  3. Hi! This MOC is about the most famous battle of American civil war. Learn more about this event: --- I built defensive line which has been extended along Cemetery Ridge to the hill known as Little Round Top by Union corps under the command of Winfield Scott Hancock. --- You can find pictures of a higher quality here! More pictures: Thanks for watching! C&C are welcome!

    Battle of Rorke's Drift, January 22, 1879

In this famous battle from the Zulu War of 1879, British soldiers of B Company of 2nd Battalion, 24th Regiment of Foot, along with a few Natal Native Contingent (NNC) auxiliaries, totaling 150 men, successfully held off repeated intense attacks for 12 hours from a force of at least 3000 brave Zulu warriors led by Prince Dabulamanzi kaMpande. Click on the pictures for more detail: This portrays the first attack on the small station of Rorke’s Drift on the afternoon of January 22, 1879, which concentrated on the hospital and surrounding mealie bag wall. For the build, I wanted to show this amazing historical fight for survival with as much realism as possible and so this is accurate to one foot per LEGO stud. The hospital and wall placement are exactly scale per historical records and from the Osprey Campaign book, Rorke’s Drift 1879. The fight as portrayed here is shown around 4:40pm, only 20 minutes into the conflict. The Zulus have rapidly come in from the north to swing around and attack the entrance to the hospital from the south, while small bands try to force entry from side and rear doors. The mealie bag wall has collapsed in multiple places, and in response Lt Gonville Bromhead and Colour Sergeant Frank Bourne lead a successful bayonet attack on the invaders, driving them back (shown on the picture on the right). 100% LEGO. One of my favorite creations ever, I’ll continue to work on the other half of the station in order to display the entire battle at next year’s Brickfair. My plan is to have the fight for the hospital underway, with the thatch roof on fire, with the British retiring to their biscuit-box, mealie bag and wagon-built wall around the storehouse. Beyond the Brick did an interview for this build at Brickfair Virginia, if interested: Cheers! Gary

    Battle for the Treasure

[pid][/pid] 253C Built for the Jolly Roger Contest on Forbidden Cove. I've been wanting to build a coast scene with cliffs for a while now, the JRC gave me the incentive I needed to finally do it. The pirates had just dug up a large cache of treasure when a Redcoat ship spotted them from the sea. The ship quickly dispatched two rowboats full of soldiers to attack the pirates. Will the pirates be able to successfully defend their new-found treasure? Or will the soldiers capture the treasure for His Majesty? Check out more pictures here: link C&C appreciated
  7. For our second annual US Civil War Collaboration at Brickfair Virginia, we created a large display (4x8 of 32x32 stud baseplates) of the 1864 battle to commemorate the 150th Anniversary. John Rudy, Joshua Brooks, Patrick Taylor and I built 32 modules and invaded them with 179 confederates and 142 Federals: ---Click on the pictures for greater detail--- While we had to compress the battlefield to get the Railroad Cut, Ny Stream, Brock Road and Widow Tap's Farm in, we were very careful to recreate the battle on May 6th, 1864 at 11:00 am, when General James Longstreet sent his Chief of Staff Lt Col Moxley Sorrel and four brigades sneaking along the Railroad Cut to surprise the Federals with a flank attack. All four of us had a great time with this, and got to talk about history to those who otherwise didn't know about it. The display was popular with the public and AFOLs alike at Brickfair VA, and was nominated for the Best Historical award, but lost to another of my builds, the Battle of Rorke's Drift (post to follow soon). Cheers, Gary

    The Blue and The Gray

In preparation for our second annual Civil War Collaboration at Brickfair Virginia, here is an introductory build, a mostly symbolic representation of the struggle between the two sides. Depending on how you interpret the build, there are 7 characteristics included that are symbolic of the real conflict. Can you spot them? For more details, click on the picture. If you are coming to Brickfair Virginia in August, stop by the Civil War collaboration and say hello! Cheers, Gary

