  1. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2014 UPDATE: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi! Instructions for my Snowspeeder model are now available at mocplans.com Instructions are made by Eric Albrecht (Blakbird) and have 125 pages. Model itself has 2191 parts. I'll update this post with rebrickable url later when it's online. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- earlier 2014 update ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, I have updated this model: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2014 UPDATE ends, original first post from now on -> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi. After my first Technic x-wing MOC I'm tryint to build the rebel snowspeeder. (T-47 airspeeder) Speeder will be roughly in the same scale with the x-wing: Here are first photos of the T-47. Feel free to point out anything that looks off. I need to get more light gray parts as I had to use dark grey in wrong places ;D My reference photos show that even the models used in movies have wings in different angles when looked from the rear. I guess I'll use wing angle that fits the best with my parts. My plan is to have two joystick in cockpit. Other one to control the "ailerons" on top of the engines and the other one to control rear "gun". Don't know yet if the cabin hatch should be motorized or not. -drakmin Drakmin's youtube

  5. These two Space Police 1 builds are from Lego Idea Book 260. Some parts that should be black are blue and vice versa but they are 90% true color wise to the idea book. Since Space Police 1 had very few small sets do you think these should have been real sets? Personally I like both builds very much because they look good and fill a void in the Space Police 1 lineup.
  6. Hi all! I made this Galaxy Explorer Ground Base from the leftover parts in set 10497 after building the smallest One Man Space Ship alt build. This is the original: Here's mine: In addition to the command base & comm tower, there's a power station, small landing pad, some craters, a small speeder, and a rover. Command base: Comm tower: Power station: Landing pad and speeder: Rover (which I think is hilarious because the truck/storage bed is under the driver's seat): Anyway, I had a ton of fun building this. Thanks for looking!

  10. #10 - Nova Hunter Nova Hunter is the chief in the Exploriens theme He has a cool mustache and looks like a mature leader. His Explorien uniform with black hands looks awesome too. He was a cool enough character to be included in the LEGO Racers video game. #9 - Bob Bob is one of the first minifigures and is commonly used as a mascot by LEGO. The thing I like about Bob is his classic smiley face. Even though he only appeared in two sets, he is easy to build with classic smiley face, red torso and blue pants. #8 - Baron Von Baron Baron Von Baron (formerly known as Sam Sanister/Sinister, Evil EyeLord Sam Sinister, and Mr. Hates) was the main villain from the Adventurers and Orient Expedition themes. In the Egypt theme he tried to steal the Re-Gou ruby but failed. On Dino Island he tried to steal dinosaurs to open up a theme park. I like his monocle, cool mustache and hook hand. He is an awesome villain. He was also cool enough to be included in LEGO Racers 1 and 2 (though he has both hands in part 2) #7 - Tony Twister and Professor Millennium Tony Twister, alternately known as Baron Bloomberg in the United Kingdom, is a Time Twisters minifigure released in 1997. He is a villain and travels through time along with his twin brother, Professor Millennium, alternately known as Commodore Schmidt in the United Kingdom. I like Tony's mustache, leather hat and black jacket with yellow epaulettes. Millennium has the same cool hat and an awesome goatee beard. I put them here together because they are twins. #6 - Pepper Roni Pepper Roni is the star of the LEGO Island trilogy. He is a young delivery boy who delivers pizza to the citizens of LEGO Island. I like him because he looks like a cool kid. I like his printed hair and pizza torso. #5 - Dr. Cyber Dr. Cyber is one of Timmy's friends from the Time Cruisers theme. He goes back in time with him and collects hats from different times. He has a robot named Robby. He tries to alter the Space-time Continum as little as possible. He was a rocket scientist at NASA. I like his cartoonish eyes, red bow tie and pencil. I also like him because Time Cruisers is my favorite theme. #4 - Dr. Kilroy also known as Dr. Charles Lightning and Professor Articus Dr. Kilroy is a minifigure from the Adventurers theme. He is a brilliant scientist with extensive knowledge of artifacts and archaeology. According to LEGO Mania Magazine, he is Johnny Thunder's uncle. He is cool because of his cartoonish eyes, awesome beard, red bow tie and assortment of outfits featuring a white pith helmet. Plus he hangs out with Johnny Thunder in he most awesome adventures. #3 - Zack Zack (also known as Red Shirted Cowboy) is a Western minifigure released in 1996. He has appeared in seven sets and appears in all the Lego western commercials. Zack is a tough cowboy who helps the Sheriff protect the town from outlaw cowboys. I like him because of his blue jeans, a red button-up shirt, and a brown vest with gold buttons. My favorite thing about Zack is his printed white wavy hair. His head and face are used as the Ice Planet Astronaut. #2 - Johnny Thunder Johnny Thunder is the main protagonist of the LEGO Adventurers theme. He is included in numerous sets as a minifigure in each of the theme's sub-series, often alongside his friends Dr. Charles Lightning and Gail Storm . In addition to all of this, Johnny also appears in seven video games more than any other LEGO character. I like his mustache, hair and hat. He was the LEGO equivalent of Indiana Jones but cooler. #1 - Timmy Timmy was a minifigure who was first released in 1996. He has a pet monkey named Ingo. He has a pet monkey named Ingo He was seen extensively in the Time Cruisers theme until its discontinuation in 1997, and after that he appeared in many FreeStyle sets. Timmy has the best face ever with black hair hanging down, cartoon eyes and even has a nose!!

