  1. The campaigns for Eslandola’s first Colonial Council have concluded, and the council’s business will be conducted in public in this thread, unless national security merits private deliberations. For the First Cycle, the Colonial Council will meet at the lecture hall in Weelond on the island of An Holli in the Sea of Storms. The hall has been renamed Colonial Hall to honor this momentous occasion. Eslandola’s Admius Legistrad, the leader of the Colonial Council, is Román Esteban Fontonajo, Mayor of Nova Terreli and Governor of the island of Nellisa. The delegations representing the colonial regions and the trade companies are made up of three representatives each. The East Trade-Wind Company is represented by: Colonel Brickinson, adventurer extraordinaire; George, the brains of the ETWC; and Alberto da Pontelli, Mayor of Pontelli. The Merchant’s Colonial Trading Company is represented by: Willem Guilder, Eslandola Secretary of Trade; Aaron van der Meede, attorney and Weelond town council member; and Captain Philip Janszen of the Far Horizon. The MAESTRO Trade Company is represented by: Jerome Monezterrell, Mayor of Fuerto Unido; Captain Lamar Evercrees of the Santiago; and Farrucio Paraja, naval architect extraordinaire The Sea of Storms Region (An Toli, An Holli) is represented by: Colonel Oystridge, Mayor of Bardo; Victor Servadac of the White Glove Order; and Marquis Alkurda, scholar of science and medicine. The Sea of Thieves Region (Nelissa, Berreli, Ferro Azure, Torrach Bonn, Isla Philippe) is represented by: Román Esteban Fontonajo (the Admius Legistrad is allowed to simultaneously hold a regular seat in the council); Raphael Fontonajo, Román’s uncle, a scholar; and Joaquin Seramon Fontonajo, Román’s 2nd son, an explorer and adventurer. The Prio Sea Region (Isla de la Victoria, Otoño, La Sombra) is represented by: Lord Maximilian Damaximus, CEO of MAESTRO; Sir Yohannes Ethiximus, Mayor of Trador; and General Samu The Dragon, MAESTRO General of Prio Troops. No one ran to represent the Independent traders of Eslandola, so those three seats are vacant this cycle. Thus begins democracy in the Brick Seas. The First Cycle of the Colonial Council of Eslandola is now in session.
  2. Jerome Monezterrell, Eslandola's Secretary of the Navy, was in the office of his chief naval architect, Farrucio Paraja. The Oscuridad had sunk in a storm in October, and a sistership needed to be commissioned. But Paraja could not find the plans! Paraja was frantic as he searched for his plans of the magnificent xebec. "Calm down, Farrucio," said Monezterrell. "Calm down!? How can I calm down? One of my masterpieces has gone down, and now I can't find the plans!" cried the architect. "I'm sure they're here somewhere," offered Monezterrell. "And you have the model right here..." "Hah! That model is practically useless. The Oscuridad was a work of art!" Paraja rambled on, and Monezterrell opted to stay silent for a bit. Finally, the plans were found. "Ah, filed under M, for Masterpiece!" exclaimed the architect. Monezterrel tried not to let Paraja see him roll his eyes. It was a magnificent ship, but still... "Yes, very good Farrucio. See that the shipyard gets them right away." Paraja's spirit had brightened. "Yes, yes. The Oscuridad II will restore my art to the seas! ..." Paraja continued to talk to himself as Monezterrell left the architect's office as quickly as possible. ---------- My apologies if I have disparaged Legostone's characters in any way, but the Oscuridad was his ship, so I felt his characters should be involved in the required sistershipping build. I hope my story simply conveys that it is a gorgeous ship.

    Toes Up!

