    [MOC] 76917 Nissan 350Z

    My 1st alternative for 76917. (Or the most popular speed champions set this year) This time i used ONLY parts included in set mentioned before to build an another classic Tuner car - Nissan 350z. Truly a legendary car of it's era that was featured in many racing games like NFS Underground 1,2 and F&F Tokyo Drift movie. For this one i was particularly inspired by tuned 350z from NFS Underground 2 that's why i tried to not just only build a stock 350z. But to also include some kinda of livery in model and crazy bodykit from early 2000s. This makes this model a perfect addition to your Skyline and would look nice with it on shelf.   5. Dear all, I would like to present my latest MOC, a one-set MOC for the Cat D-11. It was my first experience with the Powered-Up system, which I have to admit, was a bit painful :p Yet here it comes: The snow groomer is fully functional, featuring a configuration similar to the D11: two independent angular motors for the tracks, and two large motors to control a gearbox distributing four functions: raising/lowering the blade, opening/closing the blade, turning the blade, raising/lowering the tiler. By construction, the four functions cannot be operated simultaneously. The model also features a working L6 engine and tiler. They are both linked to a central differential, so that they will not move if the two tracks operate in opposite directions, but I guess snow groomers do not really turn on site like excavators or bulldozers, do they? The hood can be opened to show the engine, and the cab can be tilt to access the battery box. And here is a video: Instructions (of a further improved version) are available at rebrickable!
  6. Yes, I'm little late to the party. But let me show what I wanted to make for the contest; The initial idea for this model arosed back in 2021. There was a contest here at Eurobricks, about making stlldess version of classic sets: I always liked the 8855 set, with its movable modules. Read more about 8855 at Blakbird's Technicopedia @Blakbird And then I realized that 42108 has trans Red and Green tiles. Perfect colours for navigation lights on an yellow aircraft, don't you think? With Yellow being the main colour, and black being second one used in 42108, I decided that I'll raise the bar and I'll make that studles version as an alternate model. Here's the initial sketch; As usual, many other things interrupted that, and I have finished the model year after contest ended, in June 2022. And now I have finally found time to make instructions and proper presentation. Here's the final model along its predecessor: Direct size comparison: So, let's start with the fake engine. A flat-twin one, connected directly to a 3 blade rotor. Can be put in motion either by pushing the blades or by turning the knob under tha cab. And speaking about the underneath, this aircraft has both floats and landing gear so it can be operated from either land or water: All doors, including service hatches, can be opened. Model features movable ailerons and elevators controlled via a flightstick at the top of the plane. There's also a t12 gear that controls the rudder. Video: With a wingspan of 80 studs, I had problems with taking comparison pictures of this model :D There are also two buoys; Leftover parts: This model has been designed to be hang under the ceiling.   7. Finnaly found some time and inpsiration to build a proper alternate for this amazing set - Front loader. Functions: HOG steering - whole front section pivots Pendular rear axle Working 2 cylinder inline engine at the back Fully operating front boom - uses ratched mechanism to keep the desired height Angle of the shovel can be changed Opening doors As there are no access to worm gear or linear actuators, the lifting capacity is limited, but still it's possible to lift some lighter cargo. Rear axle can move freely without any suspension, therfore it's easy to overcome smaller obstacles. Whole front section is steering and is connected via the small turntable to the rest of the superstructure that enables easy and smooth steering using gear on top of the front loader.   8. Inspired by LEGO 8292 Cherry Picker, I've created a pneumatic rendition of that model as an alternate build of LEGO 42128 Heavy Duty Tow Truck. Pneumatic Cherry Picker by Brick Random, on Flickr My Pneumatic Cherry Picker has the following functions: steering (turn the knob on top of the cab) raise arm (pneumatic) extend/retract arm (pneumatic) turn arm (lift and turn the knob on top of the cab) open doors (manual) 4 cylinder engine driven by the four rear wheels A video demonstrating the functions: The basic shape of the original model is still visible in the final build of the Pneumatic Cherry Picker. However, the internal structure is almost entirely new, as a result of changing from mechanical to pneumatic operation of the arm, adding the engine (with two differentials for the four rear wheels) and the availability of parts in 42128. Instructions The model consists of 900 parts (all from 42128 Heavy Duty Tow Truck).   12. When I first saw the 42139 set, I knew I had to get one. From the functionality aspect, the set for the relatively small price tag has a lot to offer, and it's an amazing parts donor as well. But I believe that I wasn't the only one that thought the 6 wheel ATV is quite an unconventional vehicle and it would look rather cool to see this as a more common 4x4 quadbike. So I made an alternate / mod that turns this into more classic looking quad. The front and middle part of the build remains almost unchanged (switched 7 long beams from white to orange to make better looking rear mudguards), also there is an extra part at the front to secure the winch hook. Almost no changes means that the functionality remains the same: winch steering Suspension 2 speed gearbox Working cylinders The cargo box on the back is fixed, so the dumping bed mechanism has been removed. To compensate for this there is a place to attach a trailer. Leftover parts are a great source material for the trailer itself, sadly no pins were left to make a proper trailer to complement the quad bike. Oh, and the best part is that it's still possible to assemble the chainsaw If anyone is interested. building instructions are available at REBRICKABLE Cheers!

