    Holiday Destination - Beach (WIP)

Hi all, I've been wanting to build a Lego city for a very long time, ever since I started watching YouTube videos on people's cities and thinking 'I wish I could do that', then I moved into my own house and the dream became a reality! It took a while between deciding to do it and actually doing it, mainly because I had no idea how to do it and which route to take. I wasn't too keen on having an 'urban' looking city, nothing against them (and the majority of those I've seen are incredible) but I wanted something more cheery and relaxing. In the end, I decided to model my city on a Spanish holiday destination where I used to go when I was younger; it had everything I wanted to build: beach, walkway, palm trees, restaurants, and lots more little bits and pieces that'd make for an interesting build. For my first build I wanted to do something relatively simple (which later turned out NOT to be simple) so I chose to do the 'hub' of the whole scene: the beach. http://s1373.photobu...html?sort=3&o=0 The wall was the tricky (or time consuming) part - initially I build the whole structure with a one stud overlap, and meant to form a 'lip' on the top of the wall for baseplates to be slotted nicely on top and held together with tiles. This was all well and good until I realised it would be impossible to move the finished town if I kept it in that layout, so I changed to a modular method: I plan to raise the whole city to be level with the walls of the beach, and connect it all using technic pins. It's a costly method, and maybe a bit overkill, but I'll be the easiest way to allow the town to be mobile. I'm wanting to finish the beach before I start work on another main part, and need a mountain of tan 4 x 4 plates and trans light blue 1 x 2 plates, the latter of which is very expensive for its size (maybe my luck will come in and it'll appear on a pick-a-brick wall...) but my side project for this - the part that I need help with - is the furniture for the beach: lilos, deck chairs, umbrellas, tables etc. If anyone's made or seen anything like that (or has any suggestions of what else could go on the beach), I'd very much enjoy seeing it! Thank you all very much, EuroBricks is slowly becoming my most visited site - mainly because I've not seen one nasty or hurtful comment yet, and that's wonderful I have a more detailed blog of this at www.legoseafronttown.blogspot.co.uk (hopefully I can post the link) which I plan to update in the coming few days.

    MOC - ANVIL Hardware Store

I'm back again with my favorite kind of MOC......a hardware store ! This time a bit different, no stickers at all, based on the new Lego shop design and an original logo/name/brand. You can see why it's called ANVIL Hardware right ? I still might have a few little changes yet......like staff and customers......and it will be forming a new series of MOC's by myself (no, not for NM). Keep watching !

