  1. The battle had gone terribly. The Drow had ambushed them and caught them unaware. They sliced through us like a hot knife through butter. Though they had smaller numbers the Drow fought savagely. Finally, after the first initial massacre, we at last gained a foot hold. Filled with a lust for revenge, the tides turned and we overwhelmed them. We had won. Although it was not with out loss. 2 out of 5 men had perished that day and many wives made widows and children fatherless. I felt anger rise within me. He would cleanse this entire island of drow before this the coming of summer and... "M'lord?" He was interrupted by a messenger, a scruffy looking fellow holding a small letter. "yes?" I asked him. " y-y-you are Lord Maestro?" He obviously did not recognize me with out my usual beard, which I had shaved off as a sign of mourning. "I believe so, you have a message?" "M'lord, the true heir to historica has returned, m'lord and he is calling all faithful to his banner. I know you may not believe me m'lord but its true, the sent me too y-" "Enough" I cut off his babbling and turned to a passing guard "Tell my commanders to meet me in my pavilion immediately". Cleansing Eolas can wait, It was time to join the king, and fight the real enemy. Not at all really satisfied with this build. The rock work is meh, the layering is meh, and the fig posing is meh :/ The story is also meh as I kinda got carried away :P Oh well, what I lack now I will (try) make up for in my next big build. Hope you enjoy :) Also, yes I did see that arrow that fell out The previous build in the saga: A heroes farewell The Next build in the saga: A chilly welcome

    [MOC] Swamp Rescue

Hello! Would like to present my second MOC after my dark ages. (Sorry, i build like a 12 year old, twenty years ago.) (You can check out my first MOC here!) I joined Nocturnus a few days ago, so i decided to (try) build something not too big, because i don't have that much bricks, and it is easier to start small i think. So i had a little scene in mind, then it slowly changed and transformed into this final form. I made an order on BL, and built it. Sorry, i do not own a professional camera, so i just used my phone. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Saga of Gutkeled the Tangled I. Swamp Rescue: As dusk settled over the dangerous lands of Nocturnus, Gutkeled the Tangled was gingerly heading East, passing through one of the deadly, and smelly swamps to stay hidden from the happenings of the civil war going on his beloved homeland. He was just getting across a dodgy bridge, when he heard the murky water splashing, and a woman's screech as well! First he thought it is just a crow with its raucous voice complaining about something, somewhere in the dense vegetation... Wasn't good for his ears, i tell you that. Anyway, it was really a woman. Or something like that. His mama Leofflæd taught him well, to be a good and honorable man, and to be helpful, especially to ladies, so he decided to lend a hand to the stranger. Even if she seemed like a vampire, or should i say swampire. - Good evening Ma'am! Don't you worry, i will pull you out in no time! - shouted Gutkeled, whilst he cut down a long, strong vine with his sword from a nearby tree. No answer came, just panic, screams, and the swamp's greenish water stirred up even more. The young wanderer cautiously stepped on the edge of the bridge, and held the vine in front of the woman. - Grab it, and don't let go! - said Gutkeled in haste. He wanted this to be over as quick