    MOC: The Siege of Alesia

Hi there I have to admit that I made this MOC a few months back but did not post it here at the time because I was not then active on Eurobricks. Now that I am active, I thought I might as well share it with you! It’s the first MOC I made following my emergence from my Dark Ages, which roughly speaking, lasted around 15 years. There are a few things I would do differently now but on the whole I am pleased, especially with the Minifigure shots. Anyway, constructive criticism is always welcome. The MOC depicts the turning point in Julius Caesar’s Siege of the Gaulish city of Alesia in 52 BC. In the spring of that year the Gallic tribes once again rose against Caesar, this time under the leadership of Vercingetorix, a skilled leader. Though the Gauls experienced some success early on, over the summer Caesar succeeded in scattering their army. Recognising his tenuous position Vercingetorix chose to avoid further pitched battles, instead retreating to the Mandubii fort of Alesia, from where he sent cavalry to raise a fresh army. Caesar’s response was to embark on a massive feat of engineering whereby he encircled Alesia with two lines of fortification and encamped between them. Food ran short in the fort and in desperation Vercingetorix forced out those unable to fight – the old, the sick, the women and the children. Though they begged to be taken into slavery, Caesar refused their pleadings and rejected by both friend and foe, they starved to death between the Gallic and Roman lines. In September, the Gallic relieving force, estimated to be a quarter of a million strong, arrived at the Roman lines. Both the relieving force and Vercingetorix army flung themselves at Caesar’s fortifications but were repeatedly driven back. Two of the Roman legions were encamped together beneath a hillside to the north of the fort. Recognising this weakness, 60,000 of the relieving troops were moved round the back of hill under the cover of darkness. The following day they launched an attack from above the camp, while the remainder of the force attacked on the plane and Vercingetorix attacked from within. The Gauls on the hillside poured over the fortifications and the thinly spread legionnaires could do little but hold them at bay, using their pila as spears. Meanwhile Caesar had managed to repulse Vercingetorix and the remaining Gauls and rallying his cavalry charged towards the beleaguered camp. Relieved by their general the Romans launched their pila into the Gallic throng and charged. Caught between the legionaries and the cavalry, the Gauls were slaughtered. Recognising the defeat, Vercingetorix surrendered the following day. Many thanks for viewing. MW
  10. This is my Category C entry to Challenge 2. I've been meaning to do a large landscape with lots of tilted plates for a while now. Most of the larger plates are simply resting in place (though they're held there by the stuff around them), the smaller plates by the ruins are all actually attached. As soon as the scouts had reported to Glorfindel that a Black Spire army would be traveling through Skergat Pass, Glorfindel ordered his men to prepare for an ambush. The Mitgardian soldiers were soon concealed along the ridges on both sides of the ravine. Once the Black Spire army was well into the pass, Glorfindel signaled for the attack. Pouring down the sides of the ravine his men had both the advantages of surprise and the higher ground. Without figs: More pictures can be seen here: link C&C welcome

