Here's a rundown of what I built for the BioCup 2024. BioCup 2024 R0: Journey to Mars! Journey to Mars by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr "Seven years of astronaut school. Seven more years of travel... And here we are. RING RING RING .... Time to wake up." Built for the preliminary round of the BioCup. Theme: space. For this MOC, I combined the classic Lunar Buggy aesthetic with some modern concept art designs to yield this piece. The astronaut builds on top of a Technic Fig whose arms are swapped out for thicker-looking padded arms. The legs get a similar treatment with metal ingots in white. Merlin the deranged! by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr "Merlin's newfound fascination with alchemy has yielded an array of.... interesting experiments, to say the least." Built for BioCup 2024 R1 Theme: Energy Subtheme: Chemical Building something interesting for this round was a real challenge. I toyed around with various concepts until I stumbled upon my limited collection of light nougat bricks.. and then a face emerged. Slowly over the next few days, I built up Merlin and the rest of the scene, inspired by an alchemical twist on the traditional Dungeons and Dragons evil wizard trope. The whole time I was building, you could hear me sing "Necromancer" by Judas Priest. In fact, this ended up being the theme song of this build, and Merlin was built in the image of Rob Halford, legendary musician and Judas Priest frontman, who's also a native Brummie! The gargoyles at the back came last; they were more of an afterthought that panned out quite well I must admit. Sadly, this MOC didn't make it through the matchup I was in, but I took it to my display at Brick Festival Birmingham the following day (Saturday 22nd of June), where it received widespread critical acclaim.

This set here is the only Bionicle (Playsets) set I've so far. It's a fun set with lot's of great play features and some very interesting minifigures. The build will take a while but I didn't have any problems with this model. We also get a few stickers to put on. This set includes a big visorak which has the golden version of the mask from the first Makuta figure. If you push the back you can also shoot a bigger flick-missile. We also get two big torches with this set. The entrance of this tower has a very big mask piece of Turaga Dume. On the first level you can see a flick-missile which you can sviwel full 360°. You can also lift the big gates on the front of this flick-missile up if you want to move it. On the next level is a balcony. The balcony on the 4th level has a piece which you can move up and down. There's also a green string on each side which you can use for the small visorak to climb up. These visorak also glow in the dark! On each side of the building you can also see a wall which you can open if you want to enter the building. On one side you can also find a catapult which will shoot some nice rock pieces. I really can't complain about this model. All in all this set is a great set and I would HIGHLY recommend you to get this. You can find this set on eBay, BrickLink and Amazon for sure. Here is the link where you can check out the full gallery I made for this set on my website: www.klokriecher.de Videos I made of this set: Stopmotion Review Speed Build

The year is 2003. We're back in Mata Nui! Enjoy this scene of daily life in island paradise, featuring fully-poseable Matoran builds. The Po-Koro pottery works turns local clay and flammable Onu-Koro mine gas into distinctive red pottery seen ubiquitously across Mata Nui. Matoran come from across the island not only to buy their pots but to watch the masters at work. Master potter Okoa throws pots on a custom-made, wind-powered pottery wheel. His apprentice Whe'ai meticulously glazes each pot with glazes made from local deposits of tin and iron. Together, Okoa and Whe'ai keep the kiln burning day and night. Their business partner Akamu is the salesman, tending their roadside stall and selling fine pottery to Matoran from all six villages.

I present to you, my Blacktron Bionicle Boat. I combined my three favorite Lego things into one. It's a boat. built out of Bionicle. In the Blacktron 2 colour scheme. Honestly, I debated which subforum to actually post this, but I decided on Pirates, cause it's a boat. Blacktron Bionicle Boat It's equal parts Blacktron, Bionicle, and Boat. For the "vehicles and mounts" category of TTV's GWP style Build contest I remade the Boxor, one of my most favourite vehicles in the whole of Bionicle. I originally made it in studio, and then I've been gathering the parts to make it IRL for the past week or so. Boxor (GWP Style) by Admiraltyphoon, on Flickr I liked the mechanics of the original, but I wanted to try and give it a wider range of articulation, so I kept the same linkage designs but with balljoints instead, so the arms and feet can pivot, and the legs can splay outwards! Boxor (GWP Style) by Admiraltyphoon, on Flickr The back, just like the original, has a tohunga arm for its spine, and can hinge back for the cockpit top to hinge up and fit in Nuparu (or any other GWP style tohunga), which actually stays in place with a single stud on the seat, so you can actually have it look around without the top pressing on his head. Boxor (GWP Style) by Admiraltyphoon, on Flickr I've also made instructions available on Rebrickable, so you can build it yourself! https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-145743/Admiraltyphoon/bionicle-boxor-gwp-style/#details