as possible, because above them on top of the tree, in its crown, two swamp spooks nested. Some people and other life forms called them bog bogeys, and those creatures didn't like anyone near their home! Especially noisy ones. Usually the female laid a crystal thingy on top of a tree, while the male caught and killed some lesser creatures, and took their souls to trap it in the crystal. A few nights later the next generation of swamp spooks were born from it. They were always born during, or after full moon, because the crystal needed to catch the moon's rays to transform the souls into those nasty little spirits. Although they were only preying on smaller beings, they could mess up Gutkeled with an attack, if they wanted to. They literally just fly through someone's body, or head, causing headaches, nausea, dizziness for long hours, or in some cases, days. - Almost have you! - Gutkeled managed to pull the woman closer to the bridge, then lay on his stomach, and reached down with his hand to grab her. Soon both of them were sitting on the bridge. Safe and sound. - Are you all right, Ma'am? - asked the man, looking at the soaked and wet, and needless to say malodorous bloodsucker. - Handsome, ye call me ma'am one more time, an' ah wull have ye for dinner! - voiced the exhausted woman, as she observed her savior. - Be careful, vampy! Your sharp tongue might cut your throat one day... - stood up Gutkeled, and put his left hand on his swords hilt. The woman immediately get on her feet too. - Please, before we get carried away, let me introduce maself! Cailleach Bheur, at yer service! Ye assistance is much appreciated! - the change of her tone was comforting. - You are welcome, Cally! I am Gutkeled. Nice to meet you, i hope! What were you doing out here in the middle of nowhere alone? If you don't mind me asking! - Ah've heard some avalonian adventurers roaming these swamps. They are usually delicious. I almost had them, but lost ma footing on this cursed piece of poor woodwork. Dinna have to tell ye, i am not fond of watter and stuff. - I assure you, i taste nothing like avalonians, that's for sure. But i have some dried meat and even some red wine, if you are still hungry. - lied Gutkeled, as he was half avalonian (- half amazing) after his mother. - No need to worry darlin'! I won't bite, for now. But ah take the meat and wine! Let's find a good place, an' get a fire gaun! Have to dry ma dress! - grinned Cailleach mischievously. - Agreed! - nodded the young man, and shortly they disappeared into the night. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First, some pictures without the characters.: IMG_20161224_120422 by Erhard Maas, on Flickr IMG_20161224_120514 by Erhard Maas, on Flickr With minifigs.: IMG_20161224_120955 by Erhard Maas, on Flickr IMG_20161224_134529 by Erhard Maas, on Flickr A slightly different version. : IMG_20161224_135129 by Erhard Maas, on Flickr More pictures in my Flickr album.
  3. Somewhere among the shores of Avalonia... A rider sent from General Aeldric of Vanhorn races the soldiers of The Spire to send word to Albion and the surrounding reaches word of the True King's return, the True Heir to Cedrica! The Orcs of the coastal regions have always bore crude weapons and armor. Not nearly on level of that of Soldiers directly from The Spire. The rider must be diligent, swift, and unrelenting on his horse, for the forces of Ravaage do not falter. (Welp, this is my Category A (Riders of Historica) Entry! It's Alliance side. CC Welcome!)
  4. Grover