    Defense of Little Round Top

Hello, I'm new to Eurobricks, so I thought I'd start with one of my favorite builds, just to try out the functionality of posting and see if I have everything right. Let me know if I'm messing something up here! This is a historical US Civil War build of the 20th Maine Regiment's defense of a key position during the war's turning point, the Battle of Gettysburg. I built it for the 150th Anniversary of the actual battle, starting it on the anniversary of the very day the action took place. It was part of the Civil War display at last year's Brickfair and won Best Historical MOC for 2013. For the full story of this action, click on the image. Thanks for your comments!
  12. Hello, since the other thread is becoming a response to the Call for Arms, I wanted to move the contest thread here. If you have already posted your entry, go ahead and post a link to it here. If you are posting an entry, make sure to link to it here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PART TWO: Bringing the pain We are going to try something new this time around; we are going to have other people “build” weapons of war that will be used in both battles. The builders will build LDD models that we can use the show construction mode on. (Alternatively, a builder could photograph “instructions” to participate in this battle). Then, we will build some of these models for the battles. This is what you have to do: Create a separate thread for your weapon of war, then link it in a post in this thread. The title tag for the LDD contest is {WotB} In your thread you should have a completed picture of the siege weapon. You should have the capability to email us the design or “print” it. (Links to this material in your thread are highly appreciated!) You can add story to your weapon (maybe what company / person built it, etc…) You can also tell us what side you hope will use your weapon (Petera or Dugal’s). Is it a one of a kind weapon that has special properties? Or could there be multiple on the battle field? There are two categories, and each builder can enter both up to three times. The first category is Field Pieces. These will be used at the Battle of the Wither Woods. This battle will most likely take place in a lightly wooded area, but overall very few fortifications will be present on the field. The weapons can range from catapult to ballista, from twirling death machine to cow crusher… the limits are endless, other than it really should not be a siege engine. The second category is Siege Engines. These should be the heavy duty battle machines that are designed to take down walls, assault fortresses, and get men in close to fight the enemy. The siege engines will be used later on in the year at the Battle for Eastgate. One caveat -- the portion of the battle portrayed at the end of summer will be an invasion from the sea... So, any siege weapons that fold up nicely, may have the upper hand in the judging. (MAY HAVE) Specifications: Since we are going to try and build these, we are going to set a 400 piece limit. You don’t have to use 400 pieces, you can use fewer. We just won’t be able to build anything larger than 400 pieces. The one thing I do not have in my collection is a lot of technic gears and pieces, staying away from these would increase the chances of seeing your weapon in built form during the battle. However, containing many technic pieces won’t hurt your chance of winning. Just like the call to arms, anybody in the Guilds of Historica can participate. Deadline: Field Pieces: May 15th Siege Engines: July 30th The winner of each category will be forever known as Artillery Captain of Eastgate or Siege Commander of Eastgate

The 2nd Battle of Devil's pass.