  14. Hi everyone,I present to you a Jeep Gladiator Gravity-inspired vehicle made out of only the parts from the Ford F150 Raptor! A trial truck with HOG steering, suspension and winch.The suspension and the steering is the same principle as the A-model's one but the chassis is two studs narrower.The winch has a knob on the side and it's easy to use, also it can hold the whole truck.No openable doors but the truck has full interior, and some detailing. 42122 Alternate.
  16. Hi folks, I'm happy to introduce my alternate build from the official set 42126 Ford F-150 Raptor, the Unimog (UniMOC) U1400 with Snowplow attachment. As the little brother of 8110 Unimog U400, this model in 1:17 scale uses 1264 parts of the inventory from the set 42126 Ford F-150 Raptor and 2 spare parts included in the set with a total of 1266 parts. Having the set 42126 Ford F-150 Raptor, all parts are available to build this alternate model and no other parts from other sets are required. Those custom sticker are optional and only used for better and more realistic look. If you have the ability to print custom sticker, feel free to do to polish up this model. Below this is how the front of the model looks like without any custom sticker, but with the original headlights of the Raptor... ...and without any sticker, for custom headlights for example.   17. Week ago I decided to rebuild my 42121 set. Result can be seen here. It's a skid steer loader, more or less in scale of mid size Technic trucks like 42024/42078/42098 etc. Based on JCB single arm loaders: Almost all pieces used, large ones like bucket and turntable were not usefull this time, but can be used as a load ;) Featuring arm and fork movement, controlled by two knobs located on rear of the model and on top of the cab.   18. RC Rock crawler. Features AWD drive without differentials using 69730 "Large angular position motor"(As it has realy good torque), Steered by L-motor, and springless suspension (concept by superkoala). Lack of differentials gives nice off-road perfomance, but the crawler has big steering radius due to that.42114 C-model.   19. Hi :) Today I wanna show my first finished alternate model - Racing Truck - B model of 42123 set. Racing Truck - 01 by Bricksley, on Flickr The set 42123 was bought at the end of December 2020 and the alternate model itself was ready on January 2 :D Unfortunately, the premiere was a bit longer ;) The truck is built of 554 bricks and includes the same functions as the model A, i.e. working V8 engine, front steering axle, opening doors.   20. My next alternate model of the 42125 set - Dune Buggy It's a replication of the well-known Meyers Manx dune buggy. Also the BF Injection in the GTA games. Size: L35, W19, H13, cm Parts: 665 Weight: 610g. Features: - Opening bonnet and trunk - Full independent suspension - H4-engine - Working steering wheel. A width is 2 studs shorter, than it's in the original set, so I used the floating differential suspension system. Working well.   21. Rebuild your 42111 Dom's Dodge Charger into this Vintage Custom Pickup with adjustable suspension. This is an alternate build of 42111, all required parts are in this set. If you own the Charger, you can completely build this alternate model. Keep in mind that spare parts of the set are used. Hello folks, I wondered why there is no official alternate build for the 42108 Mobile Crane (sometimes lovely called Yellow Parts Pack), so I decided to create this cool American Tow Truck as an alternate model. This alternate uses 1172 parts from the main model. Spare parts are not needed. The dimensions of the truck are as follow: 52 cm (L) x 15 cm (W) x 18 cm (H) with extended wheel lift (20.5 in x 5,9 in x 7 in) The model reaches a total height of 40 cm (15,7 in) with fully extended arm. In scale, it fits the 42078 Mack Anthem or 42098 Car Transporter very well with those tires. The functions are as follow: HOG-Steering workable 6-cylinder inline engine with nice clicking-sound under the hood openable hood with locking function both doors can be opened raising/lowering the boom - operable on both sides of the model extendable arm working winch with locking function extendible wheel lift Because the lag of differential in the main model, the inline engine is just driven by one wheel and not by the entire axle. The playability of the American Tow Truck is just great. You can use either the wheel lift to hook and tow cars or other trucks, or you can use the giant boom to rescue some crashed vehicles with the strong winch. The model is based on a