    The Cedar Serpent

Lady Gwenllian of Albers did not know what to expect from Avalonia, other than from stories she had heard of a land filled with chivalrous knights. Her homeland Albers was a matriarchal society, where only the women could hold property and pass down lands, but very diverse, with elves, dwarves, hobbits, and humans all living peacefully. Lady Gwenllian was trained as a knight, even dabbling in the art of magic, but she cherished her time in the forests of her homeland, where she learned the ways of the woods and the stealth inherent to them. Lady Gwenllian served as a knight in the military of Albers for her conscripted time. It was during this time that the evil emperor Lantz staged a coup d’état and claimed rule of the nation to himself, shredding the laws of matriarchal succession and throwing much of the country into chaos. Without a clear plan in mind, Albers had plunged into chaos and civil war. Lady Gwenllian returned home as quickly as she could, only to find her parents assassinated by the cronies of the new emperor. The emperor had spies everywhere, and some of those in her own had household betrayed Lady Gwenllian's parents, who fought against the usurper. Her household fought amongst themselves, distrustful of one another. Her family gone, and knowing not who to trust, Lady Gwenllian vowed to escape and rebuild her family legacy and power with the hope to one day return to her homeland and right the wrongs there. She quietly gathered her most trusted servants and boarded her ship, the Cedar Serpent, to sail to a new life in Avalonia. Her companions on her voyage included: Myellan, the elven archer originally from Avalonia; Seren, her lady at arms and master of the household; Chwyd, one of her men at arms (although he is not particularly sea-worthy); Alis, daughter of Seren and the lookout for the ship; Castwyr, the wily and somewhat vulgar bard; Sven, the oldest member of Lady Gwenllian's servants, who captains the ship; and Floro, the faun, an adventurous and free-spirited companion. The Cedar Serpent Myellan and Seren near the prow. Seren, Chwyd, Floro, and Castwyr on the deck. The seasick Castwyr blowing chunks. (I think this is probably my favorite Lego face). Alis peering for land through her spyglass from the mast and rigging. Lady Gwenllian watching over her crew with Sven in the background steering the ship. ****** Now for the caveat: I know this build is kind of crappy. I have recently moved, haven't unpacked all my bricks, and can't find all of them right now. I did find a large supply of dark orange, which had a lot of pieces but only a few types: 1x2, 2x2, and 2x4 plates, and some 33 and 45° slopes, so I wanted to try and build a ship with it. I had only two of the bricks with the side studs that I used for the serpent's eyes, akin to the old 90s Battle Dragon, which I always liked. The dark blue waves didn't show as well on the pictures as I planned. I wanted to do some gold studs as accents, but couldn't find them, so went with the silver stud tiles instead. I mostly wanted to get something posted for Gwenllian to start to move the story along for her. I've also never really been good at building ships, so was actually kind of happy with how this attempt at a cog, although I know it's sub-par for around here. Kind of funny, I've actually been building since the 80s, but only recently gotten back into it, so the bulk of my bricks are from the old color palette that is much more basic. I have been trying to buy up some of the more interesting shades of colors (the dark shades, new foliage, etc.), although it's going slowly. Some of the new building techniques are awesome and I am here to have fun and learn from everyone else, so I welcome the criticism and comments, although bear in mind I have a long way to go and probably don't have the same colors available as everyone else yet.

    Aimsithe the arms master

From city to city the arms master wanders, selling his wares to whoever has the coin. It is well known that the master forges a weapon like no other. Strong and reliant, a sword would last you through an age. So when Aimsithe passes your cottage be sure to purchase at least a knife, for you won't regret it. CCC XIV - Traveling salesman. Ugh I though this would be an original idea but Jaka Kupina bet me to it D: Oh well. Just a simple build that took me way to long but I tried out a new base style which I was pleased with. My next build is almost finished and should be done this week( if im not to lazy that is :P) Hope you enjoy. Some parts of the edit are terrible - sorry :P
  6. Lord Vladivus

    Orc Patrol

Across Nocturnus, bands of warriors roam. Not all of their allegiances can be ascertained easily, and mercenaries flit from side to side, lured by their greed and the promise of gold coin. Isolated villages are forced to rely on these nomadic warriors to defend them, and others to raise militia levies to serve the feuding Lords of Nocturnus; both Resistance and Spire alike. Orcs are common in the foothills of the Rakath, being hardy and warlike creatures, and their militia patrols venture far into the plains between the great peaks and the Moruth Swamps to the East.
  7. The Maestro

    Fimbůlvatr Keep

High up in the Mitgardian peaks a small village thrives on the freezing environment. To protect themselves from raiders they built a small castle to keep (pun intended but still not funny :P) watch. The castles position makes it a hard place to take and easy to defend. No siege could last in this frigid environment. This weather does not bother the inhabitants of the village as cold is all they will ever know. So life carried on in the isolated village of Fimbůlvatr, that is until the drow missionary came. Not soon after did the Nocturnus resistance have a new enemy to fear... CCC XIV - Ice castle (or a castle built in the snow) It's here at last, after a build time that took way to long and three photo shoots I am finally ready to post one of my best creations yet. The round tower was loads of fun to achieve and the rock work was incredibly difficult to get right. The landscape itself probably took up half the build time. The Tudor work was challenging but it came out alright imo. For some reason I have been putting off building this and I now have a large collection of spaceships in my room I didn't edit it because when I did it looked rather awkward so i thought it better to just leave it as it is. Also my first entry for the CCC with more on the way. I know this will be up against massive and amazing entries (cough cough SK) but I had the idea and knew I had to build it. Hope you enjoy :D Sorry for lack of commenting, its becoming a habit