My latest build for what was formerly known as LCC. (Now LoR) Full story (And eventually more pictures) on Flickr. Or, if you're lazy and don't want to follow the link, here's the full story. The horde of loathsome Outlaws had gained even greater numbers than before! The evil baron of the queen, Mathieux Deschamps, deemed the extra reinforcements necessary if he was to fully subjugate the unruly, rebellious Loreesi to their ever-patient sovereign. They had just crossed into the area traditionally claimed as the border of Loreos, when they heard a low rumble, not from their own feet. The entire force stopped in consternation. Then suddenly, the banner of the old King appeared over the next rise of sand dunes! Then a rider on horseback... No, a knight! The gleam of armor could be seen! Then more and more knights! Hundreds! Thousands! The horde of Outlaws was utterly shocked to see a enormous army of the terrible armored knights of Loreos arrayed before them! It was then the Outlaws began to seriously question their leader's leadership abilities... "Baron! You said the Loreesi armies were disbanded!!" The Baron's eyes widened in terror. "They are!! Or they should be!!" "Well I see a big un-disbanded army there! What are we going to do!?" "We'll fight them, you cowards! They are the rebels now!" "Wait a minute there! We didn't sign up for an even battle with armored lancers! You promised us lots of plunder and booty with little or no danger!" As the arguments of the Outlaw soldiers and their leader escalated, the Loreesi leader strode forward. "I DEMAND PARLEY!" One of the Outlaws recognized the man whose voice had just echoed over the battlefield. The perfect hair! The ever-present grin! The famous emblem on his shield! It could be none other than the "Bane of all Outlaws"! "IT'S MARK OF FALWORTH!!!" Stunned silence hung in the air. Then the Outlaws all simultaneously cried- "WHHAAAT!?!?!?!?" "B-But, we killed him!" "No, the dragon got 'em!" The Baron was just as confused as his men. "No! No! I killed him with a boulder!" The Loreesi knight called out again. I AM MARK OF FALWORTH!! AND I DEMAND PARLEY!! One of the Outlaws nudged the Baron. "Well Mathieux? Aren't you goin to talk to em?" "NO I'm not going to talk to him! It's probably a trap!" One of the biggest outlaw warriors rebuked the baron. Oh, you're going to talk to him! Unless you want us to hand you over to the Loreesi as a plea bargain! A chorus of assent ran through the Outlaw army. Mathieux had no other choice. The evil baron rode out to meet the Loreesi leader. Mathieux Deschamps had seen Mark of Falworth several times before, and there was no question in his mind that this was the real Mark of Falworth. The happy grin was a dozen times more terrifying than usual. Mathieux, despite being almost lost for words, was the first to speak. "How?..... How could you be?..." "Alive? Haha!" "The dragon they speak of....?" "He mussed up my hair. So I had to kill him." The baron swallowed hard. "You can never win, Mathieux. You're doomed to failure!" "Is that so?" "It's an absolute certainty, I'm afraid." "And why is that, Mark?" "You've made me your enemy! and now I've come for you and all who would stand by you!" "Well I hate to disappoint you. But my army is still larger then yours! You won't be able to stop us!" "Your ugly rabble could hardly stand a good strong breeze, let alone the mightiest warriors in the world! These knights have marched to the gates of Stonewald and back! They've trained all their lives for war, and have been battling ever since! You have no chance whatsoever!" "A fine speech! But it will do you no good! In the name of the gracious queen I demand you to surrender! Or I declare you a Rebel and an Outlaw!" "In the name of justice I demand you to surrender!" "Bah! You and your "Justice" are the scourge of the land!" "Likewise. Now, surrender unconditionally or suffer the consequences!" "Never! You'll have to kill me before I surrender to you dogs!" "Good! Now I shall have the distinct pleasure of destroying you utterly, you beslubbering beef-witted coxcomb!" And with that, each went back to his force. The charge was sounded and the battle began! ------------------------------------ To be continued!
  14. Before I start, here is some background info: I got the LDD files for these ships back in 2011 from my Brother. He didn't built them, and can't remember where he got them. I have since remade the battleship three times and the sub twice. Here is HMS Timberwolf (the battleship )and the HMS Gray Ghost. (the submarine) The battleship features four guns and a two smokestacks, while the submarine has two propellers and is almost 100% built sideways. ...and yes, the guns do rotate! This symbol goes on the battleship on a flagpole. This one goes on the submarine. The wolves from Legends of Chima are going to run these ships. Wakz will be the venerable Captain of the Battleship. (known as the Timberwolf) While Winzar is the slightly unhinged captain of the submarine. (called the Gray Ghost) This fleet will be called the Wolfpack... and no, this isn't the entire fleet! (By the way: These last four pictures are from Bricklink!) LDD file for all that is in the main pic: http://www.mocpages....1395667879m.lxf Comments, Questions, & Critics welcome!

    [MOC] Wizard Fight

The battle between good and evil is being fought again! A peaceful wizard, minding his own business, is begin attacked by this... monster! A man full of evilness and jealousy... After the 'good' wizard slept with his wife, who was tired of her man constantly being busy with potions and magic, he wants to take revenge on him! Overall MOC MOC with blue sky background MOC in bird's eye view This is my first ''MOC'' uploaded to Eurobricks. I know it's nothing special but I just had to post this as it looks a fun build to me C&C is always welcome.
  17. Hello Once again an entry for the MELOs on MOCpages. My category was to interpret the following quote: “Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn!" I didn't want to build the hundredth Helm's Deep so i build the battle of Erebor from the Hobbit. There isn't an interpretation of Peter Jackson so far. That allowed me to build my own one. Highlight of building was definitely the dwarf monument. Explore more details on MOCpages! I hope you like it! Jonas

  19. Mark of Falworth

    (LCC) The End...