    (WIP)-City Canal

Today I would like to present you a project that I've pursued since I was a child, when I dreamed of building a diorama to represent a small town on many levels, full of canals and waterways, waterfalls and more. At that time in my naivety I imagined a diorama on 2x2 meters developing mostly in height, which is not now feasible to consider what I have in mind now. This idea came after a trip to Normandy last summer. While I was in those beautiful old towns characterized by canals, weirs and little falls, I burned with the desire to reproduce them and start working on this project. At the end of 2013 I had already made LDD plans for the most part of the modules. First of all I created the canal. I decided to limit the dimensions of this diorama because my project is to put it inside a showcase in my new house, so it cannot be enormous. I'm not going to disassembly everything and I don't want to spend my life cleaning the diorama. I used the 8x8 transparent light blu plates to simulate water and let to see the bottom. The idea was that you could see algae, fish and stones on the depth. Around the canal I made a parapet and a floor made of crushed stone as in many old towns. In order to connect the canal to the zero level of the baseplate, I decided to place two weirs. In this way I could make a basin that would give more emphasis to a more complex and alive depth. After the basin I placed another weir in order to have the canal at zero level then disappearing underground. Next to the canal I created raised modules to support standard modular buildings placed on baseplates. The raised part is then completed with a staircase flanked by a tanks fountain and a park with a Snack bar. On one side of the hill I placed a ruined tower. The park ends with a gate opened to the street. Here I built a Bus Stop and a telephon boot. This setting would have been part of the collective diorama for an event in Reggio Emilia. At the end some things have been completed a bit 'in a hurry (for example the tower). Unfortunately the event of Reggio Emilia was canceled a little before its inauguration. Later I had to expose it at the end of February in another event in Ferrara. Sadly, that same week my mother passed away and I was not able to expose it. Currently, all parts are in some boxes in the garage. My desire to attend events has completely disappeared and unfortunately apart from the city mansion which participates in the EB contest months ago I'm really locked with my projects. The idea is to continue creating more modules for the old town, a medieval gate and other accessories for street furniture. Let's see how to proceed. For now I am attaching pictures of the projects, in the next few days I'll try to describe the various modules and add more photos of what have been built until now. https://www.flickr.c...57639549797624/ www.flickr.com/photos/kevin8/sets/72157639549797624/ Today I will show you the first module. It was not one of the images saved as LDD png, because I decided to add it at last. My idea was to have modulars building all surrounded the canal, but it was too much overwhelming, it finally didn't have enough space. So I started with a little square and being 6-bricks tall, why don't use it to dig a hole? I placed some workmen who are soldering a pipe in the ground. Obviously the square is a little of a mess. Being an old town with some attractive for tourists, I put also some street musicians, I don't know how much their show is being washed-up by the workers... And at last the square is completed with a couple of public benches with planters (I've seen them in many old towns I liked the idea) and 4 lamp posts. I would like to change something like the black inside the compass rose with a lighter color, but that's it. The first module I have designed and realized is the one that represents the area in which the channel exits from the underground and becomes an element of urban design. I keep repeating how I am attracted by the old towns in northern Europe. I find them an example to be imitated for cleaning and the care they put into each details. In particular flowers and points of interest throughout the centre. Thus, in this first module I built a couple of flower pots hooked to a railing and plants. The plants give me some concern. Initially I built to do very quickly, because in a short time I would have to expose this diorama. But I do not deny that I would pick them up and change them a bit, particularly the foot of the tree. For the lamps in this case, I decided to keep the line of modular buildings bordering the canal. As you can see, the trans-clear blue plates, raised from the bed of the canal, gives the effect of transparency I was looking for ... a city canal like this, has a rippled surface that can be well represented by the studs on the plates and in this way fishes and algae can be glimpsed in a not too defined way. Along the walls I added a bit of creepings (which never hurts). For this diorama I made a kind of basket with round lid that I often see in towns. It is not difficult to realize, anyway google can help when you need some references... I also placed one of the benches with backrest wrought iron ... I like the result very much. Finally, being a tourist place, I thought of placing a mime dressed as the Statue of Liberty and a couple of tourists ... This is the third module. Here the canal reaches the weir with the first jump. It is positioned at a bridge on which I placed the minifig representing me, looking to the work done so far. The weir tries to reproduce the real mechanism but of course, it doesn't work. On one side of the canal I placed a bike rack bike. The bicycle in light blue with the red tile comes from a "rent a bike" shop I'm going to create (beware from stealing my idea!!! ). A pair of street sweepers are cleaning (one has just changed the bag in a bin). Even in this module I made pots filled with flowers hanging on the edge of the parapet. There's another couple of tourists in this module. They are an involuntary tribute to an Afol friend of mine who uses the same minifig face to represent himself... The next module is the water basin. In my original intention there was to be a watermill with the wheel inside the water. Having to make everything to the standard modular buildings, I had to discard this idea. I do not deny that in the very near future I would like to change it to add the mill. The depth of the basin is greater in order to fill it with various staff. In addition to algae and fishes I added other details like a bin, a skeleton... I made a stair that goes down to access a platform on which a fisherman is pulling on a nice fish. This stair is protected with a lock. Here, too, I have made several pots of flowers and flowered creepings. On the water there are a couple of ducks and a swan. The river goes through another weir bringing the canal to the zero level of the baseplate. This point is the link between the rest of the diorama. As you can see the effect of the transparency of the water is very pleasant in this form. The next part I'm describing is the staircase that runs along the canal. This staircase is one of the points of union between the hill and the zero level of the baseplates. The canal continues until it disappears under a small wooden bridge in the park surrounding the old town. To the left of the stairs there is a fountain made with tanks. Inside the water of the canal another fisherman is struggling with his hobby. A girl using one of the Bike from the Bike Sharing. On the right of the basin I built another module with a second staircase, to access the park, and the ruins of an ancient tower. There are some tourists in the ruins, while at the base of the hill a little boy is starting a graffiti with a can of spray color. The ruins of the tower are shrouded in some vines. In the near future I would like to complete the tower. The current one has been constructed so to be able to speed up the completion of the work. The last part is the park surrounding the old city. The entrance has walkways similar to standard modular buildings. In this way it is possible to attach it to the rest of the city. I've put some people on it and some urban furnitures. You can see a bus stop a phone boot and a mailbox. I'm moderately proud of the phone boot, because simply moving to a 5 studs wide I found the ideal proportion between dimensions and usability. The bus stop even is a good result being very similar to the real ones. After the entrance I placed a fountain. Around the fountain some kids are attending to the show of the clowns who are making some baloon-animals and some music. An artist is making a painting of the old town... Behind the fence you can see a couple of gardeners who are picking up some leaves and near the entrance a place where sweepers placed the garbage cans... It is hidden by some flowers pots to be more appropriate to the rest of the park. Some people are relaxing in the park. Somewhere in the park I've placed a Snack Bar. It is made of wood and similar to a little cottage. As you can see it is really narrow, but there's almost everything. A fridge, a sink... inside there's just the place for a minifig. Outside there's a lot of people waiting for their drinks or snacks. That's all for now. Here's the complete Flickr gallery. www.flickr.com/photos/kevin8/sets/72157644673791880/with/14194240368/
  5. Since some are having fun rebuilding actual sets into different items, I thought I do something along similar lines......though I had to add about a dozen extra parts not included in these....... and Now the result of the fusion of designs plus a few extra little ideas of my own...... Keep watching.....I might build something else out of the scraps left over.

