  1. This is my entry for the "warship" GNAR category. The dromons are the heavy hitters of the Kaliphlin navy. Developed in Barqa, where the use of fire siphons was first employed in naval warfare, they are a devastating force, especially when deployed in formation. Thier heavy rams are proven ship-killers, and the prow siphon can throw a fire attack well over 30 metres. With the expansion of the fleet, construction of many of these intimidating ships have been contracted to the Peregrinus shipbuilders, who have been hard at work sourcing the finest timber from local and Mitgardian stocks to complete the order on time. Here, a newly built ship, The Kraken, is being sailed in convoy with others to join the rest of the fleet in Barqa. The Peregrinian shipwrights have also added thier own touch to the dromons - 4 mini catapaults to hurl pitch bombs at the enemy. Lord Sansael has taken the opportunity to deliver this batch of new ships personally - he also takes the time to discuss the latest developments in naval strategy with The Kraken's new captain. C&c welcome as always - thanks for looking peeps!

    [GNAR] Gylden Abiron

During the Revolword conflict, the county of Burnby began funding shipbuilding and other naval endeavors in the Mystic Isles. One if the commissioned ships was the Gylen Abiron. A light ship of the isles, it's name means Golden Revolution. Originally it referred to the uprising against Revolword, but now it refers to the fight against the drow invaders. Armed only with a pair of archers, an elvish ranger, and the hatchets, knives and daggers of the crew, it role is mainly to patrol the channels. During storms, the sails are furled to prevent them from being torn away. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm really glad I got this in in time, I've had it done for a while but procrastinated on taking pictures. Also, I'd like to apologize for the crummy photography. I couldn't use my regular camera. I'd also like to ask for the following credits: Either waves of flowing water. Not sure which would apply. C&C greatly appreciated!

  4. A GNAR warship entry for Nocturnus: The Smiling Phantom The Happy Wizard captains this dark ship and its crew of Shadows, wreaking havoc in naval warfare. The Smiling Phantom is a sleek warship from Nocturnus whose main purpose is to quickly sail in close to an enemy ship, sneak a Shadow on board, and sail quickly away; she rarely engages directly in battle. This Shadow then possesses the enemy captain, giving Happy control over the crew and ship; chaos ensues… A few more photos are on flickr.

    14 gun merchant ship "Eigensinn"

[pid][/pid] LDD/MLCad 12C Good evening, bloodthirsty pirates and talented creators. I am charmed by the masterpieces of this comfy forum. My brain was so inspired that it's content tried to mutate into a bottle of rum but instead of this I got this ship. It is my only second serious LDD model. Hope someday it would be possible to make it in flesh. Rendering by my friend Denex-M - Here you can see the ship colored by my wife :) - - Here you can see her near the 16 gun pirate ship "Blutrausch", which is a bit boring. -

    [GNAR] The Ahok

My entry on behalf of Kaliphlin for the Great Naval Arms Race Contest (also Approved UoP DoH credit for Trade and Law: shipping by sea / water): While the Ahok is really only a shallow-bottom cog used to ferry customs inspectors from the pier to merchant ships arriving in Kaliphlin's harbors, don't tell that to Capt. James T. Kaulk or his pointy-eared first mate. In his mind, every time the Ahok sets sail it's to defend Kaliphlin against the invading horde - and in the end, his boat could be used to move boarding parties in a naval battle... if no one else was available.

Troglodyte, the 14 gun savage ship

[pid][/pid] LDD/MLCad 12D Ahoy, Gentlemen! I would like to present my humble creation, this brutal ship. Tuned by cavemans or designed by demons? Everyone who knew anything about the destiny of this beauty is already dead. You can imagine, but be careful - it can eat you alive - - - - - Here you can see three sisters together - Thank you very much for your attention

