    The Bridge Battle display

Having recently bought the Spider-Man Bridge Battle set, I thought it would be amiss not to display it and make a chaotic diorama out of it. IMG_9275 by J G, on Flickr I'm not much of a MOCer (at least not anymore), so there's not much modification apart from the Sandman's 'sand hands', taken from that awful Sandman/ Rhino set. IMG_9282 by J G, on Flickr I'm glad the bridge comes with a birds nest on top, so I could make this lame joke with the Vulture. IMG_9292 by J G, on Flickr Ben Reilly's having some trouble keeping this taxi out of the water below, though his troubles are far from over. IMG_9285 by J G, on Flickr Whilst Spider-Girl faces off against the Scorpion and Kraven, Deadpool follows in the footsteps of the Great Oily Lord Ainsley Harriott and gives his meat a good old rub. IMG_9280 by J G, on Flickr Here is an under-shot of the entire thing. I had a lot of fun putting this together, and I can't recommend this set enough. 3. Iron Man 3 (2013) - Hall Of Armour, Module Considering I've nearly collected every single LEGO Iron Man Minifigure I've decided to find a way of displaying them. The initial option was to go for the well known Hall Of Armour concept from Iron Man 3 (2013.) With this I tried to nail as much detail from the movie modules. One notable difference is the scale and proportions. I've decided if they are going to be designed in the LEGO medium it only makes sense to have them evenly proportioned relative to a Minifigure. Now that I have got this primary design off my chest I can move forward with a full concept to display them: -I could simply stack several modules / units on top of each other much like the Iron Legion glimpse we had towards the end of Iron Man (2013.) -The alternative is replicate the 'Hall Of Armour' as seen in Iron Man 3 (2013.) Including the small details seen in the 'Suit-Up' scene towards the start. The problem with this is that there is only space for five to seven armours. Feedback and criticism is much appreciated. 4. Hey everyone! Pretty new here, but just finished building out a giant expansion of 76038. Took me a few months and did it in three steps--for the first, I just bought a second set and added another floor with more Iron Legion launchers. Then, after discovering BrickLink, I sat down and with the POWER OF MY MIND and an excel spreadsheet, I attempted to add four more floors and widen the whole thing by 6 studs. And uh... that was somewhat successful? Ended up with a bunch of extra pieces and a few sections where I was short pieces and was basically very confused during the build what the hell I had planned during the planning stages. Which lead to phase three, me learning to use LDD, and building a finished model (...well... technically there was phase 3.5 when I realized I had exposed studs where I wanted tiles, whoops). Anyway! After a whole lot of work, it's finally done, and I'm pretty happy with it. Apologies in advance for the photo quality--got a tiny New York apartment, so no room to build a real photo set up. Anyway, here we go! OVERVIEW Side views of the full tower, closed. 8 floors, 2 balconies. Aunt May, in her natural habitat--stuck to a wall with webbing, in mortal danger. Also visible: Quicksilver running fast enough to scale a wall, and Spider-Woman (custom). The exposed brick is reserved for one of the Spider-People from the Bridge Battle to stand on, using the new web piece to be saving Aunt May. On the other side, Black Suit Spidey (custom), and some visitors from another world, hanging out and battlin' on the side of the tower. BALCONIES Top balcony, with an attack by Ultron, against the MCU Avengers team. I try to keep only one of each character on display (duplicates and variants are stored on the first two floors), but I made an exception for Ant Man, since I want to have micro, mini, and Giant sized versions all out, and for Spider-Man (who I justify through handwaving that Spider-Verse is happening sooooo sure, buncha Spider-people are out.) So, you can see the microfig Ant Man on the roof taking part in the main defense, and mini-fig Ant Man being overwhelmed by Yellow Jacket behind the drone tower thing. Also back there, but not super visible--Loki, Dr. Doom, and MODOK. An alliance that manipulated Ultron and Hydra into doing the main brunt of the attack? Sure! That's definitely what's going on, and not that I wanted those guys out and didn't have another place to put them really. Lower balcony, with Hydra agents (led by Taskmaster and Crossbones) scaling the walls and overwhelming the SHIELD agents there. Iron Man, War Machine and Nova are providing air support, with Miles swinging down to assist. INTERIORS - FRONT Full tower, open. In addition to hinging open like the original set does, I added the ability to pull out the front section of each floor for floors 1-4. Like a series of drawers, making getting into each floor way easier. Floors 1 & 2 are storage for minifig variants. Each floor can store two trays of sitting / small