    The Expendables in Lego

Please tell me what you think about this stop motion remake of a scene from the movie "The Expendables" [removed link]
  2. I just wanted to do this. It doesn't look that bad, I guess. (I couldn't find a good topic for it. Any moderator, feel free to merge it if it fits anywhere.)
  3. Take a journey to the edge. Find out what lies in the darkness of the EXPANSE. Would appreciate your feedback!
  4. I love How to Train Your Dragon so much I had to make an animation. It gave me a chance to test out my motion control rig.

    Stage for concert

Now the stage I used for my son's band ElektroGospel stop motion is a new Lego Ideas project. If you like it, your support is always welcome. Thank you. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/103982 Hi! Here is a picture of the stage i built for the concert of a lego music band. It's taken from my first lego stop-motion project that puts together my passion for Lego bricks and my son's love for music. I added many colorful lights to make it look more realistic and also created a console for the dj. In the back of the stage I also left space to insert the real cd, making it look like a giant screen. [MOC] Falcon - Movie Version

So, a lot of the Avengers character that were released were movie accurate. Fair enough since that movie has put enough capital into Marvel to keep them going for a few years. But when they started releasing the other characters, they were Cartoon accurate. Again fine, so I split my Avenger mini figs into two groups, Movie and Comic. This is a custom Movie Falcon. I used the Knock off Hawk Eye that you can buy on Ebay for about $3, then replaced his arms with black arms. Fitted a black 1x1 stud bib and a Travis block and then added a pair of Lego wings from the Chima line, finally finished with a Red translucent wedge for the rocket burn. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t31.0-8/1040422_10153286783167656_7833682590755516325_o.jpg
  7. EDIT!!! I've made some major improvements on the car to capture the typical look of a '69 Charger even better. Hope to find the time to take some pics soon. So stay tuned!!! ...or just some other 69 Charger that looks like the Death Proof musclecar, because the interior is way too nice for Stuntman Mike. ;) ^ Stuntman Mike. Looking cool, waiting for some chicks in a white Challenger...
  8. I recently purchased 21108 and I think it's one of the all time better sets from Lego. I really enjoyed building it, and I can tell you the endresult is awesome. Like you didn't know already huh. Still ater a while some things started to bug me, and I thought I could improve on some details and overall look. The frontend is unmistakenly 59 Cadillac, but somehow it didn't look right... Wheelwell had a wrong angle; the frontwheels were set too far back; the 'eyebrows' above the headlights stick too far out; the hood is too flat compared to the fenders; too much room between frontwheel and lights because of wrong use of snot-technique, etc... I think I have improved the original model. After I modified the exterior I came across this post by flailix, and his work inspired me to do a proper interior and engine bay. I had just one problem: My car is one stud shorter than the original. So that meant I got even less room to place all 4 minifigs... But I managed to do so... ^ seating ALL 4 minifigs! ^ detailed V8 engine bay ^ notice not one but two exposed studs behind the frontwheel. Somehow it doesn't feel like Lego has forgotten something anymore It now looks like the car has a doorline. ^ I replaced the inverted slope which just had the wrong angle and made the bodywork between frontlights and wheel too large with a cheeseslope. By using other snot-parts I managed to shrink it a bit further and clean up the bumperside by separating it from the headlights. ^ Major modification was shortening the cab by a stud. It forced me to create open windows which I love. The windshield is set back to create more bodywork between frontwheel and windshield. The roofrack needed to be set back a stud creating less room at the back of the roof. Just like the real thing. The blue hoses are now compact together compared to the original set. I used an extra slope next to the hoses to let the body have a better flow. ^ now that the ladder is set back one stud I could attach it by clicking it into a red 1x1 clip I placed in the fin. On this side also more slope pieces above the rear wheel for better flow ^ I used a plate to give the bumper more mass. ^ the round studs don't bother me as much as they do on the original. It's much more a 'one piece' frontfender. It even suggested me to use round studs in the hoodcorners. It really helps rounding off the hoodcorners. The hood got raised because I thought it sat too low between the fenders. ^ now this was the most difficult task: Creating enough room for a decent interior that can seat all 4 minifigs. I'ts not able to hold all 4 backpacks but it does have room for a trap ^ sure it's kinda cosy but hey, it fits!

