[MOC] Class Xerion small - lxf and io added

TC19 entry not finished, but I got those small tractor tyres, anf of course, I need to build that Class Xerion This is the size It is pretty small. 4x4 seems impossible. Maybe some 2 steering modes, but not shure. This is how it scales. It is already littlebit wider, but there is still almost no space for something. Finish in page two with more pics 29.01.2022. Added digital files. Engine is littlebit different, than in real model. I was never a huge fan of this ship... but once I started modeling, I couldn't stop. It's a unique ship in terms of shape, and, at only 39 studs, it's at a very manageable scale. Same scale as @Kristof's Venator.This is one that I plan to build, and I'm confident in its rigidity, despite the skeletal structure. Admittedly, the gray 3x3x2 dome top (pn 88293) is too tall for the rear armor plating, but I didn't like the blocky aesthetic of the alternatives. A 3x3x1 dome top would be ideal, or even a wedge 3x3 variant of pn 43708, but, alas, we can't have everything in life. Renders UPDATE: Here's a shot of the build next to Kristof's Venator. The Dreadnaught Class Heavy Cruiser is a Star Wars warship well known from the lost Katana Fleet of the Thrawn Trilogy. At 600 meters, it was roughly half the length of a Venator and could be configured with varying combinations of turbolasers, point defense cannons, and missiles. Most of these would be located in the hull "blisters" similar to Mon Calamari ships. I was recently acquainted with the cruiser as I'm reading through the Thrawn Trilogy (Half way through the second book at the moment). Not the most sophisticated-looking ship, but a fun one to design nonetheless. As usual, it's designed to 1:2600 scale. Some additional views in the spoiler below...

I don't have any experience with the games, but I saw a picture of the Harrower and was inspired. Aesthetically, I love the aggressive shape of the ship. The engine design is quite different from typical ISD style designs and I really like how the ship is absolutely covered with quad laser and quad turbo emplacements. Strategically speaking, this ship makes a lot more sense than "newer" Republic or Imperial style destroyer designs. A few retro improvements (in my opinion at least): - Command bridge is less exposed compared to Acclamator, Venator, Imperator - Engines are recessed and less exposed compared to Acclamator and Venator -Quad laser turrets are placed on the top and bottom sides of the hull which provides better coverage than if placed in the trenches. -The front and side hangar entrances are recessed which would give ingress and egress of fighters more protection Time will tell if I make this IRL. To avoid another long time MOC in WIP Nirvana I started this time with little help from LDD. Dimensions, main frame, angles... took me about a year to set these parts. Because of the LDD file I generated instructions and and part lists for me. On the picture you can see an early version of the ship and one of the latest with much more details. For the moment only one digital render of the ship. There will be some adjustments/tweaks in the "real" version but most of it works fine for me. There is already a beautiful saddletrac MOC which was built by @efferman but I wanted to build a saddletrac using only pieces from the 42054 set. Here are the function: -3 steering modes -2 PTOs (1 top, 1 back & front) -attachments, currently undecided Here's what I've got so far: I did the front first specifically so I could ration DBG pieces. Welcome to Winterfield Academy, the premier arts academy for all of your minifigs! Governed by Headmistress Elba Rieter, this academy specializes in the arts! The first floor includes a grand entrance hall with front desk and a platform for a train station (Behind the school are tracks on which the Orient Express can arrive). The first floor also contains the dining hall, a trophy room, and the grand spiral staircase that ascends three stories. The second story includes a large choir classroom, a picture-lined hallway, a store closet that I'll soon be converting into a lavatory, and Headmistress Rieter's office. And the third floor/roof contains a ballet/dance studio and classroom, as well as a large portion that I haven't decided what to do with yet. But I think it's going to end up being the dormitory. I'm also planning on possibly doing a stop motion video series set around one of my mini figures encountering mystery and murder at the school! So we'll see how that goes. [MOC] Munificent class frigate (to scale with 8039 Venator)

Here's something familiar from The Clone Wars to share with you - the Munificent-class star frigate. This one is seen throughout The Clone Wars series and in Revenge of the Sith so it was on my Must-MOC list for a long time. I wanted to make sure it would look somewhat suitable in scale when displayed with the Venator 8039. There's likely no hope of TLG ever doing this ship. There's not much to it but a shell of a hull with some guns around it - I was hoping to place an interior somewhere but there's barely any space. I recycled a bit of familiar parts - that sticker from the front slope pieces are from the Mandalorian speeder. The black strut in the front is there only to keep the ship upright. I had a version without the ventral fin but it looked wrong. I also got some inspiration from stark mark 5's sweet build here: Comments welcome. I can see now that I have to fix those engines. Next build. -

