Benny's Classic Space mansion and town car - 75930 / 70906 MODs

I was inspired to create this model from the 2018 Jurassic World set 75930, Indoraptor Rampage at Lockwood Estate, with some design cues from set 10228, Haunted House, although in blue and white with trans yellow glass. The dollhouse-style model was built from the set pictures and from features from the movie itself, with the fall-apart play features removed and opening rear sections added to match the front half. The model also features a round "time window" for Benny to experiment with in his spare time. As usual, this classic space logo printed piece goes where this 4 x 2 slope is, just below the front balcony and right above the front door. The house without any figures, cars, or giant robots. The very large satellite dish on the roof is so Benny can communicate with the Classic Space fleet in any weather: rain, sunshine, snow, solar wind-storm, or nuclear fallout. Whatever the weather, Benny gets through! The rear of the mansion features a conservatory and the chimney flue, along with a back door and rear porch light. The house folds apart, with the two rear sections opening in quarters up to 90 degrees, while the conservatory opens up to 180 to allow for figure placement. (Up to five Technic pins can hold the model shut at key points for transportation with ease and handling with little fragility.) The front half on the found floor features the entry hall, TV room with couch and dining room. The second floor features the custom-printed super computer (un-printed here in LDD) and Benny's bedroom. The uppermost two floors features the science lab, with the time window and several other science experiments. Here is the huge 1970's super computer LL9000 (custom printed part) which takes up a sizable amount of space on the second level wall just above the entry hall. The right rear quarter features the conservatory and some furniture on the second and third floors, plus the dining room on the first floor. This section also has stairs from first to second floors, plus a '80's video game cabinet (Astro Nut, of course!) on the second floor. The left rear quarter features the fireplace and the stairs to the third floor, plus a miniature space monorail layout and a TV with VCR. This is Benny the 1980-something space guy's 1979 Moonraker made by Neptune Auto Group. The engine has been upgraded from a gasoline chugging-monster into a more environmentally-friendly Hydrogen-3 Fusion engine to turn it into a modern mechanical beast with a retro exterior. Benny added bigger tires to the car to get it over the craters of the small moon where Benny was stationed. The car also has a spare tire located on the opening trunk. The roof is removable, and the three seats can fit figures with air-tanks and helmets. The doors open in the front normally, but in the rear they open in a reversed pattern to create a wider opening. Real life version The building as it sits right now, before it gets torn apart to create the version seen in the first part above. Most of it's parts will be donated to create the mansion. Here is a new moc presented at a recent lego fan show. Builder, my friend Fabrizio Panini. The work required about three years of design and installation. The number of pieces used is about 170,000 pieces (of which 4,000 are trans-yellow only). Many moving parts. 10 XL motors and 10 custom LED cards were used. We do not know the total weight but we used about 15 kg of Technic pieces. I hope this sharing likes you. I will soon upload more videos on the channel. Good Buildings at All!

Apologies if this has already been posted and I somehow missed it or if posting a link to YouTube is verboten, but this video of every Classic Space set is really impressive! The filming isn't great but the collection is. I don't have anything to do with the collector, the interviewer or the event. As someone who has fond memories of the earliest Classic Space sets and recreated 6927 All-Terrain Vehicle in 2014 (see here, here, here and here), I just thought the video was super cool.

I want to build it to my kid!!! I was love at first sight. [MOC] Lego Ideas Space Contest Entry – Lego Space FLIP The Brick Over

My Lego Space moment is when Lego Brick first meets Outer Space and Classic Space was born. This year is the 40th Anniversary of Classic Space. FLIP the brick over to reveal additional brick and plate pieces that can be combined with the original building bricks to build a Classic Space Station. Both the red and white space minifigs were the first to go into outer space. It is both a commemorative set and a playset. I think this will make a very nice gift set for fans of Classic Space, both young and old. Please vote here if you like the idea. Thanks. -

A LUG member challenged people to build a micro lego set like the brickset competition. As a fan of the Robot Command Center, I felt I had to do that. I don't have flicker or instagram. I haven't decided if I will join to enter the contest. All the vehicles except the flyer dock into the robot command center.