    14 Gun Brig: Pinnacle

[pid][/pid] 160D After one and a half years of effort I would like to present the 14 gun brig-of-war, Pinnacle. Pinnacle is made up of about 3200 LEGO bits. I've used yards and yards of five different types of string to simulate the vast array of rigging you would find on a sailing man-of-war. To make the sails I've used painting canvas dyed with tea, and with a sewing machine I've added the reefing lines. She was originally built on prefab hulls utilizing Imperial Shipyard's next-gen design, but evolved into a waterline model after seeing DPW's Ship-of-the-Line. She now has a technic brick frame to keep her from hogging, or falling to bits. Many pictures of the build can be found in the WIP thread. Credit goes out to many builders who's techniques have been included in this model, and to the community for the feedback given to bring this ship to its fullest potential. I'm quite happy with the stern in the end. I carved up and pieced together the lattices from the larger window latices. They really make the stern pop! I've used wheels to create the various blocks and tackle found throughout the standing and running rigging. The "chains' are made of a wire that holds each block to the hull passed through a technic flex tube. Building them in this way has made the masts extremely stable. Here you can see a few of the 14 brick built cannon purchased direct from the D.P. Wesley Foundry in Bricksburg. I've tried to include as much detail on the deck as I could. The capstan is shown though at the moment it doesn't function. The captain's cozy cabin. Captain Townsend inspecting the newest addition to his expanding fleet.
  9. Hello All! Today I want to present my new MOC – Missile Range Instrumentation Ship. It is a ship for space objects observation. There are six RC functions: - 2 RC Buggy-motors with up-gearing 20:12 for moving; - 1 M-motor (auxiliary RC output) for rudder; - 2 M-motors for maneuvering propulsion devices on stern and on bow; - 2 M-motors for antennas aiming (rotation and tilting, antennas are synchronized). Auxiliary screws allows to move sideways and three-sixty turn. The accumulators are placed near the bottom for stability increasing. The length of the model – 80 cm, width – 24 cm, height with antennas – 40 cm, weight – 3.5 kg. A few detailed fotos: Auxiliary antenna for precise aiming Radiation indicators Feeders Helipad Space fleet emblem A few common views: Thanks for watching!

    WIP: El Centurion (Galleon)

[pid][/pid] 159C Buenos dias! This time my first attempt based on Greenhair's wisdom has been manned with Spanish troops, so it probably has to be called a Galleon. I also think that an "HMS Centurion" has already been done. Therefore here we have "El Centurion"! You may ask, why I call this "work in progress" while all key ingredients are there? The key reason is that I am quite unhappy with the sails but frankly, I do not have a good idea what they should look like... (And it may be a reference to my missing skills in photo-editing ) I have chosen Spanish soldiers from different sources and times: As you may notice I have varied from the famous tutorial in places. That is, I go outward by half a stud and also by one full stud (using inverted slopes underneath). This look ok to me (could have been worse...) - let's hear your feedback. Some features, which might not be visible at first glance: There is a hold underneath the lower deck which is accessible (floor covered with tiles) and which then can hold the Spanish silver. The roof of the captain's cabin is removable so you can see his desk, etc. By the way, this is of course one key element of my ships: My children must be interested in playing with them. Therefore I have cut down on rigging, etc. which would make playing and access to the lower deck, etc. more difficult. So, there you go with "El Centurion". Once I have a good idea regarding the sails, I will post an update.
  11. This is my entry in the "Merchant Marine" category of GNAR. I am also applying for UoP credit for the following units: Hydrology-waves, Trade/Law-Shipping by water and Life in Kaliphlin. The Wayfarer is a standard Peregrinian merchant ship, built for long voyages over ocean waters. She and others like her are mainly used for trade or exploration, but are also suitable for conscription into the Kailphlin navy in times of war. Their hardiness and generous hold make them ideal for use as troop carriers or support ships. Due to the recent instability in Historica, all Peregrinian merchant-class ships have had thier bows reinforced for use in ramming and boarding, and armed guards are more frequently present during trade voyages. A closer look at the bow section, with the main below-decks storage hatch and anchor winch. The ship's cat makes sure that any stowaway pests don't eat into the consumables on board! A closer look at the stern area, with lifeboat, unimpressed swabbie, cabin entrance and wheelhouse deck. (The wheelhouse deck also doubles as a useful vantage point for archers during a battle) I also tried to include some power functions in my build. Initially i tried making the whole ship rock back and forth, but that was a bit of a disaster. I then went for the simpler option of making sections of the waves move. You can see a short video of the waves in motion on my Flickr. (Sorry, i couldn't work out how to embed the video here. If anyone knows, can they please enlighten me? ) Hope you have enjoyed looking at my build peeps! C and c welcome as always.