    The Cottage In Autumn

An Autumn version of one of my previous creations. I really should be building for Brickvention MOC but I really wanted to use my new LUGbulk parts! Now that Summer has drawn to a close, one of the oldest retirees of the Avalonian military has further settled down into his quiet retirement home on the coast of the southern part of Avalonia.
  9. For the Resistance Throughout the wild, overgrown swamplands of Nocturnes there are many tales of those who reside in the darkest depths of the swamp, tales of savages, monsters and other twisted creatures who call the marshes home. These natives of the swamps are rarely seen, and many folk think they are no more then witless brutes or primitive savages. However, In truth, these swamp people are far more organized than most believe. Although some of these people are in fact primate brutes many are quite intelligent and are masters of moving unseen and striking with vile poisons. However, the most curious of all these folk is their leader, a strange hermit that acts as a Shaman for all the folk that live in the swamp. He lead them in prayer, heals them with strange potions and rituals, settles disputes, and is responsible for most major decisions. Now he summons forth the natives to prayer, and from there to finally leave the swamp and join the war...

    Desert Travellers

As they get nearer and nearer to the Arkbri river, two travellers, weary from there exhausting trek across the Oil Road, begin to see trees, and more signs of life sprouting up out of the barren desert. Overall, pretty pleased with how this sand technique turned out, pleased enough to order some more of the parts for my next large MOC!

    The Coming of Spring

A build set a few months after the Algus were routed from Mitgardia. The Algus are defeated and some parts of Mitgardia are beginning to thaw out, much to the delight of the local wildlife. A Strange Creature

Throughout the many wild islands and tropical jungles of Kaliphlin there are many unique beasts and creatures. There are many rumors and legends about ancient, gigantic beast that once ruled the lands eons ago until they were struck down by a great ball of fire falling from the heavens. However some say that the ancestors of these great beasts still live on, secluded from the rest of the world on one of the many small islands off the coast of Kaliphlin. Now, after years of searching, explorers from the University of Petrea have discovered these magnificent creatures and proved beyond a doubt the truth behind the old stories... This build started off as an attempt to build a dragon in the style of the ones from How to Train Your Dragon ( colorful, animated looking, etc) but it ended up as a dino instead. C and C appreciated.

    Beneath Anrarr

Hidden beneath castle Anrarr, in a not so long forgotten series of cavernous cellars lies the headquarters of the High council resistance to the rule of the Desert King. The main story and all four builds from the rest of build are available in the [summer Joust 2016] Kaliphlin Team thread. I would like to claim the UoP credits for: Geography: Grasslands, Military Science: Fortification, General Building: Lighted Builds (LEDs)

