks worthless. He always has a bag of cool items he's collected on beaches, sea-side markets, and ports around the globe on his person or nearby on his ship. -Jake Raines This young lad is a American student of Dr. Charles Kilroy's and expert at 5 spoken languages and 3 more written. Also has a knack for defeating ancient booby traps and disarming modern explosives. -Johnny Thunder Australian adventurer extraordinaire and friend to all those in need. Thunder first met Sam Sinister in 1917 when Sinister was in a field hospital for his hand amputation and Johnny was recovering from slight case of shell shock. They have been against each other ever since then. -Dr. Charles Kilroy Eccentric and slightly absent-minded English professor of history, archaeology, ancient languages, and about five other things including medicine. Kilroy is known as "Lightning" to his friends, as he enlightens the team in his own way and serves as a friend indeed. -Miss Pippin Reed This former lead reporter for Adventurer Times was reporting on a Dr. Kilroy's 1920 discovery of a copy of the Book of the Dead when she met Johnny Thunder at a dig site near Cairo, Egypt. They have all been good friends ever since. Also, Ms. Reed happens to be an better aviator than Johnny, a fact which she takes great pride in. She also operates the Island Hopper seaplane on most expeditions. -Mac McCloud Mac may be slightly clumsy, but is a genius when it comes to things of a mechanical nature. He keeps things working for the Adventurers team, such as lowering the steam pressure in the old and worn boilers on the tramp steamer "Eastern Star" and knocking loose engine parts back into place on the sea plane "Island Hopper". -Major Quentin Steele Former British Army officer (and Sinister's former commander, whom Sinister still hates today) This Monster Fighter lost his eye in 1912 due to a fight with a certain Werewolf, whom he later tracked down and defeated. He has signed on to Johnny Thunder's team as of 1925. The forces of evil Characters from right to left: - Lord Sam Sinister Brother of Alexis Sinister, and Lord of Sinister Manor. Sam lost his left hand in World War I while in the British Army. He later replaced it with a polished steel hook which is as cold as his heart. - Alexis Sinister The sister of Lord Sam Sinister is completely evil and slightly unhinged while being crack shot with any weapon. She hates Johnny Thunder to an extreme extent after he refused to join Sinister in his diabolical schemes. Last seen on Dino Island escaping to places unknown while the island was sinking. - Senor Palomar This South American crime lord is an associate of the Sinister family. He helped Sinister try and get the Sun Disk from the Amazon jungle, before losing it to Achoo, the ancient guardian of the disk. After that adventure, Palomar has fallen out of favor with Lord Sam Sinister, but he hopes to be in his good graces again soon. -Mister Graves A mysterious man of whom little is known. He sometimes is a ally of Lord Sinister and company, although are also enemies at times too. He is always seen with a gold lapel pin in the shape of a badge and a little black book of which he is almost constantly writing in. What is he writing? None have dared ask. EDIT 11/17/18: Added revised pictures of everything and edited text to the main post. enjoy! Comments, Questions & Complaints are always welcome!
  5. "Crikey, that old Ramesses VIII is a possessive undead kind of bloke...after all, he wasn't much a pharaoh anyway, only ruled a year...you'd think he wouldn't miss a little thing, like his personal staff...how rude of him to sick his Guard Mummies on me! Let's hope Gail has the old ute cranked up or this could get a bit dicey..." Thus ends my darkest of Dark Ages, with the largest Adventurers build I have ever done. I have been dormant for over two years, having gone through some unpleasant RL issues, including an empty nest. I didn't grow up with LEGO, we couldn't afford it, but when my own kids were 6 and 3 years old, LEGO was an active way to play and connect with them. The LEGO series we enjoyed the most was Adventurers, which was having its last run at the time, the wonderful Orient Expedition. Both my boys are grown up now and moved out, but what better way to wake up from my LEGO lethargy than to return to the series with a Johnny Thunder build in Egypt. I used way too many tan masonry bricks...a total of 400, I think! That is what happens when you have not built in a while I guess... This was built for Brickfair Virginia to go along with WAMALUG's Pharaoh's Labyrinth. It is modular and allows for expansion on both levels. My favorite part of this build was using the Brick, Modified 1 x 1 with Scroll with Open Stud as paws for the lion heads. I haven't seen that before in other builds, so it might be new technique, not sure. Being a history buff, I couldn't help but insert it a little even into this build; Ramesses VIII was a real Pharaoh who only ruled for a year and is the only one of his dynasty who's tomb has not been found. Except by Johnny Thunder, of course! The back comes off for modularity. If I ever decide to build more here... That is a not-so-secret compartment that opens up... And of course you must have the hot girl in a sport utility vehicle (known as a Ute in Johnny's native Australia)... So that is my return to the AFOL world. I hope to build more later in the year, and for next year it is back to Historical builds Cheers everyone, happy building!