leg figures, with the top tray storing 25 minifgs, and the bottom fitting 26. So, room for 102 minifigs total. Still have plenty of room for more minifigs, so... eventually will have to add another floor for storage as we get more variants. But hopefully not for a few more years... Floor 3 - Science Labs! Doing Science! are Tony Stark, examining Loki's Staff, Hank Pym working on some micro-scale suits (a display case holding all the micro-figs), two generic scientists doing Flasks near some microscopes and computers, and Pepper trying to figure out what's wrong with this Iron Man (is it that it's a custom, because an authentic SDCC figure is way outside what I can afford? It's probably that). Also present are DUM-E with the suitcase armor at the ready, and a deactivated Dalek ('cause uh... I guess you should study some other killer robots if you want to figure out what's up with Ultron, maybe?). Tools are mounted on the walls and in a stand in the middle of the room. But not on Tony Stark's side of the wall, which is displays and some controls, and oh yeah, a big 'ol sound system. Floor 4 - Item storage. Center table has the Infinity Gems / Stones in display cases (plus the Eye of Sauron and One Ring because ehhh why not), plus helmets. Mounted on the walls are a whole bunch of guns, and the Avengers weapons--Cap's Shield, Thor's Hammer, Hawkeye's Bow, Star Lord's Elemental Pistols, and Rocket Raccoon's big eff-off gun. Also, deactivated Chitauri, Han Solo in Carbonite, The Collector (custom, because again, can't afford the real thing), and Portal 2 items--a modified Turret, Companion Cube and Chell. Shelving unit is two stories, although I don't have anything (except Aladdin's Genie Lamp) to put on the second level. Yet. Floor 5 is the Iron Legion Launchers. Has room for 12 Iron Men. Floor 6 is War Machine Launchers. Room for 9 War Machines. Includes a custom War Machine made out of the Cyberman body since I wanted to have all the windows filled out while still being able to have a War Machine out and about doing stuff in the main display. Don't have a good image of Floor 7 (you can kind of make it out in the image of the lower balcony), but it's Maria Hill and Dum Dum Duggan at some controls INTERIORS - BACK Back rooms of floors 1 & 2 are storage for Big Figs (plus Dr. Octopuses with tentacles). If you ever wonder why I don't want many more Big Fig variants to be released... well, hey, I only have room to store one more. Back Floor 3 is the medical bay, with three of the medical beds from the original set, occupied by The Mandarin, Aldrich Killian, and the Extremis Solider. Tony's just trying to help them get better. Also, the MCU Hydra soldiers I have because I need to hide them somewhere, and sticking them behind the paramedic fig works? Anyway, the medical bay is paired with the science lab in the front. Back Floor 4 is intentionally left blank for now. I'm planning to try to fit the Dr. Strange set into this space, which just counting studs in the released images... I think will work? If I can't get the portal beast in there, all the mystic junk in that set should fill this space out. Either way, Dr. Strange Mystic Junk Storage will pair with the more science-y Storage Room in the front. Also, you can see what it looks like when the floors are pulled out of the main building. Also, you can see the cut out I made for the 2x16 plates that support the floors of each floor. This is where I intially messed up in stage three of building, having these studs exposed without realizing that would mean I'd only be able to pull out EVERY floor all at once, instead of having the ability to pull out each floor individually. Floors 5 & 6 are Armour repair / construction. Floor 5 has the Space / Scuba Iron Man variants in the front, and the Iron Spider in the back, Floor 6 has the Iron Legion drones in the front and Ultron Prime in the back. They're paired with the Iron Legion launchers in the front. Floor 7 is the SHIELD command floor--Nick Fury is at the center command, flanked by SHIELD agents definitely doing important SHIELD things and not playing Galaga. Pairs with Maria Hill and Dum Dum Dugan at their control in the front. Floor 8 is a bar, staffed by Mary Jane Watson. Leads out onto the balcony, where the Avenger's party was interrupted by Ultron (that dink). FULL COLLECTION Moved the rest of my collection over to get a group shot. I've got a complete collection of everything released in the US so far, with customs of the Comic Con exclusives and Dark Phoenix and Misty Knight (because I don't have super high hopes of getting official releases of them too, and they're AWESOME.) The rest of my Marvel collection, in their natural habitat on my Comic's bookshelf. Avenger's Tower, in it's natural habitat behind my workstation. Giant Man and Hulkbuster at the base. And a final easter egg: A minifig version of my fiance, as a SHIELD agent, having a great time and ignoring all that attackin' happening just outside the protective glass... Thanks for looking!