It's been a while since Guy's renown Uncle has appeared on the scene. But don't imagine that he's not been busy! Far from it! Uncle has been occupied in using the best agricultural skills of the Brick Seas to breed the largest size of palm tree yet! Of course, such a beautiful palm tree couldn't go to waste! Guy's Uncle did a little snooping around the account sheet... and got a hold of a certain someone's minion. He also sent a nice note to Countess Agnes Mesabi, asking if she wouldn't be present at an interactive demonstration. She was kind enough to agree. Not only had Uncle grown the largest palm tree in the Brick Seas, but he had also developed a brand new, simplified way to hang people by their toes. After tying the person's toes securely to a hefty rope, Uncle got a strong sailor to toss an empty bucket attached to the other end over the top of a palm tree. Then the sailor climbed the tree and began to drop stones into the bucket. This was something of a slow process, but it got done eventually. Agnes Mesabi watched in admiration... until the sailor started to tie her own toes... "What?!? You can't do this!" "You were in the red last month," Uncle responded. "Me? That was my husband!" "All the same." And so the process was promptly repeated. But fortunately for the poor hangees, a messenger ran to Uncle up just as they were struggling. "Sir! The Colonial Council is considering implementing a MRCA tax on..." "What?!?!? A MRCA tax? I must register my protest instantly!" And Uncle dashed off, faster than anyone had ever seen him run before, and before the messenger even got a chance to say, "on Oleon." Thereupon the messenger and the sailor good naturally helped Agnes and the minion to descend, considerably ruffled in temper, but unhurt in body. That's all for now, I'm in a powerful hurry - sorry the pictures aren't quite up to par, but it rained all day!
  4. One of the signature sights of the Weelond coast are the windmills built on a low grassy ridge, taking full advantage of the stiff breeze blowing in from the Sea of Storms. Here is one of those windmills, cleverly designated "Grist Mill #1" in the city ledgers.. Specifically, it is a post mill with an open trestle design. The grist mill grinds wheat into flour. It looks like several bags of flour are ready for delivery to the city market. The wagon driver takes time to give his horse a treat. His assistant doesn't look too pleased to be loading all the bags of flour into the wagon himself. Sheep commonly graze in the area, when they aren't grazing beneath the bastions of nearby Fort Weelond. The goat appears to prefer the wildflowers. Some more pics: --- I finally found the time to do some building! I wanted to try out the siding style Ayrlego used on one of his builds not too far back. There is a small gap at the top of the siding, and I had trouble with the hinges keeping the wall straight, but I'm happy with the result. I also wanted to represent the open trestle work realistically, and after a lot of experimentation, found something I'm very happy with. The sails turn, and the mill turns on the post as well. As for the terrain, I wanted to get more of a slope effect. It's not quite how I pictured it when I started, but I believe I used 99% of all the green plates I own! The sheep roaming free is common for the time period; fences were used to keep the animals OUT of yards, not in. That was something I wanted to portray in a build, and this was a perfect opportunity. As usual, all C&C welcome.
  5. Octoberfest : The One Drink ! Apple Cider for all ! During Weelond Octoberfest, The MAESTRO Trade Company invested in a small beverage commerce in order to sell its famous Apple Cider. Now the tavern is open and has reach record sales during the Octoberfest festivities ! A very good start for the company ! The advertising in front of the tavern was probably for something in here. This is what we can read : "One drink to rule them all, One drink to find you, One drink to bring them all, and in tipsiness bind you" "Apple Cider !" Probably the epicness of this slogan made raise the sales at this record. The crowded street in front of the tavern is a good illustration of its success : Will be licensed as a small commerce in Weelond. C&Cs are welcome, thank you !

Asma April, Mayor of Pontelli has decreed that more troops are required to protect the city. (The platoon has been registered.)
  7. Well it is that time of the year again - the festivities in Weelond are in full swing!!! Schoolmaster Elliot from the 'Red School' takes some of his current pupils out into the streets to witness some of the festivities (and warn against excessive drinking....) There are many sights to see, staff from the nearby tavern deliver beverages to the revellers. A street performer from a far away land charms a deady cobra with his flute playing, a baker sells loafs of fresh bread and some Eslandolan musketeers keep order in the streets. -------- Able to be licensed as a medium property - could be either commercial or artisan... @Capt Wolf let me know which you prefer for Weelond's development!

    Remembering

Two hundred and sixty years ago today Consort Utur the Soulcatcher of the Crahaish neh Triuri was bloodied upon the field of battle. As the story goes, his blood fueled the battle rage that united the disparate peoples that would one day become Eslandola in common cause. A remarkable event worth remembering. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today Camilla Isobel la Reiy, third cousin to the King, attended the Day of Blood ceremony in Trador. Maudlin thoughts, and quite a bit of uisge, saw her leave the city behind. Out among some stones that only a few researchers have bothered to study, Camilla walks to try and clear her head. Her left hand is still covered in the simulated blood from the body of the man who acted as the Man of Days. Her right hand holds a goblet with only sip of uisge left. Downing the last of her drink, Camilla heads back to her lodging, leaving the stones to their own remembrances. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just a quick vig to mark the Day of Blood.