What are the odds Lego releases another line that coincides with their Classic Space theme? I would love to see more of that blue and yellow spaceships and bases. Just curious. Sorry if that has been asked before on here, I'm a newer member. Edit: They do show love to the series since they had DLC for a recent Lego game based on the theme

35 years ago LEGO Classic Space 6980 Galaxy Commander was released. So I decided to rebuild this set. But something went wrong … hmm, maybe not a good idea if a trainhead who prefers trains in 7- or 8-wide starts building Classic Space sets ;-) But now enjoy some pics … … and some more over at flickr

PLAYING IN SPACE SINCE 1978 by Cristiano Grassi, su Flickr Have you ever wondered how our Spacemen Heroes could travel for almost 40 years through space without getting older or bored to death? Here’s your answer. For forty years our heroes have been playing with LEGO bricks! I was reorganizing some minifigs when I found a spaceman that I used to play with when I was a child, having him live the most amazing adventures. And I started wondering “He’ll be 40 in a little while, what’s his secret?” So, I imagined him, together with all his travelling companions, playing with a LEGO Space base for forty years. Maybe it’s true that playing with LEGO bricks keeps you young. What do you think about it? Do you find it new? Interesting? Creative? I had never seen something like this before and it's one of the reasons I've launched the project on LEGO Ideas. Another one is to see our beloved Classic Space minifig come back, or, why not, maybe even a few themed sets could come back. This project could act as a springboard. This train was created for the Brick Model Railroad OcTRAINber contest. Rarely seen on the lunar rails is the classic Space Train. This 69 stud long locomotive is an all-in-one train setup for transporting and launching missiles. Up front is the engineer’s compartment with full computer support to enable one man operations. Behind him is the electrical cabinet with satellite communications dish (PF receiver and AAA battery box). After the transformer is the crew compartment (roof opens for ease of access). Designed for comfort, it includes a bunk, microwave, and small pantry cabinet. Besides the creature amenities, it has two workstations. The right side wall console is primary satellite and orbital management while the aft console is for missile operations. Separated from the crew by a duratanium firewall is the missile bay. Due to the need to launch missile from any location to reach the desired orbit, the train itself is designed as the launch platform. When the top hatch opens, the missile is raised to launch position while doors on the side open up to allow the hot gasses to escape. The locomotive is capable of carrying one missile with satellite payload at a time. Behind the missile storage area is the power reactor, defensive plasma cannon, and thrusters. The plasma cannon turret can rotate 270 degrees around and the barrel can elevate to 80 degrees. The main engines provide the majority of the thrust while cruising the lunar landscape. The Swoosh 69 studs long, Power Function equipped, capable of handling R40 curves, and the lights turn on too! Benny would so approve.

Hello, This is more of a seeking of ideas rather than a straight up statement. But I'm curious if anyone could provide some more ideas as to why the 497/928 Galaxy Explorer is far more ubiquitous than the 6980 Galaxy Commander? Being the first flagship of course will always make it #1 it seems, but that being put aside, is there anything else that earns it almost all the attention on neo classic space builds, the Lego Movie, etc? It seems with Pirates, there is more of a 45-55 split in terms of the Skull's Eye Schooner vs the Black Seas Barracuda. Of course, a Lugnet rating of 94 for the Galaxy Explorer vs 93 for the Galaxy Commander doesn't show a huge bias, but it just seems that 6980 is missing out sometimes. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Hi, below you'll find my first custom build in about 25 years. I wanted to build this iconic starfighter using only parts from the classic space repertoire up until 1987. I especially like how the foldable foils turned out. There is certainly room for improvement, especially when considering the engines. The nose could use some tweaking as well. MK II is going to be a bit larger in order to accommodate a minifigure and a prototype is sitting on my desk. Unfortunately the folding mechanism is too weak for the increased wingspan, so I will have tinker with this a bit. Anyway, I hope you like it.

