  1. Hi all, this is my entry for Castle Battle Contest Epic Siege category on Flickr: Attack at Sharael Castle. Sharael Castle is attacked by a group of barbarians from the uncertain origins and only an handfull of archers is prepared to repel the attack. --------- This second part is the first I build but it became a sort of prequel of the previous part which became a contest entry. Alexander Vandangant arrived at Sharael Castel a few days before the attack, in which he will partecipate. A sentinel observes Alexander running long the ditch. Alexander Vandangant runs along the ditch. A small depot/armory under the tower. Particular of the ditch. Yuo can found all photos at my Flickr channel. I hope all you enjoy my small work, C&C are always welcome and enjoy!

    4 Joust + MOC + WIP

Link to pictures. http://imgur.com/a/MvTI5 So I have been working on my challenge to put 4 Joust sets together. I started with everything assembled from the book. I figured I only needed one joust rail so I created some stables for horses (http://i.imgur.com/Oc9PdDzh.jpg). I then modified the king pavillion to make it so I could have just 2 of them from 4 (http://i.imgur.com/EFKWnOWh.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/uZTU9Tih.jpg). I made one of those for the red king and blue king brother (lion knights) and one for the green and black wizard. I have a whole bunch of base plates ordered so I can start to have tiles underneath. I also plan on getting more chess sets to have enough soldiers to make it like a packed stadium (http://i.imgur.com/VUN97kqh.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/Vykckmxh.jpg). I also have been putting extra kings and queens minus royal livery into the noble areas to look like nobles are watching from boxes (http://i.imgur.com/vbsYi2Dh.jpg). Future plans: I really need to find many many many 1x1 tiles to start to do proper cobblestone and street material and grass material. I need to figure out where to get the best plates for building decently sized towers and turrets because the castle I built to start it from is pretty whimpy(http://i.imgur.com/l4AFWCdh.jpg):(. I was really sad it wasn't as much fun as I thought it would be to build the castle after building the joust. I plan on picking up some of the medieval village sets for a bit of a village scene next to the Joust. Questions: What are people buying to start working on their own turrets? Are you using Helm's Deep because it seems to have a lot fewer huge pieces that really don't seem to be able to be molded into more realistic looking walls. I was planning on picking up more base castle sets but I am not so sure anymore. Really wondering what others think. Also looking for other ideas of where to go next. I want to have this back up against a castle wall with a city/town nearby the castle. Thanks for taking a look all.

    MOC: Amikvale Outpost

Well, I've been meaning to join Eurobricks for a while now, but have only now gotten round to creating an account. You may have previously seen me around on MOCpages and Flickr. Here is a MOC I built a month couple of months ago for the Auckland Lego Show, which was here in New Zealand. More and better pictures can be found here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/361214 Thanks for looking, and I look forward to my time here! ~~~~~ At the heart of the Lion Kingdom lies a green valley, where the soil is fertile and the produce is abundant - this valley is known as Amikvale. Due to its central location, many travelers of all races pass through here. It is not unusual to see elves, dwarves, and minotaurs. Even orcs will occasionally wander into Amikvale! However, these creatures are not always peaceful, so to protect the villagers, a mighty fortress has been built.
  4. As the darker powers in the corners of the world grew, the former strength of great kingdoms no longer seemed so unshakeable. Magic found its way back into the world, and the world trembled. I was gone for a while, but I was still following the community when I could. But now I'm back, and hopefully will be able to build some more. This is my entry to the CBC Epic Siege category, and is definitely one of my bigger mocs. Credit for damaged wall technique goes to Legonardo Davidy and Mark of Falworth. Comments welcome!