  6. Hello all! I haven't posted here in awhile, been busy with RL stuff and such, but here is my latest build! http://www.flickr.com/photos/95309146@N06/43063365835/in/dateposted/ The 1930 Rolls Royce Condor AV; The Armoured car for the discerning Gentleman """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""" Adventuring to the wilds of Africa? Trying to get to your next rally without being assassinated? Hunting lost Spanish treasures in Mesoamerica? Passing through the riot-torn streets of the Weimar Republic? Searching for ancient artifacts among the dunes of Egypt? Than the Condor is the vehicle for you! Equipped with our vaunted V-8, The Condor features a reinforced cabin, with four inch armour-plating all around, custom steel bumpers, strengthened wheel-rims, and a one-man turret, all on our supremely popular Condor limousine chassis! Boasting a 360 degree field of fire, the cabin turret has two inches of steel armour, a gunner's hatch, and is equipped with a Browning .50 caliber machine gun. Best of all, the Condor still seats four, just like the base model! If you need to be protected while on the move, but still want to catch the eye, then this vehicle is for you!* *(Available only at select Rolls Royce dealers) """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""" So, I have no idea how this came to be. I guess you can blame ZZ Top, since I was listening to Sharp Dressed Man, and thought, 'man, one of those fancy 20s cars would look so cool with a turret on top, drifting around a corner while shooting.' Fast forward an hour and I have this in front of me. Go figure. I am pretty happy with how the bodywork came out though, the fenders and hood really seemed to flow nicely together. At some point the Condor will be featured in a Johnny Thunder MOC, as Lord Sam Sinister's car. Anyway, hope you all like it! Oh, and yes, I stickered one of those rare folding windshields. >:D
  7. Hello all together! A month ago I promised a freind of mine that I would build something for the Orient Expedition Contest over on Roguebricks. So I did! And I also wanted to share it with you all here on Eurobricks too: After Johnny Thunder and his friends had arrived in India, they were just on their way into the enchanted jungle. As a journalist, Pippin, beside the search for the treasure of Marco Polo, also wanted to take pictures of the flora and fauna with their new Camera to present them after their return to Europe. Dr. Kilroy instead wanted not only cinematographic but living examples, especially of rare butterflies. Their companion was Babloo, a young Indian. He knew all the jungle and the overgrown paths in it. So the four friends along with Pippins dog "Indi" and Babloos monkeys started their adventure. The group had to stop at a beautiful idyllic waterfall. Puppin sets up her camera and Dr. Kilroy climbed with Babloo's help, loaded with boxes and bags full of specimens and equipment to the top of the Waterfall to catch butterflies and dragonflies. But suddenly a noise broke through the air. It was the shouting of monkeys who had snatched Pippin's camera and taken it to the tops of the trees. Pippin and Johnny Thunder started to laugh because of the absurdity of the spectacle. Babloo just headed downhill to help his new friends, as he discovered something that let him freeze: He spotted the evil guards of the Scorpion Palace on the other side of the waterfall. Worse, it was obvious that it they had discovered Johnny and Pippin. One of the guards was already aiming his rifle towards Johnny and luckily the path of the bullet was blocked by a tree hanging over the waterfall. Farther up, at the top of the waterfall, the situation became dramatic too. The boat of Maharaja Lallu was nearly falling down the waterfall, but was kept in place by one of the guards on the shore. The shake on landing woke up Lord Sinister in the back of the boat. He was waking up from his nap and could not believe his eyes. There, on the other bank standing on a stone was Dr. Kilroy. Lord Sinister pulled himself up and quickly pulled his revolver but could not concentrate on aiming because Maharaja Lallu was cursing annoyingly. How will our heroes escape these dangerous situations? (Sadly I only have my mobile here to take pictures so the quali is not that great...) Inspired by Mark of Falworth - The Temple of the Twin Jaguars Also bonus pics of the figures: I hope you enjoy what you see. Best Skalldyr

  9. Greetings, adventurers! This is my entry for the 60th Anniversary of the Brick contest on Brickset, a microscale version of the classic Adventurers set 5988 The Temple of Anubis. Here is a picture of the original set for comparison: Here is a closer look at some of the more detailed parts of the set such as one of the Anubis statues, the truck, and the hot air balloon. I hope you like it and keep on adventuring!