According to @exabricksleogo_ on Instagram, Bionicle will return in 2025. No details have been provided as to the extent of the return, what the story will be and if it will connect to G1 and/or G2, nor what the sets will be like (though system over CCBS is a safe bet). Thoughts?

I love this channel and now there is a video for LEGO. EDIT: A video with a potted history of LEGO and a rundown on Bionicle. I have followed this channel a few years and there is plenty of interesting Toy and Cartoon related content. This is the first about LEGO though.

After the exhibition season, back to the bench and nothing better than a good old TIE variant to boost my creativity. Let's all hail the TIE-Krykna. TIE-Krykna by Veynom, on Flickr It is the improbable hybrid between a classic TIE-Fighter, an imperial or separatist walker, and a few Bionicle parts. Nightmarish, isn't it? TIE-Krykna by Veynom, on Flickr TIE-Krykna by Veynom, on Flickr TIE-Krykna by Veynom, on Flickr Inspiration came when after liking an internet meme mixing a TIE-Fighter cockpit with legs from a "Homing Spider" (set 75016). Just doing the same was too easy, and not stable enough to my taste. Besides, I had that bag of unused Bionicle parts received from a friend... The name "Krykna" was inspired by my wife who rightfully (Rule N2: Wifes are always right) told me that it can't be a TIE-Spider as spiders have 8 legs and my TIE-thing has only 6 of these. For a brief moment, I strongly considered re-engineering the entire MOC to include 2 more legs. Ultimately, I decided first to google for Star Wars spiders and found the Krykna. This horrible beast from SW Rebels was perfect. No need to rebuild everything, exit the TIE-Spider and long live the TIE-Krykna. Rebranding was less cumbersome. Note that I did not flinch when my wife spoke about "oh, no, not another TIE-thing!", because I remembered just in time about rule N1: Wifes are right. PS: for those who want to know rule N3: it is easy: 'In case of doubt, refer to rule N1".

Hi!I don't know if this build is enough 'action figure' for this forum, but at least I have seven brick-built Toa to show here, and their weapons. I hope you can appreciate the scenery as bonus! Back in August I created an entry for the "90th Anniversary: Bionicle Theme Celebrations" contest on Ideas. My build is a tribute to the theme that loved for years: Bionicle. I grew up with Bionicle "Mask of Light: The Movie", and it's still one of the very few films I rewatch sometimes. The world of Mata Nui, the Toa and the Matoran, the different environments and strange architecture, and the soundtrack too, still resonate with me. With this build I wanted to capture the essence of each Toa and display them in their natural environment. The Toa Nuva, being my favourites, formed the basis of my designs, but you'll see hints of Toa Mata and Metru. I gave each Toa a unique build, but with some features shared between them. The most challenging part were their masks, because of the limited space and because I really wanted those to represent Toa. I feel like if I'd build these masks in alternative colours, it would still be possible to tell which design belongs to who. The weapons were also fun to make. I also varied their heights: Pohatu is one of the shortest, while Kopaka and Onua are significantly taller. As you can see, I used Mixel ball joints, technic pins, hinge plates and bar-clip connections to give these guys a nice range of motion. Unfortunately, no wrist articulation and the feet can't turn side to side. Some of the masks are a bit fragile, and all Toa are prone to fall over because they are top heavy and have relatively small feet. So on the whole, playing with them is certainly possible, but in the end a little frustrating. In the model, I attached the Toa with studs under their feet, and in the case of Takanuva with stud with shaft pieces to the side of his feet sticking into the ground. Makes life easier when moving the build around. Look closer into the background and you may notice a carving of the Great Spirit Robot! Thanks for reading! C&C appreciated!