    [LDD] Agent Coulson's LOLA

I always want a proper model based on Agent Coulson's flying car and fortunately the new Avengers Video Game have a really good looking one. So i decided to build it at least in LDD. The "work" beginned with taking a lot of screenshots from every angle the whole and the exploded car. I'm very happy with the final build and i hope you like it too. Here is the final model and it's LDD: I also built an updated one for better structure in the inside: LDD Update: Added some flying pics:
  7. And with every mighty superhero team comes a mighty headquarters! Located in the heart of Manhattan, the tall building that used to be Stark Tower until the Battle of New York stands as a symbol of hope and serves as a base of operations for the Avengers. Here, they can train, strategize, create new tech, or just hang out, and sometimes build evil robots that want to kill all humans. Based on its appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, this tower is not just a great display piece, but also functions as both a UCS-style playset and a tilt system for the Lego Ideas Maze. It even features an automated ball return mechanism that is designed to work with mazes that have actual holes in them, so that if your ball falls through, you can watch it roll down the tower, floor by floor, and get lifted back up to the top where it is dropped back into the maze. And the best part is that you don't even need a table to play the maze as the tower doubles as a stand for the tilt system! Here it is without any of the fancy graphics. It took 3 days to render that first image, so please excuse me if I use low-quality screenshots for the rest of this post. Some profile shots of the building. Thanks to the hinges, the rounded back wall can be opened like double-doors. The third picture shows the opened backside. As you can see, there are stairs connecting each floor in addition to the ball-elevator, along with the obligatory fire extinguisher on every floor. A shot of the North side of the building. I'm actually not sure if this side is accurate to the movies since I couldn't find any reference pictures of this side of the tower. If it isn't, please leave your barrage of nerdy complaints in the comments down below. A top view of the tower. It was quite a challenge to get the curvature of the platforms at the top right. As mentioned before, the ball return mechanism only works with mazes that have holes for the ball to go through, but of course you can use mazes without holes as well. Here is how it looks with an example maze which is the official maze from the set with a new color scheme and modified to have real holes. Please note that this maze is just for demonstration purposes and not part of the entry. There is a slightly tilted platform below the maze so that if your ball falls through the maze, it will be guided down to a chute through which it rolls down to the hangar below. Once in the hangar, the ball rolls down the channel on the left, around the outside of the landing platform (which features a working turntable), and back towards the rear of the hangar through the channel on the right. The ball then rolls down a ramp that leads to the front of the building where it then zig-zags down the slanted windows. Once it gets to the bottom, the ball enters the building through an open window and rolls down a channel that leads to the elevator chain in the back. When it gets to the chain, the ball gets picked up by two prongs and lifted up to the top by Jarvis (i.e. a Power Functions motor). That much is clear. The only question is: If you put Thor's hammer on the ball elevator and it goes up, is the elevator worthy? Once it gets to the top, the ball is dropped onto the rails that lead out of the building and back into the maze. The cycle is complete and the fun can continue forever and ever until Infinity War. Now let's take a look at the interior of the tower. The front face of the building can be opened to access the inside as shown in the following image: The first floor features a lobby with the Avengers logo painted on the floor, a reception desk, and a waiting area. The second floor is where the Iron Legion is stored and repaired. Three fully posable robot arms with different tools hang from the ceiling and there is a rack of spare parts and other tools in the back. Counting the spare parts, there are two dozen legionaries here. Clearly they haven't been painted yet at this stage of the assembly. The third floor is a laboratory where the Science Bros, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, can do some science together and foolishly create maniacal A.I.s. There are many computers, holograms, and tools, as well as a medical bay in the back. I based the look of the lab on this concept art: On the fourth floor there is a large training room where the Avengers can hone their skills by sparring each other and dodging fire from several turrets. After training, they can relax in the living room on the fifth floor. Here, they can throw a party, have some drinks, and play a friendly game of Who Can Lift Thor's Hammer. The tower also includes living quarters for each of the six Avengers. The sixth floor houses Hulk and Thor's rooms. Hulk's room is expectedly messy and has food strewn about, a Hulk-sized weight lifting bar, a plant, and a TV. Thor's room on the other hand is decked out in Asgardian gold and looks nice and shiny. It features a golden statue with the winged helmet that Thor refuses to wear in the movies for some reason, a large banner, and a small desk with quills where he can write letters to Jane Foster and his friends back in Asgard. The seventh floor is where Steve Rogers and Tony Stark live. Steve's room is filled with old-timey things like wooden furniture and a phonograph, as well as the American flag of course, and a hanger for his shield. And yes, that newspaper on his desk is the Old Times. Tony's room reflects his egotistical playboy lifestyle as it features a large painting of his alter ego, a hi-tech stereo, and a bed large enough for one or more lady friends to spend the night with him. Note the contrast between Steve's giant old phone and Tony's little smartphone on the other side of the wall. Black Widow and Hawkeye's rooms take up the eighth floor. Both feature a simple bed and a wall where they can hang up their weapons. Additionally, Natasha's room also has a closet and a make-up table (a girl's gotta look good while saving the world! ) while Clint's room has a dart board and a desk where he crafts his arrows. You can click the images for higher resolution and you can download the LXF file here: Avengers Tilt System.lxf Feel free to open it in LDD and explore the tower as I have spent a lot of time building it and putting in more details than I probably should have. I hope you like it and look forward to your feedback. Excelsior!
  8. I have been waiting for this set for quite a long time. When I saw when it was being released, I couldn't wait. I knew exactly what I was going to do with this. The Sinister/Insidious Six vs Spiderman and his Amazing Clones! And for the non purest, look away, some villains have made their way!
  9. After seeing a lot of people make customs minifigs, I though I should start giving it a try. So for my first minifig I will make a custom Blade. The one piece I need help finding is a torso for Blade, any ideas?