    Repairing Forngord Castle

Joktan, Jayan, Erastus, Dedan, and Kenan, along with the Hradcanny dwarves are busy repairing Forngord castle. Some work on patching the walls, others chop trees, use rubble to fill in the swamps, cut stone to rebuild the breach in the wall, fix the roof, and saw lumber. This is a unofficial entry to my Master Architect Challenge. Added 8 studs across the front bringing this to 56x56. I'm especially happy with how the crane (which is functional) and wheelbarrow turned out. More pictures here: http://www.brickbuilt.org/?p=667 Any C&C appreciated
  8. This is my newest LEGO project, a model of castle Neuschwanstein. I wanted to build this for some time because it is a beautiful and interesting building and I don't live too far from it. The original castle was build by the famous "Swan King" or "Fairy Tale King" Ludwig II of Bavaria. Today it is one of the most visited castles with more than 1.3 million visitors annually. It started as an LDD design that you can see in the first image. I choose the scale so that it was possible to put in (nearly) all of the windows in some reasonable form. If the windows aren't right it just doesn't look right... Difficult parts were the towers and the angled back part of the main building! I also included a little model of the king's golden carriage drawn by four white horses, approaching the gate. Of course then I had to build the real model, too. And here it is! It's been some work but I'm really happy with the result. Last but not least a cleaned up "promo shot" :-) This is also a project (#1128) on LEGO CUUSOO so if you really like it you can find it there: Neuschwanstein Castle, Bavaria

Everard Lodge Revisited by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr Everard Lodge Revisited by Mark of Falworth, on Flickr A collaborative build from Mark of Falworth and Brother Steven. Based on Mark's previous creation Everard Lodge. This is one of many MOCs we will be bringing to Brickfair Virginia this August. So be sure to come on by and see it live! :) Thanks for viewing and have a great day! ~Mark of Falworth and Brother Steven
  12. These two worlds in parallel dimensions have long coexisted independently but legend has it that the portal between them opens up once in thousands of years but no one knows for sure exactly when. Warriors on both side are stationed to keep watch of the portal for when that time comes these two worlds will collide! AC

    Rascliff Castle

We journeyed back to Rascliff Castle, a powerful and ancient Mitgardian safehaven. Here we will be able to regroup out of the reach of the Hand of Corruption. - Sir Infernum I love how this turned out, my biggest MOC yet! Lowest level. Crossbowing battlement! Manned by a warrior of Rascliff castle. Another battlement, with an Arcium Archer. I love the doors! Inspired by SK and SoT! There's a third battlement type thing. Rascliff Castle harbors hundreds of Mitgardians every day. This is a ranger who is staying at the castle. I love this window technique! Not sure who invented it. Tower segment. So you can see the floors. There's a full interior! It's also modular! Sir Infernum and his second in command talking to the lord of Rascliff Castle. This storage room is full of barrels of purified water, as well as drinking glasses, in case of siege. The blacksmith's room. Barrels of arrows, a chest of weapons, a table for an ornate blade, and a great sword mounted to the wall. I love the technique to attach the sword. Bunk bed! A... room... The great hall on the bottom floor. Who's that woman? To be revealed... Platform for archers. That's all! I love how this MOC turned out! I think it's my best MOC by a lot! Hope you like it!