How can I tell if hose parts are cut or not?
Transparency for Effect posted a topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm not even entirely sure being cut is the case, but I'm comparing two different Hose, Ribbed 7mm D. parts of the same axle length (y'know, these pieces: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=522) for a Sand Tarakava replica and I think one piece has one more of the rings than the other and thus maybe a little longer. Is this standard for the pieces to be slightly different like that, or has there been piece alteration here? As someone whose purist in the sense that I just want a LEGO set to have the parts as they normally are, can you tell if a hose part has been cut down (and thus not the actual piece) if that's even what's happening here? For all I know the messy-looking ends of the parts may just be the condition or so. I sorta just get OCD over the parts being correct, a similar case if Hose, Rigid 3mm D. parts (https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=528) are cut or distinguishing between the proto minifigure blank heads and regular minifigure heads whose face printing has been rubbed off over time (as well as stuff like if parts are actually bootleg instead of authentic LEGO, but that's another can of worms). EDIT: Looking at some sealed parts from a bag of the Sidorak set, yeah the inconsistent rings seems to be present there too, and a little weird "fraying" at an end where part of the circle is raised above the rest of it. Guessing LEGO's production itself cuts the pieces down from a long length into the right size and the softer plastic is why stuff like that happens? -
Hello denizens of Eurobricks! This MOC was started about February 2019 but I got stuck on the head and lost my files, I started again last October and finished it around the last day of the year. I figured although this creation is from the Bionicle universe (well it kind of is the universe) it is a sci-fi creation and a system build so it goes here I'm quite proud of it as it's my first build using Bricklink Studio and I definitely am going to do most of my building (or at least planning and part budgeting) in Studio from now on. Edit: added the scale comparison photo. Here's the link to the ideas page that has views of the other sides: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0c310848-b5eb-4d71-85b6-258bc99b0b73 One area I definitely need to fix is the spine-which has numerous collisions due to how difficult flex hoses are to work with in Studio. After the last update it numbers 1984 parts, happy to hear any advice from those experienced with mechs etc or who have ideas for additions

Hey there, I'm here to present a MOC I've finally took the time to take decent pictures of, Fali'Ven. Click on the picture to access the gallery ! Fali'ven is an adventurer in the Neverscape era of Universcape, a french Fan Universe created by Loserkiller. While at a certain point of his life he explored dungeons with a fellow explorer from the same race, he's now working alone. This character doesn't have any specific powers, and only rely on his agility and his fighting skills to survive the many traps and ennemies that awaits anyone who dare enter the different sacred places hidden and scattered in Universcape. The basis of this design is, as most of you may have noticed, the blue Vahki, Bordakh. I wanted it to have a G1 feel, and had to have elements from the original Vahki, but designed as a hero/adventurer, so with tweaked proportions and armor. The blades were an afterthought, as I had them lying on my desk, since I didn't use them on my rework of Chi Panthar, and they just looked perfect with this MOC. The actual backstory of this guy is taken back from 2004, when the Vahki actually came out. My friend found them pretty early and knowing that I was waiting eagerly for Bordakh to come out, bought it and offered it to me as a gift. Fast forward several months, we were playing with several Bionicle figures, in an universe similar to the one from The Legend of Zelda, where my Bordakh, wearing the King Mathias cape, was a hero who needed to defeat the evil gan... Ultimate Dume. I remember having fun with him for several hours and this is still to this day one of the fondest memories of us that I have. While he left us several years ago, the idea of remaking this character never left me and I finally had the inspiration I needed last august, for the result you can see here. As always, comments and criticism is welcome !

Never show your back to the enemy. Built for GOURD PARTY, a competition with some friends. I temporarily joined in to give them a little trouble during their round. Quick 2-day build. Got the general idea of what I wanted to do, although ran out of time to embellish more. I probably will revisit this eventually and clean up a lot of it.