    Marvel Statuettes

Hi all, Complete long shot but does anyone happen to be selling the 4 statuettes from the Helicarrier set? Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye and Nick Fury (I have the SHIELD agent). Last 4 I need to complete my Superheroes line up. I was after one on Bricklink which was a good price from the US and as they got my message somebody else purchased it . You win some, you lose some!
  11. Hi, I'm new, so if this is not the correct type of post to make in this section, I apologize. Anyway, the most troubling thing to me, as someone who is trying to collect all the Marvel figures are the Comic-Con exclusives. As a Lego purist, I generally avoid buying any sort of custom pieces, but I eventually caved and started looking for replicas of the Comic-Con figures. I found the Decool Jean Grey online for like three bucks, and it looks surprisingly very nice and almost exactly like the original figure (definitely beats shelling out $200+ for the real thing). Generally speaking, though I have had a lot of trouble finding replicas accurate enough to meet my standards. This past weekend I was at BrickUniverse in Raleigh, NC and I found a vendor selling a Spider-Woman replica, which I bought (I believe I have his business card, so I can provide details if requested). Otherwise, though, I haven't had much luck. What is the general consensus on buying replicas over the real thing in extreme cases like this? Has anyone else found any good replicas of the Comic-Con figures that I haven't? If so, where did you find them?