  10. This model was based on set 21132 from the Minecraft theme, which was expanded and modified to be quite a bit larger with surrounding rock features, dangerous rope bridge, a second room and cave for the man-tiger creature. The first half of the map (the one the pirate had) described in the text is this one here while the one half Johnny had is in this link. Early summer, 1926, somewhere in the jungles of a forgotten island off the coast of South America... This is it: the Temple of the Unknown Question. Inside this structure is the other-worldly Guardian which will grant you either fantastic riches, immortality, or infinite knowledge... your choice is one of those three. (If you answer it's question correctly of course!) To reach the secluded temple, Johnny Thunder had to follow a certain map: the only problem was a 17th century pirate had the other half of said map on his ship. To find the temple, he had to find pirate, who had already answered the question and become immortal. Upon finding him, the pirate gave the map (and some advice) to Johnny, who then had it stolen by Lord Sam Sinister. After following Sam to the hidden island and the temple therein, Johnny and company have to think fast to stop Sam from getting to the ancient guardian first! Just your average rickety / unstable rope bridge, placed right before the temple entrance. ...It even collapses on the pull of a Technic pin! Three switches are inside the first room. The two outer ones will unlock the the mechanism to reveal a treasure chest, while the middle one is a dummy lever. With the two outer levers flipped down, the chest is revealed. However, inside this chest is a Pandora's box of sorts: opening it will let out a bright light for 30 seconds or so, as it sucks those unfortunate enough to see the light into the infinitely larger space in the chest and then slams shut on itself. (kinda like the Ark of the Covenant from "Raiders of the Lost Ark") In universe, this box will be taken by Sam Sinister as he thinks it contains the treasure he seeks. Meanwhile the good guys notice the door to a second room and crawl through it as soon as the bad guys leave with the false treasure. This secret second room holds the treasure guardian statue, and a back exit from the temple via a damaged wall. Just be careful not to wake the mighty tiger-man on your way out! In-universe description: The real treasure is inside the second room: after seeing the notched arrows placed by the pirate many years ago on the first room's walls, Johnny finds the small secret door and enters this room to find the guardian and five jewels. (four on walls, one on the staff in guardian's hand) The statue awakens, and asks for a member of the party to come forward to receive the question. Heeding the pirate's advice, he sends Miss Pippin Reed to do the honors, as she alone can answer what no man can answer. (she is no man, after all) After relaying the answer via whisper, her mind is wiped of the question and answer, and is given the choice of immeasurable wealth, eternal life or infinite knowledge. She chooses not to choose, saying the gifts are too large for one person (or group of people) to share. Thus, the adventurers walk back outside and plant dynamite to blow the temple sky-high, thus destroying any chance of anyone, good or evil ever getting the question right again. The man-tiger guards his cave under the temple. Be careful Johnny and company, or you'll be a mid-afternoon snack for this hungry fellow! BUILDER'S NOTES: This is the original LDD build of the temple... quite a change to now! EDIT 8/3/17: Added more recent real life pictures and modified the text!

    Adventures End

Hi All. When the adventure has faded. When the last rock is raided. When the gates of Atlantis finally close. What happens to our brave heroes when they grow old.