Mark of Falworth trudged through the plains of Dreadmoor. His friends had been caught and brutally killed by his cruel enemies. Mark had barely escaped alive, and these traumatic last few days had left him very shaken. But still, he pressed on! He would reach the mysterious destination... Mark scanned the skies with a wary gaze. The dragon might still be after him, and a large open plain is not the best place to fight a huge aerial beast... Mark's well-trained ears soon picked up a distant sound... It roared like thunder, yet it never stopped. Curious as to what could be causing the noises, Mark clambered up the next hill... Mark gasped in horror at the terrible sight! A gargantuan horde of loathsome, despicable OUTLAWS! But what was worse was that the colors and emblems of the evil tyrant Galainir were distributed widely among them! This enormous pack of rogues was in the employ of the false Queen! They were heading North as Mark was heading South! They must be on a destructive route to Loreos and the rest of Roawia! Mark then realized they weren't heading due North, they were heading straight towards HIM! Yes, Mark had been spotted as soon as he had espied them... Quite adverse to fighting alone what must be upwards of ten thousand men, Mark looked round for some advantage or means of escape. But there was no tree or rock or anything whatsoever to hide in or among. He could run, but the lighter equipped brigands could outdistance him by paces... In short, Mark was Doooomed! Mark resolved then and there to fight to the bitter end. He had nothing to lose! He would give his contemptible adversaries a battle to remember forever! With a broad smile on his face and his trusty sword raised high, he burst forth with his nation's famous war-cry- FOR THE GLORY OF LOREOS!!! (LCC) The End... by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr (LCC) The End... by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr (LCC) The End... by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PART 2 2When we last left Mark of Falworth, he was facing off against a horde of loathsome Outlaws! The first warriors who came within reach of Mark's sword were speedily cut down. Mark charged furiously into the great mass of men! Mark slashed and chopped and parried and stabbed in an uncontrollable surge of adrenaline and rage! After a dozen had fallen before his sword, the Outlaws paused in sheer disbelief. Fighting 12 opponents at a time, he still drove them back and held his own! The respite was momentary, as the Outlaws were burning for vengeance against years of disastrous crusades (Some instigated by Mark). More and more fell, and Mark was thought to have fallen dead more then once, but then he would erupt from a pile of struggling bandits and rain down his deadly blows faster then ever! For 7 long hours the carnage raged, and nigh a hundred Outlaws had died trying to bring down the knight of the everlasting smile and perfect hair (which still remained perfect despite the intense action). But even the bravest cannot fight beyond his own strength, and each wave of opponents was getting harder and harder for Mark to drive back... The Outlaws gathered together shoulder to shoulder for a final rush towards their target. Their war-cries grew stronger as Mark's strength faded. But just before they could deliver the death blows, a tremendous, eardrum-bursting roar shook the entire battlefield! Every warrior stopped and looked to the heavens from whence the rumble came. Lo and behold, a colossal black creature descended on the mass of men. Fangs glistening, enormous wings spreading forth in terrible glory. It was none other then the fearsome dragon Cyricus the Mighty! The great host of Outlaws fled like mice before a lion. The Dragon landed with immense impact, feet away from the exhausted Mark. He had no energy left to run, or even to raise his weapon. His voice had long since dissipated. He looked straight into the jaws of death, and smiled. At last his time had come. The massive claws and teeth shrieked towards him as he fell senseless to the ground... (LCC)The End... (Part 2) by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr (LCC)The End... (Part 2) by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr (LCC)The End... (Part 2) by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr To be Continued... Next year! So this was a fun MOC to make. I really wanted to try out a cliffhanger in a story MOC. For those who don't know what's going on, This is part of a continuing series featuring my LCC character "Mark of Falworth" Oh, and the brown leaves are from Altbricks.com Thanks for viewing and have a great day!