real American Tow Truck. Here are some pictures of the model you easily can build on rebrickable: With realease of 42107 and some rare panels in red, this model can be build to 100% in red instead of yellow. Blue, black and white are also possible with a few changes. Since 42115 and the release of lime panels and connectors, this truck can be fully build in lime instead yellow with some minor changes. instruction The instruction comes in high quality and clear images for builders with an age of atleast 10 years. With 5 parts per step, the instruction is very easy to follow and has 234 total pages with a total of 347 steps. The model is divided into several submodels and steps with different camera views as common for modern Technic sets. Rendering the rope was a bit tricky because it counts not as a part, but the instruction steps are very clear and understandable to deal with it. And the best thing is: You do not need to make or release the nodes on the rope - you can use the rope with nodes on both ends from the main model as it is.   24. Hi everyone, I'm happy to share with you my very first alternate build. Previously, I tried to replicate Professor's awesome Porsche MOC, but the photo-based instructions was a bit hard for me to follow. So I decided to go on my own and make something else. So I tried out a Caterham Seven. Various models seem to exist, but I got this 3D model as an example. Without further ado, here come the pictures! As this was very new to me, I kind of improvised. The key thing here was to be able to design the shape of the hood, so I came up with the following technique. Viewed from above, it all fits well together: The rest of the build went pretty well and I used almost all of the green parts of the original set to polish the details. Finaly got my hands on a new set that I could use for making new alternates - 42123 Mclaren - it's a really great set, but when it came to deciding what to make, it turned out to be a lot harder then I expected. Almost no gears and functioning elements means that the look is the main point for being a successful alternate. I usually make my alternates with the all stickers, and this one was not an exception so taking that into acount it was logical to make something related to racing, but I didn't want to stick with just a random racecar, I wanted for it to be something a bit more special. Thanks @marceriusLV (my brother) for giving me the idea that I could use less than 4 wheels for a racing car, and we all know that the most popular three wheeler is Morgan. MORGAN 3 wheeler concept Functions: Steering - controlled by the steering wheel V4 - moving pistons driven by the rear wheel As with previous alternates - the instructions are available at Rebrickable Cheers! UPDATE. Decided to put all the alternates under one topic so here is an update. BAJA Racing truck After making a true three wheeler I decided to stick with 4 wheels, seeing that there are several truly great racing cars/formulas already made I thought of making something a bit more offroad. Initial inspriation was from the legendary Dakar rally car - Schlesser buggy. As usual while making alternates not all things went as planned and in the end I got something more similar to BAJA racing truck, rather then a proper Dakar rally car. Nevertheless I really like the end result. Functions: HOG steering Pendular front axle (similar to the 42122 Jeep set) Rear axle suspension using flex axle Mid mounted V8 working engine, driven by the rear wheel. As usual I try to make 3 builds form one set, and this time was no exception. Sea Sparrow For the 3rd model I decided to not use the wheels at all, so there are basically 2 options - something that floats or flies, I chose the flying option. At first I wanted to make a propeller plane but after 20 minutes of struggle It was clear to me that the plane is not the way to go. Helicopter on the other hand, was comming together super fast and after three evenings I already had a finished alternate (usually it takes much longer for me to make a properly working model). I Didn't want to stick with traditional Lego helicopter functions - working rotors that are linked together, so I managed to add a third function as well. Functions: Working main rotor linked with the rear rotor V4 engine connected to rotors (I know that helicopters have different motors :D ) Safety clucthes on both rotors that allow the blades to slip Working V4 engine is hidden behind the panels As always, instructions for my alternates can be found on my REBRICKABLE page.