    Hey, I'm Owen.

Hi! I'm Owen. I'm a film student in my fifth semester, and I've been into Lego-collecting and building most of my life. I haven't been a part of a forum community in a bit, and I thought it would be good to have others perspective on creations and ideas I might have, as well as where to get certain components that may be difficult to find. I'm a big comic-book fan, and have currently been working on collecting a lot of the Lego Marvel stuff, and have been trying to make the figures and sets more comic-accurate using (mostly) only stock pieces, as well as creating my own stuff.

  14. Has anyone noticed how Lego has so many obsessions when it comes to Super Hero sets. Besides the obvious with making most of the sets based on their favorite characters... Like Spiderman and Batman. For Spiderman there has been 8 Marvel sets based on him. 1 Juniors set, 1 Micro Racers, and 3 more sets to come in the summer with him potentially him in the 4th Civil War set. There has been 8 variants to the character but really a lot of them don't change too much. Out of the 45 Marvel sets (Up to Doctor Strange) he has been in 14 of the sets. Now Batman..... There has been 8 "DC SUPERHEROES that he is not in. 2 Juniors sets, 1 Micro Racers and 2 more sets to come in the summer with the potential R'as Al Ghul set. There has been 20 variants to the character. So out of the 36 DC sets he has been in 24 of the sets. So there are 81 Superheroes sets, they have been in 38 of them which is almost half.... For some reason there has been 4 Quinjet variants (Avenjet included) Also they have the weird tendency to put fire extinguishers in sets. Or maybe they've just been ketchup bottles the whole time! Anyways I just thought I'd everyone know and see these obsessions Lego has. Let me know if you guys have noticed anything!
  15. First off, I would like to give credit to cmay91472 for the inspiration and ideas to do my own version of the Avengers Tower. I used three #76038 Attack on Avengers Tower sets and a handful of my own bricks that were needed to extend and finish the MOC. I extended the roof top deck/lounge area and made the front of the base able to open up. Red lighting on top due to low flying aircraft and some other ideas I had. Thanks for looking.

    Hello! Comic lover inbound!

Hi, my name is Ian. I loved LEGO so much as a kid, but when I got to high school I went into my "Dark Ages". Fortunately, or unfortunately for my wallet, I started working at a local Toys R Us my second year in college and have fallen back in love. I've always loved Spider-man and Batman, so those are the sets I usually buy. I've managed to buy every Marvel set so far except the first Quinjet, so that's probably the line I love the most. I haven't done a lot of MOCs, but I do enjoy recreating people I know in LEGO form, that's me pre-beard as my pic. Glad to be a part of an AFOL community now!
  21. HI! My name is Robert and I am I a collector of legos, I have many sets and mini-figures, and always open to a conversation anytime! If you would like to buy or sell superhero related parts, figures or sets, please message me!
  22. Does anyone know how long usually a set from the beginning of being marked as "retiring soon" to completely retired? Because I want to purchase several sets from those which being marked but I also consider for the future promotional bonus if it is going for several months. Thanks beforehand :)

    LEGO Early Discontinuation?

I have noticed that when I visited LEGO's shop@home to buy the Phantom set, it was discontinued, then I looked at a set released later on, the Wookiee Gunship, also discontinued. Is lego discontinuing sets early now?.
  24. What monstrous threat could bring together a wizard, a kung fu master, and an immortal valkyrie? The journey of the Defenders is about to begin. I started developing this earlier in the year, and actually shot quite a bit of it before the summer. The Defenders was originally going to be one brickfilm, but as I started working on the script I realised it had the potential to be a series. This is deliberately quite fun and comical, as the series is an homage primarily the original Defenders comics from the '60s that I had been reading at the time. They're quirky, full of mystical weirdnesses, and heavy on needless exposition, all of which I've tried to make fit in this series too (to varying degrees of success).