Galaxy Explorer 10497 is a great set, but...

Let's stablish something before I start typing. I love 10497 and I think it pays homage to the 1979 version. So I'm not saying it was bad, but it could be epic. Here are some highlights to prove my point. 1.- Too many G.E. redesign MOCs. I´ve seen maybe a hundred Galaxy Explorer remakes in the last 5 years, but I saw one in particular reviewed in a youtube channel, before they released the 10497, which had almost the same features and even had retractable landing gear. So for me the 10497 is the perfect Galaxy Explorer MOC. But was something we been seeing for years. 2.- "Too small" remake. 1245 pieces is a lot of pieces for a set, but, if you compare that amount of pieces with 10305 Lion´s Knight castle's 4514 pieces castle "remake", it feels short. Imagine what the designer would be capable of if he had those 3250+ pieces to work with? 3.- Landing pad and base. The achiles heel of 10497. The ship design is magnificent, However, even the designer of the set stated that he had to leave out the base and landing pad. A true shame. 500 more pieces and two 48 x 48 baseplates would made a world of diference. 4.- New trans yellow pieces. We already had a large 13252 trans yellow windscreen from 70816 Bennys spaceship..... also all the other trans yellow pieces in the set had been released previously. Something Classic Space fans are always looking for are new elements in trans yellow color, since is rare Lego Group uses them in sets and even more rare realeases new ones. Let's be honest here, wouldn't you like the set even better if there were 1x4x3 panels or a large curved windscreen never before released in trans yellow? 5.- Shock and Awe factor. The helper droid was a great add on and the best option they had since benny already used the other type of 80s droid. The rocket sleds were a shock and awe add on to the original ship. So I have nothing against those new features, but it could be even more features in it. Ever felt butterflies when entering the toy isle at your local walmart or Kmart back in the 80s the first weeks of january? You didn't knew what to expect form the new Classic Space sets back in the good old days. New features, new designs, new pieces.... That's the problem with the 10497, you already had a prelimilar idea of what to expect and that was the main problem with 10497, I feel the base had more potential to include new features than the spaceship itself: Retractable dome roof landing pad, modular base, maintenance machinery, loading-unloading crane, new color astronaut, minifig, a small blacktron spy vehicle, I can go on. Bottom line, 10497 is a great Lego set, but knowing what Lego designers are capable of creating, it could be even more awesome.