  18. As the Kaliphlin civil war came to a close, shortage of food, and resistance to the new leader of the guild, causing unrest among the populace. Now, after the mock glamour of the civil war attracting so much attention from the wider diplomatic scene, let us return to the desert lands to find what goes on there... After the civil war in Kaliphlin ended in stalemate, the main concerns of it's leaders turned to how to rebuild their shattered economy. Marauding armies had raided and decimated farms throughout the land, leading to wide spread hunger and deprivation. Peregrinus had fared somewhat better than it's neighbouring provinces, as most of it's battles had been fought against Ulandus on the sea. Although not blessed with much arable land, the locals have made do by cutting into the hillsides, creating terraces where produce can be grown. Soldiers from both sides of the conflict have found ready work on the land, finding a new common purpose after the exhaustion of war. Much to the dismay of the wealthy villa owners, many of their villas are being converted into terraces to supply a bit of extra food to the surrounding towns and villages.[/font] Terraced Villa in Peregrinus - 1 by Gabriel Thomson, on Flickr In an attempt to maintain security and control, ostrich riders are on patrol all around the guild. Thanks to Kayne for filling the gap. Thanks are also due to Gabe for replacing Si-MOCs when he ran out of time due to BrickWorld with only ten days to go. Thanks also to Mark of MMCB Capes for printing the custom flags. 19. Previous Chapter: Vampire Slayer --- Next Chapter: ??? "Then there is no changing the fact that you disobeyed your Captain. Is this not true, Aeldric?" Chamal Chairal asked with an authoritative voice. ((Sorry about the quality of this picture )) "Before i ask, i have a question for you, Chairman Chaman Chairal," Aeldric said back. "And what would that be?" Chamal said, leaning forward in his chair. "Where is Wizard Vorthentus? Why are you in his place?" Aeldric asked. A great silence fell about the room, ominously calming the floating stones around the Aegis realm. Chamal sighed before opening his mouth to speak. "Vorthentus has set out to stop a great force but has not returned. We fear he has died." the Chairman replied. A heavy face blew across Feowind. "Now, do you deny?" Chamal said, returning to the previous inquiry. "I do not. But, i set out to avenge a great elf. Aurthal was a powerful shaman of nature, and i slew the Vampire that killed him, and in turn avenged his soul so he could rest." Aeldric confessed. "Then you deliberately denied Avdar's orders?" Chamal said. "...Yes. I am guilty." Aeldric said. "Then, you are to be revoked of your title, and you shall be stripped of your strength, and never be allowed the presence of the Aegis Council again." Just then, a green-robed man stepped through the Aegis portal, carrying a white letter with the seal of Albion on it. "I have a letter from De'Gothia of Albion, sires." the man said, bowing, and holding out the letter. "Do you realise you are interrupting a council session, messenger?" Avdar asked the man. "Yes, but this letter is of more importance to the council than any of you here." the man boldly said. "Let me see it," Chamal said, standing up. The man handed him the letter, and Chamal unrolled it. "I have heard the news that Aeldric of the Rangers of Avalonia has slain a powerful Vampire of Nocturnus, and has avenged the powerful shaman Aurthal. This act of his has proved him brave and courageous, and I grant him the position of Captain of the Rangers of Avalonia. He has shown his strength, and i grant him the authority over Avdar's force of Rangers." ~De'Gothia of Albion Avdar stood up in a rage. "de Gothia thinks he can revoke my title?!" he shouted. Chairman Chamal stood up over him, with a foreboding appearance. "The Leader of Avalonia has Spoken, and his will shall be done. You, Avdar, are to be revoked of your title, and replaced by Aeldric." ------------ Alright guys! I've finally uploaded and finished the build! This is part 1 of the end of Aeldric's story, as his tale will be coming to a close, for reasons i will not explain, because that would spoil the story! Anyways, as usual, CC welcome, and i hope you enjoyed! Also, thanks to de'Gothia for letting me use dialogue for his character in this build!

Now he prepares to venture forth into the world once more, and wreak destruction with his fearsome might and his burning magics on any who dare threaten Nocturnus! This started as a little figbarf, but then i decided to make a scene for him. I hope you enjoy! C and C appreciated.

Somewhere in a suburbs of Valholl there is a Windmill outpost. Soldiers guard vigilantly the border of the city. I had an idea to build steampunk-style windmill a long time ago. But Warhammer architecture changed my mind in that way. Motorized with PF- it turns! The Orcish Marshes