    [MOC] HAL 9000 -

One MOC a year....yes that could be improved I've finished my MOC for Skaerbaek, DK Fanweekend 2014 this year: HAL 9000 computer from the motion picture 2001 - A Space Odysse in real size 1:1. I've added the EV3 brick to bring up some speech samples from HAL 9000 as in the movie but it was far to loud at the exhibition. So all it does right now is having a red light...which...lights red. more pictures on my page at: http://gerkens.org/lego/lego/lego_hal9000.html Hope you like it...

    MOC: Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I made this build for Swebrick's annual AFOL vs. AFOL contest which this year was about building a scene from an '80s movie of TV-series in which a vehicle was featured. The entries were anonymous during the voting that was done in knock-out stages leading up to a final which I actually won! Here is the climax scene from the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" from 1986 when Cameron's father's Ferrari crashes out of the big panorama windows: And a reference picture to the scene from the movie: Thanks for watching! /Etzel
  14. Greetings Sci-fi and Doctor Who fans! Here's a little project that I was working on over the last 2 years. The Eighth incarnation of Doctor Who (if you don't know the world-wide phenomenon of Doctor Who, stop living under a rock... I'm kidding, maybe this will help...) used this version of the TARDIS (his time machine, stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) as well as the Seventh incarnation of Doctor Who to have many adventures. This version of his time machine was most prominently featured in The Doctor Who movie (filmed in Vancouver Studios in Canada, may I add), and although it failed to warrant a Fox series funding and airing of the show (phew!), it did manage to capture the imagination of many, as seen in the comic strip continuation of the Eighth Doctor (for example). The Eighth Doctor (played by the brilliant Paul Mcgann ) was one of my favourite Doctor Whos, as I used to read a lot of the comics, and probably always will be, and here I pay tribute to him with this model. Enjoy!! The hexagonal console. Count 'em, yep, 6 sides. A pain to do, but definitely more worth it for the accuracy I could get! Until next time (and space)!

    Thunderbirds Mole MOC

In case you guys don't know, Thunderbirds was a 1960s era TV puppet show that later became a cartoon and then a live-action movie. This is the Mole, a drilling/rescue vehicle. Turning the back of the drill portion spins the drill. The drill itself can be rotated downwards. What do you guys think?
  16. Hi everyone! After some very kind words from users here in regards to my large black (but a bit boring) CMF Display Stand (HERE), I wanted to share with you the display stand I made for the LEGO Movie CMF figures. There was no question for me that the Movie minifigures should get their own stand, since they are not part of the main CMF lineup (remember when these were rumoured to be Series 12?). So with that in mind, I had decide on how to display them. Using the amazing LEGO Movie logo was a no-brainer! The 'THE' is my favourite part of the logo! The logo is a separate unit to the minifigure stands and looks really effective as a MOC when displayed on its own. The yellow and black tiles that you can see at the front and back of the logo are part of a support plate structure that prevents the logo from overbalancing and tipping forward or backwards. The logo was the easy bit compared to the rest of this MOC. I had a lot of trouble thinking of a way to display the Minifigures around the logo and what I kept coming back to was the 'construction' theme of the movie and of the posters in particular. So with that in mind, I went with the idea of scaffolding and made a kind of scaffolding framework that would stand underneath the logo and curl around it. The scaffolding uses 304 of the 'Light Sword / Wand' parts in light bluish gray. Getting each of the eight stands to be identical in size and shape required very careful and precise use of a pair of pliers (suitably padded) to insert each wand to the correct depth. Pushing one wand in too deep or not enough would alter the shape of the individual stand. I learnt this early on when my second stand was a different size to my first. I had to scrap them both and start again, using a larger frame made of plates that fit around the stand, making sure the insertion depth was consistent between stands. As I did on my previous CMF stand, I printed out custom stickers with the character's name and applied them to 1x4 white tiles to act as nameplates. Thanks for looking! You can view the full album on Flickr HERE.
  17. Celebrate the FIFA World Cup with your favourite The LEGO Movie characters! Who are you cheering for? Here's an overall pic of the build: Enjoy!
  18. I realize some people managed to get their hands on Benny's Spaceship (SPACESHIP) a month or two back from overseas but here in the USA official release was just a couple days ago. Mine came in the mail today, haven't started it yet, not exactly sure when I will- I just like looking at the box right now. Can anyone tell me if Benny's helmet comes pre-cracked? I ask because in all the box artwork it is cracked EXCEPT one place in the corner that seems to be an image of all the mini-figures included where it is not cracked. I've been going through my large collection of legos that had been lost and found in a garbage can sitting for 10+ years at my Aunt's house, requiring extensive cleaning and I just found my first original Benny-style space helmet yesterday, albeit in yellow... and it is cracked in the very same spot. I guess it was one of the reasons that style needed the re-design.