    De Ruyter (WIP)

Hello everyone, Right after finishing my Christmas Entry (November 2012) I started designing, thinking and building on a ship right out of the pirate era / Golden age. I searched the internet and this website and found many beautifull ships and techniques that inspired me a lot. I wanted to make a ship that could suit well with the Dutch VOC ships of that time. I call the ship 'De Ruyter', one of the greatest admirals of the Dutch navy of all time and decided to use the colour scheme of the USS constitution (I can't help it: I really like black, white and dark red together). In the next posts I will place some pictures and a little story about the ship's progress. I want to thank Perfectionist, Admiral Croissant, Captain Green Hair, Dread Pirate Wesley and Mr. Townsend for inspiring me with their beautifull ships and very clever techniques! 13. Hello, I have created a MOC of the Orca from the classic Steven Spielberg film, Jaws. I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts, opinions on it? http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/62906 I have tried to be as close to the original ship as possible, including getting the sheer and camber of the vessel. Some bits were quite difficult to put in, such as the curved railings heading down to the bow from the pulpit. I also couldn't find a rope on LDD for the barrel on the transom, so I decided to use a chain. Thanks for viewing!
  14. Hello there Here comes my Xenoartefact Diorama with a platoon of heavy infantry surging a xenoartefact on GamdronII. First pirate ship?

Ahoy maties! My first post in this forum. I've recently gotten into the Pirates theme and I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for the first pirate ship to buy and the best and cheapest way to get it, I'm hoping not to have to spend more than £120. Cheers

    [GNAR] - Gylden Abiron (wip)

So here's my Wip for the GNAR. The front hull is done, I'm waiting to place an order to finish up the back/tweak the rest. I'd really appreciate it if you'd leave some feedback regarding proportions and sail set ups. I have since changed the figure head. The preliminary mast here is just a place holder. And here's the updated figurehead. I'd appreciate your thoughts and suggestions. This is my first ship, so I'm pretty unsure how to go about doing this. Also, Gylden Abiron means Golden Revolution in old English.

    [GNAR] The Grimm-maiden

The Grimm-maiden was a gift from the Nocturnans before the war with Revolword. It was then modified to be a Kaliphlin warship. Being powered by the souls of children (really hyper children), it is the fastest ship in Kaliphlins navy. The ship is owned by Carter Dirk and is usually housing a party for the crew. The captain is an elf from the Wither Woods who goes by the name of Garyette Forest-Mother. The ships defenses are made up of 4 mounted crossbows and 3 archers, two of wich are Dune Rangers, the other an elf. 19. Before I start, here is some background info: I got the LDD files for these ships back in 2011 from my Brother. He didn't built them, and can't remember where he got them. I have since remade the battleship three times and the sub twice. Here is HMS Timberwolf (the battleship )and the HMS Gray Ghost. (the submarine) The battleship features four guns and a two smokestacks, while the submarine has two propellers and is almost 100% built sideways. ...and yes, the guns do rotate! This symbol goes on the battleship on a flagpole. This one goes on the submarine. The wolves from Legends of Chima are going to run these ships. Wakz will be the venerable Captain of the Battleship. (known as the Timberwolf) While Winzar is the slightly unhinged captain of the submarine. (called the Gray Ghost) This fleet will be called the Wolfpack... and no, this isn't the entire fleet! (By the way: These last four pictures are from Bricklink!) LDD file for all that is in the main pic: http://www.mocpages....1395667879m.lxf Comments, Questions, & Critics welcome!