    King of the Hill

King of the Hill Knights, Barbarians, Peasants and Wizards clash to become King of the Hill This is an entry into the Flickr group Lego War’s The Castle Battle Contest, Category 3: Single Stud Battle! Category 3: “Single Stud Battle” How many minifigs can you have battling (and balancing) over one stud of space? Based on a similar contest from times past, this category will test your creative balancing skills to the limit! Hahaha! This is definitely the most enjoyable build I’ve had in a while! Although, I must say—I did expect it to be far more challenging then it turned out to be! I utilized shields as a way to balance more and more figures, as well as having various figures just hanging on for dear life! I also greatly focused on the first figure since he would be holding up everything, and I gave him a shield and a flag pole on his back to attach more peoples. The horse was something I thought to put in about halfway through the build, and I was surprised to see I was able to balance him—in fact, the horse is actually the only part of the build not attached stud wise to any other part—so he’s basically a free floating structure. So, in the end, I’m very happy with my entry, and my new found balancing skills! Enjoy ~Nemo
  16. Looking at the great works that appear in this forum, I also tried to do something medieval: Alexander Vandangant Adventures. Technically speaking, I was inspired in particularly by Mark of Falworth's works (that I love ) and I tried to recreate the technique used by him to made the grasslands; for now I have only few pieces to create Medieval MOC and therefore I work on a small size. The protagonist of this Adventures is Alexander Vandangant who is an elven archer and the character I play in the RPG Heroica. After these rants, I move onte the MOCs. My first attempt was Alexander in the ruins: During his travels, Alexander is to pass in the midst of the ruins, whose history has long since been forgotten. http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Then this morning, I create Alexander in the ruins, part 2: During his travels, Alexander will come across some abandoned ruins and after being passed in the first ruins, Alexander delves deeper and deeper into them. http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Rear view http://www.flickr.co...e09/8977664466/ Right view http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Left view http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ All photos can be on found in my Flickr Gallery Hope you enjoy, constructive criticism are always welcome and thanks for viewing Edit: You can find the continuation at Alexander Adventures part. 3 Encounter

  19. After seeing Eurolock's Helms Deep mod/moc I decided I had to do my own. TLG's original set was lacking, in all respects, so something had to be done. Any feedback/comments would be great, thanks a lot! You can check it out on my flickr:
  20. Set Number: 70401 Name: Gold Getaway Theme: Castle Year of Release: 2013 Pieces: 199 Minifigures: 3 Price: $19.99 USD Links: Flickr image gallery Bricklink Brickset Like my last review of the smallest set in this Castle line, 70400 Forest Ambush, these images have been provided by my brother who has obtained these sets prior to their official release and been granted permission to review them. This is the second smallest set and the largest vehicle-based model. On the subject of its box art, I thought it was funny that the green frog placed on top of the guard booth in the instructions can be seen tumbling out of the chest on the back of the wagon. The figures include one Red Dragon (the name I've given this faction) with a head that is new to this 2013 product line and two Crownies with the two perhaps most frequently used (even overused?) old heads of all the historical themes. The Red Dragon fig has the lamellar-style torso print and the Crownie swordsman the cuirass design, both appearing in the smaller set, while the poleaxe fig wears a tunic not appearing in that set (but like the one you'd expect to be hypothetically under the cuirass) and a belt with a shoulder sash. Also unlike the smallest set in this line, none of these heads are double-sided/printed with alternate exp<b></b>ressions on the back. There is however nice back printing on the torsos like in all the sets in the line. The Red Dragon paddywagon/Black Maria might look a bit odd with the red 1x1 "cheese" slopes on the top, but it seems that all the faction's vehicles carry this motif in mimesis of draconic osteoderms (those spikes down the spine). The roof, mostly a single 4x6 plate, is made to easily pop off as it's only attached at the front (the red tile at the back is a 2x4 supporting the back of the roof). As a more obvious playability feature, there's a Technic axle on the opposite side of the carriage, which, when pushed in, ejects the end of the chain attached to a flick-fire missile base. The harness has a degree of rotation which allows the horse to freely rear while hitched. The new champron (the barding over the bridle on the horse's head) strangely has a much tighter fit than any of the old ones were on the old horses - neither fit interchangeably - and its texture is ever more detailed. On this side of the carriage you can see there's a Technic half pin like the one that connects the other end of the chain on the opposite side, but this one strangely connects nothing. The panel of bars on this side doesn't open like the door on the left side, hence the flame on the torch can be positioned parallel to the cab without the need for clearance of a door swinging open as on the left. The chest on the back of the carriage holds six 1x1 round "coin" tiles and the three jewels that someone's got to use for that medieval traffic light. There's not much to say about this small ruinous structure other than there is indeed a clip brick on the other side visible on the box art. The ballista is built with the Crownie colors and doesn't fit with the Red Dragon horse, that is, the wheels are suspended unfavorably above the hooves when the "trail" on the artillery carriage is mounted on the horse's midsection. Parts of interest include this newer bracket element at the center of the siege engine, the carriage wheels in this unique metallic color (Bricklink calls it Pearl Dark Gray), and the 1x1 round tile with the padlock print. The supplemental 1x2 black brick and plate for the horse accompanies the extra pieces, mostly 1x1s and weapon/accessory pieces and a Technic pin as is typical. A typified opinion on the ratings for the set: Design: 3/5 - The wagon is solidly built and has a pleasant color theme that doesn't look too outrageously unrealistic. On the other hand, the Crownie's building ruin is rather disappointing, and the flick-fire ballista looks bulky and rather colorful. Build: 5/5 - The set has few large pieces, and although the build wasn't challenging, it wasn't very repetitive either. Playability: 4/5 - The set name and box art imply that the Red Dragons are trying to steal the treasure. Although the Red Dragon vehicle is a prison wagon, the box art doesn't suggest it anywhere that the cell hold one of the enemy Crown soldiers. However the chain ejection mechanism is simple but elegant. Parts: 5/5 - Even though few parts are relatively new, the new style horse and champron barding as well as all of the new prints on the minifigure heads and torsos are most satisfying. Price: 4/5 - $20 for this set does seem a bit high, even though the horse and three minifigures contribute to that. The price to piece ratio is a fair ten cents per piece. Overall: 4/5 - It's a good set with ample playability and detailed figures. The play features and overall design seem well thought out. I would recommend this set to castle builders.