    (WIP), My Corner Fire Brigade

Hi again! Here to show my work in progress my modular 64x32 corner fire brigade. I tried to do something a little unique compared to other FB mods, and I don't see many corner mods. I'm going to rip apart a lot of it later to tweak some seams and get a sturdier design in some areas. I don't particularly like my bell tower, and will probably redesign the whole thing to make it....blockier. Sorry about the picture size. I'm riding the strugglebus today. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/CSIguy/FireBrigadeMod/091320141003.jpg

    hello from Lauriator89!

Hello to everybody! I'm Lauriator89 and I'm Italian! I'm a lego maniac since 1990. I love classic castle, pirates, town, monster fighters and toy story. I am very happy and proud to be on eurobricks and share with you my big passion for lego!
  9. Long time lurker, first time poster here. I got myself a fancy account and everything. So I finally got around to starting my own MOD, since I figured it was a good segue into making my own custom modular buildings. I'm working on a full on expansion to the Fire Brigade. I want it 64x32, with one end being a corner. I don't see too many 64x32 buildings on a corner, and I wanted to do something a little more unique than adding another floor or just extending the same design outwards like I see with many FB mods. The problem I'm coming too is angled walls. I would like a 45 degree wall on the corner, but nothing seems to be working out. Does anyone have any good recommended guides for angled walls, or maybe a technique in LDD they could show me? I'm truly stumped. I had a really good curved wall similar to what is shown in the Helm's Deep sets, but it didn't feel like it matched the FB motif. Finally, I would like some advice on roads. While I prefer brick built roads, I'd rather put my resources towards my buildings and just use road plates. The problem I come to it that if I use the sidewalk with the modulars plus the side walk on the roads it seems too wide, but if I build the modular on top of the side walk in the plate, the streets seem very narrow and tight. Any advice? Look forward to showing off my MOD once it's worthy of your guys' eyes. I admire the work I see here so much.

    The Northland - Relief Map

Hello Here comes the newest moc out of THE BRICK TIME - Building-yard The Northland - Micro Scale About 150 hours of work and nearly 2000 bricks flows in this project. A map of the Northland. The continent where all our story´s happens. First have a look at the facts: Scale: 1 Stud - about 3,2 Miles The map is a diagrammatic representation. The scale isn´t fixed. For example: The town´s are with intent bigger, because of their important meaning. But that downs´t mean, that they are really that big. One tree you see is a whole forrest in real. In the north lays the Loka-Massiv, a impregnable mountain range, and home of the barbarian tribes. To the south, behind the border lays a temperate zone and the realm: Northland. The urban and south is the granary of the whole continent. The three large towns are: Grimmhavn - Gate to the northland (located in the south) Dunholm - Capital (located in the middle of the urban south) Wehrhavn - largest harbor and home of the fleet (located in the north-west) Find out more on the FlickR gallery and on THE BRICK TIME. Best reagrds BoB
  13. I did write in recent posts for my last project that I was working on something of another rehash......hey, if Lego can do it so can I ! This might go next to the bank instead of the tractor shed.......I'll look into shortly, keep watching !
  14. Hello to everyone... After some modular buildings i decided to concentrate on some cars to put inside my town. But now, after a few attempts, I'm almost stuck. I hate 4 studs-wide Lego cars, they are mono seater, and it make no sense to me as well as being out of scale with the buildings. However, even making them 6 studs wide then the trucks should be from 8 or 6. But if you want to put 2 minifigs inside the car you have to make it 6 studs wide. It's a big problem. So I tried to make a Mini 6 studs wide, obviously, but in the end what I got is not satisfactory because it is higher than a standing minifig and quite disproportionate to the measures of the minifigs. Even if I'm very fond of lego minifigs, I must say that often their proportions complicate all the job. :/ What did do when making cars, what's your decision?