  24. Raising the Dead – Family Heirloom (Community Story Build) Paulos had a long trip back from Mpya Stedor. It was a good party, but the celebration was bitter sweet when he knew what lay ahead. He was on his way back to Queens Cross in order to pick up an item that he had hid there since before the battle. This item, the spear that killed his brother Dugal, was important evidence that he would bring before the Merchants Council at Eastgate to damn his brother Petera for his participation in Dugal’s murder. Petera was now First Lord of Eastgate, the ruler of the city and the controller of its armies and fleet. He was also the CEO of GEAR CO, one of the most powerful trading companies in Historica. Paulos had a tough task ahead of him, but Petera must pay. He arrived at the house of the former noble Lord Pastroo. Pastroo had fought against Paulos at Queenscross, and after the battle, Paulos had him executed for treason. Petera had sent out a warrant for Paulos’s arrest after that, claiming that he had “no authority to murder a high noble.” Paulos knew that he would have to retake the city by force, and he had enlisted Lord DaMaximus and his armies to help him in this task. Currently DaMaximus lay siege to Eastgate’s Old City. Although, not much progress had been made according to reports. Inside the house he was shocked. The two guards that he had left to “guard the house” (They didn’t know the spear was hidden here) were brutally murdered and laying on the floor in the grand hall. Paulos checked under the floor boards and found that the spear was missing! He panicked. At that moment there was a knock on the door to the room. Paulos turned to find a Grelf standing in the door way. “Come in, I must.” He said. “Yesil, I am Yesil, and Paulos Maclean, you are. Yeesssssss.” He introduced himself. Paulos knew a little of the Grelf from what Dugal had briefly mentioned. DSC_0382 by skaforhire, on Flickr “The spear that killed your brother, you have. Masa Of Kaliphlin needs it.” “I am afraid I cannot help, as the spear has been taken from this place, and I do not know by whom.” Paulos Said. The Grelf gave a subtle smirk and start to hum, about a minute later his eyes went wide and he said: “Your brother, Petera, has the spear. Your guards his men killed, and to hide the spear from all who wish to use it he intends. Die, you must retrieve the spear or Dugal will. “ “Dugal is already dead!” Paulos said. Yesil responded, in an almost rehearsed manner, “Death is but a sleep so deep. But of essence time is. For should the soul of the dead this life forget, there can be awakening no more.” “So, what does the spear have to do with Dugal’s resurrection?” Paulos asked. “One of the four ingredients required to bring Dugal back from the next world, the spear is. Obtain it, you must. Paulos sighed. “I am going to need allies.” So it was that Paulos sent messages to the four corners of Historica asking for heroes to come to Eastgate and help him take back his home and find the spear that slayed Dugal. Like the firstand second plot lines, this is a community build. All three plot lines will merge together in an attempt to bring Dugal back from the dead. In this plotline, the builders will be completing MOCs that have to do with the Civil War that is going on within Eastgate. Volunteers will join Paulos’s side in trying to locate the spear within Eastgate. MOCs for this storyline will be more combat oriented, as there are two large armies facing off in this siege. There will be a series of tasks given by me to the volunteers. They will represent missions within Eastgate or its surroundings. Once the task is MOCed, then the builder will receive one point. That point represents how many men the builder will be able to field for the final battle of the siege. Builders will be able to complete many tasks in order to build up their army, but points will not be given by to builds that are considered rushed or incomplete (Judged by Masa and Myself, we will ask a non-participant to be a tie breaker) Of course, the bigger the army, the more glory there is to be had in the final battle of the Siege of Eastgate. I will run that siege similar to how the Battle of Queens Cross was run. Finally, the top three builders with the most points by the end date of this plotline will be asked to build a MOC representing their characters finding the Spear. The three builds will be put up for a GOH-wide vote for the best build. The winner would have bragging rights and be considered a Hero of Eastgate. So what we need is volunteers. I will start giving tasks on the 20th of August, but you can sign up for this plotline as late as September 15th. The first few tasks will be the same for everyone, but those who complete the first three will start to get more customized missions. The end date for this plotline is October15th. I will answer any questions or clarify whatever you need. I hope many of you will join us on this plotline, the first plotline, or the second plotline. Or... All three, there is no limit how many plots you participate in, If you have the time to build for each, go ahead and sign up for all three.
  25. My first entry into The Castle Battle Contest over on flickr! This is a great contest, thanks Mark! Finally, I have the time to post it! Built over a period of several months, this is my largest creation to date. Incorporating lots of my favorite techniques, this was fun to build, and see come together. I am extremely pleased that I had enough light bluish gray bricks to build the gateway and the towers. Aidan Frusher helped with the base, thanks a lot buddy! :D Enjoy! (Story coming later. :D ) Soli Deo Gloria!
