  2. Blast off for adventure with the heroic crew of the Icarus starship! Greetings fellow builders and designers. I am new to your forum. My name is AJ and I am a welder, sculptor and sometimes furniture builder. Please permit me to share a photo and link to my first submission to the LEGO Ideas program: The Icarus starship from the Planet of the Apes universe. I have envisioned a combined Command, Survey, and Return Vehicle or C.S.R.V. Here is a link to the official LEGO Ideas page for my project if you would like to see more photos, read a full description, and perhaps vote your support. Thanks! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0d59308d-9ec4-490f-b646-b9cbce703487
  3. First of all, I'm not a videogame guy; I've never really played any video game, save for a few classic arcade games a couple of times. But, I am fascinated by many of the novel back stories and plots of numerous videogames, particularly those of a alternate historical basis. The three prominent videogame franchises that I think could make for some incredible movies are the Wolfenstein, BioShock, and Fallout games specifically. These three franchises have had been pondered upon by various film studios for film adaptations, but have currently been put on the back burner or shelved. One other franchise that I'd like to see adapted for film is Crimson Skies; but currently, it may not have much relevance now. So what cinematic videogame franchise adaptations are you anticipating and/or wish for? Discussion of movies focused generally on videogames and/or videogaming (Wreck-It Ralph and Ready Player One, for example) is also allowed by the way.
  4. Congratulations to the BURPAMOUNT SCUM TEAM Ari Nougat (Shadows), Thelma Brickmacher (Kintobor), Studcille B DeMille (Khscarymovie4) and the sole survivor Roger Ebrick (Lord Duvors)! A big thank you to all of the players and my wonderful co-host DarkDragon. I'll have my final thoughts up later. Deadboard Scumboard Players and Actions Once again, thank you so much, and hope you all had fun!

  7. I had the opportunity to watch the LEGO Ninjago movie today, as part of a press preview showing in Seattle, WA. The showing included members of the press, Members of the local LEGO User's Group (SEALUG), and members of the community.NOTE: While I'm trying to be spoiler-free, please proceed with caution! As a point of context, I have very little knowledge about the Ninjago world; I haven’t built any of the sets or watched the TV show. My typical focus is LEGO and Architecture, although I dabble in Technic, Creator, and Star Wars themes. Story The movie begins with a brief live-action shell story containing none other than Jacky Chan as a real-life Master Wu. We are quickly (and painlessly) transitioned into Ninjago city, a beautiful brick built city which is obviously inspired by Asian architecture. I did not see specific references to China, Japan, Korea, or other countries in the region, so I think they have tried to keep it nonspecific. (I do not feel qualified to determine if this is a sincere effort or cultural appropriation.) We are quickly introduced to the cast of characters and the conflict between the “good guys” (Master Wu, Lloyd, Cole, Jay, Kai, Nya, Zane), and Garmadon – the seemingly one-sided villain. We are also introduced to Lloyd’s mom, Koko. The film draws obvious parallels to classic Monster / Robot invasion themes. Within the first 30 minutes, the connection between the main characters becomes clear, setting the stage for the film’s core story line. Details Without going into specific spoilers, I wanted to call out a few details of the film which helped it shine... Music – Through a mix of flute melodies and popular songs, the transitional moments in the film are emphasized with complementary music selections. They are nice easter-eggs for older viewers. It’s a bit heavy-handed at times, but the film isn’t trying to be subtle, so it works. Style – The movie environment is richly detailed and attractively rendered. The film used a blend of brick-built environments and rendered 3d scenes to a positive effect. In contrast to the original LEGO movie, most of the landscape and water details are not brick-built, but I felt like it did not detract from overall effect. Animation – The stop-motion style of animation perfected on the original LEGO movie returns for this film. I think this is a good decision, as the subtle pauses of the minifigures as they move remind the viewer that it is in fact a toy. I did notice that they took more liberties in changing the angle of arms and heads beyond what is possible with real bricks. In this way, the film is a bit less authentic, but I didn’t feel like it was too distracting. LEGO'iness My biggest pleasure in the original LEGO movie, and biggest disappointment in The LEGO Batman Movie stems from the role LEGO plays in the storyline. The plot of The LEGO Movie is inextricably linked to the LEGO medium, be it the various historic LEGO realms, the constant re-building of components into creative solutions, or even the moment where Emmet can finally “see” the LEGO elements and their associated Part ID’s. The movie was bursting with easter eggs and natively LEGO moments that were a lot of fun to see as an AFOL. By contrast, The LEGO Batman Movie was a Batman movie first, and the LEGO aspects felt like an afterthought. The movie’s core plot would have worked just as well as an animated film, a cartoon, or even a live-action film. This was disappointing to me as a fan of LEGO first, and Batman second. (By contrast, friends who love the Batman franchise were more positive about the film.) The LEGO Ninjago Movie isn’t quite as strongly tied to the brick as the original LEGO Movie, but it’s better. There are lots of clever parts usage moments, and the storyline features specific LEGO elements in a prominent way. For my closing thoughts, and an analysis of how closely the official LEGO sets match the movie, visit http://brickarchitect.com/2017/ninjago-movie/ Thanks, ---tom