    GAIA-72 TERRAFORMING STATION

Hello, this is my latest Classic Space project, enjoy. You still love Classic Space, but you want more than just remakes of Classic Space sets? You want something new, fresh, never seen before? Here´s your opportunity to promote new futuristic designs for space sets. GAIA-72 TERRAFORMING STATION, is a dome base fully enclosed with everything the space explorers need to survive extraterrestrial environments. Its composed of a 1200 piece dome base (roughly the same amount of pieces of 10497) and a 1100 piece launch port. A perfect addition to any Classic Space collection. If you like it, give it your support and let's hope we can have this on store shelves soon.
  13. Introduction A cut my LEGO teeth on Classic Space. Unfortunately, that has caused irrevocable damage to many of the bricks. One of the very first sets I owned was the timeless classic 497/928 Galaxy Explorer, widely held to be one of the best LEGO sets of all time, and it propelled me into a love affair with Classic Space that far outlasted the shelf-life of the range. As I got older, I started to take more care of my LEGO, and many of my later Space sets are still in pretty good condition. You can see examples of two of the sets in my reviews: 6930 Mission Control Centre (Space Supply Station) and 6928 Mercury Crawler (Uranium Search Vehicle). However, the earlier sets didn't fare so well, and now - thirty years later - it's time to see if I can rejuvenate them. I've already had some success with my 375 Yellow Castle; I hope I can achieve a similar result here, but these sets were played with a great deal more and also spent a long time built and exposed to attic dust. Overview Here's a small selection of my Classic Space collection, rescued from the attic in roughly the state you see here. From this angle, things don't look too bad, apart from the muck, but it doesn't bear up so well to closer inspection. I had in mind that I'd start with 928. Let's take a closer look: The ship itself looks complete, and both baseplates are present, including three of the four spacemen. The little base that comes with the set has long since gone. The printed parts are all there, but the Classic Space logo has lost some of its gold. As you can see, the exposed parts are filthy, and some are discoloured, including what looks like rust on the 2x2 cone. Many of the parts are chewed and battered. There's more filth on the front, and the modified plate with prongs is chewed. Unfortunately, the printed slope is quite badly scratched, and the detail on the lovely planet logo has long since gone (it should look like the logo on the banner above). You can also see here how some of the wedge plates are more discoloured than others. Neither is the ship truly complete: Round on the left side, the grey door is missing, and has been replaced with a blue one. Examples of battered and ill-fitting parts abound here. Some parts are broken: The centre grey tail here has snapped; I had clearly tried to disguise the fact. The other side has the same problem. The underside doesn't look too bad, but the nearside landing bad is bent. Also, the long 6x24 plate in the centre should actually be two 2x12 plates. The two dudes I found inside the cruiser don't look too bad at all: I doubt these are the original figures! The gold logo is a little faded on each, which looks a lot worse on the white dude because it isn't hidden by the white background to the print. It's hard to get hold of pristine space figures; these may have to do. The third guy isn't looking so good: he's quite badly discoloured, with a broken helmet. It's a shame, as his logo is in quite good condition; however, whilst I can get the white looking much better, I can't do that without further damaging the logo. Goals What I aim to do here is get the sets looking as good as possible, within certain constraints. I will accept a small loss of quality in some of the prints; I'll try to replace badly faded prints but it is tricky to get hold of some of these printed parts in mint condition. I will try to use 80s bricks where possible. It isn't always easy to tell; for the old grey colour, you know that the parts are at least 8 years old; some later plates can be distinguished by a difference in the mold. Where I still have the box, I'll give it a good clean and try to spruce it up; where I don't have the box - for the larger sets - I'll try to get hold of one. For parts where there were mold differences back then, I will try to use the original mold designs. For example, in the case of the part 'Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Light', I will use the original 'thin ring' parts rather than the later 'thick ring'; however, where mold differences occurred in different releases of the set, I won't be so fussy (for example, I'll accept any form of the modified plate with handles (Bricklink ID 3839, so long as the colour is right). I reserve the right to modify my own conditions if it proves too difficult otherwise! Wish me luck! I'll be updating this thread periodically as I (hopefully) make progress. 14. Everyone remembers galaxy squad. Some liked it, some didn't. But everyone can probably agree that it was our last original, thought out, classic space theme. I liked it, but probably not the kids. At least that's what I suspect, considering the mark downs at Walmart. Because "nooooooo no no no"! Kids didn't want this. They wanted this! "Sigh" So where does that leave us? Stuck buying something like this? So I'm thinking "If kids want Star Wars, why not make sets aimed towards adults?" Creator Expert Series anyone? Why not make a $100 to $500 dollar classic space for AFOL? What do you think?
  15. I tried to create a list of MOCs that are based on real rockets, spacecrafts or probes (or at least designs of planned real rockets, spacecrafts or probes) with instructions, either free or for money. The list was growing and growing and now it is far greater than I expected: https://kaerodot.gitlab.io/lego-rocket-mocs/ Due to the nature of the universe, this list will never be complete and perfect, so please contact me with ideas for improvements and additions. If you are offended and you do not want your work to be included in the list, please contact me also. Tables can be sorted by clicking on the heading. Some statistics: there are instructions for: 97 different rocket and spacesihp MOCs, of this: 5 different MOCs of Spacex falcon 9; 3 Spacex falcon heavy; 6 saturn 1B; 3 Soyuz rockets; 3 V2; additional 52 different MOCs of spaceprobes; additional 26 launchpads, launch complexes, drone ships etc. If you want to build e.g. mercury rocket, you can just select by the pictures.