  23. Set Number: 70400 Name: Forest Ambush Theme: Castle Year of Release: 2013 Pieces: 90 Minifigures: 4 Price: $11.99 USD Links: Flickr image gallery Bricklink Brickset This review comes to you courtesy of my brother, who received all five sets in this new castle line following recognition by Lego employees for his contribution to the castle theme display at the recent Brickfair New England. After confirming his liberties of disclosure with his evaluators, he has photographed all models in a review manner which I will be posting with accompanying analysis. I will be starting today with the smallest of the collection. The Red Dragon faction figures include an axeman and a maceman both with a lamellar-style torso print. The Crown/Lion faction figures include a swordsman with a cuirass torso print and a pikeman with a mail and gorget print. All four figures have appropriate back prints, with fastenings and buckles for the Red Dragons and the rear halves of cuirass and gorget for the Crownies. Additionally, both Red Dragons have alternate expressions on the back of the head while the Crownies do not. The swordsman hides funny eyebrows under his helm and holds a new blade seemingly based on the classic chrome silver greatsword. The camouflaged crossbow emplacement has two clip bricks for each "Panzerfaust" flick-fire missile, and some nice foliage including the toppling apple tree available to block the road, crush the enemy, or use for Apfelschuss. The cart has two clips behind each wheel (one with flag, one free for holding a weapon) and two in front (one with a shield and one free for a weapon). The chest holds six 1x1 round "coin" tiles, one goblet, and three jewels that could be useful for creating a medieval stoplight (not that improved civil infrastructure would save our travellers from highwaymen such as these thugs). Finally, the extra parts include another always useful carrot top in a newer style with a slightly more defined indentation at the apical meristem, that is, between the two "leaves" at the top. Thanks for reading, remember to vote in the poll above, and feel free to share your thoughts below.

    LCC-Passing Through

A free build for Lenfald, and a pre-build for my GC4 entry. As Andar, Kole, and his small army of the elite Lenfald Knights travel to attack the Outlaw Bridge in the Mountains, they pass by a Peaceful house, with a calm river flowing past it. A young mother watches her son herding goats down the path, and the Lenfald knights coming up the road. This was an experiment in house techniques, rivers, trees, etc. :D Enjoy! Thanks for viewing! Soli Deo Gloria! Matthew Oh