    BoBS CMF - Series 7

Hello guys ! After having seen those previous brilliant BoBSCMF Series, I thought it would be fun to build one myself. So here is my humble attempt to follow the BoBS CMF train. The BoBS CMF Serie 7 : Let me introduce the characters : The Juniper war veteran : "Show them no fear... Show them no pain..." One of the pride of Oleon is to parade with many flags, fanals, and "cotes d'armes" like they say in their language. This old veteran warrior have seen many of his comrades fall during the Juniper War and now is honouring them every year on the day of the "Mémoire" by hoisting his batallion flag. The Oleon Ship boy : "Seventh son of a seventh son" A poor child from a numerous family. He had no choice but entering at the service of a ship captain to earn his food. It was this life of servitude or a life of danger as a pirate. The Colonist : "A Brave new world... In a brave new world..." Oleon is not only a Navy power, but is also claiming land in the new world. It is by sending many groups of such colonists the Blue Realm is hoping to conquer land. The Corrington trader : "No more lies..." It is something to encounter an Eslandola merchant but a Corrington Trader can be more efficient and could earn good benefits from nearly anything thanks to their new techniques in economic science. The naturalist : "Caught on spiders web..." She is from a good family and tryed to go for adventure. But Adventure comes with little beasts and annoyances on the same way she wasn't expecting. The Royal guard : "We're blood brothers..." One of the most selected guards in all Corrington, this guy is the Elite of the Elite. The Eslandolan navigator : "I've seen the Ghosts of navigators..." This Navigator from the MAESTRO fleet is one of the finest you can encounter. His skills allowed his ship to sail safely and quickly between many dangerous waters. The Scholar : "Age of innocence" This young scholar is freshly entering in the ETWC to study the magic of Nature. He is secretly wishing to encounter hihs idol, George da Pontelli, the intelligent monkey ! The Mercenary : "Pay to kill, die to loose..." This skilled soldier is hired by the MCTC to protect their cargoes well packed in their warehouses. But, is this necessary ? Just to protect some cotton balls ? The Lady pirate : "Just another way the wild wind blows" She has sailed to many lands ands cut many throats. You should avoid her ! The Pirate Captain : "The wicker man" Despite his classical aspect with even a parrot, this skilled captain is able to empty your pockets in no time... The pirate cook : "Die with your boots on" What would be life on board without a cook ! Well, with this one, you should be warned that eating his meal could lead you to your instant death... The Shipmaker : "We are pleased to be yelled..." A wood plank and a hammer and this artisan can make all your repairs ! And for a good price ! The banana farmer : "Hey la banana... hey la banana..." The Ténotclaxcans are well known for their excellent bananas ! This made their pride, and even in the court of Corrington, their fruits are praised. The Alexport negociant : "The man who would be king" In Isla de Romantica, there are trading companies in development which are ready to sell and buy many products. This spirits negociant is one of the bests, and it is rumoured he could be richer than the Archduke of Alexport ! The Mardieran soldier : "Pashendale" This soldier miraculously escaped from Isla de Medio alive ! During the last battles he saw his company decimed and had to run through a ship from Nova Malto. Now he is safe and is waiting for his revenge... Here it is ! Hope you'll like it ! C&Cs are welcome !
  12. The best thing about being a merchant was returning home to your most valuable assets with reassurance that the trade have gone well, and the family will survive another stormy period (I don't know if it is monsoons, or fall/winters in this region, but whatever the equivalent of that is). Three of the many refurbished residences in Puerto Desafio. I tried to make 3 different styles of buildings (Dutch/spanish, German/Suisse, French/Italian -ish), 3 different roof techniques and some training on groundwork/paths. I am trying to improve my quick build skills for buildings, and my overall groundwork, so C&C welcome :) I'll see if I manage to get some better pictures when it is daylight, and when this flu stops bothering me. I will license as 3 separate small residences (built on one 16x32 and one 16x16 base). Edit. More pictures:
  13. The Lady Hawk To explore further to the Brick Seas, Felipe de la Manzana purchased a rapid Brig of War on the Elisabethtown Shipyards. In this new Era of Sailing and exploration a brand new -and well armed- vessel is welcome to protect Felipe's and MAESTRO's interests, in particular with its line of heavy carronades. The vessel is mainly designed to rapid recon missions and to escorts smaller merchant vessels. With this new ship, Felipe is hoping the old Raennette II will be well protected. Hi guys ! I am back with MRCAs in this new Era II to try out the new rules ! Adventures seem so attractive ! I cannot resist... Well, the Lady Hawk will not run on adventures, I will send The Brickwall Frigate instead. And I am keeping my old free Raenette ship in this new Era. I am keeping the Crowned Pigglet in dock this time, and will probably not license it for the moment. I hope it doesn't bother anyone and that my ships will have better luck than in Era I So the ship will be licensed as a class 3 Brig of War : Name Class Cost Stats Range Maneuver Firepower Crew Cargo Hull Total The Lady Hawk 3 200 15 3 3 4 2 0 3 15 If you look closely to the Lady Hawk, you'll notice it is a strongly Eslandolanised Armada Flagship. I made the rigging simplier than my previous ships, to stay on the old feeling vibe. I added some length and equiped it with a motor ! Yes ! A MOTOR ! I decided to mount this ship on old blue train tracks and to make it run around an island at BMA this year in Belgium ! The ship is here, ready to run, and functilonal ! On the other hand, the island is not totally ready. You'll see it when ready ! Hope you'll like it ! C&Cs are welcome !
  14. Governor Guilder sat at his desk filling out paperwork. As Eslandola's Secretary of Trade, he shared responsibility with Secretary of the Navy Monezterrell on various bureaucratic duties. "So much work to do with the naval reorganization" he thought to himself. "Thank Sol and Luna that Governor Monezterrell has been on top of his duties." Guilder scratched in an extra 'en' in 'La Raya Venenosa.' "I always have trouble with that ship name" he mused. "Yes, Monezterrell has done excellent work. Now I just have to submit the paperwork to the accountants. Supporting a fully functional navy is expensive business, but the trade routes must be secure." Guilder added up his figures. "Hmmm, yes ... ok, that looks right. Now to get this off to the treasury and disbursements..." His thoughts trailed off as he concluded the task.