  14. (I have put the older pictures of the previous model in the spoiler tag below. This way, you can compare the models of the building and car.) This Adventurers model was inspired by my original Johnny Thunder office building from 2015. I modified it into a corner building with a tower like in set 10255 (assembly square). The building is modular, and comes apart into three sections: roof, second floor and main floor. This model is my actually second tallest creation, as it's shorter than Sam Sinister's Mansion and only slightly taller than my Saloon. Here you can see Johnny Thunder and his car (the aptly-named "Treasure Raider") outside the building. The rear of the building is blank, as it it would be sandwiched next to other buildings. The vent on the roof leads from the stove on the second floor. The lower floor features a cabinet from set 10228 (Haunted House) and a 1920's style ivory phone borrowed from set 10218 (Pet Shop). A hat rack (also from the Pet Shop set) is next to the wall opposite the desk. The far wall features some treasure from Johnny and his friends many adventurers, such as the Golden Shield from "Orient Expedition", a T-Rex tooth from "Dino Island", a trident from the "Quest for Atlantis", the replica hammer of the Thunder god from the "Age of Ragnarok", the helmet of a dwarf from "Middle Zealand", and many others artifacts. The upper floor features Johnny's bed, a stove, table with root beer bottle, and a radio / record player. This model was inspired by the tan car in set 7628 (Shanghai Chase) from the Indiana Jones them. The car now features a hard-top roof instead of the original fabric one, with one section of the roof being removable to allow for two figures to be seated inside plus a rear-mounted spare tire. The model also has a rear-mounted spare tire, located right next to the taillights. The inside of the car seats two figures side-by-side. 3/4/17 Major update complete: I added new pictures of the updated house and car, plus i put the older models into a spoiler tag for you to compare between old and new. Comments, Questions and Complaints are always welcome!
  15. Hi everyone, I created an own version of the 6494 Magic Mountain Time Lab. It is the 20 years anniversary of the Time Cruisers theme. The basement is a laboratory with a lot of equipment and computers. In the basement is a portal gone haywire and a lot of people from the past and present has come into the world of Tim and Dr. Cyber. In the basement are several confrontations among several parties and Majisto the wizard has blown a hole in the wall and has hit a pipe. Can everyone get out before the water reaches the electronics? On the ground floor is a study room, where Johnny Thunder sees the confrontation between the Forestmen of the Dark Forest and the Imperial Armada. In the hallway, Dr. Cyber escapes from a confrontation between Pirates and the Blacktron Future Generation. In the Kitchen, the Forestmen are fighting with pirates. Outside, the police has started a raid and one of the Blacktron is trying to keep them away from the house. The Superhero is rescuing the police from the fire. On the first floor is a confrontation among the Imperial Guard, Unitron, Pirates and Spyrius. There is a bathroom, bedroom and another study room. Here is an overview of the basement and the ground floor. Here is a picture from the outside. For more pictures the album of Time Cruisers. Comments and questions are welcome. Sander
  16. John (LittleJohn) and I decided to do a collab series based around re-imagining old set themes. Adventurers is a theme we’ve liked for years, though we never had any of the sets. After getting some of the original figs at Brickfair, Virginia, we wanted to put them to good use. The landscape and temple were inspired by Grant Davis and Mark of Falworth. Johnny Thunder and his team of Adventurers have discovered an uncharted jungle island. Within the dense vegetation they find the entrance to a ruined temple! After leaping from pillar to pillar, over the crocodile swamp, Johnny reaches the gateway. They’re not the first ones there though, as the treasure-seeking gang boss, G.R. Edy is there with some henchmen. Will Johnny be able to prevail, and will Dr. Kilroy fall to the alligators? We hope you enjoy, and you can see plenty more pictures on our website

    5935 Island Hopper Redux

Hello everyone! I'm here on the Action and Adventure forum today to share with you my latest creation: 5935 Island Hopper Redux! 5935 Island Hopper redux by Joshua, on Flickr 5935 Island Hopper redux flying by Joshua, on Flickr 5935 Island Hopper redux wheels down by Joshua, on Flickr 5935 Island Hopper redux interior by Joshua, on Flickr ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5935 Island Hopper was one of my favorite sets TLG ever put out. I have many happy memories from my youth of long hours spent lost in the world of Johnny Thunder, and this set was always my favorite to play with, and somehow always made it into every adventure, no matter what environment it was taking place in. Sadly I no longer have the original set still complete, but recently I came across the instructions, and decided it was time for this to be reborn with new parts and techniques. All the play features from the original set are there, such as folding wings, and removable roof, but I also added a few of my own, namely retractable landing gear, opening rear hatch, full interior, and working vertical and horizontal stabilizers. Worth noting is that many of the pieces from the original set were used in the new model. Hope you all like it! Long Live Johnny Thunder! Cheers, Joshua
  18. Hi, This is my latest creation, Johnny Thunder's Heli-plane! i wanted to make something a bit different that can eventually fit into my moc city. it carries all the equipment that treasure hunters might need, and even fits in his trusty motorbike! inside there's also enough room for his trusty pilot, Harry Cane, Dr. Lightning and his loyal Alaskan Malamute, Indy! my favorite part is the removable wing and tail/roof section. it really adds to the play ability, i also made a supply truck to restock on equipment, but this is mostly modified from the indiana jones set. More pictures can be found on my page: https://www.flickr.c...th/24114321389/ Hope you enjoy! comments and feedback much appreciated:) Toni Lego Adventurers heliplane moc by toni lynam, on Flickr Lego Adventurers heliplane moc by toni lynam, on Flickr Lego Adventurers heliplane moc by toni lynam, on Flickr Lego Adventurers heliplane moc by toni lynam, on Flickr
  19. So here's my latest build: I've always been a fan of this theme but I only have sets from the Dinoisland subtheme as a kid. This build is kind of an homage to the older sets but in an updated fashion. Check out the rest of the pictures on my Flickr.