    Lego USCSS Nostromo with Refinery

Hi everybody, With the new Alien: Convenant movie coming to cinemas this May, I wanted to pay tribute to the original Alien motion picture (1979) by building the space ship in which this sci-fi classic is set – the USCSS Nostromo. Since there are already some beautiful Lego designs of the Nostromo ship (the “towing vehicle”), I wanted to do something different. As Alien fans will know, in the first few minutes of the movie, a massive refinery is moving silently through open space. I would try building this ore refinery! I hope you like the result and thank you for your feedback and comments. A special shout-out goes to the Arvo Brothers, who did some amazing Alien designs. Their work and our mutual passion inspired me to start this first Lego project . The Lego Model: Bricks: 3'144 Scale: 1:42000 (approx.) Length: 55 cm (22 in) Width: 40 cm (16 in) Height: 38 cm (15 in) Weight: 3.4 kg (7.5 lb) The build After doing some research; I started with new and old dark gray bricks. Halfway in the project the model looked like a dark “blob” and I decided to change the color to light gray. After I used up all my old gray bricks, I spend way too much money on buying bricks – especially small parts for the detailing. At first I thought the different coloring of the bricks would not work, but the fact it is not completely build out of new bricks fits the model well. The Challenges One of the main challenges, was the decision to having the top- and bottom section inverted. The reason for doing this, was to allow me to detail the model with round bricks both on the top as well as the bottom. It had to look like a refinery with tanks, pipes and structures. With every brick, it became more evident, the stability would be a challenge. The two biggest towers standing in the rear became quite heavy. This works in space with zero gravity, but on earth this means the model started tipping backward and looked more and more like a banana! After many, many trails and errors it finally worked in the end. I hope you out there like it! You can find all the pictures here on Flickr. Cheers, Remco

    KUBO in LEGO Version

"KUBO and two Strings", the animation movie is so fantastic, I loved it so much. So I try to build the characters by LEGO pieces, and try to make them as small as I can. Here we go. I will show you 1 by 1, first is KUBO. i kept the shape of his mouth just like that he was telling the story. You can look at the back, I used a spider to present the bug image. When KUBO carried the two strings, he looks like this. The photo he taken with Mini-Hanzang. And the "Mother Monkey" And the "Father Bug" Let's look at the size compare. Father and Son Mother and Child The family I used the unique building technique to build the heads, and make them close to 7.5 similar with they are in the movie. Front looking The Back looking And the short video for introduction: Thanks for watching, See you next model.

    LEGO Batman Movie MOC's

Hi Everyone! This is a new topic to share your LEGO Batman Movie MOC. Enjoy it! :) Here is my first two LEGO Batman Movie moc:
  24. This is MOC of March 2014. It has been exhibited at the exhibition DoubleBrick Fest 2014 at Dolgoprudny, Moscow region. I always wanted to portray a scene from some film. I chose this film because this scene depicts a challenge to those who sets the rules. As punishment for a past rebellion, each of the 12 districts of the nation of Panem is forced by the victorious Capitol to annually select two tributes, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18, to fight to the death in the Hunger Games. According to the rules, there can be only one winner. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark of District 12 get to games and reach the end - which means that one must kill the other. But Katniss does not want to play by the rules of the Capitol, and offers Pete to eat poisonous berries together so that there was no winner of the Games. The trick works, frightened organizers of the Games hastily stopped the tributes and declared them the winners. Main view. Bigger view. A scene in the movie takes place near the Horn of Plenty - abstract metal construction, about which at the beginning of the Games the organizers placed the weapons and equipment for the tributes. Horn of Plenty in the film. It is a little bigger than baseplate 32x32. The whole structure is fairly fragile, as most of the plates are fixed at an angle. Inside the Horn of Plenty. In fact, my Horn is not very similar to the original, and it is not what I wanted, but, judging by the reactions of the visitors of out exhibition, it came really recognizable. And this is the main point! :) Rear view. View from above. Another view. Katniss' bow, quiver and backpack. From Peeta's view. From Katniss' view. Minifigures. Promotion photo of Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen). Promotion photo of Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark). The other side of the minifigures. Here they are, the Winners of the 74th Hunger Games! Thanks for watching and any comments are very welcomed!