    MOC: Frigate "The Blue Mermaid"

[pid][/pid] 160A Ahoy! I'd like to present to you my new frigate which has been inspired by the work of our friend Sebeus I. The ship is called "The Blue Mermaid" Here's the little story to go along: Captain Jones was getting uneasy. For three hours he had been standing still to get his watercolour picture finished. Most of his crew had disappeared to sleep under deck. The few guys remaining and waiting for the painter to finish were the navigator, the first lieutenant and two strange guys. One was obviously gone crazy as he kept feeding his strange "Norwegian Blue" parrot. The other one was even stranger. He had boarded the ship with the aim to find the "Temple of the Monkey God" (wherever that would be). Surrounded by these guys, captain Jones felt a bit uneasy... but at least the painter was almost done, sailing beside the "Blue Mermaid" in his small sloop. End of story. As those who have seen some of my ships can tell, I have been following both inspiration from Sebeus I and the tutorial of fellow captain Green Hair. However, I made a few modifications which made the overall build more complex for me in the end. I have used custom-made cotton sails this time. And custom-made cannons. I really find that the CGH-Tutorial approach gives all these ships nice shapes but lacks stability. And you can never really access the lower decks which reduces playability. So, I might return to my old slope-based approach and present you some more of my reshaped old ships (if you give me some time ) Your feedback is welcome!

    Spanish Armada 14 Gun Brig

[pid]S-PS22-15D[/pid] Here she is! My very first ship in two years. I've had the armada flagship hull laying around since I bought it (only the hull) 2-3 years ago and I finally found the insiration to build something with it. It was a truly challenging build due to how narrow the pre-fab hull is. But I think I where able to pull it of in the end. This also happens to to be my very first Brig, Gallery Hope ya'll like it and have a great day!
  22. Hey there we have decided to make some CUUSOO projects. Just startet a few days ago. One and the biggest is the meridian galley. Merida is a fantasy (fictionary) southern continent, located in the world of Norcan. It is like an ancient realm in history but with some fantasy aspects. Here it is the meridian galley. Over 80 Studs long and with a 20 men strong crew. There is a high priest of meridian realm as the commander of this galley. The crew mostly consist of sailors and guards men. Have a look and if you want the meridian galley as a ship in your fleet - Support on CUUSOO! Thanks to all who already supported us. MOC: Sloop HMS Small Green Flying Dutchman

[pid][/pid] 160B The story begins: William Shakespeare was getting worried... William Shakespeare was getting worried. The daily ferry to Henley should have been an easy undertaking, but now they had been sailing for two days and there was no sign of shoreline anywhere. He also worried about the captain, a fierce-looking rum-drinking villain who had no bit of decent behaviour in him. Why, so William asked himself, had he chosen to take this journey on the "Small Green Flying Dutchman" in the first place? The brigde across the Thames would have been just 60 walking minutes away. But now it was too late. His thoughts returned to the ship - and the people on board. The crew was strange. The man at the rudder never spoke a word and the soldier in his parade uniform seemed a bit out of place. And how would he handle the ship's four guns in case of a pirate encounter? And then there was the other passenger. A traveling cake salesman from Yorkshire. William decided not to trust him. There was something fishy about him. Two days out on the high sea and by now his ink pot was getting empty. How would he be able to proceed? William Shakespeare was getting worried. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - May I present the cast: William Shakespeare - The strange captain: The soldier The traveling cake salesman from Yorkshire: The small green Flying Dutchman The ship: and the ship with a great colour effect (that I found disappointing but my wife said I should keep it): Hope you enjoy(ed) it! P.S.: After the discussion about my last ship (a non-galleon) this is probably a sloop, but I am not 100% sure ) P.P.S.: And maybe the guns are carronades.

    Mortar Barge Artillery

Hello! Here is my first Eurobricks MOC post, It is a mortar barge, used during various conflicts by all sides during the 17th, and 18th centuries (possibly earlier and after) to defend ports and harbours. It could be towed by a larger ship, as it cannot move on its own, or it could be positioned and anchored for effective defence. The ship consisted of a simple flat top barge, usually wooden, with a 36inch mortar, additional shot, powder, and other items necessary for its operation. It also had a crew (usually of about three) to operate it. I have decided to recreate it, building off of the "Kraken Attacken" Lego set (What a strange name XD) It is simple, but features some planks for support, with the mortar in the interior, and enough firepower to stop a large vessel, or siege a city! Below are a few photos of the vessel, crew and mortar design! http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/