  20. Sorry, that was a long and odd title, I couldn't think of anything really catchy. Also, I put this in town forum because it involves land-based town vehicles with some sci-fi features thrown in for good measure. (I hope this is okay, but you mods can move it if you want!) Also, I will update this thread when need be to prove these have been built in real life and are not just digital models. Classic Space car (Benny the Blue astronaut) This is Benny the 1980-something space guy's car while on Earth. It was used to travel to the movie studio when making the LEGO Movie, and is now normally parked at Benny's summer home in Bricksburg. The model features a row of space-ship styled seats and "double" tail lights. (I used a trans-red grille to create a nice effect.) the white tile above the rear bumper is supposed to be Benny's license plate. Bob uses the car to travel from his Military Surplus shop in Ironwood to a classified location where he then moves on to his base, Ice Station Destiny, which is located in Polaris star system. This car can seat one figure and is supposed to have this print on the 2x2 slope situated on the trunk: http://www.bricklink...sp?P=15068pb004 Bob's car can also fly using the same basic STARK hover technology as Nick Fury's S.H.I.E.L.D. car does. (Bob is a good friend of Tony Stark and is also on good terms with Bruce Wayne, as he tests out their new tech for both of them) (real world picture goes here when I build this model) LDD file for the car: http://www.mocpages....1437422963m.lxf Treasure Raider (Johnny Thunder) This is Johnny Thunder's car, and has been used from the Great Pyramids of Egypt to the Great Wall of China, to the depths of the Amazon jungles of Peru and even to places not listed on any map where dinosaurs still roam the Earth. The car features seating for two an full-size spare tire (perfect for those times when you jump over a cliff and cause a dented wheel hub while trying to make your getaway from the approaching enemy forces) Here is the real model of the car. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1404178315m.lxf Evil Intentions (Lord Sam Sinister) Here we see the car of Lord Sam Sinister which may or may not have been involved in stealing artifacts and treasures the world over, and was definitely not involved in the botched attempt to ransom the Great Sphinx of Giza's nose. It also was never anywhere close to being hauled onto a battle-cruiser named the HMS Vladeck, which by the way, is not from the country of Ogel. It most certainly was never photographed headed to Antarctica, where it won't locate the lost City of the Ancients. (also known as Atlantis) The car can seat two people, and is supposed to have this license plate where the white 1x2 tile is: http://www.bricklink....asp?P=3069bpa1 Here is the photograph I wasn't talking about before. The LDD file is available here: http://www.mocpages....1436387276m.lxf This concludes the post for now... more vehicles may come eventually.
  21. Here's a quick build as a "Birthday Card" and gift for my son Daniel. Click on the picture for more detail: The warriors of the Mighty Amazon Tribe of the Sunshine Scepter are not fans of Johnny Thunder. They don't want his autograph. They wouldn't want to take a selfie with him (though they would want to take one with his head. Just his head. For Johnny has stolen their Sunshine Scepter, which many years ago they themselves had rightfully stolen from another tribe after wiping them out (but that was OK, because that tribe had wiped another tribe out for it as well). No one knew where that tribe had gotten it from...but Johnny knew where it was now going! Now the poor Amazon Tribe of the Sushine Scepter, no longer the rightful possessors of The Shiny Thing, have been forced to rename themselves. They are now known as the Mighty Amazon Tribe of the Moldy Tunafish Sandwich Left Behind By Lord Sam Sinister. Happy Birthday son! Comments welcome, Cheers!