Oh, no not another Hardware Store !

Okay, so I started designing shop fittings that would suit a hardware store.....plus outdoors/sporting....so yeah, I though maybe another hardware store to go in my Avalonian seaside village.....now only a sign for the front I need to craft. Plus now a bonus modified design parked out the front........... Keep watching......more to come as usual !
  16. After I buillt the Haunted House I wanted to make another house in the same style. I'm not totally satisfied, but I'd like to share it before I take it apart. Han Solo's House It opens like the Haunted house High tech kitchen. Dinner in less than 15 parsecs. Princess Leia had some say on the bathroom design Hidden compartment in the living room Trophies and memorabilia Thanks for looking, sorry about the poor quality of the photos.
  17. I decided today to start a new series of designs that could be used in MOCs of stores, shops or the GE. Now I'm sorry for the poor photo but thanks to some tech problems....I had to use my phone camera. The first one is for sporting goods. Keep watching because there is more coming over the next few weeks. (plus if I can get the tech problems solved better image I will try for)

    MOC - Boardwalk Arcade

A wonderful boardwalk arcade for Lego minifigs to play some of the latest pinball machines and video games or compete on the classic bubble hockey and foosball tables. Maybe they come in to hear their favorite song on the antique jukebox. Whatever their pleasure, the bright and vivid atmosphere of this arcade is welcoming and warm. The model is based on those arcade halls that would typically be found on a beachfront boardwalk, but is common enough that it would fit into any city theme. I used 3 colors of blue, contrasted with the yellow and magenta colors for a beautiful facade and wild and energetic interior.
  20. My newest modular is a small hotel with a New Orleans French Quarter look. The first floor: Three rooms on the 2nd floor with a shared bath: The top floor apartment belongs to the owner - Mr. Good & Evil. His secret lab is accessed through the bookcase. And the back... Comments and ideas are welcome! Thanks for looking.
  21. Hi all, I would just like to start this thread to see what the general feeling is with regards to LED lighting in city/town vehicles and streets. Basically what would like to see in a city rescue vehicle? Would you like flashing lights on the top of the police/fire/ambulance/rescue vehicle and headlight/tail lights that stay on and would you want the LEDs to be controlled from a remote or just switched on/off on the vehicle? Likewise with street lighting. What would you want from LED lamp posts? I'm opening this discussion after seeing this video and wondering how popular this would be and if it was commercially available would you buy it? Many thanks Happy Building Neil

    Ideas for town moc

Ok eurobricks I need your help! Recently I bought a green baseplate to build a town on. So far I have a coffee shop, a park and road/sidewalk. But I have no idea what kind of stores to build! Would love some help and pictures of what they would sell, etc. for example if it was a tool shop a picture of like a power tool you made. thanks in advance! -Lazorapple
  24. Hello everyone! As promised to many of you who have followed me over the last few months there are some pictures of my full Winter Village version 2014. The village consists of 24 baseplates, various buildings, over 28.500 pieces and over 120 minifigs. A lot of hard work but that led me in the recent exhibition of Lecco (19-20 July in Italy) a great satisfaction. Thanks for watching and for your comments! The complete gallery and other HD images:

    MOC Soltown

Hola, I'm a new member, but have been lurking for many years. At the moment I'm working on a classic themed Lego town in our guest room/my Lego room. I want it too look very 80's and early 90's, because that was the era when I was a kid (I was born in 1981). But I want it to have new features also, so it feels like a town that's been around for some time, with different layers of time periods just like a real town. Soltown has an airport, two train stations, a medieval castle that attracts tourist, lots of policemen since it's a bit of a dictatorship, a harbor and so on. You'll see most of it in my shaky youtube video ... Here's the link It's still under construction. I think it will be finished in late August, because I'm going away on vacation. If you search for the hashtag #lego on instagram, you will probably see some more pics of the different stuff that's going on in Soltown. Anyways, I'm so inspired by all the cool MOCs your posting here, so I hope I can contribute some myself to this great community. Here's a pic of how Soltown looked a couple of weeks ago, but in the youtube video you'll see a lot of changes (I've removed the train yard because I wanted a more compact town)