Previously: Storm in the North The spring rains had not yet come to the Orcish Marshes, and so the wetlands were not yet wet, the snowmelt on this coast being fairly light and tending besides to run south in the mountains and bypass the marshes altogether. Every spring, a torrential rainstorm, lasting sometimes as long as two weeks, would saturate the land, and the land soaked it up like a sponge. Truthfully, much of the "marshes" was not much of a marsh at all - more of a wasteland, an expanse of shrub and rough country that might have been worth something to someone were it not populated by orcs. With so much bountiful land to be found elsewhere in Mitgardia, this corner saw little development. The dark-cloaked man had been traveling across this dry expanse for nearly a week now. It was not easy country to travel. Every hump and hillock concealed some stagnant watercourse, backed up since the snowmelt subsided nearly a month ago, and only to be crossed with difficulty. Although the thick, succulent fenweed had not yet sprouted its yearly crop, the evergreen orcsfang fronds were at their height of growth, and mistletoe and other such parasites grew thickly on the old and dead wood of still-dormant trees. The orcs themselves were easily avoided by any skilled traveler. They kept to themselves, in stockades made of gnarly tree trunks placed in rings on the highest hills, and sallied out only to hunt - those encampments that lacked springs or wells survived on stagnant rainwater kept in great pits. Orcs, with their iron bellies, care little for the quality of their water, and only bother with springs or wells because they do not so easily run dry. A single traveler may moved unnoticed in the marshes, though he must needs go slowly, for the ground is not straight and the old roads are not kept. To travel in a group is to be seen by any and all who may be there to see - the fronds and, in their season, the fenweed will not permit otherwise. So it was that the traveler encountered a party of four orcs passing through the marsh, and began to shadow them. Three were male, including their leader, but there was also a female among them. One of them, a male who wore a rough helmet and carried a battered sword, seemed by his stiff walk to be the eldest. The other male follower wore a helmet as well, and both he and the female carried spears. The leader had no helmet, and he carried some sort of stone instrument with a hooked blade. They climbed a small hillock, and the traveler hid behind a stand of orcsfang to watch. There was an old, dead tree atop the hillock, and a chain was looped around one branch. Bound by the chain was a girl, fairly young by her looks, dressed in simple green and brown. The orcs gathered around the leader, evidently some sort of priest, as he took a position in front of the girl and began chanting. As the chant progressed, the orcs' excitement grew, and the priest brought his hooked blade closer and closer to the young woman's neck. Bound as she was with her hands high over her head, the girl could do little but grit her teeth and watch as the stone crescent-moon inched nearer to her. The travelerl quickly laid down his staff and unslung one of his bundles: a fine crossbow. Cradling the weapon with his hook, he brought a bolt from its place under his cloak and readied his weapon almost without effort. It was a small weapon, intended for obvious reasons to be used with one hand, and he sighted along its guides briefly before squeezing the catch. Almost before the metal chord had rebounded with a splack off of the spring-steel arms of the bow, the bolt buried itself in the throat of the female orc. She fell without a sound. The traveler didn't wait to fire another shot. Instead, he set the crossbow down in a dry patch of dirt and again reached under his cloak. As the chanting suddenly gave way to cries of alarm rose from the orcs, he drew from its scabbard a heavy longsword. With his hand against the crosstree and his hook looped just above the pommel, he stepped out from behind the weeds and let fall the massive blade, cleaving through both helmet and head of the male spear-carrier before wading into the fray. With the priest's head left rolling in the dust, he turned his attention to the girl. The locks on the orcish manacles were crude, and a few moments with his knife made short work of them. He wiped his blade off on the fronds, replaced it and his crossbow under his cloak, and, retrieving his staff, offered it to the girl, who was so stiff that she nearly fell over when released from her bonds. Then, and only then, did he speak. "Where are you from, lass?" His voice was deep, and raspy, as though it seldom saw use, but not unkind. "I -- I'm from one of the villages," she said uncertainly. "I live in the fens. But I don't know where I am." "Ah, so the fen-folk still life in this country. What is your name?" She gave him a wary look. "Haelda." "Then, well met, Haelda of the Fens. I am traveling to the mountains. Perhaps on the way, we may find an inn with a map, or a landmark you know, and direct you toward your home? In any case, it is not wise to be out on the marshes much longer. I can smell the rain coming on, not more than a day away." "You're probably right, sir. What should I call you?"