  22. Johnny Thunder was first released in 1998. He was the star of four Adventurers themes from 1998-2003. He also appeared in LEGO Studios and Jurassic Park lll sets as well as several video games during this period. That was the last we heard of him until a brief appearance in 2010's LEGO Universe video game. Then, in 2014, Johnny made a dramatic cameo appearance in The LEGO Movie. This appearance led to the inclusion of a Johnny Thunder minifigure in set 70815 Super Secret Police Dropship. This was significant because LEGO created a whole new torso (part #973pb1724c01) and head (part #3626cpa3) for Johnny Thunder As of this posting that is the only set in which these new parts have been. Johnny also appeared in the 2015 Scooby Doo 75900 Mummy Museum Mystery on a sticker. Could this be the beginning of a Johnny Thunder comeback? Would LEGO create a new torso and head for just one set? Your comments are appreciated.
  23. It possibly would come as no surprise that my childhood favourite LEGO theme was Adventurers. Some of my fondest playtime memories are of sprawling bedroom wide Adventurer Expeditions that ranged from the archeologically accurate dig site to a cartoon caper of chasing down the baddies while being chased by the Mummy or jungle tribesmen. The focal figures (literally!) were always Johnny Thunder and Pippin Reed. Johnny Thunder was part of the Theme Logo, he has appeared in eight LEGO video games. This chap was cornerstone enough to feature in The LEGO Movie and have a re-issue in the Super Secret Dropship set. So why don’t we get to know about our be-hatted hero. A Man of Many Names Back in the long ago days of the 90s there were not quite so many linked multi-media goodies for LEGO themes as there are these days. There were some small features in the LEGO Club magazine, the advert-comics that featured in kids magazines and sometimes the odd TV advertisement were all we really had. These might give you a few titbits to broaden the world presented on any bonus pages in the instruction manual or the little sheet that presented the other avaliable sets. Of course, many times you only learned the character names by purchasing the set they came in. With each language and market location there could be differences between the promotional material because no one had any communication or a single platform to access. This led to curiosities like multiple identities for the same character. Johnny also went by Sam Grant or Joe Freeman in other parts of the world. I was introduced to Sam Grant from the back of a cereal box promoting their giveaway (only six tokens and the p&p!) that included our intrepid hero and his desert car the Scorpion Tracker. Despite alll the names he still had his moustache, sideburns and the dimpled chin of a hero! Many Adventures Johnny Thunder and the Adventurers theme appeared in 1998 to 2000 with a revival in 2003. In this time the Adventurers, heroes and villains, travelled to many lands. The tomb filled deserts of Egypt where an undead Pharaoh lurched. Up the Amazon river with jewel thieves and lost tribes guarded gold. To a mystery island that time forgot with dinosaurs to protect from poachers and finally the Orient on the trail of Marco Polo's treasures. Johnny Thunder also gained his first acting credits in LEGO Studios, tumbling through a booby-trapped tomb and being chased by less friendly dinosaurs. Well Stocked Wardrobe As Johnny Thunder had plenty of adventures in a number of places quite sensibly he had a well stocked wardrobe to go with his trademark hat. While the well known tan shirt served well in the desert, the jungle and tracking dinosaurs there were varients for each of the locales of the Orient he ventured to. Classic, India and Tibet outfits. The tan shirt followed the same outfit archetype of the serial-film heroes Indiana Jones was drawn from and the later variations fitted in to the different locations visited in Orient Expidition. The reissue figure for The LEGO Movie follows the classic look with sharper printing, details on the back and the new colours LEGO brought in after Adventurers were no longer in production. This figure is a really nice inclusion on the part of both the Movie team and TLG, a little 'classic' nod to all of us AFOLs and something for my peer group to notice even if they aren't super LEGO fans. Media Man Just like any other superstar, Johnny Thunder appeared in many media ventures, from a simple 'easter egg' to a feature character in games and of course The LEGO Movie. A number of LEGO video games were released during the Adventurer's heyday and plenty of them featured the characters and theme locations to play through. The LEGOLAND game had Adventure Land attractions and features to unlock as you progressed with cutscenes too. http://youtu.be/diHcA6wtyC4 The next game to feature Johnny was LEGO Racers as an opponent to race with a number of circuits based on the Adventurers