When he saw playing some MAESTRO soldiers soccer at their camp in Malto, he had the genius idea to organise: The New Terra Soccer Cup, the first soccer tournament in the new world! Soccer is a very popular sport for soldiers who had to kill time while on duty and many of those soldiers are starting to mis the little competitions they held. Lord Maximilian Damaximus started building a playing field just outside the walls of Trador, accompanied with a small tribune. Everyone is welcome! Every settlement, captain, organisation, militia, crew, ... can send a squad to Trador to participate in this wonderfull Soccer tournament! --- Gamerules & information --- Feel free to ask if there are more questions or remarks! 16. In the war for Isla De Medio many members of the Brickwall family lost their lives. While many monuments have been built in the Prio Seas, not much has been done to remember them in the Sea of Thieves. Starting with Elysabethtown, more monuments will be erected. This one is a bit different from the others - to remember how many of them were lost, we decided to have an everchanging Statue. Every day, some guards will change out the headgear and potentially weapon of this statue, to show that there wasn't just a single hero. Here you can see the daily ritual; off course with a bunch of visitors observing the change.
  17. Here is my contribution to Brickwall Memorial Park! Located as it is, in the port city of Fuerte Unido, the park offers a wonderful view of the Fuerte Unido lighthouse, known among residents as the Seaweed Point Lighthouse, or just "The Seaweed," when they're talking fast. This name, of course, comes from the strange orange seaweed that can be found on the lighthouse rock and the rocky beaches near it during certain seasons of the year. Not only is the strange seaweed and the lighthouse itself an attraction, but an ancient gnarled tree, somehow finding sustenance on the rocky beach itself, has proved a marvel to many visitors. This area of the park is rather retired and therefore often solitary; but it's not unlikely to become a prime spot in the years to come, considering the excellent view it has to offer. The full build: This would have been fun to build, if I hadn't left it for such a last minute. But I couldn't help it, my rock pieces were tied up until just yesterday. Trying out the orange for seaweed was enjoyable nonetheless, I took inspiration for it and the lighthouse itself from the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse in Argentina. And I found some random pictures of trees growing out of rocks, so that isn't such an imaginative stretch. C&C welcome!
  18. Willem Guilder had hoped to return to Weelond after the Malto peace talks were concluded, but he found that activity on Isla de Victoria and the surrounding islands kept requiring his attention. Among those activities was the inaugural New Terra Soccer Cup on Trador. Guilder recruited the best soccer players he could find from the ranks of the Weelond regiment stationed on Isla de Victoria, and he sent word back to Weelond for legendary coach Patch Verlander to meet him in Trador. When Patch finally arrived (and Guilder was fortunate that the entry deadline had been delayed, or else Patch wouldn't have made it), Guilder gathered the team in the Green Door Pub and introduced them to their coach. Ol' Patch had some interesting coaching theories, including practicing with a pineapple instead of a soccer ball ("If you can kick a pineapple, you can kick a soccer ball!") and throwing broken bottles at players to keep them on their toes. The team doesn't look so sure about their coach's methods, but they're ready to compete in the Soccer Cup! --- Will be licensed as a small artisan. All C&C welcome.