    KAPPA NOTCH COMPLEX

Another Classic Space Lego Ideas project. This time is White Classic Space/Futuron Color Scheme. Kappa Notch Complex is a Space Base nestled between mountains, It´s composed of several modules or rooms connected internaly by corridors dug into the rocky mountains around a large rocket silo housing a two stage rocket designed to take a satelite into orbit in new colonizing planets. Lab, telecommunications, control panel, infirmary are among the fuctions of the modular rooms of the base. It also features a vehicle hangar and landing pad among the features of the base. NOTE: I updated the base by adding a Space Police rover and Blacktron speeder. The upgrades will be added to Lego Ideas in a month. Link: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/5b3e8ddb-3ae0-48f6-a3ea-9bbdca900fba Enjoy!
  17. Hey everyone, I would like to share two of my latest space MOCs, the NASA Mars exploration rovers Perseverance and Curiosity. Both are built in 1:45 or minifig scale. I'm super exited for the Technic set, but I thought it would be fun to have a smaller version that can comfortably live on my desk as well. Here is Perseverance and Ingenuity, the first interplanetary helicopter that traveled to Mars with the rover in 2021. And here is Curiosity, using its ChemCam, a Laser/spectrometer instrument that analyzes the composition of rocks. If anyone wants to build one themselves, I did publish free instructions for both MOCs on my Rebrickable profile! Perseverance and Ingenuity Curiosity
  18. I love classic space ships from the 80's and 90's and inspired by the rrecent release of the Galaxy Explorer set and the Blacktron remake I created this MOC as my version of a modern loking and redesigned Classic Space Ship. Will Lego launch a new Space theme? Well... you can make it happen. If you like this model; crowd support is open for voting until 3/31/2023. Intergalactic Patroller Space Ship Yes I am talking about the Bricklink's Designer Program Series 1. The contest required some limitations related to parts available and color selection. I decided to use a new palette to keep it within contests rules, but I also rendered a few options in "classic" colors. Support if you like what you see. Here is also a link to the video Showing all functions of the model: And here are the color variations just for Fun
  19. Well, after the B7+S24 got RUD (Rapid Unplanned Disassembly) I am finally ready to make an article about my own copy of Starship/SuperHeavy Lifting system made out of Lego. And, especially, the most important part of it - stage Zero aka The Mechazilla. It took me almost a year to make this model work properly and be durable enough. You may have seen the progress of me building it in another post here. And now lets examine the result of all this. Legendary view from under the booster. You may see all 33 Raptor-2 engines and the locks which hold the booster on the launch table. Quick info about the rocket itself - it is made almost entirely out of Saturn V, so it is not in canonical metallic-silver. But all important features are present: folding flaps whicj can hold the weight of starship, 3+3 Raptors on the starship, 33 engines in correct layout on booster, gridfins also durable enough to bear the mass of the booster. Also it is not to scale with saturn V, cause 1:110 starship proved to be too heavy for lifting. The tower still measures up to more than a meter. As you could have guessed already - the main fuction of the model is to lift and stack the starship, which it does almost perfectly and without any considerable struggle. Starship rises to the sky being held by the mighty chopsticks Even the super heavy Superheavy gets a liftoff. So, its time to explain how it works. The model uses all 8 ports of 2 C+ smarthubs. One is located at the base of the tower (it operates extra function) and the second one is placed in the carriage inside the tower (it operates all main fuctions of it): 1 SmartHub: -2 L motors - open and close chopsticks. (If one closes and other opens - chopsticks swing to the left or to the right) -Xl motor - drives the winch which lifts the carriage (the caariage actually consists of two almost independent ones - one is inside the tower (it holds all motors and hub) and the second is outside the tower (it holds chopsticks) -M motor - operates the "Elons's treads" carriages on the surface of the chopsticks which move starship closer or further from the tower. Due to the enourmous height of the tower it was impossible to have all the motors in the base. Some had to be moved with the carriage. Also I wanted the tower to look as close to the original as possible. So, the only option I had is to make the second carriage for the motor and left a vertical opening from top to the bottom of the tower to connect chopsticks to the motors. Second Hub operates all other functions: - L motor - swings the QDA (Quick disconnect arm) - L motor - operates the pump which ww will discuss later - L motor - locks and unlocks the booster on the launch table - L motor - moves the transporter to imitate the process of getting the starship or the booster to the launch site Now, about the pump. while the motor is running it drives the pump and turns the pneumatic switch. Depending on the direction you drive it. The pump opens or closes QDA's claw (which holds fullstack in place) with starship's fuelling arm. And opens or closes booster's fuelling arm alongside with its thermo protection. Launch table's locks are simple levers that can angle to hold a booster. But they are also springloaded, so when you lift booster from the table, all locks automatically fold back making way for hypothetical hot flumes. QDA itself is just a simple structure driven by a single actuator which swings it from or to the starship. Finally - the transporter is just a stand with a bunch of small wheels. It can only drive back and forth as it is attached to the tracks under the "road". Now, enough of static fires photos, lets light this candle see it in action! I hope you liked it. Good luck to Elon on the next launch and good luck to all of you! Fly safe!