theme. In LEGO Island 2 Johnny and co help Pepper Roni in his mission to collect Constructopedia pages on Adventure Island. In Racers 2 Johnny was once again an opponent in races and also an NPC interaction for mini-games and returned again as an NPC racer in LEGO Stunt Rally. In LEGO Soccer you had to face off against an Adventurer Expidition team made up of characters from the theme and once defeated Johnny became an optional player for your own soccer team. This was a time in LEGO history where a lot of video games were made so of course Johnny would feature often. He was a major LEGO character at the time after all! Once Adventurers ended and slowly left recent and target market memory and game development moved out-of-house to developers like Travellers Tales, Johnny Thunder and co didn't feature. However with the launch of LEGO Universe he was back as a member of the Venture League. While the character was intended to be the same Johnny Thunder from the Adventurer theme, he underwent many design tweaks, even appearing in a rather different guise during Beta Testing. Fan feedback (of which I was most certainly a part!) managed to return him to a more classic look as seen above, the only minor changes in accessories and 'printing'. In LEGO Universe the player had to complete missions for Johnny in order to receive Venture League approval and open that faction as a choice to join. Master Builder Of course, now we come to his latest major role. A Master Builder in The LEGO Movie! First spotted early on in a call-back to Indiana Jones, he rescues his hat just before slipping through the perimeter walls to escape the forces of Lord Business. He is present for Emmet's, ah, stirring speech and is seen fleeing the golf ball once again reminscent of Indy. Later, as the citizens of Bricksburg fight the micromanagers Johnny is noticeable riding a horse that is riding a bigger horse. Thus we can conclude that I really am a bit weird and look out for a minor character when watching the movie! I'd love to post some clips but there aren't any to be found online that feature Johnny but if you missed him before we all know that no one needs an excuse to watch the film again! So, Johnny Thunder was and is a pretty cool character and while his moment in the sun might be over and Adventurers was continued in a new guise we can surely look forward to his next heir in whatever form he or she takes.
  24. While busy with another LEGO project, I felt the need to build a Adventurers MOC One of my favorite theme's. This MOC is based on the Adventurers Egypt theme of 1998. Johnny Thunder has found a secret tomb in the dangerous desert of Egypt. Maybe this tomb should hide a treasure....... 25. Before we begin this topic, here are some notes: -some of these builds have LDD files, most do not. -Most of these models should probably go in the Town forum, but they were built for Johnny's time period, so here they are. -I personally think that Johnny Thunder was mentioned to be set from about 1920 to 1924. Jake Raines from Pharoph's Quest was from 1922 (that is officially when it was, as stated by LEGO), so in my version Jake is a former student of Kilroy at the University where the good doctor taught until his untimely death in early 1925. (after Orient Expedition ended) Johnny & Jake met at the Kilroy's funeral, and eventually went adventuring along with Major Quentin Steele, who happens to be Lords Sam Sinister's old commander in World War 1. (Major Steele is from Monster Fighters, set around 1921.) With these points in mind, let's join Johnny and his friends in a never ending battle against the Sinister forces of evil... In the early 1920's, inquisitive minds and hardy souls, both good and evil, scour the corners of the Earth looking for lost civilizations and vast treasures. Some search for their own personal gain, or limitless power, others search for knowledge in a quest to preserve the past for the future. Good or evil they are known as... THE ADVENTURERS From left to right: THE BAD GUYS Senor Palomar Old friend of the Sinister family. He runs a vast South American artifact smuggling ring, as Sam Sinister's second in command. Alexis Sinister Sister of Lord Sam Sinister, evil, loves traps and weapons, secretly wants to turn Johnny Thunder evil. Lord Sam Sinister Arch enemy of Johnny Thunder, thief of lost treasures and great fortunes, plus is a mastermind of evil THE GOOD GUYS Johnny Thunder Australian explorer with a all- around can-do attitude. Always looking forward towards the future, but an eye on preserving the past. Miss Pippin Reed Former journalist, expert pilot, and a great friend to all in need. Jake Raines Hotheaded former pupil of Johnny Thunder's late friend, Dr. Charles Kilroy. Student of almost all sciences, but a firm believer in the supernatural. Major Quentin Steele English army officer turned monster hunter, tracker extraordinaire, and is a crack shot with any gun.