I am posting my review of the unloved Lego 1593 in hopes of generating a discussion/debate about the merits (or lack thereof) of this set. Please post your comments. There is no wrong side to take. Nobody's Favorite But Mine I previously reviewed this set and now my feelings about it have solidified, as if I added fiber to my diet. I know it is a bizarre and ungainly craft, but it looks awesome sitting next to the 6842 aka Small Space Shuttle Craft aka Inspection Spacecraft (I thought it was Shuttle Craft) and the 6929 aka Starfleet Voyager aka Starfleet Voyager. Is anyone else confused by the Lego Group's naming conventions across multiple languages? In this case, they decided it was easier not to name it at all, but I digress. I enclosed the gaps in the upper cockpit with trans dark blue 1x4 bricks, which makes a world of difference. The 1593 is no weirder than other sets (I'm talking to you, Robot Command Center) and the play value is high based on the docking rover and the previously mentioned (in another review) "space age washing machine". The set works decently if you compare it to its donor sets from 1981 and 1982, instead of to its actual contemporary, the mighty 6980 Galaxy Commander (the pinnacle of Lego technology in 1983). Although routinely critiqued as the worst possible combination of its component parts, I respectfully disagree, as you will soon see below, and argue that the 1593 is a underrated gem two years in the making. The fact that large quantities of alcohol and/or the future designers of the Pontiac Aztek were likely involved is beside the point. So is the fact that the Classic Space line had moved past its color scheme, leaving it trapped in 1981. Or the fact that it is ugly. I didn't know this set existed when I was a kid, but am confident I would have loved it. What does that say about me? I enjoyed piecing it together from spare parts, but I decided I wanted the original directions, so I paid too much for a complete set, minus the box, unfortunately. All of the bad reviews from the web, to include this site, have given the 1593 a massive inferiority complex and incredibly low self esteem, so I intend to do something about it. Think about how you would feel if you were constantly being told you were the worst person in the world...ever. Imagine if you were a movie worse than Time Bandits (That "Time Bandits" set that was ranked higher, I mean less low, than this one in another review looks atrocious, by the way. I think he meant the Time Cruisers Time Tunnelator, but Time Bandits was a terrible movie, strengthening my analogy). Imagine if the only way to identify you was with a few numbers, like a prison inmate because your parents didn't care enough to name you (The Persil literature described the 1593 as "Delta Spacecraft with Survey Vehicle..." which sounds very Legoland Classic Spacey, but didn't stick). Or if you were advertised on the back of a laundry detergent box for L9.95 (About $13.00 in U.S currency) when the Starfleet Voyager went for $15.00. Imagine if you were "only available in Europe" (Canada too??) and never given a chance to travel to one of the largest Lego markets in the world and that the members of that market didn't even know about you until relatively recently. Does this sound like a pleasant existence? Welcome to the 1593’s world… To help heal my set’s wounded psyche and enable it to realize that it is beautiful on the inside, I am going to use my extra parts to create a variation of this alternate build: Now that is hideous. I love it. Uh-oh, here we go again... For those of you who bash the 1593, I’m not saying you are wrong, but go build something! That is the beauty of Lego, if you don't like it, make it into something you do like. I propose the below picture as one option to remedy your heartburn with this set. (Again, the digestive system analogies). At the risk of offending some readers, an even more obvious solution is not to buy the set in the first place if you feel negatively about it. For the 1 to 2 other people out there, aside from me, who love this set, the best way to describe it is "business in the front, party in the back". As such, I humbly complete my review of the Legoland 1593 Space Mullet. Now it has a proper name.

S.H.A.D.O. maintenance bay With a large fleet of spaceships and many ground units like the APC mobile, the S.H.A.D.O.* agency needs a modern and well equipped bay. My latest build is the S.H.A.D.O. maintenance bay where the agency's mechanics and engineers can fix and re-fit the Interceptors and possibly the ground units. The facility is full of details and it features also a service vehicle, a forklift and an hand pallet truck. Under the wing an operator is welding a support and please take a look at the sparks A little workbench and the column drill press are positioned on the right. Hi all, Thought I'd share my "Nexo Space" scene. I built it a couple of months ago for New Elementary's ongoing "Nexogon" parts festival. True or not, I'd read news that the 'Lego Movie Sequel' was going to be set in space... I surmised that this would therefore be Benny's Space, Classic Space the joyous 'space' of my childhood. The Hab/Lab/Base was a structure I'd adapted from a set of spaceships I'd built as my first submission. I was way too late for Febrovery, but what kind of space scene would it be without a rover of some sort? ...and then there was the question of Benny. He'd need a spaceship! I really do hope that 'The Lego Movie Sequel' is going to be set in Benny's Space, and that the sets include more Classic Space inspired designs for vehicles... new printed classic space logos and trans yellow windscreens please! Also, New Spacemen minifigures in other colours!