    Bananaman Movie in 2015

So yeah, apparently DC Thomson and Elstree Studios are making a Bananaman movie. Its due out in 2015, but a teaser poster was released recently: There's also a small teaser site, but there's nothing really on there except for the hashtag #PeelThePower. If you've never heard of it before, the intro from the 80's TV show should get you up to speed on him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq2KXudEjkI So, what do you think of this fruity new hero?
  20. Now a Lego Ideas Project! Please Support by voting at: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/65675 "Your precious armory, gratefully accepted! We will need it." - Bane The Dark Knight Trilogy by Christopher Nolan gave us a fresh and realistic reboot of the Caped Crusader, and with it many of Batman's iconic vehicles. These are my renditions of the Tumblers in camouflage versions, reproduce with lego bricks in 2 seaters minifig scale and staying as close to the original movie design as best I can. The base design of these of course are similar to my Tumbler and Bat Pod project. Each Tumbler measures about 19cm(L) x 12cm(W) All three versions have been faithfully recreated: The original Camo Tumbler, the Tumbler with a Turret/Cannon and the Tumbler with a Missile Launcher. In this case, only the original Camo Tumbler can be a 2 seater as the other 2 versions both have a weapon occupying the space where the passenger seat will be. Both the Turret and the Missile Launcher can be retracted to an inactive position. The set can be launched as a single camouflage tumbler with additional parts for the other 2 alternate builds. The set can also include different variations of Bane's outfits as seen in the movie. Now a Lego Ideas Project! Please Support by voting at: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/65675
  21. THERE IS NO DANA, ONLY ZUUL! Presenting to you just a 'quicky'. Zuul, the hellhound from 80's movie Ghostbusters. Yes, I'm a bit of a GB-coattailrider here but it happens that GB belongs to my top 10 best 80's movie-list. :) I was inspired by masterbuilders Wet Wired and Sergio and their awesome Ghostbusters-builds but couldn't wait for them to build Zuul (let alone wait for THE Ecto1 to hit the stores...) so I build my own in the bricks that I have. Grey. Ofcourse it (probably) should be in a nice earth and olive green right...? Well, the Gargoyl out of what this beast emerged is grey, so I'm kinda safe... What else is there to say... Oh yeah, I used the newish Chima Legend beasts build-methods with the balljoints, and really made it my own. That was a fun challenge! :) Enjoy! Next to the GB-minifig and my Ecto1 it is kinda huge. A bit larger than the extralarge dog from the movies, but ofcourse Lego is a material of compromises. I agree that the body could use a little bit more mass... It'll just has to do, for now... Run little GB, Run like the wind! ...and try not to cross your beams... (my Ecto1 can be found here...)
  22. So, what films can we recreate in Lego using existing licenced mini figure actors and actresses to play the leads? For example: V for Vendetta with Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving, Stephen Fry Lost in translation with Scarlett Johansson and the forthcoming Bill Murray Sweeney Todd with Helena Bonham-Carter and Johnny Depp Transformers 1 with Shia LeBeouf and the forthcoming Megan Fox What else can you think of?
  23. As they appear in the 2003 film. Mina Harker Mr Hyde Allan Quartermain Captain Nemo Tom Sawyer Rodney Skinner Dorian Gray Inspired by RDL a user over at Flickr who recreated the comic version of the league way back in 2012.
  24. I've added new foto's of my Ghostbusters headquarters addition! (11-3-2014) I've made some alterations to the hearse. Mostly on the tailfin area. The red from the fins isn't touching the rearlights anymore. Also the equipment on the roof is slightly different. It sort of 'belongs' ther now as opposed to be just an 'add-on' like before. I've also made it structurally better. (see post #2)
  25. This topic is for you to post which your favourite Minifigure from the Lego Movie Collectable Minifigure series is, and any reasons why. I don't know how to add a poll, so just leave your opinions below