British Rail (BR) class 38 diesel locomotive - 7939 / 60098 inspired MOC

The BR class 38 seen here is a one-off prototype. Engine number 7939 was made in 1989 to compare a Metro-Cammell made class 38 to a Brush Traction built class 60. The class 60 won the contract, and subsequently Metro-Cammell was sold and closed. The single class 38 soldiered on until 1997, when British Railways was fully privatized. The engine was then sold with a number of spare parts to Lego Rail Transportation Society, which has kept the engine running ever since as unit 7940. In the real world, the class 38 was never built. It was proposed and then dropped in favor of the class 60, which is what I based the story on. Metro Cammell really existed and was dismantled in 1989 sometime after loosing out to Brush Traction for the class 60 contract, and everyone knows that British Railways was taken apart in the mid-1990's. This LEGO model is a mash-up of a William Howard's diesel locomotives and the official Lego sets 7939 and 60098, with a set of Anthony Sava-derived three wheel sliding bogies. The rear of the bidirectional loco. The numbers "7940" go on printed 1 x 1 tiles on the sides while "LRTS" goes on the front and rear ends. The color scheme for this model was inspired by the British Rail Class D16/1 (also known as LMS engines 10000 and 10001), the first two mainline diesel locomotives in Great Britain. (see here for more on them.) Both ends of the locomotive have a engineer's cab that opens up to seat a figure at the controls, just like sets 7939 and 60098. (I just noticed there is one letter spot too few on the ends of the loco for the railways name as seen in the pictures, as there should be four studs, not the three shown) Bricksafe LDD file link: BR class 38 file Comments, Questions, and Complaints are always welcome! -
Inspired by my recent attempts at building using only pieces from the Turbo Tank, I decided to see if I had the pieces to put together Lego's Rebel Combat Frigate. Halfway through I realized I didn't have the right pieces, but instead of giving up I made some adjustments. Soon rather than being a copy of the set it was my own creation, my own design. Just like the set when the engine rotates the flaps open up, revealing additional engines. Also like the set the front can be opened to revel a rather small command bridge. The ship can be held by the handle provided and is very swooshable. I wish I could fit more in the ship, but with such limited space I did what I could. Next I'll add the colors for what most of the frigates had and also see what else I can do with it. Enjoy the pictures!

I have decided to build the, what is in my opinion, best ship in Star Wars: the classic and sleek imperial shuttle. From making a wanted list and ticking off what I actually have, is there any other advice you guys can pass on to me? It is a bit daunting but I have amassed about 25% of the total parts and just thinking of that beauty pushes me on. Thanks. -

First post also edited. greetings Kommander +++ UPDATE 3/December/2016 +++ Long time no see eurobricks! Today my Venator enters the sky above the ship yards of Rothana Heavy Engineering. As the project manager I proudly present you the capital ship “ATELLES”- a Venator class star destroyer. Back in 2005 when I saw the Star Wars Epi. 3 starting sequence in the theaters – I was like “I really have to build one of these giants!” Then a few years later and already earning my own money I started the wip. The plan was building a venator bigger than the Lego ISD (10030). While processing the project there were 2 points of massive improvements. Each time I change the size and the new version was bigger than the old one. The building time on the last version of the Venator I´m showing you in this thread was only about 2 years. Now be at university the time has come to finish this ship. Over the whole 7 years I ordered about 100 times at Bricklink.com. Additional to these orders I used a lot of my own bricks in storage. I don’t know how many bricks I used for the Venator. It have to be something above 45000 pieces with a weight of 65 kg. The construction of the inner structure and the frame is basically like the #10030 IDS. A structure made out of technic bricks carrying the whole ship. This technique is easy to scaling up to big dimensions. The Venator´s of Erik Varsegi and Iomedes were always leaders in supersized star destroyers and a good orientation for my project. At one point my Venator should be one of those as well and I destroyed the old version and made a bigger one. This Venator how hitting the length of 220 cm x 117 cm x 68 cm. A bit smaller than the others. However, the thing was building this ship as accurate as possible. Some details of the origin Venator from the Movie has been changed or replaced with own ideas like the frame structure at the surface. The overall impression has to match and looks smooth. For those they want to know about construction details here we go. In the middle of the ship is a massive string - the ship´s “backbone”. Different sections like the hangar or the thrusters are connected with it. The inner structure mostly consists of technic bricks, pins and plates. Simultaneously I build the “wing”-plating because the wedge-plates with their angles restrict the shape of it. And as you know the plating is a bit bigger so it can overlap the frame. The thickness of the plating is 5 layers of plates. One slope underneath and above the string create the first important angle. Each one has left and right technic bricks as well. On those the wings can be attached. Unfortunately I secured the underneath-plating with some wires because the weight was too much and I couldn´t find any alternative to fix this problem. It is the only thing that isn’t Lego. Glue also never touched this project. In every thruster is also a solid string with technic bricks. Rings consists of 8 hinge-elements are the basement for the use of round bricks for the shape. A unique technique which also looks pretty nice. To counteract a misalignment of the long thrusters I decided to install them with an increasing angle upwards. And as expected it works pretty well. The command tower as well as other sections can be detached easy. Reason behind this is of course for the transport. Next step is to exhibit this giant on events in Germany. Maybe I manage to change and improve some things unstill the first event. Finally the last step is selling this thing dissembled in components or complete as Moc. Some of you maybe discovered my litte turrents on flickr in various groups. At the beginning of the building progress in year 2008 i started with a size around 150 cm in lenght, but by passing the years i scale up the size to the Venator im showing you now. This ship hitting a lenght of 220 cm and has a width of 120 cm. Dimensions like Erik Varszegi`s Venator. Maybe a litte bit smaller. Btw. here you can see a picture of my first Venatorbuild. Looks kinda cute, isn`t it? Most things are finished...thrusters, guns, superstructure. I really can see the finish line. But this update/post is only for an overview. That means unfortunately no closeup pictures. The next and last milestone is the underside armor. In the meantime i`m going to fill the gaps and there`re still bricks that need to be changed.