  19. One of the first structures in Brickwall Memorial Park, once you are through the entrance gates, is the bell tower attached to the new Fuerte Unido city administration building. The bell rings every hour, symbolically spreading the message of freedom, prosperity, and cultural exchange, and as a reminder of the Brickwall family's sacrifice in the war with Mardier. Small citrus trees, native to the southern coast of the island, have been planted around the building. It is expected that patrons of the park will be free to pick fruit from these trees, but these newly planted trees are not yet bearing fruit, so this young lady has stopped to smell the flowers... ... and perhaps has met a friend. The caretaker of the bell tower takes a moment to get some fresh air and waves to park patrons below. One more view of the bell tower... All C&C welcome.
  20. Brickwall Memorial Park in Fuerte Unido, on Isla de Victoria (formerly Isla de Medio), is Eslandola's memorial to members of the Brickwall family who fell during the war with Mardier. The entrance is marked by two large white marble pedestals. The pedestals stand astride the Avenue of the Brickwalls, and each also includes a pedestrian archway. Each pedestal is topped by a statue of a heroic member of the Brickwall family. On the left is a statue of Admiral Brickwall Adurnos, who was felled by a cannonball while attempting to break a Mardierian naval blockade. On the right is a statue of General Brickwall Murion, who fell at the Battle of the Bridge of Arbol. A view from above the gate: And a view through the gate to the bell tower in the park (loosely inspired by this scene from my college campus): ------------- All C&C welcome.
  21. The Brickwall Memorial Park : The Tropical Garden As a part of the Brickwall Memorial, just next to the Courthouse there is an area left for the gardens to enjoy peace and tranquility. Through those gardens, the Tropical Garden has been designed to better the knowledge of the local Flora of Isla de Victoria. This is a place to chase some colourful butterflies flying around splendid flower beds. This is also a place to study some strange vegetal species the gardener in chief is commisionned to collect. But it's also a great place to rest and to enjoy its beauty and siting around the Brickwall statue is something the Eslandolan citizens are pleased to do. After this Tropical Garden there is an access to the Greenhouse and a short path is leading to the Flower Garden, also parts of the Brickwall memorial.
  22. Really not much to say here. My small contribution to the Brickwall Memorial Park. Sorry for the delay of the post, I misinterpreted my fellow Eslandolans posting process and thought we wouldn't hvae separate threads. Pic has been up on flickr for quite a few days. :-)
  23. One of the most popular places in the Brickwall Memorial Park is the Flower Garden. Very colourfull and romantic, the soldiers residing in Fuerto Unido love to take their girlfriends/lovers/wifes...

    The Bagpipe Factory in Pontelli

Pontelli's Mayor, Lady Asma April, had emphasized the importance of tradition. Hence a new bagpipe factory has opened in Pontelli to produce a famous Eslandolean traditional instrument: the bagpipe. The factory itself is quite large. On a sunny day most workers prefer to carry out their tasks outside the factory buildings. The exact production recipe for bagpipes is, of course, a secret. However, it is clear that wood is required to prepare the pipes. And sheep skins are used to create the bags, which are then painted. The pipes are also painted in black. Hence the saying "I see a brown pipe and I want it painted black." All this is part of Lady Asma's aim to make Pontelli proud again. C&C welcome. (And you will never guess where I spent my holidays )
  25. Amongst the wonders of Brickwall Memorial Park the visitor finds the beautiful Crystal Caves. At several times a day the sun shines into the caves and makes the crystals, stalagtites, stalagmites, andyounameit glitter and explode with light. In any case the Brickwall Memorial Park is the attraction to see when you come to Fuerto Unido! C&C welcome!
